“The Dragon Corps are here?” Both the Fifth and Sixth Guardians were stunned to hear this. Although they were both renowned figures of the Gangster World and were not at all afraid of the Dragon Corps, these men worked for the country, and the government was not an enemy one would like to have.
No matter how ruthless they were, neither of them had the guts to commit murder right in front of the Dragon Corps – it would be equivalent to committing suicide!
At the thought of this, they pulled their energy back and retreated as fast as their legs could take them.
Seeing that the two Guardians had retreated upon hearing of the Dragon Corps‘ arrival, Leon took a step back as well. Out of fear that the Potential Energy Force would accidentally strike John by mistake, he paused in the middle of drawing out his Potential Energy Force and tried to make sense of the situation before committing to anything.
“That’s strange. Why would the Dragon Corps suddenly appear?” Rodney’s expression darkened when he caught sight of Oliver and Abraham making their way toward them.
Ever since the Black Gorilla got caught and the Dragon Corps sealed off one of the Spears‘ properties for. investigation, Rodney and his father realized that the Dragon Corps was probably keeping a close eye on
them now!
This time, the Southern Boss had specifically instructed Charlie to get rid of the Scammells‘ direct descendants instead of choosing to do so himself. This was so that he could lay low for the time being!
However, they never expected that the Dragon Corps would still show up at the worst possible moment!
Rodney was utterly stunned by this sudden twist of events. However, he was not the only one surprised by it; even Linus, Rick, and the others were just as shaken up.
Rodney was just seconds away from slaughtering Leon and the rest of the Scammells they were so close to victory they could practically taste it, so why did the Dragon Corps choose to show up at the worst time?!
Not only that, but the two men who had come to aid them were none other than Oliver and Abraham – two of the best among the Gold Dragon Guards!
This was not good news to them at all!
A bad feeling arose in their hearts.
“This is splendid! Amazing news! Perfect timing!” Patrick, Damian, and the rest, on the other hand, were absolutely overjoyed to hear that the Dragon Corps had come to their aid. They were beaming from ear to ear, and although none of them knew why the Dragon Corps had shown up all of a sudden, one thing was

This was the best news they had gotten in a long time, and one could only imagine their delight at this!

Just as they were ruminating in their own thoughts, Oliver and Abraham finally made their way to Leon.
“Abraham Scottson reporting for duty, sir,” Abraham, who had always been the impulsive one, greeted Leon
proudly and was about to give him a bow when an excruciating pain shot through his shin… Oliver had kicked him!
“Um…” Abraham suddenly realized that he was not supposed to expose Leon’s true identity, and so he quickly swallowed the rest of his words, but it was too late.
“What?!” everyone was stunned by this.
The Dragon Corps were the preservers of peace and order, and had always been a well–established and esteemed body!
However, none of them ever dreamed that after showing up out of nowhere, the two Gold Dragon Guards would turn to greet Leon first as though he was their general!
This was unbelievable!
Rodney, Linus, and the rest were rendered speechless by this, and even Patrick and Damian’s jaws dropped.
They exchanged glances of confusion. None of them were able to understand the situation at hand at all!

