Ch. 126..130: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 126-130

Chapter 126: Chapter 126 – He paid the waiter to pour the drink on her

Not only Matilda but even Devin’s cheeks were red. They had not only kissed but also done the deed.

Instantly, he pulled Matilda into his arms, giving her a long, passionate kiss, while everyone applauded, understanding that the party had turned into an engagement party.

Everyone held glasses of wine to toast the success of their relationship except Sabrina. Daniel arrived and began to walk toward Robin. At the same time, the waitress who was serving the drinks, reached Lizzy and slipped. Nobody saw it in time and the drinks wet Lizzy’s clothes.

She gasped from the coldness, while her eyes dulled with embarrassment. Due to the loud music, most people had not noticed except the people close by.

"I’m sorry," the waiter began to apologize.

Sabrina was shocked and before she moved to her sister’s side Daniel got there and said roughly to the waitress,

"You already caused the mess. Clean up this place."

"Lizzy, I think Matilda might have some clothes here," Sabrina said, knowing there was no way to get the stains out of the dress. A cream dress stained with so much red wine was a glaring disaster.

Devin did not seem to like the idea and looked like he was in a hurry for something, saying and asking together, "Before you go change, can I have my delivery?"

Lizzy was upset that all he cared about was the package for his girlfriend and not about what had happened to her.

"You are so shameless. You won’t let me change up first?"

Daniel seemed unmoved by her pitiful form, saying seriously, "Why should I? My girlfriend is waiting in the car. Now where did you keep it?"

Lizzy shook her head in disappointment. "You are impossible."

Robin was equally upset by Daniel’s behavior wondering how he was going to win Lizzy’s heart as he wanted if he kept acting like a jerk.

Also, which girlfriend again was he talking about? Robin was about to ask when Daniel said to Lizzy,

"Let’s go."

He quickly wrapped his arm around Lizzy’s waist to prevent her from escaping and asked, "Where is it?"

Lizzy smiled bitterly. "In my brother’s car but I have the remote."

"Then let’s go." Daniel was already pulling her towards the entrance to the car park, his closeness giving her warmth from the cold emitted from the wetness of her beautiful dress.

However, she was saddened at his behavior, not seeing how his eyes were glued to her slim body outlined through the wet clothes clutching tightly on her.

She brought the dress out of the car and Daniel marveled with twinkling eyes, "It looks amazing. You deserve a tip."

He knew from the first dress she designed for Sabrina that she was remarkable but never thought she would give out her best when he mentioned it belonged to his girlfriend.

"Wear it for me to see."

"What?" Lizzy was confused since she expected his girlfriend to wear it for her to see if there was a need for adjustment. She was certain that his girlfriend might be of the same size as her but there would still be a need for some adjustments.

Daniel was not surprised by the shocked look on her face, going on to explain,

"Well, I have to make sure that it looks good on a human, not on those dummies. Don’t get me wrong. The dress might be pretty but might not look good when she puts it on, just like in magazines."

Lizzy understood his point that model figures were different and the way a dress looked on them might not be exactly how they’d look on the buyer.

However, since the girlfriend was around, why stress herself?

"Since your girlfriend is here, let her wear it and I will make the necessary adjustments to give her the perfect look."

Daniel disagreed. "What if she hates it in the first instance because it doesn’t fit properly? She is a diva and I can’t afford anything going wrong. I want to see it myself and as your client, you are not supposed to refuse."

Lizzy smiled bitterly. To think that she even wanted to give him a chance. Nothing good could ever come out of a Playboy.

"Fine, I will fit it in the ladies’ room but please tell Matilda or Sabrina to get me a dress. Just anything."

Lizzy didn’t care about looking good or anything. She just wanted to get out of the wet dress and feel warm and comfortable again.

"Of course," Daniel smiled mischievously, before escorting Lizzy to the ladies’ room but waited at the entrance. He did not attempt to contact Matilda or Sabrina to get the dress for Lizzy.

When she was done changing, she held her wet dress in her hand and asked,

"Does it look good enough?"

Daniel took her wet dress and threw it in the bin. Lizzy’s eyes widened when he said, "You don’t think those stains would be out do you?"

