Ch. 2301..2310
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2301-At this moment, a fierce inner conflict was raging in Bella's mind, with her angel and demon voices clashing.
'Bella, you've finally seen through that scoundrel, haven't you? He's just a scumbag who can't change his ways, a cheater who jumps from one woman to the next. You should give up on him already! Don't let yourself be fooled again!' 'Bella, don't give up on him! Justin only became like this because of his head injury. It's not that he doesn't want to see you. Stop overthinking!' 'Ugh! Stop making excuses for a scumbag! Even if he no longer loves Bella, he still has the memories from their time together. How could he just throw away all those unforgettable moments? Instead, he flaunts his new relationship with another woman as if none of it ever mattered!' 'What you're saying is completely unreasonable! With that logic, should people never be allowed to break up just because they once dated? Besides, what do memories even count for? Memories don't matter!' Amidst the snowfall, Bella came to an abrupt halt, standing in the biting chill that cut through her thin frame and dried her tears. All other noise in her mind faded away, leaving only that one sentence, echoing endlessly. 'Memories don't matter…' Right. To Justin, Bella was someone he buried in the past. He had moved on while she remained pitifully stuck in place, endlessly drowning in their memories.
In a daze, Bella thought she heard someone calling her name. But her mind was blank, and her body felt frozen stiff, unable to move at all.
"Bella! Watch out!" Grant's voice yanked her out of the mire of sorrow.
Bella snapped back to reality, only to see a small truck hurtling toward her, its horn blaring frantically.
The driver leaned out of the window and screamed, "The brakes aren't working! Get out of the way!"
Bella's heart raced, but it felt like her feet were weighed down. She could not move in time! At that moment, Justin rushed to the scene. Seeing Bella in danger, his heart pounded as he instinctively sprinted toward her with all his might.
However, he was too far away. Even as he rushed forward using every ounce of strength, he was still too late.
Suddenly, he saw a figure dart ahead of him, embracing the frail woman tightly.
As the truck barreled toward her, a man suddenly rushed in and shielded Bella's body with his own, and the two of them tumbled into the snow together.
The truck then crashed violently into a nearby wall, its front end crumpled and damaged. Bella trembled as she opened her eyes, catching a faint, slightly bitter scent of medicine. What she saw was Grant's concerned face, his deep, calm eyes looking down at her with care. "Ms. Thompson… Are you alright?" Grant panted, his voice low and strained.
Bella stared at him in shock, then glanced at the wheelchair lying on the ground nearby. Her heart was in turmoil.
"I'm fine." Bella winced as she tried to push herself up, but the searing pain in her injured leg left her too weak to even stand.
"I'll take you to the hospital." Grant's face turned pale. He scooped Bella up in his arms and slowly walked out, trembling step by step.
"Mr. Salvador, put me down! I can manage on my own!" Bella squirmed in his embrace, but the man held her securely, showing no intention of letting go.
"Ms. Thompson, you don't have to pretend to be strong in front of me." Grant looked down at her, his gaze deep and steady. Though each step was a struggle, he did his best to appear at ease. "Don't worry about me; I still have enough strength to carry you."
Bella narrowed her eyes upon hearing this.
At that moment, Justin watched them leave, his lips parting as if he wanted to speak, but no words came. His heart raced uncontrollably.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2302-Grant gently helped Bella into the backseat of his car just as Steven hurried over, out of breath.
"Ms. Bella! Are you okay?!"
Bella's expression was complex, but she forced a faint smile. "Don't worry, Steve. I'm fine."
"Ms. Thompson was nearly hit by a truck and fell on the same leg from her previous accident." Grant did not give her a chance to pretend to be strong and spoke frankly. "I'm worried her old injury might flare up, so I'm taking her to the hospital."
"How did this happen?" Steven's voice was heavy with guilt. "Ms. Bella, it's all my fault! I was negligent!"
"It's fine. It's an accident. It's not your fault," Bella said with a faint shake of her head, then turned to Grant. "Mr. Salvador, thank you for saving me. But my secretary can take me to the hospital. There's no need to trouble you further."
Just as Grant was about to respond, his face turned deathly pale, and his body shook violently as he clutched the car handle for support.
Bella and Steven were both shocked!
"Mr. Grant!" At that moment, Clarice hurried over and supported the unsteady Grant, swiftly placing two pills into his mouth.
As Grant swallowed them, a hint of color slowly returned to his face, but his breathing remained labored.
