Ch. 1221..1230
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1221-Around noon, Helen finished her work and stepped out of her office at Lanecorp.
She immediately found Frank lounging around and sighed in exasperation. "I've been working overtime, but you're goofing around!" Her accusing glare sent Frank flinching, and he promptly got to his feet, smiling apologetically. "I have no idea what your work entails, but I guess the best bees are always busy bees.
That's my girl for you-she's just amazing." "Heh. You're slick, I'll give you that."
Helen snorted but showed no inclination to blFrank, even linking arms with him and smiling. "There's a nice restaurant nearby. Let's go." "Really? To have the honor of Ms. Lane's interest? I really need to try the menu now." Frank smiled, and they left the office together. Many Lanecorp employees were watching, and since Frank and Helen had started work for a while, it was clear to them that those two were in a relationship.
Still, many of the male employees were indignant-Helen was the board chairwoman and had immeasurably good looks! Why would she fall for the head of their health and security department? If they were being mean, Frank was just a glorified security guard. Hell, even if they were being nice, all he had was a sinecure! It was certainly a conundrum for everyone else, but Frank particularly relished in their stares of confusion-it just went to show how great his woman was.
If anything, he was a little smug about it.
Nonetheless, a fortyish man scoffed from the elevator. "Urgh, how brazen.
Literally a piece of shit on the Mona Lisa." The man was clearly being mean toward Frank and was obviously not a board member. Otherwise, he would know that the shitstain was the reason Helen took over as chairwoman without issue.
"Well, it sounds like you're prejudiced against me." Frank kept smiling. "I won't deny that my woman is the Mona Lisa, but isn't callinga piede of spit quidf ihe?" His blunt question only left Marco smirking in defiance.
"Oh, I'm sorry-you're right. Shit can at least be used as fertilizer, while you're just a useless maggot." "Watch your mouth, Mr. Hinds." Helen scowled right then.
Marco, however, was not stopping.
Clearly having beef against Frank, he snorted and said, "You only cin every other day, and even then, you don't work at all, thanks to you backing. I honestly don't know what Ms Lane sees in you, Frank!" Mr. Hinds, Helen shapped sternly. "You can talk toin private if you're unhappy with this arrangement. But publicly insulting the head of our health and security department will affect teamwork."
"Hmph!" Marco snorted again. "Did I say anything wrong, Ms. Lane? All he does is goof around and tell leveryone else to do his work. Is Lanecorp really accommodating a man like him?! This is too much, even if he's your boyfriend! "That's enough!" Helen's expression cooled.
"Mr. Hinds, if you-"
Still, while Helen chose to ignore the man, Frank stopped and studied the scowling man.
"Mr. Hinds, was it?" He smiled. "You're the head of finance, right?" "What's it to you?" Marco Hinds sneered.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1222-"Ah, ah, ah. It's alright." Frank raised a hand to stop Helen, smiling calmly despite the looks from the Lanecorp employees around them. "It seems like Mr.
Hinds is upset, but he is right to prioritize the company's interest. However, while I have been slacking off, that doesn't mean I've done nothing." Wagging a finger, Frank chuckled as he finished, "After all, I did just bring in a major business deal for Lanecorp." "A major business deal? You?" Marco snorted, clearly skeptical.
"You're the head of Lanecorp's health and security department, but you're nothing more than a glorified security guard. And you're saying you've been representing the company? Hell, I'll go down on my knees and apologize if you can even earn a hundred grand for the company!" "You'd better not regret it now." Frank chuckled as he picked up the morning paper from a nearby shelf and passed it to Marco, pointing at the announcement of Zamri's highway
project, "Check this out. There's a land lot where this highway would pass through, which I've bought. The value would inflate over ten times the cost I bought it with, and I will be giving the said land lot to Lanecorp. Is that enough?"
As Frank smiled and stared at Marco, the man finished reading the article, pondered, and looked at Frank differently. Even his tone changed drastically, as he was now quite humble. "How much did you pay for that land, Mr. Lawrence?"
"Heh. Just 500 million dollars," Frank said, holding up his fingers.
"Five hundred million? It's that cheap?!" Marco did a double take, his eyes widening as he wheezed. "500 million dollars, times ten… That's five billion!"
