Ch. 2071..2080
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2071-Snow fell from the sky on a winter day, portraying a scene of purest sanctity and romance.
It was Christmas Eve. In the distant country of Botvia, the Hoffman couple's fairytale-like wedding arrived as scheduled.
The Salvadors and Thompsons used their private jets, and the two families landed at Botvia's airport one after another.
Ryan rented the entire historical estate, using the castle in the front to host the wedding ceremony and the one in the back to settle his family and friends. He rented the entire estate for a month.
It meant that even after the wedding, his guests could stay if they wanted to admire the beautiful scenery of Botvia more and fully explore the foreign country.
The estate was a historical site and had never been privately rented before. This was the first and probably the last time.
For this, Ryan found the estate's owner and placed himself in a humble position. At the same time, the price he offered shocked even his father-in-law, Gregory, who was born with a silver spoon.
The night before the wedding, Ryan and Gregory took a walk around the estate.
Ryan introduced the history of this building patiently and earnestly. He knew every tree and plant in the estate like the back of his hand, as if this estate were his home, and he was the noble and elegant duke.
"Ryan, how did you know so much about this place?" Gregory looked at his handsome and gentle face, his eyes filled with surprise.
"I went through so much to rent it, and it would be the last time in my life. To create beautiful memories, I made sure to understand this place thoroughly."
Ryan smiled gently and earnestly, a soft glow of happiness flashing across his eyes. "I'm thinking that when Carrie and I are old, sitting in the house and flipping through photo albums, I could tell her so many stories. Isn't that great?"
Gregory's heart ached emotionally, deeply moved. He exclaimed, "Ryan, you've put much thought into this. But I'm curious, how did you convince that old duke to rent this place to you?"
Ryan slightly pursed his lips. "I told him my love story with Carrie from the beginning when we started dating. He was moved and thought of his wife, who had passed away for many years. So, he finally decided to let us have our wedding here.
"I also showed him Carrie's artwork. He loved it and immediately said he wanted to buy it, but I didn't let him spend the money. After getting Carrie's agreement, I gave him the painting for free."
Hearing this, Gregory was moved, but the emotions beneath his eyes became complicated and shady.
Once, he was just like Ryan, deeply in love and uncontrollably infatuated with Justin's mother.
If he had not misunderstood Mary; if he was not manipulated, deceived, and used by Shannon, Gregory and Mary would have been the perfect couple, a beautiful love story for the ages.
However, in the end, it was nothing but a fleeting dream. His love, his passion, his woman, all turned into ashes in the midst of blood and conspiracy…
"Dad, thank you," Ryan suddenly said.
Gregory quickly hid the sorrow in his eyes and asked, "Thank me?"
"Thank you for allowing Carrie to marry me."
Even though their wedding was tomorrow, even though they had no more obstacles anymore and everyone blessed their union, at this moment, when Ryan said this, his eyes were still red, and his voice choked up.
"When you say that, it makes me ashamed to raise my head."
Gregory smiled bitterly as he shook his head, his heart aching. "You don't need to thank me. If you must, thank Carrie's grandfather and Justin. They were the ones who always supported you, while I tried to tear you apart and even sent my daughter to that beast from the Solloway family… I'm a horrible father. From now on, treat Carrie well and take good care of her. I won't interfere in your life together. Don't worry."
"Dad, don't say that. I've never blamed you."
Ryan comforted his emotions, his voice gentle and low. "Back then, before I avenged my father and dealt with those troubles at home, I couldn't give Carrie a peaceful life. Now, everything is at the right time."
Gregory smiled self-deprecatingly and pulled out something from the inner pocket of his coat. He took Ryan's hand and put it in his palm solemnly.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2072-Ryan looked down and saw the golden pocket watch inlaid with red and blue gemstones before him, his eyes subconsciously widening. "Dad, this is…"
"This is the pocket watch that Justin's great-grandfather passed down to his grandfather, and his grandfather then passed it down to me."
It sounded like a tongue twister, but Ryan understood it.
Anyway, it was extremely valuable.
