The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 581
Madelyn had a rough night’s sleep. She woke up a little after six. Her head throbbed as she went downstairs.” Maybe I caught a cold because I left the window open,’ she thought, noticing how chilly the mornings had become compared to the warm days.
When she was in the living room downstairs, she saw a servant cleaning the kitchen. It looked like she had just started cleaning. There was a mess on the floor with broken plates scattered around. Madelyn asked, “What happened here?
“Ms. Jent,” the servant called her before explaining, “It was probably due to a mouse last night. Mr. Jardin instructed that all the dishes in the kitchen be replaced to avoid contamination.”
Madelyn looked around and asked, Where’s Margaret?”
The servant responded, “She has been assigned to the backyard. She should be washing vegetables now. Do you need something from her? Should I call her for you?”
“It’s fine.” Madelyn smiled slightly. She then found the medicine box below the cabinet and took two headache pills.
After that, she went to open the refrigerator in the kitchen, she noticed, “What happened to those fruit juices I used to drink?”
The servant responded, “Mr. Jardin said those fruit juices contained additives and weren’t healthy. So, he replaced them all with milk. What kind of fruit juice do you want to drink? I can make a fresh one for you.”
Madelyn did not respond. She just poured a glass of warm water. She thought, ‘Now that he’s been relieved from his position, he’s so free that he takes care of these kinds of things? He sure has a lot of free time.’
At eight-thirty in the morning, Madelyn went upstairs to change into a new set of clothes. When she was having her breakfast alone, there was a book on color theory open beside her.
Just then, she heard the sound of a car outside the entrance. Madelyn turned her head to glance at it. Not long later, she saw Zach walk into the house. He was followed by Jadie and Rosario, whom she had not seen in a long time.
Madelyn’s expression was neither pleasant nor unpleasant. She expressionlessly turned her head back and continued to eat her oatmeal.
Madelyn believed bringing Rosario back to the Jent residence was Zach’s decision. She could not think of anyone else. Now that Hayson was ill, Zach controlled everything in the family. Even though Madelyn was the lady of the family, she was merely a figurehead.
She had always wanted to stay out of everything. Zach pulled a chair and sat down beside her. Jadie was supporting Rosario as she said, “Be careful.”
Madelyn’s presence seemed unneeded now that she was considered an outsider. She set her spoon down and closed her book, standing up quietly.
“You’re hardly eating. Finish before heading to your room,” Zach told her. “I don’t have any appetite,” Madelyn’s voice was cold.
Since Rosario came into the house, she couldn’t take her eyes off Madelyn. When Madelyn started to leave, Rosario quickly got up, guilt and sadness in her eyes. Even though Rosario was sick and had spent a long time in the hospital,
Madelyn found it hard to feel sorry for her. Although Madelyn would never forgive her, she still wanted to come back to the Jent residence to atone for her actions. Madelyn remembered the deep hurt of betrayal by someone she had trusted.
The pain was sharp when she thought about how Rosario had poisoned her for years, making it impossible for her to have kids. ‘How could I ever forgive that?’ she thought.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 582
Madelyn went to Hayson’s room. She saw a caregiver feeding Hayson medicine. Madelyn asked, “What medicine are you feeding him?”
The caregiver glanced at Madelyn, ” This is the medication for treating Mr. Jent’s stroke.”
Madelyn saw that Hayson had opened his eyes. He was awake, but he looked out of it. All of a sudden, he started to shake and then threw up the medicine.
Quickly, the caregiver put the medicine bottle down and began wiping him off. Madelyn, watching from the side, saw the annoyed look on the caregiver’s face. After a hasty cleanup, the caregiver tried to give him the medicine again. But Hayson threw up again, and this time it was even worse. Even from where Madelyn stood, she could smell the bad odor. She pulled back the blanket and saw that the bed was wet with urine.
The caregiver frowned as she said, “Ms.. Jent, you should leave for now. I need to change his clothes.”
Madelyn said firmly, “I’ll handle it. Please get the medicine ready and bring me a copy of the prescription.”
The caregiver, Amber Upton, hesitated, “Mr. Jardin assigned me this responsibility. I’m not sure I should step away.” Madelyn’s voice instantly turned cold, ‘ This is my home, not his. I’m letting you know now that you’re no longer needed.”
Amber stood her ground, “Ms. Jent, you can’t just fire me without a valid reason. Our contract states you’d owe me triple compensation if you do.”
