Ch. 206..210: Trapped in a Secret Marriage with a Dangerous Billionaire Chapter 206-210

Chapter 206: Fear For Her Life

Immense fear attacked Olivia to the point that her body was literally shaking. And even after the gunshots stopped, she was still unable to catch her breath.

"W-what w-was that sound just now?" she stumbled over her words as her hands slowly uncovered her ears.

Meanwhile, somewhere in the woods, some meters away from the house, Asher watched the footage from the drone his team had sent to spy on it.

"Can you find out which room she is in at the moment?" He asked, shooting his gaze to the man in black standing beside him.

"Yes, Sir," the man replied and quickly went away. A minute later, he returned to Asher’s side with a piece of news. "She is in the master bedroom."

"Good. Start a fire from the kitchen and force her to exit from the back door," Asher instructed, finally taking her eyes off the monitor.

Immediately, the man nodded and left to carry out his orders. He passed the instructions to the others and immediately got them to work.

---

Olivia was sceptical about spending another minute in the bathroom after the dust had settled.

The next moment, she got out of the tub and used a clean towel to dry her body before changing into a clean set of clothes. But right there, as she was dressing, she heard a sound similar to a wave of wire enveloping something.

Olivia’s eyes widened in shock. She quickly wore her clothes completely and ran out of the bedroom towards the living room, and what her eyes saw forced a scream out from her patched throat.

"Ah!!!" she screamed as her gaze took in the burning oven in the kitchen. She was at a loss on what to do but just as she recovered from the shock and was about running inside the kitchen to try and put the fire out, the microwave exploded and immediately, the fireworks spread.

Olivia staggered backwards and fell on her butt, her heart beating erratically in her chest as fear gripped her senses.

She didn’t have the luxury opportunity to think about the reason for the fire and how to put it off anymore. She quickly scrambled to her feet and ran back toward the bedroom.

"I can’t die here!" she said, muttering under her breath as she rushed towards the nightstand to grab her phone. There wasn’t any service, so she didn’t bother to attempt calling the fire service.

Olivia remembered her bag and quickly rushed to the closet to grab it. At the same time, the fire increased and started spreading to the living area. Although she didn’t know about this now, she could tell the fire had spread to neighbouring areas close to the kitchen.

Olivia could care less about her outfit in the laundry basket and quickly ran out of the room but to her shock, the hallway was already covered with thick smoke.

It had only been a minute since she left the kitchen, and already, more damage had been done.

Olivia didn’t dare to linger anymore. She quickly covered her nose with her inner elbow and ran towards her left, straight to the in-house pool area where a back door was located.

Surprisingly, the door wasn’t locked after Olivia’s second attempt to force it open, but she was in so much shock that she didn’t realise that fact.

She was only grateful to have escaped the burning house before it swallowed her whole.

Without looking back, Olivia ran towards the cleared path in the woods to escape as Asher watched her from the footage the drone above her captured.

"That was fast," Asher mumbled to himself with tightly knitted brows.

"W-what do you mean, Sir?" his subordinate asked carefully with a curious stare on him.

Almost immediately, Asher took his gaze off the footage and glanced at him. "I was intending to have her swallow a lot of smoke before escaping."

"Maybe we shouldn’t have unlocked the backdoor in time," his subordinate spoke in understanding.

A deep sigh escaped Asher’s lips as he put his hands on his waist. "It’s a pity I couldn’t punish her a bit."

---

On the other hand, Olivia, who had just managed to get on the major road after her non-stop race, stopped a taxi.

It was only after she had settled in the car’s back seat that she began to catch her breath.

She clutched her chest and said breathlessly, "I-I almost died today! I almost got burnt and offered as a toast offering to God!"

Olivia was so traumatized by the event that she couldn’t think of anything else other than it. Even, she didn’t remember to check her phone for network services until twenty minutes into the ride. And by then, her heart rate had normalised.

"Miss, are you okay?" the driver asked, glancing through the rear-view mirror. But as soon as Olivia heard his voice, she became vigilant just in case he turned out to be another kidnapper.