‘Is this guy affiliated with the Dragon Corps or something?‘ Rodney’s heart lurched in his chest as this thought crossed his mind.
Judging from how respectfully Abraham greeted him, Rodney could not help but wonder whether Leon had been a part of the Dragon Corps all along.
However, he soon dismissed this as an irrational thought!
The Spears were one of the most powerful forces in the Gangster World and had crossed paths with the Dragon Corps many times now. Therefore, he had seen Abraham and Oliver plenty of times before and thus knew that they were both only Second–level Gold Dragon Guards.
If Leon truly belonged to the Dragon Corps and was their superior, this meant that he had to at least be a Platinum Dragon Guard, which was the highest possible position among the Dragon Corps, and only Almighty Warriors were qualified to hold down such a position.
Leon was only in his mid–twenties, and Rodney did not think he was capable of attaining the Almighty State yet, so there was no way this man could possibly be a Platinum Dragon Guard!
This was impossible!
He was not the only one thinking this – even Rick, Linus, and the rest had the same thoughts, especially Patrick and Damian. They were familiar with Leon’s background and knew that he had traveled from Springfield City to settle down not too long ago. Therefore, there was no way this man could be affiliated with the Southern region division of the Dragon Corps!
Besides, there was no way the Dragon Corps would allow an outsider like Leon to hold down such a prestigious position!
“May we help you?” Rodney asked. Although he was certain that Leon was not a member of the Dragon Corps, he wanted to be on the side of caution.
“We received a tip saying that there was suspicious activity here, so we came to check!” Oliver replied coldly, trying to come up with an excuse.
The last time they met, Leon had ordered him and Abraham to keep a close eye on the Southern Boss for the time being, and when Rodney left home with the two Guardians, they quickly realized something was wrong
and tailed them.
They had just arrived not too long ago, but because they had to conceal Leon’s true identity, they could not tell this to Rodney!
“Report what? Did this twat do it?” Rodney finally understood why Oliver and Abraham had made a beeline straight to Leon on arriving. Perhaps Charlie and the Scammells had not done a clean job, so Leon alerted the Dragon Corps out of caution.
There was no other explanation for the Dragon Corps‘ sudden appearance.
“Leon, I can’t believe you not only alerted the Thompsons, but the Dragon Corps as well! You’re such a thoughtful person!” Damian and Patrick were overjoyed by this. They were thinking along the same line as Rodney that Leon was the one who reported this to the Dragon Corps just to be on the safe side.
This was why the Dragon Corps managed to arrive just in time, but unbeknownst to them, neither Roanne and John nor Abraham and Oliver, were summoned by Leon!
This was all just a coincidence!
“I guess you can say that.” Leon smiled but did not deny it.
He was a member of the Dragon Corps‘ auxiliary staff, and hence his identity was to be protected. If one day his true identity were to get exposed, he would undoubtedly become the target of assassination!
Since Rodney and the rest had mistaken him as the one who alerted the Dragon Corps, he would let them believe it!

“Rodney Spears, how dare you ignore the Dragon Corps‘ warning and continue harassing the civilians? This is outrageous! Do you honestly think the Dragon Corps will allow such behavior?” Oliver bellowed, trying to distract everybody from what had happened.

The color drained from Rodney’s face as his heart sank. He was well aware of the Dragon Corps‘ warning, but knowing that the Dragon Corps rarely stuck their noses into conflicts like this, he actually intended to take care of the Scammells‘ direct descendants first. He was certain that as long as he did not kill anyone during the process, the Dragon Corps would not be able to hold him responsible so long as they find out later than. sooner!
However, he never once dreamed that they would show up before he even got the chance to do anything and caught him red–handed!
One could only imagine his dismay at this!
On second thought… he soon realized something was amiss.
“Mister Jelphs, this is where you’re mistaken. The members of the Scammells‘ second bloodline requested my help to scare their enemies, and that’s all I did. How dare you jump to the conclusion that I’m harassing them when I didn’t even do anything wrong?” Rodney reasoned. He was telling the truth; since he had not gotten to do anything to Leon and the others yet, he was technically not in the wrong!
“You-” Oliver and Abraham were outraged by this. However, considering that Rodney was right and had not indeed done anything to inflict harm on the Scammells, there was nothing they could do about it.
“This is all just a misunderstanding, sirs. If there’s nothing else I can help you with, I’d like to excuse myself now!” Rodney added. Now that the Thompsons and the Dragon Corps had gotten involved in this, there was no way he would be able to continue teaching Leon and the Scammells a lesson!
As reluctant as he was, he knew he had to call it quits.
Besides, patience was a virtue; the Scammells were just a small family, and their influence was no match for the Spears at all! He had plenty of opportunities to snatch the Cynthion Group from them in the future!
“This is splendid! Everything has finally come to an end!” Patrick and Damian were delighted to see that their perpetrators had decided to leave.
Rick, Eugene, and Nigel, on the other hand, were dismayed by this. They were hoping that Rodney’s addition would tilt the tables in their favor. They didn’t expect the Dragon Corps to show up without warning and ruin everything!

“What are you going to do about it then?” Rodney snickered at this. If the Dragon Corps had not shown up of a sudden, Leon would have been incapacitated by the two Guardians by now!