Lizzy pressed her lips together and did not say a word in response when he added,

"It looks better than I thought. You look stunning. Here," he brought out a necklace from his suit pocket. "I got this on my way back from France."

Lizzy was a specialist when it came to fashion and she knew how expensive that necklace was. She wondered why he was making her wear it. "That is expensive and..."

"Well let me see for myself," Daniel clipped the necklace around her slender neck. "God, you look gorgeous," he exclaimed.

Lizzy smiled, grateful that he appreciated her work at least.

"Now that you’ve seen it, where are my clothes? I have to get back to the party."

Daniel smiled and pulled her by the waist, the same way he pulled her out of the party. "Which other way would I get you to accept a gift from me? I paid the waiter to pour the drink on you so let’s go."

Lizzy felt her feet heavy at his confession with so many emotions playing in her heart. Daniel was impatient to flaunt her around and tightened his hand around her waist.

"Do you want the party to be over before they see how fabulous you look?"

Chapter 127: Chapter 127 – one-man, one-woman kind of thing.

They got there at a time when most people were dancing. Lizzy was still in so much shock till she did not realize they were back to where the party was being held.

Judging from how a lot of guys kept eyeing her lustfully, the playboy Daniel knew that should he leave her for even a minute, someone would just grab and take her away from him.

"Since you accepted my gift, you have to dance with only me," Daniel demanded.

He was used to having his way with money but he knew that money meant nothing for a woman like Lizzy for which reason he did not know how to go about things.

Lizzy stared at him with a frown on her face. "You said your girlfriend is in your car."

"I don’t have a girlfriend so will you be my girlfriend," Daniel asked directly, Lizzy glared at him again. He was so handsome in that gray suit he wore but was also so unromantic.

Whereas Lizzy found it to be funny and just as Matilda advised, she was not going to give in easily to his advances, though he kind of took her off guard by making her design her dress which he bought for her.

"Hahaha, you are so funny but you aren’t my type." Lizzy had to speak a little more loudly due to the music playing in the auditorium.

"What is your type? I can change," Daniel said seriously and Lizzy recalled what Matilda said that they do change if they find the right woman. She began to question herself if she was indeed the right woman for him and thought to prob.

"I like the one-man, one-woman kind of thing if you ask me."

"Well, I haven’t fucked a woman for two weeks and that is my greatest achievement. It used to be two a night," Daniel said honestly, Lizzy was shocked.

She was never into men but didn’t think a man could open up his sexual life to someone he doesn’t have anything with just like that.

"You are gross."

"I’m being honest and I’m usually not like this with other women. You are the first I’ve had this kind of conversation with."

Lizzy felt her cheeks warming up when he said those things to her but what if they were all just words of flattery?

Playboys never lacked the right words and they knew what to say to get a woman into their bed.

"And is that supposed to make me feel special?" Lizzy asked sarcastically, Daniel frowned. He knew that if he tried to hide anything from her, it would not be difficult for her to find out later. It was better to be honest since she was a sister to his best friend’s ex-wife.

"Maybe, it’s to show you how serious I am. I’ve never had a girlfriend before but with you, I want to take the risk," Daniel opened up and spoke. Lizzy was so shocked that he was asking her to be his girlfriend in such a fanatic way.

"You are so raw," she said of her observation but was somehow flattered that he was interested in her and like he said, had not been with a woman for two weeks. Perhaps if he was able to extend it to three months, she would be able to give him a chance.

"It’s better than being fake. Let’s dance," Daniel said and pulled her close to his chest. Since it was time for ballroom dancing, he did not want to miss the opportunity of holding her so close.

Lizzy was surprised by his forceful gestures but since she has never been in any relationship, she felt that all men were just like that.

"I will think about it," she finally said, making Daniel smile as he twirled her around. When he pulled her close again, he said in her ears,

"We can start with a date at my house. I will cook for you."

Lizzy shivered from the warm air invasion on her ears, her knees wobbled but she tried to take control of herself, laughing awkwardly,

"Haha, you cook?"

"Be the judge, accept the challenge," Daniel said in a soft tone with his eyes boring into hers, she swallowed tightly.

It was a great risk going into the house of a man who was not her brother. His closeness was also making her very uncomfortable as she finally said,

"I will think about it but I have to join Sabrina now."

