Ch. 61..65: The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate Chapter 61-65
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 61
Author’s POV…
It has been more like what he has been going through as he assumed the position as the Beta just became amplified. How could he begin to phantom how to come up with solutions for each of the problems that had been started.
Now he was before his desk, caught up in his thoughts, trying so hard to think that the trial would be tomorrow, and there was nothing worse than being unprepared.
He glared at his screen for the umpteenth time and still hadn’t figured out what to do. Then he heard a knock on the door which made him almost kick start from his chair, and he knew whoever was at the door just saved him from being buried in his thoughts. It was crazy to be immense and locked up in a prison of your thoughts. He headed towards the door and opened it. A part of him was hoping and praying it would be Ramona. Maybe another office s*x would set his mind straight or confuse him the more.
He headed for the door, and as soon as he opened it, he sighed because it was Becca. She held a cup of coffee on a tray. How did she know this was exactly what he needed?
She always had some sort of superpower to read through his mind and innermost thoughts.
She was glaring at him, and that was when he noticed that, in the heat of his thought, he had unbuttoned his shirt and was not wearing any singlet.
“Sorry,” he apologized with a smirk.
“Show off,” she muttered as she stepped into the room and he smiled at her before buttoning up his shirt. He went back to his desk, and she walked and dropped his cup of coffee at his desk.
She sat opposite him.
“How have you been? I know it has been overwhelming for you,” she asked with a sincere look of genuine care on her face.
“I have lately been overwhelmed by despair, it’s been a lot for me and I can’t help but wonder if I am cut out for this position,” he mumbled.
“Of course you are. Don’t you ever doubt that you know?” She almost cut him mid-statement.
“I know you would always say that. You always see the best in me.”
“That’s because you are the best,” she said and almost bit her tongue as soon as the statement came out. She didn’t want to sound too clingy and overly. That was just way too much. She thought to herself. Then disguising all she had said with an uproar of awkward laughter. At first, he gazed at her and soon decided to join her in the laughter.
“So how is preparation for Luna Sonia’s case? You know you would be doing the bulk of the work tomorrow, being the Beta.”
“Yes, I know that. I am trying to comply with all the case files and do a case study. I need to be conversant with it,”
She nodded her head.
“But between you and I, do you think that Sonia deserves a second chance?” She asked him.
“Well,” he said and paused, taking a cup of the coffee she had brought for him. It tasted so sweet. She had mastered how he liked it and always made it exactly that way.
“Well,” he repeated, “everyone deserves a second chance, but I am just bothered that her being set free will do more harm than good. There will be a lot of chaos; you know she doesn’t know yet that Edwina is now the new Luna, and coupled with the fact that she is pregnant,”
“Yes, true, and I think the Alpha is happier with Edwina than he ever was with Sonia, despite the fact they have their issues,” Becca mentioned to him.
“Yet despite that, I prefer Edwina for the Alpha than Sonia,” he said sincerely, and Becca nodded in agreement. There was then an awkward silence in the room, but Caleb faced back to his laptop, crunching some of the keys.
Becca glared at him. She always did that with that a kind of intensity when she wanted to ask him something but didn’t know how to go about it.
“So what about you and Ramona?” She finally gathered all the courage to ask him and quickly blurted it out.
“Well, Ramona and I have been cool. Things have been going so smooth,”
Not the answer she was expecting, she frowned because she knew Caleb well enough to know that whenever he gave that kind of answer, it was mostly. After all, there was more, and he was trying to spare some details.
“Is that all?” She asked, knowing the very moment she asked that she was ultimately going to regret it.
“Can I trust you with something?” He asked her, and all her being wanted to say no, she knew she was going to regret saying yes, but her curious side kicked in.
“Yes, of course. What is it?” She asked.
“Ramona and I had s*x,” his last line echoed in her ears about a million times. She knew there was no way she was going to get over such painful words.
“Really?” She asked with a feigned smile on her face. She was trying so hard not to seem so angry and jealous, but it was so hard.
“What happened after that?” She asked, hoping it wouldn’t be any talk about relationship.
“I don’t know, we haven’t talked after that, but I am hoping we will soon take it to the next level. I think that we will make a perfect match.” He muttered with a smile on his face.
