Chapter 521: Let’s get married

"W-what do you mean? " Linda stuttered baffled by his sudden accusation.

Ryan who was glaring at her, smiled and pulled back.

"What kind of sensible pregnant woman tries to get intoxicated unless and until she wants to kill her child" Ryan rephrased switching his entire mood and taking a sip from his drink.

Linda who forgot to breathe, realized Ryan was only warning her from drinking.

Ryan glanced at her from the corner of his eyes. Watching her continue drinking made him realize how heartless she had turned. She not only hurt his feelings but also hid the truth of their child’s death.

Linda stopped drinking and sat quietly for some time until she decided to leave.

The second she stood up, Linda stumbled to her feet, but Ryan was quick enough to hold her.

"Are you that drunk already? " Ryan asked laughing at her clumsiness.

Annoyed by his remark, Linda jerked away his hand and stabilized herself. "Don’t you dare touch me or else I will tell my grandpa about you"

Linda was trying to threaten him by using her grandfather however the reaction she got in return stunned her.

Ryan couldn’t stop laughing and it only irked her to the point she stomped on her feet and walked away.

Linda sobered up hearing his words.

Ryan wanted their child, but, how was she supposed to give him the child she lost?

Meeting his serious eyes, Linda felt a chill run down her spine.

Sweat beads brown onto her forehead and she watched caress her face.

"Think about it, Linda. If you don’t want anyone to know that the child is mine, then take me back. If not... Then give me my child back" Pulling away his hand roughly, Ryan glared at Linda and stepped out of the car, soon disappearing from her sight.

However, it was the sound of her phone snapped her out of her trance as she frantically unlocked it and read the text

[You only have two days Linda and your TIME. STARTS. NOW] The phone slipped from her as terror engulfed every corner of her within those few seconds.

While Linda was busy dealing with Ryan’s words, he had already informed Karl of everything.

"Just keep pushing her buttons. I am sure she will so give up"

Hanging up the call, Karl turned and met Gwen’s curious eyes.

"Why are you staring at me like I am cheating on you behind your back" He asked placing the phone aside before fully facing her with his leg crossed over the other.

Resting his body on the backrest of the couch, Karl admired her beauty flashing a pleasant smile. However, as soon as he said those words her lips stretched into a gorgeous smile as she pounced on him like a child.

"I know you would never do that and even if you did there is no way you are going to date a man" she answered with a light shrug and crawled onto his lap.

Gwen’s confidence left Karl speechless. He could only watch her with stunned eyes, and comfortably on his lap, whereas, Gwen on the other hand enjoyed the look on his face and quickly stole a kiss and pulled back.

Twitching her brows playfully, Gwen was now smiling at his reaction with amusement.

"Okay now tell me what did Ryan say?" she asked wrapping her arms around his neck and quickly changing the topic, which ended up spoiling all of the mood.

Taking a moment to calm down Karl disclosed his conversation with Ryan to Gwen.

"I am sure, Linda must be feeling struck. Everyone was coming after her and I am sure soon she would give up" Gwen stated.

Acme Group was still struggling financially and for Linda, it turned out to be more troublesome as no investor trusted them enough to invest in their company.

Karl was impressed by Gwen’s thoughtfulness and agreed with her.

Running his hand through her hair, Karl grabbed onto the back of her neck and was about to kiss her when suddenly his phone rang.

Interrupted by the sound, Karl let go of her and picked up the phone only to find the person calling him was none other than Linda.

Sharing a serious glance, Karl answered the call by putting the phone on speaker.

"Linda-"

"Karl lets get married tomorrow!"

 

Chapter 522: Mr. Karl has arrived

A deafening silence engulfed the room, however, Karl remained composed and replied.

"Linda, you know what you are talking right? I mean we planned on getting married next month. What made you change your mind all of a sudden?" he asked.

After getting threatened by Ryan, Linda lost her mind. She couldn’t come to think of anything that could stop him from coming after her. With their finance going down, Linda could also see how her grandfather was struggling to keep up with his health.

People they trusted were slowly leaving him, making them helpless about their current state and if Ryan happened to disclose the truth, she wouldn’t lose Karl too.

