Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 471

Alexander held a kitchen knife and lowered his head to ponder before slowly replying, “She only likes to eat my cooking.”

Brandon remained quiet. He was forced to see him expressing his love for her.

He nibbled on the cucumber he took from the refrigerator and leaned on the kitchen counter to watch Alexander cook. Alexander seemed used to kitchen work with his skillful cutting and washing.

Brandon sighed deeply when he saw Alexander busy around in the kitchen: He had never expected to see Alexander cooking. ‘Is the power of love so great? He probably would never cook for any woman in his life.‘

“My interest in her is growing even more. What kind of woman is she that could make you love her so much.” Brandon tried to get more information from Alexander but was careful not to irk him.

Alexander did not bother looking up. He put the prepared ingredients into the pot with a sizzle and said calmly,” People like you will never understand.” He flipped the spatula and seemed to enjoy cooking.

‘F*ck! What does he mean by people like me?! I‘ve been in many relationships, okay?‘ Alexander spoke as though Brandon had never seen a woman before. Brandon looked away in disdain and looked outside of the kitchen. Then...

“Oh my God!”

Brandon threw away the cucumber in his hand and jumped back. He was about to jump on Alexander like a koala bear. Startled by Brandon, Alexander almost dropped the pot, turned around, and knocked Brandon‘s head with a spatula, “Are you crazy?!” “I‘m not! There‘s a ghost in your house!” Brandon pointed to the front with trembling hands. Alexander looked up and saw a person standing at the kitchen door. Her body was dirty, and there was mud dripping down her body. Her long wet hair was sticking to her cheek, and she looked like a ghost.

Alexander immediately realized that Brandon was referring to his wife. He was stunned at Lily‘s appearance, hurriedly put the kitchenware down, and lowered the fire. He walked over to her and asked warmly, “What‘s wrong?” “Who is he?!” Lily frowned when she saw the stranger in her house. She pointed her index finger at him in confusion. Brandon was speechless. ‘Oh no, the female ghost is pointing at me. Is she going to kill me?! She‘s so scary!’ Brandon was shivering non–stop.

“A nobody.” Alexander said indifferently, “Are you all right?”

“I‘m fine. I went to the suburbs to collect some materials today and accidentally slipped. It was also raining, and I got wet.” Lily brushed her hair and felt that her wet body was very uncomfortable, “I‘ll go to our room to shower and change.”

“Okay. Be careful not to catch a cold.” Alexander felt sorry for Lily and patted her cheek. Lily nodded and looked at Brandon again before she went upstairs. Brandon‘s thumping heart calmed down when he saw the female ghost‘ disappear. He patted his chest as he looked at Alexander, who calmly went back to cooking. Alexander looked indifferent and calm but was very gentle when facing the ‘female ghost‘ earlier. Brandon could easily guess who she was. “W–Was that your... Is she…” “Haven‘t you met her earlier?” Alexander said lightly,“ Also, you screamed too loudly just now. You scared her.”

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 472

Brandon widened his eyes. ‘I‘m the one who frightened, okay?!

Alexander finished preparing the meal in a short while. He made butter prawns, beef steak, stir-fried asparagus, and mushroom soup. There was also a pudding in the fridge, and Brandon was very jealous when he saw the scrumptious dinner.

He was cheeky enough to stay until now, so of course, he would stay to eat. Otherwise, his trip here would be in vain. He took the initiative and helped bring the food to the dining table. He sat down and picked up the fork and spoon to start eating. However, Alexander slapped the back of his hand, “I‘ve said before, this is not your share of dinner!”

“I see that you‘ve cooked a lot of food. I‘m afraid the two of you won‘t be able to finish it. It‘s such a waste, and we mustn‘t waste food. I‘ll help you!” After saying so, he picked up the fork and wanted to eat.

“There‘s no need!” Alexander stopped him with one hand and shooed him away like he was a fly.

Brandon may not have other skills, but he was very thick skinned. They went back and forth, trying to fight for the food on the table. Brandon finally managed to grab a piece of meat.

