The sunlight came shining down on my face, and I stirred before fluttering my eyes open. slowly to see I was in an unfamiliar bedchamber, dressed only in my trousers.

I paused right there, trying to remember what had happened, and why I was sleeping in another chamber instead of the one in my tower.

“You should calm down, Uncle Dareth! The King will attend to all issues immediately he wakes up from his slumber!” The sharp snap came from outside, and I instantly recognized my sister Serena’s angry voice.

“Oh please, Princess.” My uncle’s voice followed immediately after, thick with disdain. “He has never been active as a King. Not once! And now, because of him, hundreds of Lycans are dead, and what does he do? Sleep while we all rot here? Our crops and supplies are drained. Even the rain refuses to fall. The Lycan Kingdom is becoming just like him. We are cursed!”

“You should mind your words, Uncle Dareth.” Mearez’s voice cut in now, cool but firm. “No matter what, Lycannar is the King, and

you will respect him.”

“Respect him as a King? Of course. But only if he did his job well. He hasn’t. The people have been loyal to him, and what does he give them in return? Implication and death.”

I swallowed hard where I lay. Forcing myself against the pain and exhaustion, and against all the emotions tearing at me, I pushed out of bed. Barefoot, I made my way through the hall, following the sound of their voices.

“Lycannar never implicated anyone,” Serena was saying when my uncle cut her off.

“Then you must be blind, not to have seen the tower crash down on the people…”

“You dare…”

“Serena.” My voice cut through, and at once the atmosphere shifted.

In the open space used for official eetings, the elders were gathered, my two sisters present as well.

Chantel stood silently to the side, clearly waiting for the right time to act if anyone dared foul play. My Beta, Baron, was there, and so was my uncle Dareth, who seemed determined to give my sisters a hard time.

I stood there, letting them all take in my presence. Their eyes, their awe. Then Uncle Dareth scoffed, lifting his chin.

“Thank the gods he finally woke up. Now, Your Majesty, have you come to attend to the kingdom’s affairs?”

“Keep the sarcasm to yourself, Uncle Dareth,” I told him, walking further in and pulling Serena, still glaring, away from him. “And you will learn how to speak to my sisters.”

His eyes flashed at that, his voice clipped as he spat to my cars alone quietly,

“They are not even a Blood. Why should I respect them?”

“Because they are the Queen’s daughters, and the King’s sisters. Their mother still wears the crown as Queen in this kingdom, if perhaps your memory fails you. I understand old age does that.”

His jaw tightened as he stepped back, murmuring his hatred openly now.

“So how will you attend to the kingdom’s affairs, then? No rains, our crops are dying. There is famine, and the medical supplies used to treat the injured are running out, all thanks to you.”

“My brother didn’t…”

“Serena.” I silenced her again. This time she turned to me, eyes simmering, but then looked away in displeasure.

I sighed, fighting to keep myself steady. I didn’t feel well. Not at all.

I turned toward the table piled high with reports and made to reach for them, but I couldn’t. Something inside me had changed, weakening me beyond reason.

I sat down in the chair, struggling to focus. I reached for the first report, but dizziness overwhelmed me.

My head lowered as I tried to steady myself, and I felt the gentle touch of Mearez’s hand on my arm. I tried harder, but the more effort I gave, the more futile it became.

“I will review the reports myself,” I finally murmured, lifting my gaze toward them all. “I will make the delivery tonight or tomorrow.”

At that, my uncle Dareth wasted no time.

“Maybe you should give the task to someone more capable, while you sit on the throne that will kill them. Wouldn’t that be better?”

I sat in silence for a long moment before slowly lifting my gaze to him. All I saw in his eyes was hatred. It stung to know I was nothing but an obstacle to him.

If I hadn’t been born, his family, be him or one of the sons, would have claimed the throne after my father’s death.

“I am not in the mood to argue today, Uncle Dareth,” I said quietly.

He gave a curt bow,

“As you wish. But know this. One hundred and eight deaths have been reported from the tower’s collapse, and two hundred are injured. The kingdom is starving. All thanks to your reign.”

With that, he straightened and walked out. The elders followed close behind, as though they stood with him.

Baron lingered a moment longer, glancing at me.

“You okay, Apex?”

I looked up at him slowly. For a moment, I felt the weight of truth pressing at my lips. But no. I couldn’t. I had to remain unreadable, mysterious. It was my only safety.