Unfazed, Madelyn said, “Whatever the cost, I want you out. I’ll make sure you’re paid according to the contract. Now, please leave.”
Amber shot back, “Mr. Jardin hired me. He’s the only one who can let me go.”
Madelyn said, “Well, think about it carefully then. If I talk to him and he tells you to leave, you won’t see a dime. Huffily, Amber stormed out of the room. Madelyn had suspected Amber’s intentions since yesterday. In her eyes, anyone employed by Zach was not to be trusted.
Wanting to freshen the room, Madelyn opened the windows and doors, allowing the fresh air to waft in and dispel the unpleasant smells.
Amber went downstairs. Three people were having their breakfast at the table. She mumbled as she approached Zach, “Mr. Jardin, I’m sorry, but I can’t continue working here. Just now, Ms. Jent went upstairs and didn’t seem satisfied with my work. She got angry and fired me.’
Zach replied casually, “Alright then. We’ll pay out your salary as agreed. It’ll be in your account promptly.”
Amber did not expect to get such a response. ‘I was making five thousand dollars a month here. Being let go like this… How will I find such a good paying job again?’ she pondered.
She could not help but feel reluctant to leave. “Mr. Jardin, you see… I was doing my job well, but I got dismissed suddenly. I’ve worked for just a few days. Isn’t this a bit unreasonable?”
Jadie slowly said, “Madelyn doesn’t seem like the type of person who’d target someone without any reason. Zach, could there be a misunderstanding? I heard jobs are hard to find now because of the financial crisis. Should we ask Madelyn to let her stay?”
After Zach was done eating, he carefully wiped his mouth, “Clause fifteen of the contract clearly states that I have the right to hire and terminate you at any time. She’s the heiress of the Jent family. I don’t think I need to explain this to you. If she wants you gone, it’s her right.”
Amber tried to speak, “But…”
Zach stopped her, “No ‘buts’.”
Jadie tried again, “Zach…”
He looked at her sternly, “This is about the Jent family. Jadie, don’t butt in unless you’re asked.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 583
Zach went upstairs and saw the master bedroom door was open. Madelyn carefully helped Hayson, now clean, out of the bathroom. She got him settled in the wheelchair and then dried his hair with a hairdryer. His dirty clothes and bedsheet were scattered on the floor.
After finished drying his hair, Madelyn combed it. The weather today was quite nice. She wanted to let Hayson enjoy some sunlight. As soon as she turned around, she noticed Zach standing at the doorway out of nowhere. She faintly glanced at him before grabbing a blanket from the closet to drape it over Hayson’s legs.
She was lost in her thoughts, ‘No matter what, his blood is in me. I’m his daughter. This is a fact that’ll never change. Even though he’s only treated me as a tool for marriage for business purposes, he’s never mistreated me growing up.
“This family is ruined now. He and I can only rely on each other. If he were to really pass away one day, Zach’s next target would be me.’
Hayson was still in the wheelchair. His hands and feet were twitching slightly. His stroke condition was unstable. Madelyn picked up the dirty clothes from the floor and put them in a laundry basket before placing the basket outside the door. The servant would take it away for washing later.
Zach watched her as she moved back and forth. It seemed that she could not stop once she got busy. After picking up the clothes, she started busy cleaning and tidying something else. She made the bed with skilled movements as if she had done these actions dozens of times. Whatever she did, she did it orderly.
Zach walked into the room, “It seems like you’re more suitable to be a servant than to be the lady of a household. Madelyn, we have servants in the house. There are tasks that you don’t need to do personally.”
After Madelyn finished making the bed, she stared at him calmly and said, “I won’t trust a servant whom I don’t know her origin. From now on, I’ll take care of my father personally. You don’t need to worry.”
She thought, ‘We both know what’s really happening. He clearly has bad intentions. Yet, he still speaks so kindly for no reason.’
Zach responded, “You’re so filial and sensible. Why’d I be worried?” Instead of Madelyn going overseas, Zach would prefer her to stay within his sights. Kevin appeared at the door, “Mr. Jardin.”
Zach walked out of the room. In the study upstairs, Kevin reported recent company affairs. After the Arnold Corporation took over the Azure Corporation, many of Zach’s trusted subordinates had been suppressed and some had been fired.
