Chapter 46 Make A Scene In The Kindergarten

It’s none of your business."

Eliana glanced at Erica coldly before she looked at the girl beside her.

‘What a small world!’ She never imagined that Erica and Asher’s kid would also go to the same kindergarten as her kids.

However, Erica was not willing to let her go.

"What? You’re scared to tell me? Did you have some random stranger’s child? Eliana, what kind of a s**t are you?"

Eliana didn’t want to talk to her at all, so she turned to the teacher and asked, "Can I go inside to see the kids now?"

But then, before the teacher answered, Erica grabbed her hand and pulled her back.

"You can’t!"

Eliana shook off her hand and looked at her coldly.

"Erica, do you own this place? What makes you think that you have any right to stop me?"

Seeing them in a stalemate, the teacher rushed forward to stop them.

"Please, calm down, ladies… Ah!"

However, Erica pushed her away before she could even finish speaking.

Helping the teacher steady herself, Eliana looked at Erica with a frown.

"Miss Walker, this is the best kindergarten in the city. Why do you accept such illegitimate kids? Bastards don’t deserve to be in the same kindergarten as my daughter!"

Erica scorned at the teacher.

Ivy Harrison, who was dressed in a princess gown, shook her hand and asked in a daze, "Mom, what is a b*****d?"

Erica covered her mouth before she answered with a smirk, "A b*****d is…"

"Shut up!"

Eliana interrupted her coldly.

"How could you speak such vulgar words in front of your child?"

"Stop lecturing me!"

Erica roared before she raised her hand, intending to slap her.

However, someone suddenly grabbed her wrist so hard that she could not help but scream.

"Ah! It hurts!"

Eliana looked at the strange man in surprise. He was tall and strong, dressed in a black suit.

The man pushed Erica’s hand away, making her stagger to the gate.

Embarrassed, her arrogance vanished.

The other parents exclaimed among themselves before they escorted their kids away.

"She deserves it…"

"She must have offended the wrong person…"

They were talking among themselves in whispers.

Unable to keep her countenance, Erica gathered her courage and shouted at the man, "Who are you? And how dare you hit me? Do you know who my husband is?"

He cast a cold glance at her and stepped back with his head down.

Two kids ran from behind him and rushed to Eliana.

"Mommy!"

Eliana squatted down, embracing Adrian and Aileen.

Looking at their watery eyes, she felt her anger dissipate.

Their cute faces were filled with worry.

"Mommy, are you hurt?"

"That woman is a bad person! How could she try to hit you? Fortunately, Silas’s bodyguard is here!"

Eliana’s heart softened when she heard those words. She kissed her children on the cheeks and assured them, "Don’t worry.I’m fine. It’s not right to hit people, and I hope you understand that."

Adrian and Aileen nodded.

Erica hid behind the teacher and said in a tone filled with arrogance, "Miss Walker! Ask the security guards to drive them out!"

The teacher also felt embarrassed and was about to say something, but she stopped on second thought.

In the blink of an eye, the kindergarten was filled with people. It was really chaotic.

"You are the one who should be driven out."

Saying that, Silas walked out slowly, like a nobleman.

Erica’s face turned red with anger.

"You brat! How dare you order your bodyguard to hit me?! Where are your parents? Call them over at once!"

She almost scratched his face with her long sharp nails But before she could make a move, Eliana stood in front of him.

The bodyguard also stepped forward, glaring at Erica fiercely.

Erica instantly became a coward again, turned to the teacher and said, "Miss Walker, call his parents here! Or ask the principal to come over at once! You are not to leave this place without settling this first!"

"Well…"

The teacher pulled a long face and looked at Silas before uttering, "Mrs.Harrison, this child is in a special situation, so I advise you to let it go."

"You want me to let it go? Why? Did you not see them bullying me?"

Erica was furious.

Seeing that, the teacher became speechless.

Eliana squatted down to comfort the kids as she wondered how she was going to put an end to the farce.

The kids had been looking forward to the summer camp for months, and she did not want it to be ruined because of Erica.

With a straight face, Silas said in a serious tone, "It’s not a big deal.Don’t worry.I’ll take care of it."

Eliana was amused by how adult-like he was.

