“Cynthia, the Fields are monsters. How can you agree to it? I won’t agree to this!” Brad said in frustration.

the Fields and Sean.
“Dad, Harvey, it’s fine. As one of the descendants of the Shears, I can’t just stand by and watch as they destroy us. If sacrificing my happiness can keep you safe, it’s all worth it,” Cynthia bit down on her lip. Tears welled in her eyes, but she kept them in before her enemies.

Brad and the other Shears fell into silence gloomily as they knew that Cynthia was right. Before such absolute power, the Shears had no choice but to comply.
“Why is this happening?” Benedict muttered in devastation.
“That’s great!” Seeing how Cynthia finally agreed to marry him, Theodore burst out laughing in excitement.
“Don’t get all excited just yet, Theodore! I can agree to this, but there’s one condition!” Cynthia glared at
Theodore.
“What is it? Go on!” He stopped laughing.
“You need to promise that the Fields and the Lapwoods won’t hurt Leon!” Cynthia gritted out. She only chose to obey to protect her family, but also because she wanted to shield Leon from the Lapwoods.
“What?! No way!” Theodore was furious.
Leon destroyed his legs and Theodore was dying to get rid of Leon. On top of that, Sean only agreed to help the Fields because he wanted the Power Methods from Leon.
The Fields and the Lapwoods would never agree to let Leon live.
“If you refuse to agree to this, I will kill myself right here and now! None of us get what we want, then!” She said and gathered her true energy onto her palm, before aiming it at her head.
“Cynthia, don’t!”
“Don’t be foolish!”
The Shears gasped and shouted behind her.
“Why you! Very well!” Theodore sneered and thought to himself, ‘Leon isn’t in Springfield City now and it’s not like we can harm him anyway! If that’s the case, I might as well agree to her terms and get her to agree to the marriage first!‘
“Fine! I’ll agree to that!” Theodore nodded.
“It’s a deal, then! If you break this promise, I’ll haunt you for life!” Cynthia said, before dropping her hand.

“Benedict, now that we are on the same page, let’s have their wedding tomorrow!” Walter stood forward.
“What?! Tomorrow?! No way!” Cynthia was shocked, as she thought that she would be engaged to Theodore first, and did not expect the Fields to request that they get married right away.
“Why not? Cynthia, I’ve already agreed to spare Leon. Don’t ask for too much!” Theodore said in displeasure.
He only pretended to accept Cynthia’s terms and he had to marry her before Leon returned to Springfield. By then, he would have already made Cynthia his, and Cynthia would not be able to disobey him.
“Okay,” Cynthia agreed reluctantly.
“It’s settled, then! Let’s go!”
Sean and Walter smirked smugly, before taking the others and leaving the Shear Mansion.
“Damn it!”
The Shears watched as Sean and the others disappeared into the distance, seething with rage.
Cynthia could no longer suppress the despair that overtook her and broke down in tears.
She waited for Leon to return from Seacove City, not knowing that a disaster awaited her.
She was forced into marrying Theodore to protect her family and Leon and was devastated beyond words.
“Dad, what should we do now? Are we going to let Cynthia marry that monster?!” Brad turned to look at
Benedict in frustration.
“No. We can’t let them do as they please with Cynthia!” Benedict spat, before coming up with an idea. “Brad, gather the youngsters of our family and once night falls, you are going to take them, along with Cynthia and Harvey, and leave Springfield City!”
“What?!”
Brad and the others were all stunned but soon realized that Benedict wanted to give up on all the family accomplished in Springfield City to protect the younger generation of the Shears. Once they all left, they could start rebuilding their family once again in a different city.
“Dad, if we leave, what would happen to you and the elders?” Brad asked hastily.
“We have lived long enough! We will stay back and accept whatever awaits us!” Benedict sighed.
The Fields only gave the Shears one day and since there was not enough time, all the Shears could not leave Springfield City.
The only way was to sacrifice the older generation to keep the younger generation alive.

“No! I won’t agree to that! Grandpa, it’s too big a price to pay to sacrifice so many people and what we’ve built for the past hundreds of years! I won’t be at peace even if I manage to leave Springfield City!” Cynthia
shook her head and rejected Benedict’s idea.
“But-” Benedict wanted to try and convince Cynthia but was interrupted immediately.
“That’s enough, Grandpa! I’ve decided that I’m not leaving Springfield City, even if it means the death of me!
Cynthia said with determination.

