Ch. 1361..1370
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1361-Frank and Lanecorp kept a low profile as they waited out the storm.
As two months passed, Zamri more or less calmed down as the spiritron vein left the city, evident from the lack of martial elites being admitted to Zamri Hospital. Still, the spiritron vein was not Frank's concern-instead, it was Silverbell.
She was the chief of the Martial Alliance, individually powerful and with plenty of martial artists under her command.
And yet, Frank was worried as he heard that the spiritron vein was no longer in the Martial Alliance's possession.
Even as the thought bugged him, Frank eventually got a call from Fenton-Silverbell's father-one afternoon.
"Master Frank." Fenton spoke calmly as usual, but Frank was sharp enough to notice a hint of worry.
"Tell me," Frank replied, much calmer and a lot less angsty.
After all, he had truly learned that there were people much stronger than him all over Draconia.
"Silverbell and I lost touch, and it's been a week. Have you been in touch with her? She was last seen with the Favonis in Norsedam."
Fenton's information surprised Frank. "The Favonis?"
"Yes."
Fenton sighed. "The Favonis answer to the Martial Alliance. With Silverbell keeping them in line, they never made a move against you after you dealt against Jaden Favoni." "Didn't I clear my name already? It was the Bearsons who—"
"Master Frank," Fenton stopped him, his tone stern. "Not everything is black and white for clans of martial artists. What they value above all is reputation-do you understand that?"
"I-I do…"
Frank sighed. "Alright, I'll visit the Favonis right now."
He naturally understood that Fenton called him because he wanted someone he could trust to go looking for Silverbell.
She was his only daughter, and he would never wish for harm to come to her.
"Master Frank."
Instead of thanking Frank, Fenton for a moment and "Everything Silverbell does is "I know."
Frank paused and nodded firmly.
As he hung up, Carol called out as she laid out the dishes, "Dinner's ready!"
She and Nash had moved to Frank's mansion in Zamri, Cologne Court.
It was more spacious here than the Skywater Bay hilltop mansion, was roomy even with plenty people staying there. Context "I'm skipping dinner, Madam Zims," Frank told her as he put on his coat. "I have an errand to run." "Oh, what's the hurry? You can go after dinner!" Carol rebuked him, as if she was Frank's mother.
Life had changed for her and Nash ever since Frank saved them and moved them to Zamri.
Helen had rented a stall in Lanecorp Tower's cafeteria, selling meals for five dollars without charging profit.
The food was good too, and Helen, Vicky, and everyone else often bought from them.
As Lanecorp staff were widely praising them, Nash and Carol earned everyone's respect-there were even staff from other companies who sneaked over.net have their lunch in the Lanecorp cafeteria.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1362-Carol was definitely content with life-her daughter was now the chief of Zamri Hospital, her son was safe abroad, and she found herself a new partner despite being well advanced in years. Nash was content just like Carol, though he only had one cause to worry in his untameable daughter Kat.
At the moment, she was staying in Riverton with Noel York and was involved in the production of a film.
While Nash would complain that it was not a stable job, he would be grinning ear-to-ear even as he said that.
Naturally, both him and Carol had Frank to thank for all of that. From a certain point of view, he was now their adopted son.
"Yeah, where do you have to go this late at night, Frank?" Nash asked as he brought kitchen utensils.
"Hehe… Just a small trip to Norsedam," Frank did not provide details to spare them from worrying.
Still, just as he was about to leave, he ran headlong into Helen and an exhausted Vicky, the latter who immediately complained, "I can't do this darling. Helen's such a workaholic… I can't work with her anymore…"
"That's because you're slacking off."
It was the same complaint every day, so Helen kept a straight face and left to wash her hands for dinner.
"Haha…"
Frank smiled in wry amusement, but one would expect nothing less from a girlboss like Helen.
Not only was she terrifyingly efficient, but she also demanded perfection. In fact, she would not be coming home if Cologne Court was not so close to Lanecorp Tower.
