Ch. 371..380
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 371-Did She Hear Her Right?
As if knowing what Morgan was thinking about, Jenny said, “I’ll handle the money.
Don’t worry.” “Jenny, I…” Morgan gaped. “I don’t think you know how…big a sum my family needs to make things up.” If they needed less, they wouldn’t have thought about an arranged marriage in the first place. “How much do you need?” Jenny asked casually.
Morgan stared at her in surprise and mumbled, “One billion.” Not a hundred thousand, not several hundred million, but a billion.
Jenny grew silent at the number, to no one’s surprise.
“I know you want to help me, Jenny. You’ve helped me so much already. You really don’t have to do “I’ll cover it,” Jenny interrupted steadily, making Morgan sit back in shock.
“Sorry, what did you say…?” Where was Jenny going to find one billion dollars? Not even her divorce settlement with Alec would’ve garnered that much money.
The car slid to a stop by Jenny’s neighborhood.
“You really don’t have to worry about the money. Just tell your dad to be careful about the Murrs antics.” It was highly likely the Murrs would bear a grudge against the Goldings after what happened tonight.
Morgan nodded, following Jenny’s lead. “Alright. I’ll tell them.” When they were in the elevator, Morgan asked again, “Jenny, where would you get one billion dollars?” It’s not that she didn’t believe Jenny’s words. It was just that her being able to have that much money so soon was too strange. Jenny was an incredible doctor, but her salary didn’t reach millions annually.
Jenny took out the key to her front door. “I invest in my spare time, so I have some savings.” It wasn’t as easy as it sounded, though. But she wasn’t worried. She could borrow some money from Zack. His work was going pretty well… And if she still couldn’t find enough funds, there was Gilbert… “Nah, not Gilbert, Jenny thought.
“Invest?” Morgan stared at Jenny in surprise. She was just discovering this about her colleague. Jenny didn’t reveal further, though, so Morgan didn’t pursue the topic any longer. I really don’t know how to repay you for your help, Jenny.” Jenny placed a hand on her shoulder and smiled. “You don’t have to, Morgan. I’m not some saint.” “Huh?” “Can you arrange a meeting for me with your parents tomorrow? I want to talk to them about becoming a shareholder,” Jenny explained.
Shareholder?
It took Morgan a second to understand what Jenny was saying. Still, she was deeply grateful for her help. “You have a good heart, Jenny. You have no idea how much help your investments will be to my family.” No one in their right mind would invest in their company right now, so Jenny’s willingness to invest surprised her.
“Get some rest for the night. Your family’s problem is solved now, yeah?” Jenny urged, then showed Morgan to her guest room. She then went to bed straight away, already exhausted from the event of that evening.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 372-Aren’t You Embarrassed?
The next morning, the wonderful smell of breakfast wafted from the kitchen as Jenny left her bedroom. The only person who would’ve come by so early to cook for her was Alec. Was he here?
Jenny went to the kitchen, and to her surprise, she found Morgan at the stove.
“Morning, Jenny. Breakfast’s ready.” Morgan switched off the stove, plating bacon and eggs.
Jenny stared at her in surprise. “You know how to cook?” “Mhm.” Morgan nodded. It wasn’t a big deal to her.
Jenny, meanwhile, grew gloomy. Why did it seem like everyone around her knew how to cook but her? Why didn’t her grandfather hire a chef to teach her when she was young?
They were about to eat when the doorbell rang. Morgan instantly got up. “I’ll get it.” When she opened the door, she saw Alec standing coolly outside.
“M-Mr. Faust?” Morgan asked in surprise. Why was he here? Hadn’t he divorced Jenny already? Were they…getting back together?
Seeing it wasn’t Jenny, Alec frowned. “Why are you here?” Morgan was about to explain when Jenny came over. “I had her come over to help with something. Did you….come over to make me breakfast?” “Mm.” Alec nodded, not asking what it was Jenny needed help with. He was about to head into the kitchen when he noticed the food on the dining table.
“Morgan’s already cooked for us,” Jenny explained.
The moment Jenny said this, Morgan felt something change in the way Alec looked at her. It was hostile and made the hairs on her neck stand up.
