The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 161

Authors POV…

Becca sighed as she walked outside the packhouse, taking a seat at her usual spot overseeing the night howlers pack. A sense of loneliness had washed over her since the sun went down.

She couldn’t pinpoint what was bothering her exactly. But it had so many things attached to it, one being the sight of Sonia seeming so attached to her unborn child.

Becca wished for the feeling so bad. Probably if her ex-husband hadn’t died that early they would have had a cub or two. Now it’s been a long while, and before anything else, she craves long, steamy hot s*x. The mere thought of it made her body shiver, pleasure racing down her back.

Trying all she could to not let the thoughts of that particular person cross her mind, she picked up stones, throwing them into the dark night. Hoping it would help unburden her heavy mind.

“A generous amount of millions for your thoughts? Wouldn’t want to buy them for a penny.” Carlos said behind her.

Becca looked startled as she jumped off her seat, almost falling on her face.

“Oh.” Carlos held out a hand to help. “I am really sorry. I didn’t mean to unsettle you.”

She shook her head, trying to compose herself. Becca released a shaky breath. “You almost made me jump out of my skin.” She admitted.

“So sorry.” He mumbled, looking guilty.

Maintaining her seating position, she waved him off, smiling. “Come on, you didn’t mean to. And it’s not your fault that I’m so lost in thought.”

Sitting next to her, Carlos mirrored her seating. “Would have been disappointed in myself if you fell.”

“It’s all good. Why are you here?” Becca inquired, hoping Carlos didn’t exactly trail her down to this place.

“Had too many things on my mind and decided to walk down here to ease my mind.” He responded.

Observing him for a moment, Becca smiled, “you want to share?”

Carlos exhaled, “maybe I should.”

“I’m all ears.”

“I really like Bella.”

“Bella, who?”

“Bella of the kappa clan.”

“Oh.” Becca seemed amused. “Bella? I see. Have you told her?”

“I don’t know how to approach her. We have been friends since like forever, and it irks me every time that she crushed heavily on the alpha. Now he is married, twice at that. She has decided to become rigid, not opening her heart to anyone.” Carlos sounded pissed.

“You like her that much?”

“Like is an understatement, I have loved Bella all my life.”

“Hmmm, to think I got fooled with the thought that you wanted me instead.” Becca taunted.

Carlos laughed, facepalming himself. “I’m so sorry if I acted out of place. It was just a way of making Caleb jealous. I did find you intriguing, Becca, but not the sort of feeling I have for Bella. And as for Caleb, reeling him up is almost like my pass time. Having him be our representative and a leader, I have watched him and been able to observe his wants and preferences.”

“That’s a huge one. The both of you hardly see eye to eye, yet you know so much about him.” Becca laughed.

“Yeah.” He replied sounding distant.

“Why don’t you tell her?”

“I don’t want to lose our friendship.”

Becca inhaled at that, knowing exactly what Carlos meant and what it felt like. Falling in love with someone you call a friend is the hardest sort of feeling to keep.

“I think you should let her know than for you to keep hurting yourself this way.” She advised.

“What if she rejects me?”

“Then you would know where you stand and can begin to heal from there.”

Carlos gazed at her, “you sound like you have experienced it before.”

“Yes, I have, and even though it hurts, I knew in due time I would heal.”

They both stayed quiet, staring into the dark sky tainted with numerous tiny stars.

“You know he loves you right?” Carlos blurted.

Becca stared in bewilderment, “what do you mean?”

“I am talking about beta Caleb. He loves you, his mind is at a conflicting stage at the moment but he would be back to you sooner than you expected.”

She chuckled nervously, “that’s odd of you to say, but I doubt that would be the case.”

“I have seen how he looks at you, Becca, and it’s the same look I always have when I stare at Bella. It’s hard for males to keep their feelings hidden for a long while. There is a limit to what we can keep to ourselves, including what we feel for our female counterparts. I can bet my life on it that Caleb is head over heels in love with you.”

Becca tried to keep her palpitating heart at bay. She would have never thought she would hear this sort of talk from Carlos, of all people. The both of them who are always arguing over one petty thing or the other.