"Focus on taking me to my destination, and I will pay you handsomely," she said, watching him sceptically.

Left with no choice, the driver refocused his attention on the road and didn’t speak to her until he got to her destination.

Finally arriving outside the gates of the Scott family’s main residence, a deep sigh of relief escaped Olivia’s lips.

She didn’t waste a second before stepping out of the car. Next, she asked the driver for her bill amount. When he told her, she opened her purse, brought out the exact cash, and passed it to him.

The driver took the cash from her, his brows laced with confusion. Immediately, he called her attention, seeing that she was about to walk away.

"Miss! You didn’t add the tip!" he reminded, pushing his head out the window.

Hearing that, Olivia stopped in her steps and turned to him. "Don’t be greedy," she scoffed before turning away to continue in her steps.

Obviously, she changed her mind about her promise to double her taxi fare after he had successfully brought her home.

Chapter 207: Owen’s Calculated Move Against Olivia

Olivia sighed more than ten times in relief before she finally got to the house’s entrance.

It felt surreal that she was finally back here after she thought her life would have ended about an hour ago.

Thinking of how she would have a big dinner, soak in a warm bath and sleep under the warm cover of her duvet, she quickened her steps.

The butler welcomed Olivia at the door, but to her surprise, he greeted her respectfully and didn’t move to open the door for her.

"I have been gone for only two days, and you have already forgotten your place?" she asked, giving him a death scare. "Open the door since to teach you what to do now."

The butler stood in front of the door, blocking her out as he lowered his head. "My apologies, Miss Swift..."

"M-miss what? Did you just address me as Miss Swift?" Olivia asked, quickly interrupting him. She couldn’t believe her ears.

To her horror, the butler ignored her question and went on to deliver the shocking news he had for her.

"The young master has instructed that you should not be allowed into this house anymore."

"What?" Olivia scoffed, taking a step back. "Have you and your young master lost your mind? I still live in this house, so what right do any of you have to lock me out?"

Though Olivia asked that question with rage in her tone, she didn’t wait for him to answer before trying to manoeuvre her way and reach for the door handle, but as soon as she made that attempt, the butler spread his arms out to block her out.

"Miss, please, return to the Swift manor and wait for your properties to be delivered to you," the butler informed as he lifted his head to meet her furious gaze head-on.

"This must be a bad joke," Olivia mumbled as she turned her back to him and paced about before suddenly returning to stand in front of him. "That lousy cowardice-Owen-of-a-man doesn’t have the right to throw me out of this house. So, you better open this door right now because I need to have a word with him," she said, pointing a finger at the door.

The butler refused her request once again, and this time, he mentioned what was at stake for him.

"Miss Swift, my job will be at stake if I let you in, and I don’t intend to lose it."

"You moron!" Olivia cursed through gritted teeth, and in that same moment when her anger had reached its peak, she raised her hand and slapped the butler across his face. "You are just a mere servant! How dare you disrespect me and lock me out of my own house?"

The butler didn’t flinch one bit, even with her fingerprint on his left cheek. No matter what he felt right now for that humiliation, it didn’t stop him from maintaining his composite.

On the other hand, Olivia was provoked by his lack of reaction and proceeded to attack k him with her bag. She struck him with it a few times before giving up.

"Bastard!" she spat breathlessly as her rage increased by a few notches.

But how could Olivia leave just like that seeing how her scum husband threw her out of the house?

She immediately stepped away from the entrance and dropped her bag by the pillar before moving to the corners to pick up some stones the size of her palms. Then, without warning, she started throwing them at the glass windows, shattering each one with all her might.

"Owen, come out right now and face me! You bastard! How dare you kick me out of this house! Come out right now and tell it to my face, you useless scumbag!"

Olivia shouted at the top of her voice while continuing to vandalise the property without a care in the world.

She was mad with anger and looked capable and ready to kill Owen if he dared to take a step in front of her.

"You cheating bastard that sleeps with anything in a skirt! Come out this instance and tell me to my face to leave this house!" Olivia dared.