Although he was about the same age as Adrian, he seemed to be more mature than her son.

"What’s your plan?" she asked curiously.

"We’ll have to rely on one devil to take down another devil," Silas replied in a fierce but childish voice, which caused Eliana to laugh.

By then, Silas had already called someone on the phone.

"Uncle, an ugly woman is making trouble in the kindergarten, and she is preventing me from going to the summer camp."

Saying that, he hung up quickly.

Eliana was amused by his actions.

Although he was a child, he seemed to be very smart, and she could not help but wonder whom he had learned it from.

Erica sneered, "Uncle? Why didn’t you call your parents? Are you also a b*****d? Don’t you have the mother to educate you… Ah!"

Before she could say another word, a hard slap landed on her face. She covered her burning and swollen cheek, pointing at Eliana.

"How dare you hit me?"

Rubbing her numb palm, Eliana said with a firm look, "That slap was meant to teach you to shut up if you don’t know how to talk properly."

With her eyes wide open, Erica shouted, "Eliana! I must…"

"Mrs.Harrison."

A solemn male voice interrupted them.

The principal of the kindergarten walked to them, and smiled apologetically at Eliana. He then turned to Erica, and said in a gloomy voice, "It’s a pity that your daughter is no longer allowed to participate in this summer camp."

Chapter 47 A Powerful Figure

Hushed silence fell as these words were spoken.

The shocked Eliana turned to look at Silas, stunned by what had taken place.

When their eyes met, Silas gave her a mischievous little wink. His tiny face was filled with triumph.

Erica was just as shocked, but in her case, it came with a dose of horror.

"What… What did you just say? My child paid the money and applied to join the camp! Why are you suddenly saying that she couldn’t join? Explain this instant!"

The principal didn’t seem to mind her raised voice. He began explaining in a relaxed manner, "Silas’s family sponsored the summer camp activity in full. The Gormans also sponsored our kindergarten’s teaching building and entertainment facilities.Since your child can’t get along with Silas, I appreciate it if you can leave."

Erica stood rooted to the spot, transfixed with shock. Her eyes were wide open and her jaw slackened as she tried to process the sudden tum of events.

Never did she imagine a child like Silas to be so powerful! However, she was unwilling to yield.

Gnashing her teeth, she argued, "So? Are you telling me that just because the Gormans happen to sponsor the kindergarten, they’re free to do as they please? This is injustice! You are misusing your power! I won’t stand for it!"

The surrounding parents watched the scene with growing displeasure.

The principal went out of his way to come out and deal with the problem, yet Erica remained hard- headed and had even resorted to screaming.

One by one, they began voicing their dissatisfaction and banded together to criticize her.

"Hey, lady! Quit being so unreasonable! You’re just stalling the kids’ activities!"

"Tsk, tsk.How can such an uneducated woman be worthy to be a mother? I feel bad for her daughter."

"Hurry up! I need to go to work after I send my kid! Can you afford to waste everyone’s time? You’re making it difficult for us!"

In less than a minute, Erica had become the unsavory target of the parents’ displeasure.

Scathing remarks came her way without stopping, turning her red and shaky from humiliation.

Despite all that, Erica was unwilling to embrace her defeat with grace.

Furious, she yanked her daughter’s arm roughly and stormed out of the place.

"All of you, just wait and see! You’ll pay for this! So what? My daughter doesn’t want to stay at this d**n place, either!"

Poor little Ivy couldn’t keep up with her mother’s wide strides, especially with her small feet.

Several times she stumbled and fell, hurting herself in the process.

Erica didn’t even stop or blink at her daughter, and simply grabbed the fallen little girl back up.

There wasn’t a shred of tenderness in her actions, as if she was simply lifting something from her pocket.

Erica kept on pulling Ivy’s arm, pressing her hand hard into Ivy’s tender skin.

Ivy tried to endure the pain, but she was just a small child.

In the end, Ivy held on to Erica’s leg and burst into sorrowful tears, begging piteously in a babyish voice, "Mom, I don’t want to leave! I want to go to the summer camp with everyone!"

Ivy’s saddened outburst caused Erica’s temper to flare up once more.