"Mr. Grant, you're pushing yourself too hard!" Clarice patted his trembling back, her voice trembling with urgency. "I heard that you rushed forward without hesitation to save Ms. Thompson! Your body isn't strong enough for such intense exertion. It's dangerous!"
Grant struggled to steady his breathing, glancing briefly at Bella. "It's alright… See, I'm fine now. I'll be okay with some medicine…"
Clarice's voice tightened with concern. "How can you say that? I know exactly what you've been through to get here. I've been taking care of you for so long. Do you think I don't understand your condition?"
Bella noticed his pale face and murmured, "Thank you for saving me this time, Mr. Salvador."
Grant smiled as he said, "As long as you're alright, that's what matters."
"My secretary will take me to the hospital. You should go back and get some rest," Bella insisted, still polite but firm. "But I owe you a favor now. I will repay it."
Grant's long lashes fluttered, and his deep gaze softened with a hidden tenderness. "If you wish to repay me, then allow me to visit you at the hospital."
Bella hesitated, biting her lip.
But since he had saved her life, she could not find a reason to refuse, so she agreed.
Eventually, Bella and Steven left the orphanage.
Grant sat back in his wheelchair, and Clarice pushed him back inside.
"Sir, no matter the circumstances, you shouldn't gamble with your health!" Clarice's voice was still shaky. "Your body is the foundation of everything. Without it, nothing else matters!"
Just then, Yvonne came toward them, accompanied by a group of lively children.
A spirited boy, not paying attention, accidentally collided with Grant, who was sitting in his wheelchair.
"Watch where you're going, you little rascal!" Clarice scolded as he glared angrily at the child.
The boy froze on the spot, frightened.
"I'm so sorry!" Yvonne quickly stepped forward, bowing in apology and pulling the boy behind her.
Grant rested his arms on the wheelchair's armrests, his posture graceful and composed, as he raised his gaze to look at the woman before him. "It's alright. I like lively and adorable children."
The familiar voice-clear, steady, and deep-reached Yvonne's ears.
Her pupils dilated abruptly, and her spine stiffened as if struck by lightning. Her fingers curled up unconsciously.
She thought, 'That voice sounds like the "Boss" whom Christopher regarded as his savior!'
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2303-Although Yvonne had accompanied Christopher on several trips to Meridan to visit the " Boss", she had never seen his face.
However, by chance, she had once faintly overheard his voice. It was a memorable voice- distinct and resonant. Even though it had only brushed past her ears like a feather, it had left a deep impression.
"Miss… You're gripping my hand too tight," The little boy whispered to Yvonne.
Yvonne snapped out of her thoughts and quickly led the child away from the man.
"It's this woman again," Clarice sneered with disdain. "She's always acting so strangely, like I've offended her somehow."
Grant narrowed his eyes slightly, glancing in the direction where Yvonne had disappeared." You've met her before?"
Clarice scoffed. "I saw her once when I was here with Justin. He actually talked to a random woman. That's pretty unusual for him. I wonder if taking those pills triggered his scumbag tendencies to flare up."
"Oh? What did Justin say to her?"
"He asked if they had met somewhere before."
Grant fell into a pensive silence, his gaze turning thoughtful. "Look into that woman's background."
Clarice frowned in confusion. "She's just a regular caregiver. Is that really necessary?"
"No one knows my brother better than I do," Grant replied, his voice low and firm. "There are very few women in this world who could make him take the initiative to speak."
As night fell, Justin hurriedly left the charity gala before the auction even began. His expression was gloomy as he drove aimlessly through the night.
He did not know how much time had passed before he abruptly slammed on the brakes. After a moment of hesitation, he pulled out his phone and dialed a number.
After a few rings, Steven's exasperated voice came through. "Mr. Salvador, what do you want at this hour?"
Justin's hands gripped the steering wheel, his knuckles strained from the tension bubbling up inside him. His thin lips were pressed together tightly, his throat felt dry and tight, and he struggled to speak.
Steven's patience was wearing thin. "If you don't have anything to say, I'm hanging up."
"Is Ms. Thompson at home?" Justin's voice was hoarse.
"She's at the hospital," Steven replied, his tone heavy with concern. "Ms. Bella just recovered from a car accident two days ago, and now she's injured her leg again. She might need a cast."
"Which hospital? I'd like to="
Before Justin could finish, Steven cut him off angrily. "Do you know why Ms. Bella almost got into an accident? She's always been careful and wouldn't make such a careless mistake. The reason she was distracted and unfocused was all because of you!"
Justin closed his eyes. In the dark, his handsome face seemed pale, losing its warmth.