She took advantage when he twirled her around but Daniel quickly pulled her to his chest again, saying,

"Robin is taking care of her. I don’t think she needs you."

Daniel was so engrossed in his conversation with Lizzy, such that he did not hear it when Devin walked to where they were. His eyes were covered with both frost and surprise.

"Lizzy, I’ve been looking for you, where have you been and what happened to your dress? Did you not say that he ordered this one for his girlfriend?" Devin asked, startling Lizzy as she created a gap between her and Daniel.

He was dancing with Matilda earlier and she excused herself to use the ladies’ room. Looking around to see if his sisters were fine, he was surprised to see Lizzy with Daniel, wearing the dress she made for his girlfriend.

It was obvious that she was afraid of her brother. Daniel was not liking it and said to Devin, "I bought it for her."

Devin wanted to keep him away from Lizzy but his father’s words rang in his ears, all he could say was, "You again. What do you want?"

The fact that he gave the dress to Lizzy, Devin already guessed that he did not have a girlfriend as he said.

Daniel was unfazed, not afraid of Devin. If he wanted a fight, Daniel was ready to give it to him. "I want to date your sister. What do you think?" Daniel asked in a casual tone, Devin felt irritated and responded,

"I think not."

Lizzy felt like her heart fell into her stomach at the way Devin outrightly rejected the idea.

"Then you aren’t being fair," Daniel challenged him, afraid that he would influence Lizzy negatively. The girl had already shied away from Daniel because of her brother.

Devin felt like Daniel had to go and thank his father, as his tone softened while he stared at Lizzy and clarified,

"I said I think not because it’s not my decision to make." Lizzy was spellbound and so was Daniel.

Chapter 128: Chapter 128 – Begging his Ex-wife to dance with him.

Lizzy had no idea if the engagement was the reason for Devin’s open-mindedness or if Matilda had advised him this way.

Whatever it was, she was even more carried away by Daniel’s request to Devin, "So, Lizzy, I’m asking you in front of your brother. Go on a date for me. I’d like to cook for you."

Devin could not help chuckling at the playboy who claimed to know how to cook. How irresponsible of him to try to impress a woman this way. Did he not think of the consequence of messing up if he was not able to do it well?

"I wonder what you want to cook for her but you better not lure her to your house to seduce her," Devin warned Daniel with the bridge of seriousness.

Daniel smiled. He knew that no one would believe that he knew how to cook. Only Robin had tasted his food and complimented it to be very nice.

Devin recalled him even emptying the plate of pasta he made for him. As for taking advantage of Lizzy, Daniel was not thinking in that direction.

"I’m a gentleman, Devin. I’ve never forced or seduced any woman before and where is Matilda?" He asked, wondering if Devin was not afraid of somebody hitting on Matilda by this time.

As Daniel looked around, he saw Matilda smiling at Robin and knew that if he could use it to blow up Devin’s anger, he’d leave them alone. "There she is with Robin, looking so beautiful."

Devin traced Daniel’s gaze when he felt the latter was just trying to provoke him but as soon as he saw Matilda shaking Robin’s hand and also saw her giving something that looked like a paper to Robin, his jealousy arose like the cedars of Lebanon.

Devin glowered instantly but still rebuked Daniel, "hey, be careful, she’s my fiancé."

Daniel was shocked, wondering when. It was just a few days ago and Daniel had arrived late at the party so he did not know.

Feeling like Devin was just telling him of what he intended to do, he wanted to tease Daniel some more to hasten it but Daniel was already gone, hastening towards Robin and Matilda’s direction where she was now saying something to Sabrina when Lizzy asked Daniel,

"You like her?" She felt unease when Daniel mentioned Matilda again, feeling like he indeed had feelings for the latter. Daniel frowned in confusion, asking,

"Who?"

"Matilda," Lizzy revealed while looking intensely at him.

"Not the way you think. I’ll let you in on a secret. Robin saw how your brother looked at her and told me to tease him. Matilda is beautiful but not my type," Daniel smiled and said before he frowned a little, wondering if Lizzy was jealous.

From her behavior towards him, it did not look like she was one to care if he was with any woman since she didn’t want him in the first place.

