Alex was indeed walking along the hall outside the room. However, he wasn’t alone, there were two women next to him.
One was Sharpay whereas the other was Hailey.
Hailey found out that he was still in California. She decided to call him up to treat him to lunch, so they agreed to meet up at the salon.
Hailey was smiling. “Brother, the scar removing cream that you invented is way too effective! I’ll bet that this product would be much more successful than the previous two. I just found some good customers who had scars to try it out and it’s already become quite a sensation online! I’ve received hundreds of texts from people trying to get their hands on that product!”
Alex already knew that the development of the scar removing cream was a success since be last visited. That was why he decided to send some to City Salon. But, he never expected it to be this popular.
Surprised, he said, “I thought the scar removing cream wouldn’t have that wide of a market.”
Hailey shook her head. “That’s where you’re wrong. People get scars more than freckles. No, it’s not even just a possibility. Like, who wouldn’t get hurt once or twice in their whole life? Scars are inevitable! No matter the age, scars are likely to occur, so this cream could potentially be considered a necessity at this point! I have a scar too.”
Alex asked, “Where?”
Hailey’s eyes were filled with mischief. “On my thigh, want to see?”
Alex was speechless.
‘Sharpay is literally next to us yet you’re still openly flirting?’
As expected, Sharpay took a glance at the two, suspicious.
Suddenly, the door to one of the VIP rooms flung open, and Sharpay jumped in surprise. She turned towards it and noticed her aunt standing there.
She suddenly froze in fear.
‘I don’t want Claire to know that Alex is the owner of this salon!’
Despite her actions, it appeared to be too late.
“Aunt Claire? Why are you here? Did you come to look for me?”
Sharpay was almost as tall as Claire, both around five foot four. Since Sharpay was wearing a pair of high heels, she currently stood slightly taller than Claire. She was hoping that she’d block her view, preventing her from seeing Alex.
However, Claire had rushed out only because she had heard Alex’s voice.
She pushed Sharpay aside forcefully and scolded. “Who said I’m here for you? Get lost, you shameless brat!”
She then pointed at Alex. “How could you do this to me, Rockefeller?!”
Claire’s words were slightly misleading.
Anyone who didn’t know them personally would ’ve thought that Alex was her husband who had cheated behind her back.
Alex had quite a scare.
He didn’t expect Claire to pop up out of nowhere. Although he had gotten a divorce with Dorothy, it was still a fake divorce. So, this woman was still his mother-in-law in every way.
Val and Eloise rushed out of the room as well.
Val almost screamed when she noticed Alex and Hailey at the door. She immediately greeted them respectfully. “Welcome, Mr. Rockefeller! Welcome, Mrs. Carter!”
On the other hand, Eloise’s eyes lit up when she saw Alex.
Every woman had different beauty standards for men. When she saw a dashing young man, she reacted just like how any man would react when they see beautiful women.
After hearing how Val addressed him, she became shocked. She realized that this young man was the owner of City Salon.
She pulled Claire aside and lowered her voice. “Claire, what are you doing? Have you gone mad? That’s Mr. Rockefeller, the owner of this salon.”