“But you,” Benedict was rendered helpless seeing how determined she was.
Brad was at a crossroads as he would have to sacrifice his daughter or his father no matter what.
Naturally, they were not the only ones struggling; the other Shears all fell into silence in despair.
In the afternoon, the Fields began preparing for the wedding and sent out invitations to all members of the elite society in Springfield City to participate in the wedding between Theodore and Cynthia.
The Fields and the Shears were always competitors and it was common knowledge for all the other families in Springfield City, so none of them ever expected the two families to marry their direct descendants.
The news of the wedding soon spread, stirring chaos all around Springfield City.
The next morning, Cynthia sat sorrowfully before her dressing table with a blank look in her eyes as she felt her heart dying.
Just then, Harvey stepped into the room and was devastated when he saw how upset Cynthia was.
“Cynthia, this is all my fault. If I knew this would happen, I should’ve let you go to Seacove City with Leon,” Harvey said guiltily.
Cynthia was going to travel to Seacove City with Leon a few days ago but was stopped by Harvey and Benedict. If Harvey snuck Cynthia out at the time, none of these would have happened.
Cynthia’s eyes brightened up slightly at the mention of Leon’s name. She shook her head and said, “Harvey, no one expects this to happen. It’s not your fault. Don’t beat yourself up over it.”
“Cynthia, should I call Leon? He is almost in the Advanced Overlord State now and he might be able to resolve this,” Harvey said hesitantly.
Though he did not want his sister to be in a complicated love triangle with Leon and Iris, it would be much worse to marry Cynthia to a monster like Theodore.

“As expected of the second most beautiful woman in the city. It’s as if an angel fell from Heaven!”

All the young men in the audience gasped when they saw Cynthia and turned to look at Theodore enviously.
Cynthia was one of the Four Beauties and if Theodore was perfectly healthy and well, he could be considered a man worthy of Cynthia’s hand in marriage; however, with his legs destroyed, everyone simply felt sorry for Cynthia.
Just then, Benedict and the Shears stepped out of the cars at the back of the convoy and like Cynthia, there was a dark expression on every one of them.
Following the arrival of Cynthia, Theodore, and the Shears, the wedding officially began.
A man in a suit and a woman in a nightgown stepped onto the steps.
The two were famous television hosts and were hired to host the wedding. Apart from the hosts, the Fields hired several famous actors and actresses to be the groomsmen and bridesmaids. Naturally, the beautiful actresses could hardly hold a candle to Cynthia’s beauty and were all ignored by the others.
“Thank you for taking the time to be a part of this wedding. On behalf of the Fields and the groom, Mister Theodore, we thank you for your blessing,” The hosts walked to the center of the stage and greeted all the guests, which was met with a round of applause by the audience.
“Now, let’s invite our groom, Mister Theodore, and our bride, Miss Cynthia, to the stage. Please welcome them with a round of applause!”
The two hosts started clapping and the others followed.
With the help of the groomsmen, Theodore went up the stage in his wheelchair.
“Harvey, go up to the stage with Cynthia!” Brad said darkly.
Traditionally, it was supposed to be the father who accompanied the bride to the stage, before handing her over to the groom. However, Brad could not be more against the marriage and wanted no part of it, so he could only ask Harvey to stand in his place.
“Sure,” Harvey muttered gloomily. He took Cynthia’s hand and slowly walked toward the stage, while the bridesmaids helped with the skirt of the wedding dress.
“What a shame!”
“Another one of the Four Beauties claimed!”
The young men in the audience sighed gloomily.
Iris, who was the most beautiful woman, started dating Leon; on top of that, the second most beautiful
woman was going to be married soon, and all eligible bachelors in the city were overwhelmed by disappointment.
“We hereby announce that the wedding begins! First of all.”
The hosts proceeded with the wedding but were instantly interrupted.
“Hang on! I object!” A Rolls–Royce raced toward the venue and came to a sudden halt before the plaza. The
car door flew open and Leon stepped out of the vehicle with Ruth and Iris.

