Chapter 1251 Exposing The Streamer

What was displayed was nothing but some scandalous information about the streamer.

Initially, the fans who were supporting this streamer, upon seeing these negative revelations, such as the streamer being a playboy, looking down on fans, privately insulting fans in videos, and so on, the fans collectively turned against him.

People began to criticize this streamer, which could be seen as instant karma.

The streamer witnessed everything unfold by using an alternate account. He hastily commented below, trying to explain everything. However, it was all too late. Nothing he said could change what had happened.

Half an hour later, all of his scandals were exposed.

If it hadn’t been for the teacher coming over to advise Jonathan to cut down on his computer usage, the streamer would have lost his shorts.

At long last, he was finally able to log into his main account. However, what greeted him was a barrage of insults and reports from his once–loyal fans.

In less than three minutes, the girlfriend he was secretly dating, who was also a fan of his, sought him out to break up. She then started exposing him.

At that moment, he realized he had offended someone.

When he tried to contact his boss, his account was immediately blocked.

After the boss found out, he was even more harsh. “How could you be this kind of person behind the scenes? You’ve played around and lost a million–fan account. Brace yourself for the company’s lawyer’s letter.”

The streamer who spread the rumors was completely floored, filled with regret for his past actions.

When this person got into trouble, it still didn’t serve as a wake–up call for other streamers who were striving for popularity and fame and to please their superiors.

Jonathan had little patience as he sat through the preschool teacher’s singing and dancing. He was relieved when it was finally time to leave school.

Vivian then came over to pick him up.

“Ms. Kennedy, have you seen the news online?” He asked.

After hearing this, Vivian was visibly upset. “How could I have not? These people are way out of line.”

Jonathan pulled out his laptop and took a look. The public opinion hadn’t died down yet, but the streamer he had previously dealt with had already deactivated his account. “All these are just rumors. I plan to let Elí clarify things. You need to help him tonight.”

“All right.”

Vivian readily agreed. At this point, she didn’t treat Jonathan as a child anymore, especially when it came

“However, how am I supposed to help him?” she asked.

“Just keep an eye out for any haters, note down their IP addresses, and let me know.”

In private, Jonathan had cultivated a large group of computer experts who would later take charge of the situation.

Online haters would always need someone to keep them in check. Otherwise, they might think they could say whatever they wanted.

“No problem.”

After returning, Vivian immediately began making preparations.

Cecilia was also nearly done with her tasks, and she took Charlotte with her to the agreed restaurant to meet with Eric.

Eric was already waiting in the private room early on.

Fearing unwanted attention and potential disputes from the paparazzi, Cecilia decided to book the entire restaurant.

“Eric!”

Charlotte was walking ahead of Cecilia, and upon seeing Eric, she quickly greeted him.

Eric had assumed that only Cecilia would show up that day, so the unexpected presence of Charlotte cast a shadow of disappointment in his eyes.

However, he still greeted her with a smile, “Charlotte, it’s been a while.”

After he finished speaking, his gaze shifted past Charlotte to the figure behind her. It didn’t take long for him to notice Cecilia.

A noticeable bulge was visible on Cecilia’s belly, and she had gained a little weight overall, giving her a fuller appearance.

“Eric.”

“Ms. Cecille, you’re finally here. Be careful. Come and sit down.”

Eric bypassed Charlotte, moving toward Cecilia, ready to lend her a hand.

Cecilia was carrying twins, making her belly slightly larger than that of an average pregnant woman. Yet, she still managed to move around with relative grace.

Chapter 1252 Finding A Wife

“No need. Thank you.”

Cecilia declined the support offered by Eric.

Charlotte looked this way, unable to hold back her surprise. “Mr. Palmer, there are already rumors online about you having a relationship with my boss. Don’t put my boss in a tough spot, will you?”

As she spoke, she simultaneously prepared a soft pillow for Cecilia.

With a smile, Cecilia strolled over and took a seat. “Stop making fun of Eriç. We all know that those rumors were spread by people with ill intentions.”

“Absolutely,” Charlotte replied immediately.

A certain unease brewed within Eric’s heart after he heard Cecilia’s words.

It turned out that, from Cecilia’s perspective, there really wasn’t much of a connection between the two of them.

“Eric, you should also sit down and order something,” Cecilia suggested, oblivious to his peculiar -demeanor.

“All right.”

The trio went on to order some dishes.

Before the food had even arrived, Charlotte couldn’t help but ask Eric, “Eric, do you have a girlfriend? Do you have a secret relationship? Are you in a secret marriage?”

Eric was taken aback. “Why are you suddenly asking this?”

