The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 771
There is a universal truth no one can escape from: every action has its consequences. Zach would find that out soon, and Madelyn was waiting for that day.
Rosario’s closest friend was Margaret. After Rosario’s unexpected passing, which the police believed was an accident, Margaret took care of all the arrangements. She organized a quiet funeral and buried Rosario in a peaceful spot that Rosario had chosen. Among Rosario’s belongings, Margaret discovered hair ties for a young girl and a pink princess dress. Recognizing them, she realized they must have been Madelyn’s from when she was little and stored them safely in a bag.
At SereneCare Hospital, Kai sat in his office with his head down, rubbing the bridge of his nose. He had been poring over this report all night.
‘So I got it wrong the whole time?
Madelyn is actually Alicia’s daughter and isn’t related to Hayson at all. Darn it! How’d I miss that? What the hell have I been doing all these years?’
“Dr. Stewart.” Someone knocked at the door.
Looking up, Kai said, “Come in.”
“Dr. Stewart, Ms. Lana Paine is here. She didn’t schedule an appointment but wants to chat with you.”
Kai replied, “I’m swamped right now. Tell her I’m not in.” Before the assistant could reply, there was a distinct click-clack of heels approaching.
“You probably wouldn’t have time on your schedule for me, so I decided to drop by in person,” Lana chimed in from the doorway. Kai glanced at the assistant, clearly not thrilled. “Step outside.”
“Sure thing, Dr. Stewart,” the assistant replied as they exited. Lana had returned home three months ago. They had barely seen each other since then, but ultimately, Lana gave in and came to see him. She was shocked to see him so agitated. His bloodshot eyes and exhausted face showed it all.
Kai locked the documents into a drawer. Seeing Lana, whom he had not encountered in three years, he noticed how her time abroad had lent her an added elegance. Her long hair and flowing dress always brought him a sense of peace.
“You came by earlier than I expected,” Kai said. Mustering courage, Lana looked up to meet his eyes. “Is it true that you’ll only help him if I sleep with you?”
Kai stood up and approached Lana. As he gently lifted her chin, a sly smile appeared on his face, but his eyes remained cold and distant.
“I’m glad you’re finally seeing things clearly. If Andrew’s condition means he’s not there for you, remember that I can provide everything he can and more. Don’t you want to make the most of your life?”
Lana pulled away. “If you want to do it, do it now. Let’s skip the games.”
Kai answered, “Not today. When I need you, I’ll call.” He grabbed his jacket from the chair and walked toward the door.
She hurriedly tried to keep up. “Kai, he doesn’t have much time left. Can you please help him? I’m begging you.”
He ignored her and entered the elevator. As the doors began to close, Lana, not thinking of her safety, dashed in. Kai quickly pulled her inside. Because of her high heels, she lost her balance and leaned into him, hands pressed against his chest.
“Are you trying to get yourself hurt?” he asked.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 772
“Can you help him? I’ll do anything,” she said.
Lana searched everywhere for a treatment for Andrew, but no hospital could diagnose his condition. Surprisingly, Kai, better known for his playful nature, was highly respected in the medical community. Most doctors recommended her to consult him. She eventually found a hospital that tried to help Andrew, but his condition worsened. Having no other option, Lana came back home.
Kai headed to the parking garage. As he got into his car, Lana quickly slid into the passenger seat. Kai said, “Get out.”
Lana replied, “Not until you agree.”
She thought she was being straightforward and assertive, but Kai assumed she was trying to seduce him.
“Are you that eager to get intimate with me?”
Lana shot him a sharp look. “If it weren’t for Andrew, I’d never even go near you.” Their relationship had been a mistake from the very beginning.
Kai smirked, unfazed. He started the car and drove out of the parking garage. As the city disappeared in the distance, Lana became more and more anxious. They reached a cliff with a stunning view of Ventropolis, surrounded by endless mountains. It was a scene Lana had never experienced. After parking, Kai reclined his seat and dozed off.
Lana nudged him. “Kai, wake up! Andrew’s in bad shape, and he’s your brother. How can you be so indifferent? Do you want to see him suffer?”
Kai’s eyes, bloodshot from exhaustion, opened wide. Realizing he had unbuckled his seatbelt, he suddenly moved, pinning Lana beneath him.