“Leon!”
Theodore and Cynthia were both shocked to see Leon and Cynthia could not help but rub her eyes in disbelief.
According to what she knew, Leon should be handling operational matters of his firm in Seacove City, yet he had appeared miraculously in front of her.
“Why is Leon here?”
“Look at him. He is probably here to stop the wedding!”
The audience were stunned as well as they knew Leon as the Fields‘ enemy and they were all aware of how Leon had also offended the Shears by calling off his engagement with Cynthia.
Based on Leon’s relationship with the two families, there was no legitimate reason for Leon to be at the wedding.
“I object to the marriage!” Leon ignored the others and strode up to the stage with a cold expression.
“Leon, what do you think you are doing? Shouldn’t you be in Seacove City? Why are you back?” Cynthia sobered and stopped Leon anxiously.
Had Leon returned to Springfield City the day before, she would be pleasantly surprised, but at the moment, not only was she not happy at all, she was terrified that Leon would destroy the wedding and get himself into a fight against the Fields and the Lapwoods.
Just then, Vincent’s daughter, Snow stepped out of the crowd and shouted, “Cynthia, I was the one who called him back!”
Snow was close with Leon and Cynthia and despite Leon calling off his engagement with Cynthia, Snow knew that Cynthia was still deeply in love with Leon and she had always wanted them to get back together.
When the news that Cynthia was marrying Leon’s nemesis, Theodore, came out, Snow instantly realized that there was more to the story and informed Leon about it right away. Hence, Leon rushed his way back to Springfield City.
“Have you gone mad, Cynthia? Why would you marry Theodore Fields out of the blue?” Leon questioned sharply, feeling slightly frustrated that he knew nothing about Cynthia’s wedding.
Had Snow not called him and informed him about it earlier that morning, he would still be clueless at this very moment.
“No. No reason! This is between the Shears and the Fields. It’s none of your business. Just leave!” Cynthia bit her lips as she suppressed the urge to throw herself into Leon’s arms.

“No way! I’m not leaving until you tell me what’s going on!” Leon’s expression darkened.
He conflicted feelings about Cynthia and with him dating Iris, he would send Cynthia his blessing from the bottom of his heart if she was marrying a man that she was truly in love with. However, Theodore was a known womanizer who did not deserve Cynthia.
Theodore belonged to a family that was the enemy of both Leon and the Shears, so Leon could not understand why the Shears would agree to this and refused to leave before learning the truth.
“I’m begging you, Leon! Just go! I don’t want you to get hurt, nor can I put my family at risk,” Cynthia pleaded as she tried to shove Leon off the stage.
However, Leon stood his ground and no matter how hard she tried, Leon would not budge.
He grabbed her hand and said, “Cynthia, tell me the truth. What on earth’s going on?!”
Based on Cynthia’s reaction, even a fool could tell that something was wrong and he refused to leave her behind.
“Leon, so you’ve come! We were just wondering how we can pin you down and here you are, walking right up to our doorsteps! You must have a death wish!” Theodore sneered.
“As if the Fields can hurt me at all! What a joke!” Leon scoffed and turned to glance at Theodore with
contempt.
With all the tools he gathered on top of his strength, Leon might not be able to destroy the Fields on his own, but neither would the Fields be capable of hurting him.
“Maybe the Fields aren’t capable of hurting you, but what about the Lapwoods?” Sean scoffed and stepped out of the crowd with his three guards.
“Who are you?” Leon froze at the overpowering aura from the four approaching him.
At this point, Cynthia realized that she could not hide the truth any longer and said bitterly, “I’ll tell you the truth, Leon. They are from the Lapwoods in Solum County! The one in front is Theodore’s brother–in–law, the second son of the Lapwoods, San Lapwoods. Behind him are two men in the Advanced Overlord State and one martial artist in the Peak Overlord State, whom he brought with him from his family!”
“What?! Two men in the Advanced Overlord State and one martial artist in the Peak Overlord State? How is
that even possible?!” Leon was shaken to the core by Cynthia’s words, and he was not the only one.
All the people in the audience stood as they gaped at Sean and his guards.

