Chapter 1091

Watching Kevin left angrily, Susan stomped her foot in frustration, ‘I don’t even know why he is taking out his anger on me out of nowhere! That darn Blake!’

After snagging the contract, Kevin returned to the office. When he saw that Zach was not in, he called him to fill him in on the details.

Zach said, “Well done. Have someone keep a close eye on everything to ensure it’s all good on the wedding day.

“Okay, Mr. Jardin,” said Kevin and ended the call. The brand-new contracts that were dropped off for approval were on the desk. Sitting at his desk, he could not concentrate at all. Holding a pen, he rubbed his forehead and spent the entire morning distracted, Kevin had never felt this emotionally scattered before, ‘What’s wrong with me?’

At 3 pm, Susan swung by to remind Kevin about the meeting and wrapped up by 4.30 pm.

As Kevin strolled past Blake’s desk, Janice glanced up and filled him in. It was like second nature to her by now, Ah! Mr. Harrison, Blake left the office this morning. I texted her, and she said she was with Ms. Samford, helping her check out of the hospital. After that, they went to Eternal Seasons to entertain some clients. She hasn’t returned yet, but I just messaged her a little while ago.” 11

However, Janice’s phone vibrated at this moment. She got a reply and immediately checked it out, “Blake said she had already gone back home. What! It’s a message replied by Mr. Xander!” The usually calm person who talked slowly suddenly shouted. Janice sneakily glanced at Kevin, who had returned to his office. Her heart skipped a beat.

Hearing Janice’s words, the company’s private group chat started buzzing again.

Blake lounged on the comfy bed and felt a soothing warmth in her throat as someone fed her some sweet, delicious soup. She eagerly slurped down two bowls, not wanting to miss a drop.

“Drink slowly. There’s more.” It was a hangover soup that Liam made for her.

‘Being this intoxicated, I really couldn’t tell how much you drank.’ After feeding Blake, Liam tidied up the clothes scattered on the floor from her drunken frenzy.

As soon as Blake returned, she started rummaging through Liam’s wardrobe, saying she needed a shower. He calmed her down for quite a while before she settled. By the time Liam finished tidying up, it was already 5.30 pm. After all that, he went back to work.

Blake slept straight through until a little after three in the early morning. She groggily got up, peeled back the covers, and stumbled to the bathroom. Once there, she did her business and washed her hands. The harsh glare of the bathroom lights snapped her fully awake, and she realized she was not wearing her favorite Teddy Bear pajamas.

‘Oh my goodness! What on earth? Where am I?

‘Ahh! Where’s the big bathtub I bought for thirty thousand dollars? Where’s my Teddy Bear pajamas? Where am I?’ She panicked.

Chapter 1092

In about half a minute, Blake pieced it all together. Liam had brought her back from Eternal Seasons. Sitting on the edge of the bed in confusion, Blake suddenly recalled that she seemed to have teased him, tried to take off his clothes, and even mentioned wanting to have a child with him.

She said to herself, “Blake! Are you that thirsty? In TV shows, isn’t it always the case that people don’t remember anything after getting drunk? Now, can someone please tell me why I remember everything so vividly? Oh no, this is bad!”

Blake rarely got drunk, but who would have thought she would get this wild when she did? She thought, ‘I think when Liam comes looking for me, I might have some explaining to do, maybe even face the music.

She resided across the hall with a room layout nearly identical to Liam’s. She grabbed her bag from the bedside and quietly opened the bedroom door. She peered into the pitch-dark living room, thinking Liam was probably asleep. She took a few steps, closed the door behind her, and made her move to leave.

Just then, the next room’s door suddenly swung open. Liam wore cozy white pajamas, with tousled hair falling over his forehead, hiding those amber-like eyes. Seeing Blake awake, Liam quickly tucked away the freshly lit cigarette he held between his fingertips behind his back.

Blake caught Liam’s subtle moves and sniffed the smoke wafting from the guest room where he slept. They locked eyes and froze for almost half a minute before Blake reacted, “Y-You’re awake?