Becca knew she couldn’t take it anymore.
She stood up, “I think so too. I have to go, have a pile of work, just wanted to drop by,” she said, almost rushing out immediately.
“Becca,” he called out her name, and she paused at the door.
“Thank you for the coffee, you are the best,” he said and winked, trying to reference her own words. She nodded, hastily opened the door, exited, and went directly to her bed to soak its pillows with her tears.
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 62
Edwina’s POV…
I have always been the one who gets to go and visit Sonia, but today for the first time since I started the journey of trying to build my relationship with her again from scratch, she called me.
I was shocked when I heard my mobile phone ringing. People rarely called me on that line. It was only Ben and Sonia that had the number. Ben got me the phone to get in touch with me when he was out on long trips and come to think of it, it was probably him f*****g my sister and maybe calling me while she was in his arms, I don’t want to think of all these things, but anytime I do, there is this growing rage in me that wants to revenge and make them pay for all the pain I had gone through because of them, but on the other hand, I had chosen the path to forgiveness and even if it’s hard, I would have to stick by it for the long run.
And the phone rang for the second time that day. I was afraid to pick up because I had already concluded in my heart that the call was going to be coming from Ben. I didn’t know what to say to him. I couldn’t blackmail him because I had nothing for him except my beating heart that seemed to race faster than the speed of light anytime he was being mentioned around me or his name was being called.
I was in my nighties, and I slowly approached the phone back like a thief that is about to devour it.
I had thought it was the problem, but it turned out I had a long time of difficulties lined up for me.
And I sighed and breathed a sigh of relief when I saw the call wasn’t coming from Ben but from the upstate penitentiary. And that would only mean it was coming from Sonia. I wasn’t sure to me if that was good or bad news. I had been avoiding her since the date of her court date was set. I knew I wasn’t ready to confront her, but I couldn’t use it because of my greed to keep being a little bit manipulative about how different I was from her.
“Hello, Edwina,” a feminine voice came from the phone. As soon as I picked it up, I could tell the voice was happy and excited. I wasn’t.
“Hello, Sonia, I hope you are faring fine,” I replied casually, trying not to sound as if this call was not causing me a mini-stroke.
“I am glad I could get you, I need to speak to you, can you come over to the state penitentiary today?”
I sighed and knew that my day, life, and the world were just about to get so f****d up.
Now here I was sitting down before her, in the private room at the state prison, with a deep smile on her face as she came in today.
When I had hoped to rebuild the relationship with my sister, I didn’t know I would also be in the situation that I wish I had kept her at arm’s length and not granted her such access to me.
“I am so happy you are here,” she said with so much enthusiasm in her voice. I truly wish I could give back all the vibes she was giving out now, but I was far gone to be this happy.
What the f**k was I thinking when I asked Alex if Sonia’s trial could hold? I was just caught up in the moment. I saw an opportunity to help her get free because even with this uneasy heart, I never have at any point wanted to let her give birth in prison or have to choose to either raise her child in the prison or give up her child for adoption. No mother should ever be faced with such a hard decision, and she was already in her last trimester, I wasn’t sure how face-off she was, but I knew she was already gone.
“So what’s been going on, you have not come visiting for days, I was kind of missing your company, you do know you are the only one that comes to see me,” she muttered, reaching across my hand from the table and nuzzling them all together.
“I know you have been missing me, but I have been doing a lot, having to shuffle a new job and building a new life,”
So I might have told her that I got a new job and am trying to build a new life. If only she knew that this new job was her old job.
“I am sure you will navigate through it all and please don’t give up on me especially now that I need you the most,” she replied with a smile on her face.
“I won’t,” I said briefly, trying not to give out too much information than is required.
“So my trial date has been set for tomorrow, I don’t know if you are aware,” she finally arrived at the uncomfortable part of the conversation I didn’t want to get to have with her. Was I to act happy when truly I was both happy and terrified?
I was happy that she gets a shot to redeem herself and terrified of the truth that would be revealed in the process.
She was going to hate me. At this point, I was almost just getting happy having someone I could relate to, especially when that person happened to be my sister, the one I had been craving to have a relationship with.
“Wow that’s great, I didn’t know, finally,” I said, trying to fake being happy for her.