He could not believe that after his narrow escape, Leon had the audacity to go right up in his face and refuse to let them leave!
However, before he could even respond, Patrick stepped forward and said, “Leon, let this go. Now that everything has been settled, we should let them go in peace.”
Patrick was already grateful enough that the Scammells had barely escaped with the Thompsons and the Dragon Corps‘ help he did not intend to get his revenge on Rodney!

For one, Rodney had two powerful Guardians with him, and none of them could stand a chance against them!
For two, Rodney was the son of the Southern Boss, and if Leon insisted on retaliating, this would not turn out well for any of them!
Therefore, the wise decision here was to let things go!
Perhaps by doing so, Rodney might even turn over a new leaf and give up trying to harass them!
“No! We can’t settle things like this! I will make him pay for what he did!” Leon shook his head in determination. He did not agree with Patrick; he knew that the Spears already had their eyes on the Cynthion Group, and thus there was no way Rodney would give up just like that!
If he swallowed his pride right then and there, allowing Rodney to go, Leon guessed that it would not be long before Rodney returned with a vengeance!
On the other hand, if he made Rodney get a taste of his own medicine… The Spears might hold off and stop harassing them!
“Can you even do that? That’s the funniest joke I’ve ever heard! Well, I’d like to see you try!” Rodney burst into laughter, casting Leon a look of sheer contempt.
“Sirs, Rodney Spears should be arrested in the name of harassment and disrupting civilian peace. Please capture him and punish him the way he deserves!” Leon turned to gaze at Oliver and Abraham. It was clear that he intended to have the Dragon Corps punish Rodney instead!
“What?!” everyone was stunned by this, especially Oliver and Abraham.
After all, Rodney had not done anything explicitly wrong, and they could not possibly arrest him without any concrete proof!
However, Leon was their direct superior, and they did not have the guts to disobey him!
They did not know what to do in this situation!
“Who do you think you are, twat? Do you honestly think the Dragon Corps will go around capturing people
just because you say so?” Rodney sneered, turning to shoot Leon an amused glance. He knew that the Dragon Corps did not like to stick their noses in affairs related to the Gangster World in situations like these, especially more so because he knew he did not even do anything wrong this time!
Even if he had, his father was the Southern Boss, for God’s sake; the Dragon Corps would not dare to do anything to him so long as he kept his hands clean!
Leon was out of his right mind, thinking that the Dragon Corps would capture him just because he said so!
However, before Rodney could even finish his train of thought, what happened next shocked him to the core.

“Rodney Spears, please follow us to the Dragon Corps headquarters for questioning!” After a moment’s hesitation, Oliver and Abraham stepped forward, flanking Rodney on both sides.

“Um…” Oliver and Abraham balked at this. They were just following orders, and so none of them knew how to respond to Rodney’s questioning.
“Rodney Spears, you’re involved in harassment and attempted assault, so the two Gold Dragon Guards will need to escort you back for further questioning! What’s wrong with that?” Leon replied coldly.

“Yes, Mister Wolf is right! Rodney Spears, please follow us back to the headquarters for interrogation,” Oliver added, nodding. He knew that neither of them would be able to capture Rodney in their own name, they were able to do so under the Dragon Corps and Leon’s orders. They might even be able to keep him in a holding cell for a few days to teach him a lesson!
However, they had to be careful not to keep him in there too long, lest they anger the Southern Boss by doing

If the two guards were capturing him without evidence, he could always get his father to stir up some trouble and rat them out to their superiors, but unfortunately, they were just escorting him to the headquarters for questioning, which was not against the
law at all.
As reluctant as he was, there was nothing he could do about this.
“You two are just Gold Dragon Guards, so don’t overstep your boundaries! Master, we shall keep them busy while you run!” The two Guardians stepped forward to shield Rodney behind their backs.
“How dare you, Fifth Guardian, Sixth Guardian? How dare you disrespect the Dragon Corps?” Oliver and Abraham were outraged by this.
Unfortunately, they were just Gold Dragon Guards, not Platinum Dragon Guards, and did not have much authority. Not only that but although Oliver had already attained the Semi Almighty State, Abraham was only at the Emperor State, which placed him at a significant disadvantage against the two Semi Almighty Warriors blocking their paths!

