Ch. 156..160: The Adorable Twins and Their CEO Daddy Chapter 156-160

Chapter 156

While she was talking with Hodge, Eliana kept in touch with Nana on the phone.

Nana heard their whole conversation and immediately realized that something was wrong.

“It’s time! Guys, get going!” she ordered. “You must catch Hodge!”

Nana stood up and rushed out, taking several strong men with her.

A waiter carrying a large tray of coffee appeared at the door, blocking their way out.

Nana couldn’t stop in time.

“Lady and gentlemen, your coffee… Ah!”

“Fuck!”

Nana slammed into the waiter and knocked the coffee off of the tray and onto the heads of the strong men.

The only exit was blocked. The scene dissolved into chaos.

“I’m sorry!”

Nana struggled quickly to her feet and rushed for the door.

She ran right into another person; it was Eliana, who was chasing Hodge.

“Ouch!”

The impact knocked both of them to the floor.

The men had recovered from being soaked with coffee and finally caught up with Nana. They stopped sharply, narrowly avoiding stepping on the two women.

Eliana felt dizzy. There was only one thought in her mind.

“Damn it! Hodge!” she shouted.

During the chaos, Hodge had fled to the road.

A Volkswagen stopped in front of him.

By the time Eliana got to her feet, it was too late.

All she could do was watch Hodge jump into the car and speed away.

Maurice had been watching from the sidelines. His moment had finally arrived.

“Corbin, follow him!”

One coveted gains ahead without being aware of danger behind.

Maurice had been observing the whole situation in the cafe, and had already asked Corbin to guard outside.

Corbin immediately stomped on the gas and pursued Hodge.

The two cars sped down the road.

“Hurry up! There is a car chasing us!”

Hodge’s heart skipped a beat when he noticed his pursuer.

The driver glanced into the rearview mirror and silently stepped on the accelerator.

“Corbin, what’s going on?”

Corbin and Maurice were speaking on the phone.

“Don’t worry, boss. I’m a talented racing driver.”

With a confident smile, Corbin stepped on the gas again to close the distance.

Hodge looked back at the Audi coming up behind him. His heart felt like it would pound out of his chest.

The man in a floral shirt who was sitting next to him looked calm. “Why are you panicking? Has she told you where the ring is?”

“Eliana tricked us. She didn’t tell me anything. She didn’t know where the ring is.”

Hodge looked upset.

“So… you will be of no more use to us,” the man in the flowery shirt said coldly. He reached over and closed his hands around Hodge’s neck.

“As the boss said, there can be only one end for useless pawns!”

Hodge’s eyes widened in disbelief and he struggled fiercely.

The man’s strong hands were like iron pliers, almost twisting Hodge’s neck.

Hodge’s face turned red and contorted in pain. He couldn’t breathe and felt that his throat was being crushed into pieces.

If he couldn’t free himself quickly, he would die.

Just then, their car crossed a bridge and another car cut in front of them.

The driver braked and both Hodge and the other man were sent sprawling forward.

The iron grip on Hodge’s neck loosened. Hodge gasped for air and kicked the man’s crotch. The man doubled over in pain.

Now!

Hodge pushed the door open and jumped out of the car.

Corbin was startled to see a figure leap out of the car.

Without meaning to, he swerved to avoid the figure.

Bang!

The Audi crashed into the guardrail of the bridge. The window shattered and the airbag deployed. Corbin was thrown into the airbag and he fainted.

Maurice was still on the phone with him.

“Corbin! Corbin!”

Maurice raised his voice in desperation, but there was no reply.

Chapter 157

The impact caused Hodge to roll on the road, which might have led to broken bones.

He rolled over several times. But despite his injuries, Hodge stood up and stumbled forward.

In the car, the man in the flowery shirt came back to his senses. The sharp pain in his crotch made him look ferocious.

“Knock him down! Kill him!”

Upon receiving the order, the driver then maneuvered the car. He made a sharp turn and drove fast in Hodge’s direction.

Hodge closed his eyes in hopelessness as he saw the car approaching fast.

The next second, Hodge was knocked to the ground, blood gushing from his body.

Meanwhile, the car immediately drove away, joining the heavy traffic on the bridge.

Only Hodge, who was lying on the ground, and Corbin, who was unconscious in the car not far away, remained at the scene.

When Eliana took a taxi to catch up with Hodge, the bridge was closed as two ambulances blocked the way. A huge crowd of onlookers obstructed the path ahead.

