Ch. 2291..2300
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2291
In the Thompson Mansion, Arthur and August returned home.
The two had to suppress their sorrows to start planning for Yonas's funeral.
Since they were not capable of punishing the murderer, Leon, they arranged for the funeral to take place three days later.
When the deadline was over, Leon and Angus ended up finding nothing at all. The two were prepared to kill Leon and avenge Yonas.
After some time passed, under the command of Arthur and August, the house where the second in line of the Thompsons lived was decorated into a temporary mourning hall.
Instantly, a shadow loomed over the Thompsons. The looming air suffocated every member that attended.
Just then, footsteps sounded from a distance and a family member hurried into the main hall, alerting Arthur and August.
"Mister Arthur, Mister August, there are three Dragon Guards at our door..." He said respectfully.
"What?"
"Why would the Dragon Guards be here?"
Both Arthur and August were stunned and exchanged confused looks.
"I'm not sure. All they said was that they wanted a word with you..." The man said honestly.
"I see... Take them to the guest room and keep them entertained. I will head over when possible..." Arthur said.
Since the house was made into a venue for the funeral, Arthur knew better than to receive his guest in the main hall. He instructed the man to lead the Dragon Guards to the guest room instead.
The two arrived at the guest room and formally greeted the three Dragon Guards. Amongst the three guards were Oliver and Abraham, who were standing by each side of the third unknown stranger.
Apart from the two of them, at the center stood a young man. A silver lock of hair cascaded down his forehead, and he wore a golden mask that concealed half of his face.
Though his appearance remained hidden, his remarkable bearing revealed that he was far from ordinary.
Clearly, this young man was none other than Leon.
In order to investigate Yonas's cause of death thoroughly, Leon had come up with a clever plan.
He intended to utilize his affiliation with the Dragon Corps and pay a visit to Arthur, the elder of the Thompsons, biding his time for the right moment to act.
As such, while Arthur and August mistakenly believed that Leon was the culprit behind Yonas' demise, and since his identity as a member of the Dragon Corps was not to be revealed casually, he took care to wear the golden mask that Alfred had given him.
Additionally, he made slight changes to his hairstyle and attire, ensuring that his true identity would not be easily recognizable by anyone that knew him.
"Oh, it's the esteemed Gold Dragon Guards!"
"Mister Scottson, Mister Jelphs, who might this be?"
Upon their meeting, Arthur immediately recognized Oliver and Abraham.
Simultaneously, he could not help but cast a curious glance at Leon, who donned the half-golden mask. His expression betrayed bewilderment as he was unable to fathom why this unknown member of the Dragon Corps was here and why he intentionally concealed his appearance.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2292
Upon hearing Arthur's inquiry, Oliver briefly introduced Leon's identity." Elder Thompson, let me introduce myself. This gentleman is Hugh Wolf, one of the Platinum Dragon Guards from the Southern region."
During their previous mission together in the Western region, where they joined forces to suppress the Poisowielder, Leon wore a half-golden mask to conceal his identity and adopted an alias in the past.
Oliver was well aware of this fact and thus did not reveal Leon's true name.
"A Platinum Dragon Guard? I never expected such a young man to be a Platinum Dragon Guard. A pleasure to meet you," Arthur was astonished.
Though Leon's mask obscured his age and features, based on his physique, Arthur could vaguely infer that he was not much older than thirty. Being a Platinum Dragon Guard in the Southern region's Dragon Corps was a position of high status, typically reserved for formidable martial artists at the Almighty state.
Leon's martial talent must be nothing short of terrifying to have achieved such a position at his age.
Momentarily taken aback, Arthur could not help but regard Leon with newfound respect.
"You flatter me, Elder Thompson," Leon spoke softly, his voice noticeably lower and huskier than before.
Neither Arthur nor August detected anything out of the ordinary, let alone suspect that the person before them was Leon.
After a brief exchange of pleasantries, Arthur cut to the chase with his question. "Mister Wolf, may I inquire about the purpose of your visit here?"
"Oh, we've heard about the unfortunate news regarding the demise of young Yonas. The Dragon Corps in the Southern region have already been informed. We find this incident rather peculiar and extraordinary, so our captain specifically dispatched the three of us to conduct a detailed investigation," Leon responded.
"What are you investigating?" Arthur and August exchanged puzzled glances, unable to fathom the connection between Yonas' murder and the Dragon Corps.
