Ch. 416..420: The President's Pregnant, Ex-Wife Chapter 416-420
Chapter 416: Chapter 416 – He has to go to jail
What is it? Please tell me," Robin asked eagerly, at the same time trying to control the volume of his voice. If he woke the two people in the cot, then no one would be able to sleep through the night.
Peter had gone to great lengths and was happy with the result. "I got the video of the accident scene and guess what?" He asked, his suspenseful ways making Robin frustrated.
"What?" Robin asked, not expecting better news from what Peter had just said.
"I got his address too."
"Great!" Robin exclaimed excitedly, suddenly clamping his mouth shut, but his excited squeal somehow managed to wake Sabrina.
With the twins in their room, she had become a very light sleeper, always anxious to attend to their needs.
Seeing Robin speaking on the phone with a smile, her heart warmed as she felt that finally, there was a light at the end of the tunnel.
"Can you send it to me?" Robin asked in a hushed tone. Peter sighed and revealed, "I already have."
He expected Robin to call after sending him all the necessary information. However, after waiting for a few minutes without hearing from Robin, he realized that Robin had not seen the information yet.
A sigh of relief escaped Robin at the revelation, and he was eager to end the call and check for the video and the address.
"I will send some men there in a few hours. Thank you very much."
"Alright," Peter responded and ended the call. Robin instantly went through his phone and he couldn’t help but feel his eyes welling up.
"What is the problem?" Sabrina asked worriedly. Robin showed the video to her and she couldn’t hold back her tears, seeing how the truck driver kept crossing the path of Daniel and Lizzy’s car.
Daniel had even reversed the car at a point, but the truck driver seemed determined to crash into them, driving as if he was drunk.
As another car was driving through the other side of the cliff, Daniel would have crashed into it if he had gone that way.
With the truck driver in the middle of the road, his only option was the cliff. The camera could not capture the depth of the fall, but it caught the truck driver driving normally after achieving his aim.
He drove without stopping to check on the accident car, making it clear that everything he did was intentional.
Robin fumed. "He has to pay," he said in a hushed tone, but the anger in his voice was not missed.
Sabrina could not help but agree that the truck driver had gone too far. Now, her pregnant sister and her husband were both admitted to the hospital.
No one in their right mind would allow the truck driver to rest. "Is there a way to find the truck driver? He has to go to jail to pay for his crimes."
"Peter already sent me his house location and his identity. I will have some people apprehend him for me," Robin replied with reddened eyes.
"He has to go to jail," Sabrina reiterated but an idea suddenly dropped inside Robin’s mind.
"I have to get a place where he would be taken for questioning. Recalling the villa, he was building for Zayla during the divorce, he decided to use one of the rooms.
He had asked the contractor to put a hold on the construction but decided it was time to give him the ago ahead.
A few hours later, Robin had already mobilized his strongest bodyguards, sending them on a mission.
Due to the urgency of the matter, he wanted to be there when the man was brought and said to Sabrina,
"I have to get the information from him myself."
Sabrina didn’t want to involve in that part as she was now a mother. Some things were better left for the men to handle and she only wised that somebody would accompany Robin.
"I wish Devin could go with you," Sabrina said worriedly. The video scared her to a fault.
"I’m going with the bodyguards," Robin said comfortingly but Sabrina was still reluctant and suggested,
"You should add Jacob too."
"If that would make you to relax, then sure, I will go with him." Sabrina was a little calm after that assurance.
After a brief kiss, Robin left. The babies were being bathed by Margaret and Sabrina sat there, looking into space.
Some people could not stand her happiness and though she found blood gruesome, it laid heavily on her heart that if this involved their old enemies, that they needed to die for real this time.
Robin arrived at the venue with Jacob and some bodyguards. They drove in three cars but Robin and Jacob drove in the same car. They waited in the car until two hours later before the agent responsible for abducting the truck driver arrived.
The truck driver was whisked from the car to the room Robin had prepared for him. His eyes were covered and his lips sealed with a duct tape.
Sweating profusely after the blind fold was removed from his eyes, he saw familiar and yet, distant faces.
Robin and his twin brother had been in the media spotlight for a long time, but the man had never met either of them in person until now.
As soon as the duct tape was peeled from the truck driver’s mouth, he began to beg. "What do you want? Who are you? Please let me go."