"Tut, tut." Frank clicked his tongue audibly. "But someone had to calla piece of shit… so I'm in a bad mood now. Should I really give Lanecorp that land?" "I'm so sorry!" veiMarco was on his knees right then sweating all over his face as he cried, "was ignorant and self-important! Please sell that land to Lanecorp, Mr.
Lawrence! Please!" After all, if the higher-ups knew that Marco was the one who upset Frank and allowed such a lucrative deal to slip through their fingers, he would be fired! And as nothing was more horrific than losing one's job while middle-aged, Marco truly caround right then. Sinecure? More like a bigwig no one should ever mess with! He might be the head of Lanecorp's health and security department, but he wielded true authority and ability! That changed everything! "That's enough, Frank." Helen intervened with perfect timing, gesturing for Marco to get on his feet while leveling an exasperated look at Frank. "You can stop messing with Mr. Hinds now-he's famous in the company for being impartial, and he must be criticizing you because he saw you goofing off too much." "No, no, no… Ms. Lane, I definitely insulted Mr. Lawrence here, not knowing that he's a man of excellence." Marco flashed an awkward smile as he kept apologizing to Frank.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1223-Marco had certainly seen through everything.
The fact that Frank could access insider information from Zamri City Hall and buy that land ahead of tmeant he was someone special.
While Marco finally acknowledged Frank's abilities, Frank chuckled and clapped him on the shoulder. "Alright, alright, I was just messing with you. Your board chairwoman is my wife anyway-my land is basically hers, see?" "Aha…
Hahaha… Of course…" Marco laughed along awkwardly.
By the tFrank and Helen left, his eyes showed profound respect for Frank as he realized Frank was no freeloader.
Still, it made sense-would Helen really fall for sgood-for-nothing? Waving away the other employees who had gathered around him to watch, he barked, "What are you looking at?! Well, now you know better than to complain about Mr.
Lawrence not deserving Ms. Lane during your lunchtgossip!" "Oh, I didn't expect that… Mr. Lawrence is actually that amazing!" "I guess it's only right, since I don't think Ms. Lane would just choose saverage Joe." Even as the voices of disapproval subsided, no one in Lanecorp ever doubted Frank again.
At the restaurant a block away, Helen was staring fixedly at Frank, giving him the creeps. Smiling, he said, "What's with that look? Just say what's on your mind already." "A-Are you really giving away that land to Lanecorp?" Was that it? Frank smiled in wry amusement, since Helen had been staring at him since they left the office.
He actually thought for a moment that Winter Lawrence had ratted him out and felt his conscience gnawing.
Seeing that it was about that plot of land, ne however, he patted his cheste? .
"Of course! What's mine M is you can have it!" S "But…" Helen murmured, lowering her head as she blushed, "I called you stupid and whatnot and tried to talk you out of it…" "Don't worry about it." Frank chuckled, shrugging innocently.
"It's fate that the land fell into my hands. I asked your mom repeatedly, but she refused to take it. Can't refuse money falling out of the sky, can I?" "Oh, you…"
Amused, Helen's lips curled into a bright smile, shaking her head.
That was when two desk jockeys strode through the front door.
They immediately saw Helen beaming, and their eyes were glued to her.
"Oof!" "Ow!" Both of them slammed into a table since they were top busy admiring Helen& smile and dropped to the floor right then.
"I mean-eh?" Before Frank could finish, both his and Helen's phone rang at the stime.
• MaX "Heh…" Frank shook his head and snickered as he watched. "Ms.
Lane, you beauty. is o devastating thatin think you should stay hfrom now on." "What are you saying?"
Helen pouted.Helen had a call from her secretary Lily, while one of Frank' security"team leaders called him.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1224-"Hello… What?! Come again?!"
Helen and Frank both answered their calls at the same time, and their reactions were also identical.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Lawrence, but there's this group who came to the lobby and made a scene, refusing to leave. They claim you and Ms. Lane stole their land!"
"I'm sorry, Ms. Lane… But your mother, brother and cousin are here. I'm keeping them at bay, but they keep demanding something about returning their land?"