---

At the same time, Owen’s parents heard the commotion and stepped into the living room only to see him sitting on one of the sofas with a noise-cancellation headset plugged into his ears.

But as soon as he noticed their presence and saw their confused gaze, he quickly removed the headset and rose to his feet.

"I heard Olivia’s voice. Did you lock her outside?" Patricia asked with creased brows.

"Yes, I did," Owen admitted immediately. "She is not allowed to step foot inside this house again. This is my method to get rid of her for good."

Then, moving his gaze from his mother to his father and back to his mother again, he added, "I wouldn’t like you to interfere in our matter. And if you are worried about the noise and the windows she has shattered, I will ask the guards to get rid of her, and even if I have to use my last card, I will fix those windows by tomorrow."

Richard stared at him for a moment before saying, "Then, you better get rid of her this instance and take responsibility for this madness!"

After saying his piece, he stormed off, leaving his wife to do as she pleased.

Patricia withdrew her gaze from his back and turned to her son. "Owen, your father and I are trusting you one more time to clean up your mess otherwise, you won’t escape his wrath. Thanks to you, you have turned the Scott family into a laughingstock and a topic for gossip."

Owen nodded in understanding and assured her he would make things right this time.

"Make sure no scandals erupt from this night," his mother warned before walking away.

As soon as she left, Owen picked up his phone from the glass centre table and made a call.

"Get rid of that woman immediately!" he instructed.

Chapter 208: Coming from A Place of Love

Olivia was still busy shouting threats while throwing more stones at the windows when six men in black suddenly appeared from the corners and rounded her.

"Don’t you dare come close to me otherwise, one of you is going to get hurt!" She threatened as her gaze quickly took them in.

Olivia didn’t want to leave without seeing Owen, but since he already knew what she wanted, he avoided her presence and instead stood in front of the window, hands in his pockets, watching as she was captured and dragged away.

No matter how much Olivia screamed about being violated and how her lawyer was going to keep in touch, the bodyguards dragged her away.

They only stopped until they had thrown her outside the gates along with her back.

Olivia seethed in rage as an invisible smoke rose from her ears and nose. "You bastards! I will never forgive you for this! You lots will burn in hell along with your families forever!"

---

Scott Family’s Old House.

On the other hand, Xander took Aurora outside the house for a stroll just like he had told her. However, shortly after, he received a call from Asher, who informed him about the success of their evacuation.

"Did she pass out or get burnt at least?" he asked, lowering his tone, but Aurora still heard him and narrowed her gaze.

"Unfortunately, none of that happened as we were too swift with our exit plan," Asher informed with a tinge of regret in his tone. "We’ve put out the fire by the way. And not much damage was done."

Xander looked away from Aurora and continued their conversation. "Thanks for the good work. We will discuss this another time. I took my wife back to visit my parents."

"I see. Extend my greetings to your wife. Good night," Asher said.

After terminating the call, Xander put his phone away and turned to see Aurora staring at him.

"So, did she get a scratch or get smoked in the fire?" she asked without missing a beat.

Xander shook his head. "Unfortunately, she left unscathed. But there will be more opportunities to deal with her."

Aurora agreed with him but had a different alternative. "I don’t want Olivia ruining my family’s name along with hers as much as I enjoy it. So, if worse comes to worst, put her in a mental asylum and leave her there until she gets better."

"I will do as you say," Xander said to her before stepping in to take her hand in his. "I have something important I think you should be aware of."

Seeing how his gaze turned serious, Aurora’s brows furrowed. "What is it?" she asked as the scene from the kitchen replayed in her head.

She wondered if he would tell her about what his mother was about to reveal before he interrupted their conversation.

"It’s about the chip that was removed from your head," Xander started, holding her gaze. Aurora’s heart rate increased, but she urged him to continue despite her emotions.

"To find the source, I ran some tests only to discover that it is my company’s product," Xander finished.

