Ch. 301..310
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 301-Agenda Alec ignored her and continued driving, which frustrated Felicity. Nonetheless, it wasn’t enough to make her give up. “Alec, we’re all friends,” she said, “and friends always take care of each other.” Remaining silent, Alec glanced at Jenny, who coughed when she met his gaze.
Jenny turned to Felicity and said coldly, “Felicity, your father told me to bring you to Parrington because he wants you to work hard. You’re not here to mess around. For his sake, I’ll make sure you get a job, but that doesn’t mean you can sit back and relax. If you don’t do well, you’ll be fired, and I’ll just send you back to Orchid Village. “As for your little agenda…” Glancing at Alec, Jenny looked for the right words before continuing, “I can ignore it, but you better think about the consequences of offending someone you can’t afford to offend. Let me make it clear to you now that I won’t plead on your behalf if that happens.” Her blunt words stunned Felicity, rendering her silent. While she understood what Jenny was trying to say, her words were too ruthless and cruel, and they angered Felicity. “Did I ask for your help?” she spat out.” Do you think you’re that powerful?” “Great, I’m glad to hear that. Didn’t I just say I won’t plead for you?” Jenny replied before turning away.
After another four hours, they finally arrived at Parrington. Felicity had been to Parrington two years ago, but because she failed to find a job, she returned to Orchid Village. Now that she was back, she realized how much Parrington had changed in just a few years.
She was a little out of place following Jenny into Perry Residence. However, she made sure not to show. it. “Jenny, how much rent do you pay every month? It must be expensive.” “Well, it’s not too bad.” Jenny didn’t answer her question as she didn’t want Felicity to know too much.
Alec walked them to Jenny’s condo but didn’t go inside as he was tired from driving all day. “Rest early, guys. I’ll head back now.” “Thank you. It must’ve been exhausting for you.” Jenny felt very sorry as their trip to Orchid Village wasn’t fun for Alec. Instead, he became a chauffeur for two days.
Alec grinned at her. “What’s so exhausting about being with you? It’s you who will be exhausted soon.” He was referring to Felicity. With Felicity as a cousin, there was no way for Jenny not to feel exhausted.
After that, Alec returned to his condo, and it wasn’t until he closed the door that Felicity came to her senses.
“Alec lives across from you?” she asked in disbelief.
“Yeah.” Jenny nodded and opened the door to let the two children in. She told them to wash up and go to bed early. After all, they were already feeling sleepy in the car.
Felicity entered Jenny’s condo in a daze, still unable to recover. Why was Alec, the richest man in Parrington, living in Perry Residence? Although the place seemed pretty classy, shouldn’t Alec live in a mansion?
“Why does he live here?” Felicity couldn’t help asking.
Jenny seemed to guess what she was thinking. “Why do you care so much? What does it have to do with you?” “Why does it not?” Since Alec wasn’t around, she stopped pretending to be nice and told Jenny, “Let me make this clear. I have my eyes on Alec, so he belongs to me. You better not get any funny ideas.”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 302-Yes, I Like Him Jenny couldn’t hold back her laughter. “Alec is not an object. He’s not yours just because you claim him. Don’t you think it’s time you wake up, Felicity?” “I don’t care. You stay away from him. You’re not allowed to approach him.” Felicity knew Alec was interested in Jenny, so she had to stop the two from getting closer, or she would stand no chance.
Jenny ignored her and walked straight to the bathroom, but Felicity didn’t stop there. She followed her into the bathroom, asking, “Why aren’t you answering me? Are you going to steal Alec from me?” Jenny continued to ignore her and reached for her toothbrush. However, Felicity snatched her toothbrush and asked, “Do you like Alec?” “Yes, I like him! What about it? Am I not allowed to like him?” Felicity frustrated her. Couldn’t she give it a rest?
Hearing her confession, Felicity felt the urge to turn violent. “How can you like him? Why do you like him? You’re a divorcee! You have no right to like him!” “You’re a psycho!” Jenny rolled her eyes at her. She snatched her toothbrush back and brushed her teeth. When she was done, she returned to her room without saying a single word.
