Ch. 341..344: Trapped in a Secret Marriage with a Dangerous Billionaire Chapter 341-344 [Finale]

Chapter 341: Fighting for Their Life

Dimitri hesitated, clearly realizing he had been a pawn in something much bigger than he had anticipated. But he was smart enough to know when to retreat. He muttered a curse under his breath before slipping out of the room.

Xander slowly raised his hands, his mind racing. They were outnumbered and heavily at a disadvantage, and Viktor had the upper hand.

"Smart move," Viktor praised, motioning toward the guards. "Now, why don’t we—"

Bang!

A gunshot rang out.

Before anyone could react, Asher had already drawn his concealed firearm and shot the nearest guard straight in the head.

Chaos erupted.

Xander moved in a blur, flipping the table over as bullets rained in their direction. He grabbed the gun off the dead guard and fired three shots in rapid succession, taking down two more men before rolling behind cover.

"Get them!" Viktor roared, diving for safety as his remaining men regrouped.

Asher crouched behind an overturned chair, his eyes flashing with adrenaline. "I’d say we’re officially screwed."

Xander popped out of cover and took another shot, forcing their attackers to duck. "We’re not dead yet."

More footsteps thundered from the hallway. Reinforcements were coming.

They needed an exit—fast.

Xander’s eyes darted around the room. There—a ventilation shaft near the ceiling. It was their only chance.

"Asher!" he called, pointing.

Asher followed his gaze and cursed under his breath. "You’ve got to be kidding me."

"Move!" Xander ordered, covering him as he sprinted toward the wall.

Asher leaped onto a side cabinet and reached for the vent, prying it open with brute force. Meanwhile, Xander grabbed a glass bottle from the floor and hurled it toward the overhead light. The room plunged into near darkness.

Gunfire erupted blindly.

Taking advantage of the confusion, Xander sprinted toward the vent just as Asher climbed inside. He hoisted himself up, narrowly avoiding a bullet that grazed his arm.

Viktor’s furious voice echoed through the chaos. "Don’t let them escape!"

But it was too late.

Xander and Asher disappeared into the vents.

Their mission had failed.

And now, every criminal in the Octavia Empire would be hunting them down.

---

Xander and Asher moved swiftly through the narrow ventilation shaft, their breathing controlled despite the chaos behind them. Gunfire echoed from below as Viktor’s men stormed through the club, searching for them.

Asher exhaled sharply. "That could’ve gone better."

Xander kept moving, ignoring the pain in his arm where the bullet had grazed him. "Less talking. Keep moving."

They reached the end of the shaft. Below them was a dimly lit storage room filled with crates of liquor and weapons. Xander kicked the vent cover open, landing smoothly on his feet while Asher followed.

Footsteps thundered above them.

"They’re in the building!" someone shouted.

Asher grabbed a loaded rifle from one of the crates and tossed Xander a spare pistol. "We need an exit."

Xander’s sharp eyes scanned the area. "The back door."

They moved quickly, weaving between crates, their weapons drawn. The door was just ahead—

Bang!

The door burst open, and armed men flooded inside.

"Down!" Xander barked, diving behind cover as bullets tore through the air.

Asher returned fire, taking out two of them with precision shots. Xander moved swiftly, dropping another before the remaining men scrambled for cover.

"This way!" Xander called, sprinting toward the emergency exit.

Asher followed, but more men appeared at the hallway entrance, blocking their path.

Xander didn’t hesitate—he grabbed a flashbang from a crate, yanked the pin, and threw it.

Boom!

The room exploded in white light. Their enemies stumbled, blinded.

Xander and Asher didn’t waste a second. They crashed through the emergency exit and into a dark alley.

The city was alive.

Neon lights flickered. Music pulsed from nearby clubs. People laughed, completely unaware that two highly trained operatives were being hunted.

"Split up," Xander ordered. "Meet at the safe house in thirty minutes."

Asher nodded. "Don’t get killed."

