Ch. 316..320: The Werewolf's Vampire Mate Chapter 316-320
Chapter 316: The remedy
Gyles.
I don’t trust Major.
I don’t like the way he looks at Blue. There is something suspicious about him and it is not because I am jealous. Yeah, he looks at my mate like he is the only one in the room and that irks me but there is also the fact that he is so helpful. Blue doesn’t seem to believe him. There is doubt in his eyes. He doesn’t trust him, so I won’t trust him either.
He says he is going to help us but what if he is the one that caused everything. Why is it so easy for him to help? How does he have all the solutions to everything?
I watch him as he walks over to the bed. There is a serious expression on his face as Blue puts a chair beside the bed. I don’t like that they are doing this when Rex is asleep but he seems to think that it will ease up on the pain that this process is going to cause. I don’t want Rex to be in pain but I also want him to know what is going on.
Blue walks over to me and I whisper into his ear "We should have woken him up.’’ I don’t like doing this behind his back. Blue is not even in his right frame of mind. He is worried and he just wants everything to be resolved. I have to be his eyes right now. I have to focus on the things he wouldn’t.
"We are here. Nothing will happen to him,’’ he assures me. a lot has happened to Rex. I don’t want to add anything else by trusting the wrong person. I know we don’t have a choice. There is no other option but to use the book. Blue is so insistent on not using it, I think that will be the only option after all this trial and error.
I just want the quick solution; I want this all to be over but I have to be submissive for once in my life. I have to trust Blue because he is strong, he is smart and I believe that he can conquer all his demons.
Major, sits on the chair and I watch him as he reaches for rex, he wanted to do this while he was asleep but the second his hands are on him, my mate jumps off the bed until he is far away from him on the other side of the bed. he trembles as he tries to figure out what is happening.
His eyes meet Blue immediately and he furrows his brows in confusion "what is going on?’’ he manages. I still can’t hear anyone but Rex. he might be in someone’s body but I see him. I feel him, his scent is still very strong.
Levine tried to deceive us. Make us hurt him thinking he was her but the bond we have between each other is stronger than her deceit.
Blue walks over to him "Major is here to help,’’ he grabs his hands gently as he explains the situation to him.
"Why didn’t you wake me up?’’ he asks confused by the secrecy. I didn’t want us to do this while he was asleep but there is no need to point fingers.
"We thought it would be better if you were asleep.’’ I interrupt with a faint smile. He has nothing to worry about. As long as I am here, I will always protect him—I will make sure nothing happens to him.
Rex nods after my interruption and then faces Major "Thank you for doing this,’’ he smiles at the warlock.
I roll my eyes because I still don’t like him. I doubt I will ever like him. He must have a motive for doing this. there is no way, he is just being nice. No one is ever just nice or helpful.
"Blue is important to me. will do anything for him,’’ he turns to Blue and then winks at him with a smile. The jealousy in me spikes up.
"Can we get this shit over with?’’ I ask wanting him to be out of this room and this house. i turn to Blue and he coughs nervously.
"G is right. Come on Major, he is awake. Let’s just get this over with.’’ He walks back to me and Rex shifts back closer to Major. Major brings out a tiny bottle from his pocket and I watch him as he stretches it out to him.
"What is that for?’’ I ask suspiciously.
He turns to me and smiles "To help him with the pain. Just trust me for a couple of minutes...can you?’’ his smile widens.
I will never trust him.
"So, it is up to you. you don’t have to drink it if you don’t want to but you will basically shed out of this skin. it is going to hurt like a motherfucker,’’ he explains to Rex, who looks terrified right now.
"Just think about turning. That should ease the pain,’’ Blue suggests. I mean, shedding sounds terrified but if he can come back to us, then I think it should be worth it.
"Turning isn’t the same as shedding,’’ Rex retorts and collects the bottle from Major "I will stick to the pain relief,’’ he downs the whole bottle immediately, not even thinking about anything but easing his pain.
I smile because that is the Rex I know. He is rational and very protective but he is a baby when he is scared. I grab Blue’s hand in mine because this is going to be hard to watch. The last time this happened. I felt his pain and it didn’t even work. Now, he is going to be awake and I am going to watch him suffer through it.
The minute Major starts my heart thuds against my chest. He has his hand on his temple, the same way he did. Once he starts his chants, the beating of my heart goes faster. I watch the scene and as his eyes become white, I the tear on his skin.