I dropped my gaze without answering, and he understood, bowing and taking his leave.

At last, the space was quiet again, with only my sisters and Chantel remaining. Peace finally touched me, even if only faintly.

My sisters rushed to me at once. They had kept silent until now, restrained by the the others.

“My gods, Lycannar, how do you feel?” Mearez asked, her voice thick with worry.

“Weak. Extremely.”

“You’ve been out for three days,” Serena said, stunning me. “This has never happened before. You were so weak we thought you were dead. Chantel carried you to the bedchamber. It was a struggle.”

“I’m worried about you, Lycannar. What is happening to you?” Mearez pressed.

“It’s… it must be the mirror I gazed into that full moon night,” I murmured weakly, struggling to find my breath. “When I went to stop the wedding. They set formations of mirrors everywhere. I caught a glimpse of myself… someone… I think it was me, but…”

I stopped, seeing the paleness wash over my sisters‘ faces.

“You caught your reflection in a mirror?” Serena asked, as if needing confirmation.

“Briefly.”

“And… and what…” Mearez tried to brush it off, forcing lightness into her tone. “Maybe it had no real effect. Maybe it means nothing. The weakness will wear off soon. Won’t it?”

She was still speaking, both their eyes pinned on me, their worry suffocating. But then I realized something strange. Something so impossibly strange.

I froze where I sat and slowly fixed my gaze on Mearez’s eyes. I expected it, the usual curse, the flash of death that always came. But nothing. Nothing at all.

And at that moment, I knew something was deeply, dangerously wrong.

“Lycan? Lycan, are you okay?”

“I don’t think so. Why did he look so pale? Why did…”

I suddenly rose from where I sat, my sisters stepping backward in awe and caution.

I couldn’t wrap my head around it. I couldn’t even fathom it. The reality that I couldn’t…

I paused, turning sharply to Chantel.

“Come here.” I commanded, and he obeyed at once, standing before me. I locked eyes with him, waiting for something to flash, some spark of vision, but nothing came. Nothing at all and it terrified me.

My knees gave out, but I caught myself, stumbling back into the bedchamber I had risen from.

Clutching the wall for balance, I dragged myself inside until I collapsed on the bed, jaw clenched tight against the pain though it did no good.

“Lycannar!” The door burst open and my sisters rushed in. Thɪs chapter is updated by find✦novel.net

Mearez flew to my side, and I tried to stay strong, to hold on. My effort paid off as I managed to climb properly onto the bed. Serena hurried to arrange the pillows, and I lowered my head onto them, breathing hard.

It… it was painful. I didn’t know why it had to hurt this much.

With my sisters close, I wondered what I would be without them. I wondered what I would do now that I could no longer see their deaths before they came. What if something happened? Something vast, and I could not foresee it?

“Lycannar?” Mearez’s voice cut sharply, trembling. I looked at her and saw her shaking. “Please, you are scaring us. What is happening?”

“He has broken all the rules the witch gave him when he was young,” Serena said darkly. “The Black Tower has been bulldozed, and he hasn’t slept in it for more than two days. And now the mirror…”

“My gods. How are we supposed to contact the witch for a remedy now? Father has destroyed the portal we would have used to reach the Demon Realm and find her.”

Panic thickened in the air and I despised it. I swallowed my pain to speak.

“I will be fine. Perhaps I need some rest. After that, I will be better.”

“Rest?” Mearez muttered. “This is beyond rest, Lycan. Do you even know who you are? What you are?”

“I will be fine. Please, stop crying.” I pulled her down into my arms when I saw the tears falling across her cheeks. “I will be fine. Maybe I just need to rest for a while.”

She pulled back and nodded faintly.

“You haven’t eaten anything in three days,” Serena said quietly, but her words only reminded me of the famine my uncle had mentioned.

“Is it true our supplies are draining?” I asked softly.

“The tower collapsed on the farmhouse and the storage rooms. We don’t know what to do, Lycan. Even the herb house shattered since it was beneath your tower,” Mearez murmured.

“The supplies that remain… will they last until the next full moon?” I asked, but Serena, who managed the markets, shook her head.

“The poor will starve, but the wealthy can sustain themselves until then.”

The truth of it made me look away, reality draining me more than the curse ever could.