"Even if you don't want Ms. Bella anymore, there's no need to parade your new lover around to provoke her! Are you out of your mind or just heartless? Do you not remember how she treated you or how much she loved you? Do you not have the slightest awareness of that?!"
Justin frowned deeply, his voice cold. "I don't have a new lover."
"Ha, no new lover… I'd say you're simply heartless!"
Justin's mouth felt dry as he swallowed hard.
"Ms. Bella is currently at the Thompson hospital, ward number A006." Steven snapped before ending the call.
Justin slowly blinked, repeating the room number to himself. He then floored the gas pedal, and his sports car sped off into the darkness.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2304-At the back of the orphanage, a black Maybach sat quietly at the roadside with its headlights off.
Not long after, a figure stealthily emerged from the rear door and swiftly got into the car.
"Ms. Amaryllis, I'm sorry to have kept you waiting," The woman said respectfully.
In the dim light, Clarice sat arrogantly with her legs crossed, her gaze indifferent as she handed the woman a brown envelope. "You did well this morning."
The woman accepted it, felt its thickness, and grinned widely. "Cutting a brake line was no big deal, just a small task."
Clarice did not bother to look at the lowly person, her expression cold and indifferent. "By the way, did you find the information I asked for? About all the volunteers and staff at the orphanage?"
"Yes, yes! I've been working here for over ten years. This kind of thing is easy!" The woman took out a stack of documents from her bag and handed them to Clarice with both hands.
Clarice took them and began scanning through the pages carefully.
Suddenly, her pupils contracted as she sharply pulled out one of the documents. The photo showed a beautiful woman with a striking resemblance to Bella, Christopher's former companion. It was Yvonne!
"This woman is a volunteer here?" Clarice asked suspiciously.
"Yes, Ms. Amaryllis. Ms. Smith has been volunteering at the orphanage for over two years. Not only that, but she donates to us every year. She's well-regarded around here."
Noticing Clarice's unsettled demeanor, the woman asked curiously, "Is there an issue with her?"
Clarice's voice turned cold. "Is she still volunteering here?"
"It's been a while since Ms. Smith last came by, but that's not uncommon. Volunteers can come and go as they please. They're giving their time freely anyway. She's been dedicated for over two years, which is a lot. Most people would've quit long ago because it's hard work."
Clarice frowned and said, "Today at the orphanage, there was a woman named Summer Brown. Do you know her?"
"Summer Brown? Never heard of her. It's probably her first time here."
Clarice fell into contemplation. The more she thought about it, the more she felt like something was off.
This woman called Summer had just shown up, while Yvonne, who used to visit regularly, had been missing for a while.
Moreover, Justin had even approached Summer, asking if they had met before. Although she was a stranger, there was something familiar about her that had piqued his interest.
Suddenly, a realization dawned on Clarice as her gaze turned dark.
A sports car screeched into a parking spot in the hospital's underground parking lot, drifting sharply as it pulled in.
Justin stepped out and quickly made his way to the ward number A006.
The hallway was eerily silent in the late hours, with only his steady, slightly wavering steps echoing and accentuating the weight of his pounding heart.
The image of Bella almost getting into a car accident flashed through his mind. His brother had rushed to save her and held her tightly.
His heart throbbed with indescribable pain, as if an invisible force were gripping and twisting it.
Justin was almost at the ward when the door suddenly opened. Grant, who was seated in a wheelchair, slowly emerged.
Justin's steps faltered, and his breathing became labored as he approached.
In the bright, empty hallway, the brothers faced each other in tense silence.
Justin, tall and striking like a statue, stood in contrast to Grant, who sat obscured in the darkness. His pale, sickly features were barely visible, like a ghostly figure lurking in the shadows.
After a moment, Justin found himself unable to hold back any longer. He strode toward his brother, driven by a subtle yet persistent desire to see Bella.
As he was about to enter, Grant suddenly smiled and extended his right arm, blocking his path.
"Justin, what brings you here so late?" Grant asked, his voice light.
Justin swallowed hard, his voice hoarse. "I heard Ms. Thompson was in a car accident today. Is she alright?"
"She's fine; it's just her leg injury flaring up. She needs rest," Grant replied, his tone calm.
"I want to see her."
"Bella is already asleep," Grant said, his gaze dark and unreadable.
Hearing this from someone else's mouth sent Justin's vision into a blur. His heart sank. A dull ache spread through his chest, almost welling up in his eyes.
"I just want to see her for a minute. I'll leave right after." Justin spoke firmly as he tried to move past, but Grant suddenly grabbed his arm.