“Rodney Spears, heed my warning. We are under Mister Wolf- I mean, the Mister Platinum Dragon Guard’s orders to do this, so you’d best act smart! If not, the consequences will be dire!” Abraham snapped. He had almost let slip Leon’s true identity once again.
“A Platinum Dragon Guard?” Rodney furrowed his brows dubiously. Oliver and Abraham had not intended to do anything when they first arrived, but after Leon’s encouragement, their attitudes had undergone a 180- degree change! Now, after hearing Abraham say that they were under the Platinum Dragon Guard’s orders to do so, he could not help but wonder if this had something to do with Leon!
However, he could not piece how Leon was related to the Platinum Dragon Guard. After all, Leon was still too young, and he would be out of his right mind to think Leon was the Platinum Dragon Guard Abraham had mentioned!
“That’s right! He was the one who sent us here, and if you continue resisting, he will chase you till the ends of the earth to arrest you himself! When that happens, I’m sure the purpose of your stay will not be as simple as an interrogation,” Oliver said coldly, trying desperately to fill in the loopholes of Abraham’s lie.

As for the two Guardians, they quickly followed suit, intending to get back to their quarters as soon as possible and alert the Southern Boss about this!
Finally, Oliver and Abraham bade everything goodbye before escorting Rodney out.
It was soon peaceful and quiet again in the yard.

“Thud! Thud!” seeing that there was no way out of this anymore, Rick got on his knees and was followed suit by Eugene, Nigel, and the rest of the Scammells that had betrayed them.
After so long, most of the other elders and the collateral descendants of the first bloodline had arrived at the scene and managed to gain control of the situation under Damian’s leadership.
“Patrick, this is all my fault. I’m sorry… Please… forgive us for this…” Rick pleaded for mercy.
“How dare you call me by my name?! Rick, I’ve always been kind to you, and yet you betrayed me! Where is your conscience?” Patrick bellowed, the look in his eyes so fiery it was as though he could breathe fire at any
moment.
He would not be so infuriated if this had just been Rodney and Charlie’s plan to devour the Scammells‘ assets alone what ticked him off the most was that Rick, his own brother, had betrayed him and gone over to the
dark side!
Betrayal was certainly not a good feeling to harbor.
Rage and disappointment seeped into Patrick’s heart alongside it as well.

“Yes, sir!” The elders who were in charge of the familial judicial system stepped forward and strode towards Rick, Eugene, and Nigel.
“No!” The punished let out blood curdling screams of terror, but nothing could save them now.
“Rick, considering we are brothers, this is the best I can do for you. Although you never treated me as family, I still cannot bear to see you suffer. In two days, I will transfer four hundred and forty million dollars to your name, so that neither of your offspring will have to live in poverty for the rest of your lives. I sincerely hope that all of you will learn your lesson from this!” Patrick said with a strange look.
“Thank you, Patrick…” Rick stammered, hunched over in remorse and looking as though he had aged decades in just a few moments. Eugene and Nigel were not much better. Their faces were ashen with grief.
Thankfully, Patrick had offered to provide them money, so at least on the bright side, they could at least live
comfortably for the rest of their lives.

After settling their affairs, Patrick finally dismissed everyone from this meeting.
Soon, the only people that remained in the yard were Patrick, Leon, and the rest.
“Leon, thank you for what you’ve done… If it wasn’t for your help, none of us would’ve been able to make it out alive…” Patrick said, bowing to Leon in immense gratitude.
“Don’t flatter me, Grandpa! We’re family, so you shouldn’t have to thank me for this!” Leon quickly helped