Furious and humiliated, she snapped harshly at the crying Ivy, "Shut up, you stupid girl! Keep crying, and I’ll abandon you!"

It was a terrible thing to say to a child.Ivy, hurt and frightened, ended up crying even more loudly.

"No, Mom! Please don’t! Don’t leave me! I promise I’ll be obedient…"

Erica clicked her tongue impatiently before picking Ivy up like a sack and leaving the place in haste.

Eliana watched their disappearing backs with an ugly frown.

Poor little Ivy.

To have a monster like Erica for a mother was truly a stroke of misfortune.

Still, nothing could be done about it.

Eliana turned to Silas with a smile and squatted next to him.

"Thank you so much for helping me solve a big problem, Silas."

Silas’s face reddened with pleasure from the praise. He pursed his lips defiantly and shook his head.

"You’re welcome!" he replied in a childish voice filled with pride.

Aileen suddenly broke free from Adrian’s grip and threw herself into Silas’s arms.

She giggled, saying, "I’ll reward you with a hug on Mommy’s behalf!"

Adrian frowned and quickly stretched out his hand to separate his sister from Silas.

"Guys and girls are different! Quit sticking to him all the time!"

Silas smiled shyly at the two of them and gently pulled away from Aileen.

Though he couldn’t receive her hug, he didn’t mind.

Instead, he simply patted Aileen’s head affectionately, the way an adult would treat a small child.

"Aileen, you can think of me like your brother too."

Silas was sensible and mature for a child. He could read the room and knew how to act.He was even far more tactful than Adrian.

Eliana recalled that Aileen once told her that Silas’s parents were long gone.

A wave of pity washed over her.She took his little hand and held him in her arms, bringing him to her in a gentle hug.

"Don’t take that awful woman’s words seriously, alright? If you have any problems, you can always come to me."

Silas’s body stiffened at the touch.

However, he quickly relaxed in Eliana’s gentle arms and hugged her back, holding on tightly to her shirt.

Such a soft, warm hug… It was just like how his mother used to hug him.

Without him realizing it, a teardrop rolled out of his eyes.It slid down his fair and tender cheek, dampening Eliana’s shirt.

Yet, nobody saw it.

Soon, Eliana accompanied the children to the bus and watched as they entered it.

The bus began to start, about to leave.

Adrian and Silas hurriedly waved goodbye to her, smiling all the way.

Aileen, however, blew her a kiss and winked at her, full of happy vigor.

When the bus moved and Eliana’s figure disappeared from their sight, Aileen turned to Silas.

Grinning, she asked, "Hey, Silas, do you like my mommy?"

"Yes, I do."

Silas’s answer was straightforward, accompanied with a sincere smile.

Adrian watched the two with a blank face.He closed his eyes, trying to suppress the bubbling jealousy in him.

"Well, I like your uncle too."

Aileen giggled and leaned on Silas’s shoulder, acting like a spoiled child.

She whispered excitedly to him, "I tell you what… If you let your uncle be my dad, then my mommy will be your aunt! We’ll be a family!"

"No way!"

Unexpectedly, Adrian and Silas shouted in unison and refused at the same time.

"What? Why not?"

Aileen blinked her round, doe-like eyes in frustration, feeling wronged.

Silas replied seriously, "My uncle’s super fierce."

Aileen cupped her cheeks, putting on a cutesy appearance.

"That doesn’t matter.My mommy’s even fiercer!"

"No way, nuh-uh.If they’re both fierce, they’ll fight whenever they get together," Adrian said, nodding to himself.

"Yeah, Adrian’s right."

"Oh, jeez! You boys are so annoying!"

Unable to convince the two boys, Aileen turned away with an irritated harrumph and ignored them completely.

Chapter 48 Get Her Back To Work

When Eliana returned home, Kimora almost drowned her with her nagging words. It took a long time to calm Kimora down, and she had to promise her that she would inform her beforehand if she was going to stay out again.

After that, Eliana ran to her room. She threw her buzzing phone on the bed.

By the time it stopped buzzing, she saw that there were nineteen missed calls.

She glanced at the screen before she began to clean the room.

‘What a b*****d that Preston is!’ She had trusted him so much, but he had casually left her to be with Maurice.