“I will take my bath and go to sleep. I believe I will be better when I wake,” I said at last, and my sisters nodded.

Chantel, who had been watching silently from the doorway, did not speak.

“Let me prepare your bathwater,” Serena said, while Mearez lingered, her eyes locked on mine. She knew. It was as if she could feel it that something deeper was wrong, and more was coming.

“I will end my life if anything happens to you, Lycan,” she whispered, sorrow heavy in her voice, making my heart clench. “I will end my life. I swear it.”

“I will be fine, Mearez. We will be fine. I will attend to the reports and see what we can do with the supplies until the next full moon. When the portal opens, Father will grant us what we need to endure until we recover.”

“And the Ashmeres?” The question came from ahead. Serena, just stepping back from the bath chamber. “The werewolves shattered your tower, baby brother. Will you let them go

unpunished? They killed our people. Your people. And as much as it sounds, can you believe the people are more worried about you?”

“Even the wounded are asking how you are without your tower,” Mearez explained gently. “They do not truly know what the tower means, but they know it is your anchor. They are more worried for their king than themselves.”

Hearing that, their words lightened my heart but joy had no chance to settle before the thought of Varyn Ashmere struck.

I swallowed hard and slowly left the bed, walking toward the bath chamber without a word. That is the mistake most people make. Once someone grows calm, they mistake it for surrender.

There are many limits not to be crossed, and I knew I was guilty. I killed his father on the battlefield, but he should not have turned his wrath upon my people, slaughtering them.

I stepped into the bath chamber and closed the door behind me. Wearily, I stripped off my trousers, walking naked to the bath pool. Not as elegant as the one in the tower, but it would suffice.

Slowly I approached, staring into the water. For a moment it rippled, then stilled, reflecting back my face.

A man with a sharp jaw, long hair, and pale golden eyes with rings around his brows. Utterly handsome.

I pulled back, swallowing hard at the sight of him, memorizing that face in case I lost the grace of seeing my reflection again.

I stepped into the water, sighing as the warmth covered my skin. Then reality struck, and thoughts of Zephyrine surged. I wondered how she was, what she thought of me now.

Would she, too, believe my tower deserved to be destroyed?

That single thought clawed through me. The possibility of her losing interest. A tremor tore down my spine, and I began to shift.

I fought for control, but without the tower’s spell of suppression, the change consumed me. A guttural roar ripped from my chest, echoing through the halls, drawing my sisters rushing in.

Their eyes caught mine, blurred, trembling shapes. But to my demon sight, they were prey. I was the predator, the apex, and blood demanded I strike.

My claws lashed for Serena’s throat, grazing flesh, when Chantel burst in. He slammed me

back into the water, the impact stealing my breath.

My back slammed against the pool’s floor, the shock reverberating through my bones.

And there I stayed. No fight. No thrashing. Just silence, the water pressing heavy over me. Stunned. Breath burning. The beast’s haze shattered, and slowly my senses returned.

I arrived at night in Ash Pack, but the gates had been shut. Still, I was not deterred. I was determined to see Varyn Ashmere this night whether he liked it or not.

I would take my own pound of flesh too for what he had done. Turning my own pack into a battlefield, using the wedding as a distraction.

I was a fool. I should have known better. He is a war strategist, and there are many things he can allow… but me marrying his sister was never one of them.

Setting my jaw, I banged hard at the gates until the guard rushed to open. He looked me over first before stepping aside, letting me in.

“I will see Varyn Ashmere,” I said coldly.

The guard bowed his head.

“Wait for him in the meeting hall.”

Grinding my teeth, I made my way there. The same hall where he and I had spoken the other night, when he promised me heaven if I gave him Apex’s secrets.

The silence in the pack grounds was suffocating, heavy with a kind of dread. Even though the true war had not yet begun, Kai was already dead. Not by another, but by Apex’s hand, and in my eyes, both Apex and Varyn killed him.

Kai was sent off yesterday. I had watched with tears, and nothing could break me more. Nothing except the cold realization crawling into me now.

Apex had once told me Kai would die young, that his death was inevitable. He was right. Realizing that truth, that cursed prophecy, made me realize what was at stake. He truly was cursed. He must be removed from this empire before he destroys it.

I was still pacing, simmering in anger, when footsteps finally came. The door opened and he appeared. Varyn Ashmere.