Claire’s expression darkened. “He’s my son-in-law.”
“What?”
Eloise froze, staring at her in disbelief. She had never met Alex before, but she’s listened to Claire complain about him enough times to perceive him as a complete loser.
‘How could that loser be the same person as this dashing young man?’
Moreover, she had heard many rumours about Alex from others. This made her more reluctant to believe this. She thought Claire had mistook Alex as someone else, so she apologized profusely. “Sorry, sorry. My friend just thought you were someone else.”
She tried dragging Claire back into the room. However, Claire wouldn’t budge and pushed Eloise aside harshly.
Due to her strength, Eloise lost her balance and almost fell. If it weren’t for Val, she would’ve definitely stumbled over.
Eloise was enraged by her actions.
‘What is this damned woman doing? I’m just trying to help but she pushed me! Does she think she could afford to provoke this man? Lord Lex had to bow down to him! It’s not like he lost his power when Lord Lex died!’
‘He could have easily taken down both Assex Constructions and my husband’s health and nutrition center too!’
Claire said, “I’m not mistaken, I can recognize this bastard even if he changed his appearance!”
Alex pressed his lips together, visibly annoyed. “Sorry, I’m not your son-in-law.”
With this, Eloise looked at Claire, thinking. ‘That’s what I thought.’
However, Alex continued. “I’ve gotten a divorce with your daughter. So I’m just your ex-son-in-law.”
“Huh?”
“No way?”
Many of them exclaimed loudly, especially Eloise. She sounded as if she was shrieking like a ghost. Val covered her mouth as she stared at Claire with disbelief.
‘So the blind and heartless woman was her!’
‘She didn’t like how poor Mr. Rockefeller was and forced him to get a divorce?’
‘This woman really isn’t what she seems. How could she have done something so stupid?’
“Yeah, don’t forget that, Aunt Claire. You were the one who forced Mr. Rockefeller to get a divorce with Dorothy. Now that that’s done, stop clinging to him!”
Unexpectedly, Claire was infuriated by her words. She slapped Sharpay across the face and yelled. “Of course you wouldn’t want me to cut ties with him! So that you could use your skills in bed to try and seduce him and take our money!”
Sharpay’s face swelled up after being slapped.
However, she was younger than Claire and couldn’t slap her back in front of everyone. All she could do was seek help from Alex through a pitiful look on her face.
Alex narrowed his eyes. He initially wanted to show her some respect, but he couldn’t hold in his rage anymore. “Ms. Bardot, if you’re here for a facial treatment, I’ll welcome you warmly. But if you’re here to cause a commotion, I’m sorry but I’ll have to ask security to throw you out.”
Claire’s eyes widened, filled with anger. “How dare you!”
Hailey couldn’t bear watching this and spoke up as well. “How can you still be so stubborn, woman? My brother has gotten a divorce with your daughter, he’s cut ties with your family! So what’s the point in clinging to him now? Do you regret it? Are you trying to get them to remarry? I’ll just give it to you straight. There’s no way you’d get your way! Who would want a mother-in-law like you? You’re just pure bad luck!”
Claire fumed. “I’m talking to him, so keep your nose out of this! Alex, I’ll just ask you one thing. Is this salon yours?”
Alex replied, “So what if it is?”
Claire seemed excited. “That’s great! You’ve only gotten a divorce with my daughter a few days ago, so that means this salon is mutual property! It’s illegal that you didn’t mention this when you two got a divorce! Besides, you were the one who promised to leave the marriage without anything. So this salon is Dorothy’s, it has nothing to do with you now! You’re no longer the CEO of this salon anymore! Get lost!”
Smack!
Claire was immediately slapped harshly across the face.

But the one who slapped her wasn’t Alex, it was Hailey. She disliked this woman ever since she’s heard about her. In fact, she would insult Claire behind her back multiple times. She really didn’t expect her to be so shameless as to bully Alex even after the divorce.
‘To think this woman wants to take City Salon away from him too. Well, she can dream on!’
Hailey was fuming as she shouted at Claire. “Do you have no shame? What are you thinking? How dare you try to take City Salon?”
Alex stared at Claire coldly.
If it weren’t for Dorothy’s sake, he would’ve slapped her long ago.
He really had not seen any woman this shameless.
Claire yelled. “You stupid b*tch, how dare you slap…”