Xander smirked. "Same to you."

Then they disappeared into the night.

---

Xander arrived first.

The abandoned warehouse served as their base in Octavia. Arsenal had secured it weeks ago, but now, with their cover blown, it was no longer safe.

Minutes later, Asher slipped inside, breathing heavily. "That was fun."

Xander didn’t respond. He was already checking the security cameras. More men were coming.

Asher saw the footage and swore. "They’re fast."

Xander grabbed his phone and made a quick call to Arsenal’s headquarters. "Mission compromised. Extraction needed immediately."

A deep voice responded, "Understood. ETA—forty-five minutes."

They didn’t have forty-five minutes.

Xander turned to Asher. "We need to hold them off."

Asher smirked, reloading his gun. "Let’s make them regret finding us."

The hunt wasn’t over. It was just beginning.

The first bullet shattered the window.

Xander and Asher ducked as gunfire rained into the warehouse, sparks flying from the metal walls. The Reagent family’s men had arrived faster than expected.

"They’re surrounding us," Asher muttered, reloading his rifle.

Xander peeked through the scope of his gun. Black SUVs blocked the street outside, and at least a dozen men were moving in.

"We hold until extraction," Xander said, voice steady.

The door burst open. Three men rushed in.

Xander fired—one down.

Asher dropped the second with a headshot.

The third barely had time to react before Xander sent a bullet through his chest.

More footsteps. More gunfire.

"Upstairs!" Xander barked.

They sprinted up the metal stairs to the second floor. The high ground gave them a better vantage, but the enemy kept coming.

Bang!

A sniper round tore through the railing beside Asher’s head.

"Sniper on the rooftop!" he cursed, diving for cover.

Xander didn’t hesitate. He aimed at the opposite building and fired. The sniper crumpled.

More men breached the lower level. The air was thick with smoke and gunpowder.

"Extraction team, where the hell are you?" Xander growled into his earpiece.

"Two minutes out," the response came.

They didn’t have two minutes.

A grenade rolled onto the floor beside them.

Boom!

The explosion sent both men flying. Xander hit the ground hard, his vision blurring. His ears rang.

Through the smoke, he saw Asher struggle to his feet, blood dripping down his arm. Then the pain came.

A bullet tore through Xander’s side. He gasped, dropping to one knee, gripping his wound.

"Xander!" Asher shouted.

Xander forced himself up, staggering as more men closed in.

The helicopter’s spotlight cut through the darkness. The extraction team had arrived.

A rope dropped. Asher grabbed Xander, half-dragging him toward it.

Bullets chased them. Asher covered them as Xander gritted his teeth and grabbed the rope, his body screaming in pain.

Asher followed. Just as they were lifted into the air—

Boom!

An RPG slammed into the helicopter.

Everything went black.

Chapter 342: No News. No Hope. Then Breakthrough.

~Wing City~

Two Days Later...

Since the time Aurora visited the old couple at their private residence after finding out she was having twins, she had become a frequent visitor, even staying up to a week straight at one point.

With everyone at her beck and call, she had nothing to stress about except for her workload at Vintage Cellar.

But on this very Friday, she took a day off to rest her back.

Aurora was in the sitting room chatting with the old couple about the different types of grapes used in making wines and champagnes when the butlery walked in hurriedly to inform them of the military convoy that just arrived.

"Major walker has requested to meet you both. He says it’s important," the butler finished.

A subtle frown appeared on Aurora’s forehead as she wondered what the Major was doing here. She didn’t want to think it had anything to do with claiming her as his daughter. It had better not be.

"Let him through," Old Mr. Scott approved and almost immediately, the butler turned and left.

Aurora stood in the living room, her fingers clenched tightly over her baby bump as Major Walker stepped inside, his expression grim. But as soon as he saw her, a glint of surprise flashed across his eyes.

Old Mr. Scott rose to his feet and shook hands with him, welcoming him in before gesturing for him to sit.