Robin didn’t have time for unnecessary banter and spoke directly. "You caused my best friend to have an accident and that is an unpardonable sin."
"Who is your best friend?" the truck driver asked, confused. Again, Robin could not stand that his time was being wasted.
"Since you have forgotten, let me refresh your memory." Robin showed the video to him, taking interest in how the truck driver paled. Yet, his words were rather ironic.
"I swear, it’s not me. That is my twin brother," the man said, making Robin furious at the fact that he dared to lie to his face.
Chapter 417: Chapter 417 – Did you do it?
"Remove his tongue," Robin said coldly. Fear gathered in the eyes of the truck driver per Robin’s instruction.
Robin did not look like he was joking and as one of the men brought out a knife to do Robin’s bidding, the man was shedding tears and begged,
"Please, I’m sorry I lied."
He thought that by telling that lie, he would be allowed to go scot-free or would be able to shift their attention to looking for his brother instead but sadly, that lie was too shallow for anyone to believe.
Robin would have allowed the agent to do as instructed since this was the man who caused the accident.
If he was not ready to talk, then he was just useless to Robin and he wouldn’t mind taking the man’s life, as he almost took away that of Daniel and his unborn child.
"I will not repeat the question," Robin said coldly, his piercing gaze pinned on the man with disdain.
When he recalled the video, all he wanted to do was strangle this man to die but what good would it be without being sure about the person behind it?
Robin did not want to jump to conclusions, recalling how he suspected Martin when Jacob set him up.
"Somebody paid me to do it but I don’t know her name," the truck driver said but Robin already had a clue, and that was the fact that the person behind it was a woman.
’Is it Mara or Zayla?’ Robin thought to himself as he instructed the truck driver,
"Describe her."
Instantly, the driver began to say, "She’s a short plump woman with short curly hair."
Robin frowned. It was neither Zayla nor Mara but the description reminded him of someone. The truck driver’s confession brought the image on Robin’s mind as he asked,
"Does she have green eyes?"
The eyes of the truck driver lit up at the question. It seemed that his work was going to be very easy.
"Yes. Since you know her, you should let me go right?" He asked hopefully. All he did was to take up a job so he did not think that he was guilty of any offense.
For as long as he knew, the person who contracted him should be the one taking responsibility for everything.
The more Robin confirmed the image in his mind, the more elated he felt to be a step closer to finding his enemy.
"Where is she?" he demanded.
"I don’t know. We met in a bar," the truck driver explained helplessly. If he had known that the couple in that car were related to this man, he would have never gone near them.
However, Robin’s expression gave him hope that he would be let go if he confessed everything.
"What is her name?" Robin asked, since he never had the chance to know the name of the woman the truck driver had just described. But the truck driver was equally clueless this time around.
"She didn’t mention her name. I didn’t care about a name anyway. She only paid me to do a job and I did so."
The corner of Robin’s lips curled up mockingly. To this idiot on the floor, Robin’s best friend and sister-in-law’s lives were just a job to him.
"Alright. Untie him," Robin said, causing everyone around to freeze, wondering if he was insane. Though the truck driver hoped that Robin would let him go unharmed, he was still surprised that things were far easier than he thought.
"Where is his truck?" Robin asked. One of the agents responded, "I had my partner drive it here like you requested."
Robin nodded his head calmly. "Okay. Let him go."
The agents were too shocked to do as Robin had said but could not voice it.
"Are you kidding me?" Jacob raged. He was the only one who could talk back to Robin due to the relationship they had.
Robin did not want to immediately reveal his plans to his twin brother, saying, "He is not the culprit but just a pawn. He doesn’t have anything to do with it."
The truck driver was elated, feeling that Robin was kind-hearted. "Thank you, Mr. Jewel. I will take my leave now."
"Your car key," one of the agents said, disdain lacing his tone as disappointment flashed in his eyes towards Robin.
The truck driver took the key and smiled with gratitude. "Mr. Jewel is indeed a very good man."
As he exited the room without Robin changing his mind, Jacob was furious and didn’t hide it.
"How could you let him go? He was paid to kill your best friend and he almost succeeded."
"Daniel is still in a coma and Lizzy is on bedrest. Who knows if the child she is carrying will be normal," he yelled, but to everyone’s amazement, Robin was still calm.