"Justin," Grant said, stopping him in his tracks.
The grip tightened, and Justin could feel the increasing pressure in his brother's fingers."
What are you doing, Grant?"
"Isn't it obvious? I'm stopping you."
Justin frowned and asked, "Why?"
"Because I think you shouldn't be near Bella anymore," Grant replied with a faint smile.
Grant's expression remained gentle, but his eyes carried a chilling darkness. "When she needed someone the most-when she was in danger-I was there for her. I saved her. Where were you then? You were absent and indifferent. So, why are you here now? Is it out of regret, or are you just trying to assert your presence?"
Justin frowned as the color drained from his lips. This was the first time his brother had ever spoken to him so harshly, and it was all for Bella.
"Justin, ever since you came to the Salvador family, you've had everything handed to you the affection of our grandfather, the trust of our father, even your position as the president of Salvador Corporation. I never tried to compete with you for any of that."
Grant spoke bluntly and sharply, with a touch of sarcasm, yet his smile appeared innocent. " But when it comes to Bella, I'm dead serious. I won't let you try to take the credit for what I've done."
He paused, his gaze unwavering. "Besides, she's no longer yours. If you've chosen to let go, then let it go completely. Otherwise, for the first time, I will be mad at you."
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2305-Justin clenched his large hand at his side, trembling slightly, as his handsome face darkened in the dim light. After a moment of silence, Grant smiled faintly and brushed past Justin, ignoring his tense expression.
"Grant, I've always looked up to you since we were kids," Justin said, his voice hoarse as he spoke with his back to Grant. "There are some things I'm willing to compromise on, but others I simply cannot."
Grant glanced over his shoulder, his eyes narrowing slightly. "Like what?"
"I want to see her now," Justin said, his dark eyes gleaming with intensity as he spoke with emphasis. "Grant, your feelings for her are your own; I have no right to stop you. But you can't stop me from seeing her either."
Justin continued, "However, if both of you are officially in a relationship, you won't need to say a word. I'll stay away from Ms. Thompson and sincerely wish you both a lifetime of happiness together."
For some reason, when he said the last sentence, it felt like a dull ache in his throat, leaving a faint bitter taste. "But as long as Ms. Thompson isn't yours, you and I are on equal footing. You can see her, and so can I. If my actions bother you, all I can say is, I'm sorry."
The dark shadows hid any trace of Grant's expression. His voice was calm, giving away no emotion. "Justin, do you still have feelings for her? Haven't you moved on?"
Justin swallowed hard, his expression becoming erratic.
"Justin, although we are only half brothers, ask yourself-how have I treated you all these years?" Grant coughed a few times, his voice growing deeper.
"You've treated me well," Justin admitted, his breath catching. Memories of growing up together with his brother flashed before his eyes-harmonious moments filled with care and support.
His brother was four years older than him, but as the saying goes, an elder brother is like a father.
During those dark days when Justin first arrived at the Salvador family, facing endless cold stares, his brother was indeed the first to show him kindness and stand up for him when the servants mistreated him. Grant had given Justin warmth.
Then there was that terrifying kidnapping incident when his brother had risked everything to help him escape. Otherwise, the one sitting in a wheelchair today, unable to even walk or run like a normal person, would have been Justin.
"You can see how I am now. For the rest of my life, I will be bound to this wheelchair and rely on medication just to barely maintain this state." Grant sighed lightly, a bitter smile tugging at his lips. "I know I'm not worthy of Ms. Thompson. But she is willing to stay by my side, despite my terrible condition. Justin, I am not made of stone. I've spent so many years alone in a foreign country, often feeling lonely, desolate, and helpless. I frequently wondered if this was how I would languish for the rest of my life. I want a partner too. I want to marry, have children, and experience a simple, happy marriage."
His brother, who had always seemed detached from worldly matters, now yearned for a wife and children, and the woman he had in mind was Bella.
Justin pressed his lips together, his chest heaving. He recalled the scene at the orphanage today. Amidst the romantic snowfall, Bella and Grant's gazes met. They looked so bright and joyful.
Yet whenever she saw him, her eyes would redden with tears or reflect a sorrow that could not be put into words.
Justin was once the one she loved, but now he was merely someone who brought her pain.
"If I could have a woman like Ms. Thompson by my side in this lifetime, I would have no regrets." Grant's eyes were filled with longing, his tone sincere, even tinged with a hint of humility. "Justin, as your brother, I'm asking you to please give me and Ms. Thompson a chance to be together. Will you help me fulfill this wish?"