"Now, I'm giving it to you." Gregory smiled kindly. "This is an antique that could fetch a sky -high price in an auction. Don't underestimate it."
"Dad, this is too valuable. I can't take it."
Ryan was flattered and quickly refused. "This is your family heirloom. You should give it to Justin instead. How could I deserve…"
"You're not an outsider. You're my son-in-law, which makes you my son. How could you not deserve it?"
Gregory firmly grabbed his hand. "Besides, Justin has his grandfather doting on him. Hasn't the old man left him enough? I don't have many good things left, and he still wants to take from me? What a spoiled brat! Ryan, if you really see me as your father, accept this."
Ryan knew that Gregory was joking. Justin was his son and was born to the woman he loved the most. Although he did not say it, how could he not care about Justin?
"Thank you. I will cherish it for the rest of my life."
At night, sounds of laughter and joy came from the spacious living room in the castle.
The women were chatting over tea, while Bella and Roza were in the room, preparing the wedding gown Carrie would wear tomorrow for the wedding ceremony. Amelia busied around, trying on Carrie's make-up for her, and having a great time.
Since his wife was working on something, Justin could only wait patiently in their room, standing on the balcony in boredom as he admired the nighttime scenery from the estate.
Suddenly, his phone vibrated.
Justin fished out his phone and looked down at the screen, his heart tightening.
After hesitating for a few seconds, he picked up the call. "Grant."
"Justin, have you guys arrived at Botvia to attend Mr. Hoffman and Carrie's wedding?" Grant's voice was low and steady, carrying a hint of a gentle smile.
"Yes, brother. It's tomorrow."
"Great. They've finally achieved their happy ending. It's a pity I can't make it to the wedding."
"It's alright. We all understand your situation." Justin sounded calm and considerate.
"I've sent my gift to your account. It should be there soon. Please pass on this small token of mine to the newlyweds."
With a ding, the notification arrived.
Justin's fingertips swiped through the message, looking at the transfer details. That long string of auspicious numbers cast a shadow of ambiguous emotions between his brows.
To those who know, it was a wedding gift. To those who did not know, it looked like an investment.
"Ahem…" Grant coughed several times. "It must be late at Botvia. I won't disturb your rest with Ms. Bella. Goodnight."
"Grant." Justin's gaze darkened, his husky voice lingering in the night air. "Last time, I wanted to expose the drug experiment, but you stopped it. Did you really do that for the sake of the Salvador Corporation?"
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2073-It was quiet on the other end.
The cold evening breeze of a foreign land brushed past Justin's dark and brooding eyes, his heart thumping heavily in his chest.
To this day, he still bore a sliver of hope for his older brother, who had saved his life.
He witnessed the Iverson brothers turn against each other in a deadly fight for the family business and did not want the same cruel thing to happen in the Salvador family.
"Justin, although I can barely take care of myself because of my health, my heart has always been with the Salvador family. I'm always thinking about Grandpa, Dad, you, and Carrie."
Grant's tone was genuine and sincere. "Firstly, I didn't know you were the one pushing behind the scenes for that incident. I was merely thinking from the Salvador Corporation's perspective and simply wanted to protect our family's interests.
"Besides, even if I knew you were the one behind it, I probably still wouldn't change my choice because everything I did was for the Salvador Corporation. Justin, ahem... I hope you can understand me."
Upon hearing it, Justin clenched his fists tightly, his emotions a complicated mix.
After dinner, Asher, Axel, and Declan, who made time out of his busy schedule, kept Wyatt company in his room.
"Where's Drew?"
Wyatt started counting his sons as if taking attendance and did not miss the chance to tease him. "Why? He's not still holding a grudge against me on Mr. Hoffman and Ms. Carrie's wedding, is he? He's not that petty and stubborn, right?"
"Dad, Drew got here early and was helping Ryan decorate the venue." Axel rarely spoke up for his nemesis. "But he went out early today and didn't answer where he was going when I asked."
"How about Ralph? Why is he not here too?"
Wyatt frowned. "Is he scared to come because his crush is getting married? Is he that timid? That's not like my son."
"Dad, you're underestimating Ralph. He has reconciled with Ryan and got over it, already moving on."