Aurora was stunned into silence and couldn’t speak as different narrative swirled in her head. Her mouth was agape as surprise flashed across her eyes.

"Wait... What?"

Xander confirmed the crazy truth with a nod. "Unfortunately, my parents are involved since your own parents got the chip from them."

Just as Aurora was still trying to digest this revelation, Xander continued by apologising to her. "I’m sorry I hid this from you. My intention was for you not to be hurt by anyone else you see as family again as you had recently experienced some deep emotional pain."

Xander laid all his cards on the table by telling her all about his parents’ involvement and how he asked them to keep the truth to themselves because he didn’t want her to relapse.

"I will understand if you are mad at me," Xander continued as Aurora’s silence frightened him a bit. He would rather she hit him or throw a tantrum rather than stand right there with her gaze glued to his face.

"You trusted me, and I wasn’t supposed to keep this information from you even though I thought it was what was best for you at that time."

Finally, Aurora reacted, but the question she asked was unexpected.

"This stuff happened about two months back. Why are you telling me about it now? What made you change your mind?"

Xander tightened his hold on her, afraid she might walk away from him in anger. He would hate for that reaction from her. It would burn him.

"My mum was going to tell you about it, and for selfish reasons, I wanted you to hear it from my lips because I found the truth and hid it from you. It was only right that you heard it from me so you can stay less mad at me."

Though Xander’s truth called for laughter, this wasn’t the right time.

"Good one." Having heard his explanation, Aurora nodded as she slowly pried her hands off his hold.

"I feel good that you hid this from me from a place of love. Thank you for my mental health because I wouldn’t have been able to take the news," saying this, Aurora resumed her steps.

Immediately, Xander followed her, relieved she wasn’t showing any signs of anger. He patiently waited for her to continue as his steps matched hers.

"I also want you to know that I’m not mad at you or your parents. If they hadn’t complied and given the chip to my parents, they would have gotten it from another source and carried on with their plans." Smiling, Aurora cocked her head to the side. "I have chosen to forget about the demons from the past and move on with my life because I love progress a lot. Therefore, I shouldn’t entertain any hindrances on my path."

In essence, Aurora was saying that she had chosen to let go of the past events that hurt so deeply so she could survive peacefully.

Chapter 209: Causing a Commotion at the Old House

As Aurora and Xander walked side by side along the flower path, she said to him, "I hope that just like today, you will be able to tell me all the important information and not keep anything away from me."

"I will do my best," Xander assured her, squeezing her hand gently. "Sweetheart, you know I would never hurt you purposely."

"I hope so," Aurora mumbled with a smile as her gaze reflected their surroundings.

Xander’s lips parted in a bid to counter her doubt, but just then, he heard a female voice screaming some inaudible words harshly and instantly, he stopped in his tracks.

"Do you hear that?" he asked Aurora as his brows furrowed slightly.

Aurora also stopped in her tracks to listen for the voice as she had been distracted earlier by their conversation. She strained her ears and only waited for a moment when she heard the unable female voice.

"Is there a woman screaming at the gates, or is it just me?" She asked confusion etched deep in her brows as she turned to Xander. They both exchanged glances.

"I will ask Liam to take a look," Xander said and quickly whipped his phone out while he grabbed Aurora’s hand with the other hand and forged ahead.

A minute later, Xander dropped the call and turned to Aurora. "Sweetheart, I think we should head back inside and wait for Liam’s feedback."

Aurora nodded in agreement a d followed him back inside. And to their surprise, they walked into the living area to be met with the elderly couple’s worry.

"Alexander, what is that commotion out there?" Old Mr. Scott inquired.

"I have sent someone to check it out. In no time, we will find out," Xander replied as he settled down on one of the sofas with Aurora beside him.

A few minutes later, Liam stepped inside the room and focused his attention on Xander as all eyes turned to him.

"It was Miss Olivia Swift causing a commotion, but the security has swiftly removed her," he informed.

Everyone in the room exchanged odd glances, allowing the revelation to settle in.

Olivia, making a commotion right outside the Scott family’s old manor? What reason did she have to act crazily?

