Ch. 151..155: The Vampire Prince's Blindfolded Bride Chapter 151-155
Chapter 151: Don’t upset me, William
Alora exited the coach as she looked at the tall building in front of her. Its top disappeared somewhere in the clouds. The sky was dark today and it felt anytime rain would pour down.
"Shall we go in, Darling?"
Magnus’s voice caused Alora to lower her head slightly before she replied, "Yes."
As they strolled along the lengthy pavement, Alora couldn’t help but notice the unusual serenity enveloping the surroundings. Suddenly, her gaze was seized by the sight of a man, half-conscious and bloodied, being pulled out of the towering building.
Alora’s feet stopped abruptly as Magnus pulled her to his side.
"Greetings to Prince Magnus and," said Nikitin Windermere, the Chief in the Chamber of Discipline, "Princess Alora." He gestured to the guardians to go ahead since he wished to talk to Magnus more.
"I never expected Prince Magnus to be back in the council," Nikitin replied with a surprising gaze.
"I am good at giving unexpected, Nik," Magnus replied.
"Griffin is here too. You’ve become quite healthy," Nikitin remarked. "Prince Magnus must be taking good care of his servant," he asserted.
"A friend," Magnus corrected him.
"My apologies. I always forget about it because Griffin is not as pure as us," Nikitin didn’t leave any ground to humiliate Griffin.
"But your words make you impure," Alora intercepted. Her gaze locked with hers and she continued, "It’s not tough to forget who is Prince Magnus’s friend or foe. I wonder how you perform your duties when you’ve such a weak memory, Mister."
Nikitin chuckled to hear her response, but he couldn’t say anything to the princess.
Magnus felt proud of how Alora shut Nikitin’s mouth.
"I’m sorry for not introducing myself to the princess. I am Nikitin Windermere," he stated and curtsied to her.
"So, Mr. Windermere, please refrain from commenting anything wrong about Prince Magnus’s friends," Alora affirmed.
"I’ll keep this in mind, Your Highness," Nikitin asserted, "and I’ve quite a sharp memory. Hopefully, somebody, I get a chance to show my skills to Her Highness." His evil smile made Alora frown and she watched him leave.
"Wasn’t he too rude?" Alora complained.
"Nikitin is the fourth generation pure-blooded vampire of the Windermere Family. What do you expect from him? He treats the converted one in a bad way," Magnus stated, "but you were incredible."
Griffin thanked Alora and Magnus for taking a stand for him.
Alora told him not to thank him as it was their duty to protect their friend.
"Since when did you two become friends?" Magnus cocked his eyebrow at them.
"Since the first time you introduced me to Griffin," Alora replied with a smile. "We shall go ahead now," she added and walked ahead of them.
"Princess Alora doesn’t know yet that she cannot argue with everyone here," Griffin whispered.
"Let her enjoy her authority. She had always listened to others and kept quiet. Now, is the time, she should speak her heart out," Magnus stated. He approached her and held her hand.
"We will go to the Chamber of Discipline, which lies on the fifth storey of this building," Magnus informed her. Griffin, too, followed them closely.
Finally, they reached the 5th floor. Alora’s sight was greeted with the presence of numerous vampires. Seeing Magnus and Alora in the corridor, they already had given them the way, keeping their heads low in respect.
Finally, they were in a spacious room, where Magnus used to work in the past. On the shelves, parchments, scrolls, and important files could be seen. Alora glanced at the mahogany desk, where on its one side pens, ink pots, and papers were stacked along with an empty journal.
"Have a seat, Alora." Magnus pulled out a chair for her and made her sit on it. "I’ll be back soon. Stay with Alora," he instructed Griffin and left the room.
"Where did Prince Magnus go to?" Alora queried.
"To meet the Elder of the Chamber of Discipline," Griffin stated. "There are four elders in the Vampire Council and sixteen chief members. Your appointment was possible only after the Elders and members approved it," he explained and set the working table for Magnus.
