Chapter 26: Too Handsome to be a Murderer

Aurora shakily grabbed her phone and dialled Abigail’s number. At the first ring, the call connected.

"Aura, I was just about to call you back. What’s going on? Are you in any kind of trouble? Did Xander—?"

"I’m fine, Abby," Aurora quickly said, cutting her off before she could say anything to incur Xander’s wrath. "I just thought I could invite you to dinner, but Xander has other plans for us tonight, so you don’t need to come again."

There was a pause from the other end, followed by feet shuffling. The next moment, Abigail asked, still in doubt. "Aura, you know you can talk to me if something is bothering you, right?"

"Of course, you are my best friend." Aurora’s heart bled. She had so many things she wanted to tell her unfortunately she can’t do any of that with Xander on her neck. "Did you get the bottles of wine and the invitation card for my champagne launch?"

Abigail let out a soft sigh as the weight on her shoulders dropped. "I got them. Mum loved it and promised to be present at the launch. I invited a few friends of mine from the industry, and I will be there too."

"Oh, thank you so much, Abby, this means a lot to me," Aurora said gratefully.

"Anything for you girl." Abigail finally smiled. "And don’t forget you have the best friend in the whole world with whom you can share anything."

"I know." Aurora nodded, fresh tears pouring from her eyes. "Good night."

As soon as the call dropped, Xander slipped the gun back behind him without taking his gaze off her.

"I will leave your phone with you, trusting you won’t make any stupid move even though I will be keeping a close watch on you; because you are preparing for your champagne launch, and I want its success as much as you do, Sweetheart."

Aurora cringed at that nickname. She felt nauseous. How dare he call her ’Sweetheart’ after threatening to kill her best friend?

"I heard you haven’t had anything to eat yet. Come and join me for dinner," Xander invited calmly as he stretched his hand out.

The only thing that crossed Aurora’s mind when she saw his hand was the scene of him pulling the trigger on that man, nothing else. She was so afraid of Xander’s presence that she didn’t even want to be in the same room with him.

Aurora scooted away from him. "I’m not hungry," she stated, wiping her tears.

"Well, I don’t mind you watching me eat," Xander said, insisting that she followed him out as he stuffed his hands inside his pants pocket. "Also, don’t think about leaving this house until you are ready to listen to the damn story about who I really am."

Aurora glared daggers at him. She wanted nothing more than to strike his face at least once. He was too handsome to be evil.

A few minutes later, Xander sat at the head seat positioned at the end of the table with a dinner spread in front of him while Aurora took the other end with only a glass of water sitting in front of her.

Xander looked her way with every few bites he took, but she refused to return the favour. Then he turned to Nene who was waiting at the side.

"Madam’s eyes are puffed up from all the crying, ice them," he instructed.

Nene nodded and quickly walked to Aurora and helped her up from her seat. "Ma’am, please come with me to get some ice compression done."

Aurora followed her, but not without sending Xander a death glare.

---

Xander had a short meeting with Liam and the head of his security team in his study before going up to the master bedroom. As soon as he opened the door, he saw Aurora grabbing a few pillows.

"Where are you going to, Madam?" he inquired, lifting a curious brow.

Aurora stuffed two pillows under her arms and turned to roll her eyes at him. At first, she didn’t want to say anything to him but thinking that she could at least hurt him with her words, she changed her mind.

"I neither want to share a bed nor a room with a murderer, so get out of my way!" she spat.

Xander’s brows furrowed slightly in confusion. "Aren’t you the wife of a murderer?"

Instantly, Aurora’s mood dampened. She gnashed her teeth, glaring daggers at him. And in the end, he gave up.

"All right, I can’t keep count of how many times you’ve rolled your eyes or glared at me since this afternoon. There are plenty of rooms in this house. I will go lay my head in anyone that wouldn’t mind that I just killed a full-blown man."