Asher smiled faintly, "He's just swamped with work. He managed to take some time off and is already on the plane. He'll arrive tomorrow morning."
"Okay. It's good that he's moved on. There are so many good women in the world." Wyatt nodded in relief. "If my sons are having trouble finding someone, all the men in the world would be single forever."
He would not comment on other areas, but when it came to finding a girlfriend, Wyatt had absolute confidence.
After all, it came down to his good genes.
"Dad, I heard from Aunt Mila that even Camilla was summoned by Bella from Sentania. She's already on the way."
Declan poured a cup of tea, which was a local specialty, and handed it to Wyatt with a bright smile. "In fact, besides the wedding, Camilla's main purpose of coming was to see you and Aunt Mila."
"Sigh... That child is thoughtful."
Wyatt's heart warmed up, but he could not help worrying, "But the recent news states that the political situation in Sentania is very unstable. Edward has encountered many troubles since he took office, and he even had a car accident while on a foreign visit. Luckily, he's fine. Sigh, I was foolish back then to let Camilla marry so far away. I really regret it."
"Dad, why did you regret it? Your daughter is the First Lady, and your son-in-law is Sentania's President. If it were me, I'd be smiling in my dreams!" Axel could not help but chime in.
"That's because you've never been a father. You don't know what it feels like to worry about your daughter."
Wyatt glanced disdainfully at Axel, "Besides, what else do you know apart from eating? Your heart is made up of food!"
Axel was speechless.
The men of the Thompson family rarely had a warm family reunion, so Arnold wisely chose not to intrude.
Although he had gotten approval from all of the family members, he still felt like an outsider during moments like this. He was sensible and self-aware.
Arnold changed his clothes in his room, put on the brown wool coat given to him by Asher, and walked down the stairs with light steps, hands in his pockets.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2074-"Aunt Mila, Madam Celeste, Madam Sasha, Amelia." Arnold greeted them with a warm smile.
"Arnold, where are you going?" Amelia asked curiously.
"Botvia has a famous pastry store. I thought I'd buy some and let everyone have a taste."
"Great! We'll get to have pastries, all thanks to Asher!" Amelia clapped her hands in delight. She did not consider Arnold an outsider, speaking without any filter.
A slightly awkward smile appeared on Arnold's face. He waved his hand and left while humming a tune.
When he passed by Mila, she sensitively noticed a certain mark on her nephew. Her gaze briefly swept through his chest. Peeking out of his V-neck shirt were some faint red marks that made her cheeks flush.
"Sigh… They're indeed youngsters, so full of energy." Mila picked up a teacup, smiling ambiguously.
"Mila, what did you say?" Celeste did not catch it and looked at her in confusion.
Mila waved her hand awkwardly. "Oh… Haha, it's nothing. Come, let's drink!"
Before coming to Botvia, Asher once casually mentioned a famous local Michelin-star pastry shop that sold delicious treats. Arnold secretly noted it down and wanted to buy some tonight, keep it hidden, and give his man a surprise the next morning.
Arnold braced the biting cold for quite a while before finding the shop. His ears were red from the cold when he entered the door, and he could not even bend his fingers.
After making a satisfying purchase, he paid and held two big bags of pastries as he walked out the door happily.
"Ah!"
Unexpectedly, he walked into a man who had just entered the shop, and the bag in his hands dropped to the floor, the pastries scattering all over.
"Sorry…" The man apologized while squatting down to help Arnold pick up the stuff.
They raised their heads simultaneously, and when their eyes met, the man acted as if he was struck by lightning, widening his eyes in surprise. He stared straight at Arnold's handsome and exquisite face.
Arnold did not think much of it. After all, when he was in Meridan, he was considered a top- tier catch in the gay community.
Who would not be mesmerized when they saw him? It was the same in Botvia.
So, Arnold stood up while holding the paper bags and curled his lips. "Stop staring. I have a boyfriend. Excuse me."
Just as Arnold was about to brush past him, the man suddenly grabbed his arm and said in a trembling voice, "Kairos…"
Arnold's brows furrowed. "What?"