"So, who is Elder in this department?" Alora inquired.
"William Windermere, the one who was opposing your appointment. He is the closest to the King and has a crucial role in taking judgments for the kingdom after the King," Griffin asserted.
Their conversation paused as they heard a knock on the door. Griffin went to open it and saw a servant with a stack of documents in his hands. Griffin took it from him and shut the door.
Placing the stack on the desk, he opened the jute rope tied around them and started checking the documents.
"Does William not like me?" Alora inquired.
"He doesn’t have any affinity toward any human. Princess Alora isn’t the only exception," Griffin clarified to her.
"I should avoid William then," Alora murmured.
"Yes, you should. Not to mention, William isn’t either good to his own kind. He only treats pure-blooded vampires well, especially from the elite families. Even we converted vampires avoid him at all costs," Griffin explained to her.
"Where do you use to work before you started working for Prince Magnus?" Alora was curious to know.
"I was an employee in this department only," Griffin replied. He separated the documents in the order of highest priority to the least one.
"Hmm. I wonder if they will perceive me well... I mean the Elite Vampires," Alora murmured.
"It will take time. But I’m sure you’ll win their hearts too," Griffin stated with an encouraging smile to her.
~~~~~
Magnus sat before William with his one leg above the other. "I expected a warm welcome from you. Seems like you are not happy with my return," Magnus taunted. He refused the wine and waited for William’s response.
"There will be a small celebration for Prince Magnus’s return to the Council in the evening. Sadly, I cannot welcome his wife because I still believe a human’s presence will only be a bother," William truthfully stated.
"Don’t upset me, William. I would like you to give me a chance to Alora," Magnus began convincing him. "She needs a welcome from all of us," he asserted.
"Prince Magnus loves a human, that’s why he doesn’t understand. He cannot expect the same treatment for Princess Alora from us. I hope he understands," William asserted.
"Shouldn’t you show the respect to the royalty then?" Magnus raised his eyebrow at him. "I won’t ask anything else from you. Just don’t make Alora feel low. I will take it on my heart, William," he added.
"Rest assured, Prince Magnus, I will never hurt Princess Alora with my words as long as she stays far from me. Maybe my views change after she becomes a vampire," stated William. He tilted his head, looking at his slave, asking for the blood.
"Great, then." Magnus left his seat and turned to leave when William stopped him.
"Prince Magnus, out of all the vampires around me, I thought you would never fall into the trap of love. I am surprised you are so blinded by love that you refuse to see what can harm our kind," William remarked.
Magnus chuckled as he took his words lightly. Pivoting on the heels of his boots, he turned to face William. "Alora is not a threat to our kind, but our own kind is. Don’t forget the attack on me during my return to Velaris," he stated and left his sight.
William grabbed the cup tightly as he chucked its contents down his throat.
Magnus as headed to his office room greeted by the sight of William’s elder son, Quentin Windermere.
"Greetings to Your Highness. It’s good to see him after such a long time. I’ve been looking for him only," Quentin stated. "Did His Highness just meet my father?" he asked.
"Yes, I was with your father," Magnus replied.
"Your Highness, the King called me to the palace in the early morning. I’ll be investigating about the attack on you and the others," Quentin asserted. "I wanted to ask you if you’ve any suspicion on anyone. It can help me with the investigation," he opined.
"Those vampires were not from this place. I believe they were from the neighboring kingdom. So, you need to search at the borders, which we share with two kingdoms," Magnus elaborated to him.
"That’s strange, Your Highness. Our relationship with the neighboring kingdoms has been well. However, I will try my best to find out the truth behind the attack," Quentin affirmed.
Magnus went ahead while Quentin resumed his work of the day.
As Magnus entered the office room, he ended up seeing Scarlet there, conversing with Alora.
"It seems Miss Scarlet isn’t given enough work. That’s why she is roaming here so freely," Magnus coldly remarked.
"Forgive me, Your Highness. I thought to greet the Princess and you," Scarlet asserted.