I close my eyes because this is a lot.
Blue squeezes my hand and I turn to him. this is affecting him as much as it is me. I don’t know how much more of this I can take.
Chapter 317: Rex is back
Gyles
I don’t know how much more of this I can watch. The pain, the blood. I didn’t think it would be this graphic and now, I can’t stand it anymore.
"He is hurting him,’’ I grab Blue’s arm in an attempt to get him to stop this brutal attack.
"Let him finish,’’ he tells me, slowly turning to me. I dart my eyes back to Rex and Major is still on him. He is still chanting words that I can’t understand and I want to stop this. I have half a mind to pull him off him but I know that I can’t. I need to let them do this. I can’t be the one to stop the only help we have gotten from anyone in this place.
"I can’t watch this,’’ I cry as I push Blue’s hand off me and walk out of the room. I don’t expect him to follow me. I mean, he needs to be with Rex because I still don’t trust Major, but the second I leave the room, I hear his footsteps behind me.
"Wait," he stops me but I am trying to get away from the scene. To paint a better picture of what is happening in that room. Just imagine a wolf turning, just imagine the process but this time picture someone coming out of their own skin. Like graphically. Whatever Major is chanting, is making Rex’s skin tear open. I don’t know what is happening but he could die from it and we were both just watching it. I couldn’t do anything to ease his pain.
This is all my fault and he is the one suffering.
"I can’t watch that and not do anything. You should go back to him.’’ I turn around to face him. He shakes his head.
"There is nothing we can do to make him feel better. Major is the only one that can help him now, we just have to be there for him.’’
"I don’t want to be there. It is too brutal.’’
He nods "I know,’ he takes a step towards me and I watch him until he is an inch away from me. His eyes bore into mine, they are still red. He hasn’t really had enough rest since we came to the coven. He looks worn out and I can’t even help him too.
"I have a week until Levine is to be executed. If he is still in that body, they will kill him. I can’t let that happen and this is the only solution. I might not trust Major but I know that he is doing this, let’s just use him for now. Make this happen. I need your support...can I get that?’’
A tear drops out of his eyes and instinctually, I reach for his face. He is trying so hard to be strong. I know that the sight in his room must be affecting him as much as it is affecting me but here I am with the theatrics. I shouldn’t have stormed out of the room. I can see that he needs me there with him. "I am sorry for overreacting,’’ I tell him as I wipe the tear from his face.
He manages a faint smile and I don’t take my hand off his face. His eyes close for just a second as he grabs my hand that is on his face "We should go back in there,’’ I suggest.
His smile widens.
We walk back into the room and Major is still on him. I look at Rex and he seems to be getting back to his skin—back to himself. There is blood all over the bed, the clothes he had are torn off his body. He is naked and incomplete. I can’t even think about anything but how much pain he must be going through. Blue squeezes my hand gently and I take steady breaths to control the fear looming within.
Major turns to us and his eyes are still white. He stretches his hands out and we both look at him, waiting for him to tell us what he needs. "I need your blood,’’ he mutters calmly. Rex is still trembling on the bed but now we know he is asking for Blue’s blood. "The blood of a relative,’’ he explains.
"I am not related to him.’’ Blue manages.
He shakes his head "He is your mate. You are a warlock. It will work.’’ He shouts and I can tell he is getting impatient. Blue lets go of my hand and I watch him as he pierces into his skin with his teeth. I notice his werewolf canines as they come out and I watch as the blood starts to gush out. He does this like it is nothing—and I guess it is nothing to him. He is doing this to get Rex back. I would do the same in a heartbeat. Major grabs his hands and pours the blood on Rex. This is some voodoo shit—even for me. I never imagined in all my years on this planet that I would be involved in this kind of situation. The blood drips unto Rex and it looks like it is burning as smoke splatters out of it. Rex’s screams get louder but Major just ignores him.
For the first time, I see him. It starts out with his tiny button nose and his blue eyes. I see the curls of his red hair as they form. I don’t know what Major is doing but it is working and now I don’t want him to stop. I need Rex back and suddenly there is this bright light, telling me that he is close. Blue notices and walks back to me, completely the blood dripping from his wrist. Rex’s voice is the next thing to come back. I hear the timid and husky voice that only he can carry as he screams loudly in pain. I don’t even mind that he is in pain anymore, the fact that he is himself again is all that matters.
Fuck yeah.