The reports they received were basically the same, and both of them were gloomy when they realized that it was Gina.
The fact that Gina chose to come now made her goal very clear-she found out that the value of that land lot she sold had skyrocketed.
"How could she…"
Helen actually wanted to say out loud how Gina had the cheek to mention that land lot, but remembered that it was her mother. Her face flushed right then, and she was speechless even as she quaked with rage.
"It's alright, just calm down. We're heading back right now!" Frank said as he hung up and pulled Helen along.
"Hey! Your orders!" a waitress shouted at them.
"Oh, just give it to the two gentlemen over there. I've already paid," Helen said brusquely.
Even before the two desk jockeys could say a thing, the waitress put down the pasta in front of them.
"Compliments from the beautiful lady just now," she said exasperatedly.
Both desk jockeys were left gaping and immediately fantasizing.
"She's buying us food?"
"Does that mean she's in love with me?"
"Tch…" The waitress who saw everything rolled her eyes, clicked her tongue, and turned to leave.
To no surprise, when Frank and Helen returned to Lanecorp, they found Gina sitting on the floor, making a scene.
Helen knew this could happen but could not help feeling a migraine and a stifling sensation in her chest when she actually saw it.
She almost choked and blacked out, but Frank caught her quickly even as she wobbled and infused a gentle sliver of pure vigor into her back.
It calmed and stilled Helen's spirits so that she did not lose composure right then.
Meanwhile, business partners and Lanecorp employees were flocking around Gina at the lobby.
Some were sneering and shaking their heads, while others were juset watching keenly to see how things would develop, as if it was not a huge mess already.
"You need to leave right now, Frank,"
Helen told Frank after quickly doing the math. "They wilk definitely o m demand that land lot from you if you show up. I know you're not bothered, but we've been tolerating them enough times to see that they
never be satisfied. As one as you're not around, I can use that as an excuse to tell them to leave."
"Okay." Frank frowned.
He was going to suggest letting Gina nave that land lot, but ag sood 11' naticed that Cindy and Peter were in the crowd around Gina too.
He therefore gave up on that idea-even if he was willing to give
up the land lot for nothing, he still would not sell it to Peter as he m rememberedVow Peter had mocked him over the phone just recently.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1225-Gina was sitting on the floor, lying through her teeth without end. "Oh, the injustice! Not only did my daughter refuse to help me after I raised her, but she even forced me to give up my land!" "That's right! She's now the board chairwoman of a major company, but she completely abandoned family now that she's made it! She even collaborated with people outside the family to beat up her own mother!"
Peter joined in brazenly as well, pointing at the bandages on Gina's head.
It was Zomber Group's bodyguards who actually hurt Gina, and Peter himself was the one who told them to do it. He clearly was doing anything he could just to get that land back, even if it meant pinning the blame on Frank and Helen!
"Come and see! This is what Ms. Lane the girlboss and her boyfriend did!"
Cindy was shouting as well. "How despicable! Liars, both of them! Buying land from Gene Pearce?! Lies, all of it!"
Obviously, Cindy still bore a grudge over Helen firing here.
It was lunch hour, and many Lanecorp employees were passing through. As such, a large group of people gathered around Gina, Cindy, and Peter in no time at all.
Initially, Gina, Cindy, and Peter tried to barge into Helen's office directly, but security guards and Helen's secretary managed to stop them.
As such, they started to make a scene at the lobby instead.
And their one-sided ramblings left the Lanecorp employees all wondering if their new boss could really be really such a subhuman piece of shit?
Abandoning family and even working with someone outside the family to steal land from her own mother… It certainly stoked the mob's righteous indignation!
It never crossed their mind that it could be slander, since no mother would lie about their own daughter, no? That was just ridiculous.
Still, one of the Lanecorp employees was frowning. "Ms. Lane isn't like that, is she?"
He wanted to garner support from those around him, since he had witnessed firsthand that Helen treated her employees well, even she was stiff and stern when it came to work. She certainly did not appear as despicable as Gina, Cindy, and Peter were making her look.
However, the other employee beside him already picked the other side "Hah!
What would you know? You never know a person's true nature, and the way I see it, she's definitely a rotten apple."