“Why don’t you two eat first? I’ll cook some more.” Morgan decided, then ran off into the kitchen, away from the two.
Alec was pleased by her quick sense and went to sit at the table. “Come and sit.
Eat.” He gestured to Jenny, She went to sit by his side. “Well, you’re not polite at all.” “It’s just breakfast,” Alec shrugged as he ate some eggs. Jenny bit her lip and said nothing.
Moments later, Morgan came out with her breakfast and sat at the far corner of the table, afraid of sitting too close to the two lovebirds. She was curious about their relationship now but didn’t dare ask further.
“Did you come here to ask for help for your family?” Alec suddenly asked, turning to Morgan.
Nearly everyone in Parrington had heard about the Goldings going bankrupt.
They had arranged for the marriage with the Murrs, but Alec had a strong feeling the Murrs wouldn’t actually help the Goldings.
Morgan stiffened upon hearing the question. “Y-yeah.” It wasn’t her initial reason for being here, and Jenny had already decided to help them, so there was no point in lying anyway.
“Aren’t you embarrassed about asking Jenny in the first place?” Alec scowled.
Clearly, he didn’t have a good impression of Morgan’s intentions.
His cold, stern aura made Morgan quake slightly in her seat.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 373-e.“What? Think I can’t handle it?” That large dent in the Goldings’ accounts wasn’t a big deal to Alec like it was to most people.
Jenny turned to Morgan to see what she might think. But Morgan herself was still reeling in gratitude for all the offered help.
“I know you can handle it, but…” Jenny sighed. “I just think it’s better if I take care of things.” Morgan might not know why Alec was helping them, but Jenny knew it was to prevent herself from having to spend her savings. That’s why she was refusing his help.
“You?” Alec questioned, not getting angry at her response. “Looks like I’ve underestimated how much doctors make these days.” “Maybe I have other passive sources of income.” Jenny side-eyed him. “Plus, I can always ask for help from Zack.” “Why not let me handle it?” Jenny set her silverware down. “I want to do this for Morgan, so I don’t want to trouble you.” “It’s no trouble at all.” Alec shrugged. It was just money.
Jenny swallowed, then insisted, “I just wanna help her myself.” “Alright. As long as you’re happy,” Alec said, shrugging. He could always step in if Jenny needed help.
Just like that, things were settled without Morgan even having a say.
After Alec left the Jenny’s place, Morgan slid over to her side and asked, “Jenny, are you and Mr.
Faust…” “Yes. We’re dating.” Jenny nodded. It was pretty obvious.
Morgan nodded, now curious. “But didn’t you guys divorce?” “It’s…complicated. All you need to know is that we’re dating, that’s all. What happened in the past… isn’t important anymore.” Morgan nodded solemnly, no longer pushing the topic. “Then why turn down his offer to help? Wouldn’t it be easier if he did?” Having Alec help would not only support them financially, but it would also show Parrington that they had the Fausts’ faith.
“I just…didn’t want to trouble him.” Frankly, Jenny wasn’t sure if her relationship with Alec would last, especially after what Yvonne had told her.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 374-I Think You Know On the way to the Goldings’ villa, Jenny received a phone call from the police telling her Miller had been charged in court and that the judgment would be released soon. Jenny was pleased with it, as she didn’t want the man harassing his son.
She stepped out of the car with Morgan when they reached the large villa. They were greeted warmly, likely to be the result of Morgan telling them what had happened.
Jenny and Morgan’s parents went to the study to discuss the investments while Morgan stayed in the living room. She didn’t know much about such goings-on, after all.
An hour later, the three left the study. Morgan guessed the discussion ended well on account of the smiles on her parents’ faces. She relaxed instantly. Finally, they would be rid of the bankruptcy rumor.
“Thank you, Jenny.” Morgan nearly bowed to her. She really didn’t know what to do to repay this favor.
Jenny smiled and waved a contract in her face. “It was a contractual agreement, not a gift.” Plus, she benefited greatly from this investment too. She wouldn’t have gotten nearly fifty percent of shares if it weren’t for the situation the Golding family was in. Once they were out of deep water, she’d start earning from the investments.
“Why don’t you stay for lunch, Jenny?” Morgan suggested.