“Is it just a question, or is it inconvenient for you to answer?” Charlotte asked, puzzled.

After hearing that, Eric turned to look at Cecilia. “Why would there be any inconvenience? You know my situation, don’t you, Ms. Cecille? I’ve been in Alendor shooting commercials recently. I don’t have the time for a secret relationship, let alone a marriage.”

Charlotte’s spirits clearly fell after she heard that response. “I see.”

“What’s the matter?” Eric was confused.

“Well, haven’t the online news been spreading rumors about you and our boss?” Charlotte didn’t bother with formalities with Eric. “If you have a lover or a wife, maybe you could make it public. That way, people wouldn’t misunderstand.”

It was important to note that Eric’s rise to fame was largely thanks to Cecilia.

From Charlotte’s perspective, it was only right for Eric to lend a hand to Cecilia, who was in need of help at the time.

At first, Eric thought it was Cecilia who had Charlotte inquire about her love life. He never expected this situation.

He couldn’t quite put his finger on what he was feeling, but he said, “Or should I, perhaps, fabricate one?”

Upon hearing that, Cecilia immediately said, “Don’t. If you don’t have a lover, don’t bother doing that. We’ll think of another way.”

Originally, there wasn’t much of a connection between them, so Cecilia didn’t feel there was anything to fear. After all, a clear conscience feared no accusation.

Charlotte also said, “Boss is right. If you fabricate one and someone finds dirt on you, you’ll only end making things worse by explaining.”

That day, Eric initially wanted to discuss recent events with Cecilia, but unexpectedly, they ended up talking about how to handle online public opinion.

He understood that there wasn’t much affection for him in Cecilia’s heart.

After finishing the meal, he watched as Cecilia and Charlotte left. He then turned around and got into his own car.

As the driver drove him home, he couldn’t help but ask, “Mr. Eric, were you on a date with a girl today?”

The driver was a long–time member of the family, much like a relative.

After some thought, Eric replied, “Yes. You could say that.”

The driver’s eyes lit up. “You better hurry and tell Mr. and Mrs. Palmer. They’ve been eagerly waiting for you to find a girlfriend for quite some time now.”

Just like any other parents, Eric’s parents were always nudging him to get married. They hoped their son would soon find a wife and bless them with a few chubby grandchildren.

“We’ll see how it goes,” murmured Eric.

When Cecilia arrived home, Elliot immediately called her over and said, “Mommy, why are you only here now? Hurry! Join me for the livestream.”

“Huh? Why do you suddenly want me to join your livestream?” Cecilia was somewhat confused.

All along, Elliot, Jonathan, and Vivian had been the ones managing the account. Cecilia had always shown respect for their personal interests.

“Mommy, could you come here, please?” Elliot pleaded.

Feeling helpless, Cecilia had no choice but to approach Elliot.

However, the camera only managed to capture the lower half of her body, leaving the audience on the other side of the live broadcast.

Chapter 1253 Making It Public

Everyone asked in the comments section: Is this Jon’s mommy?

Elliot settled back in front of the screen and enunciated, “Hello, everyone. Today, I want to formally introduce my mommy and daddy to you all.”

The women who had always been particularly fond of Elliot were somewhat expectant.

Cecilia was pulled forward to greet everyone, “Hell, everyone. I am J–Jon’s mommy.”

The fans had all assumed that Elliot was Jonathan. The two were identical twins, and given their striking resemblance, no further explanation was offered to the fans.

Among the fans, some with sharp eyes instantly recognized Cecilia.

One wrote: Isn’t this Cecilia Smith, Nathaniel’s wife? No… It’s his ex–wife.

Huh? Is she Jon’s mother? However, Jon clearly doesn’t look mixed–race.

Wasn’t it said that Cecilia had a child with a foreigner? They don’t seem to resemble each other at all.

Everyone was feasting on the information of the prominent families that day. The fans in the live room were taken aback. They never expected that the person they’d been supporting all along was actually Cecilia’s son.

At that point, Elliot stepped in and said, “Everyone, you must help me clear this up. I am not the son of a foreigner. My mommy is Cecilia Smith, and my daddy is Nathaniel Rainsworth. Those online rumors claiming my mommy gave birth to me with a foreigner are all lies.”

Elliot spoke in a babyish yet fierce manner, which immediately attracted a horde of fans rushing to his defense.

As it turns out, our sweetie, Jon, has been falsely accused. How can there be such despicable people spreading rumors about someone else’s background?

So, Jon is the son of Cecilia and Nathaniel. No wonder he’s so handsome.