Just as he was about to put it into his mouth, he heard a sweet female voice. “My car seems to have a small problem.

Can you help me send it to the workshop tomorrow?”

“Okay. You can drive my car tomorrow.” Alexander answered her naturally.

“I don‘t want to. Your car is too flashy. I‘ll take the cab instead.” Lily walked down as she spoke. Her footsteps were very leisurely and unhurried. Alexander walked over to her and grabbed a large towel along the way, “Let Edward drive you to work. It‘s too troublesome to take the cab.” He put the dry towel over her head, rubbed it lightly, and said, “You forgot to blow dry your hair again.” “It‘s too troublesome to blow dry!” She grabbed a handful of her hair. When she turned around, she saw Brandon, who was about to eat a piece of meat, looking at her. She recognized him as the person in the kitchen who had called her ‘ghost‘ earlier. She frowned, “Why haven‘t you left yet?” Brandon was speechless.

He was pathetic! He was still in shock seeing a beautiful angel when a sentence from her knocked him back into reality. He used to be well–liked by everyone and gave others a good impression even when they didn‘t love him. He was also someone who was very experienced in romantic relationships. However, this young couple only felt disgusted with him. He was completely frightened the first time they met. The second time they met, he was asked to leave before he had time to praise her. To make matters worse, Alexander listened to everything she said. He did not scold her for being rude and not treating his guest well. Instead, Alexander agreed to her words and said, “Okay, I‘ll ask him to leave now!”

‘Listen to him! Listen to his words! Is that something he should be saying?! Is that something he should do?!‘ Luckily, Brandon heard the beautiful woman say, “It’s okay. He‘s your friend, after all. Stay for dinner.” Fortunately, the angel was indeed an angel and had a good heart.

However, Alexander said, “He is not really my friend. If he stays for dinner, I‘m afraid you won‘t have enough to eat.” Brandon was speechless. “Is he a glutton?! There‘s so much food on the table. There‘s extra in the pot, kitchen, and refrigerator. Does Alex need to be so concerned about insufficient food and say it so mortifyingly? If there wasn‘t enough food, I could buy it. I could order takeout for you, okay?!‘

Brandon felt he had experienced all the humiliation in life in such a short period. He looked at the little angel with a pitiful face as he hoped she could put in a good word for him. He found out that Alexander would listen to everything that this beauty said. He immediately put down his fork and wiped his mouth,” No, I eat very little. As the wise man says, beauty can make one feel full. I‘m full even if I don‘t eat anything, as I am privileged to see such a beautiful woman!” He winked at Lily with his almond–shaped eyes.

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 473

Brandon thought he was very charming and did not expect Lily‘s facial expression to remain still. Lily looked back at Alexander and said thoughtfully, “I think... you‘d better ask him to leave.”

“Huh?” This was the first time Brandon suffered such a big setback. He was stunned, “No! Hey, beauty, I really don‘t eat much. No, I don‘t need to eat! You can‘t be so ruthless, Alex. Consider our relationship, Alex...”

“Are you leaving by yourself, or do you want Edward to send you?” Alexander raised his eyebrows and asked. “Don‘t. Please don‘t!” He had been bridal carried twice by Edward. If it happened again, he would be too ashamed even if no one had spread the news. He looked at them and thought of an idea, “My dear beautiful sister–in–law, I‘m here to send you a wedding gift. Don‘t you think it‘s inappropriate to drive your guest out of the house like this?!”

“Wedding gift?” Lily looked at Alexander suspiciously.

Alexander coughed lightly and placed a prawn on her plate, “Yes, since we‘ve confirmed our relationship, we should hold the wedding as soon as possible. Don‘t you think so, my dear?”

Brandon felt goosebumps when he heard Alexander call her ‘my dear.‘

Lily understood in an instant. It seemed like the news had spread after they returned from the Lodge family, and they should announce their relationship publicly. Having mentally prepared herself for this, she had no qualms about making their relationship known to the world.