“I had confessed my feelings to him, but he seems interested in someone else,” Becca explained to Carlos.

Carlos shrugged, “that is because he hasn’t defined what he feels for you yet. When he eventually does, he will definitely come running to you.”

Becca nudged him in the rib, “if you know so much about feelings, why aren’t you telling Bella how you feel?”

“Because it’s just as scary as you can sense it. But I’m certainly not confused about what I feel the way he is.” Carlos pointed out.

“You should still tell her how you feel. It’s unfair for you to keep that to yourself. She might be expecting you to express yourself to her also.”

Nodding his head, “you might be right. Maybe I should take a chance tonight.” Standing up, he dusted the butt of his trouser. “I would take my leave now. Also, remember I told you he would come running when he figures it out? He is here.”

Carlos said to her ears, patting her shoulders lightly. Becca looked confused, not understanding what he meant, until she turned around. She found Caleb standing rigidly, looking like a lost puppy under the half moonlight.

The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 162

Authors POV…

“Are you okay, Caleb?” Becca asked as she stood up, walking towards him. The moment she stepped close to him, Caleb collapsed into her, resting his head on her shoulder.

After dropping Xander off, he had taken some long moments sitting in the car, brooding over what he was meant to do. He weighed his pro and cons. Ever since Becca had confessed her feelings to him, it had been one sleepless night after another.

Asides from that, Caleb missed her presence. He missed the talks they shared and Becca feeding him at every chance she got.

Caleb had thought about the discussion between himself and Xander when he realized that Xander was right with his speculations. His head was lying on Becca’s shoulder right now, and inhaling her every scent felt like pure bliss to him.

To think he had been missing such grace because he was too blinded to see. Caleb no longer cares what Ramona thinks of him. All that matters to him now is getting on good terms with his Becca.

Becca raised him as his weight began to sway her, “what’s the matter?” She inquired, touching his face with deep affection.

“Let’s sit, please.” He requested as his legs were beginning to betray him. He had been sitting for a bit too long in the car, and his legs were cramped together.

As both of them settled on the floor, Becca glanced at him. “how did you find me?”

“When I asked about you from the packhouse, none of them could tell where you were. I decided to check your room, and you still weren’t there. That was when I thought to come to check for you here instead, knowing it’s your favourite spot to sit at.” Caleb sounded like he was about to run out of breath

“That’s nice,” Becca muttered.

“Why were you with Carlos?”

Becca rolled her eyes, almost like she had expected him to ask the question. “We only met here coincidentally.”

Caleb grumbled, “I hope he isn’t stalking you.”

“Caleb!” Becca laughed, feeling a bit free. It had been long since she laughed that way with him present. “he has no such feelings towards me. Carlos is in love with someone else. The both of us are just plain friends.”

“Oh, I see.” He muttered, placing his hands on his knees.

Looking out into the night, Caleb’s mind went into a rolling race. He was trying to figure out a proper way to start the conversation without being rude or saying the wrong things. It took him time to realize that Becca is an important part of his life that he wouldn’t want to lose for anything in the world.

Clearing his throat, “Becca,” He called out softly

Becca focused her attention, deciding not to respond wordly to avoid cutting him short.

Seeing that her full attention was on him. Caleb continued, “it had taken me a whole lot of night to eventually conclude that you are irreplaceable, Becca. I’m so sorry for how I acted when you confessed your feelings. I had acted too nonchalant to it, and now I regret every action of mine.” Taking a pause, “I haven’t figured out what it is exactly, but one thing is for sure. I don’t want to lose you, Becca. I don’t think I would ever be fine if someone else took you away from me, or if someone else became the reason why you laugh so hard. I know I sound selfish right now, but I really couldn’t care less. All I want is to be In your arms. I hope you will take me back, really don’t mind being placed on probation.”