Felicity shouted at her, “Alec is mine! Don’t you dare take him away! Let me tell you, I want to compete fairly with you, so you better not play any tricks behind my back-” Jenny closed the door before she finished, successfully shutting out her voice and restoring peace to her ears. Felicity must be crazy in love with Alec.
That night, although many thoughts lingered on her mind, Jenny soon fell asleep.
She had many things to do the next day. Not only did she need to bring the two children to meet their adoptive family, but she also had to find a job for Felicity.
Plus, she needed to find a place for Felicity, as she didn’t want to live with her forever.
Felicity was still asleep when Jenny headed out with the two children, not bothering to wake her. After leaving breakfast on the table, she took the two children out.
She was surprised to see Alec waiting for them downstairs, so she asked, “Don’t you need to go to work?” “Aren’t you going to bring the children to meet their adoptive family today? Since I was the one who made this arrangement, I should go and see them too,” he replied, leaving no room for Jenny to argue.
She nodded and said, “Okay, let’s go together.” They got into the car and headed to their destination. The journey there was very quiet.
“Are you nervous?” Jenny asked the two children.
Justin nodded while Lilian didn’t react. Perhaps she didn’t understand what was going on.
Jenny patted their heads and said, “The people we’re bringing you to meet today are all good people, so don’t be nervous.” Justin nodded, but he was still unable to rein in the tension growing within him. He was afraid that they would not like him and his sister.
“Alec, do you like the lady yesterday or Jenny?” Justin asked suddenly.
Alec was taken aback by his unexpected question, but he made sure not to show it. “Why are you asking?”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 303-3 Angry Words Jenny wanted to cover Justin’s mouth, but she was too late. Things turned awkward when Alec looked at her. Hurriedly, she turned her head out the window, feeling a little guilty. Alec smiled but said nothing.
Soon, they arrived at their destination. The adopters had been waiting for a long time, and when they saw them coming, they hurried to welcome them.
When they were all sitting in the living room, the couple looked at the two children in adoration. “Justin and Lilian, right? They are so cute.” “Hello.” Justin greeted them with a smile, trying to win their favor.
Although Lilian seemed a little distracted, she followed her brother’s example and greeted the couple. She even praised the woman for being beautiful, which brought a smile to her face that never seemed to fade.
In no time, the two children were mingling happily with the couple. As Jenny and Alec watched from the sidelines, Alec asked, “You told Felicity that you liked me?” The sudden question made Jenny jerk upright. She thought Alec had forgotten about it, so she didn’t expect him to bring it up. Faking a laugh, she answered, “I said it out of anger.” If Felicity hadn’t acted so obnoxiously, she wouldn’t have lost control of herself.
“Out of anger? Why do I feel that you genuinely meant it?” Alec didn’t buy her story. Jenny wasn’t someone who would say such a thing just to annoy Felicity.
Jenny remained silent, refusing to admit it. However, Alec didn’t mind. As long as she knew it was true, it was fine with him. With that thought in mind, he announced, “I’m going to make a call.” Jenny nodded.
Alec headed to a corner to call Vincent. “Any updates about the ten plans I asked you to draft?” “I have already figured it out, and a report on the plans has been placed on your desk,” Vincent replied. He got excited thinking about the bonus he would receive.
Satisfied, Alec hung up the phone and returned to Jenny’s side. They had lunch at the couple’s home and got a taste of their cooking skills.
“Mr. Faust and Miss Walter, we are very happy with Justin and Lilian. When will the adoption process begin?” the couple asked, a little worried.
As long as the adoption was not formalized, they would be worried. When Jenny looked at the children, Justin nodded at her while Lilian smiled. Although she didn’t know what would happen to them in the future, she could tell that they liked the couple very much.
“Anytime you want,” Jenny said. “I hope the children will grow healthy and happy under your care.” That was her only wish.
“Don’t worry, Miss Walter, my wife and I won’t have any more children, so Justin and Lilian will be our only children. We will treat them well,” the husband said sincerely.