"Kairos… You…. You're alive?!" The man was in disbelief!
Arnold was confused and yanked his sore arm out of the man's grip. "You got the wrong person."
After that, he rushed out of the door, walking quickly to his car in the cold wind.
Unexpectedly, that man stubbornly caught up to him and blocked his path.
"Hey, what are you doing? I'll call the police if you keep bothering me." Arnold's pretty eyes immediately darkened.
The man stared deeply at his face, especially the pair of naturally captivating eyes.
His shocked gaze repeatedly scanned through Arnold, and the man finally let out a helpless and bitter sigh.
"Sorry. I'm really sorry. It's just… You look too much like a friend of mine."
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2075-A spark flashed across Arnold's narrow eyes. Seeing that the man did not look like he was lying and had no intentions of disrespecting him, the wariness in his heart faded.
Being a naturally curious man, Arnold could not help asking, "Do we really look alike?" "Extremely, especially your eyes. My friend also had a pair of unforgettable fox-like eyes."
The man nodded hard, his gaze locked on Arnold as if unable to look away. "But upon further inspection, you merely look like him on the surface. Your mannerisms are totally different. Sorry… I got the wrong person. I'm so sorry."
"It's alright."
Arnold shrugged casually, "When you go back, you can tell your friend about your encounter with his doppelganger. After all, it's a magical thing to know that there's someone who looks just like him on the other side of the world."
The man shook his head bitterly. "I'd like to, but there's no chance anymore. He passed away many years ago."
Arnold was shocked. "Sorry…"
"It's alright."
Arnold was about to get into his car when the man asked again, "It's rare to meet another countryman in Botvia. I don't have ulterior motives. I'd just like to ask… Where are you from?"
"Hatchbay."
Arnold's sports car swiftly disappeared into the dark night.
"Hatchbay… That person was also from Hatchbay." The man recalled Arnold's beautiful, exquisite face, his gaze darkening.
On the drive back, Arnold glanced at the road covered by snow, thinking about the words of the man he had just met. Inexplicable emotions surged within his heart.
He keenly remembered the name Kairos and was curious how much he resembled this man for someone to mistake him like that.
Before the sports car even reached the estate gates, Arnold could see Asher's tall and lean figure quietly standing under the bright streetlights, wearing a matching wool coat with him. His broad shoulders were already covered with a thin layer of snow.
"Asher!"
Arnold quickly got out of the car and rushed over, throwing himself into Asher's arms gracefully like a bird returning to its forest.
Asher's long arms wrapped around his waist, pulling him into his warm embrace, and asked with a soft smile, "Where did you sneak off to play, little fox?"
"I went to buy food for you. I didn't have time to play." Arnold pouted sullenly, "I went to the famous local pastry shop, thinking to surprise you with breakfast tomorrow morning. Now the surprise is gone."
"It's my fault."
Asher's large palms rested on the back of Arnold's neck, rubbing it softly. His eyes were filled with unmistakable affection. "Every day is a surprise with you by my side. I'm already satisfied."
Arnold narrowed his eyes. "I remember you weren't so slick with your tongue in the past. Where did you learn all these?"
"When you meet your one true love, it just comes naturally." The man's dark eyes were overflowing with love.
Their warm breaths merged into one. Their matching figures stood in the snowy night, and everything was as beautiful as a dream.
The sports car drove through the estate gate steadily.
After a while, a car without headlights quietly appeared from the dark, stopping at the gate where Asher and Arnold had lingered.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2076-The man in the car glanced in the direction they left, then took out his phone and stared at the intimate photos he secretly took.
If he had not confirmed otherwise, he would even firmly believe that this was Asher and Kairos in the past. He gritted his teeth and slammed the gas pedal.
Outside the castle, Arnold wanted to tell Asher about the little incident at the pastry shop, but looking at the three unfamiliar luxury cars parked in the yard and bodyguards dressed in suits standing outside, the topic quickly changed.
"Eh? Didn't Ryan say he only invited close friends of the Thompson and Salvador families to the wedding? Is someone else coming?"