For a moment, he stood framed in the doorway, eyes steady on me. Not surprised, not startled. As though he had already anticipated I would come. The way his calmness cut into me sent a chill down my spine.

“Welcome,” he said softly, walking toward his chair.

“You set me up. You lied to me! You promised me Zeph, but what did you do? You broke your word…”

“Keep your voice down,” he cut me off, firm and sharp. The look in his eyes was venomous. “I did not lie to you. If you recall, word for word, I only promised to send out the invitations if you gave me Apex’s secrets. And I kept that promise. Did I not send out the wedding invitations cards?”

My heart sank. He had twisted it. My shoulders sagged with the realization that I had been played.

“You killed my beta. Because of your war with Apex, Kai is dead!”

you should “Trust me he was a sacrifice for the greater good,” Varyn said smoothly. “And prepare yourself. More will die. We are going to war. All werewolves against the Lycans. Won’t you join us? Perhaps then you can take your revenge properly. I heard it was Apex who drove the spear through your beta’s heart. If Kai hadn’t stepped out of your pack that night, it might have been you lying dead. You should be grateful.”

A chill swept down my spine. Slowly, I sat down, realizing we were already caught in a tide of blood.

He only shrugged, as if civilians‘ lives meant nothing.

“Apex has no army.”

I scowled.

“You think him weak? You’ve seen him fight. You know how he swings his blades. You think your kin can hold him off?”

He gave me a faint smile.

“The first and hardest step has been taken. Gaxib gave us the key to Apex’s weakness. His tower has fallen. He caught his reflection. And now he has shut his gates. That means he cannot defend his kingdom from attack.”

Still, I shook my

head.

“You don’t just walk into his land blind. He is cursed. He is dangerous. We cannot underestimate him.”

For a moment, Varyn studied me in silence. Then he leaned back into his chair and turned toward the entrance.

“Come in, love.”

At that, Dessyn, Zephyrine’s best friend, walked in. She went to Varyn without hesitation. He pulled her into his lap, brushing her hair back with a tender touch, then kissed her before my

eyes.

“So, she’s gone, yes?” he asked softly.

Dessyn nodded, and Varyn turned to me.

“You heard her. Zephyr has gone to the Lycan Kingdom. I sent Dessyn earlier to plant the thought in her head. Now she will walk straight to Apex. Whatever state he’s in, she will bring word back to Dessyn and her whispers will come to my own ears. That is how we’ll know when to strike.”

I went still, shocked at the cunning of the plan. My eyes flicked to Dessyn in disbelief. How easily she betrayed her dearest friend.

Perhaps Varyn’s bed was too sweet for her to resist. And yet, what did that say about Zeph herself? Apex killed her father, and still she ran to him. His cock must be sweeter than honey.

And me? I had not even tasted her, yet I was losing my mind over her.

“You will have her if Apex dies,” Varyn’s voice cut into my thoughts. My eyes shot to him.

“No games this time,” he said with quiet finality. “If Apex dies, Zephyr is yours. I will hand her over myself. What do you say?”

Silence hung between us like smoke, thick and poisonous. But silence was enough. We stared at one another until the truth was sealed.

We had an accord.

I arrived at the massive gate of the Lycan Kingdom that night, beneath the dark sky, and i swear I felt the cold, wicked, unwelcoming wind swirling around me, as though warning I was not permitted here.

It was locked, sealed, and I found myself with no choice but to stand before it, debating whether to leave, turn back, or give a summon.

I was still debating when the feeling struck. The familiar warmth, the kind only Lycannar’s presence could ever give me. It made me swallow hard. He was inside, and even if he no longer needed me, I had to see him.

I stepped closer to the gate and knocked. A knock that felt too small, but I knew anyone beyond would hear because Lycans were blessed with heightened hearing.

No answer came at first. I raised my hand to knock again when a voice sounded from behind the gate.

“And who are you?”

I had to gulp down hard at that question, not because of the words, but the coldness in the tone, the voice itself.

“It’s Zephyrine. I am here to see the King,” I said quietly and waited, my heart heavy with dread. Silence fell, and then the sound of departing footsteps followed.

Seconds rolled into minutes, time dragging before hurried footsteps returned.

“Open the gate for her,” the order came at once, and I froze, my eyes fixed as the sound of the heavy metal gate echoed. Slowly, the entrance to the Lycan Kingdom parted for me.