“Where‘s the wedding gift?” She looked at Brandon and stretched out her hand.

Brandon was stunned for a while. He laughed awkwardly and said, “I came in a hurry, so...”

“Aren‘t you the one who said you were here to give us a wedding gift?” Lily ate elegantly and felt that he was pretty interesting. Having said that, this was the first time she got to know someone other than Edward after being with Alexander for so long. It was quite a novel feeling.

“Yes, that‘s right! However, I just heard the news on the way here. I wasn‘t sure if both of you were really getting married, so I didn‘t bring the gift with me,” Brandon immediately continued before she could speak, “Don‘t you worry. I won‘t skimp on the gift. I‘ll surely prepare a big wedding gift for you. You‘ll be satisfied with the gift!”

He patted his chest in assurance as he wanted to stay longer. He finally got to see her. It would be a shame to leave like this. Besides, her beauty was eye–catching. When he saw her in the kitchen earlier, her appearance shocked him. Now, she had showered and looked fresh, wearing an avocado–green colored dress. She washed her hair, and it dropped naturally on her shoulder. There was a hint of a fragrance emanating from her. When she giggled and looked up, she was really charming. She had a sweet and slightly seductive appearance. The sexy appearance concealed a playful girl. He could see resoluteness in her when she chased him away earlier. Brandon had never met such a woman before. Alexander found a true treasure.”

“Okay.” Lily chuckled, “What big gift is it? Can you promise that we‘ll be satisfied with it?”

“You‘ll be satisfied with it!” Brandon was very sure of this. All women were the same. They liked jewelry, handbags, and clothes. If anything, he just needed to spend more money on it. How difficult could it be?

He might not be good in other matters, but he was still good at pleasing women. “If we‘re not satisfied?” Lily asked again after taking a sip of the soup.

“If you‘re not satisfied...” Brandon looked at Alexander, but he kept silent. It was apparent that he handed her the right to speak and control the situation.

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 474

“If you‘re not satisfied with it, I‘ll gift you the building in the eastern suburb!” Brandon said through gritted teeth. Lily gave it some thought. Although she did not know the significance of that building, nor did she need it, she took it as a bet and played along, nodding as she replied, “Sure!”

Brandon breathed out a sigh of relief after hearing that. He adjusted his seat and asked carefully, “Then... can I have dinner here?”

“Of course! We‘re very welcoming to our guests, and it‘s only right that we invite you to stay for dinner,” Lily assured him, smiling ever so kindly.

That made Brandon speechless because he seemed to remember that a certain couple had threatened him a while ago. They would have kicked him out of the house if he had not rephrased himself.

She isn‘t an angel! She‘s a devil and a bewitching one at that!

After ensuring he could stay, Brandon returned to his usual lively self, initiating conversations as they ate. “Oh right, we‘ve been talking for so long, but I‘m not sure how to address you yet, beautiful.”

Lily glanced at Alexander and smiled. “You can call me Mrs. Russell.”

Since Alexander and Lily were getting married soon, calling her Mrs. Russell seemed appropriate. However, that meant she avoided Brandon‘s question indirectly and did not give him her name. He only had one thought in mind now. This woman is a cunning one!‘

He did not give up and continued to ask, “No. I mean, I know that you‘re Mrs. Russell, but... what‘s your name? My name is Brandon Oakley, and I‘m happy to meet you! What‘s your name, Mrs. Russell?”

Anticipation was written all over his face. Lily looked at him, gently smiling as she said, “Mr. Oakley, don‘t you think it‘s inappropriate to ask for my name in front of my husband?”

Smiling, she dropped the question and just stopped talking at once.

Brandon was rendered speechless. ‘What kind of conservative mindset is that? I was just asking for her name!

Initially, he wanted to go on but caught sight of Alexander from his peripheral vision. It made him swallow his words and change the topic of conversation instead. “Then, how did the both of you meet?” This was something he was truly curious about. He wondered how Lily got in touch with Alexander and even managed to take the man down under his sister‘s tight defense.