"Do you know your problem, Jacob?" He asked in a soft tone. Jacob shook his head as Robin remarked, "You talk too much. Now let’s go home and see how we can find that woman."
"Who is she anyway?" Jacob asked curiously, wondering if the woman was important enough for Robin to let the truck driver go unharmed.
"The last time I rescued Sabrina from Martin’s mansion, that woman was with Mara. I think she was her caretaker or something of that sort," Robin replied thoughtfully.
Jacob caught a hint and asked him, "So, this is indeed her doing?" It was not hard to connect the dots that Mara was the one behind it.
"Most certainly. I don’t think she could pull this off on her own though."
"But I still don’t agree with you letting him go just like that," Jacob said with disdain. Robin forced a smile and explained, "Jacob, you are my twin brother but you are yet to know the kind of person I am."
Jacob did not immediately understand Robin’s words but his anger did not allow him to argue.
On their way to the house, Jacob and Robin heard the sound of sirens with police vehicles and an ambulance gathered around an accident scene.
Curiously, Jacob asked a bystander, "what happened?"
"There has been an accident. That truck drove into that tree and the driver died on the spot," the bystander replied and walked away, shaking his head in pity.
Jacob instantly glared at Robin as fear covered his eyes. "Did you do it?" He asked Robin after the latter drove past the scene with the same calmness as before.
Chapter 418: Chapter 418 - Are you pregnant again?
Jacob instantly glared at Robin as fear covered his eyes. "Did you do it?" He asked Robin after the latter drove past the scene with the same calmness as before.
Robin responded emotionlessly. "Why do you think that I asked them to bring his truck along? I had to make sure that he died in the same truck he committed the crime with."
Jacob froze. He had been with Robin through it all but had not noticed anything odd about him. Before he spoke, Robin added,
"Furthermore, I have to make sure that that woman doesn’t get a hint that we know about her existence and involvement in the whole plot."
"So how did you do it?" Jacob finally asked the question on his mind with keen interest. Robin smiled and revealed,
"Whiles we were inside, I sent a text message to another agent to tamper with the brake of the truck and a few other things. This was the death he was paid to give to my best friend and sister-in-law. Its an eye for an eye," Robin shrugged, his eyes on the road.
Jacob was stunned by his twin brother’s moves. He thought he was the best in mischief but was only realizing now that his twin brother was the master of mischief.
"I love your style," Jacob said with a smile, no longer feeling that Robin was too lenient. It was rather the opposite. Robin was ruthless.
"Well, the good thing about using this method is that firstly, I don’t have to do the job myself and find ways to hide the body. His family will think that he had an accident and give him a befitting burial."
"Secondly, no one would even suspect our involvement. So the next plan would be to find the person responsible for all this, its time to begin our hunt.
Arriving home, Robin sends Anna’s description to Peter and the latter called instantly. "I know her. She is Mara’s caretaker."
The corner of Robin’s lips tilted as he responded, "She is also the one who paid the truck driver."
Peter sighed. At least they had cracked a puzzle. "That means that Mara is the one behind it again."
"Yeah. Your terrible ex-girlfriend," Robin said to annoy him before asking, "Can you find this woman’s location? What is her name?"
Peter was frustrated as a result of Robin’s teasing but jolted out of his frustration at the question and replied,
"Her name is Anna but somehow, every information about her is gone. I won’t be surprised if she’s going by a different identity. This is so much like the Mara I know. I wonder how she looks like now."
Robin was equally frustrated at the revelation that they couldn’t use Anna to get to Mara or Martin.
"Why do they have to hide? I wish they would just show their miserable faces," Robin exclaimed.
"I think the best thing to do until we find them is to treat every stranger like an enemy," Jacob suggested. Robin quickly agreed, saying,
"That is a good idea."
***
At the underground bunker, Estelle had news. "The truck driver had an accident a few hours ago and died at the spot."
The fake Robin was unmoved by the news. The truck driver was not his family member, so he didn’t care what happened to him.
"May his soul rest in peace. It’s even good so we don’t have to deal with the fear that he might be found and forced to confess," the fake Robin said.
Estelle agreed, nodding her head. "That is true." She feared that should the truck driver confess, then she would be the wanted one by the police. But then again, she never gave her name, for which reason she was suddenly calm.