After saying that, Xander walked into the dressing room to pick up a few things. When he emerged minutes later, he smiled at Aurora. "Good night, Sweetheart," he said before turning to leave.

The next morning, Xander received a call from the caregiver at the main house, informing him that his mother missed a step. At once, he prepared to leave.

"Don’t let my wife know I left the house," Xander instructed Nene as he threw on his jacket. "And since she won’t come down to eat because of me, send a breakfast tray with lots of fruits to her room."

Xander knew Aurora wouldn’t attempt to eat in his presence and because he cared about her well-being, he made the arrangements. Also, he wasn’t bothered that she would venture into forbidden rooms again. After all, yesterday’s event still haunted her.

---

Xander arrived at his parents’ private living quarters separate from the main house.

As soon as he walked in, he saw his mother sitting on the couch with a bandage wrapped around her left ankle.

"Mama." He walked up to her and kissed the back of her hands before examining her foot. Just then, his father stepped out with a glass of water and handed it to his wife.

"The doctor checked on her an hour ago," old Mr. Scott said as he settled on the single couch in the living room. "Luckily, she only sprained a nerve."

Xander released a deep sigh of relief as he sat next to his mother. "Mama, it seems like you missed me so much that you would sprain your ankle just to have me come back," he teased.

"You are right," old Mrs. Scott responded.

"Unfortunately, we won’t be able to attend the champagne launch anymore," old Mr. Scott said to Xander regrettably.

"Yes," old Mrs. Scott added. "Please extend our compliments and regard to your friend."

Xander nodded in understanding. "I will."

The next half an hour was spent chatting about funny events of the past before Xander’s father remembered something important.

He cleared his throat. Fixing his gaze on Xander, he said, "Your mother and I have been talking about you getting married as you are quickly approaching your forties. So, we arranged a few dates for you. Make time next weekend to attend one."

"Papa, Mama, thank you for being so thoughtful, but you will have to cancel all the arranged dates because I am already married," Xander announced, showing off his wedding band.

His aged parents exchanged confused glances before casting a questioning gaze on him. But right as they were about to start interrogating him, Owen rushed into the room.

"Uncle, you are married?" he questioned, eyes nearly popping out from their sockets.

Chapter 27: First Fight

Old Mr. & Mrs. Scott glanced at Owen before shifting their gaze to Xander, expecting his explanation while hoping he was joking.

"Yes," Xander admitted with a nod. His parents leaned back into their seats, completely out of it.

"Wow!" Owen exclaimed as he sat beside Xander still reeling from the shocking announcement. He could hardly believe his own ears.

Old Mrs. Scott’s brows furrowed. "How can you get married without informing your parents and letting us see the lady first? Which planet did you come from?"

Xander’s lips twitched. "It’s my fault. I didn’t want to fight with some other man for her attention, so I first trapped her with an intimate wedding. You will meet her soon, and a bigger wedding ceremony will be held."

"You trapped her?" Old Mr. Scott raised a questioning brow, seemingly confused. "What do you mean by that?"

"I hope you didn’t deceive an innocent woman into marrying you?" Old Mrs. Scott asked, alarmed as she fixed a piercing gaze on him.

Xander chuckled lightly. "What kind of person do you see me as?" As soon as he posed that question, he turned to Owen, shifting the conversation, "Why did you come?"

"Oh!" Owen quickly recovered from the shock and faced the old couple after Xander successfully distracted them. "Grandpa, please talk to my parents. They have refused to arrange a formal meeting with the Swift family. And it’s been two weeks since the engagement."

"Isn’t that what you get for rush-engaging your ex-girlfriend’s sister without your family’s approval? Who taught you that?" The old lady asked, lines on her forehead.

Owen quickly looked away. It was his turn to get scolded and he couldn’t handle the pressure.

"Owen." Old Mr. Scott sighed. "I will speak to your parents on your behalf, but this will be my last favour on this matter. Is that clear?"

