"Sure." Iris, Cynthia, and the others nodded.
They knew that they held little to no power and could not be of help, so they planned to stay alert and avoid getting in Leon's way.
"Dad, what should we do now? The Southern Boss and Rodney framed Leon and even want to kill him now. This is far too much! You have to find a way to help him. We can't just watch as he, Iris, and the others die," Roanne said worriedly, turning to Angus for help.
Angus sighed. "I understand, and I want to help him too, but our family is now divided, and your Grandpa Arthur won't be able to help him resist the Southern Boss, and that's the precise reason why the Southern Boss dares to make a move."
He knew very well that if it were in the past and the Thompsons fully supported Leon, the Southern Boss would have no power over Leon.
However, with both Arthur and August mistakenly believing that Leon was the culprit behind Yonas's death, there was no way that they would be willing to assist Leon.
Without the support of Arthur and the Thompsons' second bloodline, members of the Thompsons' first bloodline alone would not be sufficient to fend off the Southern Boss.
"Whether Grandpa Arthur is willing to help or not, we have to give it a try. It's much better than sitting around and waiting for our doom,” Ruth said hesitantly.

Initially, he thought that once Leon learned of this, he would likely be scared and flee in haste or find a place to hide.
To prevent Leon from slipping away, he even arranged several scouts to monitor Leon's movements around the mansion in advance.
To his bewilderment, instead of running or hiding, Leon stayed home to confront him, which caught him off guard.
Still, Leon's refusal to flee saved him some trouble and it was exactly what the Southern Boss wanted.
"Southern Boss, you've repeatedly sent people to ambush me in the past, and I haven't had a chance to settle that matter with you! Now, you're escalating things further, taking advantage of the Spears' influence to commit wrongdoing! I warn you, don't push it too far!" Leon rebuked in a deep voice.
"What if I push it too far? Let me give it to you straight, brat, you have one chance to survive this. As long as you hand over Cynthion Group and all the formulae for the alchemical pills, I might consider sparing your life! Refuse and you shall die today!" The Southern Boss assumed a superior posture, his words dripping with threats.
He and Rodney had been meticulously scheming against Leon recently, with the sole purpose of seizing control of Cynthion Group.
As the chairman of Cynthion Group, Leon held all the formulae and core secrets of the company and it would be ideal with Leon was willing to hand everything over.
The Southern Boss was willing to fulfill his promise and spare Leon's life.
After all, Leon was mistaken as the person who killed Yonas, so even if the Southern Boss let go of Leon, Arthur would still kill him three days later.
No matter what happened, Leon would only survive another three days.
"You want me to hand over Cynthion Group? Dream on!" Leon scoffed and stared at the Southern Boss in contempt, completely unaffected by his threats.
"Very well! You asked for this! If it's death you seek, I shall grant your wish!" Enraged by Leon's contemptuous attitude, the Southern Boss gathered a powerful force in the palm of his hand and intended to kill Leon on the spot.
Once Leon died, he should be able to achieve his goal by interrogating Iris and Cynthia.

"Hang on!" Seeing how the Southern Boss intended to harm Leon, Angus stepped forward and stood before Leon.
"Angus Thompson, what's the meaning of this? Do you want to protect Leon and fight me?" The Southern Boss narrowed his eyes maliciously.
He already planned to get rid of Angus and Yuri, so the fact that Angus stepped forward played in his favor.
His action came to a sudden halt and he did not jump into action.
"So what if that's what I’m doing? Mister Wolf is a friend of the Thompsons and he has helped us multiple times in the past! You'll have to step over my dead body if you wish to hurt him!" Angus declared with determination.
"You? What a joke! If it were in the past, with Arthur around, I might have some reservations about the Thompsons. Since the first and second bloodlines of the Thompsons have parted ways, who are you to stop me from doing what I want?" The Southern Boss sneered and glanced at Angus in contempt.
Amongst all the martial artists in the southern region except for the Dragon Guards, only the Southern Boss and Arthur managed to reach the Advanced Almighty State, and since Arthur was slightly stronger, he was the only one the Southern Boss feared.
Angus was merely in the initial state of the Almighty State, which meant that he was miles away from reaching the Southern Boss's level of strength, so naturally, the Southern Boss did not see him as a threat.
"Don't get smug just yet! The conflicts among the Thompsons are temporary and I've already informed my uncle about this. He should be on his way here now! If you dare to hurt Mister Wolf, the Thompsons will hunt you down once Uncle Arthur gets here!" Angus said coldly, attempting to intimidate the Southern Boss by mentioning Arthur.
"You can't fool me, Angus! Leon's the person who murdered Yonas Thompson and it's considered merciful that Arthur didn't kill him, so why would he come all the way here to help Leon? Besides, I don't fear the Thompsons. Even if Arthur is here, he won't be able to do a thing!" The Southern Boss mocked and snorted.
Indeed, though the Spears were not as powerful as the Thompsons, they were close enough and once Leon was dead, Arthur would not be able to interfere in the matter.
"But," Angus was instantly rendered speechless.
He knew that the Southern Boss was right. Though he sent Yuri to talk to Arthur, both Arthur and August mistook Loen as the person responsible for Yonas's death, so the chances that Yuri could convince Arthur to come were slim.
It was unlikely for Arthur to come to their rescue and Angus dared not to get his hopes up; even if Arthur was kind enough to lend them a hand, he could only try to intimidate

In conclusion, Arthur would not be of much help as long as the Southern Boss managed to kill Leon before he arrived.