Hailey slapped her once more.
“If you dare insult me any further, I will have the security guards beat you up. Don’t believe me? Try me then!”
Claire opened her mouth, but no words came out. She still didn’t dare to go against Hailey.
Claire was very biased, she feared the strong but bullied the weak.
Alex would endure her tantrums and insults for Dorothy’s sake, that’s why her attitude continued to worsen. She would cross the line over and over again, making his life a living hell.
It was only back when Joanne was still alive that she let the Assex family release their anger on her.
This time, Hailey, a strong headed CEO, didn’t seem to be joking around. Since she said that she would take action, Claire was afraid.
However, she couldn’t bear knowing that she couldn’t take City Salon.
‘This salon is like a goose that lays golden eggs!’
“Alex, you have to be reasonable here! Dorothy’s been so nice to you all this time! She was the one who fed you, she let you live with her, she bought you clothes, she even gave you ten thousand dollars as pocket money every month! How else would you have survived till this day? You can’t just claim the mutual property as your own, right? Even if you’re not leaving everything to her, you should at least give her half of the shares!”
Claire said in calmly after taking a deep breath.
Sharpay’s eyes widened, she was starting to panic.
If Claire were to take half of City Salon’s shares, she would definitely become her boss. Sharpay would never accept this. She would stop her if she could.
‘She would definitely give me a hard time later on.’
‘And my proposal would be all for naught! I’ve put in so much effort in the past few days! I was preparing to become more successful! But all of that would be gone!’
‘I would have to work my *ss off for my aunt if this happens!’
Hailey laughed. “What a great dream, but reality doesn’t revolve around you. You can dream on if you think you can take half of City Salon’s shares. You want to know why? That’s because Alex still doesn’t own any of the shares, I do.”
“What?” Claire was shocked.
“No way, he just said that he owned the salon! Everyone knows that he’s the CEO of City Salon.”
At the time, Alex was slightly confused as well. ‘What is the meaning of this?’
Hailey smiled. “Feel free to have someone investigate this if you don’t believe me! And of course he’s the CEO, because I said so! All the shares of City Salon will now be transferred to him from now on! This means that this isn’t mutual property, since he’s gotten a divorce. So City Salon has nothing to do with your daughter!”
Claire’s mouth was agape. “So you’re saying that you’re just going to give City Salon to him? Why?”
Hailey replied, “Why not? I want to and I’d like to, so what’s it to you anyway?”
Claire asked, “Are you his sugar mommy?”

Hailey slapped her again.
Her voice was cold. “You really do have mouth of a b*tch, huh? Are you deaf? I just said that Alex is my godbrother! His mother, Brittany, is my godmother! My godmother had single handedly built Lush Cosmetics and made it trend across the whole country! I’m sure that it would trend across the whole world in time too! Our profits start from at least 100 million! We would definitely have a working capital of 100 billion within a year!”
“Too bad you kicked your amazing son-in-law out with your very own hands. Claire Bardot, you’re the one who didn’t know how to appreciate the ones around you. Your daughter could have become the richest woman in California. Heck, she could ’ve been the richest woman in the world! But your prejudice crushed her chances of achieving that, you literally handed it to another woman.”
Hailey then stared at her in mockery.

Claire fell on her behind out of shock.
She was appalled after hearing Hailey’s words. All she could think of were the words ‘100 billion’, ‘richest woman in California’ and ‘richest woman in the world’.
However, all these words were just mere dreams, vanishing in front of her eyes. She thumped her fist to her chest, regretting her actions greatly.
Eloise, on the other hand, was shocked to her core. She couldn’t help but scold Claire inside her head.
‘She used to be so smart back when we were classmates, yet now she just has the IQ of a rock. How could she not want such a good son-in-law? Is she trying to get God to become her son-in-law or something?’
She was shocked and disappointed at the same time.
‘If Alex was still Claire’s son-in-law, our friendship could have helped bring our business to newer heights, yet…’
Just then, a gorgeous and alluring woman walked into the salon. She looked as if she was a beautiful woman who came out of an ancient painting.
Her aura was intense.
Although she was just wearing a white dress, she just seemed so seductive and dominant that most wouldn’t dare to look her in the eye.
Alex turned and welcomed her with a smile. “Waltz, what brings you here? Didn’t you say that you have a meeting with the directors at noon?”
The woman who came was indeed Waltz Fleur.
Waltz noticed Claire, who was still sitting on the ground. She froze and pretended that she didn’t see her. With a bright smile, she said, “I’m here for a spot check. I wanted to see if you’ve been messing around with the women in here, you charmer.”
Alex rubbed his nose gently, feeling slightly awkward.
Everyone else continued to stare at Waltz in disbelief. Some of the female employees had come to rubberneck a while ago. They immediately felt ashamed as soon as they laid eyes on Waltz.
Sharpay was fairly disappointed as well.
Dorothy, Alex’s ex-wife, was already one of the most beautiful women in California. Now this woman, who seemed quite close to him, was just as gorgeous as well.
‘No wonder Alex isn’t interested in me.’
Eloise, on the other hand, was yet again appalled.
She knew who Waltz was. She had seen just how powerful Waltz was during a dinner party.
Moreover, she had watched the news this morning, saying that Thousand Miles Conglomerate was now being managed by this insanely gorgeous woman. She was their CEO.
She walked up to her in slight fear. “Ms. Fleur, it’s a pleasure to meet you!”
Waltz took a glance at her. She didn’t know who Eloise was, hence she ignored her completely. Instead, she turned to Alex with flirtatious eyes. “Like you said, we’re having a meeting with the directors, so how could our biggest shareholder not attend? Without you, how would I be able to handle those punks? So, what do you say? Let’s go now.”
She hugged Alex’s arm, clinging to him like a little koala hugging a tree.
Everyone was shocked.
Hailey couldn’t believe what she was hearing as well, wondering if she was hallucinating.
‘Alex is the biggest shareholder of Thousand Miles Conglomerate?’
‘That’s a whole business empire!’
Claire was trembling, her heart felt like it was going to explode any moment and she felt drained. Just then, an idea popped up in her head. She crawled up to her feet and said, “Alex, you’re the biggest shareholder of Thousand Miles Conglomerate, then… Isn’t that considered mutual property with my daughter?”
Waltz chuckled. “Claire Bardot, I still remember just how you used to bully my brother. Yet here you are trying to take shares of Thousand Miles Conglomerate? Let me ask you one thing, how many lives do you have for me to kill?”