"What is your type?" Lizzy asked him, making him surprised at how interested she was in that line of discussion.

Daniel was always honest with her from the beginning and he did not see himself changing that approach any time soon.

He was not like Robin who was hiding his feelings because Zayla was carrying his child. Daniel was a free man.

"You. So, do we have a date next week Saturday? I’ll finish cooking and come pick you up," he said seriously.

He wanted to prove to Lizzy that the things she heard about him were true but he could also change for the better if not the best. He still did not expect her to accept the invitation so he was amazed when she asked him,

"Then how would I know that you indeed cooked the food?"

Daniel smiled broadly; it enhanced his handsome features. "Right. I’ll come and pick you up, and give you a chair in the kitchen while you watch me cook, so how about that?" He asked with a teasing smile.

"I’ll love to see you cook," Lizzy smiled and agreed. Daniel felt like he won a business deal and was determined to make the best out of their first date.

"Saturday morning it is," Daniel confirmed with a satisfied grin before he added, "I wonder when your brother will get married and give you your freedom. You looked so afraid of him."

Lizzy realized that Daniel was indeed late and thought to give him an update on everything that happened before he arrived.

"Well, for your appointment or disappointment, Devin and Matilda got engaged before you arrived."

Daniel’s eyes narrowed and he felt excited, instantly flung with the understanding of the reason why Devin gave his sister the freedom to decide on whether or not she wanted to go out with him.

"That is wonderful news. Maybe we should also get married very soon," he teased Lizzy, whose eyes widened.

"I know you are kidding," she rolled her eyes and spoke. Daniel wanted to say that he was serious but what if he ruined what he managed to build so far? They should at least go on the date first.

They got distracted by some odd sounds trying to outshine the music. Not only Daniel but some other people were awed when Devin grabbed Robin by the collar, asking, "What did you take from my fiancé?"

***

Matilda was thinking of a way to properly thank Robin for his help. Excusing herself to use the washroom, she went to write a note of appreciation in her father’s study.

By the time she returned, Devin was with Lizzy and Daniel so she saw the perfect opportunity to give Robin the note.

Robin was at the table with Sabrina and seeing other couples dancing, he requested, "I feel ashamed to have never danced with you after our wedding day."

Sabrina ignored the request hanging all over his words and chuckled, "That was a miserable dance. Not worthy of the memory."

She recalled how Robin frowned throughout the dance and even intentionally messed up some of the steps to embarrass her.

Robin looked at her remorsefully and said from the depth of his heart, "I’m begging you to dance with me, Sabrina."

Chapter 129: Chapter 129 – It’s never too late for change, Sabrina.

Sabrina took pity on him and wanted to accept the invitation to dance again but then, when she remembered how Robin did not blink when she asked for the divorce and agreed to it because of Zayla, her heart hardened.

"I don’t feel like dancing."

Robin’s heart dropped into his stomach. Opportunities like this were like once in a lifetime. He would not be able to get it again unless there was another event that was not business because, at that venture, Sabrina would be too busy to honor it. This was his only chance and he did not want to miss it.

"Please, just this once. For the sake of our little bond," Robin pleaded helplessly, pointing to her stomach. The dress she wore hid her pregnancy well so that little bump did not show at all.

Sabrina did not want anyone to see her dancing with her ex-husband but from Robin’s insistence on it, she was afraid that he would continue asking.

"Just this once."

Robin smiled and rose to his feet but as soon he held his hand out to Sabrina, his shoulder collided with someone and he felt a paper being stuffed into the palm of his left hand.

"Sorry, I wasn’t watching where I was going," Matilda apologized. However, Robin felt there was more to it and what Matilda did was not an accident so he decided to engage her a little after hiding the note away.

"It’s okay. Congratulations on your engagement."

"Thank you," Matilda smiled before she turned to Sabrina, saying apologetically,

"I don’t mean to neglect you but I’m having fun with my fiancé." The truth was, she was speaking in irony because Robin looked so good together with Sabrina.

Robin recalled that the pregnant woman should have her supper since it would be too late by the time they left the party.

"Matilda, can you do me a favor?"