She was unwilling to talk to him anymore because of that. She reminded herself that men were all unreliable.

At the same time, in the Moran Group’s conference room, the senior executives reported their working progress, trembling with fear.

However, Maurice, who was usually cold and strict, was behaving differently.

After quickly pointing out all the problems, he ended the conference.

The conference only lasted for an hour, whereas it usually took half a day.

Everyone looked at Maurice, who left in a hurry, as they wondered what was making him so anxious all of a sudden.

After walking out of the conference room, he turned on his phone, but he did not see any replies from Eliana.

Corbin followed him to the CEO’s office.

Seeing him looking a little dejected, Corbin asked curiously, "Mr.Moran, is something wrong?"

"Why doesn’t Eliana respond to me anymore?"

Maurice couldn’t understand what happened.

They had been on good terms just last night, so why wasn’t she answering his calls now? Corbin was speechless when he heard those words. He thought that Maurice seemed to be down because of some issues with the conference.

Now, he felt like he overthought about it.

The moment he looked up again, he met Maurice’s cold gaze, so he smiled sheepishly and said, "Well… She probably still has a problem with that night when you two…"

He paused mid-sentence and put on a mischievous grin on his face.

Maurice’s expression darkened.

"I meant to say that she doesn’t respond to Preston anymore."

Corbin suddenly remembered that his boss had two identities.

It would make sense if Eliana just did not come to work in the Moran Group, but she was also not responding to Preston now.It was not surprising that Maurice was depressed.

An idea popped into Corbin’s mind and he suggested, "How about you ask Mr.Todd? I found that she was being really nice to him, so he might know something…"

"Shut up!"

Maurice’s cold voice made Corbin shiver.

"Why haven’t you found any clues about the ring?".

Corbin answered hastily, "I’ve checked everyone in the kindergarten, and I could not find anything unusual there.Mr.Gorman seldom talks to the other children, except the twins you met in the cake shop."

Thinking of the lovely twins, Maurice asked, "What’s their background?"

"According to their documents, there is no information on their mother, but their father is Jonathan Bowman, the CEO of the Universe Group. And a nanny is the one taking them to and from school every day," Corbin replied honestly.

"Is Jonathan married?"

"No."

Maurice raised his eyebrows and pondered Were the twins Jonathan’s illegitimate children, then? If that was true, then he would have to think seriously before he did anything to the twins.

When Eliana returned home, Kimora almost drowned her with her nagging words .

"No."

Maurice raised his eyebrows and pondered Were the twins Jonathan’s illegitimate children, then? If that was true, then he would have to think seriously before he did anything to the twins.

The power of the Universe Group was not to be underestimated, and he could not rashly make enemies.

Impatient, Corbin suddenly asked, "Mr.Moran, what’s our next arrangement?"

"Make a phone call."

"Do you want me to call Jonathan?"

Maurice raised his head and looked Corbin as though he was looking at a f ool.

"Call Eliana.I don‘t care what you do, but I want you make sure that she gets back t o work."

Chapter 49 You Took Advantage Of Me

Eliana was sound asleep on her bed after lunch.

All of a sudden, her phone rang, waking her up.She fumbled for the phone with her eyes closed before she lazily answered, "Hello?"

"It’s Corbin,"

Although Eliana was surprised to hear from him, she emphasized in a kind voice, "Corbin, I have resigned."

She had already left her job at the Moran Group, so was there even a need for him to call her now? Hearing her words, Corbin couldn’t help but complain in his heart, ‘What a heartless woman! It’s no wonder that she is able to conquer my cold-hearted boss!’

Thinking of that, Corbin forced himself to stay calm as he reminded her, "Of course, I remember that! But Mr.Moran has asked me to settle accounts with you."

What kind of account was he even talking about? Eliana sensed something fishy at the mention of money. She immediately jumped up from her bed.

Corbin continued, "Miss Pierce, the reward for you accompanying Mr.Moran to the dinner party was originally one million dollars, and it was later doubled to two million dollars, right?"

"Is there a problem with that?" Eliana asked in reply, frowning.

Corbin cleared his throat.

"Well, the dress you wore at the dinner party…"

Eliana’s heart rose to her throat.