Jenny nodded. “Alright, let us get the formalities completed as quickly as possible.” She wanted the two children to resume a normal life as soon as possible. They couldn’t go on without attending school forever.
“I’ll take care of that,” Alec said. Those were trivial things to him, but it would be a lot of trouble for Jenny to handle them herself.
“In that case, thank you for your help, Mr. Faust. With your help, I’m sure things will proceed much more smoothly.” They thanked Alec, feeling very grateful to him. To them, Alec was an unreachable figure completely out of their league. Not only did he bring Justin and Lilian to them, but he was also willing to help them with the adoption process.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 304-Work Hard After lunch, Jenny and Alec left, bringing Justin and Lilian with them as they couldn’t just leave them there. Jenny had agreed with the couple that they could bring the two children out every day. When the adoption was formalized, Justin and Lilian would officially become their children.
After driving the three to Perry Residence, Alec headed to work. Jenny told him to hurry up and not delay his work because of her. After he left, Jenny took the two children back home. She thought Felicity would have already woken up by this time, but she had underestimated her laziness.
When Jenny knocked on her door, Felicity opened it and drowsily asked, “What are you doing? Why are you knocking on my door so early in the morning? Don’t you know that I’m still sleeping?” Jenny was furious. She couldn’t understand how Felicity, who had such a hardworking father, could be so lazy.
Nonetheless, Felicity couldn’t care less that she was angry. She came out of the room and began eating when she spotted the food on the table.
“I only get up at this time when I’m at home. Do you think I’m supposed to work hard like you?” Her mother had told her that she was born to enjoy life, unlike Jenny, who had to work hard.
Jenny was exasperated. “Are you saying you’re not here to find a job in Parrington?” After hesitating, Felicity shook her head. “Of course not; I’m here to find a job.
Don’t you think a person can change?” If she said she wouldn’t work, Jenny would definitely send her back immediately, and Felicity didn’t want that. She had finally met a rich man. If she went back, wouldn’t Jenny be the one to bag the prize instead?
“Okay, I’ll give you a chance,” Jenny said. “We’ll leave in half an hour for your interview. If you’re even one minute late, you’ll return to Orchid Village.” “Jenny! You can’t do this-” “I’m not joking with you.” Jenny looked at her, her expression stoic.
It was then that Felicity realized Jenny was quite a scary person. She gritted her teeth, reluctant to obey Jenny. Alas, she had no choice. With a huff, she headed back to her room. She had a quick change of clothes and came out to stand in front of Jenny, asking, “Are you happy now?” “Wise decision.” Jenny had been serious about sending her back as she figured Felicity wouldn’t work properly even if she found a job for her. It would only be a waste of time. However, she decided to give her a chance after Felicity heeded her instructions and dutifully changed her clothes.
Jenny dropped the siblings off at a nanny’s house and brought Felicity to La Vie Jen Rose Designs. She didn’t tell Felicity it was her company as she didn’t want her to start slacking off. She had already talked to Jade to ensure no one else in the company would told Felicity about it.
“This is my friend’s company. Given your education and experience, this is the best job you can find. If you don’t cherish it, there’s nothing else I can do to help you,” Jenny said after Felicity’s onboarding process was complete.
Felicity waved her away, not taking her words to heart. “Don’t worry, I’ll do well.” “I hope so. You’re not a kid anymore, so stop making your father worry about you.” With that, Jenny got up and left. However, she didn’t leave the company.
Instead, she went to Jade’s office upstairs to see how the dresses turned out.
After all, she hoped to launch them to make the name of La Vie Jen Rose known as soon as possible.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 305-Kick Her Out When Jenny arrived at Jade’s office, Jade got to her feet immediately, saying, “You’ve come at the right time. Take a look at the dresses.” She handed her a turquoise dress, and the color alone was eye- catching.
From Jade’s smile, Jenny could tell she was very satisfied with the dress. She studied it carefully. Although the color was fine, the fit was not quite to her expectations. Frowning, she handed it back to Jade. “Have you tried it on?” “Me? No.” Jade shook her head. “Why? Did you spot a problem with the dress?” “I don’t think the fit is very good, and I’m worried there might be some issues. You should get a few people to try it on so I can take a closer look.” Since it would be their first batch of designs, Jenny wanted to do her best.