"It's Camilla, and she brought someone. To be precise, that someone had insisted on coming with her." Asher held him, his expression somewhat secretive. "They're from a significant background."
Arnold was unimpressed. "How significant could it be? Could they be more important than our First Lady?"
"She's a princess."
"So high and mighty? Back in Meridan, people also called me the Prince of Neurosurgery." Arnold raised his chin proudly.
Asher chuckled, "She's an actual princess. The only princess of Sentania's royal family."
Arnold's mouth hung open in shock.
On the other side, almost everyone had gathered in the living room, all eyes on the girl standing beside Camilla, full of shock! She wore an expensive blue silk dress with white fur draped over her shoulders, exuding nobility and elegance.
"Let me introduce everyone."
Camilla's hands were nervously clasped in front of her as she put on an awkward but polite smile. "This is the king of Sentania's only daughter, Princess Annabeth."
Everyone's eyes widened in shock, and no one spoke.
Even Bella, who had seen her fair share of the world, was so surprised that her lips slightly parted, exchanging a glance with Justin.
"Goddamn… A princess?! Royal!"
Ryan exclaimed, his eyes wide with amazement. "I've only ever seen nightclub princesses until now, never a real princess!"
After that, he turned around and wanted to leave, but Justin grabbed him. "Where are you going?"
"I'm going to call Carrie to come out and see the princess. It's too rare a sight to miss!" Ryan was curious himself and had to bring his wife along.
"You're already a chairman of a company. Why don't you show a bit more maturity?"
Justin shook his head speechlessly. "Carrie has had a tiring journey all the way from Savrow. She was already weak and struggling with jet lag. Don't disturb her and let her have a good rest."
"So, why did this princess suddenly tag along with Camilla to come here?"
Bella held Justin's arm, frowning slightly. "Apart from Camilla, nobody in the Thompson and Salvador family has any connection with her, let alone the Hoffman family. She couldn't have come all the way to attend a stranger's wedding. It's absurd."
"In the news, when a royal princess travels, it's usually a big deal with a large entourage."
Justin's warm breath brushed past her ear. "But this princess is on light travel, and even the bodyguards belong to Camilla. Isn't that a bit too casual? Does the royal family not worry about her traveling alone?"
Just as the crowd was confused, Annabeth stepped forward gracefully and bowed slightly, showing an elegant smile. "I am a friend of the First Lady. I apologize for my unexpected visit and ask for your understanding."
While she spoke, her spirited eyes shone with a hint of anticipation as her gaze swept across the crowd. Just as the atmosphere was awkward, Wyatt slowly walked out with Declan accompanying him.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2077-The father and son stood tall and handsome, their demeanor and grace in no way inferior to that of the royal family.
"Dad! Declan!" Bella immediately went over.
Wyatt curled his lips stiffly, his complicated and shady gaze landing on the travel-worn princess.
Declan stared at Annabeth's delicate face, his pupils contracting, fingers subconsciously tightening.
The moment she caught sight of the man's figure, Annabeth's eyes lit up, full of eagerness, but she could only maintain her reserved attitude due to her noble status and walk to Declan step by step.
Women understood each other the most. Bella keenly felt that the relationship between this princess and Declan was not simple.
They had a history.
"Colonel."
Annabeth raised her chin proudly, staring deeply at Declan. "Aren't you going to greet me?"
The crowd's gaze all gathered on the stunningly beautiful pair.
Declan's throat bobbed as he stepped forward. Then he slowly bent down, kneeled on one knee, and held her hand, placing a kiss on the back of her hand.
"Your Highness."
Everyone was stunned.
Sasha was the first to react. She was indignant and nudged Mila with her elbow. "A man's knees are made of gold! How could Dec kneel to a little brat? When has a man in our family been so humble?"
Mila tugged at her sleeves. "Sasha, keep your voice down. She's a princess. Declan did it out of formality…" "What formality? We're not in ancient times! So what if she's a royal princess?"
Sasha was still dissatisfied. "We're not in Sentania, and Declan is not a citizen of Sentania. Does he need to follow their silly customs?"
Mila took the opportunity to pull Camilla over, asking softly, "Camilla, how did Declan and the princess know each other?"