Liam casually replied, “No, I’m updating today’s novel chapter. Are you heading back?”

Blake could not figure out why, but seeing him like this suddenly made her feel sorry for him, “You stayed up this late, right? Did I go overboard today and mess up your routine? I’m sorry! Those clients that I entertained got me completely hammered. Normally, I’m not a heavy drinker at all.’

Liam glanced down and said, “It’s okay.

“Well… I’ll head back now! You should go to bed. Don’t let me interfere with your work tomorrow,” said Blake.

Liam nodded, “Okay.”

After Blake left, the motion-sensor lights in the hallway automatically lit up. She returned home, sat on her balcony’s rattan chair, and let the cold breeze hit her. Instantly, her mind cleared up considerably. Looking at the darkness below, it would not be long before dawn.

She crashed out for a good while at Liam’s house, so she was not feeling the least bit sleepy now. She could not shake off his sad expression and what he said earlier, “From childhood to now, I’ve always been alone. No one has ever been this kind to me. My parents divorced because of me, and they each started their own families. After I recovered from my illness, my mother hasn’t paid much attention to my recent situation.”

Right downstairs, a car hid in the darkness. The man in the driver’s seat stared at the place where the lights were still on. Blake’s phone was in her bag. A message came in, but she did not hear the notification sound.

After a while, she got up, grabbed a bunch of snacks from the room, and headed to the door. Just as she was about to ring his doorbell, she noticed the closed door swung open on its own. She walked in slowly and placed the snacks she brought on the dining table. Looking at the light spilling from the door crack and listening to the faint sounds, she thought, ‘I knew he hadn’t gone to bed yet.’

“Liam, check out what I brought for you.” Blake grinned and opened the door. Her smile instantly froze when she saw the white pills in Liam’s hand, “What meds are you taking? Is your headache still bothering you? What about those herbal medicines I recommended last time? Did it not work after you take it?”

Blake sat next to Liam, the soft mattress sinking slightly, ‘I was just gone for a bit; how did I not notice his bloodshot eyes? It only happens when he has a splitting headache.’

Chapter 1093

Blake also knew Liam’s migraines were getting worse, “Are you… still having a bad headache right now?”

Liam tried to appear strong and smiled calmly, “Don’t worry, I’m fine. Go back and rest. I can handle it on my own.”

His words hit Blake hard. She said, ” I’ve slept for so long; I’ve already had enough sleep.” She looked around the room and saw the computer on the desk still glowing, “Stop pulling all- nighters for updates. Your health matters.”

“Okay,” Liam promised.

Blake said, “I just came to check on you and brought you some food. Take your medicine and get some rest. This water has gone cold, so don’t drink it. Let me heat some fresh water for you. It’ll be ready in a while.”

“Okay,” Liam replied.

Blake had been to Liam’s house. During the break, he would make a table of dishes and invite her to join. Over time, she became a regular at mealtime. He cooked, did the dishes, and personally tidied up the dining table, leaving her with nothing to do.

Blake grabbed the kettle from the cabinet. While waiting for it to boil, she remembered her phone. As she stepped out, she encountered an unexpected visitor at her door. Seeing Kevin at the end of the hallway, Blake stood at the doorway and was flustered by his presence, “W-Why are you here?”

Kevin had one hand in his pocket and the other holding something she could not identify. After a long gaze, Blake’s palms started sweating for some reason, “W-What made you come here?

Kevin lifted the late-night snack and handed it to her. Seeing her in a daze, he said, “”Take it.”

Blake snapped back to reality and took the snack from him. Seeing him, she felt a bit uneasy.

“Didn’t you see the message?” Kevin asked.

Blake touched her pocket and recalled in a panic, “My phone is in my bag in the room. I didn’t bring it along. Why are you looking for me?”