Justin's body stiffened, his jawline sharp and rough, radiating a controlled, razor-sharp edge. He stood there in a daze, not even realizing when Grant had left.
Not long after, the door to the ward opened.
Steven walked out carrying a thermal lunch box.
Seeing Justin standing motionless in the hallway, Steven froze for a moment before a dark look crossed his face.
"Well, you sure came quickly," Steven muttered under his breath, his long eyelashes fluttering slightly.
"Mr. Lovett, I want to see her."
"Do you think you can just waltz in like that? Our young lady isn't some animal on display," Steven scoffed, rolling his eyes as he turned and headed back into the room. "Wait here."
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2306-A minute later, Steven came out again, his expression complicated as he looked at Justin." Ms. Bella doesn't want to see you. Please leave."
Justin clenched his fingers. "Why?"
Steven smirked coldly. "Why? Perhaps she has finally come to her senses. She doesn't want to fall for the same man twice or humiliate herself by offering warmth only to be met with cold indifference."
Justin's handsome face turned pale, and he remained silent.
Thinking of the grievances that Bella had endured recently, Steven's eyes reddened as he fought back his frustration.
"Mr. Salvador, Ms. Bella is exhausted. Since she doesn't want to see you, please leave her alone and stop disturbing her."
Tideview Manor.
In the study, Clarice revealed everything she had uncovered to Grant without holding anything back.
"That's why I have reason to believe that the woman named Summer Brown is actually Yvonne Smith, the substitute for Bella that Christopher kept by his side!"
Clarice bit her lip, staring at the man behind the desk who was focused on his writing. His brow was furrowed slightly in concentration as he elegantly held his pen. She ground her teeth.
"No wonder that woman was so strange toward me today. If she's really Yvonne, then it makes sense. She was rude to me, but I don't care about that. What I'm worried about is whether she has noticed something. Don't you think she seemed a bit flustered when she ran into you today?"
"After breaking free from Christopher's control and overcoming countless obstacles to be with Drew, she has finally started a new life."
Grant finished writing the word 'Bella' on the calligraphy paper. His strokes were graceful and lively, the ink penetrating the paper. "The first thing she would naturally do is change the face that caused her so much pain. She no longer wants to be anyone's shadow."
Clarice was shocked. "Have you known this from the start?"
"I only suspected it. That's why I sent you to confirm my guess."
Clarice was filled with admiration. Her respect for Grant's wisdom knew no bounds. If he had a perfect body as well, Justin would be no match for him.
"Sir, I fear Yvonne might be suspicious of you after today's events. After all, she used to work closely with Christopher and has had some encounters with us. Even if she hasn't seen us directly, I'm afraid she might sense something. If this information reaches Ms. Thompson, it will be a huge problem."
Clarice stepped forward, her gaze cold and menacing. "Should I send someone to find an opportunity to get rid of her once and for all?"
"Clarice, you're losing your patience again."
Grant placed his pen on the rack and moved the paperweight aside. He picked up the written letters and admired them with a smile. "Perhaps she is only confused and hasn't made any firm conclusions yet. If you act now, wouldn't you be openly confirming that Christopher's backer is me?"
"So you plan to let this go?"
Clarice frowned, worried. "Yvonne is still part of Christopher's group and is involved with Drew. If we don't eliminate the problem at its root, it will only grow stronger with time."
She was blunt, ruthless, and relentless.
"Even if we are to act, we must wait." Grant's elegant smile concealed a trace of barely perceptible viciousness. "We must wait for the right moment. When we eliminate the trouble, we must also ensure our safety."
At 5:00 a.m. in the depths of winter, the city of Savrow remained shrouded in silence and darkness.
Bella tossed and turned in her hospital bed, unable to sleep for more than a few minutes at a time.
Eventually, she dragged her weary body out of bed, slipped on her slippers, and decided to take a walk.
Her legs were still weak, so she leaned against the wall and slowly made her way toward the corridor.
As she opened the door and looked up, her delicate frame in the oversized hospital gown trembled violently.
Justin was sitting before her in the cold chair, with his back straight and eyes closed, motionless.
Under the dim light, he was silent. Throughout the long night, his only companion was his elongated shadow, adding to the loneliness.
Bella's heartbeat faltered, her breathing becoming erratic.
Hearing the sound, the man slowly opened his bloodshot eyes, lifting his gaze slightly to meet hers.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2307-The moment their gazes met, Bella's heart trembled. Her thoughts were tangled like a ball of yarn toyed with by a kitten, hopelessly knotted. 'How long has Justin been here? Had he
waited all night?'
