The Pinnacle of Life Chapter 1851
These people had come with actual, seemingly dangerous weapons. There were quite a few of them as well, thirty or so in total. Before anyone knew it, they had managed to crowd into the badly damaged meeting room.
Their leader, on the contrary, was a gentle middle-aged man in a suit and a pair of glasses. He didn’t seem to be the type to fight at all. Instead, his fair skin and brushed back hair made him look as if he had just come back from a classy cocktail party.
Nora huffed coldly as soon as she saw the man. “Well, aren’t you right on time, Kyle Jung? You came after everyone has died. Were you calculating when you should come to benefit the most out of this situation?”
This man with glasses was actually an official within America. Although he was born in a family trained in cultivation, his spiritual roots were weak, making it impossible for him to master any cultivation skills.
Up till now, he was a mere beginner, still stuck in the Chi Refinement stage. It meant he didn’t even fulfill the requirements to participate in the enrollment competition into the Flying Eagles Academy.
However, this man was interested in politics. Since the Jung family had been in America for years, their power was scattered across the entire country. Thus, they were somewhat involved in politics as well. Relying on his family’s help and his own skills, Kyle worked his way to becoming a senior police inspector before hitting his fifties.
Despite that, he was still a weakling in the eyes of the high-ranking commanders of the Flying Eagles.
Hence, even though Nora was of lower political status, she still portrayed a rather rude attitude towards him.
Kyle stole a glance at Nora and ignored her, turning to Jade instead. “Commander Benmore, are you alright?”
Jade was severely poisoned to the point she could barely open her eyes.
Leaning against Alex, she said, “Colton Lawrence is working with the Blood Cult to overthrow us, and he has been killed on the spot for treason. You guys can leave now, Inspector Jung. Everything’s under control.”
“So, what is the result of this meeting?” Kyle asked suddenly.
Nora was enraged. “Kyle Jung, are you brain dead? They only held this meeting because Colton set up a trap and lured us to the Myriad Demon Valley. Everyone here thought we died, so they had to convene this meeting. Now that my sister is right here, why would they need to come up with a new candidate? She is the only person who can be the commander in chief of the Flying Eagles.”
Kyle pushed up his glasses and smiled slyly. “But I heard that Commander Benmore is badly injured, and he can’t even defeat Colton now. Now, she’s weaker than the average person. I received orders from the higher-ups to ensure that a new candidate is chosen at this meeting. Obviously, Commander Benmore no longer suits this position.”
“Bullsh*t!” Nora fumed.
The other members of the Flying Eagles Squad were so furious that they, too, started yelling at Kyle.
Suddenly, the people Kyle had brought along lifted their guns and pointed them at the Flying Eagles.
Way larger in size and clearly way more powerful, these guns greatly differed from their average counterparts.
Eleanor spoke up. “Mr. Jung, isn’t this inappropriate, to be aiming guns at the heroes of the Flying Eagles?”
Kyle smiled. “I’m just taking precautions in case one of you is a traitor like Colton Lawrence. All of you should know how powerful the Flying Eagles are, right? If another commits treason, it won’ t end well. That’s why the Flying Eagles don’t need too much power. They just need to be absolutely loyal.”
Jade opened her eyes and asked, “Inspector Jung, you say that I’m not suitable to be the commander in chief. But could that be what you think, or has the parliament passed this suggestion?”
“The parliament wanted to appoint a new commander in chief,” Karl replied. He had twisted the truth slightly for his personal reasons.
The parliament only passed such a suggestion because they assumed Jade to be dead. Now that Jade was back, it should most definitely be reconsidered.
Jade let out a frosty chuckle and closed her eyes. “Fine, I agree.”
“No!” yelled each member of the Flying Eagles squad in unison.
Jade said, “I have been poisoned, and I don’t know how much time I have left. I really am not suitable for this position, nor do I have the strength to keep serving the Flying Eagles.”

She then flipped her hand over and revealed a token in her palm. It slid down to the floor, clanging noisily. “This is the token for the commander in chief, Inspector Jung. Please hand it to the parliament for me. Please take away my title as the Five-star Warlord. From now on, I, Jade Benmore, will no longer be involved in politics. I will also be wiping off everything that happened in the past. Let’s put this all behind us.”
“Let’s go, Alex!”
Alex was incredibly shocked as he watched the entire situation go down.