"Help me, darling!" Vicky cried as she threw herself miserably into Frank's arms. "You're not just going to watch while that cow works me like a slave, are you?"
"Cow…?!"
Helen was stumped and shot Frank a sharp look right then.
"Uh…"
Frank trailed off and clapped Vicky on the back as he said awkwardly "Being busy is normal now that Lanecorp is gaining mo You'll only be busy for a white…
"That's what you said last week!" Vicky pouted as she looked up at him. "No, I want a kiss! I quit otherwise! I wouldn't have the strength to go on!"
Watching as Vicky threw a tantrum like a little girl, Frank sighed exasperatedly and brushed his net gently against Vicky's forehead as Helen looked on.
While Vicky rubbed her forehead, clearly dissatisfied, Helen came over and dragged her to the dining table. "That's enough. The food will furn cold soon, and Madam Zims had to work for this."
"I'm going out now, I have something to do." Frank promptly seized the moment to make his escape. Helen did a double take but soon gave chase, shouting, "Frank!"
"Hmm?"
Frank stopped and turned in surprise toward Helen. "What's wrong? Was there something else?"
"…"
Helen blushed, her eyes darting everywhere as she rubbed her hands and breathed meekly, "I-I'm actually feeling tired too…"
"Oh. Well, you've done good work," Frank assured her, nodding blankly.
Helen did a double take, embarrassment and annoyance showing on her face at once.
Was he doing this on purpose? Did he not catch her hint?
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1363-After fidgeting restlessly for a while, Helen finally looked up at Frank, her cheeks flushed as she stammered, "D-Darling… I want what Vicky had, too…"
"Hahaha! I knew it!"
Vicky exclaimed as she suddenly appeared behind Helen, grinning gleefully as she folded her arms before her chest. "Just spit it out already. Don't you feel embarrassed, fidgeting about at your age, Ms. Lane?"
"You stay out of this!" Helen wheeled on Vicky and snapped.
When Helen turned, she saw that Frank was in front of her, leaning down to give her a warm kiss on the forehead.
As she reached up blankly to touch her forehead, she looked up to see Frank's smile.
Flushing in embarrassment, she turned and left, snorting. "Alright, that's enough already! It's time for dinner!"
Even as she chased a giggling Vicky inside, Vicky turned to look at Frank. "Come home soon."
"Yeah." Frank nodded, smiling.
Later, even as Helen picked up a bowl on the table, she stared blankly at the dishes around the table as she heard a car engine igniting outside. "Should I be more… proactive next time?' At Favoni House in Norsedam, one of the family's sentries rushed into a traditionally decorated courtyard, where a graying middle-aged man was meditating.
He was none other than Chet Favoni, the head of the Favoni family who progressed well into Ascendant rank.
Dropping to one knee, the Favoni sentry reported, "Sir, I don't think your son is going to make it."
Even as Chet slowly opened his eyes, his eyes flickering in indescribable pain, another Favoni sentry rushed inside. Dropping to one knee as well, he reported, "Sir, your second brother has returned and is asking to see you."
A loud ruckus could be heard outside even before Chet could respond.
"Sir, you can't go in! Master Favoni is training in seclusion-no one is allowed in!"
"We'd be punished if you do! Please!"
Chet could certainly hear the pleas and understood what was happening.
He waved off the two Favoni sentries, dismissing them just as et another burly man with a Van Dyke beard stormed in through the doorway.
As soon as he got in, he wheeled on the Favoni sentries and bellowed, "Out!"
The Favoni sentries were immediately deflated and turned toward Chet with a pleading look.
Chet, however, knew his second brother Edon Favoni all too well.
He did not blame the Favoni sentries and waved them off too.
As they ran away as if saved, Edon bellowed at Chet accusingly, "What do you think you are doing, brother?!"
"What are you talking about?" Chet asked calmly, looking up.
"Quit playing senile with me!"
Edon growled as he planted himself opposite Chet. "I've heard all about it-Jaden was poisoned in a duel and carried back miserably, his fate unknown!" én.swnovels.net "That's because he came up short," Chet replied, shaking his head. Edon did a double take-he did not expect that from his own brother.