"What is it?" The old man asked as his wife rested her arms on her belly.

The Major hesitated before starting, "I’m sure your son Alexandar has never told you this, but he is a part of Wing City’s government secret..."

Major Walker started by telling the old couple everything they didn’t know about Xander’s involvement in their government’s secret service mission, from his training days and up to this moment, much to their horror.

The old couple were shocked to learn their son hadn’t gone on a business trip like he had told them, but rather had embarked on a life-threatening mission.

Major Walker allowed the old couple to assimilate the news first before continuing and delivering the bomb.

"... There was an ambush. Xander and his best friend, Asher’s aircraft was bombed mid-flight."

Aurora’s heart stopped immediately as her gaze widened. She believed she heard wrong.

The room fell into stunned silence.

The Major swallowed. "Search teams have been deployed, but... there’s been no sign of survivors."

Aurora’s knees finally buckled. Luckily, Nene was right beside her, and managed to catch her just in time before helping her to sit on the couch.

The Major’s next words barely registered in their heads.

"Alexander Scott is missing in action."

Aurora sat frozen. The words echoed in her mind.

’No. No, this wasn’t real.’

Old Mrs. Scott gasped, clutching her husband’s arm. Old Mr. Scott paled. The entire room seemed to hold its breath.

Aurora’s lips trembled. "You... you’re saying there’s no sign of him?" Her heart was racing hard in her chest.

Major Walker hesitated. "The crash site was engulfed in flames. No bodies have been recovered. Yet."

Aurora’s nails dug into her palms. "Then he’s alive."

Major Walker sighed. Seeing Aurora’s condition, he couldn’t bring himself to counter her statement or make the situation any worse.

On the other hand, old Mr. Scott nodded firmly. "We will not assume my son is dead unless there is proof."

Major Walker exchanged glances with his officers. "We will continue the search, but the odds..." He didn’t finish.

Aurora’s breath hitched. The baby kicked inside her. She gritted her teeth. "Find him!"

At that moment, she didn’t care about her tone or her manners. She wanted her husband found.

The Major briefly glanced at her before turning his gaze to Old Mr. Scott. He bowed his head. "We’re doing everything we can."

Then, he turned to leave with his soldiers.

The moment the door closed Aurora’s vision blurred with tears.

"He promised me he would come back," she whispered.

Nene knelt beside her, squeezing her hand. "He will. Sir always keeps his word." No matter how devastated Nene was about the news, she had to be strong for Aurora.

Aurora shut her eyes, but the sinking weight in her chest wouldn’t leave.

’Xander, wherever you are... come back to me. And our babies.’

***

Days passed. And there was no news. No bodies. No hope.

Aurora refused to eat. Refused to sleep. She spent every waking moment glued to her phone, waiting for a call that never came.

The Scott family mansion felt hollow. Silent.

Old Mr. Scott had called in every connection, using all resources to search for Xander and Asher. But the answer remained the same.

Missing. Presumed dead.

Aurora clenched her fists as another report came in—negative. She stood abruptly. "I’m going to Arsenal’s headquarters."

Nene paled. "Ma’am, you’re seven months pregnant."

Aurora’s eyes burned with resolve. "I don’t care. If they won’t find my husband, I will."

Old Mrs. Scott grabbed her hand. "You are carrying his children. You must be strong."

Aurora’s breath hitched. The old lady was right. She had to be strong for Xander and their babies. Still, she couldn’t help thinking about Abigail.

Her best friend was still in the dark about this menacing situation yet, she couldn’t bring herself to say anything to her.

---

Finally, a breakthrough came two days later.

Arsenal received an emergency distress signal—coordinates matching the crash site. A rescue team was deployed immediately.

At the other end, Aurora clutched her phone, heart pounding as she waited for news. Then, the call came.

"They found survivors."

Aurora’s vision blurred. "What about my husband, Xander Scott?"

There was a pause from the other end before the voice reached her ears again.