That got Becca laughing, “you are something else, Caleb.” Taking a deep breath, “I was angry in the first place. Wondering why it turned out that way and why I couldn’t keep my thoughts to myself. I had gotten so used to your presence that it felt odd being without you. As much as my feelings are about loving you, I will take whatever you give as long as you do not disrespect me. I have missed you, Caleb, and I really want us back together.”

Caleb sniffed, placing a loose hair strand behind her ear. “I have missed you so much, too, Becca. All I want right now is to be in your arms.”

“Me too,” Becca admitted.

The both of them subconsciously leaned into each other, kissing lightly at first before increasing the pace.

Holding on to Caleb like her life depended on it. Butterflies played catch up in the pit of her belly. She couldn’t believe Carlos had been right, almost like he had seen through what was bound to happen. From the k**s they shared, she could feel all of his emotions wrapped up in the movement of his lips. She didn’t want it to end.

Placing his forehead against hers, Caleb sighed. “We would do this one step at a time, yeah?”

“Yeah.” Becca replied, “as long as you are here with me.”

Sitting close, both leaned into each other’s embrace, not bothering to say the words to each other, knowing the silence carried so much.

Caleb let out a long relieving sigh. When he was looking for Becca, he didn’t know what he had in mind to tell her. But it came as a huge surprise that he had so much to say the moment he got close to her.

Holding her tighter to himself, he had almost forgotten what it felt like to be in Becca’s warmth.

Rubbing her nose against his jaw stubble, Becca muttered softly. “Have you had dinner? If you don’t mind some snacks, we can make do with scones.”

Caleb smacked his lips, “I definitely wouldn’t miss that for anything in the world.”

“Let’s go back to the packhouse then,” Becca said, standing up.

Doing the same thing, Caleb held her hand, both of them swinging down the path like five-year-old kids. Caleb had never felt so happy; he was finally back to his solace.

The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 163

Ben’s POV…

“Edwina!” I yelled out as my cum spewed out, messing up the duvet. Throwing my head back on the pillow, I exhaled loudly.

It had been four f*****g days into the awful lockdown, and I was just about to lose the whole of my sanity.

To cap it all, my nights have been recently filled with wet dreams of me f*****g the hell out of Edwina’s p***y. I wake up to a strong hard-on, and the best I can do is jerk off while thinking of different ways I would get on with her. I will eventually capture her, and just to spite Xander, I will f**k her right in front of him.

I would show him where the true power and strength lie.

Every day I wake, strategizing on getting back everything that bastard called Xander took away from me. For now, I would try to not fade off due to this unnecessary pandemic spreading all over sizzlers’ pack.

It would have been nice if the f****d up virus wasn’t spreading its claws so fast. Malia’s absence only added to my frustration. The day she came over to the pack house, crazy Malia had volunteered to be among those who would keep track of those going against the stay-at-home rule. Rather than abide by the law herself, she had sneaked her way in, harnessing her power as part of the pack’s council to get in.

Considering that there was nothing I could do, I would have kept her under my wing till the lockdown was over and f**k her till her legs wouldn’t be able to carry her anymore. I stood up to clean up, only to look down and find myself as hard as brick.

“F**k!” There was no way I was surviving this shit alive.

Alpha bethel would have to do something about his f****d up pack or find a solution to the problem I am having at the moment. Entering the bathroom, I showered hurriedly. I was feeling too lazy to stand under the shower for too long.

Not bothering to wrap my naked self in a towel, I sat on the edge of the bed, my eyes catching a glimpse of the encrypted phone I use to communicate with my men in the night howlers pack. I picked it up from inside the open drawer I had seen it in and, with faith, redialed one of their lines.

It rang this time, but none of them picked up. I am beginning to think Xander is getting suspicious of them. Being unable to reach any of them implies something fishy is going on and might be worse than I think. I want to believe Xander isn’t so smart being surrounded by half of the army I built within night howlers right under his nose. And Xander not figuring it out till this time makes me so sure that he is dumber than he actually looks.

The thought of how trusting and foolish he is, makes me laugh every time.

For a big burly wolf like him, it’s shameful that he gets quickly caught up in a mess due to his good heart. I have never heard of an alpha who thinks twice before doing something. Xander is too considerate for an alpha. Alphas are meant to be rugged and cruel in their decision-making.