"There were times when Declan accompanied domestic officials on visits to Sentania, and he stayed in the royal castle for a few days."
Camilla smiled wryly. "They probably met at that time."
"So, the princess followed you to meet Declan?" Mila's eyes widened.
Camilla looked at the scene before her, which felt like a proposal, and held her forehead in desperation.
Just as Declan stood up, Annabeth suddenly leaned forward, holding his shoulders, and stood on tiptoe. Her white fur shawl dropped to the ground, but her lips landed on his lips.
Declan's heart pounded wildly, and he felt as if an electric current had spread through his body. His palms were covered in sweat.
The crowd gasped in shock.
The Thompson family members had various reactions, and Axel even grabbed Roza's hand in excitement. "Declan likes women! Great… Now I can finally rest easy!"
Roza pinched his waist, feeling extremely speechless.
Just as everyone's attention was attracted by the intimate scene playing out, Wyatt pursed his lips tightly, turned around, and left quietly.
Bella noticed it and immediately caught up to him.
"Dad, you don't look well. Do you feel uncomfortable?" She supported her father, eyes full of concern.
"I'm tired and want to rest."
Wyatt closed his weary eyes. "Bella, ask Declan to meet me in my room. I have something to say to him."
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2078-Princess Annabeth took on this exhausting, long journey and risked being punished by her noble father once she returned. Her true intentions were revealed with one kiss-she had come for Declan, just to meet him.
A royal princess escaping the palace to meet the man she fancies-what a romantic foreign love story, like a pure fairytale.
However, the Thompsons only felt pressured.
"Camilla, are you sure it's okay to take the princess like this?"
In the room, Mila held her daughter's hand and asked nervously, "Will you be targeted by the royal family when you return? They won't make things difficult for you and Edward, will they?"
"They won't, Mom. Don't worry. The royal family has a close relationship with us."
Camilla's voice was gentle as she comforted Mila softly, "Besides, am I so foolish as to kidnap a princess? Annabeth thought she escaped from the palace, but in fact, right after she boarded my private plane, I contacted the queen.
"The queen knows that the princess is with me and is assured. But she also sent the royal guards here to protect the princess secretly. They definitely won't let her run wild without a care."
"Aunt Mila, don't worry." Bella happily enjoyed the famous cakes from Sentania that Camilla brought with her, chiming in at the side, "The Sentania royal family handed over all power to the presidential office twenty years ago. Now, they don't have any real power anymore. They're just figureheads. Honestly, they are the ones who have to be careful around my brother-in-law and the parliament. How would they dare to give them a hard time?
"But in the past, the royal family of Sentania was said to be the world's scariest, treacherous, and most dangerous royal family. They had many special agents and guards working for them and had their own way of dealing with people who violated palace and country rules.
"At that time, Sentania had corrupted officials and cruel executioners. The officialdom was dark, and the palace devoured people whole. Scary!"
"That was in the past. After the hard work of a few generations, it has completely changed." Camilla smiled and poured tea for her sister, worried her throat would be dry after eating so many cakes.
Mila was surprised. "Wow, Bella, did you obtain Sentania's citizenship? How do you know so much?"
"I frequently searched for Sentania's royal family secrets online as gossip! It was much more interesting than TV dramas and movies."
Bella narrowed her eyes. "Just reading the rumors gave me chills. The real situation in the royal family back then could only be more horrifying and brutal. But Camilla, does the royal family know about Declan and that princess' relationship? She chased him to someone else's wedding. It's impossible the royal family doesn't know, right?"
At the mention of this, Camilla had a complicated gaze. "How could they not know? The queen privately talked to me a few times, asking me to play matchmaker,"
"Pfft!"
Bella spat out a mouthful of tea, and the pastries in Mila's hand dropped to the ground.
"Does… Does this mean my brother is going to become a prince consort?!"
"Declan will be a prince consort?! My God… Is our family going to become in-laws with a royal family? Doesn't that mean Wyatt would be a royal father-in-law?!"