I think I’ve seen Cecilia on the screen before, but I didn’t pay much attention at the time. I never thought she would be Jon’s mother.

Jon, don’t be upset. We’re with you, and we’ll help you explain things.

Elliot’s fanbase, made up of young ladies and older women, was not to be underestimated. Their influence was significant. In no time at all, the livestream announcing his parents‘ news had already become a trending topic.

The trending topic read: The rumor about Cecilia having a child with a foreigner is completely unfounded.

Upon clicking on the trending search, an explanation was provided. It stated that she had the child with Nathaniel.

Everyone soon realized that discerning the truth from falsehoods on the internet was no easy task adorable.

It seems we’ve all been used as pawns, leading to misunderstandings about Jon’s mother. I want to apologize for that.

Exactly! Where are those who previously accused Cecilia of being overly fond of foreigners?

Speaking of which, if this matter is false, what about the other rumors circulated before?

The online community had begun to question the authenticity of the opinions circulating on the internet, no longer hurling mindless insults at Cecilia.

Those who had previously framed Cecilia and the streamers were all noted down by Jonathan. She then handed over the information to her underlings to deal with.

Before long, their accounts began to explode with activity, one after another shutting down or being deactivated.

One by one, they were filled with regret. Some clear–headed individuals on the internet began to notice that something was off. However, the majority still believed that there was something wrong with Cecilia.

It was then that Cecilia realized that Elliot was trying to help clear her name. She felt somewhat guilty, having let the children become embroiled in public controversy.

“Eli, thank you,” Cecilia said.

Elliot shook his head. “Mommy, it’s only right that we do this.”

“Does Jon know about this too?” asked Cecilia.

Elliot nodded. “Yes, it was Jon who asked me to make it public.”

Cecilia gently patted his head, holding him in her arms. “Thanks, Sweetie. However, in the future, let me handle these things on my own.”

Chapter 1254 Getting Sued

Cecilia didn’t want the two young children to worry about her.

Elliot, however, patted his own chest with a serious look on his face. “No way, Mommy. Jon and I are your sons, so it’s our duty to protect you.”

Upon hearing those words, Cecilia couldn’t help but smile.

At the entrance, three women couldn’t help but feel envious.

“I’ve always been afraid of having children, but seeing Eli and Jon, I’ve realized that having children is truly wonderful,” Charlotte said.

Madeline’s face was filled with joy as she held her daughter. “Indeed, they are like angels. I do hope my little girl grows up quickly.”

Lucille nodded in agreement from the side.

She had always been fearful of marriage and having children. At that moment, however, as she watched the interaction between Cecilia and Elliot, her fears seemed to lessen.

“Why are you all here?” Only then did Cecilia notice their arrival and invite them to come in and sit.

“We were just curious about what on earth Eli was up to, whisking you off to the room so mysteriously,” Charlotte replied.

Cecilia told them to come closer, and they all soon found out it was all about providing clarification.

Everyone’s admiration for Cecilia grew. Her son was not only sensible but also well–behaved.

The situation escalated online afterward. Cassandra had initially hired a considerable number of ghostwriters to badmouth Cecilia. Ironically, she ended up reaping what she sowed.

Everyone began to question the authenticity of certain matters.

Elliot’s fans were not to be trifled with, and they promptly responded to the various rumors in the comments section.

Cassandra was absolutely livid, and she didn’t get a wink of sleep all night.

Had she known earlier, she wouldn’t have bothered. With the sheer amount of rumors, people were bound to stop believing them.

Yet, at that moment, a phone call came through.

“Ms. Evans, many of our accounts have been sued,” Riley reported to Cassandra.

“What? Sued? By who?”

“Some have been sued by Cecilia, and some… Well…” Riley couldn’t quite believe it and murmured, “It seems to be from the Public Relations Department of Imminence Corporation.”

“Why would Imminence Corporation sue us?” Cassandra wasn’t afraid of Cecilias‘ lawsuits, but she was

It was important to note that a significant portion of the Rainsworth family’s assets were lost to Imminence Corporation. Moreover, the Evans family was also driven to bankruptcy due to these upheavals.

Riley could only speculate and respond, “I’m not entirely sure, but it might have something to do with their artist, Eric,”

Cassandra certainly didn’t to offend a powerful figure. You need to find a solution and stop sensationalizing the matters between Eric and Cecilia,” she said.

She was also worried that the Jamieson family wouldn’t be able to handle Imminence Corporation. Earlier, Queenie had mentioned that Imminence Corporation was growing aggressively, even taking over a significant portion of the Jamieson family’s business.

“I’m afraid it’s too late.”