With a thought coming to mind, I needed to figure out what the hell was going on in the night howlers pack. Not knowing is driving me crazy, and most importantly, I need to know if Sonia has birthed my child.

Getting dressed in loose joggers and a white t-shirt, I ruffled my hair with my hand. Stepping out of the room, I stomped towards Bethel’s chambers with a determined mind. I need to get my answers today, even though I have no idea how I am to go about it.

I was ushered towards his room when I got to his chambers. One thing that Bethel ever did right was not restricting my presence in his space. He had given direct orders that I should always be allowed to see him whether he was busy or not.

Getting to his door, I heard some loud m***s coming from his room. That fucktard was definitely digging his d**k in someone’s throat.

One would think he would have learnt a lesson after being the reason behind the virus spreading all over the pack.

I didn’t bother to knock and barged in instead. I couldn’t help the laughter that escaped my lips when I saw Bethel slipping his d**k in and out of two different ladies. One whom I faintly recognize as the maid he was showing me a few days back.

I must admit he has really got nice taste. My d**k was beginning to react to the view in front of me, but I had to shake it off to avoid losing focus on exactly what I came to discuss.

“So sorry, alpha. Didn’t know you were busy.” I tried to keep the disgust in my tone minimal.

The idiot had the guts to grin widely at me as he had one of the ladies bent over, f*****g her from behind while the other lady massaged his hair. He definitely knows how to have a good time.

“Give me just about a minute.” He stuttered, looking like a moron as his eyes turned on in pleasure.

I had to turn away for another three minutes before the bastard had an o****m. I literally had to shut my ears tight from hearing his loud g***n.

Can he not act so archaic? It’s bad enough that I would surely bruise the hell out of my d**k from masturbation with the image of his s*x-filled moments ingrained in my head. Now, I have to deal with his awful bedroom noise.

The ladies got dressed in less than a minute and hurried out. I looked away from them and faced the one I came looking for.

Not waiting for him to settle, I unburdened my thoughts.

“I have a feeling something is wrong.”

The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 164

Ben’s POV…

Just when I thought I sounded really serious and my voice needed to be heard, mother f*****g Bethel had himself excused.

“Can you wait up in the study for me, please? I would like to freshen up. I reek of their p***y.” He spat in distaste like he wasn’t just moaning to that same p***y.

Acting like the obedient servant I wasn’t, I bowed a bit, heading out of the room. My thoughts clouded as I walked the hallway down to his study. The feeling that all wasn’t well was settling deep in the pit of my belly. There is no way my men who had stayed loyal to me even when their life was in obvious danger would lose contact and not reach out to me in the least.

Someone like Jared goes to the extent of leaving the night howlers just to come to find me and keep me updated. Maybe I was too slow in responding, but at the same time, it isn’t really my fault. The only reason I aligned with the sizzlers pack was to use their resources. But not having control over them all has been an added disadvantage.

There was no way I would let Xander catch me off guard, but I needed to know exactly what was happening. I am being kept in the dark too much.

I had almost pulled out the whole of my hair from pacing back and forth in the study room before Bethel thought it fitting to walk in. The way he moved was just too prideful. As annoying as he was, Bethel sure knew how to pull his weight around, which is one of the reasons why I had to join hands with him.

After settling in his chair, he held my gaze. “Sit your a*s down, Ben. What’s wrong?”

I sat down, trying to control my emotions and not sound helpless to him. One last thing I would ever do is let anyone have a sniff of how I am feeling.

“I can’t reach my men in the night howlers pack.” I told him, “I feel like something is wrong, and there is a need to act fast if we must get what we both want.”

The look on his face told me he wasn’t ready to hear me out. But I have no intention of backing out. Folding his hands together regally, he looked me in the eyes. “So, what are you suggesting we do?”

“Find a means to attack them when we can.” I offered. It sounded like the coolest advice I would ever give to anyone.