Claire fell back to the ground again. This time, it wasn’t out of shock nor disappointment, it was out of fear. Money had blinded her thoughts a while ago. However, with Waltz’ s cruel words, she was able to snap back to reality.
She finally realized that this woman in front of her was the CEO of Thousand Miles Conglomerate. This woman could easily have someone drown their whole family as long as she said so.
Claire knew that her greed had drowned her senses, otherwise she wouldn’t even have thought of trying to take any of Thousand Miles Conglomerate’s shares. Even if she could take it, she wouldn’t be able to live to spend it.
She was so scared that her whole body was shivering. She couldn’t even stand up and apologize after imagining the terrifying consequences of her actions.
However, she couldn’t understand how Alex became the biggest shareholder of Thousand Miles Conglomerate.
‘Was William the founder of Thousand Miles Conglomerate?’
No matter What she was thinking, everyone couldn’t help but despise and feel disgusted by her, including Eloise.
Hailey gestured to someone and a security guard rushed over immediately.
Hailey pointed to Claire, who seemed uncivilised. “This woman is Claire Bardot, remember what she looks like. From now on, she is blacklisted from both City Salon and Belle Blossom. I prohibit her from coming anywhere near both salons. Throw her out now!”
“Yes, Miss!” Security dragged Claire to the door.
Claire yelled. “Alex! Rockefeller! I’m still your ex-mother-in-law! How dare you treat me like this? Do you think Dorothy would let this slide?”
Alex was put in a difficult position.
He was worried that this woman would complain to Dorothy about this, telling false truths about him. Narrowing his eyes, he turned to the guard. “Don’t hurt her.”
Waltz glared at him and whispered into his ear. “You’re too soft. If I had a say in this, I would’ve broken both of her legs.”
Alex sighed.
He thought, ‘I wonder how Waltz would react if she knew that I’m still in a relationship with Dorothy. She would probably be very upset.’

After Claire left, Waltz wanted to take a tour within City Salon since this was the first time she’s been here.
Alex asked, “Aren’t you going to the meeting? Have you changed your mind?”
Waltz didn’t seem to care. “It’s just like a tea party anyway, so what if I’m a little late? What can they do? Besides, Thousand Miles Conglomerate is way too big, I can’t handle it on my own. You’ve promised that you’d help. Secretaries do everything, so you’ll be my secretary from now on.”
Hailey, who was following them, couldn’t help but let out a chuckle.
Sharpay was following them as well, but. she was visibly upset. Still, she admired Alex even more at this point.
‘The CEO of Thousand Miles Conglomerate wanted to rely on and sleep with you. You really are an amazing, heroic person. You’re the drug of all women, it’s only reasonable that I’ve fallen deeply in love with you!’
Alex, however, didn’t even take a glance at her. Just like Dorothy said, he wasn’t interested in women like Sharpay.
She should know that she’s been with way too many men at this point
She might think that her love life was better than Alex’s, since he was now a divorced man.
Alex shook his head as he stared at Waltz. “I can’t be your secretary, I don’t have the energy to handle Thousand Miles Conglomerate. I don’t even want to handle the SCBA. Let’s just find a spokesperson for it. And you should go hire some reliable secretaries for yourself. Wouldn’t that solve everything then?”
Upon hearing this, Hailey interrupted out of shock. “Brother, what’s with the SCBA? I’ve heard that Hydra Group of Michigan had provoked the Stoermers, causing them to be crushed in one night. I heard the president of the SCBA died too!”
“Well, let’s just say he asked for it. He was the one who tried to steal something from the Stoermers, which was the cause of his death.”
Just then, he remembered the Sky Tower. Since it was related to his father’s whereabouts, he had to take it seriously. However, he decided not to reveal too many details to Hailey and Sharpay. It was necessary for him to be cautious.
He turned to Hailey and said, “Hailey, remember the thing I’ve mentioned to you and Charles? The Sky Tower project of Michigan has been taken over by Thousand Miles Conglomerate. You can inform Charles about this and follow me to Michigan, we’ll see how this project would be carried out.”
Hailey was shocked. “You’ve really won it?”