As Riley was on the phone with Cassandra, she was inundated with numerous messages: They all stated that every account that had been spreading rumors had received a lawyer’s letter and was being sued.

Cassandra never imagined she’d be left with such a mess. For a moment, she was at a loss. As she was about to seek Brooklyn’s help, the door was suddenly pushed open.

Nicholas, clad in a suit, walked in, his body radiating exhaustion.

Cassandra, fearing he might discover something, immediately hung up the phone.

“Nicholas, you’re back,” she said, her eyes curving with a smile. Yet, she couldn’t quite conceal the hint of panic lurking in their depths.

Nicholas saw her actions but chose not to call her out. Instead, he took a seat on the couch opposite her.

“What have you been busy with lately?” he asked calmly.

Cassandra was feeling a bit uneasy. “I haven’t been up to much. As you know, I can’t dance now that I’m pregnant. I’ve just been choreographing some dance steps and teaching the rookies.”

“It’s good that you’re not busy. After all, you’re pregnant. You need to consider the child in your belly more.”

“I know.” Cassandra nodded repeatedly, daring not to meet Nicholas‘ gaze.

Nicholas rose, intending to retire to the bedroom for some rest. However, Cassandra couldn’t help but ask him, “Nicholas, have you seen the news online?”

Chapter 1255 Grown Up

In the past, he had always been unsuccessful, attributing all the reasons to others. Since the company was running perfectly, his mood had naturally improved. Besides, he had reclaimed a considerable amount of wealth that originally belonged to the Smith family.

“Nicholas, Cecilia assured me that she’s fine,” Magnus said.

The reason why Magnus called Cecilia was also because Nicholas had asked him to do so.

“That’s good,” Nicholas said. “You need to keep in touch with her more. She’s the one who truly cares about you, understand?”

Ever since the last time Cassandra had someone attack, it was Cecilia who came to his rescue with a group of people. From then on, he understood this principle.

Even though Magnus and Cecilia weren’t related by blood, she had always been genuinely good to him. It was his youthful ignorance and recklessness that had been the problem.

“I understand, Nicholas. Don’t worry. I’ve grown up now.”

“All right.”

Nicholas didn’t say much more. In private, he ordered people to control the criticism.

That day, as usual, Cecilia went to the office. However, she had also instructed Charlotte to compile a series of pieces of evidence and post it online, exposing those who had falsely accused her.

However, it was rather peculiar. The evidence she had sent out didn’t cause much of a stir. Even with money involved, there weren’t many who managed to see it.

“What’s going on?” Charlotte was puzzled. “Could it be that Cassandra has somehow managed to get all these major platforms on her side?”

As it turned out, that was indeed the case. Brooklyn had strictly ordered the platforms she controlled not to allow any evidence that could clear Cecilia’s name to circulate.

Therefore, even if Cecilia publicly presented the evidence, it was of no use.

Cecilia truly experienced just how nauseating the actions of those with power and influence could be.

“Lottie, calm down. Someone from the Jamieson family must’ve lent a hand.”

Cecilia had once investigated the Jamieson family and understood that in the realm of the internet, the family was the leading figure.

Chapter 1256

What should we do, then? Just let them spread rumor” Charlotte was our of solutions.

No wonder when Cassandra falsely accused Cecilia back then, it all eventually came to nothing.

For a moment, Cecilia couldn’t come up with a good solution. “Let’s just go with the flow for now.”

Charlotte could only nod. “All right.”

Once the incident with Cecilia broke out, Team Five of the sales department was under scrutiny, with fingers being pointed at them. The performance of some employees was clearly not as good as before, and there were private criticisms.

“I feel that Cecilia is no longer fit to be our manager. Being pregnant and stirring up such a fuss online, she’s bound to cause trouble for us in the future.”

“You’re wrong to say that. Who was it that saved us from Miranda’s clutches in the first place? Do you really want to follow a leader like Miranda and not make any money?”

“Well, I think as long make money, it doesn’t really matter if someone has good character or

The majority of people still supported Cecilia. After all, when Cecilia became their immediate supervisor, their salaries had multiplied over.

Nevertheless, there were still some individuals who were not satisfied. They secretly desired to switch to other departments.

After finding out, Charlotte relayed the situation to Cecilia.

Cecilia, devoid of energy, sat on the chair, and after a moment of thought, she asked, “Lottie, how is the preparation for our company going?”

“All the necessary paperwork has been taken care of, and I’ve rented a space as well. All that’s left is to start working,” Charlotte responded.

“It’s about time we properly manage our own company” Cecilia said.