Jenny shook her head. “I still need to go to the hospital. I think you know too-I have two surgeries scheduled today.” “Ah…” Morgan nodded. “Alright then. I’ll see you out.” “It’s alright. I think you can discuss with your family what to do next anyway. The Murrs might try to do something after what happened last night,” Jenny said, then left after saying goodbye.
Morgan waited until she left before she asked her parents, “Mom, Dad, the bankruptcy issue is… dealt with now, right?” “Yep. This billion-dollar investment will save us from it while also helping us develop,” Jamie Golding said confidently.
Morgan smiled. “Then my engagement to Winston Murr…” “We’ll call it off right away,” Jamie said, expression now stern. “I can’t believe what a scum that boy is!” The two had been infuriated upon hearing what Morgan had told them. Good thing the marriage wouldn’t go through now.
“I don’t blame you. That jerk hid his true self too well.” Morgan might not have realized that until after the marriage, so good thing she did. But there were still things that worried her. “They won’t try anything, right?” If the Murrs really did something, it might still be bad news for them while they were still trying to regain their footing.
Jamie gritted his teeth. “Your mother and I will take care of that. We’re not scared of them!” Everything seemed to get easier after having money. He sighed, “We really have your friend to thank this time. If it weren’t for her…” They wouldn’t even think twice about not letting Morgan marry into that family now that they no longer need their help for funding. They loved Morgan too much to see her with the likes of Winston.
“I know. I’ll do my best to pay her back however I can.” Morgan nodded, silently promising to do whatever it took to become someone useful to Jenny Walter.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 375-Didn’t Want to Interrupt Meanwhile, Jenny had gotten right into her scheduled surgeries after reaching the hospital, not getting a moment’s rest. When she didn’t see any text messages from Alec afterward, she couldn’t stop the disappointment from rising in her chest.
Jenny then called her boyfriend. After all, it wouldn’t do well for this relationship to be one-sided.
*Jenny? Finished all your work?” “Mhm. Have you? I thought we could grab dinner together.” Alec hesitated for a moment before answering, “No, I still have some things to work on here. Might have to go overtime.” “I can send you dinner then?” Jenny asked.
Alec blinked, pleasantly surprised. Jenny had never wanted to go to his workplace before. “Sure.” “What’re you in the mood for?” Alec wasn’t a picky eater, so he just said he was fine with whatever Jenny got him.
After hanging up, Jenny went to get some takeout before heading to Faust Group HQ.
Vincent was already waiting for her when she reached. He couldn’t exactly disobey his boss’ instructions. Mr. Faust had been concerned the front desk would give Jenny a hard time as it was her first time there.
“Miss Walter,” Vincent greeted. Jenny nodded in greeting.
Before they headed for the elevator, however, Vincent led Jenny to the front desk.
“This is Miss Walter. From now on, let her through if she’s here to see Mr. Faust, understand?” He had to make an effort to ensure the front desk knew Jenny, lest they upset Mr. Faust if they stopped her.
The receptionists nodded in understanding. Only then did they go into the elevator.
“Who’s that? What do you think her relationship with Mr. Faust is?” one of the receptionists whispered to her colleagues.
“You don’t know? She’s Mr. Faust’s ex-wife.” “Ex-wife? What’s she still doing here, then?” To them, divorcees shouldn’t be involved with one another anymore. That’s why Jenny coming to meet Alec was strange. Still, they didn’t figure anything out in the end. Only one thing was clear:
they couldn’t offend Jenny Walter in any way.
Vincent knocked on Alec’s office door before letting Jenny go in. Alec was reading his documents when she stepped in, seemingly not noticing her arrival.
“So handsome,” Jenny sighed internally as she gazed at him. She didn’t usually see him so focused on work.
“Is she here yet?” Alec asked. He seemed to think Jenny was Vincent.
Jenny stayed silent, waiting for the man to look up at her after several seconds.
When their eyes met, Alec grinned. “Hi. How long have you been standing there?” “Not too long. I didn’t want to interrupt your work.” Jenny beamed and sat on the lounge, arranging the takeout on the coffee table.