"Not needed, Miss Scarlet. You shall leave," Magnus pronounced, gesturing to her to leave the room.
Chapter 152: The enforcers
"You didn’t have to be rude to Miss Scarlet. She was here for a normal greeting," Alora said.
"Shall we begin the work?" Magnus asked as he slumped into his chair, ignoring what Alora said. She wasn’t surprised by his way of not talking about Scarlet. But why did he do that? There must be a reason behind it.
Magnus read the first documented file and lifted himself from his seat. He went to Alora and leaned down beside her. "This is the case, where a human and vampire conflict is present. It is alleged that the human used a shaft to kill the vampire’s newborn. However, the human refuses the claims, and no evidence is found, making it difficult to give justice," he explained to her.
"Shouldn’t this case come under the Chamber of Diplomacy?" Alora queried with a curious gaze.
"Well, right. We need to work alongside them. However, this majorly involves our expertise. This department makes laws for both, including the punishments." Magnus explained to her slowly while Griffin took his seat next to Alora.
"It needs negotiations. The town where it occurred consists of both the colonies and the humans who think that the vampires lying about them. They claim to be weaker than any vampire. Since I can read minds, this case will be solved in just seconds," Magnus asserted.
"So, whoever is the culprit, what punishment will he be given?" Alora asked.
"Depends on the enforcers," Magnus replied. "It can be public execution," he added.
"Isn’t that..." Alora’s voice purred as she felt it was a ruthless punishment, "Harsh?"
"Then, how the crime be reduced?" Magnus queried.
"Hmm. There must be some other ways," Alora remarked.
"There’s no other way," Magnus replied.
"So, now, you will only find out who is telling the truth since the shaft wasn’t found. Then, an Enforcer will decide the punishment," Alora deduced.
"And I am one of those enforcers, including you. So, you can also decide the punishment. Though you need to keep your hearty feelings aside," Magnus explained to her.
"I won’t decide any punishment. I’m here to learn and find out why this bitterness between the two species exists," Alora asserted.
"Hmm... Werewolves and vampires too. I would say among us the enmity is more than general friendship," Magnus remarked.
"Isn’t that because the werewolves can truly harm the vampires?" Alora quipped.
"Yes, for that reason. Let’s solve this first case. Griffin, gather everyone in the Hall Of Justice," Magnus instructed as he rose to his feet.
~~~~~
"Mother, I don’t think I should go out with you. You can go to the market yourself," Venus opined.
"What will you do alone in the house? Let’s go together. You will feel better," stated Rhea. She put down the brush on the dressing table and clipped her hair using the silver hairpin.
Venus left the chair and looked at her mother. "I shall better stay at home. I will cook the lunch for you," she stated.
"Maids are there to do that work," Rhea still insisted on taking Venus out with her. Last night after dinnertime, Elliot told her how Venus talked about not living. The reason why she didn’t wish to leave Venus alone in the home.
Seeing her mother’s insistence, Venus said further, "What if someone speaks wrong to you because of me?"
"No one will say anything to me or you," Rhea stroked her cheek. "Your birthday is approaching. You should buy a new dress for yourself," she asserted.
"I have many in my wardrobe, Mother," Venus stated. She sensed her mother was concerned for her, so Venus felt she should agree with her. "I should wear the hat then," she added.
"No need. You look pretty this way." Rhea didn’t wish her daughter to hide her face. She believed Venus needed to fight her own insecurities first to live like before.
Venus hummed and the mother-daughter duo left for the market.
~~~~~
"Brother Alaric, you here? I thought you worked from the palace," Alora said.
"I thought to come today. Did Magnus not tell you about the evening welcoming party for you?" Alaric inquired.
"No, he didn’t. What is it about?" Alora was kind of surprised to learn this.
"You are the new member of the council, so we will welcome you," Alaric replied with a tiny smile on his lips. "I think Magnus forgot to make you aware of this. But where is he?" He looked around the room.