Eliana tried her best to push her way through the crowd, only to see medical personnel in the middle of the road carrying the unconscious Corbin into an ambulance. His head was covered in blood, Corbin! Why was he here? Did Maurice send him here?

But Eliana didn’t have time to think about Corbin at that moment.

She noticed Hodge on another stretcher. The blood flowing from his body had stained the stretcher, and medical personnel were giving him first-aid treatment.

Hodge seemed to be in a more critical stage than Corbin.

Eliana’s heartbeat quickened, and she dashed towards Hodge.

Eliana was stopped by the medical staff. “Miss, you can’t come here. We’re taking the patient to the hospital shortly.”

“I’ll go with you, Doc. I know the man on the stretcher. He is Hodge Chadwick,” Eliana explained anxiously.

The medical staff hesitated for a moment before agreeing.

Eliana got into the ambulance and accompanied Hodge to the hospital.

“Eliana…”

Hodge, who had received emergency treatment, regained consciousness and noticed Eliana sitting beside him.

“Hodge! You’re awake!”

Eliana gripped Hodge’s hand tightly, her emotions tangled. “You still haven’t told me the truth. You can’t die.”

When people were dying, they became kind and honest. Hodge couldn’t help but feel guilty as he stared at Eliana.

“Eliana… Sorry… I… lied… The Pierce family… was plotted against by the one… from the Moran… fami…”

He lost consciousness before he could even finish his sentence.

Eliana was shocked. “Hodge! Hodge!”

“His heart has stopped beating. Please step aside, miss!”

The medical personnel approached Hodge to revive him.

After some time, the ambulance arrived at the hospital. Hodge was immediately taken to the operating room.

Eliana was left outside the operating room’s door. There were stains of blood in her skin.

At that exact moment, Eliana felt as if she was transported back to the day of her father’s death. She witnessed her father, who was also covered in blood, being pushed into the operating room.

When she saw him again, he was already wrapped in a thick white cloth.

Her mother then committed suicide three days after her father died. She was still rushed to the hospital, but she didn’t survive.

Eliana completely broke down when she saw her mother’s pale face covered in white cloth.

She’d cried nonstop for two days and two nights in the hospital, until she could no longer shed a tear.

The desperate and painful memories washed over her like a flood.

Her consciousness gradually blurred as her father’s blood-splattered face and her mother’s cold body reappeared in her mind.

Eliana eventually couldn’t hold on and fell down.

Luckily, a pair of strong arms caught her. She could feel herself being held in a warm embrace.

Chapter 158

Was it Preston?

Eliana’s first thought was that the warm arms around her must be Preston’s.

She raised her head and saw Maurice’s handsome and cold face.

He was the last person Eliana wanted to see right now.

“Maurice, why was Corbin at the scene of Hodge’s car accident?”

The question had been bothering her from the moment she saw Corbin.

Now that Maurice was here, she could demand an answer.

She didn’t want to believe that Maurice was the one responsible for her parents’ death, but why was Corbin there? What on Earth had Maurice ordered him to do?

Eliana’s expression was cold, but her heart was burning with anger that threatened to set both her and Maurice on fire.

Maurice was silent.

Eliana grabbed his collar in an iron grip.

“Did you plan all of this? You already knew my identity, but you didn’t deliberately expose me. Do you think it’s amusing to see me looking for evidence beside you every day? If Hodge hadn’t told me, I would still be in the dark. Maurice, how long do you want to play games with me?”

Maurice was flustered by Eliana’s rising hysteria.

He had never seen Eliana like this. She was like an erupting volcano in the form of a woman, or a glass bottle vibrating at such high speeds that it was sure to shatter.

His mind was in chaos. He needed to explain. “Eliana, calm down! I…”

Before Maurice could continue, the door of the operating room was opened and a doctor emerged.

Eliana immediately approached him. “Doctor, how is he?”

The doctor sighed and shook his head. “I’m sorry. We’ve done all we can. The patient has suffered extremely severe injuries and he has fallen into a deep coma. It is unlikely that he will ever wake up. You have to be mentally prepared. Treatment is not inexpensive.”

Hodge might never wake up?

Eliana staggered backward a few steps until Maurice caught her.

“Miss, are you a relative of the patient?” the doctor asked.

“No, I’m just a person who knows him.” Eliana shook her head.

“Can you help me contact his family? We need his family to sign the operation agreement.”

The doctor handed over the paperwork.