"But are you sure that no one is behind it?" Hazel asked seriously. Estelle was helpless and replied,
"I can’t tell, but I don’t think so. After all, who would go after him? There was no footage of the whole thing, so nobody knows."
"I just have to agree that for now, we lie low," the fake Robin advised.
Brea was not comfortable with this arrangement, as she didn’t want Robin to legally get married to Sabrina once again. Not wanting to say it to her benefit, she pitched it the other way.
"It’s so sad that Robin is going to get married to Sabrina. She might even get pregnant again."
The fake Robin’s teeth gritted, but he did not speak. He wished he had recovered so he could make it to the wedding and ruin it. Or, to kidnap Robin and be the one to walk down the aisle with Sabrina, but both options were too far to reach.
At the villa, Aria brought some urgent documents for Robin to sign early in the morning. As Robin was scrutinizing the documents, Sabrina invited Aria for a talk while in the kitchen.
As Aria reached the entrance of the kitchen, she felt nauseated at the aroma of delicious fried eggs.
"Mrs. Jewel, please, I want to puke," Aria said.
Sabrina smiled and showed her the visitor’s washroom. Aria emptied her stomach and when she returned, Sabrina left the cooking to the chef and went to the garden to speak with her.
Are you pregnant again?" Sabrina asked excitedly. Aria smiled and responded,
"I think so. This is the first time I’ve had this reaction though," she said with a confused expression as her first pregnancy was not like this.
"Your first pregnancy?" Sabrina asked.
"It was very smooth. I didn’t even know that I was pregnant," Aria smiled as she recalled. Sabrina’s smile widened.
"I’m very happy for you."
"Thank you" Aria said, already expecting her husband’s reaction to the news.
"And I hope that your husband hasn’t changed after tasting power and wealth?" Sabrina questioned, as a lot of men change after receiving their breakthroughs. She only hoped that Aria would never undergo that phase of life.
"No. He’s rather sweet and even more caring. This news would be like a cherry on top of the cake for him."
Sabrina couldn’t be happier to know that Aria had recovered very well and the loss of her first child did not disorient her marriage.
"I am genuinely happy for you."
As they went back to the living room, one of the maids was carrying Sabrina’s phone. "Ma’am please, your phone is ringing."
When Sabrina saw Lizzy’s number after taking the phone, she was disturbed as she was cooking food to take to her at the hospital.
Answering the call, Sabrina could not contain her excitement as Lizzy spoke from the end of the line.
"Brina, guess what?"
Chapter 419: Chapter 419 – Gosh, Dan, I’m not your wife
"Have you been discharged? I was making you breakfast," Sabrina asked excitedly, her tone matching that of Lizzy. The latter giggled and responded,
"No, I haven’t been discharged yet but can you put Robin on the line please?"
Though she did not sound depressing, the request made Sabrina uncomfortable, recalling what happened a few days ago when she made the same request.
"Not again Lizzy, please tell me first," Sabrina demanded, worry lacing her tone. Lizzy laughed and pleaded,
"Please put Robin on the line."
Reluctantly, Sabrina gave the phone to Robin and he exclaimed on the phone.
"You are awake? We are coming over. I hope you are ready to eat because Sabrina was specially making breakfast by herself for your wife. Now we are happy to add extra," Robin said, rising to his feet as Sabrina excitedly went to finish up the breakfast.
At the other side of the line, Daniel did not sound disappointed and spoke weakly, "Robin, I’m surprised that you are not here."
Robin chuckled. Of course, he wanted to be there for Daniel when he wakes up but he had a wife by his side and her presence to Robin, was more than his.
"Why should I be there when I had to look for the people who put you into that state?" Robin diverted the conversation, earning the excitement he was looking for in Daniel as the latter asked,
"Did you find them?"
"I will tell you when I get there but how come you are speaking all clear?" Robin asked curiously.
From what he knew, most patients upon coming out of comatose state might take a few days to weeks to recover fully.
"Because I’ve been up for a few hours now. Days before, I could hear the voices of those who visited my ward. I couldn’t move nor speak and the doctor said that my head injury wasn’t so bad. I still have headache though," Daniel explained.
Robin was saddened to only be hearing about his recovery when he had been up hours ago. "What a silly sister-in-law and twin brother I have? How could they not tell me earlier?" Robin exclaimed in annoyance.