I stood there for what felt like eternity, my gaze landing on Princess Mearez, who had granted me passage. My throat tightened at the sight of her, my heart clenching painfully.

Then, abandoning all restraint, I rushed forward and hugged her at once. She pulled me into her arms tight, too tight, as though she had been lonely for far too long, clinging to me for comfort.

At last, I pulled back just as the massive gate slammed shut behind me, jolting me back to reality. The harsh reality that drove my gaze upward, to the spot where Lycannar’s black tower once stood.

Now it lay in ruins. Nothing but ruins that made me still. Slowly, I glanced around and noticed windows opening from each household, faces staring at me. Judging or not, I couldn’t tell but thanks to my brother Varyn, I was gaining attention I did not normally want.

Turning back, I caught Princess Mearez’s eyes. The exhaustion there made my chest ache. She searched my gaze with warmth, gratefulness, then pulled my hand into hers.

“Follow me,” she said quietly, leading the way.

I obeyed, walking by her side. The maids we passed paused to stare, the guards‘ gazes lingering far too long.

At last, we arrived at the Princess’s quarters, only for a maid to rush forward to whisper something to her.

“She has fallen asleep now.”

At this, Mearez released me and crossed to the opposite room. She opened the door to reveal Princess Serena lying on the bed, her lips pale, her body weak, though she slept.

The sight made my brow crease sharply. Wait. Had she also been caught in Varyn’s attack?

I stood silent as Mearez sighed heavily and spoke to the maid.

“Summon me immediately when she wakes.”

“Yes, my lady.”

With that, she returned to her chamber, opening the door wider for me.

I had been here before, but tonight I felt unworthy of stepping inside. I lingered at the threshold until she closed the door behind me.

She crossed to the window and stared out before finally turning to me with a weary sigh.

“I can’t believe you are here, Zephyrine.” I swallowed, waiting. “We all believed you would never come back.”

My heart ached at her words, at the sadness beneath them. With our eyes locked, I answered softly, Find the newest release on find·novel·net

“I said I loved the King here. That wasn’t a joke or a bluff.”

Unspoken tension filled the air. Then she asked quietly,

Hearing this, she sat at the table. Her fingers trembled as much as her voice did.

“You know… the night we discovered you were an Ashmere, we were more stunned than anything. Afraid, too.” She lifted her eyes, emotions swimming in them. “Because we knew the truth that Lycannar killed your father. He only found out recently, and it weighs on him more than anything.”

She fiddled with her hands, fighting for calm.

“He was still a toddler when we realized under the full moon he grew vicious. Too vicious, even with the spell–built bricks of the Black Tower containing him. He was given countless warnings, which we obeyed until now.” Her voice broke, tears falling. “The moment he saw his reflection in the mirror… he was never the same again, Zephyrine.”

My heart sank like stone. Slowly, I moved to sit across from her.

“He… he went berserk this morning and… and he hurt Serena.” Goosebumps swept across my skin.

“What?”

“Without his tower, he will become a ravaging killer, that’s what we thought unti the opposite befan to happen. He is weak. I do not want that,” she whispered, reaching across to clasp my fingers. “The world doesn’t know the truth. Even Lycannar doesn’t fully understand what he is, what he can do. He is losing control, and before he loses it completely and die… we must find a solution.”

“Princess Mearez…”

“Since the night the tower fell, I haven’t rested. I’ve tried to stand in his place, to rule, but that is not who I am. I don’t want politics. I don’t want wars or councils. All I want is for everyone to come together in peace. All I want is to focus on healing, not destruction.” She was crying now, pleading. “I beg you, Zephyrine. He loves you. I believe you are the only one who can bring him back to us. Please. Only you can.”

Not in the usual tower but in another bedchamber. It looks luxurious, more graceful than the tower, and I wonder what place this is until I walk further in and begin to see the royal imprint etched into the walls.

No maids, no guards in sight. Just silence upon silence. Yet instead of the quiet bringing peace and serenity, it only brings anxiety and anxiousness.

The first time I ever walked into the Lycan Kingdom and met the royalty, I learned how much Lycannar’s sisters meant to him and now, for him to have attacked Princess Serena in a fit of rage means one thing.

Truly, he has lost his mind completely, and we have to do something about it fast. Or even the strongest shackles won’t be able to hold him down.