Bella stared at those beautiful, bloodshot eyes without blinking. A sourness surged up from her nose, and her heart thudded painfully. But then she remembered the scene from yesterday at the orphanage him standing beneath a tree with Clarice, protectively shielding another woman.
Her frail body trembled slightly as she shifted her gaze away from Justin, her throat tight, struggling with a lump that refused to go down.
She had endured storms of blood and violence and survived the harshest conditions when she was working with Doctors Without Borders, facing hunger and cold, even going without a proper bath for weeks. Yet none of that had ever made her feel this way.
Just as she was about to shut the door, Justin sprang up and strode forward. His strong hand grabbed the edge of the door, almost catching his fingers in the frame.
"What do you want?" Bella kept her eyes lowered, refusing to look at him, but she could still feel the intense and heavy gaze bearing down on her.
Justin bent his head, his chest rising and falling, his warm breath brushing against her reddened nose. "I've been waiting for you."
"Mr. Salvador, what could you possibly be waiting for? Besides, I already told my assistant to inform you that I won't see you." Bella turned her pale face away, her voice trembling faintly. "Just go. I'm tired. I need to go back to sleep..."
"Tired, and yet you're up this early?" Justin gazed at her delicate face, soft as jade. His voice was low and deep. "I remember you never had the habit of sleeping in. You were always full of energy, waking up early to go rowing or work out."
"I'm not always full of energy. Even I have lazy days." Bella's thin shoulders shrugged slightly. The corners of her pale lips curled into a faint, forced smile. "There was a time when I did sleep in, but it doesn't matter anymore. Who would care about something so trivial? It's all in the past now. I don't care anymore."
Justin's dark eyes narrowed sharply.
He recalled the time they had lived together. They were inseparable.
Every morning after their nights of passion, she would be like a sleepy kitten, never getting enough rest.
He had been insatiable, always craving more of her, never satisfied with just one round. Every time, he would drain himself completely, filling her with everything he had and exhausting her. It wasn't until she cried and begged for mercy, scratching his back until it
was a mess, that he would finally stop.
"Does your leg still hurt?" Justin's voice was low and hoarse, his eyes dark and unreadable. "It's none of your business. From now on, nothing about me concerns you."
Bella knew most men couldn't resist a vulnerable woman, but what she saw yesterday hurt her too deeply. Her heart was shattered, and at that moment, she had no desire to face him. So she tried to shut the door with all her strength.
"Since you already have someone new, Mr. Salvador, please don't interfere in my life anymore. Leave. I won't see you out."
However, his strength was overwhelming, and no matter how hard she tried, she could not close the door.
"If I don't have someone new, does that mean I don't have to leave?" Justin's eyes were fixed on her, his gaze straightforward and unwavering.
He had always been calm, like still water without a ripple, but now his voice carried an unexpected trace of urgency.
Bella did not believe a word he said. She only trusted her own eyes.
What happened yesterday had been the breaking point after days of accumulated pain, causing her to completely snap. She had given up and resigned herself to the idea of ending things.
Was fate really fair?
In the beginning, her relationship with Justin had been something she schemed for, using every means at her disposal. She thought that after everything they had been through, their love would be unshakable and that this man belonged to her.
But fate had taken him away anyway, separating them, no matter how much it hurt her.
As expected, what was not hers would always be lost.
"Justin... It's over between us." Bella finally looked into his starry eyes, taking a deep breath to suppress the grievances that surged in her chest, almost choking her. "You come here, ignoring my feelings, sitting outside my door all night. I told you to leave, but you won't... What do you even want? Don't you realize how much this bothers me?!"
Justin's fingers tightened around the edge of the door, ignoring her accusations. His voice remained calm and low. "I just wanted to see you."
"In what capacity?" Bella asked back.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2308-Bella's eyes stung, and her nostrils flared slightly as she held onto a sliver of hope. "Are we friends? Lovers? Exes? Or am I someone you can't let go of?"
Justin's deep, starry eyes remained unreadable. "I don't know."
Looking at the expressionless man before her, as unyielding as a wall of iron, a wave of helplessness washed over Bella, followed by an indescribable sense of disappointment.
"Well, you've seen me now. You can go."
Unexpectedly, the next moment, Justin's tall frame suddenly pushed open the door with such force that Bella became unsteady on her feet. She let out a soft cry and fell backward.
Justin quickly bent down, his firm arm wrapping around her slender waist and lifting her up, their two warm bodies pressed tightly together.
Their faces were so close that they could feel each other's breaths.
