Ch. 406..410: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 406-410

Chapter 406: Chapter 406 – Unbelievable

"It’s not my place to say this, but I think there’s a big problem with JC Minerals," Jacob said, Robin frown as he lifted himself slightly.

Jacob realized that he wanted to free himself from the babies and helped to carry them into their separate cots.

"What exactly and how did you know?" Robin asked as he walked into the closet and picked a shirt. It was good that Sabrina was in the kitchen.

"I heard her sister talking on the phone with her father. There is an issue with a customer threatening to sue them and demanding compensation of a billion dollars. I don’t know the details, but it doesn’t seem to be good," Jacob explained. Robin’s frown deepened.

"How hasn’t my father-in-law informed me?" He muttered. He must have taken some time off work, but some documents still got to his house or through emails.

He just wasn’t physically present but was still active. This was the reason for his confusion as to why Cobby had not confided in him.

Two days ago, he even came to visit with the general, for which reason Robin could not get his head around the issue.

"I guess he doesn’t want to disturb the latest father in town," Jacob shrugged and asked again, "When are you announcing the twins?"

Robin let out a breath he didn’t know he was holding. "I was thinking in two weeks’ time, but from what you are telling me now, I’m just wondering whether or not to put a hold on it. Someone could directly be targeting them, you know?"

Jacob agreed with his twin brother. It was very easy to deal with smart people. "I agree that you hold on until all your enemies are dead. No one except family and friends know that your wife has given birth, and that is a good thing."

He paused and added, "That is one part of the problem."

Robin was impatient and asked, "you mean there is more?"

Jacob was looking here and there as if he didn’t want to let it all out but also felt it was too hard to keep this to himself. "You know I promised to watch out for you and my sister-in-law."

"Yes," Robin agreed as Jacob revealed further,

"During my investigations, I paid somebody to keep an eye on the prisoner Zayla."

Robin was instantly nervous, feeling that something bad must have happened. "And what did you find out?" He asked seriously, Jacob swallowed tightly and revealed,

"There is a record that she died from injuries to her organs due to the torture she suffered."

Robin shook his head in disapproval. "That can’t be true. She was nursed back to life. The doctor said she was fine."

Jacob’s lips curled up at the corner. "That is true, and I also thought there was something fishy to it, so I paid someone to investigate further. And guess what?"

"What?" Robin asked hastily. Jacob took a deep breath before revealing,

"She managed to escape from prison by faking her own death. I suspect that she had help from someone, and it’s possible that some prison wardens were bribed. I’m still trying to gather more information on the situation."

Robin’s face paled. The only woman who made Sabrina so uncomfortable was Zayla. Sabrina never feared other women much, but she disliked Zayla because she was the first woman to get Robin’s attention and was doted on by him.

Although Robin had treated Sabrina far better than he ever treated Zayla, he was certain that Sabrina would not be happy if she heard this news.

Jacob patted him on the shoulder and assured him, "Don’t worry. Let me handle it. I will work on it with Daniel and Devin. I just want you to be aware."

Robin glanced at the babies sleeping peacefully in the cot, swearing in his heart to never allow any evil to come close to them.

"I’m grateful for your help, but what about your relationship with Laura?" Robin asked. He knew how busy Jacob was, trying to move the head office of his company in California to New York City and also wanted him to settle down with a woman soon.

Jacob forced a smile as he had been investigating Laura secretly. "I need to take my time, bro. That girl is not as simple as she looks."

"Yes, I know she’s very tough," Robin agreed. He understood the agency’s rules to not give him any background story about Laura and never tried to investigate her.

After all, her personal records were highly classified and couldn’t be accessed easily.

"It’s not just about being tough. She had a horrible past and is out for revenge. I can’t date a person with so many secrets," Jacob shook his head and added, "the things I know, I found out for myself, and they are things she would never tell me herself."

Robin realized that he and his twin brother had a lot in common, and one of which was digging out information.

They would always go to any length to satisfy their curiosity. "The details?" Robin asked. Jacob shook his head and said,

"I don’t want to bother you. You already have so much on your hands." Robin wasn’t pleased with the response and insisted,

"But I want to know. Don’t forget that she works for me."