Daniel chuckled and ended the call. Aria went back to the office after Robin finished signing the documents and returned them to her as Robin and Sabrina went to the hospital.
Daniel had been moved to a private ward by the time they got there and both Lizzy and Jacob were there by his side.
His eyes lit at the sight of both Robin and Sabrina, though his was face was still pale.
Dan, I’m glad to have you back," Robin said as she hugged Daniel on the bed. Sabrina felt like she was finally able to breathe again.
Her joy escalated when she heard that Daniel was speaking clearly and the accident hadn’t caused any permanent damage to him.
"I thought you’d be the first person I see," Daniel pouted. Robin felt that perhaps Daniel’s reaction to the accident had to do with him being childish and teased him,
"Gosh, Dan, I’m not your wife. I hope that you already saw her and I already left my twin brother with you."
Daniel nodded in agreement. He was just joking anyway. In his comatose state, he had heard Robin’s voice a lot of times.
However, waking up with his wife’s head on his chest was the best feeling ever. He already heard that she was pregnant, causing his joy to escalate.
He was only disturbed by the fact that she almost lost their child. Anguish and pain settled in his heart and he yearned for revenge.
"I know, but we need to talk," Daniel said seriously. Robin already knew what he was going to say and replied,
"Get better. Has the doctor checked on you yet?" Robin asked. Daniel responded, "Yes, but don’t worry. I have every part of my body in good function."
"How did you recover so fast?" Robin asked, still not believing that he was seeing his best friend okay. He expected a slow recovery due to the head surgery but here he was.
"I was awake for the past two days. I could hear you guys but I couldn’t immediately speak. That is how I knew that my wife was pregnant. Robin, please tell me, is it..." he was about to ask if it was Mara as Robin cut in and responded,
"Yes, the truck driver was paid by Mara’s caretaker."
Daniel’s gaze darkened dangerously. He was an extraordinary hacker, so why couldn’t he find the whereabouts of Mara and Martin?
"It means that Mara has begun operation. Have you been able to find her location?" Daniel asked curiously, hoping that his unconscious state from before had not caused a delay in finding out their enemies.
"Peter tried but couldn’t get her. It’s better for us to stay away from strangers until they are found. Peter thinks they might be operating under a fake identity," Robin revealed. Daniel was very upset.
He was with his wife when that truck driver pulled the stunt on him. Not only could he have lost his wife, but he could have equally lost their unborn child.
"Where is the goddamn truck driver?" Daniel sneered. Robin smiled mischievously,
"Dead."
Daniel let out a sigh of relief as he replied, "Thank you. I can’t wait to get out of here."
"Don’t worry. You will soon be out as we are waiting for you to wake up before we announce our marriage. Now that you are awake, I think it’s the right time to make that announcement," Robin said with a mischievous smile.
He knew that Mara would be working with Martin, who was obsessed with Sabrina, and was ready to see if Martin would come out of hiding to stop him or continue being a coward and hide.
"It reminds me of Sabrina’s birthday. Are you thinking what I’m thinking?" Daniel asked with interest.
Robin smiled, knowing that he was talking about the time Martin sent those men to kidnap Sabrina.
"I’m only hoping that they fall for it, but if they don’t, then we have to understand that they have grown smarter," Robin said with a darkened gaze.
Daniel was very uncomfortable and asked him, "And does that mean that you would let them off?"
Robin scoffed at the question and replied, "Never. Even if it takes years, I will find them and put them in the grave where they belong."
"I suddenly feel better," Daniel smiled and spoke.
Chapter 420: Chapter 420 - I Think I Like This Honeymoon Idea
As soon as Robin left the hospital with Sabrina, he sent out an open invitation for his and Sabrina’s wedding in three weeks, inviting everybody.
The media houses carried the news like birds in the air. Most people were looking forward to it, especially when Robin had made it an open event.
He was expecting thousands of people and was going to make the necessary arrangements to announce his wife to the world and also track down his enemies.
Special invitations would be sent out to very important personalities with special reservations made for such people.
Sabrina was both excited and nervous but was happier for Aria and remembered to tell the good news to Robin.
"I forgot to tell you that Aria is pregnant," Sabrina announced. Robin was both surprised and excited, he didn’t hide it.
"Are you serious? Why didn’t she tell me?"