"Prince Magnus is with the four enforcers. He will be here shortly," Alora answered. "Why doesn’t Brother Alaric sit?" she questioned.
"So, how does it feel to be here? Oh, shouldn’t you be with Magnus to know how the enforcers work?" Alaric inquired as he pulled out a chair to sit on it.
"Umm... Magnus asked me to read these documents," Alora murmured and pouted her lips. "Earlier, we went to the Hall of Justice. The case of a vampire-human conflict, where it was allegedly said that the human killed the vampire using a shaft, Prince Magnus solved it in seconds," she remarked, praising her husband’s skills.
"Well, Magnus does have the unique ability to read minds, so it makes it easier to solve the tough cases. The reason why the Vampire Council wanted him to join back for such a long time," Alaric asserted.
"Prince Magnus told me he was bored here," Alora stated.
"And other reason might be the trouble he got to read the minds. Our thoughts hold our real personalities. Magnus ends up seeing a lot, even the sad parts of one’s life. So, he decided to leave everything behind and shift to Elmswood," Alaric explained to her.
Alora was not surprised to learn that. Though Magnus never admitted this in front of her, but she believed he was tired of reading the thoughts of everyone around him, especially in the Vampire Council.
"I found out Scarlet has become close to you. She was telling the others that you two are friends now," Alaric suddenly said.
"Are we?" Alora was confused.
"Yes, Scarlet bragged about it earlier. I ended up hearing her conversation with the others. Are you aware of the fact that Scarlet was head over heels for Magnus?" Alaric questioned her.
"Oh, yes, I am," Alora replied. "But she is no more interested in Magnus," she added.
"I hope so," Alaric stated. "But it will be better for you to stay away from Scarlet. I’m not fearing you. Just asking you to be careful," he explained.
"I understand, Brother Alaric," Alora said and thanked him for making her aware of this. She knitted her brows together, wondering what was in Scarlet’s mind.
"Also, I saw your sister and mother in the market. Your sister doesn’t look well, Alora," Alaric informed her.
"What?" She got worried about learning that. "I think that’s because she was in prison," Alora remarked.
"The reason is many people know what Venus did to you. Because I had some work in the Human Administrative Center, I ended up hearing the gossip there too," he briefed.
"I think I let this matter go out. What should I do now?" Alora asked for his advice.
"You only disciplined your sister. Venus needs to fight on her own," Alaric muttered. Before he could speak further, the door opened and Magnus entered the room along with Griffin.
"Brother Alaric!" Magnus was surprised to see him.
"I came to attend the evening welcoming party for Alora," Alaric replied as he tilted his head to gaze at Magnus.
"Brother Alaric didn’t need to tell her. It was a kind of surprise for Alora," Magnus remarked.
"My apologies. I thought she would be aware of this," Alaric answered and he watched Magnus sitting on the chair. "You didn’t include Alora in the meeting of the enforcers. Why?" he asked.
"I thought Alora should not witness the punishment to the human. She might feel sick," Magnus replied, glancing at his wife.
"Will the human be executed?" Alora widened her eyes.
"Yes, that’s what the enforcers have decided," Magnus replied. "The crime was heinous."
"What about his family? They were not the part of this crime, or were they?"
"They were not. But they have to suffer for it. His family may have to leave Velaris and go to the other town to start their new life because here, no one will let them live," Magnus explained to her.
"Hmm. That’s understandable," Alora murmured.
"I forget to tell you but Rubin has come to the palace, Magnus. Did you promise him that you’ll make him join the council?" Alaric brought an important matter to the light.
Magnus’s forehead creased as he sensed the desperation of Rubin to join the council. It bothered him even more now. "Did he leave?" he inquired.
"No. I heard from Tobias that he would wait for your return. You should not have promised Rubin such a thing. It’s not easy to enter the council," Alaric stated.
Magnus fiddled with his fingers as he pondered why Rubin wanted to be in the council.