‘Things that fate meant to be will be,‘ Brandon thought this quote suited the situation.

Brittany had been trying for so many years. She sent Alexander desserts and gifts from time to time. She would send him off or pick him up from the airport if she was free. She visited him at the company occasionally, but Alexander still had no feelings for her in the end.

“About that...” Lily looked at Alexander and thought,‘ Which occasion should be considered as the first time we met? Was it when I made a mistake at the competition or the time when I asked him for help a few years later?‘ “We‘re old friends,” Alexander answered the question for her before he looked over at Brandon in feigned annoyance. “Are you done? Get out if you are.”

Speechless, Brandon shook his head. “No! I‘m still eating!”

He quickly stuffed his mouth full as if to prove his words. Thoughts were running through his mind. He felt that Brittany would beat him up as he did not get Lily‘s name or how she met Alexander. ‘No, I must try again.‘

Before he could speak, Edward entered the room in hurried steps. His expression was solemn. “Mr. Russell.”

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 475

From Edward‘s solemn expression and hesitation when speaking, Alexander knew something was up. He glanced at Lily and Brandon before getting to his feet and walking further from them to speak with Edward. “What is it?”

Edward whispered some things to Alexander, which changed the latter‘s expression as he subconsciously looked in Lily‘s direction. Lily‘s heart dropped from that one look without him having to say anything.

“I got it.” Alexander nodded and walked back to the dining table while Edward stayed in his spot.

Alexander stood by the table, and Lily looked up at him. On the other hand, the nitwitted Brandon was still chunking down food, not expecting Alexander to be such a good cook that he could compare Alexander‘s dishes to a Michelin chef‘s. His attention was on the food only, and he could not care less about what the couple was talking about.

Alexander‘s gaze landed on Brandon for a moment before he looked at Lily and said solemnly, “Afire happened at Oakville Park a while ago.”

“Okay.” Lily nodded, waiting for him to continue. Before Alexander did, something flashed across her mind.‘ Oakville Park? This place sounds familiar!‘ “Isn‘t that... where Liv stays now?” Lily remembered the place because she had sent Olivia home twice before. Plus, her place was near their office building.

Alexander nodded, telling her that she was right. Instantly, shock washed over Lily, and she stood up right away.” Then, Liv...”

“The entire building went up in a blaze. Most of the residents got sent to the hospital. We‘re still trying to get the details.”

Edward got the news earlier and immediately reported it to me.

“I need to go and take a look!” Lily panted anxiously, wanting to rush out the door, but Alexander stopped her. “The firemen, police officers, and ambulances are there now. They‘re professionals. You can‘t do anything there other than be worried, and you might even disrupt their work. Stay calm. I‘ve asked Edward to find out more about the situation. We‘ll know right away once they find Olivia.”

His words made sense, but it was hard for Lily not to feel anxious.

In the few years she worked at MN Inc., Olivia was her only good friend. Olivia would stand up for her in everything, including getting back at Nathaniel for being a jerk toward her. They would often stay up late together, working on the projects.

Olivia would be considerate of Lily no matter what she did. As compared to a friend, Olivia felt more like family to Lily, so how could she not panic now that she heard something might have happened to Olivia? However, Alexander’s words reminded Lily of something.

Lily looked at her home clothes and understood it was inappropriate to rush to the scene looking like that. Hence, she nodded calmly. “Okay, I‘ll go and get changed quickly. We‘ll head over immediately if there‘s any news about her, regardless if it‘s good or bad.” Although Lily tried to calm herself down, her voice still trembled. She was afraid that bad news would return to them.

“Don‘t worry. I‘ll stay with you.” Alexander held her hand, comforting Lily and trying to give her the strength to get through this.

Lily ascended the stairs while Alexander watched her, sighing in his heart. When he turned around, he saw Brandon, who was dumbfounded. The latter had finally stopped eating and looked at Alexander in confusion, his mouth slightly agape.