“Yes, I am so happy. I was getting worried that I would have to give up my child, and that’s something I don’t want to do,” she replied plainly, and to me, that broke me down.
“I need to ask you, something sister,”
That statement disseminated me into a thousand million pieces. Sonia gets to call me sister in a sentence I know I dreaded and would probably hate to have to answer. All my life, all I have been trying to get was a glimpse of what I am getting now, and now I have it all, but it comes at the right time.
I had always sought her validation, and now she doesn’t only give me that but also encourages me. I had always asked for her sympathy, but now I got her empathy.
“Okay, what is it?” I asked even though I know I would regret asking, but I just needed to do everything as soon as possible, so I could leave this God-forsaken hell hole. I was already becoming shaken. Maybe after all this, I will forever download myself to be claustrophobic.
“Okay, I am thinking of ways to help my case. I know I did so much irreparable harm but also, in my head, I was thinking about what would give me a better chance to win this case and make the jury know truly I have changed and deserved to be given a second chance.”
The word was already coming out of my mouth, but I didn’t want to react.
“What is it?” I asked, knowing where the conversation was already headed. I wish it wasn’t going to take that path, but in games of truth like this, it is almost inevitable.
“I know this is a lot to ask you, knowing that you are still dealing with a lot and you have your shit also to handle, and it had not been easy for you, but despite all that, you have been keeping your head down and had been so strong.”
At this point, I knew she was just trying to patronize me and sweet-talk me into doing whatever she was found to ask me. I wasn’t getting comfortable with it because a part of me knew they were not true, and it was just her and me being who we were in the past.
She said silently, ” I thought of it all, and I think it would help my case if you come out for me as a witness,”
And the frown had already appeared on my face like it was rehearsed to act that way.
“Before you say no, I know it is relatively hard for you to do such a thing, and considering you were actually the victim here and everyone played on your intelligence. But I thought about it if you, as the victim, came to testify on my behalf, in attestation to my recent conduit and how you have chosen to forgive me, I am sure it would truly help my case,” she explained, and I tried so hard to keep the frown on my face.
It was the hardest. I tried to actually keep a face that didn’t match up with how I was truly feeling.
The problem with feelings like this it was so hard to express but also hard to keep it hidden. She thinks the reason I might feel uncomfortable doing this was because I was the party involved, but my only worry was that I am now Luna, and she wasn’t aware of it. I know that anytime she gets to finds out, she will hate me for life, and whatever relationship I am building and trying to preserve with her will ultimately go down the drain, washed in a flood, never to be gotten back again. Because I know Sonia so well, it wouldn’t go down well with her.
“I can’t do that, Sonia,” I said, and all her smile disappeared, she was perplexed by my reaction, and I knew she thought this would be easy for her. If not for the complexity of the situation, this supposes to be one of the easiest yes she would have ever gotten in her life. But we were caught in this situation of truth versus lies.
“Why?” She asked, amazed by my answer.
“Like you rightfully said, I am the one in the situation, I am the victim here, and I know how I have been feeling and trying so hard to handle all this. I am not going to climb a podium and take an oath which could be translated as I have forgiven you fully, including Ben.”
Her eyes widened, and I could see disbelief in them.
“I thought you said you have forgiven me and we could move forward,” she wasn’t asking, but it sure felt like a question that required an answer.
“Well, I am not over it completely. I still get to wake up and wonder what I did to deserve such from you.” That was a lie. I had not thought about that in a long time.
“I am sorry, and you know that. Please don’t let my child pay for my sins,” she pleaded, and all of a sudden went down on her knees. This broke me differently; I knew I had to be stronger, not just for her but for myself.
“Please, Edwina,” she pleaded again. I stood up and walked towards the door, and she burst out in tears. I was breaking inside of me, but I knew I just had to do it for a few seconds.
“Please Edwina, have mercy on me,”
And I sighed, knowing this wasn’t what I wanted. I wished I had not even asked for her trial. When I wasn’t to make her an enemy again.
Maybe tomorrow I will be strong enough, but I was done with all the battles I have to fight for today.
“I wish you the best tomorrow Sonia,” I said and walked away before I broke down to pieces.