“Yes, we’re family, but it would be better if you were willing to leave that other woman and devote your loyalty entirely to Iris,” Patrick replied with a rather strange expression. After what happened this time, he had changed his mind about Leon.
In the past, he used to think Leon was far less powerful than most men his age, and when Iris claimed that Leon was capable of slaughtering warriors of the Emperor State, he thought Iris had been brainwashed!
Patrick never once expected that what Iris claimed would turn out to be true!
He could not believe that even Anderson and Bill, two warriors at the Intermediate Emperor State, would fall victim to Leon. This was a blatant display of Leon’s power more than anything!
Although Leon had managed to triumph with the help of his secret weapons and treasures, it was still an impressive feat to be able to obtain such priceless treasures at such a young age!
In conclusion, Leon was an outstanding man in many fields including martial arts, medicine, and business. He was certainly one of the most talented men amongst the younger generation here in the Southern region, and Patrick could not help feeling even more impressed by this future grandson–in–law of his!
The only pity was that Leon seemed to have trouble settling down and did not seem devoted to only Iris. Patrick was concerned that Leon would dump Iris out of the blue one day and cause her irreparable emotional damage!
This was certainly the last possible scenario he would want to see!
“Grandpa, I’ve already told you, things between Cynthia and I are not what you think. You’re misunderstanding the situation…” Leon let out a bitter chuckle.
“Leon, men should be courageous enough to own up to their mistakes, so don’t keep on trying to talk your way out of this! Iris has already admitted that Cynthia is your girlfriend, so how can there possibly be a misunderstanding?” Patrick snapped, beginning to get a little annoyed at Leon’s constant denial.
“What?” Roanne could not believe her ears. She knew that Iris was Leon’s girlfriend, but she never once imagined that Leon would be dating other women besides Iris!
After the last few days, she had grown to trust Leon very much, and he had left a good lasting impression on her, so it was difficult for her to believe that Leon would do something like this!
However, what happened next shocked her even more.
“Grandpa, Cynthia and I were both willing to share Leon amongst us, and it’s not his fault. Please don’t reprimand him for this…” Iris quickly explained.
“W–what?!” Roanne widened her eyes in shock. She had been dubious of Patrick’s claims and had been
inclined to think that Leon was not as big a womanizer as Patrick thought, but Iris’s statement proved to be
even bigger a shock. She could not believe that not only did Iris know about the other woman,
she even willingly accepted the situation!

“Iris, you can’t be this naive! You can’t possibly continue to tolerate Leon’s infidelity like this!” Patrick was outraged to see how tolerant Iris seemed to be about Leon’s unfaithfulness. He knew that Leon probably loved Iris more than the other woman. Otherwise, why would he constantly put himself in danger just to help the Scammells?
Therefore, Patrick insisted that if Iris were to keep a grip on Leon’s womanizing behavior, there was a significant chance that Leon would turn over a new leaf and choose to be with Iris only!
However, not only was Iris unwilling to do so, she even seemed to be constantly helping Leon seek out Cynthia as though she wanted nothing more than for them to be together!
This was outrageous, and Patrick could not understand what had gotten in Iris!
“Grandpa, this is between Leon and me, and we will handle it ourselves. Please don’t interfere in our business, okay?” Iris pleaded. As Leon’s girlfriend, she was naturally unwilling to share her significant other with someone else, but the memory of Cynthia gradually losing herself to the dark side because of Leon was still fresh in her mind.
Not only that, but ever since she gatecrashed their engagement just to steal Leon away, Iris had always felt a sense of guilt and remorse towards Cynthia. Therefore, in order to save Cynthia before it was too late and to spare Leon the pain of being caught in a love triangle, she decided it was best to just suck it up and share their happy ending together!
Wasn’t this the best outcome they could all hope for?
“Y–you-” Patrick glowered at her in sheer rage but knew that there was nothing he could do.
“Let it go, Father! Leon has sacrificed so much for our family, and we owe him our lives. Since he and Iris are doing this of their own accord, we shouldn’t stick our noses in their business…” Damian piped up.
“Well… Fine! Okay! You can do whatever you like, and I won’t say another word!” Patrick sighed. He knew that Damian was right; Leon had helped them so many times in the past, and he was the only reason why they managed to foil Rick’s evil scheme and come out of all this alive.
Even until now, Patrick could not help feeling touched by the memory of how Leon had chosen to stay by their side instead of escaping while he had the chance.
It would not be an over–exaggeration to say that they owed Leon their lives! If he continued trying to come in between Leon and Iris‘ relationship, this would be akin to sabotaging the person that had sacrificed so
much to save them!
At the thought of this, Patrick finally came to a decision to give Leon and Iris their blessing.

Although he did not know how Leon managed to get his hands on power methods belonging to the Advanced Power class, it was still something to marvel at!