“Andrew’s going to be fine. I’m not in the mood now, so give me some space,” he murmured.
Lana pushed against him. “What’s going on? Give me some room.” “This is on you, Lana,” he said, sounding drained. He leaned in, his head close to her neck, inhaling the subtle scent of her perfume.
“Come on, get up. Don’t lean on me. Kai slid her car seat back, making a bit more space. Lana tried to find a comfortable spot, but it was a tight fit.
“I’m a little cramped here. Can you move over?” she pleaded. After a few moments, Kai’s steady breathing told Lana he was asleep. Suddenly, Kai’s phone rang loudly. He blinked awake and quickly grabbed it.
Lana, startled, tried to sit up, but Kai’s arm kept her steady. He glanced at her before answering, “Hello, Agustin?”
“You were at Portsmouth Fishing Village yesterday, right?” Agustin asked. Kai focused on Lana, his expression turning serious. “Yes, I was.”
“There’s been some news. She’s… she’s gone. Was that your doing?”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 773
Kai let go of Lana, stepped out of the passenger seat, and answered his phone. “She’s dead?” he asked.
“You weren’t involved?”
After a brief silence, Kai said, “I’ll investigate.”
He had no motive to kill Rosario, especially knowing she did not have much time left. If he had wanted her gone, he would have done it quietly, not blatantly. The leads were now lost. For years, Kai had been searching for the torn pages from Alicia’s diary. Those pages contained the truth about certain past events.
Kai had taken a brief ten-minute nap and was completely drained. When he turned, he collided with Lana. She teetered backward, about to fall, but Kai was quick to steady her.
“Can you drive?” he asked. Lana, with a hint of skepticism, replied, “What do you want to do?”
“Drive back to the hospital once we’re off this mountain,” Kai said, handing her the keys. Kai needed a break. As he took the passenger seat, he quickly fell asleep, evident from his steady breathing.
Lana got into the driver’s seat, started the car, and drove to the hospital, a journey that took almost two hours.
As she parked, the movement caused Kai’s continuously ringing phone to tumble out of his pocket. She picked it up, noting the hospital’s caller ID. Hesitating briefly, she did not want to disturb Kai’s sleep but answered anyway.
“Hello?”
An anxious voice replied, “Dr. Stewart, there’s been an emergency with Ms. Young. Please hurry.”
Lana was about to wake Kai when she saw he was already reaching for his phone. She jumped a little in surprise, wondering, ‘When did he wake up?’
Kai held the phone to his ear and asked, “What exactly happened?”
A worried nurse answered, “We just got the results; Ms. Young had a sudden cardiac arrest. She has internal bleeding in her chest and needs right away.” surgery Lana overheard and was shocked. ‘ Internal bleeding? What’s going on with the Young family?’
She grabbed the car key and rushed after Kai. In the pre-op room, Kai changed into his surgical scrubs. “What caused these complications?”
The nursing assistant, looking worried, answered, “She was at Southern Haven Villas. The villa’s owner might know more.”
Kai’s mind raced to Zach. ‘Could he be involved?’ Then, voicing another concern, he asked, “Where’s the family?” Under normal circumstances, Yvonne would have been here by now.
The nurse said, “A private plane exploded. Rescuers believe it belonged to the Young family. Mrs. Jardin and Mr. Arnold were on board.”
Kai’s face showed his shock. ‘I feared something like this. Zach, what have you done?’ He was mostly worried about how Madelyn’s body might react. Her condition could get worse. He had been thinking all night about ways to assist her, but each idea seemed unlikely to succeed.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 774
Remembering the prescription he had eagerly given to Zach filled Kai with guilt. ‘My action led to Alicia losing her only daughter.’
A past promise he made as a child now weighed heavily on his mind. At eight, standing next to the radiant Alicia and looking at a starry sky, he had said, “If you ever have a daughter, Ms. Wood, I’ll look out for her like a big brother.”
Alicia smiled warmly. “I can see you being a wonderful big brother. And if I’m not around,” she had added, her tone more serious, “promise me you’ll take care of her.”
Kai, even as a young boy, had taken the promise to heart. “I promise.”