By then, she had gained a fair understanding of Orion Corporation’s operations. Yet, she felt more at ease with the idea of having her own large–scale enterprise.

“Really? That’s wonderful.” Charlotte’s eyes were filled with excitement.

Before that, she was assisting Cecilia in managing a small company abroad, holding a fairly high–ranking position. However, after arriving there, she was nothing more than an ordinary employee, frequently subjected to unfair treatment.

If not for Cecilia’s sake, she would have long been fed up with those slackers.

“Yes. Have dinner with your colleagues tonight and inform them. I’ll hand in my resignation letter,” Cecilia said.

It was quite simple for Cecilia to resign.

home 125 Resignation 12

She first made a call to Elena

Elena answered the call quickly. Assuming it was about the online matter, she said to Cecilia, “Ceci, I trust you. Much of what’s online is false. Don’t let it bother you.”

Thanks, Mom” After expressing her gratitude, Cecilia added, “I’ve called you today to tell you that I feel as though my responsibilities have been growing each month. It might not be suitable for me to keep working at the company, so I’m considering resigning.

Elena had started to particularly value Cecilia, considering her in all matters. “Oh! I thought it was something serious. The company is ours, after all. You’re free to come and go as you please. There’s no need to report to anyone.”

Cecilia hadn’t expected that the present–Elena would be so agreeable. “Oh. All right.”

Cecilia then ended the call and started tidying up her office.

Some observant individuals outside had noticed the situation unfolding there and immediately informed Miranda./

Although Miranda was no longer working at the company, Robert had returned. She would occasionally find excuses to drop by the office.

Upon learning that Cecilia had actually chosen to leave of her own accord, Miranda found it somewhat unbelievable. Without delay, she found herself standing at the entrance of Cecilia’s office.

“What are you doing, Ceci? Are you planning to leave the company?”

Cecilia didn’t bother to hide her intentions. “Yes. My belly is getting bigger and bigger now. It’s becoming, inconvenient to work. I’m planning to go back and rest

“Oh, I see. I thought it was because of the news online. If it’s about the news, do you want me to find someone to help?” she offered, feigning kindness.

“No need. Thank you.” Cecilia knew she wasn’t that kind–hearted.

Miranda watched as Cecilia walked away.

Naturally, Charlotte followed Cecilia, assisting her with the bags. No sooner had they stepped outside than a luxury car conveniently pulled up before them.

Chapter 1257 Please Cecilia

Charlotte was somewhat puzzled. “Whose car is this? Its blocking the way.”

The next moment, the car window slid down, revealing Nathaniel’s stern face.

Upon seeing Nathaniel, Charlotte mistook him for Nicholas and gave an awkward smile. “Hello, Mr. Rainsworth.”

Nathaniel subtly nodded. He then stepped out of the car and walked toward Cecilia. “Have you resigned?”

He stole a glance at the items that Charlotte and Cecilia were holding in their hands.

Cecilia didn’t respond. Instead, she asked him with a hint of surprise, “What brings you here?”

“I’ve been waiting here since a little past three, worried that you’d finish work and forget to call me,” responded Nathaniel.

After he finished speaking, he turned his gaze toward Charlotte, who was still standing aside, lost in thought. “You must be Ms. Talbot,” he said, curiosity flickering in his eyes. “Thank you for taking care of my wife all these years.”

In the past, Nathaniel would have never bothered with Cecilia’s friends. However, things had changed. He was willing to do anything to please Cecilia.

Charlotte was somewhat taken aback. Only then did she realize that the man before her was not Nicholas. This man is Boss‘ husband!

Cecilia was somewhat taken aback as well. Once she regained her composure, she corrected him by saying, “I’m not your wife. I’m your ex–wife.”

Nathaniel couldn’t help but chuckle. “All right. My ex–wife.”

His smile was particularly charming as he said, “Let’s go. Get in the car.”

Only then did Cecilia let Charlotte to get in the car with her.

Given that Charlotte was present, it wasn’t appropriate for Nathaniel to drag them both to Daltonia Villa.

Moreover, Cecilia was always vigilant about the route, not allowing the driver to take unnecessary detours.

Not long after Cecilia had gotten into the car, Nathaniel pulled out a large bag of snacks, handing them over to her and Charlotte.

“It’s all your favorite food to keep you from getting hungry on the road,” Nathaniel said.

Cecilia’s eyes sparkled when she saw the food, yet she managed to restrain herself. “No need=”

Before Cecilia could finish her sentence, Charlotte had already reached out her little hands, grabbing the food.

“Thank you, Eli’s daddy.”

forget to show some restraint.