In just a few moments, they finished the tour.
Although City Salon was luxurious, Waltz was not just any woman. Since she grew up in luxury, she lost interest fairly quickly.
She asked Alex, “Brother, are you done with work here? If you are, let’s go. We just need to show up. More importantly, we need you to sign the contract to transfer shares.”
Alex found out that Waltz had transferred Jerry and Fabio’s shares to him from Frank’s account. She didn’t do anything to Lex’s shares, mainly because Clay wasn’t back yet. They decided to wait until he’s back to discuss how it’ll be distributed.
“Give me half an hour!”
The four then went into the CEO’s office.
Alex read through Sharpay’s proposal, which she had put a lot of effort in.
Poor Sharpay had dolled up just to meet Alex. She had specifically picked out her clothes and bought them with a large sum of money.
She originally thought that this was a chance for her to be alone with Alex. She even thought about how she would seduce Alex. In the end, their meetup became a four person meeting. She was so frustrated that she was going to explode.
Waltz sat silently on the sofa with her eyes closed. Watching her, Sharpay dropped the idea of seducing Alex completely. She was worried that this would become her last day on earth if she were to reveal any of her thoughts.
Twenty minutes later, Alex was done reading the proposal. He nodded and said, “Very good, your proposal is very detailed. I’ll discuss with my mother and give you an answer in a week.”
Sharpay was overjoyed. “Alright, Mr. Rockefeller.”
Alex said, “You can go back to work now.”
Sharpay didn’t hesitate and walked out of the office, closing the door behind her.
After some small talk with Hailey, Alex and Waltz headed to Thousand Miles Conglomerate. As for lunch, Hailey and Alex had to reschedule.

Claire had called a cab. She was heading home, still filled with hatred and regret.
On the way home, she couldn’t stop thinking, ‘How would my life be if Alex was still my son-in-law?’
In the end, she just felt her heart sinking lower and lower. Her regret slowly grew as the seconds passed. She looked as if she wanted to pull out all of her hair. She started slapping herself harshly in the backseat, which ended up frightening the driver.
She had stopped believing in love ever since Henry betrayed her, hence all she believed in was money. Money was now the most important thing to her. She knew that money could bring her happiness both materialistically and mentally.
‘If Alex was still my son-in-law, he would have to give us at least a few hundred millions with how wealthy he is now… I would be able to buy apparel from luxurious brands, I could travel the world, I could even buy a cruise! I would’ve been able to boast about this on social media too! That’s the dream life!’
However, all that’s left for her were tears of regret.
When she got back home, she noticed both Dorothy and Beatrice gardening in their front yard. Their hands were all dirty and they didn’t look rich at all. They looked like country maids.
She was even more frustrated at this point. She sat on the ground and cried hysterically.
The two sisters were shocked as they rushed over and consoled her.
Claire wiped her tears. “It’s because of Rockefeller! Oh, Dorothy, please tell me, do you think you two could get back together?”