Jade didn’t object to her suggestion. She made a phone call, and several people walked into the room. soon after. Jenny handed them the dresses. After they tried it on and showed it to Jenny, her face fell.
“I thought it looked okay. Why do you seem rather unsatisfied?” Jade asked her after everyone left.
Jenny sighed and said, “Don’t you see that the dress only looks good on someone with a good figure?” Among those who tried on the clothes, only the two with better figures looked the best in them while the others looked rather average.
“Of course, while clothes maketh the man, the opposite also stands true. Clothes from any brand would experience the same issue.” Jade didn’t understand why Jenny was so concerned. In her opinion, it was not a problem at all.
Jenny shook her head and replied, “A good design would be able to accommodate any body shape, and that’s the design I want to create.” If only people with good figures could wear her clothes, what made her brand different from the others? Why would anyone choose her brand?
“So you mean you want to make changes?” Jade asked.
“Yes, I’ll take them back to make some changes. Have others try on the other pieces to see how it looks. If it’s still the same, I’ll work on them again,” Jenny replied. She took the issue very seriously.
Jade nodded in response, understanding her concern. “You requested to make this batch of clothes out of silk, but there are very few silk suppliers. So, the price exceeds our budget.” “It doesn’t matter. Just buy it for the time being. Once we have a stable demand, we’ll raise silkworms ourselves and produce our own silk,” Jenny said.
Jade was surprised by her idea. “Wouldn’t that be too much trouble? We don’t have the experience or space for that.” “Have you forgotten about Orchid Village?” Jenny grinned. Once everything was running smoothly, she would get the silk from Orchid Village, which would help the villagers make money.
Jade gave her a thumbs up, saying, “Your foresight is amazing.” “Exactly, that’s why you shouldn’t worry too much,” Jenny said, patting her shoulder. She had full trust in Jade’s abilities.
After discussing work, Jade pulled Jenny to sit on the sofa and asked, “Are you serious about bringing Felicity to work here, or did you do it for your uncle’s sake?” “If she performs well, then yes. I was serious about it. If she doesn’t…” Jenny was silent for a moment, then said, “I’ll kick her out.”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 306-Too Much Jade expressed concern about David, knowing that Jenny was grateful to him.
“What about your uncle?” she asked.
Jenny replied confidently, “He’ll understand. He’s not unreasonable.” Jenny also warned Jade to avoid being seen by Felicity, explaining that she had told Felicity that the company belonged to a friend but had not revealed that Jade was the general manager. If Felicity knew that Jade was working there, she would start acting up as Jade had once lived in Orchid Village.
Jade reassured Jenny that Felicity wouldn’t have the opportunity to come to their floor, which was exclusively for management.
Just as Jade was about to ask how things were going between Jenny and Alec, the office door opened, and Max entered without knocking. He greeted Jenny like an old friend and sat on the sofa, indicating that he had been there before.
Jenny wondered why Max hadn’t visited her in a long time, but she soon found out why. She smiled mischievously at Jade, “Jade, why didn’t you tell me?” Jade looked confused and asked, “What do you mean?” When the realization hit her, Jade said, “Don’t think too much. Max and I just have a normal relationship.” She quickly explained that Max had expressed interest in cooperating with the company, which was the only reason they had been in contact.
“Cooperation?” Jenny repeated, skeptical, and raised her eyebrows at Max.
He faked a cough and shied away from her gaze. “Yes, my family plans to venture into the fashion industry, so I’m here to gain some insight and experience. I mean, we’ll end up working together sooner or later.” Jenny didn’t believe Max’s words. The Pearsons had shown interest in the fashion industry? No one would ever believe that.
When Jenny didn’t buy his story, Max quickly changed the subject and suggested they have lunch. together. Jenny didn’t answer. Leaning on the sofa, she turned to Jade. “Are you going, Jade?” “Of course, let’s go together,” Max answered before Jade could.