Alec sat beside her, documents in hand. “You wouldn’t be interrupting at all. I’m happy you’re here.” “Really? I thought you only cared about work,” Jenny teased, giving him a fork.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 376-This is My Choice The two happily ate dinner, enjoying each other’s company.
“Had a busy day?” Jenny asked, sneaking a peek at Alec’s desk filled with mountains of documents. She felt bad. He always seemed so relaxed and unbothered around her, even cooking for her sometimes. Turns out he was actually really occupied at work.
Alec nodded. “Yeah. Company’s going through a peak period.” He didn’t tell her about what was strange with work lately. It seemed like someone was directing all the chaos hurtling at his company. But without any evidence of who it was, he had decided not to tell Jenny first in case she worried.
“You really don’t need any help with the Goldings?” Alec asked.
Jenny shook her head and swiftly took out the contract she had signed earlier.
“Everything’s settled.”- Alec read the contract, then smiled. “Not bad. I thought you were gonna give it all without taking anything in return.” The contract stipulated clearly that Jenny would get 40% of the Golding company’s shares in exchange for her billion-dollar investment. There was little to no chance Jenny would be walking away losing.
“I’m not a saint.” Jenny laughed through her meal. Alec decided not to burst her bubble because only a saint would help a dying company with that much money.
After they finished eating, Jenny decided not to interrupt Alec further with his work. “I’ll go home first. Will you be working overtime tonight?” “Looks like it. I’ll have Vincent drive you.” Jenny refused. “No, it’s okay. You need all the help you can get.” She couldn’t let Alec lose his assistant now that he was swamped with work.
Just as Alec was hesitating, his phone rang. He picked up and hung up within ten seconds.
“Now I really need Vincent to drive you.” When Jenny frowned, Alec explained, “I need you to get me something from my place. Vincent can give it to me when he comes back.” “But-” She didn’t have his house keys, she wanted to say, but Alec had already plopped them into her hand.
“Here. Keep ’em. From now on, my place is your place too.” Jenny blinked in surprise, then smiled awkwardly. “I’ll have to give you the keys to my house too, then?” Alec grinned. “That’s your choice to make.” He wouldn’t force her, of course.
“I should…give these back to you,” Jenny suddenly said.
“Why?” Alec immediately looked upset.
“I…haven’t thought things through yet.” She hadn’t decided whether to give her keys to Alec or not. It felt like the next step to deepen their relationship, which meant it was a major step.
Noticing this, Alec gently caressed her cheek. “It’s okay. Think about it first. We don’t have to rush.” “But the keys…” “Are yours now. That’s my decision. Okay?” He was willing to show all of himself to Jenny, and it was okay if she needed time to do so.
Jenny nodded. “Okay.” “Go on back then. The documents are on my study shelf.”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 377-The Woman in the Photo When they reached Perry Residence, Vincent was about to open the car door for Jenny when she stepped out herself.
“I’ll get it for you, Vincent. You can wait outside first,” she said.
Vincent shook his head. “No need. I’ll follow you upstairs and wait by the door.” He didn’t want to make Jenny take two trips. Mr. Faust would give him a hard time if he did.
Jenny didn’t refuse. The two went up and swiftly reached Alec’s condominium.
She used the keys he had given her to open the door while Vincent silently waited beside it. The walls inside were painted black, reminding her of Alec’s design task for her. Jenny reminded herself to get it done ASAP as she walked in.
The study was different from the living room. It had an oppressive air, making Jenny question how Alec could stand being in there while working.
She went to the shelf by the study desk and quickly found the documents Alec needed. She was about to leave when she suddenly remembered what Yvonne had told her the other day. The picture of the woman under Alec’s desk… Jenny glanced at the desk, a thought forming in her heart.
“A peep wouldn’t hurt. It might make me feel better.” With that thought in mind, Jenny went to the desk and opened the drawers. She found nothing like a photo in them. Yvonne had lied to her.
Jenny sighed in relief. She was prepared to leave when she noticed a book on the desk. It was a novel.
When did Alec have time for novels when he was so busy with work?
Jenny picked it up and flipped through it. A photo fell out. On it was a woman, arm-in-arm with a man and making a peace sign at the camera. Her smile was bright and beautiful.