After staying at Flying Eagles Academy for a few days, he knew that Jade’s status in the academy was equivalent to a goddess, a being worshipped and admired by many. Yet, she was wounded now and had ended up like this.
‘This is simply excruciating!’
Since Jade couldn’t walk, Alex had to pick her up and carry her out of the room.
Kyle picked up the token from the ground and bowed. “Thank you for everything that you’ve done for America, Commander Benmore. I wish you the best in your future. I will still do everything I can to convince the higher-ups to preserve your title of Five-star Warlord.”
Now that Kyle got everything he wanted, he figured it wouldn’t hurt to be as generous as possible.
Jade shook her head. “There’s no need for that.”
Nora was so angry that she wanted to explode. She, too, threw a token to the ground as well, the token of the High-rank Warlord. “If my sister’s leaving, I’m leaving too! She might die from poison soon, and I’ve lost my power completely, so I won’t be able to serve the Flying Eagles any longer. Mr. Jung, Flying Eagles, is yours now.”
After saying this, she left the room immediately.
Clunk clunk clunk…
Just then, every member who escaped Myriad Demon Valley threw their tokens too, using the exact same reason as Nora, leaving the squad and retiring from service.
The corners of Kyle’s mouth twitched as he shouted, “For the sake of union and peace within the squad, do not spread the news about appointing a new commander! This is an order!”
Eleanor, the military counselor, then spoke up. “Everyone, for the sake of America, the Flying Eagles needs you. Can’t you stay?”
Nora’s voice came from outside of the room. “Elanor Curtis, you can stay if you want. But I’m only willing to follow my sister, not the Flying Eagles.”
After exiting the room, Jade said with the last few amounts of her strength, “You don’t have to follow us, Nora. The military counselor is right. Flying Eagles needs all of you. Without you all, they might not be able to handle what’s happening over at the ancient boundary.”
Nora replied. “Sis, can you not be this naive? Once the Flying Eagles end up in the hands of those corrupted politicians, do you think they’d let us do anything we want? They didn’t take the squad so that we can help defend the country from our enemies! They’re just worried that we’d be too powerful and overtake them someday.”
“If we don’t leave, who knows how else Jung is going to try and get rid of us? And honestly, I’d rather have Colton become the commander instead of having these bastards appoint one of their puppets!”
Knowing that this could be a possibility, Jade sighed and decided to stay silent.
Nora said, “Sis, how are you feeling? Hey Alex, aren’t you a legendary doctor? Give my sister a check-up then!”
“Let’s leave this place first. I have to prepare some stuff so let’s head to my place back in California!” replied Alex.
Nora asked, “How, though? We’ve all given you our powers, so we don’t have the strength to Feather Walk anymore.”
“Whitey!” Alex bellowed.
Whitey had been following Alex all this while, shrinking itself and hiding in his pockets. After being summoned, it immediately jumped out and turned into a ten meter tall cat.

“A demon beast?” One of the male members of Flying Eagles exclaimed when he saw Whitey turn big.
They had battled demon beasts almost every day over at the ancient boundary, and they had killed so many of these creatures that they lost count. Seeing just how powerful Whitey looked made all of the members of Flying Eagles tense up. If they didn’t lose all their power, they would’ve attacked it without hesitation.
Alex immediately reassured them. “Don’t worry. This is my ally.”
Nora was surprised. “Just how many tricks do you have up your sleeves, Alex? You’re exactly like Doraemon, you know? You keep giving us surprise after surprise. We’re about to lose our minds!”
Alex replied. “Nah, you know all of my secrets now.” He then continued, “Alright, everyone, get on. We can’t waste more time since my master’s condition is worsening. It’s hard to say if I could even save her.”
“What?” everyone gasped.
They initially thought that Jade had only said that to dismiss Kyle. They really didn’t expect her to be telling the truth.
Someone immediately spoke up, “Then, you guys should go ahead now. It’ll be quicker if there are fewer passengers, so we’ll just travel separately! We can meet up afterward.”
“That’s fine too,” replied Alex.
He then took out a few bottles of pills for rejuvenating power before handing it to them. “This is to help you guys rejuvenate faster, in case something happens. Oh right, I’ll leave everything regarding Colton’s family to you all. And it’s best to check their relations to the Blood Cult. Many of them are most likely involved.”