Chapter 153: The Drunk Alora
As Alora continued giggling, Magnus couldn’t help but admire her in her drunkard state. She ended up drinking more wine at the welcoming party for her and was totally wasted. Her cheeks were flushed fully red and its spread reached till her ears.
"The trees are moving," Alora said, her face and her hands stuck to the window of the carriage as she kept her gaze outside. "Is this earthquake? Why is everything shaking?" she murmured and promptly retreated from the window to look at Magnus.
"Why are we sitting? We shall run," Alora stated and she stood up from her seat. In the moving carriage, she ended up falling. However, Magnus’s swift reaction saved her from landing on the coach. He held her tightly in his embrace, his strong arms wrapped around her, keeping her securely on his lap.
"There’s no earthquake," Magnus whispered, he brushed her hair to the back of her hair, "you are drunk."
"No. How can I be drunk?" Alora refused his claim. "I never get drunk, Your Highness. I’m a good girl," she asserted.
Magnus chuckled to hear her statement. Why did she look sweeter in this drunk state? Her finger poked his cheek and she began pulling them.
"Alora... Ahhh!" Magnus screamed as she pulled his cheeks harder and he had to apply his strength to remove her hands from her cheeks. He could feel the heat rising to his cheeks after that sudden pull.
The chauffeur in the driving seat thought something intimate was going on between the couples and he ended up smiling.
Magnus had a hard time keeping Alora quiet in this state and finally, they arrived at the palace. Alora stepped at the footplate, but Magnus carried her in his arms to make sure she would not trip and injure herself.
Magnus brought Alora to the bedchamber and settled her on the soft mattress. She half-opened her eyes, feeling the discomfort in the gown. She moved her hands to her corset but was unable to untie the tight knots on it.
"I’ll help," Magnus said and let her hand rest on either side of her head. He loosened her gown after removing the corset’s silk threads. He got on his knees and then, removed the sandals she had worn.
Selvina walked in and told Magnus she would help the Princess change into comfortable clothing. Her gaze remained low in front of the prince.
"Do it," Magnus said and walked out of the chamber. He removed the broach from the scarf and put it on the dressing table while Tobias stood at least two meters away from him.
"Did you find something related to the Night Saviors Group?" Magnus asked as he unbuttoned his waistcoat.
"I’ve sent someone to the place, where Rubin claimed it is present," informed Tobias.
Magnus turned around as he was now in his silk shirt and trousers. "Is Rubin still awaiting me?" he inquired.
"I sent him home since it was already late, Your Highness," Tobias replied. "Rubin didn’t look happy. Seeing his expressions, it seemed he was feeling betrayed," he asserted.
"I’ll see him tomorrow," Magnus said.
"I’ll send a message to Rubin to come in the evening then," Tobias stated.
"No, I’ll go to his place," Magnus proclaimed.
Tobias wondered if something was going on in Magnus’s head, but he refrained from asking the prince. "The bathhouse is ready for the Prince," he then stated.
"Hmm."
Tobias walked away while Magnus headed to the bathhouse.
After having a bath, he returned to the bedchamber and found Alora peacefully sleeping inside the sheets. Her cheeks were still red. Again a smile carved on his lips to see her and he couldn’t resist planting a kiss on her forehead.
As he slipped inside the sheets after blowing off all the candles, except for her, he heard Alora say,
"I can see everything. My mother..." Her words trailed off after a slight murmur.
Magnus stroked her hair, his fingers stroking her hair. Even in her sleep, Alora would think about seeing with naked eyes.
Alora turned to his side, her face lay now before her, just an inch away. Her lips were slightly parted, showing her front teeth as air escaped that gap, fanning Magnus’s lips and nose.
Alora was tired and like a baby, she looked in her sleep.
"How could she be this peaceful? Why does it feel so joyous just to watch her sleep?" Magnus murmured, his heart thumping slowly.
If Alora weren’t drunk, Magnus would have kissed her until his thirst would quench.