Perhaps, was she too drunk to realize that she had come to the wrong house to make trouble?

"Did she say why?" Aurora shifted uncomfortably in her seat, asking the question everyone wanted an answer to as embarrassment hit her.

She didn’t know why that step-sister of hers always sought to embarrass her at every chance she got.

Olivia seemed to have forgotten that she came from a prestigious family and was required to mind her image in public since her actions would always be traced or pinned on the rest of the family members.

With just one misconduct from her, everyone would think the others were the same, regardless of their own efforts to stand out.

Aurora couldn’t help being mad right now. She was also prompted to give Olivia a backhand slap at least once in her life.

Almost immediately, Liam shifted his gaze to Aurora to quench her curiosity. "She mentioned how unfairly she was being treated after complaining that Owen had thrown her out of the house. Then she asked the elders to resolve the issue while threatening to ruin the entire Scott family."

Aurora cowered in embarrassment. She couldn’t believe that she was shamed even though she wasn’t the one who went raging mad in front of other people’s gate.

Sensing Aurora’s dilemma, the old lady spoke. "That young lady seems to have come to the end of her life span. She is behaving erratically. She needs urgent help before her madness consumed her."

"I hope the rest of my grandchildren can learn a few lessons from Owen and this young lady’s relationship. They weren’t compatible from the onset. I shouldn’t have allowed their marriage in the first place," Old Mr. Scott said, his tone, dripping with regret.

"And it’s not like you ever drummed your support for them, so why blame yourself," the old lady said to him, a little upset. "We didn’t support or disagree with them. We simply stepped back."

Silence ensued in the room as the old man stood to his feet and paced about with his hands crossed behind his back.

Although, Aurora never met any of her grandparents, she could tell that posture her father-in-law took, spelled seriousness.

Suddenly, old Mr. Scott stopped pacing and fixed his gaze on Xander. "I think it’s time I take back the control of marriage in this family. Leaving everyone to marry whoever they wished would bring this family to its premature end."

Right there where Aurora sat, she felt her heart racing in her chest. Although none of this concerned her anymore since she was already married to Xander, but she couldn’t help but feel bad about other people.

But somehow, she could not understand why the rich planned their children’s marriages and made them marry the people they chose for them apart from their self reasons.

Olivia and Owen’s union has proven that parents should be worried enough to investigate the partners their children picked.

Old Mrs. Scott let out a deep sigh. She didn’t say a word to counter her husband’s decision, and neither did Xander.

"Richard didn’t raise his son properly. He totally forgot to pass the guidance you gave to him as a child to his own son. What a shame," the old lady muttered under her breath.

The old lady’s words only seemed to fuel her husband’s anger. The next second, he declared, "I will make this new rule known to others. And anyone who isn’t ready to abide by them should drop the Scott surname and leave the family at once!"

Right after saying his peace, he called the butler over and instructed him to pass a message on to Richard and his family.

After the butler left, a deep sigh escaped the old lady’s lips. Then, a small smile appeared as she shifted her gaze to Aurora.

"Daughter, we are sorry you had to see all of that."

Immediately, Aurora shook her head, trying to manage a smile. "I should be the one apologizing for my sister’s odd behaviour. I am deeply sorry about that."

Chapter 210: Olivia’s Nonchalant Attitude

"You don’t have to apologize on that woman’s behalf." Xander squeezed Aurora’s hand gently as his gaze softened. "She doesn’t deserve it. She needs to own up to her own mistake."

Aurora flashed him a small smile, bringing an end to the conversation.

"You haven’t seen the room I used to live in before. Come, I will take you to it," Xander suddenly said as he took her hand and helped her up from the sofa before turning to his parents.

He bid them ’goodnight’. Aurora did the same before he led her away.

He took her straight up the stairs while chatting about a bit of his childhood and why his parents loved to live in the old house rather than the main residence.

"As you already know, the drama is too much for them to beat, so they prefer leaving together in seclusion and minding their business."