Instantly, Owen’s eyes glowed with excitement. "Thank you, Grandpa. Thank you, Grandma!" He had come with high expectations as Olivia had been disturbing him about it. Thankfully, his grandparents didn’t dash his hopes.

"Now, you can go home in peace," Xander said as he patted his back twice. Reflexively, Owen stood up. Thanking the old couple once more, he bowed respectfully to Xander and took off.

The old Lady scoffed. "Look at him skipping like a child." Shifting her gaze to her husband, she said, "On one hand is a grandson who doesn’t know how to treat women right and on the other hand is a son who traps a woman in a marriage. What kind of generation of sons did we raise?"

"I think I will take my leave now." Xander cleared his throat and stood to his feet. He had wanted to spend more time with his parents but with the direction of the conversation, he thought it would be better to just stay away.

"Look at him running away," old Mrs. Scott observed, staring daggers at him.

Xander walked up to her, took her hands and kissed them. "I’m only going home to my wife, Mama," he smiled, then turned to his father to bid him goodbye.

"Bring your wife with you next time," old Mr. Scott instructed.

"I will, Papa," Xander replied and turned to leave.

When Xander returned home, he saw Aurora rolling her suitcase towards the stairs. Instantly, the corners of his lips turned downwards.

Aurora was surprised to see him standing at the bottom of the stairs watching her. She hadn’t noticed when he appeared. As she stood there frozen in shock, he took the stairs to meet her.

"Where do you think you are going with those bags?" Xander interrogated as soon as he cornered her.

"Of course, I’m leaving you!" She said, standing her ground, despite the fear in her eyes.

"Why?" He asked calmly, looking interested in her reasons.

Aurora went quiet for a moment before speaking, "You forgot to mention how dangerous you were."

Xander let out a deep throaty chuckle. "Sweetheart, you didn’t ask."

"I don’t care! I don’t want to be a part of this anymore! I want a divorce" She insisted, grabbing her suitcase.

Xander shook his head. "Too late. We are already married. You now belong to me, and divorce is out of the question. Don’t even think about leaving!"

"What?" Aurora stood there stunned, trying to process his statement along with that serious expression on his face. Suddenly, her gaze darkened as a thought came to her mind.

Just now, she realized why he took away her own copy of the marriage certificate booklet. It wasn’t just for safe-keeping as she had understood. He was hiding it from her as if he knew a day like today would come.

"You." She stared at him wide-eyed.

Xander stuffed his hand inside his pockets and said, "Do you know how long I have had my eyes on you for you to want to leave now?"

Instantly, the light in Aurora’s eyes dimmed. "The engagement party wasn’t the first time you saw me? You already knew who I was before then?" she asked, putting two and two together from his revelation.

Xander refused to answer that question, provoking her further.

"Are you a stalker too?"

"Don’t put me in the same likes as those psychopaths!" He said, brows furrowing and his gaze darkening.

"Well, you are one until proven ’not guilty’ by me!" She stated. "Is your best friend, Asher a criminal like you?"

A muscle flexed in Xander’s jaw as he balled his fists in his pockets. His gaze hardened. How dare she talk about his best friend like that?

Aurora and Xander exchanged heated glances with none refusing to yield to the other.

"Someone, come and take Madam’s things back inside and put them back in order!" Xander instructed before moving his gaze away from Aurora.

Immediately, two servants ran upstairs to take Aurora’s bags from her. And Xander glanced at her before turning go downstairs shrouded in anger.

"You haven’t answered my question. Where are you going?" Aurora quickly followed him down the stairs. No matter what she said to him, he continued ahead without a word.

Pissed at his actions, she stopped in her steps, seething in rage. How dare he order her around and trap her in a union she no longer wanted and then go on to ignore her?

The next moment, she removed one of her shoes and threw it at him. The shoe landed at his back before dropping to the rugged floor, prompting him to halt in his steps.