I walk toward the bedchamber Princess Mearez had directed me to, arriving at last at a hall where a thin light glides ahead under a door.

Silently, I walk toward it and stop at the threshold, my heart in my mouth. I don’t know what to expect. I don’t know at all.

Slowly, I reach for the door, but then it opens. Chantel appears in the doorway, startling me with his suddenness.

Silence falls between us as we stare into each other’s eyes. Those eyes of his ominous, expressionless. Quietly he opens the door wider and bypasses me, stepping into the hallway, silent and mysterious as ever.

I stare at him for a while before stepping into the bedchamber. The bed is empty, but I can hear the soft sounds of water and movement from the inner chamber, the bathing room.

My eyes linger on the bed for a moment, then drift to the claw marks on the wall. Curiosity draws me closer, and I see the slashes cut deep.

Peering closer, I realize something odd. These aren’t normal claw marks. They look almost…

“When did

you

arrive?”

The question, low and deep, makes me freeze. I try to regain control before slowly, very slowly, turning to face him. Lycannar.

He stands there, a few steps away. He has just taken his bath, his hair still damp, only trousers on, his upper body bare.

I don’t answer right away. Instead, my gaze lingers on his face. That beautiful face. Those eyes. He looks dreamlike and dangerous all at once.

My eyes drop, and I see it, my ring on his finger. He is not done with me. I believe he never will be.

“An hour ago,” I reply quietly, lowering my gaze. “Princess Mearez let me in.”

He says nothing. Instead, he turns toward the window, looking out.

From where I stand, my eyes travel over his back, broad shoulders, skin marked with runes. The same runes now etched into my own skin. And then the reality hits me. Whether he is truly my mate or not.

I feel nothing now. Just normal emotions. No reaction from my wolf.

“You should go back home. I’ll ask Chantel to escort you,” his voice comes, surprising me. He turns to look at me. “It’s late.”

Silence. Deep silence. Did I hear right? Is he… asking me to leave? Lycannar?

“I will stay the night,” I say, holding his gaze, but he does not agree.

“Go home, Zephyrine.”

“Why?” He looks away, reaching for his boots, but I step over to him, my heart beginning to drum. “Why, Lycan?”

“It’s nothing. Just… leave.”

My heart sinks at the dismissal in his voice. Never in a million years did I think he would say this. That he would ever think he could discard me after everything.

He puts on his boots and straightens, reaching for his shirt, but I block his way angrily. He looks away.

“Lycan?” No response. He only sets his jaw, looking aside. Anger brews in me, frustration swelling until I suddenly shove him. To my shock, the impact makes him stumble, and I’m stunned.

He was an unwavering rock of strength that never wavered. What happened now?

“I hate you,” I spit out bitterly. “I hate you so much.”

“I’m trying to protect you, Zephyrine. You’ll thank me later.”

“Lycan..”

“Leave!” he snaps suddenly, eyes flashing.

Tension rises like a storm. The atmosphere deepens, heavy as he stares at me anger, depression, frustration flickering across his face before he turns away, walking to the bed and collapsing onto it, burying his face in his palms.

“I’m losing it, Zephyrine. I don’t know what to do.” He swallows hard. “I feel… so tired, so weak, and I hate it. Without the tower I’m dangerous and dying. And breaking that rule, looking in the mirror… I can feel something big coming and… and I’m scared.”

He looks up now, slowly, and the frustration in his eyes makes my heart want to burst.

“Lycan.”

“I almost killed my sister today. I went for her neck. I can’t forgive myself for that. My people… they’re not safe with me like this. What if an attack came? I won’t be able to defend them. I don’t know what to do, Zephyrine. I don’t know.”

Goosebumps rise on my skin at his words. Gently, I move closer and sit beside him, taking his hand tenderly.

“You can have the tower rebuilt. Can you not?”

He shakes his head.

“It’s not about the tower. It’s about the spell that binds it. Only one witch can do that, and she’s not here.”

I search his eyes, giving his hand a squeeze.

“Where is she? I will find her for you.”

He pauses, looking at me, then shakes his head.

“No one can until the next full moon. Until then, I don’t know how to survive.”

“Maybe I can help you, Lycan. Let me help with anything.” I search his eyes, swallowing hard. “You told me once if any of us is in trouble, it’s our problem. Let’s face it together and find a solution. You can’t just ask me to leave.”