Aurora nodded in understanding. As she was a peaceful person, she couldn’t live in a toxic environment. People like the old Scott couple would experience a spike in their sugar levels or heart rate because of the conflicts.

Due to their old age, they preferred choosing a healthy lifestyle far away from the drama.

"I’m grateful that your private villa is secluded, and only a handful of people know about its precise location," Aurora said thoughtfully. "I feel we would need more peace in the future."

"Good idea," Xander smiled before adding, in contrast to their topic of conversation, "I’m taking the tattoos off on Saturday."

Aurora grinned. "I will miss them. Just let me kiss them one last time tonight."

"As your heart pleases," Xander accepted as they turned up in front of a door by their left in the hallway. The next second, he bent the door handle and pushed it open.

"After you, Ma’am," he said to Aurora as he stepped out of the way and gave her the chance to go in before him.

Xander showed Aurora around the bedroom which reflected his taste back in the days. It wasn’t anything wonderful, but Aurora did enjoy sitting at the foot of his bed and going through his family album.

"I have never met your second brother in person," Aurora said as she stared at the grand family picture before her.

"You will. In due time," Xander promised.

---

Meanwhile, after Olivia was chased away from the Scott Family’s old house, she was left with not much choice but to return to the Swift residence. All the same, muttering curses under her breath.

Today, she almost lost her life. But when she returned to the family, she found a new home with, she was treated like filth and sent away.

How could she ever let go of the mistreatment?

Also, Olivia had to battle another problem in her mind. She had been missing for the past two days straight without a trace. She definitely had to face her mother now after leaving her calls and texts unanswered.

Finally arriving at the Swift residence, Olivia ignored the servants’ greetings and trotted inside, looking a bit dishevelled.

The race from the burning house in the woods to the way the bodyguards at both Scott’s houses manhandled her was really enough to look out of place.

To Olivia’s surprise, both her mother and Aunt were still awake by the time she stepped into the house. They were just different places.

Olivia found Stephanie watching the late-night news in the living room and wanted to sneak away. Unfortunately, it was already too late for that.

"Is that you, Olivia?" Stephanie asked, surprise in her tone as she took off her reading glasses, her gaze taking her in.

Olivia rolled her eyes before slowly turning back around. She was forced to make her way over. "Yes, it is I."

"Your mother said you were missing and reported the situation to the police. You got everyone worried. Care to explain your whereabouts?" Stella demanded.

"I was devastated and depressed after you suspended me. I had to go into seclusion for my mental health’s sake. And I hope you were very much at peace with my absence."

There was a hint of blame in Olivia’s tone. In fact, if it was left for her alone, she would have directly told Stephanie to her face that she didn’t have any right to question her whereabouts.

But because that woman still had a lot of power in her hands to actually kick her out of the company she hadn’t yet given up on, she had to word her thoughts carefully.

Stephanie scoffed at her response. She wasn’t even surprised. "Your mother blamed me as well." Letting out a soft sigh, she added before returning her gaze to the TV and putting her glasses back, "You are still far from having learnt any lessons."

A scowl appeared on Olivia’s face. Before she could depict whether that was a threat regarding her return to Vintage Cellar, her mother showed up in quickened steps.

"Olivia, where have you been? You didn’t return my calls and my texts, you almost gave me a heart attack!"

Stella panted as she bombarded her with question after question without a pause until she was done.

Olivia snapped her head to the wide. Her gaze fell on her mother’s face, taking in her furrowed brows and the streak of concern in her eyes. Still, that did nothing to move her.

"Mum, if I may ask, why are you worried about me?"

Stella blinked a few times, trying to understand the reason for that question. "Olivia, you are my daughter. You went off the radar without leaving any message. Isn’t that enough reason to be worried?"

Olivia gave a headshake. "No, Mum. Although I can’t force you to stop worrying about me since I’m not in charge of your emotions, I would prefer you stay out of my business."

After making that statement, Olivia finally smiled and turned to walk away, neither talking about her forceful kidnap nor the mistreatment she received from Owen and his family.