Chapter 318: Pushing me away
Rex
Everything is a blur but the pain is still strong. If I feel this way after taking the remedy that Major gave me, how would I have felt without it?
I am in another bed, in the room they kept me earlier. I don’t even know how the whole thing ended. I don’t even remember anything but the look of Gyles and Blue’s faces. The worry in their eyes. I could tell that watching the whole thing was difficult for them and the second they left the room, I noticed their absence. I feel Gyles next to me in the bed. I don’t know how long I have been sleeping. Everything is exhausting.
My whole body hurts.
He is holding me tightly, almost like he is afraid to let go of me. I know he is not asleep from the gentle caresses on my hair. His touch is like electricity, somehow, it makes me feel alive and I don’t want him to let go.
My eyes are still closed. I don’t know if it worked. I don’t know if all the pain was worth it and I know I can find out by opening my eyes and seeing for myself but I am scared. Scared that everything would have been for nothing. I feel like myself but I have felt myself ever since I woke up from that dream. I don’t want to be let down. I don’t want the disappointment of waking up and still being in her body. I don’t know Levine but I already hate her for doing this to me.
Gyles’s hand moves slowly on my hair and I take a deep breath to register his touch. I know he is watching me. I can’t feel his eyes on me. My heart races in my chest, being in his arms is everything to me.
I hear the door to the room open and Blue’s scent kicks in. it is strong as it travels through my nostrils and tugs at my heartstrings. I hear his footsteps and I know this is me being creepy. I am already awake. I should just open my eyes.
"He’s still asleep?’’ Blue asks. I feel Gyles move against me but he doesn’t stop touching me. His touch is doing wonders to my body.
"He has been through a lot."
"I need to talk to you about something,’’ Blue manages. I keep my breath steady because he must not want me to know about whatever he wants to talk about.
"I don’t want to leave him right now. I am still on edge about everything that happened earlier,’’ Gyles whispers, trying not to wake me up but I can hear him clearly as his hot breath hits me gently.
"We can talk here."
"Major seems to think he can help with the enchantment spell. I don’t know if I trust him yet,’’ Blue mutters with a serious tone. From the sound of his voice, he is unsure. I want to be included in this conversation but I am sure they see me as fragile right now.
"I don’t trust him either,’’ Gyles retorts immediately. Gyles will always be Gyles. He will always be stubborn and blunt. Right now, he isn’t hiding how he feels about the man that helped me. I don’t know how I feel about Major and that is because I don’t even know him. Would I have trusted him to help me, if Blue didn’t?
I don’t think so but now from their conversation, it seems like whatever he did, worked. I have to give him the benefit of the doubt because for now, he saved me, so until he does something wrong, I can’t condemn him like Gyles is doing right now.
"We don’t have to trust him. Remember we talked about doing this the good way?’’ Blue asks him calmly.
"Yeah."
"I think Major’s way is purer than the book. I know you think the book is our only option but I want to try and trust him first.’’
I can almost picture Gyles rolling his eyes "He has a crush on you?’’ he mumbles so low that I almost don’t hear him. Oh, I see. He is jealous right now. This doesn’t have anything to do with trust. He sees Major as a threat. So that is why he doesn’t like him. I don’t have any issues with Major liking Blue because I know that our mating is stronger than some little crush.
"But I love you,’’ I feel Blue climb on the bed as it dents to his weight "I love you and Rex, so I don’t have eyes for anyone else."
He is assuring him that he doesn’t have anything to worry about and from Gyles’s silence, I think it is working. Gyles lets go of my hair and I feel lonely as he shifts away from me. I open my eyes and they are in each other’s arms. This is the time to wake up but I like the sight in front of me. I like the place they are right now. After all the indifferences. After all the fights, secrets and manipulations. They are in such a good place. Coming to the coven was not a mistake. It was meant to happen. Getting them to this point makes it all worth it.
"I want you to take Rex back to the coven once this is over,’’ Blue says slowly pulling away from him. His one is firm—almost like he has thought this through. Possibly why he wanted to have this conversation without me.
"No," Gyles refuses immediately.
Blue’s sigh is loud "Please for once just trust me. Do this for me,’’ he begs, the desperation evident in the pain in his voice. I know this is not easy for him but he can’t just decide. He can’t just choose to do this on his own. He needs us—no matter how much he tries to push us away.