"She must have done a lot of unseemly things on her way to become board chairwoman too."
"You're kidding. She's shown that she's plenty capable…"
"That's just it. Most people as capable as her are those heartless businessmen types."
"I just think…"
"You're thinking her good looks make everything right?"
"People say the more beautiful a woman is, the worse they are!"
"That's not what I mean-"
"There, just look. Her own mother came demanding justice out of m desperation Just think-would a mother slander her own daughter?"
"That's true…"
Soon, the voices of disapproval toward Helen took over.
None of the employees knew the truth and were simply going with the notion that a mother, guld not m slandenkendaughter. They presumed that Gina was telling the truth, while their outwardly kind girlboss chairwoman was actually vife and cunning.
Even as the voices got louder, Gina actually felt terrible.
But since she had started it, she would see it to the end!. There was nathing to fear since she had burned bridges anyway!
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1226-Even as Gina thought to herself that anything could wait until after she took back her land, someone shouted, "Shush, be quiet! Ms. Lane is back!" "Heh.
Pretentious as always."
"She calls herself a daughter? I would have quit already if this job didn't pay well."
"Talk about moral degradation."
"I'd disown her if she were my daughter!"
On the other hand, Helen's stilettos clicked as she strode in, with her secretary Lily rushing to her with a pained look. "I tried to stop them, Ms. Lane, but…"
Helen understood-Lily and the security guards could not use force since Gina, Cindy, and Peter were her family, and they could only allow the trio free rein.
"Don't worry. Just leave this to me." Helen clapped Lily on the shoulder, nodding at the security guards before making her way through the crowd.
Even as she did, she could hear the words her own employees were saying, and her blood pressure shot up.
Gina and Cindy's money over the years all came from her, and yet Gina willingly led a witch hunt against her, not caring that she was her own daughter.
"Mom! What are you doing?!" she shouted as she stood, her knuckles clenched and her eyes welling up with tears.
Her rage was as real as her misery, or she would not be losing her composure with all her employees watching. "I… Uh…"
Seeing Helen's reaction, Gina's conscience ate at her.
However, Cindy strode up and stood between Gina and Helen, snapping coldly, "Don't think you can get away just by giving us your usual haughty attitude!
Return the land you ook from Aunt Gina, or we're not leaving!"
"That's right!"
tel Peter strode up and snapped in righteous indignation as well, "You've gone too far, sis! You lost the family fortune because you were hooking up with Frank, and you even forced Mom to give up her land and attacked her when she refused!"
Dramatically gesturing at the bloodied bandages on Gina's head, he shouted, "Where's the justice here?!"
Helen wheezed, closing her eyes-she did not faint from sheer agitation thanks to Frank's assistance, buther chest still bynt. When she opened her eyes again, she took a deep breath,, her eyes once again cold and unflappable. "Move aside, Peter," She strode up, ready to make Gina look her in the eye as she spoke.
However, Cindy and Peter were not about to afford her the chance-they quickly stepped between her and Gina, with Cindy bellowing, "What?
Are you going to threaten Aunt Gina in front of everyone now?!"
"That's right!" Peter shouted as well.
"Are you forgetting your roots just, because you've became the boss of albig|company? Mom brought you into this world-how could you be so ungrateful?!"
"Justice?!"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1227-Cindy and Peter's outburst left the Lanecorp employees pointing and gesturing at Helen.
"That's so true. Urgh, I never knew she's really like that."
"You don't really know a person, I guess!"
"Whatever. I'm resigning later-it's embarrassing to work for someone like her."
"Yeah. I'd be too ashamed to face anyone once news spreads."
"I'm writing my letter right now."
"Me too."
Helen could certainly hear their vocal scorn and disapproval. She suddenly yelled, "Gina Zonda!"
Gina actually flinched, while the Lanecorp employees were stunned as Helen cried, "What have I done to you?! Why do you have to do this to me?!"
She then pointed between Peter and Cindy, shouting, "Who planned this? I've been working so hard for years, and you've been living like kings thanks to that!
Why do you have to keep putting me and Frank through so much crap?!"
Though Helen was biting her lip and her expression appeared almost impassive, tears were gushing down her cheeks. "I've finally gotten where I am today, and you have to do this to me?!