Did they really find out that the dress was torn? But she tried her best to repair it to its original condition…

"Well… There is nothing wrong with the dress."

Hearing that, Eliana breathed a sigh of relief.

"But do you remember the matching brooch that Mr.Moran pinned on the dress?"

Those words made her feel like a bolt of lightning had struck her.She suddenly remembered that things had been so chaotic that night that she had completely forgotten about the brooch.

"Mr.Moran lent you the brooch, and now, it is missing. It is worth three million dollars. After your two million dollars’ reward is deducted, you are in a debt of one million dollars, Miss Pierce."

Eliana was shocked and could not help but scoff in disbelief. She couldn’t accept it at all.

Apparently, she had worked so hard for nothing.

And now Corbin was telling her that she owed Maurice money? Eliana was in a daze.

Before she could even think properly, Corbin urged, "Mr.Moran knows about your financial situation, so he has kindly provided you with two solutions. You can choose either of the two options.Your first option is to come back to the company and work with us till your debt is settled, and your second option is to face us in court. The Legal Department of the Moran Group will contact you."

Eliana was rendered speechless.

How could he say that Maurice kindly provided her with two solutions? There were two roads in front of her, and both were dead ends.

That day, she had felt that Maurice had agreed to her resignation too easily.

Now, she realized that he had only agreed to it because he already had a backup plan.

After hearing about it, she was not feeling sleepy anymore. She got out of bed and rushed to the Moran Group.

Corbin was waiting at the entrance as he greeted her warmly.

"Welcome…"

"Shut up!"

Gritting her teeth, she glared at him.

Corbin felt that she was as overbearing as Maurice.

Sulking, he shut up.He was only following Maurice’s orders, so why did people always give him the cold shoulder? Eliana stormed into the CEO’s office.

And without Corbin, the other assistants couldn’t stop her at all.

One of them just followed her into the CEO’s office.

Maurice, who was busy with work, looked up.

"I’m sorry, Mr.Moran.I was really unable to stop…" the assistant explained in fear.

"Go back to your work."

After she left, Eliana walked up to his desk with her head held high, her eyes gleaming with fire.

"Mr.Moran, I can stay in the Moran Group. But I refuse to accept any task that is not related to my job.I’m a designer, and not a logistics staff."

She was determined to not let him ask her to pick up golf b***s, clean his office, or buy someone coffee.

Strangely, her firmness fascinated him, and he could not help but sigh in his heart.

Maurice suppressed his inexplicable desire as he stood up with his hands on his desk.

Eliana took a stepped back subconsciously.

However, he didn’t walk to her at all.He pointed at the documents on the left side of the desk and said, "These are the projects that are left behind by Gabrielle.I want you to deal with them."

Hearing that, she looked at him in surprise. She found his sudden easy-going attitude to be strange.

Was he treating her differently now because they slept together once? Maurice looked at her and noticed her flushed face, What was she thinking about? He stared deep into her eyes and said in a low, seductive voice, "Eliana, you should know clearly that you owe me more than one million dollars, right?"

Eliana’s eyes were wide open in shock as she asked, "What else?"

"You were the one who was drugged that day and took advantage of me, If I wanted to settle accounts with you over that, then you will be owing me more than just a few million dollars.Could you be… Expecting to sleep with me without paying me?"

Maurice raised his eyebrows at her.

Not knowing what to say, Eliana was stunned.

‘What a narcissistic man! How could a man like him become the CEO of the Moran Group?’ It was really an eye-opener.

Taking a deep breath, she angrily picked up the documents and left without even looking at Maurice.

Chapter 50 The Ring Appeared Again

Although Eliana was furious with Maurice, she was still passionate about her career as a designer.

After taking charge of the project documents, she was so busy that she had no time to rest, but she was still happy. She felt like she could finally do her own job.

Once she was done with work, she went home and had dinner that Kimora had prepared.

Since the kids were at the summer camp, the house was strangely quiet.

Eliana felt sleepy the moment she lay on the bed.

All of a sudden, her phone rang, and it was the ringtone that she had exclusively set for her kids.

Eliana sat up abruptly and answered the video call.