With her head lowered and avoiding eye contact, Blake figured Kevin must be here for what happened yesterday afternoon. He glanced into the living room with the door open, “Today’s incident is just a warning for you. You were lucky this time. Remember, there won’t be a next time. I’ll approve your day off today. Starting tomorrow, I’ll have you transferred to work as Liam’s assistant.”

Blake asked, “What?! I’ve been doing a good job. Why are you transferring me? You come all the way here in the middle of the night just to tell me this? Kevin, are you out of your mind?”

“Do you think I have nothing to do?”

Seeing Kevin frown, Blake quickly covered her mouth. “Anyway, this is my choice. I won’t change my mind.”

Kevin said, “Enjoy your peaceful days. This matter has nothing to do with you. The transfer order won’t change. Starting tomorrow, you’ll be on the tenth floor. Just stay put and behave yourself.”

He thought, ‘Blake is just an outsider in this situation. If she interferes, it will only complicate things.’

“I won’t!” Blake shouted after Kevin. She seemed determined to oppose him.

Kevin did not stop his steps or bother to regard Blake in his eyes, “Go ahead. Try to oppose me and see what happens.

Chapter 1094

“Kevin, what annoys me is your arrogant attitude. You’re acting like you’re better than everyone else!” said Blake.

Kevin had already entered the elevator and left. Blake, holding her midnight snack, felt her anger dissipate a bit.

It was almost dawn. What was supposed to be a midnight snack was practically breakfast now. Irritated, Blake wanted to throw it away. But realizing it was from The Deli, she thought better of it. She mumbled, “No point wasting free food.

Suddenly, a noise came from the room. Blake thought something had happened and hurried inside. She found Liam on the ground, a glassware from the bedside table shattered beside him.

“Liam! What happened?!” Blake quickly helped Liam up and supported him onto the bed. Exhausted, he coughed and said, “I’m fine. I heard you talking to someone outside. Who is it?”

Blake hesitated before replying, “No one. Just a burglar, but I scared him off. Liam asked, “Are you alright? Should we call the police?”

Blake reassured him, “I’m fine. You should get some rest. I’ll get you some water.”

Liam said, “Thanks.”

Blake replied, “Not a problem.”

After she helped him take his medicine and tucked him in, she said, “Rest up. I’ll leave so you can sleep.”

Liam reached out as if to grab something, but his hand slid off the edge of Blake’s sleeve. There was a hint of sadness on his otherwise composed face.

As soon as Blake reached home, she checked her mobile phone and found a missed call and a message from Kevin. In Blake’s eyes, that was typical of Kevin. He was always brief and to the point as if a few extra words would kill him.

Frustrated, Blake muttered as she gazed at her phone, “Would it kill you to call me more? We’re not even a couple anymore, so why bother contacting me?”

She looked at the midnight snacks on the table. There were varieties of them, which were all to her liking. However, she had no idea why Kevin had sent her the snacks.

‘Surely it wasn’t just a warning. Did he send such meals to other women, too?

He probably even gave them to Ms. Parker, too, she thought.

Suddenly, Blake lost her appetite. She put down her utensils and went back to her room. She went to bed after brushing her teeth and took a shower.

She thought she would not be able to sleep after resting for so long, but she drifted off almost immediately, likely due to the previous night’s lack of sleep.

She slept till noon. When she returned to the office, she glanced at her busy colleagues in her department.

Before Blake could even settle in, another colleague called her to Cecilia’s office. She pondered, ‘Cecilia wants to see me?’

The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning Chapter 1095 by Max Charming

Blake was determined to find out what had happened yesterday. The pleasant social gathering had nearly turned disastrous for her.

She had previously thought Cecilia was generous for giving her a credit card to spend freely, but she realized later that it was a trap. Blake found such deceptive tactics utterly repulsive.

She knocked on Cecilia’s office door and entered as the latter invited her in.

“I’m sorry for being late this morning; my phone died. It won’t happen again,” Blake apologized.

Holding a document, Cecilia reassured Blake, “Don’t worry. Kevin already covered for you this morning. But before I hand you this copy of the approved transfer request, I want to know your relationship with Kevin. Don’t even think about hiding anything. I can tell if you’re lying.”