Yet, thinking of it now, he felt a pang of sorrow. ‘I was supposed to protect her. If Madelyn dies, I’m to blame.’
Lana waited outside the operating room, watching as Kai, dressed in blue scrubs, went inside. She was not used to seeing him so serious; his usual self was so playful.
After a short nap, Madelyn came down to the living room, feeling hungry.” Margaret, did someone stop by? I could’ve sworn I heard voices.”
“Ms. Jent, that was not Margaret you heard. Don’t you recall? She’s on a break and won’t return until later in the week.”
“Oh, right.” Concern washed over Madelyn. Lately, she had been forgetting things more and more. After lunch, the maid got a call from Zach. “She’s upstairs with the baby. She had some questions earlier but seemed okay.” She filled him in and hung up hurriedly to avoid rousing Madelyn’s suspicion.
About the plane crash near Ventropolis Zach made sure it stayed out of the headlines; no newspapers covered the story. Once he finished downstairs, Zach headed to the bedroom. Inside, he found Madelyn asleep, the baby nestled beside her. Feeling the bed shift, Madelyn sensed Zach’s presence. A gentle arm rested on her, bringing with it a hint of cold-clearly, he had been outside.
“I just put on this sleeping gown. Make sure you don’t get it dirty,” Madelyn said. Zach gently pulled her close. “You look tired. Get some more sleep.”
He gently touched Madelyn’s waist. He was in high spirits today, having bought gifts for her and the baby. Zach had initially planned to settle in Paris, but after talking with Madelyn, he changed his mind about leaving so soon.
Madelyn felt uneasy, and Zach’s return did not help. “You’re holding me too tight,” she said, gasping slightly.
Zach relaxed his grip a bit. “I’m thinking of hosting a big party at Supreme World for our child.”
Hearing this, Madelyn responded quickly, gently pushing his hand away. “Why do you always act without thinking? If someone asks about us and about the child, what am I supposed to say? I’m not your wife, Zach. This whole situation is just pretend.”
She could not understand why he was so into this fake relationship.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 775
“He’s legitimate because I say so. I will let everyone know that Dalton Jardin is my son, “Zach declared.
Zach was not discussing this with Madelyn; he merely told her what he planned to do. Madelyn could never stop Zach from doing whatever he wanted. Sometimes, even she would not know what Zach was thinking.
“I can’t allow you to do that. You should put the child under my name. Then he would be my child and have no relation to you. Besides, leaving Ventropolis is your business. I won’t be going with you,” Madelyn said calmly to Zach. He had his plans, while Madelyn had her convictions.
‘Father… No… I don’t even know if I should call him ‘Father,” Madelyn thought. She was staying in Ventropolis because there were still many things she needed to understand. Most importantly, Madelyn wanted to know whether she was Hayson’s biological daughter.
However, she did not want their arguing to wake Dalton up. Madelyn got up and left the room. She walked to the living room downstairs to pour herself a cup of warm water. Standing before the table with a cup of water, she stared blankly while thinking.
Zach went behind her and hugged her. He tenderly whispered, “Let’s get married when we go to France. Hm?” Zach kissed the nape of her neck, which left a tingly feeling.
“Marriage? What makes you think I would get married to you?” Madelyn questioned. Her hand gripped her cup tightly while her expression was apathetic. However, her heart was trembling.
She reminded him, “Don’t forget, you’ve tried to kill me multiple times! Now you turn around to tell me to get married? Don’t you think it’s hilarious?
Besides, you’re also already married, Zach.”
Madelyn flung his arm away to start making the formula milk for Dalton.
‘He’s exactly the same as he was during his previous life. To him, marriage is just a game. He married Yvonne for profit, just like back then.’
Now that Zach had gotten everything he wanted, he was going to get rid of Yvonne, making him no different from an ungrateful playboy.
On the other hand, Yvonne was experiencing what Madelyn had gone through in her past life. No one besides her could understand the pain of betrayal from the man you love. It was this pain that caused her to be depressed and almost lose her mind a few times.
“Yvonne’s loved you for many years, so you shouldn’t betray her feelings. You shouldn’t divorce her, or you’ll regret it in the future. You can still turn back now,” Madelyn advised him.