After all, Chet used to prioritize the family's did he become such a coward?!
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1364-Edon was ready to point at Chet's nose and snap, but he froze as his brother calmly said, "The chief of the Martial Alliance is here in our residence."
"What? The chief of the Martial Alliance?! You mean…"
"Yeah." Chet nodded somberly, looking at his brother's shocked reaction before adding, "She has been maimed, her cultivation almost lost."
"Then, the spiritron vein…"
"She doesn't have it," Chet replied.
As disappointment showed on Edon's face, Chet continued calmly, "I know what you're thinking-in fact, I was thinking it when I received her. However, she gave it up before she arrived, and the Martial Alliance lost over a hundred martial artists in the battle. There was no shortage of Ascendant ranks, and only she managed to escape, barely alive."
Sighing somberly, Chet concluded, "For me, it's clear from this that the spiritron vein is too important for our family to even touch. Too much greed really consumes you."
Edon lowered his head, clearly doing the math.
When he looked up again, he asked quietly, "What about Jaden? How is he?"
Chet shook his head. "Troy Bearson really did a number on him. No healer in Norsedam could do anything about the poison-we're basically throwing every natural wonder together to brew elixirs just to keep him alive. He's really faring no better than the chief of the Martial Alliance."
Edon was left silent again, and after some thought, he looked up with a frown. "Well, you can't let this go on for Jaden's sake. You should contact Lubor-ask him to get help from Hundred Bane Sect!"
"I already did," Chet chuckled bitterly, shaking his head. "Lubor in turn relayed a message from them they would send their people over to save Jaden, but on two conditions."
Edon did a double take. "What are they?"
"First, our entire family will hence be a vassal of Hundred Bane Sect, with every member taking their Blood Centipede Pills."
"As for the second… We will secretly hand over the chief of the Martial Alliance to them."
"Fuck!" Edon smacked himself on the lap. "They're out of line!"
Chet remained impassive. "That's true, but Hundred Bane Sect made it very clear that the Soulbleeder is one of their finest poisons, and a novelty no one will be able to neutralize. It also spreads through pure vigor, infecting and killing anyone who tries to use pure vigor to move the molecules."
"That's outrageous!" Edon cried, but he smacked himself on the lap as he came to a realization. "Shit, I get it now! There's no way the Sons of Zamri could have bought such a poison… Hundred Bane Sect had it in for us in the first place!"
"Hmph. Even an idiot could tell that much." Chet sneered.
"Well, what should we do?" Edon felt a migraine at the thought. "I refuse to put bugs in my own body!"
"There's nothing we can do," Chet replied, shaking his head. "Like I said… All we can do is blame Jaden for coming up short and playing into the hands of those villains."
"Shit!" Edon leapt to his feet, pacing around as he huffed in rage and annoyance. "Are we supposed to just watch as Jaden dies so miserably?!"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1365-"Jaden is second in Skyrank!" Edon exclaimed anxiously at Chet. "And he's your son! Just think about it—if the boy grows further, we won't just become one of the strongest dynasties on the East Coast… We might even establish ourselves in Morhen!"
"I know." Chet sighed, leveling a cool stare at his brother. "But who aside from Hundred Bane Sect can save Jaden now? However, if we agreed to their demands, our family's cultivation and hard work that spanned over a hundred years would be for naught.
"Unlike the Martial Alliance, Hundred Bane Sect would have complete control over our family. Where the Martial Alliance is a loose organization, we would be reduced to their lab rats. Even if you were in my shoes, would you be able to sacrifice so many of us for Jaden's sake?"
"That's true, but…"
Edon wanted to argue but scowled as he had no retort and sat down again.
"Hehe… Chet, Edon."
Just then, a pale man wearing glasses and a white suit entered.
Edon was immediately glaring at him. "You have the cheek to come back, Lubor?!"
"Now you're just being mean, Edon." Lubor Favoni smiled. "Why wouldn't I come back? This is Favoni House, and it's my home too."