Zach had anticipated that the Arnold Corporation would take such actions. He was not surprised. Eliminating unnecessary obstacles had always been the Arnold Corporation’s style.
Kevin said, “Not long ago, the Arnold Corporation was reviewing the finances. They found out several bad debts that the Azure Corporation hadn’t collected. The newly appointed person in charge sent someone privately to collect these debts.
However, not long later, we discovered that the original five million debt on the financial collection sheet had been tampered with. Over four million dollars was removed. I guess someone wanted to keep it for themselves.”
Zach responded, “It’s his capability to be able to recover those bad debts.” Kevin replied, “Now, Arnold Corporation’s legal dept is dealing with this matter. They want to recover the money through legal proceedings.”
Zach was playing with the metal pen in his hand. Kevin did not know what he was thinking.
Kevin spoke again, “Mark Musk is nothing more than a money-grabbing person. Ethan probably turned a blind eye and accepted what he did. Now, there are fewer than ten old employees of the Azure Corporation left, except for a few technical salespersons. If this goes on, what you did before will be overturned very soon.
“If we don’t do something now, Azure Corporation might really have nothing to do with the Jent family in the future.”
For the sake of establishing a foothold for Azure Corporation, Zach had spent a lot of time and effort. After finally making some progress for the company, Ethan’s words had now brought all of Zach’s efforts to naught.
After a while, Zach lifted his head. His gaze was deep, “We don’t need to care about Azure Corporation from now on.”
Kevin frowned slightly, “Don’t care? What about the projects we previously obtained? Won’t it all be in vain?
“For just that piece of land in Alma alone, I heard about the new policy, the buildings in the surrounding poor housing areas will all be demolished and rebuilt into a new economic zone.
“By then, its total value will increase at least a hundred times. In a few more years, it’ll be sufficient for you to make a comeback.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 584
Zach said in a calm voice, “Kevin, I’m thinking about the future, not just now. I made this decision for a reason. Just do as I say.” He took a letter from his drawer and placed it in front of Kevin.” There’s something more important you need to handle.”
“What’s this?!” Kevin opened the letter and looked shocked. “A company registration application?”
“Yeah,” Zach answered, “If I hang onto Azure Corporation, Ethan Arnold will continue to target me, and it’ll go under. Since there’s already trouble, we might as well start over. Find the folks who left Azure and ask them to come back. If they do, they’ll get a bump in their paycheck.”
Kevin thought for a moment and then asked, “How are we gonna pay for all this?”
“I’ve got that covered. Just get started.”
“Okay.”
Turns out, Zach had some money from Randall to kick off a new Azure Corporation.
He had been stressing out. What if Azure Corporation went down with him in charge? He knew Madelyn would be heartbroken and blamed him. Plus, he didn’t want to put any pressure on her, except maybe for them to get closer.
Now, Zach had a clear goal. There were things he couldn’t do himself. When Kevin was on his way leaving the Jent residence, he ran into Madelyn, who was just about to go upstairs.
Madelyn walked past Kevin without even noticing him. She went back to her room with a glass of water. Hayson was asleep. She started reading a book about taking care of people who had a stroke.
With how things were going, Madelyn thought she might not be able to go back to Paris for a while.
She couldn’t just leave things as they were. The next time she came back, Hayson, her only family, might not be around anymore. She thought to herself, ‘Father’s the only family I have left… If he’s gone, then I’ll be all alone, like a child with no parents.’
Kennedy heard from Leonardo that she had returned to Venturia, so he sent her a message.
Kennedy: [I know a doctor who treats patients like this. Do you want him to check?]
Madelyn: [Yes, thank you.]
Kennedy: [No problem.]
Just as Madelyn was about to put her phone away, it rang. It was Ethan. She guessed he probably knew she was back.
She put down her book and, holding her phone, walked to a quiet balcony. She closed the door before answering. Before she could say anything, a child’s voice came through, “Daddy, Mommy took me to get a shot again today. Can you blow on it? It won’t hurt if you do.”
“Robin, it’s time for your medicine,” Donna’s voice said.
“Don’t run off!” Ethan’s voice sounded worried and annoyed. Just hearing Ethan’s voice made Madelyn’s heart race. A deep ache spread throughout her, from her chest to her fingertips.
Suddenly, her grip loosened, and the phone dropped, hitting the ground.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 585
After Robin’s surgery, he was immediately taken to the Arnold residence. Once he woke up, he started crying and calling out for his mother.