Blake was caught off guard by Cecilia’s question. She replied, “Ms. Samford, there’s nothing between me and Mr. Harrison. We’re not even friends.”

Cecilia chuckled, “Not even friends? From what I heard, Kevin is very strict with his department. Yet, he seems to treat you differently. You made a mistake with a meeting document once, and he only docked a day’s pay instead of firing you. Clearly, he has a soft spot for you.”

Blake denied it vehemently, “That’s not possible. He’s like a psychopath who toyed with my feelings!”

In a moment of impulse, Blake revealed her true feelings.

Cecilia watched her closely and uttered, “Oh?”

Blake continued, “He said he wanted to date me but then got close to Ms. Parker. We broke up after just a day. I don’t care for such a fickle man.”

Cecilia pondered, resting her chin on her crossed hands. She asked, “Oh, the mayor’s daughter, Audrey?”

“Yes, that’s her!” Blake said. Cecilia revealed, “Kevin requested your transfer to work as an assistant to Liam in Start Reading Literary. Do you feel uncomfortable working with me, or do you think that I’m targeting you?”

Blake shook her head and said, “Not at all! I’m honored to work for you. And you treat me much better than Kevin, who always docks my pay. But something is in my mind, and I can’t figure it out.”

“Is this about yesterday’s incident?” Cecilia asked.

Blake nodded.

Cecilia stood up and approached Blake, explaining, “Yesterday, I went to the restroom and saw you enjoying yourself, so I didn’t disturb you. You played a big part in securing that contract. Don’t worry. You’ll be compensated more than what Kevin offers.

“There are many other men in the world. We can move on to the next if one doesn’t work out. Why hang onto one, right?” Cecilia said, seemingly with an ulterior motive. She adjusted Blake’s collar. Her closeness and perfume made Blake feel uneasy like Cecilia was a predator.

“Yes, I feel the same way,” Blake agreed, feeling a bit unsettled.

Cecilia sneered as she thought, ‘Kevin, I thought you were just a loyal dog to Zach. I didn’t expect you to go to such lengths to protect a woman like Blake. Yesterday was just a test; today, you’ve already requested her transfer. Interesting.”

Chapter 1096

Cecilia confidently stated, “With money, women can be as powerful as men. So, about this transfer request, I want to hear your thoughts. Do you want to continue working with me, or would you prefer to be an assistant at one of our subsidiary companies?”

Blake decisively replied, “I would rather stay and work with you, Ms. Samford. I’m ready to give my all for you, and I aim to earn a million a year and get rich quickly.”

“That’s the spirit. Earning a million a year is achievable. Work hard for me, and I’ll make sure you’re well compensated.” After saying that, Cecilia surprisingly pulled out a Lamborghini key. “This is my new car, but the color doesn’t suit me. It’s yours now.”

Blake eagerly accepted the luxurious car key. When she stepped out of Cecilia’s office, she felt like she was dreaming. She pinched herself in the stairwell and wondered, ‘Am I still drunk or dreaming? A luxury car as a gift? Is Cecilia really that wealthy?’

Blake realized it was not a dream. She pocketed the key and returned to her desk, keeping a low profile to avoid envy and suspicion. Upon Blake’s return, Susan was rummaging through her desk.

“What are you doing with my stuff?” Blake asked.

Susan retorted, “You’re no longer part of the secretarial office. Didn’t you know? Mr. Harrison requested Ms. Samford to transfer you. I’m just helping you pack up so you can leave. Frankly, I’ve always disliked you. You don’t deserve to stay here.”

Blake scoffed and slammed her hand on the desk, startling Susan, and said, ” Sorry to disappoint you! Ms. Samford just told me the transfer request was rejected, so I’m still part of the secretarial office.”

Susan could not believe Blake’s words and said, “Impossible! Mr. Harrison told me he’d already made you leave.”