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 63
Author’s POV…
It was a day that brought this natural feeling of anxiety. One didn’t have to do much or even say much to be anxious. There was no feeling worse than the one that had to do with lies. The feeling that came with not being completely honest with the one you claim to want to make things better with.
But that was the case for Edwina right now; she was in a state of total and utmost dismay, confused to the brim of her knowledge on how to go about things and lacking the strength to do them.
There was no way a trial was to be held, and she wouldn’t be in attendance. Her being in attendance would mean that her sister would find out the reason why she had not agreed to be her witness and all the secrets and lies she had been keeping away from her. She knew this was an impossible case.
“Why can’t I just stay behind and not go?” She had asked Becca when she was still struggling with her thoughts. Becca was in the full picture of all that was going on and why Edwina didn’t want to be in attendance at the trial.
“As the Luna, any trial without you being in attendance would be made null and void,” she replied to her, ” and especially it being a trial that involves a female wolf, you have to be there, else your sister’s trial won’t hold. All the elders of the land would kick against it,”
She slapped her hands on her forehead. This would be another reason Sonia would hate her if she ever gets to find out that not only did she refuse to stand as a witness for her, but she was also the reason the trial never got to hold.
She glared at Becca with frustration written all over her face; she was confused and dismayed. She felt like her world was closing in on her, and of course, that pseudo-claustrophobic syndrome was already kicking in for her. There was no way she could get out of this, and truly, she was in no mental capacity to deal with the wrath of her sister. She had always been afraid of Sonia in a way. What she felt for her was a profound kind of fear, but recently, that fear had begun to transition to love. Now it was all fear again, fear of the unknown, fear of the unusual, and most especially fear of the known.
“What am I supposed to do?” She asked Becca, hoping she could get this solution sooner than later.
Becca scrutinized the room properly. “I have this idea,” she said, and a glimpse of hallowed hope flashed on her face. She anticipated, but Becca remained quiet for a while.
“What is It? Lay it on me,” she inquired anxiously.
“I am not sure if it would work,” Becca spoke as she was assisting Edwina in picking out some outfits, Alex had left early with Caleb to prepare for the court, and Edwina also felt like Alex was avoiding her because he came back late last night from reading when she was half asleep. She only noticed when he probably struggled to get on the bed, she wouldn’t know she was already far gone, and he left very early in the morning. He was avoiding her, she could sense it, and she could almost bet she knew the reason why. He didn’t want to have to talk about Sonia with her when she brought up the rational suggestion of having Sonia’s trial. He was not for it but accepted, so this situation must be as difficult for him as it was for her.
“I think, the only way we can pull this off is if you dress in the royal wedding way,” Becca finally suggested in a silent whisper.
“Are you for real?” She questioned her. That goes for one crazy idea, dressing in the royal wedding way would mean her covering herself head to toe. This ritual is usually carried out at weddings before the sealing of the two couples and unveiling for the bride.
“Think of it. That’s the only way. How else do you want to go unnoticed?” She asked her, and Edwina puzzled around her head, thinking of the best way forward, thinking of a way to make things work out today without her actually losing her mind.
“I don’t know Becca, at this point, I don’t know what to do, and I think Alex is avoiding me so that we don’t get to have this discussion,” Becca walked to the mirror side where Edwina sat down and glared at her. She took the comb from the wooden cupboard and began to brush her hair.
“I am sure he is still under a lot of pressure and is trying to pick his battles. You know Ben is still on the loose and that alone is a terrible struggle he has to deal with every day,” she stated.
“I know all this and trust me, I am not trying to invalidate his feelings, but we are all dealing with one thing or the other, and I think the way we can all get through this is by being there for each other,” she explained to Becca who nodded her head.
“So you think there is no other option?” She asked her again. This time she needed to be sure before making such a decision.
“Okay, I will go through all the alternative plans in the space of a few minutes in my head. They are being reviewed, and their result will be out in a few minutes,” she teased, and Edwina laughed. She needed that laughter to lessen the weight of all that was happening on her shoulder.
“So what is the result,” she played along.