Seeing that Alexander was looking at him, he put down the spoon in his hand. “Uh... were you guys referring to the run down apartment at Oakville Park? The one you said went up in flames?”

“Yeah.”

“That place is not well–maintained, and even the wire circuits are in terrible condition. Although its location is quite strategic, it has been cast aside and not adequately maintained for far too long. Also, the city council had plans to rebuild the place.

I‘m not surprised that a fire happened there, but...” Brandon was familiar with that area. It was just that he found it unusual for them to be nervous.

“Your wife was quite anxious after hearing the news. She doesn‘t have any relatives staying there, does she?” ‘This beautiful lady refuses to tell me her name, and I have no idea about her family background. If she‘s from a low income family, I won‘t be surprised if she has any relatives staying there. Still, only two types of people would reside there–low–income families who have been residents since day one or tenants from other cities. The tenants who would rent this place were probably not financially well–off either. That was why they chose to stay there; it was cheap.‘

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 476

‘If her family stays there, her family isn‘t doing well financially then.‘

“No.” Alexander shook his head. “It‘s her co–worker.”

“Co–worker?” Brandon widened his eyes in disbelief, not expecting to hear that at all. “She was so...” Brandon saw how anxious and panicky Lily was earlier, which looked like something had happened to her relatives, but it was just her co–worker? He did not know co–workers had such good relationships in the workplace these days. “They‘re good friends,” Alexander explained, knowing Brandon‘s doubts.

Brandon gave him a thumbs up. “She‘s an amazing friend!

Alexander rolled his eyes at Brandon before saying in a serious tone again, “We can‘t keep you here any longer for real now. Edward can‘t send you back either, so you need to drive yourself home. Go to the porch and pick a car out yourself.”

Out of the conversations they had the entire night, Alexander‘s words right now were the best thing Brandon had heard. “Sure! I got this!” Brandon nodded and walked over. When he reached Alexander‘s side, he stopped and threw the latter a glance. “There‘s still something I want to ask.”

“What is it?” Alexander gave him a sideway look and asked, his brow raised.

Brandon turned to look at the stairs behind him first, and when he made sure that Lily was not coming down yet, he turned back again to ask Alexander, “What is your wife‘s surname?”

Before Alexander got mad, Brandon explained himself first, “You don‘t want to hear me calling her ‘beautiful‘ or ‘angel‘ every time I see her next time, do you? I wouldn‘t mind calling her that, but you can‘t say that I‘m teasing her.”

Alexander could not stand him anymore.

Lily‘s surname was not a secret anyway. The news of their marriage would be published all over social media soon.

“Her surname is Christian.”

“Okay!” Brandon gestured an okay with his fingers then left happily. As he was told, he picked a car from the porch and drove away. Rubbing his belly, he felt that today‘s visit was worthwhile. He managed to meet Lily, got to know her surname, and even got the chance to have dinner made by Alexander. At this moment, life was worth living to him again.

In retrospect, all the incidents in the past did not matter anymore! It was just that Brandon could not think of anyone with the surname ‘Christian‘ among the people he knew. ‘Could it be that she really came from an ordinary family?‘

Lily came downstairs after changing into a pair of casual clothes. The departure of Brandon did not surprise her at all. In fact, it would be weirder if he had stayed under such circumstances.

“How is it?” The only thing she cared about now was Olivia‘s situation.

“They‘re almost done with the rescue, and all the injured ones were sent to the hospital. As the situation is quite complicated, they are still confirming everyone‘s identity. We can head over to the hospital to take a look now though.”

That was exactly what Lily wanted. Without any hesitation, she agreed, “Let‘s make"

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 477

As the fire happened at night and affected the entire apartment building, many residents were injured as they were already asleep when the accident happened. Doctors and nurses of The People‘s Hospital drowned in work in the dead of night. The place was noisy because of the number of victims.

The hospital‘s lobby was chaotic as cries and wails echoed in every corner.

Lily walked among the sea of people with Alexander by her side while Edward walked in front, opening up a path for them. The trio found Olivia after a short while.