“Leon, now you know why we have agreed to this,” Cynthia said and tears scrolled down her cheeks.
“So they are forcing you into it!” Leon’s expression darkened.
It was strange from the very beginning for the Shears to marry Cynthia to a descendent of their enemy and Leon finally came to realize that the Fields forced the Shears to comply with the Lapwoods‘ support.
“Leon, it’s the jungle’s law and the Lapwoods are simply too powerful for us to fight back. Just leave,” Cynthia muttered sorrowfully.
“Leaving so soon? No way!” Sean sneered and waved his hand. Instantly, two of the Lapwoods guards in the Advanced Overlord State darted forward and stood in Leon’s way.
Sean risked provoking the Dragon Corps to back the Fields up mainly to rob Leon of the Power Method he owned and since Leon was right before his eyes, Sean was not about to let him go.
“Mister Lapwood, what is the meaning of this? Theodore has agreed that you won’t hurt Leon if I marry him! Are you going to go back on your words?” Cynthia’s expression darkened and opened her arms to stand
before Leon.
“Cynthia, so you agreed to marry him for my sake as well,” Leon realized that Cynthia was merely keeping the wedding a secret from him to protect him from harm. Instantly, he was overwhelmed by emotions as he wondered how he could ever repay Cynthia’s love.
“So what if we’re breaking the deal? Cynthia, I only agreed to your condition yesterday to stall! Leon is the enemy of the Fields and he destroyed my legs. I only hope to tear him into shreds and letting him go has never been an option at all!” Theodore spat viciously.
“What?! You shameless bast*rd!” Cynthia was enraged that Theodore lied to her. She tore the veil off her head and threw it onto the ground. “Theodore Fields, I’m not marrying you!”
“That’s not up to you! If you dare to run away from the wedding, Leon won’t be the only one who dies. Even the Shears will suffer! Think twice before you act!” Theodore sneered.
With Sean backing him, he was never going to let Cynthia escape no matter what.

Just then, Walter, Lilith, and the other Fields strode out from behind the audience stance.
“Theodore’s right! Cynthia, you are getting married to him today and Leon’s going to die!” Walter sneered and with his signal, the Fields surrounded the Shears within a blink of an eye.
It was an unspoken threat directed at Cynthia, telling her that the Fields would attack the Shears if Cynthia
dared to run away.
“Why you!” Cynthia’s face flushed with rage. Despite how livid she was, she had no choice but to give up to protect her family from the Lapwoods.
“Leon, just leave before they do anything to you,” She lowered her voice. Knowing what Leon was capable of, he would survive as long as he ran immediately and so long as she agreed to the marriage, the Fields would not harm her or her family.
“Run? Cynthia, I came here to stop the wedding! To hell with the Fields and the Lapwoods! Anyone who stands in my way will die!” Leon roared coldly.
The crowd stirred at Leon’s words.
“Are we hearing this right?”
“How dare he be so arrogant in front of the Lapwoods?”
“Has he gone insane?!”
The people around them gaped at Leon in disbelief.
Though Leon already reached the Intermediate Overlord State and had no rival in Springfield City, the Lapwoods had two martial artists in the Advanced Overlord State and one martial artist in the Peak Overlord State and any one of them would be able to defeat Leon with ease.
Not only did Leon not ignore Cynthia’s advice to run, but he also started provoking the Lapwoods.
“How dare you, kid?! You are just in the Intermediate Overlord State and you dare to look down at us?! You must have a death wish!” Enraged, Sean desperately wished that he could order his guards to tear Leon apart, but since he intended to obtain the Power Method Leon possessed, he suppressed his anger.
“Enough chit–chatting! Lapwood, right? They might be afraid of you, but not me! Just come at me with all you have. Let’s see what the Lapwoods are made of!” Leon sneered.
Though he was not as powerful as Sean’s guards, he had plenty of tools that could turn the table around and he had nothing to fear.
“Leon, are you mad?!” Cynthia gasped in disbelief.
Iris and Ruth were both shocked as well.
The three of them were close with Leon and knew the extent of his power better than most.
Leon’s power level was lower than the Lapwoods guards and could not possibly win against them, so they
could not understand why Leon would be foolish enough to challenge Sean.

Hearing Paige’s improvisation, Patricia had one question in her mind, and that was why Paige could play so well without any
preparation