Eliana lowered her head. She knew that Hodge had divorced and his children had gone abroad. He had no family at home.

“I will sign it.”

Eliana took the operation agreement and signed her name on it.

It was so funny. A few hours ago, Hodge had been her enemy, but now she was trying to help keep him alive.

While Eliana was lost in thought, a nurse came over with the bill.

“This bill is for Hodge’s family.”

Eliana took the bill, then walked to the cashier and handed over her bank card.

“I’m sorry, miss. You do not have enough money on your card.”

Not enough?

Eliana had been so agitated that she hadn’t even taken a proper look at the bill. Now she looked closer. When she saw the huge number, her heart sank.

She couldn’t afford such an expensive treatment.

“Are you going to pay or not? We don’t have all day.”

The people in line behind Eliana began to complain. Eliana didn’t know what to do.

“Use my card.”

A slender but powerful hand gave a black card to the cashier.

It was Maurice.

Eliana opened her mouth to refuse. But she couldn’t. If this bill wasn’t paid, Hodge would die.

After the bill had been paid, the two of them walked back silently.

Walking behind Maurice and staring at his silent back, Eliana couldn’t help but sneer, “Why did you pay for Hodge’s treatment? Aren’t you looking forward to his death? If Hodge dies, then no one will know what you have done, right?”

Chapter 159

Maurice stopped.

He turned around and stared coldly at Eliana.

“Do you think I’m that stupid to ask Corbin to kill Hodge?”

“Now that Corbin is in a coma, you can say whatever you want,” Eliana sneered.

“Is that how you see me?”

Maurice couldn’t contain his anger. He moved forward and grabbed Eliana’s arm, only to discover that her body temperature was not normal.

Eliana’s temperature was unusually high.

“You have a fever?”

Maurice frowned, and his anger disappeared in an instant.

“So what? It’s none of your concern. Let go of me!”

Eliana fought valiantly, but she was dizzy. She didn’t have enough strength to slip from Maurice’s hold.

After a few moments, she felt that Maurice was already lifting her.

“Maurice, what the hell are you doing?” Eliana struggled. “Put me down!”

Maurice looked down at the frail woman in his arms. “Be quiet. If you are certain that I am your enemy, you should take care of yourself first. Only when you live longer will you be able to exact your revenge on me.”

“You’re insane!”

Eliana was very annoyed. She bit Maurice on the neck.

Eliana showed no mercy to him. She didn’t stop, even when she had already tasted blood.

“Ouch…” Maurice took a deep breath.

‘She really has a bad temper,’ he concluded.

Maurice didn’t stop her until Eliana had vented most of her anger and frustration.

Eliana calmed down after biting Maurice hard.

She had no strength to argue with Maurice any further and eventually fell asleep in his arms.

Maurice carried her into the car and then drove back to the Moran family’s old house.

When they reached the house, Maurice brought her all the way to a room. Eliana regained consciousness after he put her down on a bed.

She could tell it wasn’t her home.

“Maurice, you wretch! Where did you take me?” Eliana murmured. Her voice showed that she was really not feeling well.

Maurice couldn’t decide whether to laugh or cry. Despite her condition, Eliana still had the strength to scold him.

“You take care of her from now on,” he told the butler and servants before dismissing them.

“Yes, Mr. Moran,” the servants responded with bowed heads.

Eliana suddenly came to her senses. Without saying anything, she leaped out of bed, wanting to leave. But Maurice pushed her back into bed.

“Are you going to lock me up?” Eliana asked impatiently. “What on earth do you want to do, Maurice?”

“Stay here if you still want Hodge to continue his treatment. If you dare to leave, then I will just let him die,” Maurice threatened.

“Ridiculous! Do you really think I care about him? If he died, then it would be a good thing.”

In a rage, Eliana struggled to get out of bed again.

“You don’t care about Hodge, alright. But how about your other friends? Trust me, my resources are not what you can imagine.”

What he had just said sent shivers down Eliana’s spine.

She remembered her children.

Maurice would not let her children go once he found out about them.

Eliana also thought of Nana, who had run out on a wedding.

She couldn’t bear thinking about it any longer.

She clenched her teeth and hissed, “Maurice, you’re such a jerk!”

Maurice just looked at her indifferently.

“Remember, you cannot bear the consequences of running away from me.”

He then turned around, exited the room, and locked the door.

The room fell silent. Eliana lied down on the bed helplessly, gasping for air.

She couldn’t just sit there doing nothing.