“I think this is the best way to get through this day with your sanity still intact,”
“Hmmm,” she sighed, knowing somehow Becca was right, she wished it could be easier, but it wasn’t. Life has never been that easy for her from the onset, so sometimes she felt like she needed to do the extra, work the extra, laugh the extra and be extra to get noticed. Thriving so much to be the best but having never been seen or recognized as that because of one factor that was lacking. Even in school, she was a straight-A student, and she never got a B in any of her courses, but when it came to being awarded valedictorian of the year, she was denied and was told she wasn’t qualified. She cried and sobbed bitterly because she knew the only reason she wasn’t made valedictorian was that she wasn’t a wolf or, rather, because she didn’t have any wolf.
Becca helped her dress in a long purple gown and tied up a mini gale, then used a long silk veil to cover her face. With the make-up and all that, she looked extraordinarily beautiful.
“Becca, I never did ask you, how is it with you and Caleb?” She asked when they were both gazing at her in the mirror with admiration.
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 64
Author’s POV…
“Things are not really good with us,” she replied with a fake smile that could only be translated as sadness on her face. She knew that look so well.
“Really? What’s wrong? Is it still because he is in love with Ramona?” She asked, concerned. Over the month that Edwina had stayed in the pack house, a lot of the female pack members disrespected her, and she knew it. Sometimes she needed to enforce some tough punishment attached to it before something could be done. But Becca had shown her a high level of respect and sometimes even defended her. She had come to grow to love Becca not because of who she was to her but because of who she was to herself.
“He told me that he slept with her, like they just casually had s*x,”
Edwina could feel the pain in her voice. It always hurts to see the one you love or at least claim to love to cheat on you with someone else.
“That’s bad,” she consoled her.
“Not really, after all, he and I aren’t dating and there is no way he could leave a lady as young and beautiful as Ramona and go for someone as old and cranky as me,”
“No, don’t you dare say that. The fact that he doesn’t see you in that way doesn’t mean that you are old and cranky. You are not. In fact, I can almost swear you are one of the coolest people ever,” she said, and Becca laughed out heartily. She had not heard such a thing from anyone apart from her husband.
“Becca, don’t you think it would help if you finally opened up to him about your feelings,” Edwina wasn’t asking, but she required an answer from her.
“Of what use is it? I am aware that he likes someone else, and we are okay as friends, although I would want more, so why would I want to ruin all we have just to let out a feeling that won’t be acted upon?
“Hmm,”
She made a fair point, “I don’t think it is really about letting him know so that he would love you too, but also to set you free. You have been holding it in your heart for long and I am sure that’s not exactly what you want, maybe telling him will finally give you the closure to move on. It’s better than actually staying and secretly hoping that one day he will get to look at you and magically recognize that you are in love with him. Life is not a movie Becca,” she muttered to her.
“I have never thought of it in that way. I am a realist,”
“Realist indeed,” Edwina scoffed, and they both laughed.
Soon the door opened, and they both turned back. Edwina knew it was only one person that could open the door in that manner without knocking.
“Alpha Alex,” Becca greeted and bowed down slightly.
“Becca,” he replied and glared at Edwina at the other side of the room, standing with her veil and being covered up, “is she ready?” He asked, and Edwina glared at him.
“Yes she is sir,” she replied.
“Let’s go then,”
“Becca, can you excuse me and the Alpha, please,” she requested, and Becca nodded her head and left. Alpha Alex rolled his eyes; this was part of the reason he had been avoiding her all day because he didn’t want to have a conversation of that manner with her. He even wanted to neglect the fact that she was dressed that way if it would mean they did not have to talk that day.
“You have been avoiding me all day,” she finally said when Becca was gone, and it was just the two of them left in the room.
“Was I?” He asked like he was oblivious to whatever she was saying, but he knew it to be true.
“You know you are, so don’t act like whatever it is I am thinking is just in my head, because you and I know it’s not,”
He looked at the hanging wall clock and the fancy arctic hourglass that he did not know how to read but kept in his room to give it an olden day, ancient kind of feeling,
“I am ready to stay here and not move. I don’t care if we don’t go for the trial; after all, at this point, I am not sure I want to go,”
He gave her a sharp look.
“You don’t want to go, and you forced my hand into granting her a trial,” he asked, and she frowned.
“Do you think it is easy for me? I am caught between doing what’s right and what’s best,” she mumbled, and he gazed at her.