Jacob let out an assuring smile and said to him, "I doubt it would affect her job here. That woman doesn’t have feelings. It was all taken away by the people who hurt and took everything from her, and it would not be easy to win her heart."

"So, are you giving up? Does that mean the person who hurt her was someone she loved or held in high esteem?" Robin asked curiously. Jacob couldn’t hide it from him any longer and revealed,

"No, I won’t give up on her, but I need to give her time. The man she fell in love with took everything from her."

Jacob shook his head and continued, "She was only seventeen and the man, a secret service agent, used her to gather information about her family, which he then used to wipe them out."

"She fell in love with him, but to him, she was just a job," Jacob said bitterly. But Robin could tell that there was more to the story...

Chapter 407: Chapter 407 - I forbid you from lying to me

"She fell in love with him, but to him, she was just a job," Jacob stated bitterly. But Robin could tell that there was more to the story and asked seriously,

"This is more serious than I thought. You mean that her whole family was killed?"

"Yes, by a man who claimed to love her. He thought he had killed her also, when he shot her in the chest, missing her heart by a millimeter. Her death was faked by the man who found her."

"He is the same person who owns the agency she currently works for. Her death was faked and she was given a new identity. Her real name is Genesis Clide."

Robin froze at the mention of the name, as he remembered it vividly. "Wait a minute. You mean that she is the first daughter of the late Governor Gershon Clide? The governor who was murdered with his family six years ago?"

That news took the world by storm and the perpetrators were never found. It was the reason why Robin recalled it. The news arrested the media waves for months with all the investigations carried to no avail.

The pain Jacob was trying to hide from before, became visible in his eyes. "Yes," Jacob agreed.

It had cost him a fortune to get that information from Laura’s agency’s archives but to him, it was all worth it. If he didn’t have that information, he would have given up on Laura, thinking that she was being weird.

It was understandable that she had too much pain buried inside and it wasn’t easy for her to let it all out but neither could she let it go.

Robin let out a frustrated sigh before he suggested,

"Why don’t you involve her in these investigations of yours? I believe that if you relate to her on such matters, it might touch a sensitive spot and who knows, she might let it out."

Jacob swallowed the pain like a man. It wasn’t easy for him after he got the information and couldn’t try to imagine how Laura coped with it all these years.

No wonder she was the best in her badge. She trained harder than the lot because she didn’t just want to hunt down only the man who took everything from her but the whole agency as well. And that would be after her early retirement in a few years’ time.

"I will try but I never planned to give up anyway. I just need to have time for her," Jacob explained and added, "the files of the so-called ex-boyfriend are highly encrypted. Thus, no matter how much I pay, I get nothing."

Robin recalled Peter and said, "Alright. Just do what you must but I think I can get someone to help you. Daniel is great but this guy is a Russian government hacker so he is more equipped. I will talk to him first before I link you up," Robin volunteered.

Jacob was grateful and smiled. "Thank you but don’t forget about JC Minerals. I..."

"What’s wrong with JC Minerals?" Sabrina asked from the entrance. This was the first time she had seen Jacob in their room and she wasn’t very comfortable.

However, hearing him mention her company was enough for her to understand that whatever had brought him to their bedroom must be very serious.

"Sorry, sister-in-law, I was just leaving," Jacob said and hastened out. But Sabrina was suspicious and asked Robin, "What’s going on with JC Minerals?"

Robin was confused, as he hadn’t fully digested everything concerning Laura. He wasn’t sure whether he should let her in on the truth or continue to hide it from her for a while.

"He was just discussing some problems with his business and made a comparison with JC Minerals," Robin lied, as he decided to do so until he found out the details. He didn’t think it was right to make her panic out of nothing.

However, Sabrina had known her husband for too long; she could see it in his eyes. "You are lying to me. I can feel it," Sabrina said seriously, disappointed that he was trying to hide it from her.

Robin felt that she was right. The things he kept from her were all because of her pregnancy, and now that the babies were out, it wasn’t right to continue keeping them away from her.