"I am not going anywhere without you,’’ I chose this moment to open my eyes and let them know that I am awake. The sound of my voice sends chills down my spine. I didn’t know I would miss it so much. They are both staring at me, my eyes shift to Gyles. He has a smile on his face.
Do not give in to him.
He sends me a mind link.
Chapter 319: Levine’s visit
ƒrēeNovelFire.com
Blue.
"Thanks for this,’’ I tell Major calmly. He looks drained from earlier and I feel terrible for all I have asked him. He smiles widely and his perfectly white teeth come into view. With a wink, he slaps my shoulder playfully "I would do it all in a heartbeat.’’
He is flirting again and I don’t even mind it. He knows that I will never return his feelings, so he is only hurting himself. My heart belongs to Gyles and Rex. They are all I want. I walk him out of the house and he stops in front of the door with a flirty smile. His smile is deep and pierces into his eyes. Maybe in another world, we would have actually been an item—a world where he wasn’t a jerk to me.
"What is the plan on locating Levine?’’ he asks me, his expression changing to a serious one.
I haven’t really been thinking about Levine. My whole focus is on getting Rex back to normal so that I can send him back to the community. He being here is just endangering him further. The confinements of the community act as a source of protection. He has been there all his life and nothing happened to him. Just a week out of the community and he has almost died numerous times. I don’t want to be the reason why something will happen to him.
"Levine is obviously in hiding. She wouldn’t want to found right now.’’
He shakes his head in refusal "Levine is not like that, she wouldn’t just do this and disappear,’’ he seems to believe in her a lot. There must be a reason why he trusts her so much when the evidence all points to her.
"We will find her,’’ I try to give her some assurance, even though I don’t believe that it will be that easy.
He nods "I will help you unbind Rex, but you have to promise me that you will not execute her. Give me your word that you will give her a chance.’’
He is trying to bargain with me like I have a say in this. I made a promise with the elders. They gave me a week. One week and then Levine was to be executed. Now, I don’t have Levine anymore. I don’t know how I will explain all that to them. I don’t know if they will believe me. I have five days left, to get Levine back and unbind the Rex from her. Now Major wants me to protect the one person that shouldn’t be given a chance.
"She killed my mother. I can’t protect her.’’
I don’t want to give him empty promises. I know that he has helped me, I know that I owe him a lot for bringing Rex back but I have to avenge my mother’s death. She hasn’t even been buried and he wants me to betray her because of him.
"I know. I am not saying she shouldn’t be punished. I know she ended up working with the wrong person and somehow, she was punished for it."
I am so grateful for all his help but I will not let him manipulate me into thinking I need to do what he wants.
"I can’t promise you anything. I don’t even understand your relationship with her. Why are you so keen on protecting her?’’
He sighs and then runs his hands through his hair. I can see that this is hard for him. He doesn’t trust me too. There is more to it and he is not telling me. Now I don’t feel guilty about not trusting him either.
"I can’t talk about this and I know that you have things that you wouldn’t be able to tell me but I need you to trust me. She is not the monster that you see her as, please just don’t judge her the way they all will here."
I don’t know what to say. I will not make any promises to him. Once Levine is found, judgment will be taken on her like everyone else. She will not be treated any differently just because Major helped me get my mate back.
"I will be back tomorrow with the countermand potion. It might take me a while to get all the ingredients for it."
"How come I haven’t ever heard of this before,’’ I raise a brow in suspicion. I find it really hard to believe that he has all the solutions to our problems.
He smiles and his teeth show "It’s not a typical potion and I don’t think you need to know how I came across it.’’
More secrets.
Things that he doesn’t want to tell me.
"Don’t worry about all that Blue. Just help me with Levine and we will be even.’’
He is trying to blackmail me. It is not going to work. I walk him out of the house and he waves to me as he enters his car. The drive to his house is not long and I am sure he will be home in a couple of minutes. On my way back to the room, I feel a piercing sensation in my head. Slowly stopping in the hallway, I clutch the sides of my head and for a second, I close my eyes and it feels like I am being pulled into someone’s head. At first, all I see is darkness, before a face comes into my head.
Levine’s face.
I know what this is. This is a communication spell. She pulled me into her mind. She is trying to talk to me right now. After deceiving me and killing my mother. I don’t have anything to say to her. I just want her to let go of my mate. I want her not to involve them in this.
I want to be done with all this.
"I am sorry about all this Blue. I didn’t mean for this to happen,’’ she tries to reach for me. This is all in my head. This is basically just her voice in my head. She is forcing this connection.