Jade frowned as she didn’t want to go. Although Max always invited her, she didn’t think they were close to begin with, so she always refused him. With Jenny around, things were different. “I’ll go if Jenny is going,” she said.
Jenny looked at Max, musing, “So it’s up to me to decide, right?” “Would you be so kind as to join me for a meal?” Max said with a chuckle, but it sounded forced. He knew exactly what she was thinking.
“My kindness comes at a high price,” Jenny replied.
Although Max’s face fell slightly, he forced himself to say, “My family owns many luxury shopping malls across the country. If your brand wants to set up a store in one, I can give you a discount.” “A discount?” Jenny found his offer amusing. “The best location, half the rent.” Max scoffed, “Impossible!” She was asking for too much!
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 307-A Capitalist’s Ugly Habits Jenny gazed at Max, unperturbed, and Max clenched his teeth in frustration. “My family can offer a fifty percent rent reduction only for the high-end shopping malls in Parrington, not in other parts of the country, *he grumbled. Being in charge of the Pearson family, Max knew that such a decision could be used against him.
“Just Parrington?” Jenny sounded disappointed.
Max snapped back, “Parrington is good enough. Do you have any idea how much rent in the best spot of a high-end shopping mall costs per year? Besides, my family owns more than one mall in Parrington.” He believed it was premature to ask for nationwide shopping malls at this stage, as it was unclear whether Jenny’s brand could expand beyond Parrington.
“Okay.” Jenny rose from her seat, content. “Let’s go eat, and Max, you’re treating.” “You’ve been with Alec for so long, and all you’ve learned from him is his ugly capitalist habits,” Max snickered.
Jenny was unbothered by his comment. Getting tangible benefits was what mattered most.
Max led the way, with Jade and Jenny following behind. “You’re so clever,” Jade whispered. “Max has been to our company so many times, and I never thought to speak to him about renting a spot in his mall for our brand.” Jenny glanced at her and said, “It’s alright, Jade. You didn’t know that the Pearsons owned malls.” However, Jenny knew that the only reason she didn’t know was because she never went looking for that information.
Jenny wasn’t certain what Max and Jade always discussed when they met, but it was clear they weren’t talking about work. She didn’t mind if Jade and Max got together, but she couldn’t help feeling a little worried about Jade’s past and afraid that Max might end up hurting her. When they arrived at the restaurant and Jade went to the restroom, Jenny asked Max about his intentions toward Jade.
Max lightly laughed in response. “I thought you already knew.” Jenny smiled when Max confirmed his intentions. She leaned back in her chair and said, “You’re so fickle. The last time I heard from you, you said you wanted to pursue me.” Max didn’t take her words seriously. “You have Alec around you, so I don’t have a chance.” “Speaking of Alec,” Jenny said, “you seem to be on good terms with him recently, and I haven’t seen you bother him.” Max felt a bit embarrassed that Jenny had noticed that. “What do you mean on good terms?” he retorted.” I’m just looking for the perfect opportunity to take his family down.” “Is that so?” a familiar voice asked from behind Max, making him freeze as if he were a criminal caught in the act. Alec sat next to Jenny and looked at Max, “I didn’t expect you to still harbor evil intentions. Do you not want the Pearson family anymore?” Max awkwardly laughed it off. “I’m just joking.” “What do you mean?” Jenny asked, turning to Alec as she noticed something amiss in what he had just said.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 308-Difficult Alec was about to speak when Max cut him off, “You promised not to tell anyone until the matter is successful.” Alec nodded and whispered to Jenny, “I’ll tell you when he’s not around.” Jenny giggled and covered her mouth.
Annoyed by their whispering, Max said, “Don’t think I didn’t hear you!” Jenny found his reaction amusing. As Jade approached them from afar, Jenny said, “I don’t care about your past, Max, but if you want to pursue Jade, you have to give up your old ways. She’s not like those other women outside.” Max glared at her. “Why do you always lecture people?” His question annoyed her. “I just want to make sure Jade is treated right.” Finally, Max relented and whispered, “I’m not fooling around.” He had no shortage of women around him. If he were just fooling around, he wouldn’t have continued wasting his time after Jade repeatedly refused him.