"He is amongst the survivors. But he’s in critical condition."

Aurora stifled a cry as Nene sat beside her, her composure completely lost.

"Where is he?" Aurora demanded shortly after recovering.

"Being airlifted to Arsenal’s private medical facility."

Aurora ended the call and turned to Nene almost immediately. "Take me there," she ordered.

"But Ma’am—"

"I said take me there!"

Within minutes, the entire Scott family was informed of the good news and were immediately en route.

---

At Arsenal’s Medical Base—

Xander lay unconscious, hooked to machines. Asher, with a broken arm and leg, sat beside him, looking rough but awake.

Aurora rushed in, tears spilling over as she took in Xander’s still form.

"Darling," she whispered, clutching his hand. "Wake up. Please," she said, but no response came.

The doctor came in at this moment along with the old couple and Owen’s parents.

"He’s in a deep coma. We don’t know when he will wake up," the doctor informed.

"He has to," Aurora interrupted, voice shaking. Then she leaned in, pressing a soft kiss to his forehead.

"You promised me forever," she murmured. "So don’t you dare break that promise."

After giving Aurora her moment, Xander’s parents stepped forward to get a close look at him and also speak to him.

Chapter 343: Good News at Long Last

The steady beep of the heart monitor was the only sound in the hospital room. Xander lay motionless, his face pale, his body still recovering from the gunshot wound and the trauma of the explosion.

Days had passed, but there was no change. No sign of him waking up.

Aurora sat beside him, her hands gently wrapped around his. Dark circles framed her eyes from exhaustion, but she refused to leave his side.

"Talk to him," the doctor had suggested earlier. "Sometimes, they hear us even when they’re unconscious."

So, she did.

She told him about their home, about how empty their bed felt without him. She told him about their babies.

"Xander, we’re having twins."

The doctor’s words echoed in her mind as she stroked his hand, her voice soft but laced with emotion.

"You should see your parents. They were so happy when they found out. And Abigail? She nearly screamed when she heard." A small chuckle escaped her lips, though it was short-lived. "You should have been there."

Her voice cracked at the last sentence.

Still, there was no movement. No response.

A tear slipped down her cheek, landing on the back of his hand.

"Do you hear me at all?" she whispered. "Or are you going to leave me all alone?"

She gripped his fingers tighter. "I need you to wake up, Xander. Not for me. For them." Her other hand went to her belly. "They need their father. I need you."

The ache in Aurora’s chest intensified. Every passing hour felt like an eternity. The thought of raising their children without him, of losing him forever, made her stomach twist in fear.

Then suddenly, the door opened. Thinking it was the doctor, Aurora wiped her tears and turned around, only to see Asher and Abigail walk in.

Immediately, she guessed Asher might have told Abigail everything they had been keeping from her. Aurora didn’t know how to react.

"Aura," Abigail rushed to Aurora’s side and enveloped her with a tight, warm hug. "You didn’t have to go through everything alone."

A soft whimper escaped Aurora’s lips. She had a lot of things she wanted to say, but she couldn’t bring herself to do that because the second she opened her mouth, more tears would gush from her eyes.

Abigail understood Aurora’s plight and didn’t force her. Instead, she held her close in her embrace and kissed the top of her head while trying not to shed any tears as well.

She had come here to be a pillar of support for her best friend and not to be emotional.

Asher watched the two best friends for a moment before quietly leaving the room, giving them the private moment they needed.

Several minutes later, Aurora was calmer now, so Asher came back into the room.

"Aurora, don’t worry too much so the babies don’t feel weary. I know Xander. He will wake up soon," Asher placed a hand on Aurora’s shoulder encouragingly.

"Thank you," she managed a small smile, grateful for his support.

***

Aurora’s cries of pain echoed through the private hospital room. Beads of sweat formed on her forehead as she gripped Abigail’s hand tightly, her nails digging into her palm.

She had been in labour for hours now, and the contractions were getting stronger by the minute.