His train of thought was derailed as Alora’s hand gently settled on his chest in her slumber. Magnus instinctively moved to shift her hand when her eyes fluttered open, meeting his gaze.
"Magnus," Alora murmured softly.
"Hmm?"
Alora leaned in, brushing her lips against his, then pulled back slightly. "Your lips..." She hesitated for a moment, her fingers delicately tracing his lips, causing a flutter in his throat. "They taste sweet."
"Go to sleep, you are drunk," Magnus said.
"No. I never get drunk," Alora replied. She advanced to him further and nibbled his lips this time. The resistance broke as he kissed her back, his hand resting on the side of her head, her hair entangling with his fingers.
Magnus broke the kiss, and they both gasped for air. He found her eyes shining and it astonished him. On rare occasions, Magnus witnessed such eyes of hers.
"You should sleep. You are tired," he whispered.
"Uh-huh," Alora shook her head and traced her fingers on his eyebrows. Suddenly tears emerged in her eyes, "I thought I would be left alone in this world. I thought I was not beautiful enough to grab any man’s attention."
"You’ve no idea what your beauty does to me, especially your eyes. Don’t cry now. It’s not an occasion to cry," Magnus said as he smiled a little.
"But I want to cry," Alora said. The tears were on the verge of escaping her eyes.
"No. Hold your tears and close your eyes. It’s late and you need a good rest," Magnus said.
Alora complied with him and closed her eyes. Her eyelashes turned wet and she again drifted off to sleep.
Magnus couldn’t help but smile before wiping her eyes.
Chapter 154: Ralph’s threat to Venus
Venus was seated in the garden of her house, alone, in the middle of the night. She was unable to sleep and thought about staying under the night sky for a while. During the day when she went with her mother to the market, she heard two women talking about her.
"What a shameless child! How can she come with her face straight to the market?"
These sentences were repeated in her head continuously, becoming the reason for her distress.
As Venus stood up from her place, she felt the presence of someone around her. Turning her eyes around, Venus found none. She was a bit scared and ran toward the house in fear. Her feet stopped to see a figure resting against one of the porch’s pillars.
Venus slowly lifted her head, she forgot to breathe and she stopped blinking. In front of standing an alpha, whom she knew after Eugene introduced her to him.
"What are you doing here, Ralph?" Venus asked. She felt her throat getting drier.
"You are pardoned, Venus. I have not expected this," Ralph said as he approached her with gradual steps. She gulped, fearing what he would do. Eugene had told her that Ralph was quite powerful among the ten alphas.
"Yo-you cannot enter my home at such an hour," Venus said while stuttering. She clutched her gown tightly, fearing that Ralph could harm her.
"Then, let’s have a meeting tomorrow. I would like to see your sister," Ralph stated, halting at his place.
"My sister? Why?" Venus furrowed her brows together.
"Just deliver her my message, Venus," Ralph affirmed.
"Why don’t you go to the palace for this task? I-I cannot bring my sister to a random meeting with a werewolf," Venus asserted. Though she was trembling from the inside, she made sure to threaten Ralph with Magnus’s name. "Prince Magnus if found out that you desired to see my sister, he would punish you."
Ralph smiled to hear her. In the blink of an eye, she found Ralph in front of her. He lifted Venus’s chin with force and said, "Do you think that the werewolves have forgiven you and your family? What you did to our kind is punishable. Your task is to bring Alora to the same table as me. If you fail, you’ll lose someone dear to you," he whispered in her ear. "Make sure Prince Magnus stays out of this," he let go of her chin and she immediately took several steps back.
Venus’s eyes brimmed with tears. She could not betray Alora in any state this time. "I refuse to do so. Why should I hear a werewolf?" she glared at him as she clenched her fists.
"I think you’ve impaired your hearing, Venus," Ralph stated. "You will lose a person close to you if you fail," he repeated his previous words.
Venus chuckled, which bewildered Ralph. No one ever reacted in front of him like this.