"The queen is not a mother who spoils her child. She has her eyes on Declan's military title and his family background as the wealthiest in Hatchbay. Besides, Declan is extremely handsome, and the queen could not find any faults with his character, so… she did not stop Annabeth from getting close to him. Otherwise, Princess Annabeth would have been grounded long ago. How could she fly all the way here to see him? The royal family in Sentania is famous for being strict."
"Then what's Declan's intentions?" Mila asked with concern.
"Declan definitely has something for the princess." Bella's eyes flickered with a smart gleam. "Otherwise, how could a cold and untouchable man like him just stand there like a fool, letting a woman he doesn't like kiss him? The only possibility was that they have feelings for each other."
"Declan is free to decide who he likes." Camilla pursed her lips. "But if he really wants to have a future with the princess… He has to move to Sentania and be a live-in husband, forever staying in the palace. The princess would never marry into our family."
Bella and Mila said simultaneously. "That won't do! Being a live-in husband is out of the question!"
Camilla smiled bitterly. "Then it would be difficult. The royal family won't compromise on this."
The three women fell silent.
They felt that the road ahead of Declan and the princess would not be so smooth.
"Tonight, when Dad saw Annabeth, his expression suddenly darkened. I wonder if he doesn't like Declan being involved with a royal member." Bella was keen and especially attentive to her family.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2079-"Bella, your mother was from Sentania." Mila's eyes instantly dimmed.
"Mom…" Bella felt as if her heart was stung by a sharp pain, murmuring softly.
Mila sat beside her, opened her arms, and pulled her into a warm embrace. "Since your mother passed away, your father never went to Sentania again, and he would even change the channels when the news about Sentania came on. Seeing the people from Sentania this time probably stirred up his longing for your mother.
"Bella, go accompany him in a while. Otherwise, he might start overthinking things if he's alone and has trouble sleeping."
Bella walked toward her father's room with a tray of pastries. She bumped into Drew just as she turned around the corner, who had just returned, bringing the chilling night wind with him.
"Drew, you're back!"
"Bella." Drew's hands were in his pockets as he casually walked up.
"Where did you go? We didn't see you the entire day. Everyone was asking for you."
Drew's eyelashes fluttered in hesitation, and he pulled out an exquisite red velvet box from his pocket, handing it to Bella.
"Bella, I picked this. Do you think it's okay?"
Bella was slightly surprised and opened the box. Inside was a handcrafted sapphire necklace in the shape of a water droplet, inlaid with diamonds, shining brightly even in the dimly lit hallway.
"Drew, is this a gift for Yvonne? It's so beautiful!" Bella smiled and asked happily.
"Yes. Yvonne has a necklace, but it's old, so I want to give her a new one. I spent a long time picking this out, but I still feel it was missing something."
Drew scratched his head and sighed, comforting himself. "Forget it. My taste is what it is. I've done my best."
"The reason it's still missing something is because you didn't ask me to make one!"
Bella pouted, "Did you forget that your sister is the top-tier jewelry designer, Alexa? My designs are definitely better than this!"
"Bella… I…"
"Are you embarrassed to ask me since it's a gift for Ms. Yvonne?"
Bella placed her hands on his shoulder, squeezing his hard muscles and shaking him with a force enough to rattle his brains. "Are you treating me as an outsider or Ms. Yvonne? Since you've decided that she is the one, then she is my future sister-in-law. Let alone a necklace, I could even handle everything for her from head to toe! Why are you being bashful now?"
"Bella, I was thinking too much. It's my fault."
Drew's heart tightened, and his eyes carried a hint of bitterness. "Although I've decided on Yvonne, I'm afraid you guys might not have. I'm afraid of troubling you because of her matters, and that you'll bear a grudge even though you might not say it."
"Drew, how could I?" Bella shook her head with a gentle gaze. "No matter when and no matter what happens, always trust your family. We'll support you forever. Love who you choose, and choose who you love. Don't think about anything else."
Drew felt a surge of warmth in his heart and gave his sister a tight hug.
After Drew snatched a few pastries from her, Bella entered Wyatt's room as she pushed the door open.
There was no one in the living area or the bedroom.
But she could hear Wyatt's agitated voice through the door of the study.