Justin could even see the fine, nearly transparent layer of fuzz on her delicate skin.
"Let go of me!" Bella's heart raced as she wriggled in his arms.
But Justin's large hand on her waist only tightened. Every move she made seemed more like a teasing, a soft plea for attention.
"I thought you were tired. It seems to me that you have plenty of energy." Justin's breathing grew heavier as he effortlessly picked up the petite woman, carrying her straight into the hospital room. "Your leg is injured. Don't move unless you want to stay here longer."
Tears silently welled up in the corners of Bella's eyes as she buried her face against his chest, unable to hold them back.
The distance to the bed was only a few steps, but she wished he would hold her like this forever, carrying her endlessly.
As he placed her gently on the bed, the sudden emptiness in his arms made the muscles in his arms tense. That subtle, sharp sensation crawled up his chest, making him uncomfortable.
Suddenly, his gaze fixed on something. Under the dim light, he clearly saw two silver strands of hair by Bella's temple.
Her hair had always been thick and jet black, as smooth as silk, making those few silver strands stand out sharply.
"Ow… That hurts!" Bella quickly covered her temple as she glared at him.
Justin swiftly plucked one out, staring at it seriously. "You have white hair."
Bella froze, and the next second, tears threatened to overflow from her eyes.
Back when they had lived together, she would often perch behind him while he worked in his study, playfully plucking out the occasional white hair she found.
--"Wow! Justin, you're done for! You're getting old! I just pulled one last week, and here's another!"
He would lift his head from his pile of paperwork and smile at her indulgently.
"I know you like messing with my hair, so I grew a few for you to pluck." "I heard that men who grow white hair are weak…." --"Oh? Is that so?" The next second, he would grab her by the waist, pulling her onto his lap, his hot hands roaming her body, each touch sending waves of desire crashing through her senses. --"You'd know best whether I'm weak or not, wouldn't you?" Bella could not hold it in any longer. Her eyes reddened as she slapped his hand away, and the silver strand floated to the ground. "Justin… I hate you… I hate you so much!" Justin frowned. "Why?" "Don't you know pulling white hairs makes them grow back even more?" Her face flushed red with anger as she balled her small fists. "I'm only 26, and I'm already stressed enough to have white hair! Isn't that miserable enough? I refuse to end up like you, aging prematurely!" Justin stared deeply into her moist almond-shaped eyes, her pouty lips, and her adorable, angry face. Suddenly, his mind went blank, and his breathing became erratic. In the next moment, he bent down, bracing his left arm beside her head, and before he could stop himself, his thin lips crashed down on hers, sealing it with a kiss.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2309-The moment their lips met, an overwhelming surge of emotion-fierce and unrestrained- rushed from Justin's chest straight to his mind, consuming him entirely.
Bella's soft body was pinned beneath him. His lips and tongue invaded clumsily yet forcefully, while her eyes glistened with unshed tears.
At first, she resisted gently, her breath unsteady. But soon, she succumbed to the kiss she had longed for, her back arching upward as her small hands clutched at the lapels of his suit, eagerly returning his kiss.
Their breaths mingled, creating a perfect harmony of desire.
Justin's deep gaze lingered on her delicate nose and her tear-filled eyes, his passion intensifying.
In the stillness of the room, their entwined bodies spoke volumes of longing without uttering a word.
Then suddenly, the shrill sound of a phone ringing shattered the moment.
Both of them jolted awake, as though pulled from a dream. At the same time, Justin felt a sharp, debilitating pain crash through his head, spreading throughout his entire body.
He abruptly broke away from her lips, stood up, and hurried out of the room without looking back.
Bella trembled, kneeling on the hospital bed, her slender hand reaching out in the direction he had disappeared, only to grasp a handful of cold, empty air.
She bit down on her lips, swollen and reddened from the kiss. She swallowed the growing ache in her heart as she picked up the still-ringing phone by the bedside.
"Yvonne, what's going on? Why are you calling so early?" Bella, trying to steady her breath, asked with concern.
Yvonne's voice came through, low and apologetic. "Bella, I'm sorry… Did I disturb you?" Bella forced a light tone, wiping away the lingering tears at the corner of her eyes. "It's fine. I was already awake. We're best friends; no need to worry about that."
"Bella… Are you getting close to Grant lately?" Yvonne's voice suddenly shifted, growing tense with worry.
Bella immediately sat up straight. "Not particularly close. It's just that he saved me the other day, so we've had more contact lately. Why?"