Her injuries were considered light compared to the other victims; one side of her arm and cheek was slightly burnt, while there were wounds on her knees and ankles because she fell down when she ran out of the apartment.

However, her mother‘s situation did not look that well. She was sent into the operating room and was still under rescue, leaving Olivia to cry outside the door.

“Liv!” Lily spotted Olivia from a distance and quickened her steps.

“Lily? Lily!” Olivia, as if seeing her life savior, ran over to Lily. “My mom, she‘s...” “It‘s okay. Everything will be all right!” Lily had heard about the situation already and comforted her. However, she was unsure about the outcome of the operation.

After looking Olivia up and down and ensuring she was not severely injured, Lily finally breathed a sigh of relief.“ Thank God you‘re okay! I’m sure your mom will be fine too.”

“My mom was protecting me. She woke up first and came to wake me up, but everywhere was already burning. She got slammed by a falling wood because she was protecting me. It‘s my fault. I–I was...” Olivia mumbled incoherently toward the end.

Lily and Alexander could tell that she suffered a great shock.

The operation was still ongoing, and Alexander did not persuade Lily to go home and rest. Instead, he got Edward to bring them some snacks and hot drinks. However, none of them had any appetite now as the atmosphere was solemn.

Some victims were undergoing surgery, while others who were lightly injured were getting their wounds treated. Some broke their limbs, and others lost their lives. Cries filled the place up as it was a terrible night for everyone.

Although Lily was far from the crowd, her heart was in pain at the sight of them. A moment later, the lights in the operation room dimmed. A doctor exited through the door and took off his mask. At the sight of him, Olivia pounced over. “Doctor! Is my mom okay? The operation was a success, right?” Faintly, the doctor looked at Olivia before shaking his head, sighing, “I‘m sorry. We...”

“No! That can‘t be!” Olivia interrupted before the doctor could finish his sentence. She took a few steps back, shaking her head. “That‘s impossible! My mom is fine! She has to be!”

“Her spleen was damaged, and she lost too much blood. I‘m sorry. We did all we could to save your mother.”

After he said that, a nurse pushed the hospital bed out of the operating room. A white cloth covered the person lying on the bed. Olivia said nothing more and stared at the bed blankly, refusing to walk over.

Alexander noticed that Lily’s face was white as well. She was staring at the bed and the white cloth on it. Her hands were even trembling lightly.

“No. No...” Olivia took two steps back, trying to tell herself this was a misunderstanding, but a moment later, she approached the bed and reached for the white cloth.

However, her hands were trembling so hard that she could not even hold the cloth tightly between her fingertips. Edward, standing at the side all this while, went forward and lifted the cloth for her, revealing a blood–stained and pale face. In that instant, Olivia wailed, “Mom? Mom!”

On the other hand, Lily felt a stinging pain in her head. Something about Olivia‘s cry had revealed something hidden within Lily. Many things flashed across her mind at this moment, but she could not take the pain. It made her feel like her head was about to explode. Her vision was blurry, and her head was dizzy.

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 478

“Lily, Lily...” Alexander called out. He had been observing her and held her in his arms immediately, preventing her from falling to the ground when he sensed she was not feeling well.

On the other hand, Olivia was crying her heart out and could not bring herself to notice anything else around her while Lily passed out.

“Edward, take care of Ms. Hart,” Alexander ordered calmly.

Edward nodded and stood by Olivia‘s side silently. He placed his hands on her shoulders, supporting her.

Alexander carried Lily in his arms and went straight for the doctor. “Someone fainted over here!”

“You‘re going to kill your parents!”

“They died because of you!”

“Why are you still alive, but they‘re not? That‘s because you brought bad luck to them!” “Daddy! Mommy! Please don‘t leave me! No...” “Daddy, Mornmy...

Several voices echoed around Lily‘s ears. It sounded like they were talking to her, but also not at the same time. She saw many double images but not their faces. There was a loud noise, fire, fragments of broken glass, and a blood stained face. Everything seemed to be so near, yet so far.