However, if you insist on getting involved and siding with Leon, I won't show you any mercy! Though he planned to kill Angus all along, Angus was still an important figure of the Thompsons and the nephew of Arthur. Knowing that the Thompsons might retaliate if he harmed Angus, the Southern Boss made a point to warn Angus ahead of time.
If Angus still chose to interfere, Arthur and the Thompsons would not have any reasons to seek revenge.
"Don't bother trying to scare me off! I repeat, you'll have to step over my dead body to harm Leon!" Angus said as he stubbornly refused to leave.
He raised his hand and decisively gave the order to the Spears members," Listen up, members of the Spears, prepare to attack! If anyone can capture or kill Leon, there'll be a hefty reward! Anyone who dares to obstruct us will be dealt with mercilessly!"

As the Southern Boss issued his command, the skilled members of the Spears formed a semicircular formation to surround Leon, Angus, and the others.
Tension rose in the air and the battle was about to erupt!

It was obvious who would win, but considering how much Leon did for him, Angus refused to leave him behind; the only option left for him was to buy time until Yuri returned.

"You have something to say? What is it? Have you finally come through and decided to hand over Cynthion Group along with all the recipes for the alchemical pills you sell?" The Southern Boss asked mockingly.
Assuming that Leon was terrified by the intimidating presence of the Spears' martial artists and was about to compromise, the Southern Boss raised his arm to stop his men from attacking.

"Southern Boss, I can hand over Cynthion Group, but I have a question for you and Rodney!" Leon said casually and narrowed his eyes sharply.
"What is it?" The Southern Boss raised his eyebrow, seemingly interested in Leon's offering.
His true intention in attacking Leon was always to take over Cynthion Group, so he was more than willing to answer questions if it meant that Leon would hand over the company along with all the recipes.
"It's simple. I want to ask Rodney how he managed to kill Mister Yonas! Who was it that destroyed Mister Yonas' internal circulation?" Leon kept his eyes on Rodney intently; his sharp gaze piercing like a blade.
"What? I didn’t kill Yonas! I don't know what you are talking about!" Stunned, Rodney instantly started panicking.
He assumed that he planned everything perfectly and did not leave any trace behind, so no one would know that he was responsible for Yonas's death apart from the Fourth Apostle, Fiona, and Joel, who were involved.
However, not only did Leon guess that he was the culprit, but he also pointed out that Yonas died because his internal circulation was destroyed, and it completely caught Rodney offguard.
Shaken to the core, Rodney lost his composure.
"I know what I'm saying! I managed to find Fiona and she told me herself that you killed Yonas! She can't possibly be lying!" Seeing how Rodney was flustered, Leon released his power at Rodney assertively without giving Rodney any chance to think.
"No! That's not possible! I sent Fiona out of the Southern region yesterday so you shouldn't have found her!" Rodney blurted out.
"Rodney, shut up! Don’t fall for his trick!" The Southern Boss's expression darkened, but it was too late.
"H- How dare you tricked me?!" Realization dawned on Rodney that he was fooled.
"So what if I tricked you? Rodney, as expected, you are responsible for Mister Yonas's death. How shameless can you be to frame me for doing it?" Leon roared.
Though he did guess that Rodney was responsible, it was merely a guess and he had no evidence to support this theory. However, Rodney already admitted to his crime indirectly and the last doubt in Leon's mind finally cleared.
Apart from him, Angus and the other Thompsons heard it as well.
Yonas was Angus's family and Angus was furious upon learning how Rodney viciously killed Yonas and blamed it on Leon, causing the division between the first and second bloodlines of the Thompsons.

"Southern Boss, Rodney, how dare you two plot to kill Yonas?! The Thompsons won't let this go!" Angus glared daggers at them.
"Is that so? Let's see what you can do about it!" The Southern Boss's heart sank and his expression darkened.
Since Rodney left no trace behind, both Arthur and August thought that Leon was responsible and the situation worked in the Spears' favor. To the Southern Boss's surprise, Rodney accidentally let it slip that he killed Yonas.
"Dad, what should we do now?" Rodney's face was flushed with frustration, realizing that he might have ruined his father's plan.
"It's fine. So what if they found out? This lot can't do much about it!" The Southern Boss scoffed.
He planned to kill Angus and Leon all along and the fact that Rodney was responsible forYonas's death was discovered merely strengthened his resolve to kill the two.
Once every single witness at the scene was removed, the truth would never get out.

With that plan in mind, the Southern Boss turned his attention back to Leon and praised, "Leon, I must admit that you are rare talent and even Rodney falls short when compared to you!"

A battle erupted and though Angus and the Thompsons were outnumbered, all the Thompson members present were powerful, being in the Semi-Almighty and Almighty States; the Grand and Fourth elder were both in the Intermediate Almighty State.
Under the leadership of Angus and the two elders, the Thompsons barely managed to stop the Spears as the Southern Boss did not get involved in the battle.
However, due to the difference in number, Angus and his comrades soon found themselves at a disadvantage and they all knew that they would eventually lose.
"Mister Wolf, they're too powerful! You need to run now while you still have the chance, or it'll all be too late!" Angus's heart sank and shouted at Leon, urging him to run.
He knew that the Southern Boss would not let anyone escape alive now that the truth of Yonas's death was exposed.
At the moment, the only way that they may survive was for Leon to run and for the others to retreat afterward; if they dragged it out until the Southern Boss decided to get involved, everyone present would be slaughtered.
"Run? That won't be necessary! Uncle Angus, please hold on. I'll come to help once I kill the Southern Boss," Leon said before distancing himself from the others to lure the Southern Boss into attacking him.