Just then, Jade arrived at the table, surprised to see Alec there. “Mr. Faust, you’re here too?” she asked. “Just call me Alec,” he said with a smile. “Calling me Mr.
Faust sounds too formal.” He was polite to Jade since she was someone important to Jenny.
Jade nodded, saying, “Okay.” Alec took care of Jenny attentively the entire meal, and Jade was pleased with his behavior. Max tried to help Jade, but she declined his offer. “There’s no need, Mr.
Pearson. I can manage it myself.” “Since you’re already calling Mr. Faust, Alec, why don’t you call me Max? We’ve met so many times, and I’m closer to you than he is,” Max pointed out.
Jade felt embarrassed. “Sorry, I’m just not used to it.” “Just call me Max,” he insisted.
Feeling even more embarrassed, Jade complied, “Okay, Max.” Pleased with her response, Max nodded. “That’s more like it.” After the meal, Max suggested going shopping, and Jenny didn’t object. After all, he had agreed to halve the rent, so leaving right away wouldn’t be fair to him.
However, she sensed Max’s intentions and gave the two some space while shopping, trailing behind them with Alec.
“Do you think Max stands a chance with Jade?” Jenny asked Alec, curious about his opinion.
Alec observed the way Max and Jade interacted and shook his head. “It’s unlikely.” “I agree.” Jenny knew that Jade had been through a lot and found it difficult to trust men, especially someone like Max, who had a history of constantly being in the news for his romantic affairs. Anyone in Jade’s position would have a hard time accepting him.
She then asked Alec about Max’s request for his help with the Pearson family.
Alec was surprised. “How did you find out?” “It’s not that difficult,” Jenny said nonchalantly. “The situation within the Pearsons is pretty bad, but Max seems unfazed, which makes me think he has everything under control. You guys don’t seem to be that hostile to each other anymore, so I’m not that surprised you helped him. But I can’t figure out how he convinced you.” Given their strained relationship, Jenny had thought that Alec would never help Max.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 309-What Do You Want to Talk About?
Alec wouldn’t admit to Jenny that he only agreed because Max promised to stop harassing her. It was absurd, but Alec went along with it anyway.
“It seems his acting skills aren’t very convincing. If anyone from the Pearson family catches wind of this, they will start speculating.” Alec changed the subject, ignoring Jenny’s previous comment.
Jenny shot him a quick glance, but she didn’t press further when he remained quiet.
“You don’t need my help with the Blooms anymore?” Alec asked, concerned that Jenny might not be able to handle it alone. He wanted to assist her but didn’t want to interfere with her plans either.
Jenny pulled out her phone, opened her photo album, and handed it to Alec. “No, I found a lead.” She had been keeping an eye on the Blooms’ home and finally discovered some useful information.
Alec studied the photo and furrowed his brow. “Who is this?” “Sam’s older sister,” Jenny replied, beaming. “She’s the Blooms’ oldest daughter, but few people know about her. She receives no preferential treatment despite working for them.” “Are you planning to instigate her?” Alec deduced Jenny’s plan.
Jenny nodded before shaking her head. “Not exactly. The Blooms don’t seem to have a great relationship with her, so I don’t need to provoke her.” “What if she’s content with how things are?” Alec asked, aware that not everyone was as ambitious as Yvonne.
Jenny was silent for a moment before saying, “It’s possible, but I think the chances are very small. Even if she didn’t complain at the beginning, after a long time of not being recognized for her efforts, who wouldn’t start resenting their family?” Jenny believed that if she were in Sam’s sister’s position, she wouldn’t be able to tolerate it for long.
Alec was silent then said, “Since you have a plan, let’s go ahead and do it.
Regardless of success or failure, I’ll support you.” The Blooms may be difficult to take down, but there was still a chance.
“Thank you,” Jenny said gratefully. It was great to have someone who always had her back.
While Jenny and Alec chatted behind them, Max and Jade had an uncomfortable conversation in front.