“Daddy! Mommy! Don‘t go...”

“Ah!” With a sudden exclamation, Lily opened her eyes abruptly. The white ceiling was the first thing that entered her sight. The entirety of the whiteness that filled her view diluted the terror she felt from her bloody red dream. She gasped for air while sweat dotted her face. “You‘re awake!” A familiar voice sounded. It was near her, so she turned and saw Alexander‘s worried face. “Did you have a nightmare?”

At the sight of him, she calmed down. Lily nodded, her throat feeling extremely hoarse. “Water...”

Alexander quickly brought the water he had prepared to Lily. She gulped the glass of water down like someone without water for many days in the desert.

“Do you want some more?” Alexander asked. Lily shook her head and lay down weakly. She could still remember the scenes from her dream, but most were blurry to her. Lily felt that the incidents in her dream had happened to her before this. However, she had no recollection of it at all.

To be exact, she had no memory of it before she fainted earlier.

“The doctor said you fainted because you were too shocked. It‘s fine now that you‘re awake.” Alexander brushed her hair lightly, “Do you feel uncomfortable anywhere?”

“No.” Lily shook her head and suddenly remembered something. “Oh, right. How‘s Liv?”

“She‘s fine. Edward is with her. The nurse moved Liv‘s mother to the mortuary, and her funeral will be held soon,” Alexander explained. It was comforting for Lily to hear that because at least there was someone by Olivia‘s side.

“I‘m really...” Sighing, Lily did not know what to feel about her situation. She came here to comfort Olivia, but she was the one who fainted first.

“Don‘t overthink it. Olivia won‘t blame you, and she understands your situation. Just take care of yourself and rest for now.” Alexander pulled the blankets over Lily.“ You‘ll need to stay here for the night so the doctors can observe your condition. They‘ll discharge you tomorrow once we‘re sure you‘re fine.”

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 479

She did not argue with him. It was a wise choice to rest there as it was already late at night. However, she dared not shut her eyes. She feared those terrible sounds and scenes in the dream would reappear if she closed her eyes. She held Alexander‘s hand to prevent him from leaving, “Chat with me for a while.”

“What do you want to talk about?” He sat down at the bedside and looked at her tenderly.

“Anything is fine! Why don‘t you tell me more about yourself?” Lily requested after some thought. She had known him for a long time but never asked him anything about himself. She only knew that the Russell family was big, but she had never met them since they got together.

“About me?” He laughed. “There‘s nothing special!”

‘Oh my, he was too modest to claim there was anything special even though Alexander‘s life could be the subject of a biography. If his life was unremarkable, what about the lives of other regular people? A simple life?‘ “Then, tell me about your family.” Lily adjusted to a more comfortable position and asked, “You‘ve never told me about your family. Who are your family members? We‘re planning to have a wedding soon. It‘s only right to meet them, right?”

“You‘ll meet them soon, but it‘s not important. They are all irrelevant people. What‘s important is that you are with me!” His voice remained gentle, but his gaze became deep. His words sounded fine, but Lily felt something was out of place. What did he mean by irrelevant people? Those were his family.

Alexander curled his lips as he could guess her thought,” Are you thinking that they were my family members?” “Yeah.” She nodded. Could it be that they aren‘t?

“They are in terms of blood. However, would you call them family if they had been sending various assassins to kill you and find all means to frame you since you were young?” His tone was monotonous and without the slightest fluctuation, but Lily could hear the coldness in his words.

His words were like icy cold knives that would not produce the slightest sound even if they penetrated the flesh. However, they were cold to the bone. The piercing pain could be felt only when the chill spread. ‘Oh my God! What did he go through when he was young?!‘

Everyone said the new head of the Russell family was a cruel, bloody, and brutal man. Who knew what he went through? If all those happened, how did he survive?