Xander slowly turned around, eyes on the shoe before slowly lifting his gaze to meet hers.

"How about I return the favour?"

"You are going to throw the shoe back at me?" Aurora asked in disbelief.

He watched her calmly, releasing his hands from his pockets. "You can throw a shoe at me but I can’t do the same?"

Chapter 28: Interrogation

Aurora thought Xander had completely lost his mind. But to her surprise, he picked up the shoe and walked towards her. Stopping in front of her, he stared at her for a moment before releasing a deep sigh.

"I have never dealt with a stubborn and challenging woman like you. You will be the death of me," he mumbled as he squatted in front of her and helped her foot into the shoe.

"I actually don’t mind you dying right now," Aurora said with malice laced in her tone as he straightened his back.

Xander chuckled lightly and touched the tip of her nose but she swatted his hand away as if it was a fly.

"Sweetheart, believe me, that I will be ready to atone for my sins with my death just for your sake, unfortunately, it won’t be enough to satisfy you, so I choose to live long instead."

Looking at that handsome man who would kill a human being without batting an eye, anger and hate swirled in Aurora’s chest. But too bad for Xander, his recent actions were not enough to distract her from her question, so she asked again.

"Was the engagement party the first time you saw me?"

Xander resumed his steps, letting out a deep sigh when she followed him. "No," he replied, but it wasn’t enough to get her off his back, so he could only allow her to follow him to his study.

He wasn’t even surprised when she pulled out a seat from across his desk and sat down without his permission. Seems like this was going to be a long ride.

"When and where was the first time you saw me?" Aurora interrogated.

"I thought I was your enemy?" Xander asked, sparing her a glance as he turned on his laptop.

Aurora leaned into the table with a dark gaze. "That doesn’t change anything! Also, stop trying to change the topic and answer the question."

"Well." Xander leaned back into his seat and started with his explanation. "I first saw you on the 7th of February; two months ago, on my visit to Wing City this year, a pure coincidence. My car was leaving the parking lot of the cultural museum when I saw you linking arms with Owen. I assume you were on a date."

Aurora didn’t even want to think about the fact that he remembered the exact date and the location where he first saw her. She didn’t want his image in her head to get worse, so she edged him on.

"I saw you again at the business conference I attended two days after I moved back to Wing City. That was when I discovered you were being cheated on," Xander revealed, finishing his story with a clap. "So, you see, I’m not a psychopath."

Aurora scoffed, thinking he was a big joker. "Only psychopaths will kill a human without batting an eye."

"I know you won’t understand, but you can’t blame me. I did what I had to do," he said, spreading his arms.

Nothing infuriated Aurora more like this attitude. He was so laid back, speaking casually like he only killed a bird and not a man.

What sort of monster did she throw herself to?

Aurora slapped her hand on her desk and said to him, "You didn’t have to kill those men even though my stepmother contracted them, My Dad already threatened her and asked her to get rid of them."

"And you think she would have listened to him?" Xander laughed at her innocence. She was completely oblivious to the harsh realities of life. "Sweetheart, listen to the bitter truth. If your stepmother truly listens to your father, she wouldn’t dare to mistreat you, at least not under his watch."

Aurora’s brows furrowed as the corners of her lips turned downwards. She was in total disagreement with that logic.

"Just in case you don’t know, my Dad is a busy man who doesn’t have the time to keep an eye on his wife all the time even though he is protective of me. Stella is a difficult woman to keep in check."

"What happened to divorcing her?" he asked, exuding calmness.

"I’m sure he would have done that if it was that easy," she said defensively.

Xander drummed his fingers on the desk as he thought of how to carry on this communication without hurting Aurora’s feelings. In the end, he sighed.

"Until you start keeping an open mind and accepting the truth for what it actually is without your emotions in the way, you will continue to be a pawn in the hands of others."