"What do you want, Lubor? Out with it already," Chet said, his expression cold even though he was not snapping at Lubor like Edon.
"Brother." Lubor nodded politely at him and smiled. "I've come back bringing good news."
"What good news would you bring?" Edon snorted, sarcastic.
"Tell us." Chet waved, stopping Edon and gesturing for Lubor to continue.
"Oh, it's simply wonderful…"
Lubor smiled faintly. "Jaden is my nephew and my dear brother's son, which is why I sympathize despite my allegiance to Hundred Bane Sect. That's why I asked the elders for help to save him… and I managed to convince them.
"Now, they only ask for one thing-just hand over the chief of the Martial Alliance to them, and they won't demand our family to take the Blood Centipede Pills or serve them as a vassal. I think it's basically a luxury, don't you agree?"
"What?"
Edon did a double take but remained skeptical. "Did you grow a conscience or something?"
"Hehe…"
Lubor chuckled. "Come on, Edon-I'm family too. How could I do nothing while my nephew is in danger?"
Chet remained silent as they watched the exchange between his brothers.
Chet was the strongest, which was why he was the head of the family.
Edon was just slightly weaker in Con and was in charge loret businesses and other administrative affairs.
As for Lubor, their third brother, he left years ago to join Hundred Bane Sect.
He persistently yearned to topple Chet, as he was always dissatisfied with his eldest brother and wanted to usurp him.
He worked very hard for it too, even getting Hundred Bane Sect involved.
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1366-That was why Edon despised Lubor.
Moreover, if Lubor took over, their family would completely fall under the control of Hundred Bane Sect and be reduced to lab rats.
That was why Chet never let down his guard despite Lubor seemingly compromising.
"Chet, why don't we just take them up on their offer?"
Edon turned toward his eldest brother anxiously. "As long as we're not reduced to vassals of Hundred Bane Sect, anything else can wait after they cure Jaden." "You're being naive."
Chet shook his head, smirking at Edon. "Do you really think Lubor is sincere about helping us? Just think about it-what would the Martial Alliance do if they found out we handed their chief over to Hundred Bane Sect?"
"Oh!"
Edon smacked himself on the lap for the umpteenth time and wheeled on Lubor furiously. "I knew you were up to no good!"
"Now, now. You've got it all wrong." Lubor smiled, shaking his head. "The elders of Hundred Bane Sect have spoken. The chief of the Martial Alliance is actually loyal to the Lord of the Southern Woods, and he's ready to cut her loose after she failed to obtain the spiritron vein.
"In other words, you lose nothing even if you hand her over to me, and it goes without saying that we're not going to tell anyone about this. It's no loss to the Martial Alliance anyway, so they won't come to bother you."
Chet frowned. "Really?"
"Of course I won't lie to you."
Lubor smiled. "It's a win-win for the family, earning a favor from Hundred Bane Sect while getting Jaden cured."
Still, Chet pressed, "And what do you want the chief of the Martial Alliance for?"
"Oh, there are plenty of reasons! Let's just say that Hundred Bane Sect won't make a deal unless there's something in it for them."
Lubor laughed. "For example, she started her training as a child, and her body is honed to perfection-it' be the perfect breeding ground for various toxic scarabs. And she has intimate details about the Lord of the Southern Woods..."
Chet was left thoughtful.
He knew that his family would be held responsible if they gave the chief of the Martial Alliance over to Hundred Bane Sect.
However, Hundred Bane Sect was
not stupid enough to tell everyoneet
that, and none would be the
as long as they kept quiet.
Who knew? When Jaden recovered, he might even become the next chief of the Martial Alliance.
With that in mind, the Favonis would lose nothing while gaining everything.
It was a win for everyone save for the chief of the Martial Alliance, who was barely alive now.
But now was not the time for compassion.
Chet was just about to say yes when a servant came rushing in, crying panickedly, "Master Favoni... We have a visitor!"