"I don't know how to explain it… My head is a mess right now." Yvonne took a deep breath, her voice shaking. "Yesterday, I ran into Grant when I was volunteering at the orphanage. As I passed by him, I heard him speak. His voice sounded incredibly similar to the voice of the Boss behind Christopher."
Bella's almond-shaped eyes widened in shock, the warmth of the previous moments vanishing as a cold chill crept in. "Yvonne, are you sure?!"
"I… I can't be 100% sure," Yvonne stammered, her voice trembling, "I know voices can sometimes be similar, but when I accompanied Christopher to meet that Boss in Meridan, I overheard part of their conversation. His voice was so distinct, so memorable, that I couldn't forget it."
Yvonne's anxiety was palpable. "Also, hasn't Grant also been in Meridan for treatment all this time? Could it really be a coincidence? If Grant is that Boss, then his intentions in getting close to you might be dangerous!"
Bella clutched the phone tightly, her gaze drifting toward the window and the sky just beginning to brighten.
The Boss had been in Meridan. Grant had also been in Meridan. Right after Christopher's downfall, Grant who had stayed under the radar for twenty years suddenly made his return.
Why?
Was it just because he missed home and felt that his health had recovered? No one would believe that.
Maybe it was because he finally felt strong enough, confident that the time was right to return and reclaim everything that had once been his. Or perhaps, with Christopher -his puppet-now out of the picture, Grant had no other choice but to personally take charge of the situation and restore order.
The Divorced Heiress Revenge Chapter 2310-"Thank you for telling me such an important clue, Yvonne. If Grant really is the Boss, then staying away from him isn't the solution. Instead, I need to get closer to him. Only then can I uncover his true identity and expose his schemes!"
"No! You can't!" Yvonne's voice was filled with urgency. "The Boss is an extremely dangerous figure. Even Christopher said that after following him for so many years, he only
saw a fraction of his power. There might be an even bigger force behind him who is
supporting everything!
"And besides, Justin can no longer protect you like he used to. If Grant harbors any ill intentions toward you and takes advantage of the situation, it will be even harder for you and Justin to mend things!"
Bella froze at her words, the pain in her heart swelling like waves crashing against the shore.
"Bella... I know you have a strong sense of justice. You're a hero among women, braver than most men. But you're not invincible. You can't solve everything alone. You need protection too! I'm just an ordinary person. I don't care about grand ideals... I just want the people I love, my friends, to be safe and happy. That's all, Bella... Sometimes in life, it's okay to be selfish."
"I've always protected myself in the past," Bella said, forcing out words she didn't truly believe. She tilted her head slightly to prevent the tears in her eyes from spilling over. "I've just returned to where I started, giving back to someone who never belonged to me. There's nothing to be afraid of. I'll get used to it."
She paused and continued with a slight tremor in her voice, "Besides, if Grant really is the Boss, then it's better that Justin stays away from me. I don't want him to fall into danger because of me again."
Yvonne let out a sigh of helpless sympathy.
Suddenly Bella's heart tightened as a thought struck her. "Yvonne, from now on, you should stay in Hatchbay. Don't show up in Savrow unless absolutely necessary. I'll tell Drew to make sure you are well-guarded. If Grant is indeed the Boss, he might recognize you, and he won't hesitate to harm you."
"The Boss only saw me before my surgery, and we barely met. He shouldn't know who I am," Yvonne said, trying to reassure her.
"Better safe than sorry," Bella replied firmly. "It's always better to be cautious!"
Justin quickly made his way to the parking lot. As soon as he got into his car, a wave of coldness swept over him, and a splitting headache tore through his skull.
He bent over, trembling, his forehead hitting the steering wheel repeatedly, but the pain
could not subside.
The reason he had rushed away from Bella earlier was that he had reached his limit of restraint.
He feared that if he stayed a moment longer, he would lose control in front of her— becoming a monster incapable of restraint.
Just then, his phone buzzed in his sweaty palm. Ian was calling.
Justin panted as though drowning, the world around him spinning into darkness, his vision blurring. 'Was it because of Bella? Because of that kiss?'
The overwhelming pain was close to shattering his iron will.
Unable to endure it any longer, his trembling hand reached into his jacket and pulled out a packet of blue pills.
These were the very pills Clarice had given him in his office that day. He had thrown them in the trash right in front of Ian, but he secretly kept one packet when no one was looking.
Now, crushed by relentless pain, his resolve broke. Closing his eyes tightly, he swallowed all the pills in one go.
Moments passed, and clarity returned to his mind. The headache subsided, the cold dissipated, and he felt more alert than before.
He had just sealed his first deal with the devil.