Blake crossed her arms and mocked Susan, “Surprised? Don’t you know that Ms. Samford has the second highest authority after Mr. Jardin himself? If you don’t believe me, go ask her yourself.”

Kevin, standing at the office door in a black suit, exuded an intimidating presence. He approached Blake’s desk and said, “I’ve received the email that your transfer request has been rejected. Blake, come to my office.”

“Sure, I’m not afraid of you,” Blake muttered as she followed behind Kevin. In the office, Blake looked disdainfully at Kevin and the mountain of paperwork on his desk.

Kevin massaged his temples and asked, “What are you thinking? Being with Liam is far better than staying with Cecilia. If it wasn’t for last night…”

Blake interrupted him, “So, you knew about last night at Eternal Seasons. You want to transfer me to Liam’s side because you’re worried that Cecilia will harm me?”

“It doesn’t matter what I know. I’m transferring you because you’re nothing but trouble,” said Kevin.

“You really know how to anger someone. If you can’t speak nicely, why not just keep your mouth shut?” Blake retorted.

She slammed the Lamborghini key on Kevin’s desk. “See this? Ms. Samford gave it to me. This key is proof that the salary she’s offering is more than enough for me to be her assistant, unlike you, a damn cheapskate.”

Kevin looked up sharply, his gaze intense. “Blake, do you really think that I won’t be able to control you just because you’re with Cecilia?”

Blake held her head high, her gaze defiant. After Blake left Kevin’s office, Susan returned all the items she had packed to their original places.

Blake opened her computer and started playing Minesweeper, not bothering to hide it. She used to play games secretly at work, but now, even if Kevin passed by, she did not flinch.

But the annoying part was Blake’s proximity to Kevin, constantly reminding her of his presence.

Chapter 1097

After Susan exited Kevin’s office, she tossed a file onto Blake’s desk with a hint of sarcasm. “Since you’re so free, here’s something you might find interesting.”

Blake, pretending to be busy, replied, ” Sorry, I’m a bit tied up right now. Can’t take on this project. If you can’t handle it, find someone else.”

Susan retorted, “You’re the least busy person here. Besides, aren’t you close with Mrs. Jardin? Mr. Harrison asked me to assign you the task of arranging the upcoming wedding decor. If you really don’t want to, then forget it.”

The mention of arranging the wedding décor for Madelyn and Zach piqued Blake’s interest.

“Hmm, a tough task, but fine, I’ll take it,” said Blake.

Susan smirked subtly and left.

Blake was surprised to be involved in Madelyn’s wedding. She checked the file and saw the venue was Eternal Seasons. “My goodness, renting the entire place must cost a fortune!”

She chuckled and took the file to a quiet balcony and dialed a familiar number.

At Southern Haven Villas, Madelyn had just finished a call with Kai. Her phone rang again, showing Blake’s name.

Blake said, “Madelyn, I have great news!”

Madelyn replied gently, “Sure sounds like it.”

Blake excitedly shared, “Yes! I’ve been tasked with managing the décor for your wedding with Mr. Jardin. And I’m in charge! Imagine that! Make sure you come and check it out. If there’s anything you dislike, I can change it. But I’m sure you’ll love it. It’s my first time arranging a wedding, but I promise to make it magical. And maybe Mr. Jardin will give me a generous check if you’re happy.”

As Blake enthusiastically shared her plans, Zach appeared behind Madelyn and embraced her, overhearing Blake’s conversation with Madelyn.

Madelyn’s expression turned subtly complex, not looking particularly happy. She responded calmly, “Sure, but don’t overexert yourself. Just something casual will do.”

Blake insisted, “I can’t just wing it! This is a once-in-a-lifetime event. Don’t worry, Madelyn, I’ll make it look like a fairy tale.”

“Okay,” Madelyn agreed.

After the call, Madelyn withdrew her hand. “Was it your idea to involve Blake in this?”

Zach replied with a deep voice, “After the wedding, I’ll make sure she’s properly rewarded. Kevin will oversee her promotion and pay raise.”