After giving them a few reminders, Alex hopped onto Whitey with Jade in his arms.
Nora, who was still on the ground, called out to him. “Hey, give me a hand. I don’t have the strength to climb up.”
As Jade’s sister, it was better she tagged along since she’d be able to take care of Jade better.
Alex immediately waved his hand and brought Nora onto Whitey’s back without having to touch her. However, the seat that popped out of Whitey’s body could only hold one person. It was already quite cramped with both Alex and Jade sitting there, hence there wasn’t any place left for Nora.
In the end, Nora decided to sit on Alex’s lap. “Let’s go!” she chirped nonchalantly.
Alex stole a glance at her and slapped her behind. “Go!”
“Ow… ow… ow… why did you slap me? You’re riding the cat, not me!”
“You were in my way.”
Whitey broke into a sprint as rapid as lightning.
Jade was currently unconscious, so Alex had to hold on to her. Nora, on the other hand, hadn’t regained her strength yet, hence she couldn’t sit still with such speed. Her body shifted around on Alex’s lap.
Alex was helpless when he felt the sudden movement in his pants. In the end, he couldn’t take it anymore, worried that she would accidentally land on his face if she lost balance. He immediately wrapped his other arm around her waist, pushing her down.
Ten or so minutes later, they reached the Rockefeller manor.
Alex didn’t waste any time and rushed to his room, grabbing a handful of antidote pills and giving it to Nora. “Feed these to her.”
“My sister is unconscious. How am I supposed to do that?” Nora asked.
“You can use your month.”
“What?”
“Just do it! Do you even want to save her? It’s not like you’re dating someone, so what are you worried about?”
Nora was so mad that she didn’t know what to say. ‘That… Unspeakable defect on my body hasn’t been cured yet. How am I supposed to look for a date with that?’
As Nora fed Jade the pills, Alex continued working hard. He sat on the floor, mixing his blood with Jade’s to draw a Zharvakko Talisman Formation. As the circle was formed, he instructed Nora to place Jade in the middle.
“Look after her for now. I need to prepare some medicine for her. And remember not to disturb me throughout the process. If I fail, your sister is done for.”
After a short ponder, he grabbed Nora’s hand and inserted some golden core spiritual power into her body. This could help her quickly rejuvenate her Chi. Since this was the combined power of Ancient Forbidden Spells, Ksitigarbha’s holy power, and Chaos spiritual energy, any little amount was extremely precious. Nora felt just how powerful it was and how quickly it rejuvenated her strength. It also felt as if it was cleansing all her veins.
“Give me some more!” she demanded while grabbing Alex’s hand.

Alex flung her hand away. “Don’t be so casual with me. I have a wife.”
“Hmph! As if you don’t have other women around you.”
“Are you a normal woman then?” Alex joked Nora.
“I’m going to bite your neck and let you bleed to death.”
“Don’t. Only normal women get to bite me.” After saying this, Alex immediately rushed off to make new pills.
The pill he had to make was a grade six pill called a limit-breaking pill. It was higher in class and way more effective than regular antidote pills. Not only could it help with detoxification, but it could cure other ailments such as numbness and dizziness.
As expected, all the materials needed to make it were extremely precious.
One of the main ingredients was the Snake Venom Fruit, a grade six, first-class spiritual herb. Alex didn’t have such a treasure in stock back then, but he managed to find some in Colton’s spatial ring.
Two hours later, Alex managed to synthesize two limit-breaking pills. He immediately handed it to Nora so that she could feed it to Jade via mouth to mouth.
Unexpectedly, Jade started vomiting pools of blood after taking the medicine.
“Ah! Sis?!”
“Alex… How could this happen? Your medicine isn’t effective at all. In fact, it even worsened her condition!”
Alex checked Jade’s pulse and inserted some of his Chi into her body.
After a briefwhile, he said, “Don’t panic. The pill is working fine. It’s just forcing the toxins out of her body But since this is a grade six pill, its effects are extremely strong, so that’s why she couldn’t even handle a single one. If it weren’t for this Zharvakko Talisman Formation, her heart would’ve burst from the strong medicinal effects. Her brain could’ve been potentially damaged as well.”
Nora then asked with tears in her eyes, “Then what should we do? Can we not save her?”
Jade wasn’t just her sworn sister. She was also her idol and her mental support; hence Nora cherished her whole-heartedly.