Zach held onto her hand and smiled. He asked her, “Are you doubting yourself? You’ll be the only person by my side, Madelyn. How about that?”
Since she cared about legitimacy so much, Zach would give it to her. He figured that at most, all he had to do was just hold another wedding banquet.
Madelyn thought, ‘Did he treat Cecilia the same way, too? He never cares about the people who love him. In my past life, Zach knew exactly how much I loved him, yet he never once cared for me!’
Madelyn averted her gaze and pulled her hand away. She avoided his question, “I’ll go upstairs to care for Dalton.”
Madelyn took the prepared milk formula and went upstairs. When she returned to the room, Dalton was already awake. He was lying down on the bed while playing with tissues. Once he saw Madelyn, he laughed joyfully.
Madelyn had a smile on her face as she sat by the bed. She held him in her arms. Dalton still had some saliva on his mouth and rubbed his face on her chest.
“You can’t bite this spot, okay?” Madelyn told him.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 776
Madelyn was still concerned about what Zach had said. ‘Marry me? Marriage? He must’ve gone crazy!’ Madelyn thought.
She then absent-mindedly wiped the saliva off Dalton’s face. Dalton saw the pacifier near his mouth, so he bit down and sucked on it. He lay down in her arms while staring at Madelyn. Madelyn lowered her head and smiled, caressing Dalton’s face.
His initial skinny face and brittle hair were totally different now. His cheeks were chubbier, while his hair had grown thicker and darker. Madelyn somehow knew he would grow into a troublemaker by gazing into his eyes. As Zach stepped into the room, the phone in his pocket rang. He took it out to check the caller ID. When his gaze landed on Madelyn, embracing the child, Zach went to his study instead, only accepting the call after he reached the windowsill.
“What’s the matter?” Zach asked. Kai had just finished doing surgery on Frida. He came out of the surgery room and sat down on his chair. He asked tiredly while massaging his temples, ” How long can you hide the Young family’s matter from her?”
Zach retorted, “Since when did you start caring about my business?”
Kai was silent for a while before saying, “We’re in the same boat. If you sink, I won’t be benefiting from it.”
Zach smiled and asked, “You’ve turned over a new leaf?” Kai continued, “Quite a few people in the hospital already know about the Young family’s situation. I’ve already taken care of it, but you have to take care of things on your end so news doesn’t spread.”
Zach’s addiction was kicking in, so he put a cigarette in his mouth and lit it. After taking a puff, he said, “My affairs are none of your concern. Mind your own business.”
“Zach! Your biggest weakness is your arrogance. You can’t hide the news of Ethan dying in that car crash from her for long. You can imprison her for a while, but you can’t imprison her for the rest of her life. You know better than me that Madelyn can’t endure this kind of emotional strain. This news would be a huge blow to her.” Kai took a deep breath and continued, “Listen to me. Get her away. You were too reckless this time.”
Once Kai finished speaking, Zach hung up the phone. Zach did not know of Madelyn’s condition yet. Not long after he hung up the phone, Zach received a message from Kai.
[Get her to the hospital to do another check-up. The check-up last time wasn’t thorough enough.]
Zach put out his cigarette and walked out. Madelyn was in the room playing with Dalton. Zach stood outside, watching silently without disturbing them. Every time he saw this scene, he felt an inexplicable feeling of calmness. It was an emotion he had never felt before… It was like the feeling of finally having a family. Even though it was fake, he was willing to do whatever he could to make it all a reality. No one would know about their relationship. It would be great if everything stayed this way.
Zach’s possessiveness over Madelyn had already reached sickening levels.
‘I will never let her go!’ Zach thought. At half past two in the afternoon, Zach held onto Dalton while sitting in the backseat. The chauffeur was the same chauffeur from Southern Haven Villas.
“Everything’s fine. Why are you bringing me to the hospital?” Madelyn asked.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 777
Zach answered Madelyn, “It’s a follow- up appointment. You’ve taken your medication too frequently.”
Madelyn stayed silent. Dalton did not move when he was in Zach’s arms. He was wearing a long sleeved shirt today, holding a blue teddy bear close to his chest. He was also wearing a jacket, with a cap on his head. Madelyn had chosen this outfit for Dalton meticulously. Dalton was not as lively as when he was in Madelyn’s arms. Dalton was silently biting his fingers as saliva drooled from his mouth.