Robin had always been by Donna’s side since he was young. No servant could calm him down. He cried non-stop, and whatever he ate, he would vomit right back out. One night, he even threw up blood.
Upon hearing this, Evelyn became extremely distressed. Ignoring Ethan’s objections, she directly sent for Donna to come over. Only then did Robin finally calm down. Robin was of the Arnold family bloodline. How could she not be heartbroken for him?
After the family doctor examined him, it was concluded that there wasn’t any serious issue. He had cried so hard that he had a nosebleed, and the blood had gone into his mouth, making it seem like he was vomiting blood.
Children do have a quick recovery rate. In just a few days, Robin was able to get out of bed. Throughout this time, Donna also stayed quietly at the Arnold residence to take care of him. In the living room, Robin joyfully played with a toy plane. Donna followed behind him.
A servant carried a plate of sliced fruits to the couch and set it down. As she did, she spotted a fallen phone by her shoes. She could see that someone was still on the line, so she reached down to grab it. But by the time she held it in her hands, the call had disconnected. She did, however, catch a glimpse of the caller’s name.
“Sir, your phone fell on the ground, and I just saw-”
But she was cut off by Donna’s sharp cry.
“Ahhh!”
Ethan looked over to see Robin had fallen. Frantically, Donna scooped up Robin, chiding softly, “…I warned you about running. The floor can be slick. Especially after your surgery; you could’ve been injured. Let me check you.” She tenderly touched Robin’s slightly red hand and gave a soft puff of air.
“It doesn’t hurt at all.” Robin chuckled and ran to Ethan, climbing onto the couch and immediately sitting on his lap. “What are you looking at, Daddy?”
Ethan gazed at the phone the servant had just picked up, deep in thought. Just then, George walked in. “Sir, I need to report something.”
Ethan regained his focus and set Robin down. “Go play for a bit.” He then turned to George, asking, “What is it?”
Without avoiding Donna, George straightforwardly said, “Miss Jent suddenly returned to the Jent residence a few days ago. We found out it’s because Hayson had a stroke.”
Ethan’s expression changed. Apart from surprise, he mostly felt overwhelmed and unprepared. Looking at the little boy beside him, who bore a striking resemblance to him, he felt a heavy weight in his heart.
“…Noted. You may leave now.”
As George left, he cast a meaningful glance at Donna. Ethan picked up the phone. The phone screen turned on, and he saw the call that had connected two minutes earlier. His hand trembled slightly.
He had never felt this way before, overwhelmed with fear and panic. Above all, he feared losing Madelyn. He wondered: How much had she overheard? ‘If she didn’t already know, why didn’t she… let me know she was back?’
Ethan started for the stairs, with Robin keen on tagging along. Donna was quick, grabbing hold of Robin to stay by her side.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 586
There had to be a decision made. If Ethan chose Madelyn, it would mean losing both Donna and their child. If he truly wished to keep his child, then it would depend on whether Madelyn could accept the child’s existence.
Of course, Donna hoped that Madelyn would gracefully step back. Even if their bond was deep, she believed it couldn’t surpass the fact she had borne Ethan’s child.
Ethan made a call, and it was quickly answered. He remained silent. Madelyn inquired, “Ethan? You called me just now. Did you have something to tell me?”
Hearing her voice, which seemed to betray no unusual emotion, Ethan hesitantly said, “I must have dialed accidentally…”
Madelyn responded, “I noticed there was no sound on the other end, so I hung up. I was actually going to call you back to let you know that I’ve returned to Venturia. My father fell ill, and I need to take care of him for a few days. I’m sorry for not informing you sooner.
Somehow, Ethan felt relieved. “Okay. I’ll come over now. Maybe I can help by contacting a doctor. Is your father’s condition serious?”
Madelyn replied with a hint of detachment, “The situation isn’t clear right now. The doctor will come tomorrow. You don’t need to trouble yourself. I have some matters to attend to, so I’ll hang up now.”
“Alright, I’ll come to see you tomorrow. There was silence on the other end for a few seconds before Madelyn responded, “Mhm.”
She then ended the call. Madelyn had spent the entire day by Hayson’s bedside, attending to him with unwavering dedication. While tidying up the room, she stumbled upon a photo album tucked beneath a drawer in Hayson’s wardrobe.