Alex pondered and said, “I have to look for someone. She might be able to help.”
“Who?”
“My girlfriend.”
Alex was referring to Cheryl Coney.
It was almost five in the morning at the time. When Alex took his phone out, he realized that he hadn’t called Dorothy to check in with her. Hence, he called her first and updated her on everything briefly.
Dorothy was indeed worried about his safety, so she was very relieved to receive his call. After some small talk, she went to inform the others.
Alex then dialed Cheryl’s number, but a man seemed to have picked up instead.
Alex froze. ‘Why would a man pick up Cheryl’s phone at this hour?’
‘Could they be… Sleeping together?’
“Is Cherry here?” He asked, suppressing the nervousness within his head.
“Cherry? Who are you?”
Alex frowned. “And who are you? Pass Cheryl the phone.”
The man replied. “I’m her boyfriend. She’s sleeping right now. So don’t bother us for no reason.”
After saying this, the call ended.
When Alex redialed her number, the phone seemed to have been turned off. Alex stood there, stunned and upset.
Unfortunately, Nora overheard their conversation and chuckled. “What? Your girlfriend slept with someone else? Aww, look at you! You’re turning green!”
Alex huffed and headed out without saying a word.

‘Who is that man?’
‘Why is he with Cheryl at this hour?’
‘Is he really her boyfriend?’
Alex didn’t quite believe this. He knew who Cheryl was, and her feelings towards him were indeed genuine. They just couldn’t get past the last stage due to many reasons, but they knew that they just had to wait for the right time.
‘Could something have happened to her?’ Thinking about this, Alex started panicking.
He had seen quite a few articles saying that a man had killed his own wife and used her identity to keep posting online to create an illusion as if they were still alive.
However, Cheryl had received the legacy of the Immortal Doctor and had Guilherme Extraordinaire at her side. Moreover, she had the Galactic Protection Amulet he gave her as well.
This whole while, Alex never noticed the feeling of the amulet shattering. If he did, he would’ve felt as if his heart had dropped.
‘It couldn’t have been Colton’s men, right?’
Alex shook the thought off as soon as it came up.
If it really were Colton’s men, they would have never spoken to him with that attitude.
“Sword of the Universe!”
Alex decided to stop guessing and called out his sword. Hopping on to it, be rushed towards Cheryl’s home. He didn’t enter but hovered in the air, releasing his divine sense instead, scanning the entire house…
He noticed that James was still sleeping whereas Granny Coney had woken up. She had just gotten out of bed and was brushing her teeth…
But there was no sign of Cheryl.
‘Where would she have gone?’
‘Oh right! I could try to sense the amulet!’
Alex suddenly remembered that the amulet contained some of his blood and a ray of spiritual conscience. Thus, he would be able to use the Paper Doll Curse of the Three Realms to locate her.
He then took out a paper doll and drew a talisman in the air, sealing a spiritual talisman onto it.
The next second, the paper doll caught on flames on its own and turned into a spiritual phoenix, flying towards a certain direction… Alex used his Imperial Sword Flight and followed immediately.
At the time, Granny Coney had just finished brushing her teeth and replacing her dentures back into her mouth. She lifted her head to look outside the window and felt shocked.
‘What was that?’
‘A person? Or was it a ghost?’
She rubbed her eyes gently and took another look, yet the figure seemed to have vanished.
As the sun rose, warm rays of sunlight shone on the white fluffy clouds. A sword flew with great speed as ifi t was trying to cut the sky in half. In just a few moments, Alex reached Long Beach.
When he realized that this was their destination, Alex knew that Cheryl was at the hospital that he got her, Mercy Cancer Hospital.
Following the phoenix, Alex finally found Cheryl. She was currently wearing a white doctor’s robe, standing in front of a rack of experiment equipment, seemingly busy. Guilherme, the previous Immortal Doctor, was there as well.
‘How is this sleeping?’
‘What the f*ck, who is that man who picked up the call?’
‘He made me panic for nothing. I really thought I had been cheated on!’
Alex stood on the flying sword and waved his hand gently, turning the small, light phoenix into smoke as it vanished in thin air.
He watched her silently from afar. She seemed so focused on work, running experiments even at this hour. It was obvious that she was pulling an all-nighter. Alex even noticed that she seemed skinnier than before, her chin appearing even pointier now. The sight of her broke his heart.