Madelyn turned around to look outside the window. Her cold hands were immediately held by Zach’s warm hand. Madelyn froze momentarily and turned her head away as if nothing happened. The car drove for a while and seemed to be heading toward SereneCare Hospital.
Zach exited the car with Dalton in his arms when they arrived at the hospital. They gave off the impression of a happy family of three. Zach walked in with his tall frame while Madelyn followed behind him.
Madelyn was wearing a beige knitted. skirt with black safety shorts. She had furry pink shoes with them, the same pink shoes she had worn when she went out with Zach. Zach’s jacket was on her, while Zach only wore a dark- colored sweater. His sinister aura was still on him. He had Dalton in his left arm while holding Madelyn’s hand in his right.
Both of them walked into the hospital to be welcomed by a nurse. The nurse led them to a private elevator, bringing them to the twelfth floor where there was already another nurse waiting for them.
Their intertwined hands became clammy with sweat. Zach released her hand and said, “I’ll wait for you.”
The door to the examination room slowly opened. Kai appeared behind the door with a white collar and face mask. When he walked over, Madelyn felt a sense of danger. The smell of disinfectant filled her nose, and Madelyn took a step back subconsciously.
Zach comforted her, “It’ll be over soon. I’ll wait for you here.”
The examination room was filled with equipment. Madelyn had seen this equipment while undergoing chemotherapy in her past life. She was terrified that once she entered the room, she would never come out again. Once she had decided to do chemotherapy in her previous life, she never left her sick bed. The last thing she wanted was to face such a painful death again.
Madelyn backed out at the last minute. She turned around and said worriedly, I’m fine. In fact, I don’t think I need a check-up at all.”
Zach coaxed her gently, “Behave yourself. It’ll all be over soon.”
Kai could not speak. Regret and fear raged inside him. He was afraid to face Madelyn. He had never expected that such a day would come. He had promised to protect his sister, but instead he was going to become her murderer. This was a grievous sin that he would never be able to make up for in this lifetime.
“I’ll go and get ready. Someone will take you to get changed,” Kai said, clenching his fists and trying to hide his emotions.
After speaking, Kai turned around to enter the examination room. Madelyn stared at him as he left.
‘I bet he’s eagerly waiting for me to finally die here! He’s the one doing this entire examination,’ Madelyn thought.
She did not trust Kai, nor anyone else around her. The nurse brought Madelyn a set of clean clothes and said to her, “Don’t worry, Ms. Jent. We’ll be assisting you through this. Everything will be fine, so there’s no need to be scared.”
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 778
Madelyn walked into the changing room. She then did a blood test, neural CT scan, and more. The check-up this time was much more comprehensive. Madelyn lay down on a bed while Kai sat by a machine.
She told him, “I’ve read the whole diary, except for the few pages were torn off. So am I truly not Hayson’s biological daughter?” that “Yes!” Kai answered.
“The revenge plot that you’ve been talking about since the beginning was all because I was Hayson’s daughter, but I never was…”
“I-I’m sorry,” Kai whispered. Madelyn turned to face him, her expression cold as the blood drawn from her left arm was taken to the lab for testing. They were the only people left in the room. Madelyn felt her emotions surge, and her head throbbed. She closed her eyes, not knowing how to process the truth that had just been revealed to her. She could not forgive Kai even though he had done it all for her mother.
Kai struggled immensely before saying, “Stay at the hospital for treatment. I’ll do everything I can to cure you.”
However, her illness was incurable, and that was her inescapable fate. “Could you tell me what kind of relationship you and my mother had? What happened between Fath- I mean Hayson and my mother?” Madelyn asked.
Kai took a deep breath before saying, ” Hayson’s the one who destroyed the Blinken and Wood families. My mother was close to the Wood family. When Erick Blinken was deployed to the border guard, he was murdered, and his body was never even recovered. After he died, Willowbrookshire was in chaos.”