“Don‘t look at me like that. I‘m not as great as you think.” He lovingly scratched her nose and chuckled, “When you grow up in that environment, you need to get used to some things. Survival instinct is something that you learn naturally in the Russell family.” Alexander briefly paused before continuing, “There‘s no need to be afraid. Now, I‘m the head of the family. No one dares to do anything to you. Besides, we don’t live in the Russell family house. Everything‘s fine.”

“Okay!” Lily nodded hard and put his hand on her cheek,“ I‘m not afraid as I have you by my side!”

Her whole–hearted trust warmed Alexander‘s heart. She was just like an obedient kitten who was lovely, cute, and well–behaved. She truly believed him and was not afraid of him. She was also not a gold digger who clung to him.

Lily was invaluable to him. She was his precious treasure, and he was willing to protect her with all his heart.

“Go to sleep!” He hooked her finger and tickled her cheek. Lily smiled and shrank her neck to hide from his finger. After a while, she felt her eyelid become heavier and gradually fell asleep.

Alexander looked at her smiling face, but the smile on his face gradually disappeared. He looked at her with conflicted eyes. Although her mumbling during her dream was vague, he could hear her calling her father and mother. She was obviously dreaming about them.

Spoiled by Mr. Russell Chapter 480

If he remembered correctly, her parents died in an airplane crash when she was young. She should not remember much about it as she was still a kid at that time and was not on the plane. Could it be because she missed them too much?

When they returned to the Lodge family, she did not show an intense yearning for her parents. Why did she suddenly faint today? Could the scene where Olivia‘s mother was hurt be the trigger?

It looked like she had a fragile heart!

“S–Something happened,” He gasped loudly and hid in a messy room to make a phone call. The room was filthy, the lights were not turned on, and slivers of moonlight shone coldly on the floor.

“What are you panicking about? Didn‘t you say that you‘ll deal with it?!” The receiver used a voice modulator. Although his voice sounded very hoarse and strange, his impatience was obvious.

“I did not expect it to be such a big fire. Moreover, there were so many people in that old building.” His hands and feet could not stop shaking even though he hid in the darkest corner.

He was genuinely surprised by how many people were inside. He assumed there were not many people living in

that old building. It was well past midnight and dark as many homes did not have any lights on. How come there were so many people?!

When he hid in the crowd and saw all the bodies that were carried out, he almost had a mental breakdown hearing the wailing and cries around him.

“Id*ot!” The receiver scolded him, “I asked you to light a small fire to scare them. Who asked you to light a big fire?! Do you still want your life? .

“I–I... You are the one who asked me to set the fire. I–I‘m at most an accomplice!” He said in a trembling voice as he tried to calm himself. That‘s right. He was just following orders and was not the mastermind. He was not to blame even if the police found him.

The receiver sneered at his words and said gloomily,” Really? Do you have any evidence?”

“Don‘t tell me that these phone calls are evidence. Do you think the police will believe you? We‘d never even met!” His words turned the man‘s face pale.

That‘s right. They always contacted each other online and by phone. All of this could be faked. He thought this was another trivial matter similar to theft or minor disturbances he had caused. This turned out to be bigger than he had anticipated.

“I–I...”

“Don‘t panic!” The voice from the phone sounded like the voice from hell. He chuckled, “Let me ask you. Were you seen when you set the fire?”

He licked his dry lips and thought about it. Then he shook his head, “No, I don‘t think so.” “Don‘t assume! You need to be sure. That place was an old community and didn‘t have surveillance cameras. You won‘t be found out as long as no one saw you. It‘s common for the old wires to short–circuit. They might not find out about what you‘re doing!”

The caller‘s words brought assurance to him. He carefully considered the situation and felt it made sense, “Yes! It‘s due to the old wires that short–circuited. I don‘t believe that it‘s my fault. It’s not related to me!” “That‘s right!” The receiver laughed, “Still, you‘d better not stay in the city for now. You should go to another city and hide for a while. I have deposited some money into your account, and it should be sufficient for you to spend for quite some time! This phone number won‘t be used anymore. Remember that, and don‘t contact me!”

“Wait, I...” The call was hung up before he could finish his sentence.