Madelyn was fully aware of the potential outcome of the wedding. She thought, ‘Zach, you’re still resorting to manipulating those close to me as a way to control me.’

Chapter 1098

Madelyn thought, ‘If the wedding doesn’t proceed smoothly, Zach won’t spare Blake. For him, dealing with her would be like crushing an ant.’

“As long as she does her job well, I won’t let her efforts go unrewarded,” Zach said with a mix of gentleness and a threatening undertone.

Then, he changed the subject. “Come downstairs and try the pasta I’ve cooked.”

“No, I’m not in the mood,” Madelyn replied.

She thought, ‘Zach, no one can tell what the future holds.’

Recently, Zach had started doing unusual things, like cooking meals for Madelyn, including different kinds of pasta. They tasted decent enough, even quite good.

“Think you can leave? You believe you can escape from me?” Zach said playfully. He suddenly pulled Madelyn toward him, lifting her off her feet and carrying her downstairs.

At the dining table, the servants presented different pastas in front of Madelyn.

Madelyn sat awkwardly on Zach’s lap and struggled slightly. “Let me down.”

Zach held Madelyn tightly by the waist and said, “Stay like this. I’ll feed you.”

Madelyn glared at him, but it had no effect on Zach. Instead, it amused him. The servants then brought a plate of boiled shrimp.

“Eat the pasta first, then the shrimp. I’ll peel them for you,” Zach suggested. Madelyn tried the seafood pasta and thought it tasted surprisingly good, almost as good as those from restaurants.

Zach fed Madelyn half the pasta, asking her to save room for the shrimp he would peel for her by hand. After the third shrimp, Madelyn felt full. She said, “I can’t eat anymore. I’ll get fat.”

Zach had oily hands as Madelyn got up from his lap. She said, “Use less oil in the pasta in the future. Too much of it isn’t healthy.”

Zach wiped his fingers and remarked, ” A little weight gain wouldn’t be bad.”

“I’m going upstairs.” Madelyn retorted and left upstairs. A maid approached Zach with a cordless phone. “Sir, Ms. Young is on the line for you.”

Zach took the phone and said coldly, ” What?”

Frida got straight to the point. “I have a shipment that only your people can handle.”

Zach stepped outside, lighting a cigarette. He asked, “Shouldn’t you be more concerned about hiding right now? Have you forgotten my previous warning?”

Frida angrily responded, “All the troubles I’m facing right now are because of you. You think I don’t know what you did to my company? Your so- called collaborations with YTCorp are worthless. Do you have any idea how expensive Yvonne’s medical bills are?”

“How dare you bring this up with me?” Zach asked.

“Zach, let me remind you, Yvonne’s condition is partially your fault. If she doesn’t recover, I won’t let you off,” said Frida Zach discarded his cigarette, his hand in his pocket, staring at the greenhouse being repaired in the distance. It was being rebuilt after the fire and they were aiming to have it completed before the wedding. The flowers were being imported from abroad, but it would take some time.

He smirked, “That depends on what the Young family’s capable of now.”

Meanwhile, Madelyn had just completed her draft in the studio. She stood up and stretched, easing her stiff neck as she gazed out at the night sky.

Chapter 1099

Madelyn picked up her phone and realized it was already 7:30 p.m. Just then, a maid’s voice echoed in the hallway. “Sir, are you heading out?”

Madelyn was distracted by the maid’s words and opened the door to see Zach impeccably dressed in a black suit, preparing to leave.

‘It’s unusual for him to go out at this time. Something must have come up.” Madelyn thought to herself.

Curious, Madelyn asked, “Where are you rushing off to this late?”

Zach turned to Madelyn and replied, ” Just some business matters. I’ll be back soon.”

Madelyn watched Zach descend the stairs without revealing her emotions.

She felt a sudden unease minutes after hearing the car drive away. She recalled overhearing the phone call from Frida earlier in the afternoon.