Swallowing tightly, he decided to come clean. "My queen, you are right. I lied and I’m sorry about that. Honestly, there are a couple of things going on with JC Minerals, but I don’t have the details. The information Jacob gave me was by eavesdropping, so I don’t know how authentic it is."

Sabrina accepted his apology, though she didn’t voice it, and insisted, "I still want to know."

"He overheard Lizzy on the phone with your dad about someone threatening to sue the company for a billion dollars," said Robin. Sabrina’s mind traveled back to a few months ago.

"It must be that woman again," she said thoughtfully. Robin curiously asked, "Which woman?"

"Remember the one I told you about sometime before the kidnapping?" Sabrina asked as Robin recalled the incident vividly. He had wanted to help, but Sabrina told him she could handle it and would only involve him if it was completely necessary.

"Yes. You said she was making accusations of you selling her inferior jewelry," Robin recalled. Sabrina nodded her head in agreement.

"Exactly. For months, I never heard from her again."

"So how can you be sure that it’s her?" Robin asked curiously, trying to make sense of the situation.

"I don’t know, but that was the exact amount she mentioned at that time. I just didn’t tell you because I never intended to pay her," Sabrina said honestly. Robin already had someone in mind and said to her,

"I will get to the bottom of it but there is something else you should know. Please sit down."

Sabrina obeyed as Robin revealed, "I knew this for a long time but I didn’t tell you because of the pregnancy. I would still prefer though that you remain in the dark and be happy."

Sabrina was already uneasy but she was also curious. "I want to know. I forbid you from lying to me," she said seriously, Robin took a deep breath and revealed,

"Martin and Mara didn’t die. They bribed their way out. I still have the detailed video of it on my phone. Matilda is aware but not Lizzy. We kept it from you because we didn’t want you to worry."

Robin did not regret telling her but from the way the color drained from her face, he could not help being disturbed. As expected, Sabrina asked,

"What about Zayla? Is she still in prison?" From her pale look, Robin was now at a loss if he should tell her the truth about Zayla or not.

Chapter 408: Chapter 408 – Robin’s Warning to the Twins

"Her father is still in prison, but she faked her death and escaped. Jacob found out recently and he came to tell me about it," Robin said, his unwavering eyes on his wife as she turned white.

Whether it was from fear or shock, it disturbed Robin greatly, and he pulled her comfortingly into his arms.

"Robin, if anything happens to our children..." Sabrina was about to say, when Robin cut her off and hugged her tighter.

"Nothing would happen to you or our children for as long as we remain vigilant. Don’t worry about anything. I will take care of it," he assured her seriously. Sabrina nodded her head and replied,

"I hope so. Please keep me updated."

Robin’s gaze on her turned into one of adoration. "I will, but I miss you so much," he cooed into her ears, and her body shivered from excitement.

"I miss you too," Sabrina responded shyly. They hadn’t been intimate since she delivered the twins, and though it still wasn’t time for intimacy, at least they’ve had both light and intense kisses.

Robin’s hands were all over her body, caressing every inch of her skin. This simple action awakened Sabrina’s sensuality, contrary to the complaints she heard from other women pertaining to how their libido dropped after childbirth.

"How long do we have before I can go down again?" Robin asked mischievously.

Sabrina’s cheeks reddened. She was glad that he still felt attracted to her, just as he did during her pregnancy, but sadly, it wasn’t time yet.

"We can only find out after our next check," she moaned when he took her lips passionately, his fingers massaging her full breast carefully to not spill any milk.

"And...when is that?" Robin asked as he grabbed her hand and placed it on his erected manhood.

Sabrina pulled away instantly and spoke jokingly, "Robin, I still have some belly fat. Let me lose them first, and my stretch marks are horrible."

She knew that Robin never had problems with her stretch marks but couldn’t help feeling uneasy about them.

"They are beautiful, and I honestly can’t wait to announce our marriage to the world. Can’t you get a slightly bigger wedding gown?" Robin asked seriously. Sabrina was too obsessed with the gown she selected and doesn’t want any changes done to it.