"Since you are talking about keeping an open mind and accepting the truth without letting my emotions get in the way, how about you tell me the reason you dragged those men inside your basement instead of handing them over to the police?"

Xander stopped drumming his fingers and leaned out from his seat as his gaze turned serious. "Like I told you yesterday, those men were criminals."

"What do you mean ’were’? You killed all of them?" Instantly, her gaze widened in shock as she watched him in horror.

She had been so down watching him kill one of them not knowing that he also got rid of the rest as soon as she turned her back.

"You monster!" She bellowed, standing from her seat.

Xander ignored her and continued, "I had to kill them because they had seen my face. Handing them to the police would have been useless. They would have been released the next day."

Meeting Aurora’s furious gaze, he added, "You must be so gullible to think your stepmother would let them live after they are arrested. She would have silenced them so they would never rat her out. So, they would have died either way."

"Xander, why is a common criminal seeing your face such a huge problem?" Aurora asked, squinting her eyes as she slowly sat back down after he let that information slip from his lips. "What kind of odd job are you involved in?"

Chapter 29: Avoiding Her All Night

Xander held Aurora’s gaze for a moment, slightly taken aback by her quick wit after he momentarily lost himself.

She was supposed to focus more on the murder he committed and not on him given her current erratic emotional state. But no, she chose to be smart this time.

Xander pressed a button on his desk and as soon as a red light showed, he leaned in. "Come in," he instructed and relaxed back into his seat.

"Sweetheart, we are done for today," he smiled at Aurora as he rubbed his hands together with a satisfactory smirk.

Aurora’s entire face was contorted in disbelief. "You’re seriously not going to confess the real job you’re hiding behind your disguise at DANTE Group?"

"I believe I have done a good job today, now, it’s time for my meeting," he replied.

Just then, a firm knock sounded on the door, prompting Aurora to snap her gaze behind her. The next moment, the door was pushed open with Liam leading five burly-looking men into the room. Almost immediately, the atmosphere in the room shifted.

Fear gripped Aurora as their huge figure loomed over. When she quickly turned her gaze back to Xander, he had stopped smiling. She took that as a cue to leave and no longer bothered him.

Aurora had dinner alone at night.

As much as she hated Xander’s presence, finding out who he was, was more important, so she didn’t mind dining with him. Unfortunately, he didn’t show up. Not even his shadow did. And she couldn’t ask the servants of his whereabouts otherwise what would that make her after the trauma he put her through?

Even when Aurora retired to the master bedroom for the night, she waited for Xander for over ten minutes, thinking he would show up before going to bed.

The next morning, Aurora freshened up and went down for breakfast only to see Xander already sitting in the head chair.

"Good morning, Princess," Xander greeted her warmly, and his gaze followed her until she took a seat at the other end of the table.

Aurora completely ignored him and cast her gaze on one of the servants waiting at the side and immediately, some of her favourite breakfast food was shifted to her corner.

"I see..." Xander drawled. "We are not on talking terms today."

Aurora bit into her strawberry jam-spread toasted bread and grabbed her glass of unsweetened milkshake without a care in the world. If anyone was sitting across from her, then it must be a ghost.

Aurora had no intention of acknowledging Xander today, not after he’d deliberately evaded her all night, dodging the question she’d demanded an answer to.

Xander accepted his fate and finished his food first. He wiped the corner of his lips with a napkin and got to his feet. Then he went straight to Aurora and leaned in for a kiss but as soon as he did that, she grabbed the knife from her plate and stabbed it on the table forcefully.

"Woah! Are you trying to kill your husband?" he asked, quickly stepping away.

Aurora cast a brief glance at the domestic secretary and said, "Nene, you know, my husband is dead and I would like to set up an altar to pray that he never reincarnates. Can you help me with that?"

Xander stared at Aurora dumbstruck. Did she just wish him death? Ultimately, he could only take his leave, saving Nene who was in a dilemma.