Jenny felt a headache coming on the longer she gazed at the photo. She wanted so badly to believe Yvonne was lying to her when she said Jenny looked like this woman. But…they were practically sisters. It wasn’t even skin-deep, no-the woman had a similar air to herself.
The man the woman was holding was none other than Alec himself. Jenny had a strong feeling he was just as happy as the woman was in the photo. She felt like she might hyperventilate, so she quickly tucked the photo back and put the book on the table. She then ran out of the study.
“Miss Walter,” Vincent greeted, noticing how pale Jenny was.
The woman forced a smile. “Here, Alec’s documents.” “Thank you.” Vincent nodded.
As Jenny watched him leave, the smile on her face fell. She stayed by Alec’s condominium for a long time before finally leaving.
Who was the woman in the photo? Alec’s ex-girlfriend?
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 378-Grab Lunch Together Jenny couldn’t exclude that possibility. She tried to console herself. People had exes, even her-it was normal. But the fear that she might just be a substitute terrified her.
Jenny hated how fragile she felt. It had never been like this before she got into this relationship. She couldn’t stop imagining what Alec was up to when he wasn’t spending time with her.
Did he still talk to that other woman?
She even considered asking Alec who that woman was and whether she was just her substitute. She stopped herself every time, pretending nothing had happened.
Every day that she worked, she pushed these doubts from her mind. But Alec only got busier and busier with work, increasing her anxiety.
“Hey Steph, wanna grab lunch together?” Jenny finally called Stephanie. She needed to find someone to vent to before she lost her mind.
Stephanie was already waiting for her at the café, and she immediately noticed the weird look on Jenny’s face.
“What happened? You don’t look okay. Have you been getting enough rest?” “Yeah.” Jenny sighed.
“Talk to me.” Stephanie was worried now. She had never seen her friend like this.
Jenny ordered an Americano to wake herself up. “It’s just some things that have been on my mind.” Stephanie propped her chin on her hands and stared at Jenny closely. “Is this because of Alec?” She had witnessed the moment they admitted they were together, so she had hoped for the best for her friend’s love life. She didn’t expect problems would arise so soon.
Jenny nodded.
“Has he been ignoring you? Is there some other woman?” Stephanie was getting irritated at Alec. Jenny’s silence didn’t help. “Well? Tell me what’s going on, please.” Jenny felt like laughing. “It’s nothing much, really. I just found out he has an ex.” Stephanie gaped in surprise before finally smiling. “Is that why you got upset?” Ah, women. Always worrying in a relationship.
“Not upset…just…uncomfortable.” Jenny then explained how Alec’s ex looked just like her.
Stephanie patted her shoulder. “You really don’t need to worry about this, Jen.
She’s just an ex. It’s not gonna interfere with your relationship with Alec. Plus, he would really be an idiot for ditching an amazing woman like you. If anything, dump him. You’ll score way bigger fish than him.” Jenny was way too into Alec right now, but Stephanie could empathize. This was Jenny’s first serious relationship, after all. The one in the past hadn’t been like this.
“He’s not terrible, you know,” Jenny sighed. She knew this was Stephanie’s way of consoling her.
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 379-Are You Out of Your Mind?
like “He’s not, and neither are you. You have to be confident in yourself, Jenny.
I’ve never seen you this,” Stephanie said solemnly.
Jenny dismissed it. “It’s not about confidence.” She just wondered if Alec liked her because she resembled the woman in the photo.
Who…was she?
Jenny had too many questions but didn’t tell Stephanie any of them. It would only worry her friend.
“How have you been, by the way? Is Paul causing any trouble?” Jenny swiftly changed the topic. She didn’t want to talk about her relationship anymore. It only aggravated her further.
Stephanie sighed, sipping her coffee. “I’ve been alright. Paul’s been busy, but we’ve been handling it okay.” She wouldn’t have agreed to lunch with Jenny if the problems had persisted.
“Good. Remember to always let me know if you need help,” Jenny said.
“Hehe, I will.” The two continued their lunch, dropping the topic of Alec and Paul. It allowed them a moment’s reprise from their worries.
When Jenny went home that night, she saw Alec’s closed apartment door and figured he was still at work. After some thought, she decided to call him. It was reasonable; they were dating, after all.
“Hey. What’s up?” Alec answered once the phone call went through.