Before Sabrina could respond, Savanah was bawling in her cot. Robin sighed and shook his head as Sabrina went to pick her up, so she wouldn’t wake her brother with her screams.

Robin shook his head and half-jokingly warned the bawling baby, "If you continue to disturb our romantic moments, I will send you to your room and have Grandma Margaret take care of you. Or you share Grandma Cecilia’s room."

Sabrina had insisted on sharing their room with the twins because of their demand for breast milk, and Robin allowed it for bonding moments’ sake. However, it seemed these twins knew exactly when to cry.

"For the sake of her breastmilk, let’s endure it a little," Sabrina pleaded. The twins’ room was very cute, and she loved it, but could not bear being away from them. Robin was not liking all the distraction, as he wanted his wife’s attention.

"They are not being fed exclusively breastmilk, so what could go wrong?" He asked. He wasn’t annoyed but wanted to make his opinion known.

Sabrina felt that he was being childish and coaxed him, "Oh my king, stop being a big baby."

Robin could still not allow this little girl to have her way and insisted,

"As soon as you lifted her into your arms, she stopped crying. It wasn’t as if she was hungry or her diaper was soiled. We should move them to their rooms before it becomes too late," he warned seriously, but Sabrina chuckled, finding his words amusing.

"Before it becomes too late or so you can have time to get down and dirty?"

Robin held her waist from the back as he gazed down at the little girl in Sabrina’s arms. She was so cute like her mother, his resolves broke but he insisted,

"I guess that is my legal right. You have no idea how much I miss you," he kissed the top of Sabrina’s head, before kissing the sleeping baby on the lips.

"So you are fighting for my attention with your kids?" Sabrina asked teasingly. Robin shrugged,

"There’s nothing wrong with that either."

He suddenly recalled something, paused, and asked, "but is there a way for you to find out the details about what is happening at your Company? Let me know how I can help."

He didn’t want the problems to get worse before it was brought to his attention. Sabrina could not help but agree with him.

"Dad might not want to talk about it, but let me speak to Lizzy," Sabrina said, picked up her phone, and dialed Lizzy’s number while still holding the sleeping baby in her arms.

"Hi Brina," Lizzy said from the end of the line, but Sabrina could feel that she had been crying and was instantly flung with worry, asking,

"Lizzy, what is the problem?" The deafening silence that welcomed her question was overwhelming, and she was about to speak again before Lizzy responded,

"It’s nothing. So why are you calling?" She smiled at the end of the line, but Sabrina felt it was forced and was even more disturbed about it.

Lizzy, please tell me what’s wrong," Sabrina insisted, fearing that something had happened to their father. He hadn’t had a heart attack in months, which was a good sign, but Lizzy’s silence was terrifying.

Finally, she spoke from the other end of the line, but it wasn’t what Sabrina had expected.

"Please let me talk to Robin," Lizzy said. Sabrina was disappointed. Lizzy always confided in her, but now she wanted to speak to Robin?

"Lizzy, you’re scaring me. Why do you want to talk to Robin when I’m the one who called you?" Sabrina spoke in a disappointed tone, but Lizzy didn’t respond. She even thought that Lizzy had hung up, but then she heard sniffing.

"Let me talk to her," Robin said behind Sabrina, sensing that something must have happened to Daniel.

Sabrina sighed with disappointment and handed the phone to him, taking the opportunity to go and put the baby in the cot.

"What?!" Robin exclaimed into the phone. Sabrina panicked, straightening herself after making Savannah comfortable.

"What’s wrong?" she asked, disturbed by Robin’s distressed look.

Chapter 409: Chapter 409 - Your family is safe

"Which hospital?" Robin asked, not yet responding to Sabrina. "Alright, just stay calm. I’m on my way," he said and ended the call.

Sabrina’s heart was already thumping due to Lizzy and Robin’s behavior as she asked, "What is the matter? Please tell me now and don’t keep me in the dark."

Robin had already walked to the closet to pick a winter jacket, as the weather was pretty cold. "Daniel and Lizzy were involved in an accident. Lizzy is fine but Daniel is in a coma."

Sabrina lowered herself to the bed, the color draining from her face as fear covered her eyes.