Upon opening it, she found pictures of several familiar faces, yet she couldn’t recall their names. They looked like good men, but she knew they were former mafia leaders.
‘Father always seemed like a loner. I never knew he had connections with so many people in the past.’ Throughout the thick album, Madelyn couldn’t find a single picture of her mother, leaving her somewhat disheartened. Just then, there was a knock on the door. “Madelyn- I mean Ms. Jent, dinner’s ready.”
Madelyn shot Rosario an icy glare, “I’ll come down later.”
She put the album back in the drawer and stood up, noticing that Rosario was still in the room. However, she dismissively ignored Rosario’s presence and closed the window. The weather was cold, and people could easily fall sick.
“Madelyn…” Rosario began, holding back tears. Madelyn interrupted, “If there’s nothing else, please leave. I don’t wish to see you right now, and we have nothing to discuss.”
Suddenly, Rosario rushed forward and knelt before Madelyn. “It’s all my fault. Poisoned you was my idea, Madelyn… I was wrong! My past grudges blinded me. If you want to hate or punish someone, let it be me. Whatever punishment you think I deserve, I’ll accept.”
Madelyn’s face was devoid of any evident anger as she looked down at Rosario. Madelyn had been through so much in the past that nothing could faze her anymore. Yet, in her previous life, she had died without knowing that the person indirectly responsible for her death was someone so close to her.
“I’ve already forgiven you. Please stand up,” Madelyn said, her voice was calm.
“Rosario?! What are you doing?” Jadie rushed in, pulling Rosario to her feet. ” Zach?!” Jadie cast a pleading look at Zach for assistance.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 587
“Jadie, please leave.” Madelyn spoke coldly, “Everyone, leave. My father needs rest, and you are disturbing him. She turned away, no longer paying them any attention, and uninterested in watching them keeping up their act.
“Madelyn…” Rosario began, her eyes filled with sorrow, somehow turning Madelyn into the villain, as if she had done something unforgivable.
“Out!” Madelyn no longer wanted to see them. Jadie pressed her lips together,” Rosario, we should leave.”
After Rosario was helped out of the room by Jadie, Zach closed the door. Jadie didn’t know what had transpired between Rosario and Madelyn. The old Madelyn had regarded Rosario as family, while now, she treated Rosario like an enemy.
“Zach, what happened between Rosario and Madelyn?” Jadie asked, puzzled. Zach’s gaze was icy as it landed on Rosario, “In the future, don’t seek her out without my permission. If you wish to stay at the Jent residence, do what you’re supposed to do.”
Rosario, tears streaming down her face, nodded faintly. With a weary expression, she said, “Mr. Jardin, I will spend my entire life at the Jent residence atoning to Madelyn.”
Watching the slumped, retreating figure, Jadie asked, “Zach, what’s going on with Madelyn and Rosario? Are you hiding something from me?”
Ever since Rosario had been hospitalized, Jadie sensed something was off. During Rosario’s extended stay at the hospital, Madelyn hadn’t visited once. Back then, in the hospital corridor, Madelyn had ignored Rosario, departing without a second glance.
“It’s not your concern. It’s getting late; I’ll take you back to the apartment.”
“I won’t leave. Where you go, I’ll follow. Please don’t leave me…” Jadie pleaded, her eyes filled with sadness as she held onto Zach’s arm tightly. Zach’s response was firm this time, ‘ The current situation isn’t suitable for you to stay here.”
“Why? Is there something I’m not aware of? I used to live here, right? Madelyn’s looking after Mr. Jent. I can help too. Think of it as a way for me to give back for all he’s done. Can’t you let me stay, please?”
“No room for negotiation.” With a firm hand, Zach gently ushered her to his car and drove her to his apartment in Grand Court.
After dropping off Jadie, Zach returned to the Jent residence. The servant was taking Madelyn’s untouched dinner back to the kitchen. Zach asked, “She didn’t eat anything?”
The servant nodded nervously, afraid of making a mistake and getting dismissed. She explained, “Miss Jent ate breakfast, but nothing else. I tried to give her food, but she said she wasn’t hungry.”
Zach furrowed his brow without showing much emotion. “Prepare some pastina for her. Have it ready when she wants it.”
“Okay, Mr. Jardin.”
As Zach headed upstairs, he saw Madelyn coming down from the third floor. She looked like she just had a shower, with wet hair tips. She had on light pajamas and carried a book and a thin blanket.