“This is why I don’t want to have this conversation with you,”
“So you have been avoiding me truly?” She asked even though she already knew the answers to her questions.
“What do you want me to say, Edwina? Nobody is invalidating all this, but I am not sure this is what we want now. We have been facing too many battles at once, and we haven’t really gotten any chance to breathe,” he said, and she scowled, but she knew he was right; they have been going through a lot.
“But she is my sister. What am I supposed to do?” She whimpered, crashing into the couch, and he knew she needed him at that moment not to be hard on her. He wheeled himself to where she sat and wrapped her into a tight hug, followed by a brief k**s.
“I know you want to be fair to her and all that, but sometimes our good intentions have bad results, and we need to learn to start living with that hard truth. Not every good thing will have a good outcome,” he spoke wisely.
“Are you some sort of monk or something,” she teased, and he burst into laughter.
“Something like that.” He replied, “well let’s just take this thing one step at a time. Let’s try and see how we can get through today and tomorrow can take care of itself.”
She nodded and smiled at him. She knew that at this point, it would have been harder getting to do this all alone and was glad that he was there to support and understand her all the way. He helped her put on her veil over her face, and then they went down and into the courtroom together.
The Alpha’s Exchanged Mate – Chapter 65
Author’s POV…
It was a day she wasn’t prepared for, but she knew she needed to brace herself up for anything that might come her way. She sat alone in the empty room, reminiscing of all the things she had done that had led her to this very day.
She used to be the one sitting on that high throne, deciding the fate of the people. That was one part of the job description of being a Luna she liked because it made her feel powerful and like the fate of others were dependent on her, and she loved how that felt.
But here she was now, waiting for her fate to be decided by the man she cheated on alongside a group of elders she might have insulted at one point in her time spent as Luna. Her life was both complicated and sorrowful at this point.
She and Ben were supposed to be facing trial together, but now she stood alone with no one to turn to. Not even her sister, who she thought she was making headway with, wanted to stand for her or by her.
“Don’t worry, baby, mama got you,” she said to herself, rubbing her stomach. Her only form of strength now was actually something she never thought she wanted. When she first got pregnant, her first thought was to get rid of the baby, but she and Ben discussed it, and he was elated. Thank God, he always wanted a wolf baby that would carry on his legacy. Ben knew he couldn’t get it from Edwina. Maybe that’s the only reason he accepted the baby.
Maybe she was all over her head thinking what she had with Ben was more than an affair, and at some point, they did love each other.
Maybe it was just l**t, she concluded within her because all the time she was in the prison cell, all she could think about was Alpha Alex, and she knew she had messed up big time and let a good one get away.
But she was ready to do anything within her power to change things. She was ready to change the way he saw her. If only she could give them the real picture of what had happened and not sound like the victim but her truth, maybe, just maybe, he would forgive her because she was sure at a point in his life he had a soft spot for her and loved her so much.
The door opened slowly, and a guard walked in.
She glared at him, scrutinizing him from head to toe and her wolf said.
“Fake,”
She and her wolf have been keeping each other company lately, and she was almost always in a form that made her access her wolf and yet not shift.
It was her own coping mechanism. The six-foot-three soldiers that had just walked in looked different, his uniform was similar to that of other Night howlers soldiers, but when you pay keen attention to details, you will notice the slight disparity in them.
“You are a sizzler soldier,” she announced, and the man paused mid-way to where she sat down.
“How did you figure out this easily? Is there something that makes it so easy to spot?” He asked with a concerned face. If she was able to easily spot him without trying, then maybe others would, and he would put himself in harm’s way, and that was something he didn’t want.
“No, not really, but I designed the first set of our soldiers’ uniforms myself, so it is so easy to spot a fake from a real one,” she replied to him, smiling.
“Okay, I was sent here by Ben in the name of Alpha Bethel,” he announced, and Sonia rolled her eyes. There were the last things she wanted, more complexity to the more complicated life.
“Truly I don’t need Ben’s help, he should leave me be,” she cried out in frustration.
“He knows that. I am just here to observe and let you know that he is watching you, and soon you will be together as planned,” he paused, “he said I should remind you of the last time you guys spent together and the promise you made to him. He said to let you know that he is still keeping his, so you should keep yours as well.”