Their mother’s words shocked them.
Beatrice yelled. “Mom, what happened to you? Have you taken your meds?”
The person who didn’t want the two to get back together the most was Beatrice.
She knew that Alex was Mask, the man who had stolen her heart. She even dreamed about doing the deed with him in a forest clearing last night.
When she woke up, she felt quite wet down there.
Since Alex and Dorothy had gotten a divorce, she figured that it wouldn’t be a problem if she were to date him now. Moreover, she believed that they haven’t had sex during their marriage, so Dorothy wouldn’t be able to bash her for doing so.
‘Yet Morn here wants them to get back together! Wouldn’t that mean I’d have no chance?’
Claire scolded her. “You’re the one who hasn’t taken your meds! Do you think I’ve gone mad?”
Beatrice said, “Why would you want them to remarry if you haven’t? You were the one who put a knife to your neck, forcing them to get a divorce! It’s not even been a few days and you’re regretting your decision? Do you think this is a game?”
Claire replied, “So what if I’m regretting it? I really do, I wish I could slap myself to oblivion now! Why didn’t I just endure him a little longer…”
After saying that, she actually started slapping herself, as harshly as she could.
Dorothy stopped her.
She had noticed slap marks on her face and initially thought that Alex had slapped her.
It would seem that Claire had slapped herself instead.
“Mom, what really happened? Didn’t you say you get annoyed just from his presence?”
Claire cried. “But he’s rich! He’s become super rich all of a sudden! City Salon, Thousand Miles Conglomerate, Belle Blossom, they’re all his businesses! All of these companies are like geese that lay golden eggs! They could easily earn up to 100 billion… If I didn’t force you to divorce him, you would’ve become the richest woman in California in no time! You could’ve been the richest woman in the whole country! How rich is that? Why didn’t I just endure it? I’m really regretting this…”
The two sisters were appalled.
Dorothy said, “So you want me to get back with him because he’s rich now? Mom, looks like money is more important to you than your own daughter! You just want me to marry for money! Don’t even think about it, I will not remarry.”
She then walked back into her own room.
Claire shouted. “Oh, my dear daughter, don’t you love him to bits? I just know that Alex still loves you! Shouldn’t you be happy that I’m no longer against your relationship with him?”
Dorothy replied, “I probably would back then, but it’s different now, Mom.”
Beatrice added. “Mom, just forget about this. You keep changing your mind, going from divorce to remarriage in just a few days. You just love money, but it’s not like we’re poor! What are you even going to do with that much money?”
Claire said, “I’m just doing it for the both of you!”
Beatrice replied, “Well, we don’t need it!”
After being disliked by the two sisters, Claire felt frustrated to her core.
She then thought, ‘That bastard Alex must still love Dorothy. I remember just how much he liked her back then! He probably didn’t dare to admit it in public, but I’d definitely have a chance to persuade him if we talked alone.’
‘But my pride… Oh sheesh, how much is pride worth anyway? I don’t even mind grovelling at his feet just for him to give me City Salon.’
After such thoughts, Claire managed to cheer up.

Maya drove while Brittany called her son from the passenger’s seat.

Alex was at the meeting when he received the call. The meeting was similar to what Waltz had said, it just a mere meet and greet.
The shareholders, managers and CEOs of the subsidiary companies were present in a large meeting hall. Many had seen just how powerful Alex and Waltz were, so they showed absolute respect towards them. Moreover, some fighters had been slightly scornful of Lex since he knew no martial arts.
Fighters would tend to admire and worship the strong. Since Lex had no power nor skill, he basically built this business empire with the help of his three godchildren. However, now that Waltz had become the CEO, everything felt much more different. Moreover, Waltz’s man was almost as powerful as God itself.
Their power was enough to have everyone bow down for them.
Just then, a director said, “Mr. Rockefeller, you’re the president of the SCBA now, right? Their organization is based in Michigan all this while, so wouldn’t that mean that you’d have to stay in Michigan from now on?”
Alex’s identity as a grandmaster was no secret within the highest authority of Thousand Miles Conglomerate.
Alex shook his head. “I have a home here, so there’s no way I’d move to Michigan. If the headquarters of the SCBA can be built in Michigan, why can’t they move to California?”
The director slapped his own thigh. “Oh, right! God I’m so dumb, I really hadn’t thought about that!”
Another director said respectfully. “Grandmaster Alex, you mentioned that you could cure Frederick Duncan’s stage four stomach cancer, can you really do that?”
Alex took a glance at him and was able to identify the problem. “You have lung cancer.”
The middle-aged director approached Alex and knelt down. “Grandmaster Alex, you really are a miracle doctor, Hippocrates reborn! Please, save me! I, Beck Klein would be willing to be your slave from now on!”
Everyone was shocked.
They were already shocked that Beck had cancer, and became even more so when they realized Alex could cure cancer.
Not many of them had attended the SCBA Battles, so they didn’t know what exactly went down.
Everyone turned to look at Alex
‘If Alex could really cure cancer, wouldn’t that just be too good to be true? As business partners, we could definitely reap some benefits from this.’
“You don’t have to kneel before me. Stand back up now.” Alex said calmly, “You’re the director of Thousand Miles Conglomerate, so you’re part of this family too. Your cancer is just in its first stage, so it wouldn’t be much of a problem. Get me a pen and paper, I’ll just give you a prescription. Get the herbs thatI listed and give them to me. After I make them into proper medicine, you’ll definitely be cured.”
Beck was overjoyed to hear this, giving Alex several kowtows. He never felt an ounce of happiness ever since he’d been diagnosed with lung cancer.
Alex turned to everyone. “All of you here are brothers of Thousand Miles, please help Waltz as much as possible to manage this empire! I’m fairly skilled in medicine, so if you have any complications that hospitals are unable to cure, you can always look for me… But please keep this a secret to the public. Otherwise every cancer patient in the world would look for me and I would end up dying of exhaustion!”
Everyone stood up and raised their glasses.