"Sure," Matilda said with a smile. Robin smiled back and said,

"I want you to have Sabrina’s meals served in your room by yourself. Since the party started, I have not allowed her to drink anything. The fruit juice they gave her before was good. I would like more for her."

Matilda felt guilty for not thinking about Sabrina’s safety when Mara was hiding somewhere. She needn’t ask Robin’s reason for being so careful since they both knew that Mara was still in the picture.

"Don’t worry, I will take care of it," Matilda was saying when Devin grabbed Robin by the collar, yelling and attracting attention, if not for the loud music playing in the background.

"What did you take from my fiancé?" Devin demanded furiously. He did not trust Robin a bit. If he could be married and be fucking around, what was the assurance that he would not be messing with Matilda too?

"Excuse me?" Robin pretended not to know what he was talking about and asked, "Are you not afraid of getting your father-in-law upset if you continue behaving like an animal?"

Devin’s hands on his collar dropped instantly but the fury remained in his eyes whiles he asked sternly,

"What were you telling her right now?"

Robin did not see anything wrong in telling him since it involved his sister. "I’m not comfortable with the crowd. There are lots of people I don’t know so I asked her to serve Sabrina in her room. Is that too much to ask?"

Devin was slightly ashamed at how fast he judged and tried to cover it up, saying, "No but I don’t want you talking to her."

Robin did not mind obeying his command at this moment since he was engaged to Matilda. "I will respect that so can you pass the message to her for me?" He asked sarcastically, Devin felt embarrassed as Matilda looked at him with disappointment.

"Devin, he was just asking for food for Sabrina," Matilda said in annoyance. She would not have kept the note a secret from Devin if he did not trust his best friend foolishly. That was his only mistake.

"I saw you shaking his hand," Devin pointed out when Matilda replied,

"He was just congratulating us on our engagement. Isn’t he partly part of the family? I wonder why talking to him seems like a sin to you."

Dismay lingered with each word Matilda spoke and Devin found himself becoming guiltier. He held her hand and kissed the back of it while saying, "I’m sorry Matilda, I never meant it that way."

Matilda pulled her hand away in annoyance and said politely, "I will get food for Sabrina."

Devin was embarrassed and said, "I’m coming with you."

He had to find a way to calm her since his level of jealousy and possessiveness was too much for her to handle at this moment.

As soon as they left, Robin pulled Sabrina into his arms and she felt uneasy but when she realized it was because of the dance she already agreed to, she slowly relaxed.

"So, when was the last time you danced with anyone?" Robin casually asked though he knew how his wife was never the sociable type.

He pulled her so close to his chest that Sabrina was afraid that should she lift her head, their lips might crash, thereby remaining there and moving to the rhythm of the music.

"Robin, we’ve been divorced for how many months? I’ve been too busy to dance and I remember the last party I went to, I was selling jewelry," she responded sarcastically but Robin smiled and praised her,

"And you did an amazing job. I regret that I didn’t know you had such skills."

Their closeness and the way his voice vibrated through his heartbeat sent warmth through Sabrina, which she did not want to get accustomed to and yet, Robin would not even twirl her around so she would take advantage to create a gap between them.

"There is a lot you don’t know about me, Robin, so much you will never know," Sabrina said sadly and Robin responded with remorse,

"I will make it my mission to know more about the woman I neglected so much."

Sabrina shook her head, knowing there was no way for him to make it up to her. "Don’t you think it’s too late for that?"

"It’s never too late for change, Sabrina," Robin said softly with certainty.

Their peaceful moment was distracted by a shrill voice, "Robin! Is this why you refused to bring me along?" It was Zayla.

Chapter 130: Chapter 130 – Robin’s timely intervention

Zayla had been at the party for a while, watching them from afar. There was not so much to be angry about until Robin began to dance with Sabrina.

Zayla’s sinister heart could not take it. How could a divorced couple still look so perfect together?

Also, she now firmly believed her father’s observation that Robin was in love with Sabrina because not for once did he move away from her since they began to dance.

He was holding her close like a treasure, afraid of losing her if he created even the slightest gap between them.

Zayla could not take it. She was on a mission but this was painful. After all the love she has given Robin, he still could not love her even when they lived together and was shamelessly chasing after his ex-wife.