"Well, you see, a couple of days ago, we received information that the Demon Lord, ranking third on the criminal list, fled from the Central region to the Southern region. Based on the intelligence we possess, the Demon Lord was spotted in the vicinity of your residence. We suspect that Yonas' untimely demise might be related to him. Hence, our captain wants us to look into the matter thoroughly." Leon fabricated a story on the spot.
His true purpose for this visit was to uncover the cause of Yonas' death. However, he could not simply request to examine Yonas' body without a valid reason. Thus, he casually mentioned the Demon Lord as his excuse.
It was the Dragon Corps' duty to hunt down any criminals and since the Demon Lord was one of the most notorious criminals who could be a danger to anyone around him, Arthur would have no choice but to corporate with the investigation.
"What?"
Both Arthur and August were stunned by the sudden news.
"Mister Wolf, don't you think there might be a mistake? We have gotten to the bottom of how my son was killed and the culprit is the chairman of Cynthion Group, Leon Wolf! What does the Demon Lord have to do with this?" August asked in confusion.
"Oh? Is that so? Have you witnessed this Leon Wolf kill Mister Yonas with your own eyes?" Leon lifted an eyebrow, feeling troubled that August was still dead-set on believing that he was the culprit
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2293
"We didn’t." August shook his head.
"You didn't? Mister Thompson, you need evidence to make accusations! Since you didn't see Leon kill Mister Yonas, you shouldn't jump to conclusion!" Leon said.
"But,” August opened his mouth to argue but was instantly interrupted by Leon.
"That's enough! Mister Thompson, are you doubting the Dragon Corps authority and ability?" Leon questioned sharply.
"I- That's not what I mean," August said hastily.
Though the Thompsons were the head of all families in the southern region with close to no rival, the Dragon Corps was a special organization that ruled over the southern region and wielded far more power than the Thompsons.
Since Leon was a high-level Platinum Dragon Guard, August dared not to defy him directly, knowing that enraging Leon would not be beneficial to the Thompsons.
He quieted down at this thought.
"Elder Thompsons, according to what we've found so far, Mister Yonas's death likely has something to do with the Demon Lord. I'd like for your corporation so that we can examine Mister Yonas's body to look into the cause of his death and determine if the Demon Lord is truly involved,"
Leon said with his eyes trained on Arthur.
"You want to examine the body? That's hardly appropriate!" Arthur frowned, troubled.
His grandson died and he preferred to let Yonas rest in peace instead of having the Dragon Guards taunt with his body.
Sensing Arthur's reluctance, Leon decided to pressure him further. "Forgive me for being blunt, Elder Thompson. The Demon Lord has been spotted near your premise and we don't know if he is plotting something against your family. If Mister Yonas was truly murdered by the Demon Lord, there's no telling if other members of your family will become victims as well. For the safety of your family and to eradicate the evil of our community, please corporate before more casualty emerges."
"But," Arthur paled and fell into silence.
He knew about the criminal list and understood that every single criminal listed was a notorious, ruthless individual.
Though he was certain that Leon murdered Yonas, his belief began to waver when the Dragon Guards showed up, claiming that the Demon Lord was seen around the Thompsons Mansion.
If Yonas was truly killed by the Demon Lord, Arthur would have wrongfully accused Leon and there would also be a high chance that other members of the Thompsons would be targeted.
Out of consideration for their safety and to learn the truth,
August concluded that he needed to corporate with the Dragon Corps' investigation to prevent himself from making a mistake, or the consequences might be unbearable.
"Mister Wolf, I'll let you examine the body, but I have one condition. I don't care how you do it, but you're not allowed to cut my grandson's body open!" Arthur said.
According to his knowledge, an autopsy was a common method used to determine the cause of death.
Yonas died a wrongful death and Arthur could not bring himself to imagine cutting his body apart; if he allowed such a thing to happen, he would not be able to face his grandson in the afterlife. i
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2294
"Don't worry, Elder Thompson! I have some experience in the medical field. All I need is to see Mister Yonas's wound, so there's no need for me to cut him open," Leon said with a smile.
"I see. Very well. Mister Wolf, please follow me. I'll take you to Yonas's body."
Arthur instantly relaxed upon learning that Yonas's body would not be cut open and led the three Dragon Guards out of the guest room, and into the main hall.
In the main hall, Yonas's body was currently being placed in an ice coffin.
Arthur commanded two other members of the family to open the coffin and Leon swiftly went over to lift Yonas's eyelids, before touching his chest to begin the examination.