The meet and greet ended cheerfully.
After everyone else had left, Waltz hopped on to Alex and gave him a big kiss. “I think you’re much more powerful than my position as the CEO, you’re the king of this empire.”

“My mom just came back. She found out that your godfather died, so she rushed home immediately.”

When Claire was on her way to Maple Villa, she was insanely confident in herself.
She had analyzed Alex and Dorothy’s relationship thoroughly.
From when they started dating in university until he came to live with them, she had remembered every single detail. This woman was extremely bigoted towards money, so she was able to recall all her memories just for money itself.
She could remember just how Alex took care of Dorothy when she was sick. She even remembered how Alex massaged Dorothy’s feet when she felt tired. His expression filled with love was definitely not just a mere act.
Back then, she saw Alex as just a mere loser for being willing to do such things for his woman. It’s like he didn’t have a man’s pride, as if he was willing to slave away for her.
However, her attitude was much different this time, she figured that this could be her biggest trump card.
‘There’s just no way that Alex could ever move on from my daughter.’
With this, she came to a conclusion that Alex didn’t admit to this just because others were around.
‘As long as I talk to him in private, he would definitely agree to get back together with Dorothy. He would give me anything that I ask for too!’
She knew Alex quite well, she knew that love was more important to him, compared to money.
“Hmph, he’s such a dumb*ss, but I guess that’s kind of cute!”

When Claire arrived at Maple Villa, she even started humming happily. Her voice was oddly melodious coming from someonelike her.
At the same time, Brittany and Maya arrived at the entrance to their area as well.
The two had gone to the supermarket and bought some groceries. As soon as they drove in, they noticed Claire sitting at their front gate.

The celebrity somehow found out about Lush Cosmetics’ scar removing cream and publicly announced her price because she couldn’t seem to get her hands on it. Even so, she still couldn’t buy even just one bottle.
Claire’s shock was just as strong as an earthquake. Although she disliked Brittany, she was still extremely impressed by how popular Brittany’s products had become.
She continued to stare at her screen, paying no attention to the people in the car. She thought that Alex had come home, which was why she followed them inside.
Brittany and Maya were still sitting in the car, looking at each other in confusion.
Maya lowered her voice. “Isn’t that Dorothy‘s mother? Why is she waiting at our gate? Look, she’s coming over.”
Brittany looked extremely upset, as if she had eaten a fly. She huffed and said, “I’d like to see what she’s up to.”
She opened the door and got out of the car.
When Claire noticed that the person getting out of the car was wearing heels, her heart dropped.
‘A woman?’
‘This isn’t what I originally planned.’
She immediately calmed herself down.
‘It’s alright, I just need to talk to Alex in private. I can definitely persuade him as long as I want to!’
However, what she saw next made her heart jump.