The crux of the matter was that the food items Nathaniel had bought were not easily available. Many required standing in exceptionally long lines.

Cecilia saw how happy Charlotte was with the snacks and didn’t feel right to ask her to return them to Nathaniel.

“Eat more if you like it,” Cecilia said, somewhat helplessly.

Charlotte nodded repeatedly. “Boss, you should also cat You’re pregnant now. You must be starving.”

While she was eating, she didn’t forget to feed Cecilia as well.

Cecilia found herself in a bitter–sweet predicament. It was hard to say that Charlotte was tactless, as she still knew how to take care of Cecilia’s meals.-

However, Charlotte still ate the snacks offered, even though Cecilia was about to reject Nathaniel.

“Don’t worry about me. You should eat more.”

“In that case, I won’t hold back.”

In the car, Charlotte was like a little squirrel, constantly eating non–stop.

The driver glanced at Charlotte through the rearview mirror, munching away at her food, and couldn’t help but think what a waste it was that she wasn’t a food and beverage streamer.

Finally, they arrived at the Smith residence.

Nathaniel also got out of the car, thoughtfully helping Cecilia and Charlotte with their boxes.

The driver’s eyes widened in surprise because Nathaniel had never done these things.

“Let’s go. I’ll walk you in.”

After he finished speaking, Nathaniel then turned to the driver and said, “Have someone bring in all the things I’ve bought.”

“Understood.”

The driver repeatedly nodded in agreement.

At that moment, Madeline was in her room, and the commotion outside successfully caught her attention.

Lucille hadn’t finished work yet, leaving Madeline alone at home. When she saw Nathaniel and the others approaching, she instinctively held her child tighter in her arms.

Fortunately, it was only Nathaniel who had gone over. Darren wasn’t present.

Relieved, Madeline didn’t glance at Nathaniel. Instead, she held the child and walked straight toward Cecilia.

“Ceci, why have you come back so early today?”

Chapter 1258 The Strategy

“I’ve quit my job,” Cecilia replied. After that, she added, “From now on, you can leave the child with the housekeeper during the day so that we can focus on our work.”

“Really?” Madeline’s eyes were full of light.

She had been waiting for this moment for far too long,

Once she secured a formal job, she could propose a divorce to Darren. By then, she wouldn’t fear the child being returned to Darren.

“Yes. Let’s go. We’ll talk inside the house.”

of OATHN

“All right.” Madeline nodded, her gaze shifting back to Nathaniel, a chill apparent in her eyes. “Ceci, why is he here?”

Cecilia could only say, “Don’t mind him. Just treat him as if he’s thin air.”

“Okay.”

The few people then entered the house together.

Nathaniel followed suit, entering the house. After setting down the items, he showed no signs of intending to leave.

Cecilia asked him, “When are you leaving?”

“It’s getting late tonight, so I’ll stay here and leave first thing in the morning,” Nathaniel said shamelessly.

Immediately, Cecilia rejected the idea, saying, “No. It’s not appropriate.”

Madeline quickly chimed in, “Exactly. We’re all women here. It’s not appropriate for a grown man like you to stay here.”

Just a moment ago, Charlotte had eaten something given by Nathaniel. Prior to that, she had also accepted a gift from him.

Since she had received things from him, she said, “Actually, the house is quite spacious. He could sleep alone on the top floor. That way, he won’t disturb us.”

Madeline couldn’t help but give Charlotte a sidelong glance, puzzled by her actions. Why is she siding with the outsider? Does she not understand the importance of unity against others?

Nathaniel hadn’t expected that Charlotte would actually speak up for him, and he immediately said, “No worries. I won’t disturb you guys. I’ll wait here for Eli to return. After seeing him, I’ll leave.”

The words he spoke left both Madeline and Cecilia at a loss for what to say.

It was only natural for a father to look for his son, and no one had the right to interfere.

“All right, then.”

Cecilia went to prepare dinner with Gordon.

Nathaniel rose, following her into the kitchen.

“Why have you followed ine here?” Cecilia asked.

“I’m here to help you. You’re pregnant now, so let me know what you want to eat,” Nathaniel said in a gentle, deep voice.

Cecilia was left at a loss for words by his good temperament. “No need. I don’t require any help.”

Nathaniel remained unwilling to leave, standing in the kitchen, watching what Cecilia was doing, and offering help.

Additionally, the driver, along with some others, set down the gifts Nathaniel had purchased before taking their leave.

Charlotte sat next to Madeline, watching attentively before she couldn’t help but comment, “I think Boss‘ ex–husband isn’t too bad. After all, he’s still the father of Eli and Jon.”