She sighed at this point, this wasn’t what she wanted to hear, and neither was it what would bring her comfort. It was actually a greater source of disturbance for her than anything else. The real guard walked in and took her up. At this point in time, she would rather be with the devil than listen to anything that came from the mouth of Ben. And yes, she knew she had played the equal role that led her into this mess she was in, but she also blamed Ben. He had not let her in on the full picture and his motive for doing all this because there was no world where his motivation was love. Instead, it was just filled with hatred on all levels, and that was it for him.
She walked through the hallway that led to the courtroom and remembered the days of glory when she wasn’t being dragged into the courtroom but rather walked in grandly with cheers and applause from all the sides. She would wave at them like she cared, but that was all an act from her side and their side. Most of them weren’t loyal to the throne but rather to the fact that they had a strong Alpha ready to defend them and save them from all forms of harm, but now that was gone, they had all disappeared. She felt bad that she was one of those disloyal people who only stayed for benefits. The hallway was empty, and no fans were cheering or frowning at her.
As soon as they reached the door to the courtroom.
“Wait,” she said. She wasn’t sure she was ready to face anything behind that door.
She thought she was prepared, but she wasn’t, and then she inhaled and exhaled.
“Get a hold of yourself, Sonia,” she said to herself, “your baby needs you to be at your best and strongest,” she affirmed to herself, and her mind flashed back to the last time with Ben when they were planning for this very day but had planned for it together, he had not told her that she would be standing here on her own. And sending a sizzler in disguise of a fake guard that doesn’t even know how to get the exact uniform right.
***FLASHBACK***
He reached out to her, she was naked before him, and he was between her legs. He didn’t want to thrust into her first without her begging for it.
His mouth was exploring her sweet spot.
She tasted sweet, just like he expected, and while his tongue explored her mouth, he allowed his fingers to explore her body. He ran them gently over her perky nipples, flicking each nub which made her squirm before moving farther down. After running over the small expanse of her flat stomach, he grazed a finger over her p***y lips, teasing her a little.
His fingers hovered over her p***y, but he made sure to not connect it, which only made her squirm and whine. He had mastered what her body felt like and every inch in which he had run through as a map. He knew the right spot to k**s, to touch, and to suck. He knew where to tease her and what made her quiver.
He trailed his tongue down her jaw and eventually her neck. He peppered k****s all over her neck, and soon he found her sensitive spot. He teased the spot mercilessly with my tongue, and her loud m***s only served to spur him on.
He moved to her perky nipples and took one between his teeth, enjoying the way her perks hardened even more the moment his lips covered them. He suckled softly on her nipple, licking at them before leaving small bites all over her boobs. He switched to the other one and did exactly the same thing. He was going to be at it for a long time, and he was going to make her beg him before he would f**k her, but luckily for him, she had a wild elastic limit and could bear more.
Once he felt like she had had enough teasing, he finally slipped his fingers into her p***y and played messily in her p***y juice. She let out a loud m**n, and he smirked in approval.
But at this point, she couldn’t do so any more.
“F**k me, Ben,” she cried to him, and he smirked again.
He rose up to her and quickly rolled her to her stomach. She then arched her back, and with one swift movement, he thrust his hard length into her, hard, fast, and quick, and she began to cry out in pleasure.
“Harder, harder,” she screamed at him. She didn’t want him to last long. She just wanted to make him go crazy and drive her wild for the few minutes they would be f*****g, and as soon as they finished together, he rolled to the side of the bed.
“If you ever get caught alone, would you save me or save yourself?” She glared at him. What a strange question for him to ask right after s*x.
She laughed “don’t tell me this is what you have been thinking about,” she said with a smile on her face as she was amazed by his line of thoughts.
“Not really but I need to know, will you throw me under the bus, if you ever get caught alone? Because I would never,”
“We are a team. I would never do so,” Sonia replied.
***PRESENT DAY***
Now she knew it was never a plan of his to go to trial with her.
“F**k you, Ben,” she muttered underneath her breath in regret. He had always played her and had one step ahead.
“I am not only going to throw you under the bus but burn you in it,” she said in anger and nodded.
And the door to the court room opened.