Unable to stop her flood of emotions, she hid her face as she sobbed. "I'm your daughter! Are you being fair to me?! Ask your own conscience and tell me! You're my mother… How could you do the net me? Money, the manor's O renovations, and furnishings… I gave you everything you asked for! How could you do this to me?!"
Helen's heart-wrenching tears left Gina stumped-she did not expect that she would hurt Helen so much, just as she never thought her daughter would get so disappointed in her.
Before she could speak, however, Peter strode up and pointed at Helen as he bellowed, "Really, sis?! Trying to trick so many people with your tears?! You're just afraid we'd hurt your reputation in the end!"
He could see that Gina was giving up on the land, and it would be game over for him if she did.
As such, he turned to the Lanecorp employees. "You should all just think about it woyld welhave come here demanding justice if we weren't desperate?!"
His grandstanding quickly rallied the Lanecorp employees once more, and now, Helen's tears merely looked like an act.
One of them even murmured, "Yeah… What mother would slander her own daughter anyway?"
"Well said, brother!" Peter exclaimed and walked up to Gina, taking offher bandages. "Now take a good look everyone! See what Helen's people did to my mom!"
All the Lanecorp employees gasped on the spot-they could all see the gruesome bruise on Gina's head, clearly left by a bludgeoning.
While there was a chance that this might have been slander before, it was not possible now with that gaping wound as proof.
And the criminal was undoubtedly Helen, while her mother only came demanding justice out of desperation.
"Ms. Lane… or perhaps I should call you only Helen now." Al employee named Robstrode up, glaring at her coldly as he took oft his employee ID.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1228-Bob snorted. "I really thought you were a strong, independent woman and admired you. I didn't think you were that despicable!"
"Exactly. Beating up your own mother with someone outside your own family?!
You're worse than an animal!"
"No you're worse than Kallum Gaetz!"
"Hah! I refuse to let myself be lumped together with the likes of you. People would think that we're the same if they find out that I work for an ingrate like you!"
"I quit!"
"Me too!"
"What future is there working for someone so heinous?!"
Other more excitable employees strode up and took off their employee IDs like Bob did, distancing themselves from Lanecorp right then.
To make things worse, Lily, Helen's secretary, ran up to Helen. "Ms. Lane, the board is calling for an emergency meeting…"
The purpose of said meeting was simply obvious-the board was ready to vote her out.
"No, listen to me. That's not it…" Helen argued feebly, but she was alone.
What strength did she have to stand against the angry mob? She could well be shouting futilely in the wind.
Nearby, Cindy was giggling smugly under her breath. "That's for messing with me, Helen!"
After all, Helen ended up far worse than she thought-she had only intended to force Helen to give up, that land without a fight. Getting payback for what happened before as well only made it all the more cathartic!
That was when a glowering Marco strode up and barked, "Shut up, all of you!"
As the lobby turned silent, he continued, "How dare you insult Ms. Lane without caring to find out the truth!+ can vouch for Ms. Lane and Mr. Lawrence's characters-they are not what these three claim them to be!"
However, that only left the other employees scoffing.
"Come on, Mr. Hinds. Just tell us when you and that woman had a deal."
"Exactly. Or maybe it's that kind of a deal?"
"Hah! All the evidence is right here, and you'd still side with that demon. To think I thought you were just, Mr. Hinds! You're no different in the end!"
While the employees' insults left Marco fuming, he had to admit that he could not produce evidence.
And it would definitely be difficult to use his honor to bail out Helen….
"Forget it. Just give us the land, Helen, and we can let it slide!" Gina shouted at Helen just then, distancing herself from Peter because she had enough.
She actually did not want to see her daughter so miserably being ayed alive publicly and possibly losing her job.
"II can't." Helen did a double take but shook her head. "Frank ownsi?. M can't dedide for him."