Madelyn’s intentions were quite clear. She walked by Zach like he wasn’t there. But Zach quickly grabbed her hand. “Go back upstairs,” he said, looking right at her.
“Father shouldn’t be left alone,” she said with a distant look that she always had since she came back. “You should sleep and not worry about me.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 588
Madelyn attempted to pull her hand from Zach’s grip, but he held firm. Turning to him, her eyes displayed a hint of emotion. Her brows knitted slightly, her voice barely more than a whisper, “What do you want?”
“We have servants here. You don’t need to take care of things.”
“Servants who are loyal to you. You probably have a better idea than I do about what happened to my father. After all that’s happened, do you genuinely believe I’d trust you?” Her eyes held a challenge, but then she looked away, “No matter what happens with my father, I’ll do what’s expected of me. In the end, you’ll have control of our family’s wealth, and no one will stand in your way.”
Madelyn tried to pull away, but just as she stepped into Hayson’s room, Zach swiftly drew her back to him. All the things Madelyn held dropped to the floor. He carried her up the stairs.
His movements were decisive, almost predatory. “You seem to know so much, so why fight it?” he taunted.
When he set her down, she was backed against the wall, blocked by him. The intensity in his eyes was overwhelming, drawing ever closer until every detail of his face filled her vision. He leaned in, his strong aura surrounding her. She felt like she was caught in a big, hot fire, burning from its intensity.
Just as she felt Zach was about to kiss her, Madelyn turned her head away. Don’t make me hate you. What would people in Ventropolis say about a brother forcing himself on his own sister? Don’t forget, I am Ethan Arnold’s fiancee!”
Zach smirked, amusement dancing in his eyes. “Trying to intimidate me now? Madelyn felt an uneasy pressure in the room. Being near Zach always put her on edge, making her voice quiver, ” You’ve left me no choice.”
His fingers gently tilted her chin, a playful smile gracing his features, but the coldness behind it sent shivers down her spine. “You’ve yet to figure me out.”
In a sudden twist of aggression, he held her face firmly, his gaze frigid and threatening. “I’ve never been one to weigh consequences when I truly want something.”
Without warning, he pressed his lips onto hers. She resisted, and summoning all her might, she stepped hard on his foot, managing to push him back.
Seeing an opportunity, Madelyn reached for a crafting knife on the desk, pointing it in his direction, “One more step and I won’t hesitate.”
Amused, Zach approached her slowly, Can you even handle that knife? If you injure yourself, I’d be rather upset.”
To him, her threats felt empty, as if he was convinced she wouldn’t dare act. As Zach closed the distance between them, panic clouded Madelyn’s eyes. In a sudden move, she pressed the craft knife to her own neck.
As expected, Zach halted his step with a frown. Trapped and scared, Madelyn found courage in her voice, “…I’m not like you, able to hurt people without caring. Listen, even if you have power over the Jent family, I’ve never been scared of you.”
She went on, “Even if today is my end, you better not lay a finger on me again. You and Jasmine are plotting together, aren’t you? She’s even having your baby. You’re perfect for each other. I try to stay far away from you every day, hoping something takes you away from me. Just seeing you makes my skin crawl!”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 589
‘He’s always around so many women, who knows how many he’s been fooling around before me.’ She thought Zach was disgusting, yet she couldn’t help feeling the same about herself. How she wished their paths had never crossed.
From downstairs, Jasmine’s voice drifted up as she ascended the stairs.” Zach, did you make Madelyn upset again?” When she reached the door, she didn’t seem shocked when she saw what was happening in the room. Instead, she just smiled at Zach, “Why do you always get her worked up? Talk to me instead.”
It was clear from how Jasmine looked at Zach that they had something special. “Leave! This is MY room. Talk somewhere else,” Madelyn said, putting down the craft knife in her hand. There was a small cut on her neck that was bleeding a little.
Madelyn didn’t conceal the contempt in her eyes for them. To her, the relationships in this house were all tangled up and messed up. It felt as if the house were a decaying swamp, and everyone was trapped, unable to break free.
“Madelyn, don’t play with that knife. You could get hurt.” Jasmine’s words only made Madelyn more annoyed.
“If you won’t go, then I will. This room’s all yours.” Madelyn just wanted to be far away from them. Madelyn quickly stepped away as Zach tried to grab her. But she swung the knife up in defense, and Zach ended up with a cut on his hand.