Sabrina chuckled and retorted, "We were all excited about Daniel’s recovery so it’s understandable, but hey, I found out and I told you so why does she still have to be the one to break the news to you?" She asked teasingly.
Robin massaged his temple as he responded, "Because I’m her boss."
Savannah and Robert lay on their parents’ bed with pacifiers in their mouths. Their legs twirled in the air as if they didn’t have a care in the world.
Sabrina’s heart warmed seeing them like that, as they circled their fingers around Robin’s.
"Oh yeah, thanks for reminding me. So will you go to work? I mean, you can’t stay home for three weeks in addition to the weeks you’ve already spent and still take extra for the honeymoon."
Sabrina was more concerned about the honeymoon since her body would be ready for intimacy by then. She hadn’t told Robin though and meant to surprise him. His self-control after their second chance encounter never ceased to amaze her.
Robin was surprised and a little disappointed by Sabrina’s fears. It was as if she did not know his level of authority and power.
"My queen. I’m the president of my own group of companies for a reason. If it’s not urgent, I could work from home for as long as I want. Our children are very young and I want to have a lot of time for them," Robin said seriously.
He didn’t want his children, especially Robert, to become like the Robin of the past. He wanted his lad to be better than him in every way.
"And me?" Sabrina asked, slightly jealous and fearing that the twins were going to get all of Robin’s attention.
Her expression amused Robin as he spoke to her,
"My queen, our children will leave us one day. We will never have the opportunity to spend their early days with them again."
Sabrina nodded slowly in agreement. Once the kids turned eighteen, they would become adults and no longer be attached to their parents.
They needed all the love and attention at their tender ages. Still, Sabrina didn’t want to be exempted and asked,
"So what about our honeymoon? Are we taking them along?"
Robin smiled at Savannah while speaking to his wife. "Well, since you are carrying their food, how can we leave them behind? Grandma hasn’t traveled in a while so we shall make arrangements for her and her caretaker to be with us."
Noticing the confusion on Sabrina’s face, he added, "they won’t share our room throughout the honeymoon period though."
Sabrina finally smiled with satisfaction. It was time for intimacy to be restored in their marriage so these little Angels would have to excuse them for a while.
"I think I like this honeymoon idea."
Robin smirked at her excitement and added, "But I also promise another honeymoon after the twins are weaned."
Sabrina could not contain her excitement upon realizing what he meant and leaned in for a kiss. "You are so romantic."
Robin responded to the kiss, savoring in the sweetness of his wife’s soft lips and spoke after she pulled away.
"That is a side that only you get to enjoy."
Sabrina giggled like a teenager and remarked, "I love you so much and I’m so glad that both Lizzy and Daniel are fine."
Lizzy and Daniel might be fine but Robin knew that his revenge plan was not over yet. He responded,
"I love you too my queen. Now let’s begin with the wedding preparations."
***
At the underground bunker, confusion and anger surged. "The wedding is in three weeks. I have to be there," the imposter Robin said to the doctor who had come to check on them.
"Well, you can, but you mustn’t indulge in any physical activity," the doctor spoke reassuringly, instantly calming the imposter Robin’s emotions.
"But I will get to see her again," he muttered.
"What are you saying?" the doctor asked.
"Nothing," the imposter Robin quickly came to his senses and replied. He was wise enough to use a doctor who was not aware of the things happening in New York City. The doctor had no idea who Robin even was.
He didn’t speak again, and after the examination, he left. The three people were no longer in their bandages and could even sit up by themselves.
After the doctor left, Hazel could not contain her anger and lashed out. "We agreed to stay low, so why are you still going there?" She fumed.
The imposter Robin, unfazed by her anger, retorted, "I can’t allow them to get married."
Hazel was upset, and her expression darkened. Even after knowing the truth that they were not related by blood, the imposter Robin still did not feel anything for her.
However, this new plan caught her interest, and she asked, "So what are you going to do?"
"I’m going to ruin their wedding," the imposter Robin said seriously. Hazel frowned in confusion, now seeing a way as she asked him,
"How?"
The imposter Robin was now looking like the real Robin, but his behaviors and voice betrayed him. Though he had gotten an earlier surgery to change his voice, he was yet to speak with the confidence, pride, and dominion of the real Robin.
"I won’t know until I get there. I would not allow them to get married again..." the imposter Robin vowed.