The woman who got out of the car was Brittany, who hadn’t been back for quite a while.
After realizing who it was, Claire almost wanted to run away and make an escape.
Brittany noticed her nervousness and smiled coldly as she approached Claire. “So, Ms. Bardot, why have you been waiting at my house?”
Claire clenched her fists to muster up more courage. She smiled and said, “Oh, hello, you just came back, my dear in-law, I… ”
Brittany interrupted her. “Stop right there, we’re no longer in-laws, don’t call me that.”
Claire smiled awkwardly. “Oh don’t say that. Once in-laws, always in-laws, right?”
Brittany’s expression darkened. “Claire Bardot, what are you even saying? My son has gotten a divorce with your daughter, so how are we still in-laws? Our family doesn’t have the luck to be your in-laws! Just tell me what you’re here for. But I’ll have you know that we don’t welcome you. ”
Claire insulted Brittany in all the ways she could in her mind.
However, she continued to put up a smile. “Well, I’m just here to talk to Alex.”
Brittany refused. “Talk to me instead!”
“Uhm… Well, alright! Our children’s divorced was just caused by a misunderstanding! I have wronged Alex in the past, so it ended in such a way. I noticed that both of them had been quite miserable after the divorce, so I’m starting to regret my decision. That’s why I’m suggesting for them to remarry. They’ve been through a lot, and it hasn‘ t been easy. I admit to my mistakes now, so please, my dear in-law, I promise to treat Alex as my own.”
Claire’s father was a professor and she had studied in university as well, so she definitely had a way with words.
Upon listening to this, Brittney‘s rage went down significantly. No one would ever got angry at someone who spoke nicely.
However, Brittany had never considered letting her son get back together with Dorothy. “What’s the point in changing things now? They’ve divorced, so why remarry? Do you think you can put a shattered mirror back together?”
Claire was quite a dramatic person and would do anything for money.
She slapped herself, looking extremely pitiful as she cried. “This is all my fault! The two children love each other so much, so deeply! I’ve watched them grow together when you were still in a coma. The one who interfered was Joanne!”
“When tragedy struck your family, the old lady just refused to let them get married. My daughter had to stab herself in the heart to be able to marry him! You have no idea how frightening it was. Alex had stabbed himself for her a few days ago too! These two just love each other too much!”

She glared at Claire. “And now you’re regretting your actions? Did you forget how you treated my son in the past?”

He didn’t earn a single penny, he even asked our family for money every single month! Do you know just how people gossiped about us behind our backs? They said that we’ve found a loser as our son-in-law! But my daughter is one of the prettiest girls in California.”
“Dorothy may not mind the insults, but I’m her mother and I felt upset for her! I’m a widow, and my daughter is finally becoming more successful now, yet my son-in-law did nothing but burden us! What do you expect me to do? But now that you’re awake, I’m not as upset anymore. Let’s just let the two children be. I can tell just how miserable Alex feels.”
Brittany was a reasonable person and she couldn’t bring herself to be harsh when Claire spoke in such a nice way.
She said, “You should go home first. I’ll discuss this with my son when he comes back.”
Maya, who was still in the car, felt her heart drop. She had a feeling that something bad was about to happen. She knew Claire more than Brittany did, and she had seen just how dramatic this woman can be. Moreover, this woman only likes money.
Just as she was getting worried, Alex and Waltz arrived at the villa.
The two were surprised to see Claire.
Waltz asked, “What are you doing here, Claire Bardot? Are you still trying to take our money?”
Brittany asked, “Alex, she suggested that you remarry with Dorothy. What do you say?”
Alex’s eyes widened.
Waltz, on the other hand, yelled. “Mom, don’t listen to her bullsh*t! Money is most important to this woman! She likes the rich and hates the poor. Of course she’d want them to remarry! She found out that Alex is rich now! What are you even thinking, Bardot? She even caused a ruckus back in City Salon a few hours ago!”
“She said that both City Salon and Thousand Miles Conglomerate are mutual property, and that Alex left the marriage without anything! She even told Alex to get lost. Realizing that all of that property was earned after the divorce, of course she would want them to remarry! You’re such a two faced b*tch! Dream on!”
“What?” Brittany was enraged, she finally realized that she has almost been tricked.
“Claire Bardot, I’ve never seen a woman as shameless as you are!”
In extreme rage, she slapped Claire right across the face.