"Ma’am, a few arrangements have been made for your champagne launch. Please come with me to check them out," Nene said, guiding Aurora into one of the rooms downstairs as soon as breakfast was over.

Aurora was stunned stepping into a room with three racks of stunning dresses in one section, a makeup stand with expensive makeup and skincare products in another section and branded shoes and bags on the other side.

"What is all of this?" she asked, impressed by the setup.

"Mr. Scott prepared them as a pre-gift for your product launch on Tuesday. He wants you to look the best," Nene replied.

Instantly, Aurora’s eyes lost their shine. "I’m not interested. I have already made my own arrangements," she said, storming off.

If Xander thought he could get into her good books so easily, he was dreaming. And while it was true that she was kind and had a large heart, some boundaries shouldn’t be crossed.

First, he deceived her into marrying him. Secondly, he killed people in his basement. Thirdly, he refused to reveal his secret identity to her. Fourthly, he threatened to kill her best friend of over fifteen years and lastly, he confined her in his home and didn’t want to grant her a divorce.

Aurora had only one piece of advice for him after counting all his heart-wrecking atrocities; ’Quit trying, there is no hope for you’.

Some minutes later, Xander received word that Aurora rejected his gifts and wanted to leave the premises with only a handbag.

"Let her take Nene with her." Xander sighed. "Follow her from a good distance, but let her know I have my eyes on her."

---

Aurora opted to shop for herself, rather than accept Xander’s offerings. With Nene by her side - whose presence she didn’t mind - she entered a luxurious department store

Aurora sat in a private changing room with Nene and stared at the champagne-coloured gowns in the clothing racks brought for her before making her pick.

"I will try these two gowns." She pointed at the shoes lined up next to the rack and said, "Get me that gold platform and the pair of stilettos next to it."

Within five minutes, Aurora tried on her first pick and stepped out from behind the curtains.

"Nene, what do you think?" she asked, fixing her gaze on her.

"The gown is beautiful, but I think the glitters are too dazzling," Nene said, taking in her looks. "It hides your aura."

"I will try on the other dress," Aurora said and hurried back behind the curtains. As soon as she drew the curtains close, a soft knock sounded on the door and one of the staff in the room went to open it.

"I’ll try the other dress," Aurora said, disappearing behind the curtains. As the soft fabric rustled shut, a discreet knock sounded, and one of the staff members moved to open the door.

Nene sprang to her feet, bowing respectfully as Xander entered the room. With a raised finger to his lips, he silenced the space, and Nene let out a quiet sigh of relief.

The staff instinctively grasped the unspoken signal and swiftly exited, leaving them behind plus Aurora who was changing behind the curtains.

With hands tucked into his pockets, Xander scanned the space, his eyes settling on the opulent curtains, and immediately, he strode toward them without asking questions.

Chapter 30: Xander Reveals His Secret identity

Aurora’s heart skipped a beat as the curtains swung open unexpectedly, revealing Xander’s reflection in the mirror. She swiftly yanked the dress back up, concealing her exposed chest and turned to face him.

"What the hell are you doing here?" She asked, eyes growing wide in sheer surprise mixed with annoyance. She was aware he sent people to watch her, but she didn’t expect him to show up.

A smirk turned up at the corner of Xander’s lips as his eyes raked her body. Ignoring her question, he said, "I have seen every inch of your body. No need to be shy."

"Well, I haven’t seen every inch of yours, so get out right now!" Aurora ordered, pointing a finger past his shoulder.

"Okay." He raised his hands in surrender and turned to leave. Suddenly, he turned back around again. "This dress isn’t as beautiful as the ones I got you. You should at least check them out once before rejecting them!"

"Get. The. Hell. Out. Xander!" This time around, Aurora’s voice was filled with rage, prompting him to leave.

’This one has got such a bad temper,’ Xander said to himself as he went to take the couch in the room.