Chet was left frowning. "What? That's perfectly normal-why are you panicking?"
"Well, sir... It's that man from Zamri who dueled Master Jaden!"
Edon flew into a rage right then. "What is he doing here?! Did he come here to mock us?!"
"Wait!"
Seeing that Edon was ready to go after Frank, Chet stopped him, his expression shocked in realization. "Wasn't he poisoned too when he fought Jaden? Why is he stilDalive, even coming to pay us a visit?"
Edon did a double take in realization as well—his brother was right! Why did he not think of that?!
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1367-It was very late into the night Frank arrived at Favoni House in Norsedam.
He actually found the ancient furnishings around the residence curious as a servant led him inside.
The Favonis really were a martial arts clan, with everything from the architecture, gardens, to fountains decorated in traditional styles.
He was brought to a drawing room and served a glass of expensive tea.
Frank did not expect such a polite gesture-he even thought the Favonis would want revenge.
Nonetheless, he soon found a familiar face.
It was Stella Favoni, wearing form-fitting training robes and appearing shocked to see him there. "It really is you… W-What are you doing here? Wait, don't tell me…" Stella's face paled as she thought Frank came for revenge.
Even from her perspective, Frank was the one who was attacked for no reason at Lanecorp, slandered by her family and the Bearsons before being coerced into that duel. They had insulted Frank profoundly, and it was only natural for him to come for revenge now.
Seeing that Stella was anxious, Frank lowered his teacup and shook his head, smiling. "I'm not here for revenge-I'm not that petty."
"No?" Stella blinked and pressed, "Then, you came because…"
"I'm searching for someone."
"Searching for someone?"
"Yes." Frank nodded and said quietly, "I'm looking for the chief of the Martial Alliance. I'm hoping that someone here would know."
"The chief of the Martial Alliance?!"
Stella's gaze flickered even as she heard the title and she quickly said, "I-I wouldn't know, so you should ask my father. He's already been ove notified, and he will be here soon."
Her flustered reaction naturally did not escape Frank's notice. However, he simply made a mental note, nodding quietly and refrained from pressing her.
He just had to wait and see what her father had to say.
Soon, the man in question arrived in dramatic fashion.
Chet strode toward Frank, flanked by his servants and the Favoni martial artists.
He had a stoic expression and the air of a man who made difficult decisions-clearly the head of the family whom Stella mentioned.
On his left was Edon, who had a strut in his gait and was already glaring at Frank hostilely.
On his right was a pale, bespectacled man in a white suit. He was the youngest of the three brothers, but his eyes were like.
vipers, and he was constantly, sneering, as if he did that all the QUMS time.
"I've been looking forward to meeting you, Mr. Favoni." Frank stood up, nodding at Chet.
Formalities were necessary, even before he decided if Chet was friend or foe.
Seeing that Frank was being polite, Chet nodded in turn, his expression calm but stern. "To what do we owe the pleasure, Mr. Lawrence?"
"I won't call it pleasure." Frank smiled as he sat down. "I've merely been asked to find the chief of the Martial Alliance."
"What?"
Chet did a double take and glanced at Lubor in reflex-which Frank immediately noted and asked, "Would you happen to have a clue, Mr. Favoni?"
Chet did not directly answer Frank's question, instead asking quietly, "May I ask who's asked you, and why you're looking for the chief of the Martial Alliance?"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1368-Chet did not directly answer Frank's question, instead asking quietly, "May I ask who's asked you and why you're looking for the chief of the Martial Alliance?" He simply answered a question with another question, passing the buck back to Frank.
"It's her father's asking, and as for why…"
Frank paused, quickly smiling as he came up with an idea. "She and I were engaged as children, and I'm fulfilling that promise."
"What?"
Chet did a double take, narrowing his eyes in thought.
The chief of the Martial Alliance was engaged?! He had no idea… No, no one in the Martial Alliance even mentioned anything about that!
Was Frank bullshitting?!
For Frank's part, he needed a reasonable excuse for his search for the chief of the Martial Alliance, or he would look like he had no business getting involved.