Shortly after, he found something and his expression darkened.
"Mister Wolf, how is it? Have you found anything?" Arthur asked.
"Yeah, I did! Mister Yonas has taken a second blow to the chest by someone of tremendous power. His entire internal circulation was damaged because of his second blow and that's what caused him to die," Leon explained.
Leon never truly believed that he was the one who killed
Yonas, and now that he found out Yonas took a second damage to his fatal wound, Leon's belief that someone else killed Yonas was confirmed.
No matter who the murderer was, Fiona was involved.
"What?!" Both Arthur and August were stunned.
"Mister Wolf, can there be a mistake? Back when Finlay checked on Yonas, he said that Yonas's wound on the chest worsened and that's what caused him to die. How can there be a second damage? If that is the case, why didn't Finlay figure it out?" August snapped out of it and asked in disbelief.
Both August and Arthur firmly believed that Leon was the person who led to Yonas's death mainly because of the diagnosis Finlay made.
However, the Dragon Corps seemed to have a different insight.
If Yonas truly took a second blow to his injury and the person who did it skilfully damaged his circulation, Leon was likely, not responsible.
The result shocked the two and they felt stricken.
"I'm not mistaken! If this Finlay didn't make an accurate diagnosis, that just means that he is inexperienced!" Leon said.
"No way! Mister Wolf, forgive me, but Finlay is famously known as the best doctor in this area. He is experienced and shouldn't make such a mistake. You don't seem like a
professional doctor to me. I suggest that the Dragon Corps send over a doctor to examine Yonas once again," August said gingerly as he questioned Leon's skills.
He did not know the extent of Leon's capability, so he naturally believed in Finlay's diagnosis over Leon's.
Arthur thought the same and did not feel convinced by Leon's words.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2295
Before Leon could argue, Oliver instantly spoke out to defend Leon. "Mister Thompson, you are wrong! You may not know this, but Mister Wolf is extremely skilled in medicine even if he's not an official doctor!"
"That's right! The Dragon Corps in the southern and western regions collaborated to hunt the Poisonwielder down before this, but the Reaper’s Breath the Poisonwielder had was so powerful that none of us can do anything about it. Mister Wolf was the one who produced the antidote and led us to success in the elimination of the Poisonwielder," Abraham agreed along, praising Leon's skills.
"What? That happened?!" Both Arthur and August were stunned.
They both heard about the Poisonwielder in the past and knew about the Reaper's Breath he used.
It was precise because of the Reaper's Breath that the Dragon Corps in the western region struggled to capture the Poisonwielder.
However, upon learning that Leon produced an antidote for the Reaper's Breath and assisted the Dragon Guards in the western region to eliminate the Poisonwielder, the two finally realized that they underestimated Leon.
If what Oliver and Abraham said was true, Leon's skills in medicine would surpass that of countless experienced doctors, including Finlay. As a conclusion, Leon's diagnosis would be far more reliable compared to Finlay's.
"Mister Wolf, does it mean that Yonas was truly killed by the Demon Lord?" Arthur snapped out of it and asked.
Due to what Oliver and Abraham said, he started to believe in Leon's skills and diagnosis.
Since Leon claimed that his visit was related to an investigation against the Demon Lord and it was concluded that Yonas was killed by someone with great power, Arthur began to suspect that the Demon Lord was responsible.
"The Demon Lord might have done it, but there's still a chance that one of the Thompsons' enemies did this. All in all, the Dragon Corps will continue to look into this matter. If the Demon Lord is found responsible for Mister Yonas's death, we will do our utmost best to hunt the Demon Lord down," Leon said.
Upon examining the body, Leon already guessed that Fiona was involved in Yonas's death. However, considering that Fiona was merely a frail woman with no ability to commit murder, Leon could not determine who the true culprit was at the moment, so he could only offer Arthur an ambiguous answer.
"Mister Wolf, thank you for your help," Arthur took a deep breath with a dark look on his face.
The Demon Lord ranked third on the criminal list and long reached the Advanced Almighty State.
If Yonas was truly killed by the Demon Lord, the Thompsons would have no means to seek revenge and their only option was to rely on the Dragon Corps.
"I've already found some leads today and we will follow up on this, Elder Thompson. If you have no other questions about the investigation, we should head back now," Leon bowed slightly and said.
He only came to look into Yonas's cause of death and since that goal was achieved, he saw no need to stay any longer.