Robin had finished putting on his winter jacket, at the same time Sabrina stood up and walked up to him,

"Wait? I’m coming too."

Robin turned to face her, squeezing her shoulders comfortingly. "No. Please stay. I will tell Laura to move in with us for some time."

Sabrina’s jaw dropped as her fears grew deeper. "Wait, do you think it might be them?" She asked seriously, Robin sighed frustratedly. He had bottled up his pain to put her at ease but only God knew how upset he was.

"It can be anybody. Laura can monitor the security for the time being since Daniel can’t do that for us anymore. I will also try to get in touch with Peter."

Sabrina was shaking her head. She wanted to be there for her sister. "But I need to see him too. I want to see them. I have to be there to comfort Lizzy."

Robin knew that it was right for her to come along but he felt strangely uncomfortable with it.

"What if they are watching somehow? From the way Lizzy explained it, the person meant to crash into them. Please. Let me be sure that everything is fine. You can see them tomorrow, I promise," he said assuring, shifting his gaze between Sabrina and the babies, she got the hint and agreed,

"Okay."

Robin kissed her briefly on the lips as pain registered in his eyes. "I love you, my queen."

"I love you too," a tear dropped from Sabrina’s eyes and Robin wiped it for her. After kissing her again on the forehead, he turned around and left.

He promised to make her happy always. To not let her shed a tear and yet, she was shedding tears and he couldn’t do much about it because of how pained he equally was.

When Robin reached downstairs, Jacob was on his computer but it didn’t seem as if he was working on anything serious. Seeing Robin’s sullen mood, he was curious.

Where are you going? Leaving my sister-in-law behind?" He asked jokingly, but when Robin didn’t return his joke, he got serious. "Did something happen to sister-in-law? You look as if you want to murder somebody."

"Daniel had an accident. Call Laura and inform her to come over," Robin said directly. Jacob stiffened and instantly closed his laptop.

"I’m coming with you. I will call her on the way," Jacob insisted.

Robin shook his head. Initially, he thought that Jacob would be asleep by now. "Daniel isn’t there to monitor the cameras. He is the only one I can trust with that."

"What if the accident wasn’t really an accident? Whoever targeted him could target you too. I’m coming with you," Jacob insisted. Robin felt that he had a point.

Daniel was like the all-seeing eyes around Robin’s villa and business. At JC Minerals, his focus was in Sabrina’s office.

If someone was indeed behind this, then it meant that the person hit the right target this time. Daniel’s being at the hospital meant there would be a lapse in Robin’s security system.

"Then we can only leave after Laura arrives. Call her and let me call Devin," Robin said with a grim expression.

As soon as Robin dialed Devin’s number, the latter was already panicking at the end of the line. "Robin, I’m already on my way to the hospital."

"Is Matilda with you?" Robin asked. If it was the people Robin suspected, then it also meant that Matilda would be at great risk. Since Robin had no idea about their location, he held back from informing the general immediately.

"Yes," Devin responded. Robin suggested, "I think that since she’s in her later months, you should drop her off at your father’s mansion."

Devin felt uneasy. "So, you also think somebody was behind it?" He asked seriously. Robin didn’t agree nor refuse. "I don’t know, but we have to take precautions."

"Alright. I will see you soon."

In less than twenty minutes, Laura arrived and Robin gave instructions. "Daniel cannot monitor our security because he is in a coma. Please supervise the other agents and in case of anything, please call me."

Laura was shocked to hear about what had happened to Daniel and her protective gears instantly kicked in. "Yes sir. Your family is safe."

Robin, what’s wrong?" Grandma asked, surprised to hear voices downstairs while she was reading in her room. Robin didn’t have time to explain and said,

"Sabrina will explain it to you. I have to see Daniel at the hospital." Without waiting for another word, he left the house. He somehow got to the hospital before Devin, who had to make a U-turn to drop Matilda at the mansion.

Lizzy was a crying mess, and Robin had to hug and comfort her. It wasn’t the first time he hugged her, but it was the first time he had to give her comfort.