Still, he had one-even if Silverbell was the chief of the Martial Alliance, was there a problem with him looking for his own fiancee?
Naturally, the engagement was bullshit, though Frank could argue it was an innocent vow he and Silverbell made while they were children, and it did not count. However, he mentioned it righteously now just to shut these people up.
If they wanted proof, they would have to ask Silverbell herself, and Frank would naturally find her that way.
Chet was left at a loss by Frank's almost unscrupulous ploy.
However, he had already decided to hand over the chief of the Martial Alliance to Hundred Bane Sect, so he was not about to tell Frank she was right here in this residence. Shaking his head after some thought, he said, "I have no idea where she is."
"Really? You don't?"
Frank narrowed his eyes, noticing that the Favonis were behaving strangely… And everything seemed to revolve around the man in the white suit.
"Oh, quit it with the dilly-dallying!"
Edon had had enough right then, striding up impatiently and barking at Frank, "I have a question for you, brat!"
"Ask away." Frank smiled and nodded instead of getting standoffish.
"You fought Jaden, didn't you?" Edon demanded. "And the audience told me that you were poisoned too, just like him!"
Chet stood by, not stopping Edon since he was curious too.
"Indeed." Frank nodded.
"Then why are you standing here like you're perfectly fine, talking to us?" Edon asked impatiently.
Frank chuckled and shot back in amusement, "Why should I tell you?"
"Guh…" Edon was actually left stumped.
ret Frank simply shrugged. "The Bearsons poisoned Jaden, even if your boy insisted I did it. Shouldn't you be asking them instead of me? Or perhaps you think I did it?" en.swhovels.net "Shut up!"
Edon's cheeks flushed even as he neeks l.ne barked, "We've already interrogated the Bearsons, but they don't have the antidote! But you? You're standing here like it's none of your business! So tell us-what did you do?!"
Frank's expression cooled as Edon was basically forcing him to answer.
Looking around at everyone present, he asked icily, "So, you're threatening me?"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1369-"You can think of it that way!"
Edon dispensed with disguises right then, whipping out a gleaming machete from behind himself and thrusting it into the table before him.
Glaring at Frank, he barked, "You'd better tell the truth, or you're not leaving this house!"
"Pfft…" Lubor snickered even as the air in the room tensed.
"What are you laughing at?!" Edon snapped in annoyance.
He threatened Frank exactly because he did not want Lubor to win.
If they could save Jaden by doing whatever Frank did, they would not have to give up the chief of the Martial Alliance to Hundred Bane Sect.
They would not wrong the Martial Alliance and certainly would not give Hundred Bane Sect leverage against themselves.
However, if Edon thought of that, Lubor certainly could.
"Like I said, Edon, the Soulbleeder is a novelty of Hundred Bane Sect. No one can neutralize it aside from the elders of Hundred Bane Sect."
He scoffed, glancing at Frank in disdain. "Obviously, that brat is fine because he was never poisoned in the first place-he was just pretending to be poisoned in that duel."
"What…"
Edon was left scowling at Lubor's quip, but it made sense.
They had spent a fortune hiring every healer from Norsedam and the east coast to save Jaden. Even so, they could not fully cure him and could only keep him in a state of suspended animation with copious amounts of natural wonders, just to stop the poison from spreading.
What could Frank do anyway?
And with Lubor speaking against Frank, it meant that Frank was not a member of Hundred Bane Sect.
Considering that and realizing that he must have been getting overwrought with worry, Edon sighed exasperatedly and sheathed his machete.
"Heh…" Frank suddenly chuckled. "And whoever said I was pretending? The fact is I've not just been poisoned, but I was the one who neutralized the poison myself."
Everyone was left stunned by his bombshell, especially Lubor.
Still, Lubor soon came to his senses and clutched his stomach as he laughed. "You can really talk, brat! Someone like you, beating the Hundred Bane Sect's Soulbleeder? Try harder next time!"