Seeing him step out, Nene didn’t dare to sit. She was a little concerned, hoping Aurora wouldn’t blame her for his presence as she had nothing to do with it. Thankfully, Aurora already knew a bit about him; no one could stop him from getting what he wanted.

Aurora picked the dress and the pair of shoes she wanted before going to the check-out counter to pay for them after they were packaged. But as she reached for her purse to take out her card, Xander appeared and passed his American Express Black Card.

"I will pay for the lady here."

As soon as the staff from the counter saw his card, she smiled and took it, swiping it on the machine before Aurora could speak.

Aurora stormed off angrily, leaving Nene to get the bags. Xander took back his card and quickly caught up with her as soon as she stepped outside the mall.

"Why are you mad that I paid for your items?" He asked, grabbing her hand lightly. She immediately flung his hand away.

"Are you crazy today?" she asked, barely unable to hold back her anger in public. "What if a rumour about us starts especially with you accompanying me to shop and paying for the items?"

"Let the rumours start flying, that will be even better," he declared.

Aurora watched him in disbelief, thinking that he had completely lost his mind.

Just then, Xander’s car pulled over in front of them as Nene stepped out of the mall. Xander opened the back passenger door and held it as he stepped aside. "Get in," he said with his gaze on Aurora.

"I don’t get into cars of people who kill," Aurora stated with finality in her tone.

Xander said without blinking, "If you don’t get in, I will kiss you right here."

Instantly, Aurora’s gaze darkened. Before, she had been annoyed with him but now, she was mad.

"Xander, I already hate you as it is, so don’t deepen the emotions by threatening me."

A deep sigh escaped Xander’s lips as his shoulders relaxed. "Didn’t you ask me what I was doing here? I have something important to talk about, so ride with me."

Aurora felt 1% better after he explained things and got into his car. She didn’t know where he learned this bad habit of threatening people just to get what he wanted instead of speaking like a civil citizen.

As soon as the car joined the major road, Xander dug through the inner pocket of his jacket and took out a special silver crest badge. Instantly, Aurora became interested, so he passed it to her to take a proper look.

The entire situation changed as soon as Aurora recognized the mythical creature crafted on the silver crest. It was the liver bird bearing a branch of laver seaweed in its beak; a symbol of Wing City.

"Can I get your word that what I’m about to disclose stays between us and won’t get into another ear, even your best friend’s?" he asked, his gaze turning serious.

"You have my word." Aurora nodded, knowing he was about to reveal his secret identity which she was now sure had nothing to do with any criminal organization after seeing the crest.

"For your safety, I won’t give detailed information," Xander said to her and resumed his revelation. "I am a part of a secret service agent created by our country’s government."

Aurora’s eyes almost shot to the back of her head. "You work for the government?"

"Yes. And that is the reason I have the right to eliminate a certain group of criminals," he said, emphasizing the reason he killed those men tailing her.

Aurora; "What is the role of your secret agency?"

Xander; "We eliminate the criminal and terrorist group threatening the peace of Wing City and beyond. A big name in our country is involved, and we are yet to fish them out."

Aurora; "Is your best friend Asher also involved?"

Xander; "Yes."

Aurora; "When were you both recruited and how long have you two been working for the agency?"

Xander; "Asher and I were selected during our mandatory military service. We were taken to Russia for three years to receive hard-core training before joining the agency formally. It’s been ten years now since we were formally recruited.

Aurora; "Let me guess, your family doesn’t know about this."

Xander; "They don’t."

Aurora flipped the crest half the size of her palm and saw ’Arsenal’ carved on it. She shifted her gaze back to him and asked, "Arsenal is the name of your secret service agency?"

As soon as she asked that question, he snatched the crest from her and stuffed it back into his pocket. "Don’t ever let that name slip from your tongue, even by mistake. Do you understand?" he warned.

"Okay," she complied, a little surprised by his reaction.

Xander didn’t mind answering Aurora’s questions as long as she didn’t dive into classified information.