"Robin, I don’t want to be a widow at this age. Why is all this happening? The person was driving right at us. When Daniel turned to the right, he was headed that way. He meant to crash into us and... and... Daniel hit a cliff; the car somersaulted thrice."

Lizzy was crying like a baby, and most of her words were unclear, but due to how attentive Robin and Jacob were, they understood her clearly. Robin pulled away and said seriously,

"Lizzy, listen. Daniel will be fine, okay."

Lizzy wiped her tears, but her eyes were once again blurred with more tears. "Okay. The cops left a while ago."

"Do you have the name of the one in charge of the investigations?" Robin asked seriously. Lizzy nodded her head. "Detective Miguel Pine."

"Alright. I will get to the bottom of it, but where is Daniel?" Robin asked again. Lizzy pointed to the ICU. Robin’s presence indeed gave her comfort, as she didn’t want to worry her sister because of the twins.

"At the ICU. I only came out to talk to the cops."

"Where is the doctor?" Robin asked again as Lizzy forced a smile and said,

"They are attending to him." As they were walking towards the ICU, Jacob noticed a red liquid stain at the back of Lizzy’s dress and asked with concern,

"Has the doctor checked on you? You seem to be bleeding from something."

Lizzy froze and instantly burst into tears. "Oh, no. I found out that I was pregnant and was going to surprise him when the accident happened." The two men paled; their eyes red from bottled up tears.

Chapter 410: Chapter 410 – Robin’s vow to Daniel

Oh no, I found out that I was pregnant and was going to surprise him when the accident happened." The two men paled, their eyes red from bottled-up tears.

Without a word, Robin swept her into his arms and headed for the emergency room. He was furious and addressed the doctors when he reached there.

"She had an accident and is bleeding. How could you not have done a proper check on her?"

Lizzy was slightly guilty and explained while Robin placed her gently on one of the beds in the emergency ward. There was only one patient being attended to at the moment.

"Robin, they did. I told them I was fine."

Robin was not ready to listen. He felt that if the doctors had indeed done their checks on Lizzy as expected, they would have detected that something was wrong with her.

"They should have still run some tests to make sure you are fine, considering it was an accident case."

Lizzy felt sorry for the doctors and how Robin kept lashing out on them. Trying to create an excuse for him to leave, she hinted, "Daniel’s situation was more serious."

Robin stiffened a little, but he still couldn’t get over the fact that something was happening to his niece or nephew in Lizzy’s womb. It made him upset that Lizzy was trying to create excuses for them and lashed out at her,

"That is why there are lots of doctors. Stop creating excuses for them. If anything happens to you, my niece or nephew, I will sue this hospital," he stated firmly, the doctors panicked as one of them said,

"Mr. Jewel, please. You have to excuse us and let us do our work."

Robin was about to refuse when he heard Devin’s nervous voice from the entrance. "Robin, what happened to Lizzy?"

Robin excused the doctors after saying to Lizzy. "I will be right at the door."

"No. You should check on Daniel. Devin can stay with me," Lizzy suggested, knowing how Robin’s presence made the doctors uncomfortable.

"Okay, but I will be right back," Robin said seriously before meeting Devin at the entrance.

"What happened to her? She said she was okay when we spoke on the phone," Devin said eagerly. Robin calmly explained,

"That is what we thought until Jacob noticed a blood stain on her dress."

Devin relaxed, knowing that Lizzy complained a lot during her PMS and was quite a heavy bleeder.

"It could be that time of the month for her. She bleeds quite a lot during her period."

Robin forced a smile and shook his head. "It doesn’t look like it was her period. She said she found out she was pregnant and was about to break the news to Daniel when the incident happened. Seems they were going out on a date."

Devin was ashen. "No. It can’t be. Lizzy was so desperate to get pregnant like Sabrina." He ran his fingers through his hair in frustration. Robin had not lost hope and encouraged him,

"Don’t worry. She has been very strong so far. You shouldn’t appear sorrowful before her."

"You are right. I need to be strong for her too but how is Daniel?" Devin asked, Robin’s expression darkened. From the look of it, someone was behind it and he didn’t mind the resources he would spend to get to the root of the matter.