He bid farewell to Arthur and August and promptly left with Oliver and Abraham.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2296
Once the three left, Arthur gritted out coldly, "Damn the Demon Lord! August, arrange our men to look around for the Demon Lords. Once we find something, report to me right away so we can join forces with the Dragon Corps to take the Demon Lord down!"
After what Leon said, Arthur was misled into believing that the Demon Lord was responsible for Yonas's death.
Though the Demon Lord was powerful and the Thompsons may not be able to face him alone, the Thompsons were still the head of all families in the southern region with countless connections.
With the Thompsons' help to track the Demon Lord down, the Dragon Corps would have an easier time finding the Demon Lord; with the Thompsons and the Dragon Corps on the same side, they might be able to kill the Demon Lord and avenge Yonas.
"Dad, calm down for a second! There are still a lot of things that seem weird. The Demon Lord might not be the killer! We can't act recklessly," August said thoughtfully.
"Weird? What's weird?" Arthur asked.
"First of all, Fiona, Norm, and Sully all accused Leon to be the murderer! The three of them were with Yonas the entire time, so they can't possibly be confused about who the killer was! Besides, the Demon Lord is famously ruthless even
amongst the individuals on the criminal list! If he was the one who killed Yonas, why didn't he kill Fiona and the other two?" August analyzed.
"Well," Arthur was instantly rendered speechless.
August was right. Considering how vicious the Demon Lord was, he would not leave any witness alive if he was responsible for Yonas's death and that alone seemed suspicious.
"Besides, Mister Wolf didn't confirm that the Demon Lord is responsible because he doesn't have any proof of it yet.
Before we know for sure that the Demon Lord did this, it's best we don't provoke him or we may risk the lives of everyone in this family," August added.
Though everyone wanted to rid the community of evil criminals like the Demon Lord, the Thompsons hardly had enough power to take down one of the top three criminals on the list.
If it was confirmed that the Demon Lord killed Yonas, the Thompsons were willing to risk everything to retaliate, but at this moment, there was no telling if the Demon Lord was truly involved.
If the Thompsons took the initiative to hunt the Demon Lord down, the Demon Lord would do everything in his power to hurt the Thompsons and the Thompsons would find themselves in an extremely dangerous position.
"Yeah, you are right! But, if the Demon Lord isn't responsible, who's the culprit?" Arthur scowled.
"I don't know. Based on what we know so far, Leon is still the biggest suspect because of what Fiona and the others said. The Demon Lord is the second suspect at best," August said.
Fiona was Yonas's girlfriend and an ordinary woman, who had no motive or power to murder Yonas. On top of that, even Norm and Sully accused Leon of the murder, so August did not suspect anything of what Fiona said.
Though the Dragon Guards determined that Yonas died of a second blow to his injury, they were not able to provide any firm evidence and words alone could not make Leon any less of a suspect.
Because of that, August still believed that Leon was the one who killed Yonas.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2297
"Anyway, Angus and Leon already promised to find out about the truth in three days! Let's just wait! Besides, Mister Wolf said that the Dragon Corps will continue to investigate the matter. If the Demon Lord turns out to the be culprit, we will then join forces with the Dragon Corps!" August summarized.
"Yeah. You're right! Let's just wait!" Arthur nodded and accepted August's advice.
Meanwhile, on Leon's end, he parted ways with Oliver and Abraham and drove home on his one.
In the mansion in the Heavenly Waters Estate, Leon arrived home just in time for Iris, Cynthia, and the others to return from work as well; along with them were Angus and a dozen of martial artists from the Thompsons.
Amongst the member, there were two elders and a few core members of the Thompsons.
When Angus defended Leon, he was cast out of the family and had to leave with some of his supporters.
He did not want the Thompsons to grow apart and always believed that Leon was wrongfully accused. Hence, he intended to find the true culprit behind Yonas's death to clarify any misunderstanding between Leon and Arthur, before returning to the Thompsons.
Angus did not take all members of the first bloodline with him and only brought two elders and a few core members with him to investigate the truth; should Leon need any help, Angus believed that he and the dozen skilled martial artists he brought with him would suffice.
In the living room, Angus and the others hurried over when Leon returned.
"Mister Wolf, you're finally back! How'd the investigation go?"
"I've found something. Mister Yonas died because he took a second blow to his wound. His internal circulation was destroyed because of that," Leon explained, skilfully leaving out the part where he visited the Thompson Mansion as a Dragon Guard.