‘Is Zach going to meet her?’ Madelyn wondered. Madelyn rushed downstairs and intended to tail Zach. She wanted to find out what Zach was up to. The maid stopped Madelyn, “Madam, it’s late, and Mr. Jardin said that you shouldn’t go out.”

Madelyn had just put on her shoes and was about to leave when lightning suddenly flashed through the dark sky.

At the doorway, she noticed the black car was gone without a trace. She looked at the sky and felt the rain was on its way as the thunder echoed.

Then, Madelyn heard Dalton’s cries from upstairs. She stood at the entrance, unsure what to do next. The rain began to hit her, wetting her elegant face.

A maid quickly shielded Madelyn with an umbrella and said, “Madam, please come back inside. The rain’s heavy, and Dalton is crying. If you catch a cold, Mr. Jardin won’t be happy with us.”

Madelyn returned inside just as the rain intensified. The maid was relieved that Madelyn had not been drenched by the rain.

Back in the second-floor study, Madelyn found some peace from the thunderclaps. Margaret handed her the crying Dalton and said, “Madam, he’s been crying for a while.”

Madelyn held Dalton in her arms and instructed Margaret, “Prepare some warm milk.”

Once alone, Madelyn picked up an old- fashioned landline phone and dialed a number.

At SereneCare Hospital, Kai had just finished performing a surgery and returned to the maternity ward to care for Lana, feeding her porridge.

Lana’s gaze toward Kai was a mix of familiarity and strangeness, different from the man in her dreams. Each time she was about to see him clearly, she would suddenly wake up, feeling a deep pain in her heart.

The nurse reassured Kai, “Don’t worry, Dr. Stewart. I’ll take good care of your wife.”

Kai felt his phone vibrating in his pocket. He stood up and said, “I need to take this call.”

Chapter 1100

Kai teased, “You’re calling me this late? Did you and Zach have another fight?”

Madelyn was not in the mood for jokes. She replied, “Zach got a call from the Young family this afternoon and now he’s gone out again. He never leaves on rainy days like this. I’m worried he’s up to no good. I need you to track him and see what he’s up to.”

Kai glanced at Lana in the ward and said, “Do you know where he went? Even if I go, I can’t stop him. You know that.”

Madelyn asserted, “I can stop him!”

She knew that she was Zach’s weakness. If Zach was truly up to something, she could intervene.

Zach had always been lawless, but he could not escape eventual consequences. Madelyn did not want to see him fall and drag others down with him.

Madelyn continued, “Every time he goes out at these hours, it’s never for anything good. Last time, I smelled something on him that I recognized from my father’s banquets. It’s the same scent I’ve smelled on people after they’ve used a certain type of illegal drug.”

Kai firmly replied, “That’s impossible. Zach has cleaned up his act. He wouldn’t touch those substances unless someone is threatening him.”

After a pause, Kai added, “Okay, I’ll try to find his location. If there’s any news, I’ll call you.”

Madelyn interjected, “You don’t need to look. I know where he is.”

She explained that Zach had installed a tracking system on her phone linked to his, so she always knew his whereabouts.

Kai left the hospital after instructing the maid about taking care of Lana. Lana watched him go without any attempt to stop him. She wondered if he truly loved her or was more attached to Madelyn.

After Kai received the coordinates from Madelyn, he drove toward the location. He said, “Madelyn, Zach definitely knows about these tricks. His current location might be a decoy.”

Madelyn hesitated, “But he has his phone with him.”

Kai replied, “No one can outsmart him, but I think I know where he might be. Get some rest, and I’ll call if there’s news.”

Kai knew how Zach thought and was certain he could not be easily deceived. He was familiar with Zach’s ways. Only matters concerning Madelyn could spur him into action like this.

It was strange that Frida would just leave her villa and vanish. In fact, there was only one place she might be, and that was the Arnold residence, where only the main building was left.

At the Arnold residence, Yvonne was undergoing plastic surgery. She was sedated but still conscious. She stared at the ceiling, her eyes filled with resentment, haunted by images of Zach and Madelyn’s intimacy.