"I can’t talk to her. It is one-sided. She just wants me to listen to her lies.
Chapter 320: The argument
Rex
"I am not going anywhere." I sit up on the bed. My mind is made up. I am not scared of anything anymore and I will not let him convince Gyles that the best thing for him is our absence. He is trying to be a hero but we don’t need a hero. We need to be together. I have seen Beau and Alanis and they are only stronger together.
We had Cassius in the community. Uncle Fallon is still a threat. He is acting as if the community is the safest place for me when in reality, being with them is the safest thing for me. No one cares about me as much as Blue and Gyles. They are the only ones that will fight for me until death, being together is all we need to overcome this.
Gyles is with me on this. He doesn’t want to take me. He knows that staying here with Blue is the best bet for all of us.
"You’re awake,’’ he manages at the same time, he runs his hands through his hair. I am exhausted. My bones hurt. It feels like I have just run a marathon on low fuel. I am hungry and weak and frankly just tired of everything but if I have to give my all to this argument, then I would. I would make sure I convince him that I won’t leave. I will do everything in my power to fight him on this.
"Blue why do you keep pushing us away,’’ Gyles speaks up. His voice is firm, he is trying to be assertive.
"I am not pushing you away. All I do is for the two of you." he is still on the bed. His eyes are stuck on Gyles. He knows that if he can convince Gyles, he will be able to convince me. To him, Gyles is the problem. The stubborn one. I am just someone that would listen. No matter what. He has another thing coming this time. I am not going to leave. The moment Levine did this to me, I became involved and I will not leave until she is captured.
I will not leave until everything is resolved.
There is no way in hell, he is not going to convince me to leave him alone in this place. Everybody is mischievous. He is not safe here and he could end up like his mother. I will not let that happen. I will not let anything happen to him.
What do you plan to do here?
My wolf asks me.
I know that I am weak and not the best person to protect anyone. I know to Blue I am just a burden and maybe that is why he wants to send me away but I will never forgive myself, If anything happens to Blue while I am away, how will I live with myself. How will I forgive myself for deserting him?
"Then don’t send us away. We can help you. We want to be here with you.’’
Blue sighs loudly.
"Someone is controlling you. You killed my mother Rex. Yeah, I know it wasn’t on you but I can’t have people make you do things. What if Gyles is next?’’
He is trying to hurt me right now. He is trying to make me feel so guilty that I will agree to his demands "The problem is, you don’t trust us to do anything.’’
Gyles is doing the same thing.
They are both trying to manipulate the situation. This is not how I want this to go. I don’t want to guilt-trip him. I don’t want him to agree on formality. I want him to want us here. I want our presence to be needed.
"This is not about trust. It is my duty to protect you,’’ he turns to me. His eyes are red "It is my duty to protect both of you.’’
"Why is it your duty? Who made you responsible?’’ I ask him because I want to know why he decided to carry it all on his shoulders. We are together in this. Not one person and he is acting like everything is on him.
"Because you are my only family. I don’t want anything to happen to you both."
"And what about you, who is going to protect you?’’ Gyles asks him exactly the thoughts running through my head. He seems to think he is the only one that worries. He thinks he is the only one that is hurting.
"As long as the two of you are okay. I will be too.’’
"Stop being so stubborn. Stop thinking the world revolves around you and your one problems. I am tired of having to explain that we are in this together. Get it to your head now.’’ Gyles shouts so loud, his voice echoes through the wall. As if I said, Gyles is the stubborn one. He is the one that would need convincing.
My heart thuds in my chest. I hear the pounding in the silence that comes next. Suddenly, I feel another presence inside me. Everything we discussed is suddenly unimportant as something significant happens inside me. "I feel her,’’ I interrupt their stare fest. Blue is the first one to blink as he turns to me immediately, his brows furrowed.
"Huh?’’ he asks still breathing heavily. The conversation is not what he wanted. I know he thought it would be easier now that Gyles is trying but I also knew that Gyles wouldn’t just give in.
"Levine..." I pause and take a deep breath as the pounding in my chest intensifies. At this point, they are both watching me. "I feel Levine right now. I know where she is.’’ I tell them as the pictures in my head get clearer. I don’t know if this is another trick but for the first time since this happened to me, I am in control of my surroundings. I know everything that is happening and it is either because she wants me to see this or she is getting weaker.
It is a good thing.