Just then, Guilherme noticed Alex. He lifted his head to see Alex floating in the air outside. Overjoyed, he immediately informed Cheryl.
“What?” Cheryl gasped as she looked towards the direction Guilherme pointed and met eyes with Alex.

As the saying went, beauty lay in the eyes of its beholder. Cheryl’s gorgeous eyes lit up as soon as she saw Alex. She looked overwhelmed and shy, leaving her experiment aside as she rushed to the window.
“Alex!”
“Long time no see, Cheryl. ”
“Mhm, I thought you didn’t want me anymore!”
Upon saying those words, the woman sniffled, clearly upset.
Since it was kind of weird to be speaking through a window, Alex pointed to the laboratory door. “I’ll go there.”
Cheryl had placed her little hands on the glass of the window, still longing for him. “Alright, I’ll clean this place up.”
Alex put his hand on the glass as well, then headed inside of the building. Using his divine sense again, he instantly found the nearest entrance.
He retrieved his sword before anyone noticed him and entered through the balcony, heading to where Cheryl’s lab was. Unexpectedly, a man stopped him before he could enter.
This man looked like he was in his thirties and were dark eye bags. Alex could tell that he lived quite the private life. Not only did he have renal insufficiency, he even had andrology problems.
The man looked Alex from his head to his feet, visibly disgusted and disdainful. Alex wasn’t exactly dressed nicely at this moment, his clothes slightly torn and stained with blood.
In actuality, whatever he was wearing was already decent since he asked for new clothes from the Flying Eagles after exiting the Kala Temple. He would’ve been wearing completely tom-off clothes otherwise. The events he experienced in this one very night were enough for three years’ worth…
Someone tried to hunt him down back at the Assex Villa. He then fought back and had to go up against Spencer. Next, he had to lure his enemies into the Kala Temple and battled the Blood Shura. After that, he had to bust into both the Lawrences’ home and the high-level meeting of the Flying Eagles to defeat Colton. In the end, he had to find a cure for Jade.
It was simply unbelievable that so many things could happen in just one night.
“Who are you? What are you doing here?” the man asked.
Alex instantly realized that this was the voice of the man who picked up the call. He even noticed Cheryl’s phone on the desk.
When he saw that, he became furious. “I’m here to look for your girlfriend.”
The man froze. “Cheryl Coney?”
Alex nodded. “Exactly.”
The man continued to ask, “What business do you have with her?”
Alex replied softly, “I want to sleep with her.”
The man instantly fumed with rage. “Do you have a death wish?! How dare you fantasize about my girlfriend, you piece of garbage?! Come over here and kneel before me. Take your slippers off and slap yourself a hundred times with them! Else you won’t be able to get out of here alive!”
Alex heard footsteps. Cheryl was on her way out of the lab.
He smiled. “I’m in a consensual relationship with your girlfriend. We got together by our free will. Don’t believe me? You can ask her if she’s willing to sleep with me. Ah, I feel you should just give up and let me have your girlfriend. You’re having serious renal insufficiency issues after all.”
This man was of a rather high status. His name was Pete Watterson, a politician. As the head of the CDC of Michigan, he brought along his subordinates to Mercy Cancer Hospital to cooperate on a mission. However, this man noticed Cheryl’s goddess-like beauty and charm, eventually falling head over heels for her.
Moreover, he had heard that Cheryl wasn’t into any of her male co-workers, nor was she married as well. With that, he immediately started chasing after her like crazy.
Although Cheryl had rejected him multiple times and made it clear that she wasn’t interested in him, this man thought he would get the girl sooner or later just because he was a politician. He thought he could threaten Cheryl into dating him with the hospital. Not only did he chase away all of Cheryl’s admirers, but he even addressed himself as her boyfriend.
This was indeed a shameless and bossy man.
Hearing what Alex said really set him off. He slammed the table and stood up abruptly, ready to swing his fists. Just then, Cheryl opened the door to the laboratory.
She rushed out immediately and jumped onto Alex, kissing him voluntarily and passionately.
Upon seeing this, Pete was stunned, fuming with jealousy and rage.

Seeing the woman he liked kiss some other man out of her own free will upset Pete a great deal. He felt as if his lungs were about to explode.
Cheryl was the woman he was into. He was so sure that he could get the girl as well.