Madeline held her daughter, seemingly unconcerned. “Don’t be fooled by a man’s outward appearance. Many bad men don’t wear their wickedness on their faces.”

Darren looked like a seemingly refined man, but he turned out to be a wolf in sheep’s clothing.

Charlotte had never been married. Hence, she didn’t say anything more after she heard Madeline’s words.

During the time of cooking, the kitchen was particularly bustling.

Finally, when the meal was nearly ready, Elliot and Lucille returned.

“Mommy, what have you cooked today?” Elliot was eager to find Cecilia, yet his eyes instantly caught sight of Nathaniel in the kitchen.

Nathaniel was donned in an apron as he stood in the kitchen. His towering figure and noble demeanor seemed somewhat out of place.

“Sc*mbag daddy, you’re here.” The corners of Elliot’s lips lifted into a smirk. My sc*mbag daddy does seem to understand some strategies. Otherwise, he wouldn’t have shown up today.

Nathaniel emerged from the kitchen. “Yes. It’s time to eat.”

“All right.”

Elliot was about to call others to join him for the meal when Nathaniel suddenly grabbed his clothes, bent down, and whispered in his ear, “You need to help me get approval to stay here tonight, and in return, I can promise to fulfill any request you have in the future.”

Chapter 1259 A Crying Act

Elliot’s eyes sparkled, and he responded softly, “It’s a deal.”

At that moment, Cecilia emerged from the kitchen. “What are you two talking about?”

“It’s nothing.” Elliot lied by saying, “Sc*mbag daddy asked me to tell the others that the meal is ready.”

Upon hearing that, Cecilia didn’t ask any further questions.

That day, Nathaniel joined them for dinner, and the people at the table were somewhat uneasy. However, Elliot livened up the atmosphere. He would occasionally engage Nathaniel in conversation, asking him where he had been recently and what he had been up to.

He also mentioned how much he missed Nathaniel.

Cecilia quietly observed, feeling a sense of guilt.

She had forgotten that a child also needed a father’s love. Seeing how much Elliot adored Nathaniel, it seemed she would have to allow her children more interaction with their father in the future.

Finally, the meal was finished.

Not wanting to disturb the family, Lucille and the other two made excuses to return to their rooms.

There, only Nathaniel, Cecilia, and Elliot remained.

Nathaniel stood up and said, “Ceci, these are the gifts I’ve bought for everyone. Later, could you please help me distribute the gifts to them? I’ll head back first.

As he spoke, his gaze was fixed on Elliot.

The realization hit Elliot instantly. As Nathaniel was about to leave, he rushed over, wrapping his arms tightly around Nathaniel’s thigh.

“Sc*mbag daddy, why are you leaving? Did Mommy and I make you angry? Don’t you want us anymore?” Elliot’s eyes were brimming with tears. His crying act was nothing short of masterful.

Nathaniel feigned difficulty and said, “Obviously, that’s the case.”

“Why, then? Why are you leaving us behind? We’re a family, aren’t we? A family is supposed to live together,” Elliot said.

Cecilia stepped forward immediately, saying, “Eli, haven’t I mentioned this before? We currently have three other ladies staying at our place, so it’s not convenient.”

“What’s the inconvenience? The house is so spacious. Can’t you and Daddy just share a room, Mommy?” Elliot was no longer buying into that logic.

After all, it was a mansion instead of an ordinary house, Cecilia’s room alone was akin to a living room and bedroom combined in an ordinary house.

“Eli, behave yourself.” Cecilia lowered her voice.

Elliot suddenly burst into tears as if he had been set on fire, sobbing uncontrollably, “Mommy, what’s wrong? Why are you reprimanding me? I just want to live with Daddy.”

His crying successfully drew the attention of the other three ladies.

Charlotte was the first to break the silence, saying, “Boss, it’s all right. It’s not inconvenient at all for Eli’s father to stay here.”

That was originally Cecilia’s home, after all, so it was only natural for her husband to reside there.

Lucille also emerged from the room, saying, “Exactly. Let him stay. It’s no problem.”

The mansion was so vast that each person had their own private space. In fact, it really wouldn’t affect the others.

Even Sven was staying there.

While coaxing the child, Madeline came out of her room and said, “Yes, Ceci. It’s fine.”

Initially, Cecilia intended to have the three of them persuade Elliot. Unexpectedly, they began to urge her to let Nathaniel stay the night instead.

Elliot was still clutching Nathaniel’s leg, pleading, “Mommy, please agree. Otherwise, I’ll be really upset.”

As of then, Cecilia could be tough with anyone, but she simply couldn’t do the same with her kids.