“Ben, since you worked side by side with an alpha for years, I want to assume you know how costly it is to run a pack saddled with the break out of a pandemic. How can you suggest we ignore the pack members’ health and lives to chase clout?” Bethel had a stern look on his face.

Almost makes me draw back, but I am not one to give up so easily. “I’m not saying that. We can find other ways without necessarily harming anyone.”

“You intend to use my warriors, and they can catch this virus if care isn’t taken, which would be a huge loss on my part.” He insisted.

I placed a hand on the table, trying hard to steady my nerves. “Don’t get me wrong, alpha. You know how beneficial attacking the night howlers pack is to both of us…..”

“Not at the expense of my pack members….” He cut in.

If this damn alpha doesn’t watch it, I would really make him headless. His insistence on making me frustrated is really getting to me for good this time.

We both stayed quiet, me gritting my teeth and thinking of so many things that I could do to him to make him feel the exact kind of horror and pain I was feeling inside.

After a while, he cleared his throat, picking up his phone. Tapping on it for a brief second, he placed the phone on speaker after dialling a number.

“How are you?” Bethel said into the receiver.

“I’m fine, thanks, alpha.” The voice on the other line which sounded feminine responded.

“I need an update on what is happening there.” He continued.

“Nothing out of the ordinary alpha. It’s just the same way it has been for a while now.” The response came.

“Are you sure?”

“Very sure.”

“Do you have an idea if any of our men has gone missing? We haven’t been able to reach them.”

There was a brief pause before the reply came. It was almost like the person had to move farther from where they were standing to avoid being heard. “After the whole ruckus at the pack’s court the other day. I think the others are keeping a low profile. Nothing has happened since then, but it’s obvious everyone is trying to be careful.”

“So, there is no actual intention of getting back at us or probably a form of preparation for war?” Bethel pressed on.

“Nothing as such.” Replied the voice.

With that, Bethel hung up, looking me squarely in the face. “you heard that, right?”

I still wasn’t convinced enough, “that still doesn’t imply that nothing is going on. We made a good deal of a threat. Are you saying they are keeping their hands folded?”

My persistence was getting to Bethel as he rubbed at his forehead. This seemed like the first time I would see him a bit disoriented.

“Alright, Ben. This is what we would do; by the end of the week, the lockdown should be easing up a bit. We would prepare our warriors and plan a brief attack on the night howlers. So, I’m making a promise that we will get all that we want in the next few days. How about that?”

For the first time since I walked into the study, I let out a long breath. It had been a long time coming, and I could finally get my revenge and all I wanted.

“That sounds perfect,” I told him.

“Will you have some whiskey then? You look like you could actually do with some.” He said jokingly. Heading towards his minibar to grab a bottle and some glasses.

I really do not mind whatever diss he throws at me from now on. As long as he would serve as a means to fulfil my dreams, I can be respectful for the time being. Just till the time I get what I want.

“Here is to victory.” Bethel raised his glass in a cheer.

Clicking our glasses together, I downed the whiskey in one go enjoying how it trailed down my throat. I really can’t wait to have Xander trampled under my foot. It would be the most pleasurable thing after s*x for me, probably might be forever on my top list.

The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 165

Alexander’s POV…

Parading the dungeon where all of Ben’s men were locked up, I shook my head at their pitiable sight. I haven’t yet decided what I intend to do with them, as it was the least on my plate to worry about.

For days, it all seemed okay, but my team and I have been working relentlessly to ensure we don’t become enslaved by those treacherous individuals. Knowing Ben well enough, he would have taken notice of his inability to reach his men. The encrypted phone, which had belonged to Jared, kept ringing nonstop. We intentionally left it on to know when Ben would give up. For days he hadn’t tried the line, which implies he had begun to suspect something.

It got me worried, and as much as I want us to get this over and done with, I can’t have my warriors exposed to the virus that had spread out in the sizzlers pack. At the same time, we need to act as fast as we can.

Our next stop was the training ground, and I must say, Caleb, Carlos, and Jason have done a great job keeping all of the ex-prisoners in check. They fight so well that one would think they were initially experts. I couldn’t have been luckier with my small, strong and reliable team.