Chet also shook his head and started to turn and leave. "Mr. Lawrence, we don't have any information on the chief of the Martial Alliance for you. Feel free to see yourself out."
He did not believe in Frank and dismissed everything he said as nonsense.
After all, who talked like that?
And if Frank really was poisoned, someone else had to have cured him.
Chet might even have believed Frank if he said someone amazing did it, but the fact that Frank said he did it himself made it clear it was all bullshit.
In his mind, Frank could study poison for a lifetime but still fail to counteract the poison, and that went without saying when he was this young.
While the elders of Hundred Bane е Sect had Chet's confidence, those were all geezers well advanced in years. And a youth was supposed to defeat their decades worth of refinement in their specialty? Who would ever believe that?
On the other hand, Frank was now dead sure from Chet's subtle reactions that he had information on Silverbell and did not want to tell him for some reason.
With that in mind, Frank chuckled. "Patience, Mr. Favoni. Why don't we make a deal?"
Chet stopped and turned to level a cool look at Frank. "A deal? What deal?"
The Girlboss Begs For Remarriage Chapter 1370-Frank puffed his chest confidently. "It's simple-I will cure Jaden, while you tell me where the chief of the Martial Alliance is. How about that?" "Pfft."
Lubor was laughing as soon as Frank finished, watching him in glee. "Mr. Lawrence, do you think we are as stupid as you are? Who would believe your bullshit? I've said many times-the Soulbleeder is a novelty Hundred Bane Sect created, and only our elders can stop it. Watch out, or you'd bite your tongue if you keep making shit up."
Frank remained calm despite Lubor's scorn, shaking his head as he said, "I can see that you are caught in a dilemma, Mr. Favoni. So how about this? Take me to your son, and you tell me where the chief of the Martial Alliance is if I succeed. If I don't, I will take responsibility… though I'd be infected too and die for my lies anyway. How about that?"
Chet paused at Frank's confident offer.
It was only natural that he did not want to hand over the chief of the Martial Alliance to Hundred Bane Sect. After all, that would just be handing over leverage against them.
Moreover, it was ideal for Chet if Frank really cured Jaden, as he would not be ruffling any feathers while his son was saved.
Frank's offer was therefore no loss to him, just as it would not be too late to take up Hundred Bane Sect's offer if Frank failed.
However, just as he turned toward Frank, a Favoni sentry rushed inside, delight all over his face as he dropped to one knee and reported, "Master Favoni! Abel Loggins of Morhen has arrived!" "What?! Able Loggins?!"
Chet appeared shocked, but delight soon showed on his face.
Abel was the most famous healer there is, and an authority of medicine in the East Coast-even the Four Families of Morhen went to him when one of theirs suffered some complicated condition.
"Hurry, bring him in!" Chet exclaimed as he hurried to the front door to receive Abel, Frank's offer being the last thing on his mind just then.
On the other hand, Frank was unmoved despite Abel's name being mentioned and was even smiling.
After all, Lubor was right that Abel would never cure the Soulbleeder, as it was one of Hundred Bane Sect's finest works.
If one had no idea what the poison contained and tried to counteract it recklessly, they would only get poisoned in turn.
That was why most people would refuse to get involved, and Frank knew that Abel would not succeed.
With that in mind, Frank followed the others, intending on seeing Abel and convincing him not to be reckless and get infected himself.
However, that was when two Favoni sentries drew their swords and stopped Frank.
"This is Favoni House, Mr. Lawrence. You don't get to go whatever you want!"
Frank remained calm as he looked between them, and smiled faintly, "I'm sure you heard that Abel Loggins is here, and there's no telling if he would actually save Jaden, whereas I'm confident.net can.
I'll just wait outside, and it's fine if Abel can cure Jaden-I won't press the issue if so. But if he fails, isn't it time I step up?"
While the two sentries hesitated from Frank's smile, Lubor turned toward Frank and sneered. "Let him through."
He certainly would like to see what Frank could do, when Frank claimed he could beat the poison that only the elders of Hundred Bane Sect could hope to stop!