"Your fear that Prince Magnus will give you the same fate as Eugene got. That’s why you came at this hour to threaten me. You know well that if anyone in this family gets even a single bruise, Alora will make sure to punish you. If you wish to see my sister, Princess Alora, then go to the palace," Venus pronounced. She walked past him, still carrying the fear, but not letting it be shown on her face.
"Venus, if your brother or father or mother dies, then don’t blame me for it. You think I’ll keep you alive after what kind of trouble you brought to us werewolves? So, make sure to do what I’ve asked you to. Tomorrow afternoon I’ll be here to see your sister," Ralph stated sternly.
As Venus turned around, she found Ralph wasn’t present there. He had disappeared in thin air. Tears streamed down her cheeks and her heart raced in a strange fear.
"I cannot do that," Venus murmured.
She was unable to understand whom she should share about this.
"I will inform Prince Magnus about it," Odin’s voice fell into her ears. Venus was shocked to see Odin appearing from the shadows.
"At this hour?" Venus asked.
Odin turned on his heels to face her. "I cannot believe you are such a troublemaker, Miss Venus," he remarked.
"But I-I didn’t d-do anything this time," Venus said as more tears escaped her eyes.
"It’s hard to believe if your tears are real or fake," Odin murmured. "Go inside and don’t come out," he stated. As he turned to go to the palace, Venus held his sleeve, making him tilt his head over his shoulder.
Venus quickly let go of his sleeve. "Ralph said he would k-kill..." She was unable to speak because she was terrified.
"Ralph won’t harm any of you. Go inside and sleep peacefully," Odin stated.
When Venus didn’t budge from her place, Odin grabbed her arm and dragged her to the door. He pushed her inside the mansion and closed the door from outside.
"Such a bothersome human!" Odin rolled his eyes and left for the palace.
Venus slowly went to her room and closed the door from inside. She went to the bed and lay down. However, she couldn’t get sleep. Ralph’s threat had scared her. But what she couldn’t understand was why Odin was present in their house.
Odin arrived at the palace and went straight to the room, where Tobias would usually be found. Fortunately, Tobias hadn’t gone to bed as he was busy ending his tasks.
"May I come in, Tobias?" Odin asked from the door.
"Of course!" Tobias lifted his head from the document in his hand. "What is it?" he inquired.
"A werewolf wishes to see Princess Alora," Odin informed him.
"What?" Tobias exclaimed in confusion.
Odin then explained to him in brief. "The werewolves aren’t happy with Venus. Ralph didn’t tell her the purpose, but he mentioned to Venus not to let Prince Magnus find out about it. If Princess Alora doesn’t go there tomorrow, Ralph may harm any of their family members."
Chapter 155: Their cute banter
Alora woke up with a headache. She recalled how the last evening, she had the wine more than her capacity. She could only recall bits of the memory from the last night. Alora kept her eyes closed when a familiar hand patted her head, causing her to open her eyes.
"Here. Drink this," Magnus forwarded the cup to her.
"What’s this?" Alora held the cup with her both hands.
"It’s a herbal tonic," Magnus answered and caressed her hair. "You’ll feel better," he added.
Alora sipped the tonic slowly and finished it soon. As Magnus took the cup from her, heh heard her speak, "Who changed my clothes? Did I trouble His Highness?"
"Selvina
Alora ended up smiling. "Don’t lie. I must have been a bother to you last night," she stated while feeling embarrassed. Resting her head on the headboard, she waited for his response.
"Why would I lie? You truly were mesmerizing last night. Cuteness overloaded you in your drunk state," Magnus replied.
Alora pursed her lips together. "I should freshen up. We need to go outside then," she mumbled and moved her feet to the floor. After putting her slippers on, she walked toward the door.
"I will see His Highness later," Alora said before exiting the door.
As Magnus stepped out, Tobias greeted him. "I’ve something important to inform His Highness," he said.
"Hmm. Speak," Magnus asserted.