"Well, where is he?!" Peter yelled, at once anxious
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1229-Peter was the most anxious person present. After all, if he could not get that plot of land back, he would be dead even if Helen was toppled and was left homeless."Frank is..." Helen was cut off even before she could cup with an excuse, as a thundering bellow resounded from the distance. "That's enough!" The towering man strode up to stand beside Helen, putting an arm around her shoulder while glaring at everyone else. Naturally, it was none other than Frank himself."You fools!" he snapped icily. "You can't even tell when you've been manipulated! Do you even know what really happened? Scorning and condemning your superior just because you were given a one-sided testimonythe way I see it, you're all trash! Lanecorp won't stop you if you want to leave!Go on, the door's right there!" While his stern words silence everyone in the lobby, there were naturally those who were defiant."Hah!" Bob snorted. "Our head of the health and security department is just as coercive and unreasonable as described. You called us trash and said we're manipulated?! Show us evidence to back up your claims!" "Exactly! They have evidence and testimony, and you think we'd believe just because you said so?""Frank Lawrence!" Peter strode up, but he saw Frank's murderous glare even as he pointed at Frank. His heart skipped a beat, and even his tone softened as he said, "Y-You should watch yourself! You'd better return that land to us soon... Or you'll see!" Frank actually wanted to laugh at Peter's threat, even as Helen leaned against Frank."I told you to leave... Why did you cback?" she asked accusingly as her eyes welled up with tears.Frank chuckled and patted her head."Oh, silly. You'd be eaten alive if I didn't. Also..." He looked around as more Lanecorp employees gathered around them, and he growled icily, "I'll make them pay for insulting my woman!" "Calm down!" Helen flinched, presuming that Frank was about to get physical. She did not want to impose a dictatorship in Lanecorp-her employees were simply manipulated by Gina, Cindy, and Peter.
in a way, they were on the side of justice but simply manipulated m against her?

The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1230-"And right now, I disown Helen. I won't ever ask either of you for anything from now on! You're both pigs who deserve to be conned! Now, fuck off!" The recording ended there, and the room was silent as Frank slowly returned his phone into his pocket.
At the stime, every Lanecorp employee was scowling awkwardly or in guilt.
The voice recording made it evident enough that Gina had been lying to them.
She claimed that Frank and Helen were working together to steal that land from her. However, the recording proved that she had sold it to Frank, while treating him like a sucker and subjecting him to every form of ridicule.
Frank, however, remained calm and reasonable, only for Gina to snap at him, calling him and her own daughter pigs.
And the evidence was solid-the recording remained proof no matter how much anyone would argue against it. With a thud, Bob was on his knees right then, his lips shuddering as he turned toward Helen. "Ms. Lane, we…" "It's alright, I understand-you mean no harm. You've just been manipulated." Helen smiled despite her tears.
It was like a ray of sunshine after the rain-every Lanecorp employee felt both guilt and warmth at once. They had been way out of line, but their boss forgave them anyway.
Talk about magnanimity! And once they were done apologizing to Helen, the hundred over employees of Lanecorp trained their hostile glares at Gina, Cindy, and Peter.
"You gave us all that crap, but you were slandering Ms. Lane all along!" Marco pointed at Gina's nose as he snapped, "You're her mother, and you'd stoop that low?! Ruining your daughter's future?! Don't you feel shame?!" Content belongs to Św"You're animals! All of you!" "That's right! Ms. Lane and Mr. Lawrence treated you well, and how did you treat them in return?!" "They both had to suffer your ridicule. Forget scoffing at your own son-in-law for being a suckeryou called him and your own daughter pigs?!" "And you call yourself a mother?!"
The angry shouts were all stakes that stabbed deep into Gina's heart, and she buried her face in her palms, unable to look anyone in the eye.
She had never expected Frank to record everything she said in that call and pick this tto reveal it.
She literally could not face anyone else now! If people were convinced before that there wete no parents who would besmirch their children's honor, Gina had now shown them a whole new world.
And she was standing right there, manipulating their sense of righteousness. To call her veldespicable was putting it lightly-it was the behavior of actual animals.
was the behavior of actuat "Round them up! Punish them by the law!"
"Yes! Round them up!" Gina, Cindy, and Peter turned pale as the shouts for their arrest resounded deafeningly.
et Still, seeing that things were really bad, Cindy quickly switched sides?
and tried to bailberself out. "They planhed all of this! I have nothing to do with it!"