"Mommy!" Aileen’s beautiful face and bright smile flashed on the screen.

"Aileen, you are blocking my view," Adrian complained sweetly.

Aileen pouted and moved aside, revealing two cute boys behind her.

One was Adrian, and the other was Silas.

They were all sitting together, crossing their legs.

Seeing that, Eliana felt a little dizzy.

At first glance, the boys looked somewhat similar.

They had round yet lifted eyes, which made them look smart.

With a hint of shyness in his voice, Silas greeted her.

"Are you sleeping in the tent tonight?"

Eliana carefully studied their surroundings to make sure that they were safe.

"Yes!"

Aileen blinked her watery eyes and smiled weirdly.

"And Silas is going to share the tent with us.I can hug them both."

"You always move around when you sleep.Let me sleep in the middle."

Adrian crossed his arms over his chest with a serious expression.

"Or none of us will get a good night’s sleep."

"Ah! Adrian!"

Aileen pounced on him, acting like a spoiled child, but he shook his head firmly.

With a smile, Eliana reminded them softly, "Well, it’s getting late. You guys should sleep."

After a while, Aileen finally managed to convince her brother to change his plan. She curled up in the sleeping bag between the boys as she looked at the camera expectantly.

"Mommy, I want to listen to a story."

Silas’s eyes lit up at once and he stared at the screen.

Eliana was half lying down on her bed.

Leaning against the head of the bed, she told them a story.

"Once there were twenty-five soldiers made of tin…"

Suddenly, she noticed a huge shadow on their tent, which scared her, "What’s wrong?"

Sensing that something was wrong, Aileen also turned back at once.

Adrian and Silas also sat up in confusion.

"Huh? What is that?"

Aileen tilted her head, crawled out of the sleeping bag, and looked out curiously.

Eliana anxiously shouted, "Aileen, don’t go! Aileen!"

But then, Aileen had already unzipped the tent.

Exclaiming, she ran back to the phone.

"Mommy, look!"

She was holding a cute puppy in her arms.

Adrian zipped the tent and said in an assuring voice, "Mommy, nothing else was outside."

However, Eliana was so scared that she could not help but blame Aileen.

"Aileen, don’t be so impulsive again. What if there was something dangerous outside?"

Aileen lowered her head with a gloomy look.

"I know.I was wrong.I won’t do it again.Mommy, please don’t be angry…"

"Miss Pierce, don’t worry. My bodyguards are around this place. There will be no danger."

Silas walked up behind Aileen and smiled at Eliana.

Eliana breathed a sigh of relief, and told Aileen about everything that she must and mustn’t do before she finally let her go.

Aileen was relieved. She let the puppy out of the tent, turned around, and blew a kiss to Eliana over the phone.

"Good night, kids."

Eliana ended the call after she saw them go to bed.

Again The puppy circled around the tent for a while before it sat down outside, wagging its tail obediently.

Seeing its shadow, Aileen pitied the puppy.

Unable to suppress the urge, she secretly crawled out of the sleeping bag and unzipped the tent again.

The puppy immediately ran over and intimately rubbed against Aileen’s hands.

Suddenly it lay on the ground, and turned over, revealing its belly.

Aileen rubbed its belly, and the puppy groaned like a spoiled child.

Its voice was soft and cute, causing Aileen to pity it more.

"Aileen? What are you doing?"

Adrian was sleepy, but when he saw his sister being so restless, he could not help sitting up in a daze.

"The puppy is hungry.I’ll get it some meat."

Saying that, Aileen began to rummage in her backpack.

There were too many things in her backpack, and she was so anxious that she picked it up and shook it, causing its contents to fall out.

A candy hit Silas right between his eyebrows.

Now, he was also awake.

Aileen stuck out her tongue and apologized, "I’m sorry, Silas."

When Silas turned around, he saw her opening a pack of sausage and feeding it to the puppy.

The tent was a mess.

Among the things scattered on the ground, something caught his eye.It was a ring.

Rubbing his eyes, he sat up in shock.

"Aileen, this ring…"

It looked exactly like the ring that Maurice was looking for.But before he could finished his word, the hungry puppy pounced on the ground, licking it with its pink tongue, and the next second, the ring was gone.