Jenny’s heart clenched when she heard how tired he sounded. “Still busy with work?” “Yeah.” “Have you had dinner yet? I can bring you some.” Jenny knew Alec would forget to eat once he got busy.
To her surprise, Alec refused. “It’s alright. I’ll have Vincent get them for me. Get some rest. I promise I’ll spend more time with you once work clears.” “Okay,” Jenny murmured quietly, feeling sad.
As if sensing this, Alec’s tone softened. “This will be over soon, honey. Promise.” “Mm…remember to go to sleep early. Your health is more important than work,” Jenny responded. She wondered if she had just overreacted. Alec had just been really occupied these few days, that’s all.
Jenny went back to her apartment after hanging up. She dove into bed first thing after showering, determined to finally get some rest after days of worrying.
Back at the Faust Mansion, Alec sighed after hanging up from his call with Jenny.
The man before him didn’t wait for him to speak before saying, “What did I say about talking to her? I warned you!” Instead of answering, Alec gazed at his grandfather sitting at the side of the room.
“Are you out of your mind?” “Watch your tone with your grandfather, Alec Faust!” The man before him gritted out fiercely. Still, Alec ignored him.
Old Mr. Faust sighed. “He’s your father, Alec. I…” “I don’t have a father!” Alec growled, face plunging darkly. “My father died years ago. You said so yourself.”
To Be Yours Again by Taylor Chapter 380-Give Him a Chance Mortimer Faust’s expression was equally ugly. Being called dead by one’s own son was not an easy thing to go through.
He was about to argue when Old Mr. Faust yelled, “Don’t you dare talk! If you had been here for Alec, he wouldn’t be so upset with you!” Mortimer winced and said gently, “Dad, things were complicated back then. I didn’t have a choice.” “Didn’t have a choice?” Alec sneered. “What terrible situation would’ve made you abandon your wife, I wonder!” “I…” Mortimer tried to retort but couldn’t find anything to say.
“Where’s your whore now, hm? Abandoned her too?” Alec hissed.
“She died.” Mortimer sighed, sadness lingering in his eyes.
Alec couldn’t be more pissed off than he was right now. “So you come crawling back only after your mistress dies?! I should kick you out right now, you fucking-” “Alec Faust, I am your father!” Mortimer roared.
Alec sneered. “My father. Is. Dead.” No way was he going to accept this man as his father now.
Old Mr. Faust hurriedly stopped their argument from escalating. “That’s enough, Alec. I know you’re angry with your father, but you should consider giving him a chance now that he’s back.” “A chance? Sure?” Alec’s eyes burned with contempt. “Bring my mother back from the dead, and you’ll get your chance.” “Don’t you cross that line, Alec!” Mortimer cried, startled that his son had matured into a man he utterly had no control over. “I’m your father whether you like it or not, and Faust Group’s rightful president!” He had been gone for decades but was still the company’s head director, courtesy of his father. The old man might be upset with him, but he secretly still cared about his son.
Alec hadn’t cared about this before, given his father had long left them, but his sudden reappearance completely upturned everything.
“Are you going to allow this, Grandpa?” he asked the old man sternly.
“Give your father a chance, Alec.” Alec gritted his teeth and glared at Mortimer before leaving. “Don’t regret choosing him over me.” “Alec!” Old Mr. Faust called out, but Alec had already left the mansion.
Mortimer was nonchalant about it, however. “Don’t worry, Dad. He’ll come to his senses in time,” he said to the old man.
“Hmph! “I’m not opposed to your return, but if you so much as touch a hair on his head, I’ll make sure you never have a place to call home!” His son was important to him, but he had raised Alec since he was a child. Their bond was tight, and he was one of the most precious people in his life. Naturally, he wouldn’t let Mortimer do anything to Alec.
Mortimer nodded. “I wouldn’t do anything. He’s my son.” “Stay out of his relationship with Jenny, too.” This Mortimer didn’t agree. “Don’t worry. I know what I need to do and not do.” He didn’t know what kind of spell that woman had cast on his son and father to have them so infatuated with her. Mortimer couldn’t let her marry into the family no matter what.
He couldn’t make the same mistake twice, after all.