"If that's the case, Fiona is our number suspect for getting Yonas killed!" Realization dawned on Angus.
If Yonas died from the second blow, it would mean that Leon was not responsible for his death, and it would be extremely odd that Fiona accused Leon when she knew that Leon was not the killer.
"That's right! However, Fiona is merely an ordinary woman. She doesn't have the strength to kill Mister Yonas. We'll have to look into her to find out who she was working with," Leon paused for a moment and asked, "Uncle Angus, how did the investigation on Fiona go?"
Leon and Angus reached an agreement that Leon would look into Yonas's death, while Angus was responsible for looking into Fiona's background.
With the investigation going both ways at the same time, it would be far more efficient.
Since Leon already found out Yonas's cause of death, it was all up to what Angus found.
"I've arranged for Yuri to look into it. It's been some time and he should be back anytime now. I wonder if he found something useful," Angus said.
Just then, Yuri's energetic shout pierced through the air as he walked in with two other martial artists from the Thompsons. "Dad, I'm back!"
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2298
"It's about time, Yuri! I sent you to look into Fiona's background. How did it go?" Angus asked hastily.
"Dad, this Fiona girl seems to be using an alibi so I can't find anything about her," Yuri shook his head.
Though Angus was chased out of the family, the first bloodline of the Thompsons still held a certain level of power. However, despite exhausting all connections, they could not find anything about Fiona, which led to two possibilities: she was either using a fake name, or someone else with power hid all information about Fiona.
"What?" Angus was shocked and his heart sank at the update.
Leon found out why Yonas died, and Fiona had no power to murder Yonas on her own, so both Angus and Leon already concluded that someone else was pulling the strings.
At that moment, Fiona became the key suspect and witness to finding the truth.
If he and Leon wanted to uncover the true culprit behind Yonas's murder, they had to rely on Fiona to expose the mastermind.
Furthermore, since Arthur and August previously mistook Leon for the killer of Yonas, they had no suspicions or reservations about Fiona. However, Fiona already took the opportunity to disappear without a trace.
At the moment, Yuri could not find any information about Fiona's identity or background, making it even more challenging to locate her which meant that the only lead came to a dead end.
One can only imagine the frustration they all must have felt.
"What a cunning and devious killer! They sure are adept at concealing their tracks!" Leon's expression darkened.
He did not anticipate how prepared the culprit was.
Not only did they rupture Yonas's internal circulation, and frame Leon for the murder, but they also skilfully covered their tracks, leaving no evidence or loopholes behind.
This framing plot was indeed ingenious, nearly flawless.
"Damn it! How could this happen?" Angus's expression turned sour.
Despite Leon's efforts in investigating the cause of Yonas's death, the only lead, Fiona, vanished and the prospect of him and Leon finding the killer seemed like an impossible task.
"Dad, don't worry," Yuri quickly interjected, "although I haven't discovered Fiona's identity or background, I accidentally stumbled upon some crucial information,"
"Oh? What important information?" Both Angus and Leon perked up upon hearing this news.
"Well, I found out that Yonas went to an upscale private club last night and had a conflict with Rodney. He managed to rescue Fiona from Rodney’s clutches. It was because of this incident that Yonas and Fiona officially became a couple," Yuri detailed the events that took place at the private club.
Since he could not uncover Fiona’s identity or background, Yuri had a moment of inspiration.
He decided to investigate Yonas's recent activities to see if he had any enemies, which ultimately led to his untimely demise.
Yonas defeating Rodney at the private club and his act of heroism caused quite a stir at the time, and it was witnessed by many affluent youths in their social circle. Hence, it was easy to gather information about the conflict.
In the end, Yuri stumbled upon this vital lead by chance.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2299
"What? The son of the Southern Boss, Rodney? So, it's him!
After hearing Yuri's account, Leon and Angus were taken aback.
"I get it! Fiona is most likely connected to Rodney. Mister Yonas must have fallen for Rodney's seductive scheme!" Leon suddenly realized, feeling a sense of clarity.
He now investigated Yonas's cause of death and deduced that Fiona's involvement with Yonas was premeditated, intending to kill him and frame Leon. Meanwhile, Yonas saved Fiona from Rodney's clutches and established a romantic relationship.
The coincidences lined up too perfectly, indicating that Rodney and Fiona staged this whole affair.
Moreover, the Southern Boss and his son, Rodney, held deep grudges against Leon, even attempting to kill him multiple times, but each attempt failed.