She took a deep breath, trying not to show her fear. Her eyes seemed to say,” Try that again, and see what happens.”
Zach stared back, his eyes full of anger and something darker. Suddenly, he slapped Jasmine, making her fall. “You…”
“Have the servants been treating you too well lately? You’ve become so careless with your words,” Zach said angrily, putting his foot on Jasmine’s ankle.
With a defiant tone, Jasmine spoke up, I don’t like how you treat Madelyn. And the nicer you are to her, the more I want to show her who you really are. As long as I’m here, she’ll always wonder if the baby is yours. She’ll keep trying to get away from you.”
Jasmine tried to stand, but the more she moved, the harder Zach pressed on her ankle.
Despite the pain, she provoked him, “It must hurt to be wounded by someone you care about, Zach Jardin! If she ever learns that you ordered Rosalia to poison Hayson the same way you guys poison her, don’t you think she’ll hate you enough to kill you?”
The wound on the back of Zach’s hand wasn’t deep, but it was bleeding. Madelyn had definitely not held back. If Zach hadn’t moved quickly, the cut might have been bone-deep.
That night, the bodyguards were called off, and Madelyn had already escaped to the neighboring mansion, the place Ethan had previously stayed, for some rest.
In his room, with only a bedside lamp on, Zach was wrapping the wound with gauze. Suddenly, he saw a light turn on in the mansion next door. He noticed a figure inside, moving around with a blanket. Within minutes, the light went out.
Zach lowered his eyes, lost in deep thought. While some find peace in sleep, others lay restless throughout the night.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 590
Madelyn got up at eight-thirty in the morning. She walked into the living room, and her bodyguards looked at each other. Breakfast was already on the table. But then, she heard a loud noise from upstairs, like something had broken.
Zach was still sitting on the couch, reading the news. He didn’t look up but said, “Hold on, eat first before heading upstairs.”
Rosario was busy in the kitchen and smiled when she saw Madelyn. There were so many yummy foods on the table, and a lot of them were things Madelyn liked. Madelyn replied, “I’m good, I had some pasta already.”
With a ‘snap,’ Zach closed the newspaper. He stood and walked over, saying loudly, “You can’t go out at night anymore.”
Madelyn ignored him and started walking up the stairs.
She stopped halfway and turned to say, “I’ll make my own food from now on. I don’t want anyone putting weird stuff in it.”
Clang!
Rosario, who was preparing a meal in the kitchen, accidentally dropped something, and it broke into many pieces.
Half an hour later, a doctor who practiced alternative medicine came to the Jent residence, right on schedule. Madelyn got the call and went downstairs to welcome him.
The doctor was an older man with gray hair. He had a big medical bag. Madelyn tried to help him with it, but he said, ” It’s pretty heavy, young lady. You shouldn’t carry it. Can you show me to the patient?”
“Okay.”
She took him upstairs. After checking on Hayson, the doctor did a special needle treatment. Hayson seemed to get better and wasn’t shaking as much.
“Doctor, how is my father? When will he be better?”
The doctor replied, “Looking from an alternative medicine point of view, his blood flow isn’t great, and his organs are weak. This might be because of how he lifestyle and what he eats. I used a needle treatment on him. Later, you can get some herbs from my clinic. If you follow my advice and massage him for 30 minutes every day, he could get better in about three months.”
“Alright, thank you,” Madelyn said. Three months would mean pushing back her training courses. But for Hayson’s health, Madelyn was ready to do whatever it took. She couldn’t leave him alone, especially in the Jent residence where she felt she couldn’t trust anyone else.
Madelyn left the mansion with the doctor in the car to pick up the prescribed herbs. Madelyn waited at the clinic for about fifteen minutes before she was handed the medicine. The Jent family’s car was parked right outside.
As she stepped out, she caught sight of a luxury car she recognized. A man holding a child stepped out, followed by a woman, and they all walked toward the nearby mall. Leyton was driving when he saw Madelyn. His heart beat fast as he wondered, ‘Did she see them?’
He checked behind him. Ethan, Donna, and Robin were already inside the mall. Suddenly, Madelyn’s car began to move. The driver, looking confused, asked, ‘ Miss Jent, was that Mr. Arnold?”
Madelyn simply replied, “No, it wasn’t him.”