After resting for a while and regaining some strength, Eliana stood up, walked to the window, and pushed it open.

She saw things she would never have seen in the city. It was a manor surrounded by trees, with a large courtyard and a massive iron gate.

It wasn’t her first time at the place. It was Maurice’s suburban villa.

The cold wind blew on her face. Eliana, who was still a little groggy a few minutes ago, immediately felt better.

Looking down at the view, she thought about how she could escape.

After a while, she still couldn’t come up with a good idea, so she leaned out the window to get a better look.

However, a maid opened the room’s door at that exact moment and saw her in that position.

“Ah! Miss! Please don’t! Don’t do it! We are on the third floor!”

The maid’s scream resounded throughout the entire manor.

Chapter 160

The moment Eliana heard the maid’s bloodcurdling scream, she stepped back in fear.

The maid ran to her side and closed the window.

“Ma’am, please don’t harm yourself.”

Panicking, she looked at the woman in front of her, whom Maurice had carried back in his arms.

With a bitter smile, Eliana said, “Don’t worry. I just wanted to open the window to see where I was.”

After hearing that, the maid breathed a sigh of relief.

“Ma’am, you are the first woman that Mr. Moran had brought home. If something happens to you, I will be punished for it!” the maid said in an anxious voice.

However, Eliana did not believe her at all.

“You’re kidding, right? He’s skilled in kidnapping people! He should be bringing women home often!” Eliana scoffed.

“Everything that I said is completely true. Look, even this nightdress is new.”

The reason the maid came upstairs was to give Eliana the nightgown. She handed the nightgown to her with a smile.

“You’d better take a shower and get changed first,” the maid added softly, looking at Eliana imploringly.

Looking down at her bloodstained clothes, Eliana had no choice but to compromise.

“Okay, give it to me.”

Holding the nightgown in her hand, she walked to the bathroom, removed her bloodstained clothes, and took a shower.

She felt a lot better when she walked out of the bathroom.

All of a sudden, she heard her phone ring. She immediately turned around and saw that it was a call from Nana.

“Hey! Eliana, where are you? Have you caught Hodge yet?”

Nana was staying home with Adrian and Aileen.

She was really anxious because she hadn’t been able to get in touch with Eliana or Corbin ever since Eliana went after Hodge.

“Nana, don’t worry. I’ll talk to you about Hodge in detail once I come back. Please take care of the kids for the time being. I’m now…”

Before she could finish her words, a female doctor walked in with a bottle of medicine.

“Where are you?” Nana asked.

After careful consideration, Eliana decided not to tell her the truth, because she knew that Nana would come to Maurice’s place and cause trouble if she knew that she was in his house.

Thinking of Maurice’s threats, Eliana shuddered.

“Don’t worry, I’m fine. I just couldn’t catch Hodge and was in a bad mood. I’ll come back once I calm down.”

Nana was still suspicious. “Really?”

“Yes, I promise,” Eliana replied.

After coaxing Nana, she hung up and saw the doctor waiting for her.

“Miss Pierce…” The doctor looked at her, feeling embarrassed.

“I’m sorry for wasting your time. Please tell Maurice that he doesn’t have to be so concerned about me. I just want him to let me leave this place at once.”

The doctor could not convince her to take the medicine, so she put it down and left.

Eliana refused to eat or take the medicine, so her fever got worse. She was feeling very weak by that evening.

She curled up under the covers, feeling the sudden heat and cold in her body. Her hands and feet were also cold, and she couldn’t think straight.

While she was delirious, the door was pushed open, and she sensed the fragrance of soup.

“Get up and eat,” Maurice said, walking in with a bowl of cream of mushroom soup in his hand.

As he looked at the untouched medicine on the table, his voice became cold.

Although Eliana had her eyes closed, she could still feel his icy gaze.

She silently pulled up the quilt and turned her back to him to express her dissatisfaction. She was determined to protest till the very end.

Seeing that, Maurice was furious.

He put the soup on the bedside table, picked up the medicine, and put it into his mouth. He then took a sip of water, pulled Eliana up from the bed, and kissed her. Her eyes widened in surprise.

“Hmm… Hmm…”

Eliana struggled in vain.

The moment she opened her mouth, he let the water and medicine in his mouth flow into hers.

After doing what he wanted, he stepped back.

Eliana coughed and was about to spit out the medicine.

“If you dare to spit it out, then I’ll have sex with you,” Maurice threatened her.

Eliana hesitated and swallowed the medicine unconsciously.