Jade hadn’t thought much about it before, but now she couldn’t help but listen to what Max and Jenny had said earlier. She could guess what Max meant if she thought about it enough. She walked in silence, her heart heavy.
No idea what was on her mind, Max asked casually, “There’s a movie theater upstairs. Do you want to go watch a movie together?” “No!” Jade refused without hesitation. Feeling her reaction was too exaggerated, she quickly explained, Sorry, I don’t really like watching movies.” Max laughed and asked, “Do you not like movies, or do you not like watching movies with me?” He wasn’t stupid. On the contrary, he was quite perceptive.
“Max…” “Jade, I think you already know how I feel about you. Why don’t we talk about it?” Max said, glancing at Jenny and Alec behind them before turning back to her.
Jade chewed on her lips, neither agreeing nor refusing. “What do you want to talk about?” “Well, nothing much. Why don’t we start with what kind of man you like?” Max answered with a grin, his eyes filled with dominance as he stared straight at Jade, making her afraid to meet his gaze.
Jade didn’t know why she felt scared. She hadn’t done anything wrong, but she felt guilty. She forced herself to calm down and reminded herself that she was several years older than Max. She couldn’t show any fear in front of him.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 310-Is That a Threat?
“Someone mature and reliable,” Jade answered.
Max smiled lightly and rubbed his nose, saying helplessly, “Doesn’t sound like me.” “I honestly don’t know why you’d like me, Max. You can have any woman you want. You don’t have to spend your time on me.” She didn’t think that Max would actually like her. At most, it was just a crush. Flirtatious men like him typically only ever felt that way.
Max understood what she was implying, but he stood firm. “Do you think I’m just messing with you?” Jade said nothing, but her eyes told him everything he needed to know.
“Would you believe me if I said that I was serious?” Max smiled bitterly. If he had known that those. scandalous rumors of him would result in the mess that was today, he wouldn’t have created that reputation for himself.
Jade shook her head, looking solemn “It doesn’t matter. I don’t care. I don’t know if Jenny has told you this before, but I’m a divorcee.” She had no intention of starting a relationship at the moment, so she didn’t mind letting Max know about her failed marriage. She just wanted him to give up.
Indeed, Jenny hadn’t told him, but Max had his suspicions. The news didn’t caught him by surprise. “So what if you’ve been divorced?” he asked, smiling nonchalantly. “I don’t care.” “I’ve gone through a divorce, and I’m way older than you. I just don’t understand why you like me.” Jade. couldn’t fathom it at all. Max was the president of his company, and he could have any young, beautiful woman he wanted. It just didn’t make sense for him to like her.
“It’s not like I can control my feelings.” He was frustrated too. He noticed he had paid more attention to her when they first met, and he couldn’t help it. Later on, he found out that this was how it felt to fall in love.
It wasn’t something he could control.
Jade knew she couldn’t convince him, so she said bluntly, “Don’t waste your time on me. I’m not interested.” “You’re being too harsh. Aren’t you going to give me just one chance?” Max was exasperated. How could he handle it if she rejected him outright?
Jade glared at him. “No.” “Alright, alright. We’ll still be friends, even if you won’t give me a chance. We can still go out for meals, can’t we?” He was persistent.
Jade shook her head, knowing full well his intentions. “I’m busy. I wouldn’t have the time to eat with you.” “Well, I’ll reconsider that thing about your brand entering the market, then.” He smiled, looking at Jenny behind him. “She spent a long time getting this deal. Are you going to just let it go to waste?” Jade was furious. “Is that a threat?” “Yeah” He didn’t deny it. He had always acted unscrupulously. As long as he got what he wanted, nothing else mattered.
Jade gritted her teeth She had to reign in her anger. “The business deal is already made. You can’t go back on your words.” “That depends on you.” Jade took a deep breath. She had to bear with it. Once the deal was signed, Max wouldn’t have the chance to rescind it. With that thought in mind, she nodded.
“Alright. It’s just a meal. I wouldn’t have anything to lose.” “That’s right. We’re all friends. A meal or two wouldn’t hurt.” Max smiled brightly after hearing her response. He didn’t care if she was silently cursing him.