‘How could she kiss another man? Isn’t that cheating? I won’t allow this! I simply won’t!’
“Cheryl Coney!” he bellowed coldly.
However, quite some time had passed since the two saw each other. Now that they did, they couldn’t help themselves. They wished they could kiss for eternity, till the end of time.
They didn’t care about mere passersby like Pete. If anything, they wished that he could just screw off. Hence, Cheryl ignored him completely and continued kissing Alex as if no one was around.
Pete’s expressions twisted. He felt his face burning up as if he had just been slapped several times. He knew that he couldn’t do anything to Cheryl since she was the dean of this hospital. She still, however, held a certain degree of social status. Moreover, since he was after her heart, he had to be nice to her.
Thus, he figured that he could defeat Alex with ease. He grabbed him by the sleeve and pulled him away forcefully. “Are you done yet?”
Despite his efforts, he couldn’t seem to force Alex out of the way.
Alex turned towards Pete. “You’re still here? Can’t you get lost?”
“What? How dare you talk to me like that, you bastard?”
Pete exploded with fury in an instant, his entire skull looking like it would be blown off by pure rage. “Do you know who I am? Do you know that I can make your life hell with a single word? I can wreak doom and misfortune to your entire family!”
Alex’s eyes turned cold. “The last time someone said such things to me, they ended up as buckets of flesh. Would you like to be the next one? Tell me, who are you?”
Pete huffed coldly. “Who the f*ck are you trying to scare? Just look at your clothes. You’re probably just a security guard, aren’t you? Do you even earn 3000 a month? Please tell him who I am, Cheryl!”
Cheryl squinted and took a glance at Pete before turning to Alex. “Oh, he’s just a ridiculous politician. I don’t even know how he earned the position as chief of the CDC. He doesn’t know a thing! It’s like he can’t think straight after seeing a woman, and he’s always pestering and annoying me!”
“Ah…”
Never in Pete’s worst nightmare would he have thought that Cheryl would describe him with such insult. His face turned red from embarrassment, blowing up from rage. “Cheryl Coney, do you know what happens to you after you say such things?”
Cheryl grabbed Alex’s hand and smiled. “I don’t care. My man will help me through anything you throw at me.”
Pete was so envious and mad that he almost breathed fire. He growled in a scornful tone, “Hey punk. If you know what’s best for you, leave Cheryl now! I’ve had my eyes on her, so it doesn’t matter if you’re her boyfriend, just break up and get out!”
“And what if I say no?”
Alex’s gaze was extremely frosty. With his current powers, he really didn’t want to argue with normal people. It was like trying to fight an ant. It just didn’t seem right.
However, if this little ant just couldn’t take a hint and tested his boundaries, he wouldn’t mind crushing it with one stomp.
Pete didn’t seem to sense any danger, cockily replying, “No? Then you’d just make Cheryl’s life miserable. Because of you, she would lose her position as the dean of this hospital. Or worse, her doctor’s license would be revoked… As long as I want to, I could even accuse her of leaking top secret information about the country so that she could never get back up on her feet.”
Cheryl was so mad her face turned green.
Alex squeezed her fingers gently and said, “Then, do you know that I can kill you as long as I want to?”
“Well, aren’t you just a stubborn f*cking mule?” Pete yelled.
Just then, two of Pete’s subordinates came looking for him. They saw the three arguing in the middle of the hallway.
“Chief! What happened here?” they asked.
Pete immediately replied. “You two came just in time. I suspect that this man is the cause of the recent poisoning cases! He is also suspected of assaulting all those patients! Not only that, he just threatened to kill me! Arrest him now!”
“What?”

The subordinates froze. Just as they were about to react, Alex slapped Pete across the face.
With an odd cracking sound, his head did a 180-degree turn.
“When I said I could kill you, it wasn’t a threat. I was merely informing you!”
At the time, Pete wasn’t dead yet. He was still standing and sensing his surroundings. He saw his back from this extremely odd angle and heard what Alex said.
He finally realized, ‘This bastard actually killed me! But, how dare he?’
Those were his final thoughts before falling to the ground flat on his face.
When Pete’s subordinates saw this, they were stunned. Icy chills ran down their spines.
“M… Murder!”
“You… How dare you murder someone in broad daylight?! Do you even know who he is? You’re in so much trouble!”