He continued, “Hayson took the opportunity to bribe a group of people and used a portion of the Blinken family’s forces to suppress every prominent family in Willowbrookshire. On the same night, an explosion occurred at the Blinken family residence, and none of the family members survived. He kidnapped Ms. Wood, and my mother along with the rest of the Hawk family were unable to escape their terrible fate in the end. If it wasn’t for Ms. Wood who protected me, he would’ve killed me off too. All this time, I assumed that you were the bastard that Hayson and Ms. Wood made.”
‘Bastard!?’ Madelyn thought. If she had not been born, Alicia would not have been tormented by Hayson, or be forced to survive through the pain, Death had been freedom for Alicia, and she had died at only 30 years old. The cause of death had been suicide, so Kai had blamed Alicia’s death on Madelyn. In his eyes, it was all because of her, this “stain” that should not have survived.
All this while, Kai had always thought that Alicia had died during childbirth, committing suicide due to the humiliation. Only now did Kai understand that Madelyn and Hayson were not blood-related, and in fact Madelyn was actually the child of Alicia Wood and Erick Blinken.
On the day Erick Blinken had been deployed, Alicia had been pregnant for over two months, and the child had miraculously survived in the end.
“After Ms. Wood gave birth to you, it was rumored that she had died during childbirth. Only I knew that it was because of a suicide. After Ms. Wood died, Hayson started tying up loose ends and sent people after me. He was the one who tossed me into the sea. I wouldn’t have survived if it wasn’t for Erick Blinken’s officer,” Kai said.
‘So this is the truth behind everything? The man I called my father for over twenty years was the murderer who killed my entire family! No wonder Mom’s diary never mentioned him. He’s the one who caused all this tragedy. It was him all along!’ Madelyn screamed internally.
Madelyn was so disoriented. Everything had happened because of a misunderstanding, turning her into a victim of this convoluted revenge plot.
“Why would I trust you?” Madelyn asked.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 779
Kai replied, “Forty years ago, Willowbrookshire was where Marisburg stands today. There’s a place there called the Forsaken Garden. All those people who died in vain are buried there.”
“H-He’s there too?” Madelyn asked. Kai knew who Madelyn meant. He answered, “After Erick Blinken died, Ms. Wood made his tombstone all by herself. Regardless of whether you believe me or not, you’ll know the truth once you arrive at Marisburg. I know that no matter what I do now, I can’t undo the damage I’ve caused you. I will give you my life if you want it now. You don’t even have to do it yourself.”
This was Kai’s punishment for himself, to punish himself for foolishly torturing her for so many years.
“For now, it’s best you stay by Zach’s side while I investigate some matters. He won’t hurt you now. Right now, while there are still unknown dangers lurking, only Zach can protect you,” Kai continued.
Despite their family’s relationship, Madelyn would never call him her brother. When they finished her check- up, an hour had already passed. Madelyn walked out of the examination room.
Before she left, Kai pleaded, “I beg of you, stay at the hospital and keep receiving treatment. Please give me a chance to redeem myself, Madelyn. From now on, no matter what you want to do, I’ll help you unconditionally.”
He also added, “Be wary of Cecilia!!”
Zach saw Madelyn walk out in a daze. He immediately gave Dalton to a nurse and walked over to her. He then draped a jacket over her.
“What’s wrong? Why are you so pale? Are you feeling sick?” Zach asked. Madelyn regained her senses when she heard Zach’s voice. Her beautiful eyes stared at Zach. Kai’s words still rang in her ears, “Only Zach can protect you.”
Madelyn replied, “I’m fine.”
“Oh no, oh no…” Someone cried out.
“Dr. Stewart, the patient in ward 1803, has suddenly stopped breathing,” A nurse told Kai hurriedly as he was clearing out his equipment. Kai immediately put down what he was doing to leave the examination room, but first he stopped and stared at Madelyn intensely, as if to say no one else besides her could know of their previous conversation. He then left through the elevator.
After fifteen minutes, Hayson was declared dead while lying on the hospital bed. Madelyn was also in the sick ward, with Zach accompanying her. She stood by the bed staring at the body that had stopped breathing, until a nurse covered it with a white cloth.
Madelyn did not shed a tear. She thought, ‘Hayson’s dead. He’s really dead.’