"I’m going to check on him now. You wait on Lizzy," Robin said and Devin didn’t refuse. He had to be there for his sister. Reaching the ICU, Robin went to see the doctor in charge of Daniel and asked,

"He is my best friend and his parents are in a different state. His wife, my sister-in-law, is in the emergency ward. I am the one responsible for both of them here so what is the situation.

He didn’t want the doctor to ask for any family member for which reason he gave all the details. To his amazement, the doctor replied,

"Mr. Jewel, I already know about your relationship with the patient. He sustained a severe brain injury but the surgery to remove the pressure on his brain due to swelling has been successful."

"However, he would still be on life support until he regains consciousness," the doctor explained. Robin was slightly relieved and asked him,

"How long is that supposed to be?"

The doctor pursed his lips and massaged his temple. "I’m afraid it can take days to weeks. The longer it takes, the higher chances of disability he might face but there isn’t much we can do now."

Robin’s fingers balled into fists. "The driver who crashed into him. Is he in this hospital?" He asked.

Lizzy had been crying when she explained so Robin wasn’t sure if the driver fled the scene or was equally injured.

"I heard that he drove into a cliff. I don’t know about any other driver and no arrest has been made," the doctor replied.

Robin’s gaze darkened incredulously. It was obvious that the whole thing was indeed a set up.

"Thank you doctor," Robin said and went to the ICU. Seeing his best friend in such a state because of evil people lurking around, his blood boiled.

"You need to fight, Dan; your wife is pregnant. She needs you. As for whoever did this to you, you know that the person would pay. I don’t forgive so easily. Even if this person is my beloved grandmother, he or she would pay with their dear lives," Robin vowed.

He was not a murderer but was certain that if he laid a hand on the perpetrators, he would give them the death they deserved, himself.

As soon as he stepped out of the ward, he dialed Peter’s number, hoping to leave an emergency message if the latter does not answer it.

Surprisingly, it was answered on the third ring. "Mr. Jewel, do you have a gift of ruining my good moments?"

Robin knew that Peter’s good moment could only be with a woman and retorted, "I thought you had official assignments."

"I do but I’m also trying to woo a woman who deserves my attention," Peter blurted out, Robin chuckled a little.

"Since you are talking about a woman, then this is more important. Daniel was involved in an accident and it seemed planned out. I have a feeling that your little girlfriend’s ghost is haunting us. Also, Zayla escaped from prison with her death faked."

There was silence at the end of the line before Peter replied in a serious tone, "Oh Mr. Jewel. This is a serious matter. How is Daniel’s condition?" He asked worriedly, Robin replied honestly,

"He is in a coma. That is the reason I am asking for your help."

Discerning the intensity of the situation, Peter was ready to work for free.

"Then I will make myself available until they are apprehended. Send me the details of the accident and I will start working on it." He was sure that if Mara succeeds in harming those close to Robin, her next target would be him.

Peter knew about Mara’s evil ways and couldn’t sit back and allow her to win again. This time, he was going to help put her in the grave where she belonged. That is if it turns out to indeed be her.

"I will call you back after a few minutes. I will get it from the detective," Robin said. he was about to hang up when Peter spoke,

"I will be waiting or I can hack into the NYPD’s server and get it myself." He was so eager that waiting would only increase his anxiety. Robin seemed to like that suggestion better and agreed,

"That won’t be bad. Thank you."

Peter felt that he didn’t deserve Robin’s gratitude. If not for his love for Mara before, she would never have succeeded in her evil ways in the past.

"Well, I helped Mara before so I’m partly responsible. Let’s just say that I’m redeeming myself."

Robin smiled a little, grateful to have Peter’s help. With Daniel down, he couldn’t have gotten a better person.

"I’m still grateful that you chose the right path. Later, I will link you up with my twin brother. I want you to help him with something important too," Robin recalled his promise to Jacob and said. Peter replied from the end of the line.

"As long as you are the one asking, I will do my best." As soon as Robin ended the call, his phone was ringing again and seeing Sabrina’s name, his heart felt heavy. How could he tell her about what was happening to Lizzy?