Alex said coldly, “Go ahead and call for whoever supports him. I’ll be waiting here. Now get lost!”
The two immediately scooted off, still panicking. They went to make a call.
Cheryl was worried. “Alex, sure, this guy was hateful and deceitful, but you didn’t have to kill him, did you? His father possesses a lot of power in Long Beach. Doesn’t this mean that we provoked them?”
Alex said, “Don’t worry, only others would have to worry if they have provoked me! And Cherry, you look thinner now. Have you been tiring yourself out lately? Just look at you. Your eyes are kind of red. How many all-nighters have you pulled, hmm?”
“Three… No, two… Alright, maybe two and a half. It’s okay. I can handle this. It’s mostly because of the few poisoning cases around Long Beach lately. The patients have peculiar symptoms too. I’m highly suspecting that it’s a contagious disease, but I couldn’t seem to reconstruct how it’s transmitted. It’s just really weird.”
Alex said, “It is quite weird that both you and Guilherme couldn’t confirm this even after working together.”
After that, Alex inserted a flow of his golden core Chi into Cheryl’s body. After it entered her veins, she felt as if all her fatigue had vanished into thin air.
With her newly regained energy, she turned to Alex. “Your medical skills are better than mine, so let’s go check the poison out! If we can’t find a solution soon, I’m worried that more people will get poisoned.”
“Okay!” Alex agreed happily.
He knew that Jade wouldn’t succumb to any life-threatening emergencies since she took the limit-breaking pill.
Alex followed Cheryl into the laboratory. She suddenly remembered and asked, “Why did you come find me at this hour?”
Alex replied, “I have a very tricky case on my plate too. I wanted you to help diagnose her. But I didn’t expect a man to have picked up the call. He even said that he’s your boyfriend and was sleeping with you. So I came here as soon as I could.”
Cheryl was shocked and finally remembered. “I left my phone outside. ”
Alex handed her a phone.
“I brought it for you.”
Cheryl grinned cheekily as she took it. “So what you’re saying is, you only came here because you were jealous? Then should I thank Pete? Otherwise, I would’ve been sent to the cold bench and cease to exist in your heart. Only huh?”

“Of course not!” Alex immediately denied it. “Why would I ever dump you aside? Didn’t I tell you that I had to go to Flying Eagles Academy? I just came back yesterday.”
Cheryl had only said that for the sake of saying it, but she was indeed curious about Flying Eagles Academy after Alex mentioned it.
“What was it like there?’
Alex said, “It’s hard to explain, but you’ll understand when I bring you there for a tour! It’s just bigger than most academies and provides different courses.”
“I’ll be looking forward to that then.”
After entering the lab, he noticed that Guilherme wasn’t back with Cheryl. He was currently in front of a table.
Now that he had worked with Cheryl for quite a while, his spirit powers seemed to have increased slightly. However, without a body, it was difficult for him to do most things. For example, he couldn’t do any of the experiments on his own.
“Master!” Guilherme greeted and bowed respectfully to Alex.
Alex looked at him, asking, “Guilherme, would you like to carry out experiments on your own? I have a way to let you have a temporary body.
“Are you going to use that guy’s corpse out there?” asked Cheryl.
Alex shook his head. “Of course not. He doesn’t deserve that.”
Alex could never bring himself to do such a thing. It would be an insult to Guilherme if he let him possess Pete’s corpse. He then took out a paper doll.
Softly chanting the Paper Doll Curse of Three Realms, the doll immediately became life-size, but only at the thickness of a piece of paper.
The entire thing looked slightly odd.
Despite this, Guilherme seemed surprised. “That’s the Paper Doll Curse of Three Realms by the Gods of Medicine! Master, congratulations on learning such a precious skill!”
Alex froze. “You know this too?”
Guilherme replied, “Back in the day, my teacher was researching the Paper Doll Curse of Three Realms as well. He left some information on it after he passed. Sadly, I couldn’t wrap my fingers around it.”
Guilherme smiled. “I’m more than willing to, master.”
After he shifted into the paper doll, it started expanding from the sides.
Alex then placed his thumb and index finger together, tapping the paper doll’s forehead.
Cheryl was surprised to see the pale, dull paper doll turn into Guilherme in a mere second. She stared at him in disbelief.
“Can I touch it?” she asked Alex.
Alex smiled. “Of course.”