Up until the moment he died, Hayson had never known that Madelyn was not her biological daughter. He had no one by his side when he died. This was his retribution. Yet, this was nothing compared to all the people who had died in vain by his hand.
Madelyn wondered if Hayson ever predicted that he would end up like this after killing so many innocent souls in the past.
His body was still warm as he was pushed into the crematorium underground. During the forty-minute cremation, Madelyn sat on the chair and just spaced out. Everything that had happened recently was just so sudden and overwhelming.
The Rewritten Love: A Second Beginning by Max Charming Chapter 780
Madelyn thought, ‘Rosario and Hayson are both dead now.’ After the cremation, the person who held the urn covered it with a black cloth. He brought it over and said, “My condolences.”
Zach took over the urn. He said, “I’ll handle the funeral.”
Madelyn expressionlessly responded, ” Up to you. I’m fine with anything.”
She turned around and left after that. In the hall upstairs, Kai had already settled all the expenses. He was carrying a bag containing the medication Madelyn needed for chemotherapy. He said, “The medicines you’ve been using work well, but they have some negative side effects, so it’s time to stop taking them.. The medicines I’m giving you now have been clinically tested and are free of any side effects.”
When Kai saw Zach walk toward them, he leaned slightly toward Madelyn and whispered in her ear, “From now on, I’ll always stand by your side.”
Madelyn trembled and looked at him with a confused expression. Zach walked closer with the child in his arms. Kevin, who had arrived at some point, was carrying Hayson’s urn and following Zach.
When Kai saw Zach move closer, he stepped back to maintain some distance from Madelyn. On their way back to Southern Haven Villas, Kevin sat in another car, following behind Zach and Madelyn. In the car, Zach said, “The medical test results will be out next Wednesday.”
Dalton seemed to notice that Madelyn was not in a good mood. He leaned forward and stretched his hands, wanting to be held by her.
“Okay,” Madelyn responded weakly. She took the child. Dalton put his arms around Madelyn’s neck. With a mouth full of drool, he made cooing sounds around her neck.
For now, Zach was keeping the news of Hayson’s death from the outside world, but sooner or later, the news would get out.
For an hour and a half, Madelyn was busy dealing with Dalton, who was being mischievous. He was very calm whenever Zach held him. but this time, as Madelyn carried him, he became extremely excited, bouncing around and full of energy. Madelyn had a hard time handling him.
In the afternoon during rush hour, they encountered heavy traffic on the highway as they headed back to Southern Haven Villas. By the time they arrived, it was already six in the evening.
Madelyn felt a sense of unfamiliarity as she looked at the well-lit villa. She thought, ‘Turns out… This isn’t my home after all.’
Dalton had already fallen asleep on Madelyn’s shoulder. When they entered the house, Jasmine and Samantha were sitting at the dining table. Both of them were dressed very elegantly, wearing jewelry. There were many shopping bags on the couch nearby.
Jasmine had probably found out about Hayson’s death. Otherwise, she would not have come back. She was feeding Samantha, “You came back so late. She was starving, so I got her something to eat.”
Samantha said, “Mom, I’m full.”
Jasmine affectionately wiped the corner of Samantha’s mouth, “Go outside and play for a while then.”
“Okay, Mom.”
Samantha then hugged a familiar teddy bear and ran outside. Jasmine threw away the tissue in her hand before standing up and walking over to Zach. Turning to Madelyn, she said, “Since you’re back, let’s talk about the division of assets and inheritance. After all, I’ve been married into the Jent family for so many years, so I’m used to this villa. I’ll be straightforward, I want this villa and fifty million dollars in child support.”
Zach coldly glanced at Jasmine and said to Madelyn, “You go upstairs. I’ll handle this.”
Madelyn responded, “I can give you this villa, but I don’t have that much money. I only have a hundred thousand dollars…”
Jasmine chuckled, “There’s no other way, then. Madelyn, Hayson’s the one who’s been supporting me and the child. Now that he’s dead, we’ll have a tough time without any money. Since you don’t have that much money, the only option is to let Zach take care of us. My daughter needs a father.
“You’re already raising one child anyway, so it makes no difference… What do you think, Zach?”
Jasmine had taken good care of herself over the past four years. She was still very charming and attractive. There were no signs of age on her face.