"Not that girl! So what if she's the king's daughter?! My son is just as noble as she is, rich, and handsome. What's so special about that empty title of a prince consort?!"
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2080-Bella's heart skipped a beat as she activated her best skill-eavesdropping. She pressed her ear tightly on the door, and the conversation inside became clearer.
"Dad, what's up with you? You've always been urging us to find a girlfriend over the years, and now, I've fallen for Annabeth and want to try dating her. Why are you so opposed?"
Declan was the most gentle and mild-tempered among all the children of the Thompson family. Although he faced a disagreement with his father, he still patiently asked for the reason. "Camilla likes Annabeth too, and they are often in contact in Sentania, getting along well. Annabeth is the Sentania royal family's only princess. In terms of family background, she's out of my league. Why are you dissatisfied?"
"She can be a princess from any country. I don't care if she's a goddess or a stick." Wyatt took a deep breath, his eyes red, his voice trembling from the strong emotion rumbling in his chest. "But… She can't be from the Sentania royal family. I will never agree to it!"
"Dad! Why?" Declan's voice was anxious and confused.
Eavesdropping outside the door, Bella was also full of questions.
It was understandable if Wyatt was in a bad mood because Princess Annabeth was from Sentania, reminding him of her mother. But to deny Declan from dating Annabeth because of this seemed unreasonable and far-fetched.
It was as if his son wanted to marry his enemy's daughter.
That added fuel to the burning fire of Bella's intense curiosity.
"There's no reason." Wyatt trembled all over, closed his eyes, and touched his burning forehead. "The royal family of Sentania is famously corrupt, full of scandals. It's a puddle of dirty mud! I don't want my son to get involved with their mess, and I don't want you to be polluted by their vile environment! Besides, you wanted to join the military since you were a child and endured many hardships to reach where you are today. Are you going to give up on everything you have for that woman?"
Declan was a smart man. His eyes flashed. "Dad, you're not telling me the truth."
Wyatt's heart tightened, subconsciously avoiding his son's scrutinizing gaze.
"Since we were kids, you've never demanded anything from us brothers. You'd never forcefully interfere in the choices we make and the paths we take."
Declan's voice was hoarse, his anxious breathing rising and falling in his chest. "Even when Asher got together with Arnold, you were their strongest backup, giving them your full support. Why is it different for me and Annabeth? Please tell me. Do you have some sort of grudge or unresolved issue with the Sentania royal family?"
Bella pursed her lips outside the door, her hand pressing on the door was bulging with light-blue veins due to her tense nerves.
"It has nothing to do with you children. Stop asking." Wyatt waved his hand, keeping his silence.
But Declan pressed on, "Mom is Sentanian and obtained citizenship here under your help later on. Was it because Mom was related to the Sentania royal family that you're so averse and wary of them?!"
Bella's heart thumped against her chest.
She recalled that when she talked to Aunt Mila about her mother's background, Justin speculated that she came here from the direction of Sentania's sea.
Everything pointed to one possibility: her mother was connected to the Sentania royal family!
But they could easily search for all the royal family members' information online, with plenty of details. The king and queen only had a son and a daughter. Their son was weak and was often hospitalized. The king's brother had no sons, only two daughters.
The Sentania throne could only be inherited by a prince. So regardless of how weak the prince was, the future king could only be him.
The problem was, there was no place for their mother in the royal family tree.
If their mother was indeed connected to the royal family, what sort of role did she play? How did she become exiled and end up in Hatchbay?
"No, no…" Wyatt's sharp eagle-like eyes were now dull, and he suddenly felt a wave of exhaustion, slumping on the sofa, feeling utterly drained. "It has nothing to do with you, and your mother is unrelated to the royal family. Stop asking!"
Bella gritted her teeth.
His double denial was an affirmation.
Although Declan's personality was mild and gentle, he was more insistent than anyone when he was stubborn. "Dad, if that's true, then there's even less of a chance I would cut ties with Annabeth! She is a royal member and my only link to the royal family. I could only have the chance to know more about Mom by staying close to her and understanding what really happened to Mom back then!"