Doctors and nurses moved swiftly around her, monitoring her vitals and preparing for delivery. But through all the chaos, there was only one thought in Aurora’s mind.

Xander.

Where was he? Was he still unconscious? She had dreamed of this moment differently—him by her side, holding her hand, whispering words of encouragement. But now, he wasn’t here.

Tears welled up in her eyes as another contraction hit.

"Ma’am, you have to breathe," a nurse urged gently.

Aurora was exhausted. Her body felt weak, her limbs numb, and her vision blurred from the pain.

"I... I can’t do this," she panted, shaking her head. She was too exhausted, too broken to continue fighting.

"Yes, you can, Aura," Abigail whispered, her voice firm but soft as tears clouded her eyes. "You are Aurora Swift, the strongest woman I know. You’ve come this far despite the hurdles and struggles. Just a little more."

The doctor smiled. "Mrs. Scott, it’s time. On the next contraction, I need you to push."

Aurora took a deep breath. She thought of Xander and her babies, who were finally ready to come into this world.

’I can do this,’ she encouraged herself.

With one final push, a loud cry filled the room.

"The first baby is out!" the doctor announced.

A few seconds later, another cry followed.

"And here comes the second one!"

Aurora burst into tears, overwhelmed with relief and joy. Abigail’s vision blurred as he watched the doctors clean and wrap the babies.

"Congratulations, Mrs. Scott. You have a beautiful baby boy... and a gorgeous baby girl."

Aurora gasped, barely able to process the words. A boy and a girl.

"You did it, Aura," Abigail squeezed her hand gently. "I’m so proud of you girl. So proud of you."

Aurora nodded as tears of joy streamed down her eyes. She did it for Xander and their children.

---

Outside the room, the Scott old couple were overjoyed to learn of the birth of the twins; likewise, Stephanie and Olivia, who waited with them outside the delivery room until this point.

"This is good news for both families," Stephanie said, her eyes glistening with tears. Her niece had spent hours in labour pains before pushing forth her children.

Though it wasn’t an easy fit, it was a thing of joy.

"Thank Goodness!" Olivia heaved a sigh of relief as she finally sat down on the padded bench. "Now, I can finally catch some sleep," she mumbled tiredly to herself.

---

At the same time, in one of the private rooms at Arsenal’s Medical Base, Asher sat next to Xander’s bed, recounting the early years of their military training and how Viktor from the Reagent family had been caught after the US armies were deployed for assistance.

Then suddenly, Xander’s middle finger twitched.

Instantly, Asher stopped talking as the smile on his face vanished. "Xander?"

There was another twitch. This time, Xander’s fingers curled ever so slightly. Then, a soft, weak groan escaped his lips.

Asher gasped, sitting up straighter, his heart racing as he grabbed his right hand. "Xander! Can you hear me?"

Xander’s eyelids fluttered. Then, slowly, they opened.

At first, his gaze was unfocused, disoriented. His lips parted slightly as if trying to form words. Then, finally, his gaze met Asher’s.

"Aurora..." His voice was hoarse, barely above a whisper.

Chapter 344: The Face Behind Tea Time Gossip Blog

Several Months Later...

Aurora stood in the kitchen, whisking the twins’ cereal with firm determination. The transition from breastfeeding had been a nightmare. Chloe and Zoe had already started walking—surely, they were old enough to let go of her.

Or so she thought.

"Mummy," Chloe babbled, her tiny hands clutching at Aurora’s legs as she tried to pull herself up.

Aurora groaned. "This girl, leave me alone. Go to your brother."

Chloe ignored her and instead latched onto her leg, resting her cheek against it like a stubborn little koala.

With a sigh, Aurora finished preparing their cereal and turned around. She picked Chloe up and placed her in her high chair, strapping her in.

The instant she did, Chloe’s face crumpled, and she let out a loud wail.

Aurora closed her eyes, muttering a prayer for patience.