She bit her lower lips so hard, it drew blood as she began to walk towards the couple who looked so perfect together.

"Robin! Is this why you refused to bring me along?"

Robin’s fury made her heart pound very hard, she felt it drop into her rib cage. Zayla expected him to drag her out to not cause a scene at the General’s daughter’s birthday party but how wrong she was.

Robin felt that if he dragged her out to address the matter, it would send the impression that he was doing something wrong.

Secondly, Zayla disobeyed him and he didn’t like that as well. Robin liked to be in control, except when he was with his ex-wife since he had no power over her.

Robin’s voice was like the winter breeze, so chilly, it made Zayla uncomfortable because of Sabrina’s presence. She did not want the bitch to win but that was exactly what it seemed once again.

"I also made it clear to you that she has as much right to me as you do so you have no right causing a scene."

Sabrina was shocked that Robin had told Zayla that but her mood was already ruined and she went back to her table.

As soon as her butt touched the luxury chair, a waitress brought her healthy food with fruit juice.

Sabrina was a bit skeptical, wondering how Matilda got the food ready so fast and why she was not here herself.

She knew that Matilda was not a maid but her best friend. However, Matilda always treated her as special and this was her territory, which Sabrina had no control over.

"Is this from Matilda?" She asked curiously, whiles looking at the mouth-watering food, she did not realize how the waitress panicked at the question before gathering herself and responding sweetly,

"Yes, Ma’am." If using Matilda’s name would cause the Miss to eat, then that was exactly what it had to be.

Sabrina heard when Robin told Matilda to serve her food in her room. If there was a problem, couldn’t Matilda have told her? Maybe she was just busy with her dad or something of that sort.

"Robin, it’s not fair. You don’t spend time with me," Zayla’s shrill voice interrupted Sabrina’s thoughts. She forced herself to not look that way, encouraging herself that whatever was happening between them was equally none of her business.

"Because you left your parent’s house. Did I force you?" Robin asked and Zayla was nervous. She never thought he’d take it to heart and hoped he wouldn’t begin to read meanings into it, the fact that she did not want him to touch her fake bump.

Robin instinctively looked around while he spoke, looking for Sabrina and hoping that he did not upset her as he promised her father but she was nowhere to be found.

He looked to the table around which they sat before and saw her holding a drink when Matilda was not there.

With speed, he ran to her and grabbed hold of her right hand from behind before the drink entered her mouth.

At the same time, he signaled Daniel over. His movement caused some of the drink to spill on Sabrina’s dress, making her annoyed. "Robin, what are you doing?"

Zayla began to feel hot where she stood but at the same time, she felt so cold, his feet froze and she could not move. It was as if Robin had gotten a hint of their plans or was he just suspicious? Why would he be?

"Sabrina, who gave you that food?" Robin frowned and asked, while looking angrily at the food in front of her.

He specifically instructed Matilda to serve Sabrina’s food in her room so that no other waiter would be opportune to touch her food.

It was the reason why Robin felt uncomfortable with the food, though it was a healthy one.

Sabrina began looking for the waitress who was just about to disappear behind Robin when he caught her by the arm, making her tray fall.

"Why did you give her this food?" Robin asked the waitress.

From the burning of his furious eyes, the waitress panicked. "We are serving everyone at the party," she tried to compose herself but could not help lowering her head to avoid that piercing gaze.

Robin might be handsome but when he was angry, no one could behold his fury. Sabrina was smart enough to realize that something was off with what the waitress had told her when she asked about the food.

"But you said that Matilda asked you to give it to me. I asked you," Sabrina stated in annoyance, at the same time Robin let go of her arm and she dropped the drink on the table.

She no longer cared about the spill in her dress from what she was perceiving to be happening.

"Who gave you that food? Have you eaten it?" Matilda rushed over angrily upon seeing the food in front of Sabrina. Sabrina was about to explain when Robin said,

"Matilda, she’s hungry, please take her to your room."

Since Robin was there, Matilda knew that he would take care of everything and agreed,

"Okay."

Matilda left with Sabrina and Zayla gritted her teeth, just as she turned to leave when Robin called after her,

"Zayla, we have not finished talking and since you came for the party, you should stay."