Burdened with false accusations and estranged from the Thompsons, Leon landed right where the Southern Boss and Rodney wanted him and they could easily eliminate Leon by manipulating Arthur and the other Thompsons.
The Southern Boss and Rodney had sufficient motive to commit murder and possessed the ability to kill Yonas silently, and anyone could conclude that the Southern Boss and Rodney were most likely the masterminds behind the murder of Yonas!
"The Spears! How dare they kill Yonas?! The Thompsons won't stand idly by!" Angus slammed the table in a fit of anger.
As a prominent figure among the second generation of the Thompsons, he excelled in intelligence and ability, surpassing his peers.
Like Leon, he too guessed that the Southern Boss and Rodney were likely the true culprits behind Yonas's murder effortlessly.
On top of the atrocious act of murder, they also framed Leon for this crime, causing a rift between the legitimate heirs of the first and second bloodlines of the Thompsons. Because of that, Arthur came close to killing Leon.
One had to admit that this plot was exceptionally malicious and truly abhorrent.
"Damn it! I'm going to find my uncle now, reveal the true culprits behind Yonas's murder to him, and seek revenge for Yonas!" After his anger subsided, Angus immediately strode toward the exit but was stopped in time by Leon.
"Uncle Angus, it's pointless! This is merely our speculation. We currently have no evidence to prove that the Southern Boss and Rodney are the ones who killed Mister Yonas.
Even if you were to tell this to Elder Thompsons and Mister August, there's no guarantee they would believe it. Besides, even if they do believe, without proof, there's nothing we can do to the Southern Boss," Leon shook his head.
"Well," Angus was instantly rendered speechless and calmed down.
He knew that Leon was right.
Arthur and August were firmly convinced that Leon was the killer and would never believe otherwise without any proof.
On top of that, the Southern Boss practically ruled over the Southern region with comparable connections and power to the Thompsons; even if Arthur and August were willing to believe that Leon was not the one responsible, they could not seek revenge against the Southern Boss either, or the Southern Boss might use this opportunity to declare war against the Thompsons, which would hardly benefit the Thompsons in any way.
The Ex-Husband’s Revenge chapter 2300
"Mister Wolf, what should we do now?" Angus asked, appearing somewhat troubled.
Both he and Leon already deduced that Rodney was likely the culprit behind Yonas' murder. However, it was not an easy task to gather evidence for what to do next.
"We need evidence to punish the culprit," Leon replied, contemplating for a moment. "Currently, Fiona is the key. Our immediate priority should be to find her as soon as possible. Once we locate her, everything can be resolved."
Given that Fiona was the only person with knowledge of the crime scene and a witness, if they managed to apprehend her, Leon and Angus had the means to extract the truth from her.
With Fiona's testimony, Leon's name would be cleared and Arthur could also retaliate against the Southern Boss and seek justice.
It would be a win-win situation.
"Well, alright, I'll arrange for people to find Fiona!" Angus nodded. "I'll leave no stone unturned and find her!"
Although Yuri was not able to uncover Fiona's identity and background, both he and Leon guessed she was connected to Rodney.
Moreover, Fiona was most likely a member of the Spears or affiliated with their peripheral forces. This immediately narrowed down the scope of Leon's search and if they were fortunate, they might catch Fiona in sooner.
"I'm afraid that won't work," Yuri disagreed, shaking his head. "Rodney's plan this time is meticulous, nearly flawless. He definitely wouldn't leave behind Fiona for us to capture. If things go as expected, he has either already silenced her or sent her away from the Southern region and hid her somewhere. Even if we put in our best efforts to search, it would likely be a fruitless waste of energy. The hope of finding Fiona is extremely slim."
Leon listened but maintained a serious expression. "Yes, I know that. I've also considered that. With Rodney's cunning and scheming nature, he certainly wouldn't let us find Fiona. However, no matter how faint the hope may be, we must try. It's better than sitting idly and waiting for our demise."
"Well, that makes sense," Yuri said hesitantly.
At the moment, Fiona was their only hope and if they wanted to find any lead, they would have to find Fiona first.
Even if it seemed impossible to find her, they must try instead of sitting on their thumbs.
"In any case, we need to do something! Let's try our best to look for Fiona. If we can locate or capture her, that's great; but if we can't find her, I can only risk everything and fight fire with fire to make the Southern Boss pay," Leon said with a determined look on his face.
"Fight fire with fire? What does that mean?”
Angus and Yuri shot each other a confused look.