Turning to Zoe, who was sitting on the floor, happily smacking a spoon against the tiles, she sighed again. "At least one of you is behaving."

She lifted him, and Zoe giggled, his chubby hands grabbing at her hair.

"That’s my boy," she praised, placing him in his high chair.

Just then, Nene entered with their water bottles, placing them next to their plates. "Ma’am, everything is set."

Aurora nodded and placed the twins’ bowls in front of them. "Alright, eat up."

Zoe looked at his food, then at Aurora. "Milk," he said, pointing at her chest.

Aurora’s jaw clenched. "No, Zoe. Eat first."

Zoe shook his head. "Milk."

Aurora exhaled through her nose. "Zoe, you have teeth now. Do you know how painful it is when you—"

Before she could finish, Chloe stretched out her arms towards her. "Mama..." she whimpered.

"Eat first, then I will give you milk," Aurora bargained.

Chloe’s lips trembled. Then, without warning, she smacked her milk bottle off the table, sending it crashing to the floor.

Nene gasped. Aurora’s eye twitched. Then Chloe stopped crying immediately.

Zoe turned to her, blinking in confusion. Then, as if realizing that crying meant getting what he wanted, he joined in.

Aurora pressed her fingers to her temples. I need a vacation.

Nene, suppressing a chuckle, knelt to clean the mess. "Ma’am, maybe you should just breastfeed them."

"I refuse," Aurora declared. "They need to let me go."

At that moment, Xander walked into the kitchen, his deep frown making his disapproval clear. The cries of his children only made it worse.

"Sweetheart, what’s going on?"

Aurora pointed at the twins. "Your kids are terrorists."

Zoe and Chloe turned their tearful eyes to their father, their cries growing louder as they stretched their hands towards him.

Xander sighed and lifted them effortlessly, balancing each in one arm. Their cries softened instantly, but their sniffles continued.

Aurora folded her arms. "They don’t want to eat. They just want to suckle."

Xander stared at her like it wasn’t a big deal. "Then give them what they want."

"They bite me when I do that."

Xander’s lips parted, but before he could speak, Aurora added, "Or did you forget how sore they were last night when you—"

Nene spun around, biting her lip to stop herself from laughing.

Xander cleared his throat, avoiding her gaze. "We will... negotiate... some other time."

Zoe and Chloe sniffled as if sensing betrayal.

Xander turned to Nene. "Bring their breakfast to the living room. Asher’s here. He will help me feed them."

Chloe and Zoe instantly started wailing again.

Xander sighed, pressing a kiss to their foreheads. "Shh. Daddy will fix this."

As he left, Aurora slumped into a chair. "I am so done."

After Nene left with the bowls of cereal, Aurora’s phone rang. She grabbed it from the counter and saw Abigail’s name. Swiping to answer, she placed the phone on speaker.

"Tell me you have a solution for twin weaning," Aurora said immediately.

Abigail laughed. "I take it the little angels are giving you a hard time?"

Aurora scoffed. "They’re trying to take over their father’s entire property. My body included."

Abigail chuckled. "As much as I love them, I agree. They need to start paying rent."

Aurora shook her head, smiling. "Xander deserves this. Now he can’t touch me until my nipples heal." At least their father is not left out on the misery.

Abigail burst into laughter. "Serves him right."

Changing the subject, Abigail reminded her about their appointment to shop for the twins’ first birthday party.

"I remember," Aurora said. "I will meet you at 1 PM."

"Good. I just need to escort my mother to buy some cookware; then I will be there."

Before ending the call, Aurora casually mentioned, "Oh, by the way, Asher’s here, helping Xander feed the twins."

Abigail grinned. "Good. He needs the practice for when we have our own kids."

---

Dressed in a chic jumpsuit, Abigail slipped her phone into her bag and called out, "Mom, are you ready?"

No answer.

Curious, she walked into her mother’s room only to see her laptop open on the bed.

She reached for it, intending to close it, but a document on the screen caught her eye.

The words made her heart stop.