"Your Highness, Odin came last night. Since it was past midnight, I didn’t disturb you. Odin told me that Venus got a threat from a werewolf."
Magnus furrowed his brows together. "A threat? From whom?" He raised his eyebrows in concern.
"The werewolf’s name is Ralph, an alpha. He told Miss Venus to bring Princess Alora to see him today, keeping in mind not to tell you about this. If Miss Venus fails, any of their family members lose their lives," Odin explained.
"Summon this werewolf to the Council. Also, send a message to the Elders of the werewolves. Do it quickly. Send a message at Alora’s home that Venus needs to be present in the Council," Magnus instructed him. He couldn’t believe a werewolf dared to do this knowing the fact who was Alora’s husband.
Tobias bowed and left his sight.
The maidservant came with a tray in her hand. It had a cup with fresh blood in it. Magnus held the cup and went ahead to sit on the couch, drinking the blood as his food.
~~~~~
Alora delicately fastened the pearl necklace around her neck, a gift from Magnus just days before. With a smile, she admired how it adorned her before sliding a ring onto the middle finger of her left hand.
Meanwhile, Selvina completed Alora’s look, deftly arranging her hair into a graceful bun and accenting it with floral pins. Loose curls framed her face, cascading gently from her temples, adding the final touch to her ensemble.
Putting on her heels, Alora headed out. She saw Magnus on the drawing room’s couch. He lifted his head to see Alora in front of him and rose to his feet.
Selvina quietly left the room, giving the two a private space.
"Why do you look so pretty today?" Magnus mused, his admiration evident in his gaze.
"What? Haha!" Alora chuckled wholeheartedly. "Don’t I look pretty always?" she teased.
"You do, but now, you look so stunning," Magnus whispered, his fingers tenderly caressing her loose curls as he leaned in to kiss her. With a gentle lift of his index finger, he tilted Alora’s chin upwards, capturing her lips in a tender kiss that quickly ignited into a passionate one, revealing his desire for her.
As he broke the kiss, he saw how gradually Alora opened her eyes. His heart pounded and he thought to ditch the work today just to ravish her. He buried his face in the crook of her neck, sucking her skin, causing her to moan.
"So-someone will c-come," Alora’s raspy voice reached his ears, causing him to ease the intensity of his kisses. He brought his face before her and they both peered into each other’s eyes.
"Today we will have breakfast with the family," Magnus said, his thumb tracing her lips. He rested his thumb on her cheek as he stroked it.
"Wow! Then, we should hurry," Alora said.
Magnus thought to let her have breakfast peacefully, then he would tell her about the matter. He already had sent his men to Alora’s house to ensure their safety.
As they reached the dining hall, Alora greeted the princes and the princess. Since the King and the Queen were yet to arrive, they took their seats.
"Alora, you look beautiful," Alaric complimented her.
"I agree. She looks different today," he stated.
"Thank you, Brother."
Magnus moved her chair a little ahead after she sat on it.
"What about me? Shouldn’t my brothers praise me?" Lillian complained as she picked up the napkin to rest it on her lap.
The three princes glanced at her. "You don’t believe us even if we say you look pretty," Magnus remarked, taking his seat finally.
"I never said that," Lillian muttered.
"Lily, you look pretty," Magnus said. Alaric and Izaak said the same words to their sister.
"Why doesn’t it sound like coming from the hearts of my brothers?" Lillian skeptically gazed at them.
"See. You don’t trust us. So, why should we compliment you, Lily?" Magnus arched his eyebrow with a tiny smile gracing his lips.
"Stop teasing, Lily," Izaak said.
"Alora, I seriously wonder how Brother Magnus is sweet to you. He is as cold as ice. He always fights with me," Lillian told her.
"Don’t listen to her. She is the one, who is ready to fight with me every time," Magnus stated.
Alora ended up smiling to see their cute banter. In a sibling relationship such arguments show how deep their relationship was. She wished for the same relationship to develop with her siblings.