With their help, we have been discreet with all of our plans, which is the only reason behind our success so far. To avoid relenting, I have tried to cheer them all up to get ready for what is to come.

I shifted uncomfortably in the wheelchair. My butts ached as I had been sitting in it way longer than usual.

“Thanks so much for staying dedicated to your training till this time. I assure you that you would have no regrets being of help to the protection of the night howlers. I want to inform you to prepare your mind as all your skills will be needed soon enough. It’s our place to ensure the night howlers pack is kept safe, and I do hope you feel the same way.” I said to the prisoners turned warriors.

I really need to stop referring to them as prisoners; it’s not right for me to act in such a degrading manner. They all cheered after the address, and I left the training ground along with Caleb and the rest.

We drove back to my office, and we were cautious of where we talked and what we said to avoid selling ourselves out. None of us said a word to each other until the cars dropped at the company, and we were all seated in the office.

I observed their faces. There is a different glow to each one of them. I could tell that of Caleb as he had frequently been visiting the packhouse lately now that he and Becca were beginning to get along. I would have teased the hell out of him if I wasn’t so preoccupied with fighting an impending war.

And then I noticed he and Carlos were beginning to act more civil around each other. Becca must have given both of them scones to eat at the same time. Becca’s buttery scones would make anyone’s heart melt.

Each of them settled into a seat while I wallowed in pain in the wheelchair with my butt thinning out.

“I must commend you all. Thanks so much for a job well done. You did great with the training of the ex-prisoners.” I said to them.

“Carlos and the rest of the omegas deserve all of the accolades. They poured all their minds into ensuring the positive turnout of the men.” Caleb explained.

I was taken aback. There is a need for me to actually check what the hell changed between the both of them.

Carlos chuckled, “we all deserve the commendation. Every one of us took part in ensuring a job well done.”

I cleared my throat, “as much as we have done so much before, we need to do more now. Knowing Ben well, I can assure you he would do everything in his power against all odds to ensure he brings us down. Especially since he can’t seem to reach his men.”

“But they are experiencing a pandemic.” Jason put in.

“Still won’t stop an overtly ambitious mind like Ben’s from doing anything,” Caleb added.

“What’s the plan now?” Carlos asked.

“Gather your men. I want us to use heavy fighting tools. Mostly explosives, we would fight in our wolf form, but at the same time, there is a need to subdue them. You know how large their army is.” I said.

“When do you think we should attack?” Caleb inquired

“Approximately ninety-six hours from now. Do you think you can gather all that you need by then?” I questioned them.

“Forty-eight hours is just about enough,” Carlos assured.

I sighed in relief, knowing they were all at the same table just as I was. “Then we are good to go, then?”

“Hundred,” Jason said.

“Good luck to us then,” I muttered.

“We would leave now, alpha.” Carlos and Jason announced. Taking a bow, they stepped out at the same time.

Inhaling and exhaling, it felt like there was an actual clog in my chest. Taking a long deep breath, I let it go, enabling some nice air intake.

“You know you can stretch your legs now, right? You don’t have to stick yourself in the wheelchair.” Caleb stated.

I sneered at him, doing as he said. My bones cackled as I stretched. It felt so good I almost m****d along. Stretching for long minutes, I returned to my sitting position just in case any of them returned.

Settling in the chair, I grinned widely, giving Caleb a weird look.

“Why the hell are you looking like that?” He snickered.

“You look really beautiful.” I teased.

Kissing his teeth, Caleb glared at me. “What do you want?”

“What exactly transpired between you and Carlos?” I asked, finally letting the curious part of me take charge.

Caleb shrugged, “we got along.”

“No way!” I yelled emphatically.

Looking towards the door, he glared at me. “can you not do that?”

“Do what?” I asked, acting innocent. “You mean, talk about the fact that you have been screwing not just Becca’s scones but Becca herself.”

I almost chewed my tongue out when I got a hold of myself and found Ramona holding the doorknob, her eyes throwing daggers at Caleb.