Cheryl touched Guilhenne’s shoulder gently, but it felt strange. It still felt like she was touching a paper doll, despite it taking the look of a living, breathing person. This was just how incredible the Paper Doll Curse of Three Realms was.
Alex said, “I just learned the basics too, so I’m not all that familiar with this skill. This paper doll can only be preserved for a week at most, so you’d have to change out by that time. But I could prepare a few more.”
Guilherme stood there, feeling around his newfound body. He himself was amazed by this power. He then put his hands together and bowed to Alex. “Master, this is amazing as it is.”
Alex then asked, “Show me the poison that you guys found then. What is it?”
Cheryl pointed at the test tubes on the laboratory table. “This is it. These are the toxins that have been extracted from the patients! But this poison affects patients in a very odd way. It won’t kill them, but it turns them semi-conscious, and their mobility deteriorates. It’s like they turn into beasts.”
“Oh?” Alex was stunned.
‘Such poison is indeed weird,’ he thought. He picked up a test tube carefully.
However, just as his fingers touched it, he sensed that the toxins within the tube were the exact same as the one that poisoned Jade.
‘What could this all mean?’

With furrowed eyebrows, Alex was stunned in place. From his expression, Cheryl could tell something wrong. “So? Did you find something?”
“I’ve seen this poison,” replied Alex.
“Huh?”
“Where? Is there a cure for it?” Guilherme asked.
Alex shook his head. “In my master’s body. She’s currently poisoned with this, and her life is in jeopardy. I initially wanted to ask for both of your help; to see if there was a cure to this.”
Guilherme said, “The biggest problem we have, as of now, is to find the source of this poison. Else it would be like trying to find a needle in a haystack. We don’t know where to start. Master, how did your master get poisoned?”
“She was poisoned in the Myriad Demon Valley of the ancient boundary,” Alex replied.
Guilherme was speechless.
Back in his day, the ancient boundary had yet to exist, hence it was obvious that he was clueless as to what the Myriad Demon Valley was. It was useless to have asked such a question.
However, even though there were cases recorded in the books of Mercy Cancer Hospital, these people were quarantined in the isolation wards. Moreover, information on these patients was completely sealed from the public. Only a few within this hospital knew about this.
Alex said, “Bring me to those patients.”
Cheryl nodded.
As the three left the laboratory, a man kicked the entrance wide open, crying loudly, “Pete, oh Pete! How could you just die like that? Which bastard did this? I’ll shred them to pieces! I’ll kill their entire family!”
Thud… thud… thud…
A large group of people rushed into the building. They appeared to be in the hundreds, crowding up the building completely.
Each held a different weapon and had stern expressions plastered on their faces. Just one look, and it was obvious that they were a triad gang, thugs who were part of the underworld.
They didn’t care where they were at the time. After barging into the lab, they smashed everything they saw on the table without hesitation.
This was the best laboratory within the hospital. Every piece of equipment here was of the highest quality, not to mention how expensive they actually were. Smashing them would incur awful losses to the hospital.
Cheryl was heartbroken. “Stop! Stop, all of you! Who are you people? Who said you could mess around in a hospital?”
“Me!” A man’s voice came from outside of the door. After that, the entire gang lined up at the side.
A dark-skinned man in his late fifties walked in, filled with murderous intent. He scanned the three and asked, “Who killed my son? Show yourself! ”
This man, Tom Watterson, was Pete’s father. Unexpectedly, although Pete was the chief of the CDC, he had a father who dabbled with the underworld. He even seemed like he was doing well in such shady business.
“I did.” Alex took a step forward and admitted to it.
Since Tom had lost his son, he wished that he could skin Alex alive and feed him to dogs. He yelled angrily. “Go grovel before my son and give him 300 kowtows! I won’t dismember your corpse once you do so!”
Pausing slightly, he then looked towards Cheryl. “So you’re the girl my son was head over heels with? You look pretty nice. Bring back my son’s corpse to my place later and mourn his death as his wife for three years.”
‘What?’ Cheryl’s expression darkened. ‘How could he give such an order?’
Just then, someone’s voice interrupted the fiasco. “Tom Watterson, got a death wish? Not only did you barge into a hospital with your gang, you even ordered my master to grove! for your son? Who do you think you are?”
A gorgeous and dashing woman strode into the building. She was Alex’s first student, Anna Coleman.