“Fine.” Cecilia bent down, offering a tissue to Elliot to wipe away his tears. “Don’t cry anymore. I’ll let your daddy stay.”

Elliot’s scheme had succeeded, and a glimmer of joy flashed through his eyes. “Okay! Mommy, you’re the best.”

He then planted a kiss on Cecilia’s cheek.

Cecilia felt somewhat helpless.

After soothing Elliot, when it came time to rest in the evening, Nathaniel naturally followed Cecilia back to her bedroom.

Cecilia was still upset when she thought about the words Nathaniel had spoken that morning at Daltonia Villa.

“Sleep on the couch,” she said.

Cecilia further explained, “If not for Eli, I wouldn’t have let you stay. So, you ought to behave yourself and sleep on the couch.”

Nathaniel knew she was still upset about what had happened last time.

“All right, I’ll sleep on the couch,” he agreed without hesitation.

Only after this did Cecilia return to her bedroom. After freshening up, she laid down to rest.

Nathaniel found himself unable to sleep, sitting on the couch outside, watching as the light in Cecilia’s bedroom switched off.

Cecilia didn’t sleep well that night, perhaps due to the multitude of events that had transpired during the day.

During the late hours of the night, she was plagued by nightmares, mumbling in her sleep.

“Get out… Get out…”

Nathaniel had been lying on the couch, not sleeping at all. Upon hearing Cecilia talking while asleep, he immediately got up.

Fortunately, the door to Cecilia’s bedroom was left open. He went to the bedside, taking hold of Cecilia’s hand. “Ceci, what’s wrong?” he asked.

In a daze, Cecilia tightly clutched his hand.

“Save me… Save me…”

In her nightmare, she was targeted by countless people. Unable to find a way to save herself, she had grasped onto a lifeline, and no matter what, she couldn’t bring herself to let go.

Nathaniel tightly held her hand. “I’m here. It’s okay. It’s okay.”

Cecilia was roused from her sleep by her own sleep–talking. As she opened her eyes, she saw Nathaniel vigilantly by her side, still holding her hand.

She swiftly withdrew her right hand, reverting back to her usual indifference.

“Get out, now.”

This time, however, Nathaniel didn’t heed her words. “I’m sleeping here.”

Cecilia’s face instantly flushed a deep red. “Didn’t I make myself clear? You’re sleeping outside.”

“I can sleep on the floor, right next to you,” Nathaniel gently responded. “That way, if you have another nightmare, I’ll be close by to comfort you.”

Initially, Cecilia wanted to say she didn’t need it, but the contents of her dream flashed through her mind, and she no longer refused.

“All right, then.”

Nathaniel then spread out a quilt and laid down next to Cecilia.

Cecilia closed her eyes again but found it somewhat challenging to fall asleep. She tossed and turned, feeling rather uncomfortable.

“What’s wrong? Are you having trouble sleeping?”

In the darkness, the deep voice of Nathaniel echoed..

There was a moment of silence from Cecilia before she replied, “Yes. Perhaps I went to bed too early, and now I’m having a bit of trouble falling asleep.”

She didn’t mention that it was due to the overwhelming events of the day. Sometimes, attempting to control one’s own thoughts could be incredibly challenging.

“Since you can’t sleep, shall we chat?”

“What should we chat about?”

Cecilia had leaned toward his side.

Under the dim lighting, she couldn’t make out Nathaniel’s face clearly. All she heard was him saying, “Let’s talk about what happened last time.”

Cecilia’s expression subtly shifted. Before she could speak, Nathaniel solemnly said, “I’m sorry. I misspoke last time.”

He didn’t know how to explain himself, feeling that an apology would be best.

Upon hearing his apology, Cecilia tightened her lips, her thoughts unclear.

There was a sense of loss in Nathaniel’s deep eyes when he didn’t get a response from Cecilia. “If you don’t want to talk about it, we can talk about something else.”

At last, Cecilia answered, “All right.”

“What do you want to talk about?” Nathaniel asked seriously.

Cecilia pondered for a moment. “Let’s talk about when we first got married. Back then, I thought you were Nicholas. You believed I tricked you into marriage. Did you really not have any fondness for me at that time?”

The air fell into a silence as still as death.

Nathaniel’s Adam’s apple subtly moved as his memories drifted back to the past.

In truth, when he first laid eyes on Cecilia, he thought the young lady was quite attractive and gentle. There wasn’t even a hint of dislike.

When they got engaged, he was also willing.

“Had it not been for the misunderstanding, I wouldn’t have disliked you at all,” he said.