Biting her lips anxiously, Linda heard every word Karl said. She knew he would come to inquire about the sudden change in her decision, so she called him prepared.

"It’s Grandpa’s wish. He isn’t doing well and wants us to get married tomorrow if possible" Linda declared.

Karl’s face darkened when Linda again used Charles as her shield. He knew after losing his shares Charles was having a hard time dealing with company problems, however, what surprised Karl was Linda’s greed to achieve her goals.

She knew Charles was a man of his word and he wouldn’t betray Linda, so she came up with this quick escape plan.

As the other side of the line remained quiet, Linda found it hard to remain calm. She wanted to marry Karl as soon as possible. It was her only way to her rightful shares from her grandfather and apart she also wanted to claim Karl.

Linda knew once married Karl wouldn’t be able to leave her no matter what anyone says. Ryan was just a passerby and his words wouldn’t be even considered, no matter how much he yelled that the child in her stomach was his.

She had everything in control and her only way to get away from all this trouble was to marry Karl as soon as possible.

Ryan had given her two days, but before the due date ended she would be married to Karl, and Ryan wouldn’t be able to do anything.

Time passed and finally, Karl spoke, "Okay, let’s do it then"

Linda stood still and soon a smile stretched on her lips. "Let’s do it" she repeated happily and ended the call.

As soon as the line went dead, Karl moved his eyes towards Gwen. The gleam of sheer fear flashed in her eyes and he quickly engulfed her in his arms.

"This marriage won’t be happening and this is my promise to you"

The moment Karl agreed to the marriage, Linda first informed Charles. Though he was surprised and inquired her about the sudden change, Linda manipulated him with another lie.

Charles had been dealing with a lot of stuff lately, so when Linda told him that it was the right time to get married to Karl and take him to their side, he agreed without any argument.

Charles was impressed by how Linda was trying hard to strengthen their company business, the old man asked the butler to bring the shares paper.

"The moment you marry Karl, I will sign them in front of everyone" Charles declared unaware of Linda’s true motives.

Linda had never liked Charles. The man was the bane of her existence and she wanted to teach him a lesson by withdrawing all her shares which was the only hope for the Acme group to stand their ground.

She wanted to see Charles suffer for all the trouble he gave him all these years. However, Charles was unaware of anything she was scheming behind his back and he only saw her for the side he always wanted to see her, a perfect granddaughter.

Morning came and the preparation began. Since it was Linda’s wedding, Charles didn’t let her down and organized a lavish wedding with very few of his trusted associates attending the wedding.

Inside her room, Linda got ready wearing her beautiful wedding gown. She couldn’t believe it, just one night and everything changed. She was finally getting married.

Standing in front of the mirror, Linda looked at herself. Her wish was finally going to come true. After today, Karl would be entirely hers and long with him, she would also get the wealth, that rightfully belonged to her.

Linda was looking for a life that would bring her happiness and it was only Karl who would make her happy.

Everyone gathered inside the lawn which was now decorated as the wedding venue. A few reporters were invited to capture Charles Acme’s granddaughter’s wedding at the man who was once Tristan Knight’s most trusted ally.

Charles was a cunning man and didn’t want to leave any chance of taunting the company that threw them out for personal reasons.

As the lawn began to fill with guests, Charles tried to connect Karl who seemed to be unreachable at this point. It was almost the time and yet the groom wasn’t present.

"Where the hell is he!?" Charles fumed and again dialed his number and this time his phone was switched off.

Charles started getting impatient watching the guests and reporters waiting for the ceremony to begin. Something felt off to him. Karl was unreachable at this moment and with his phone turned off, strange thoughts clouded his mind.

Leaving the venue, Charles rushed to meet Linda and knocked on her room’s door.

The moment the door opened, he barged in impatiently and said," Karl, he is unreachable"

Linda stilled hearing Charles’s words. She knew her grandfather wouldn’t joke about something serious. Seeing the restless look on his face, Linda immediately sprinted to her bedside table, picked up her cell phone, and dialed Karl’s number.

Linda’s grip on the phone loosened. Unable to process, she let the thing slip from her hand when someone interrupted their talk by knocking on the door, pulling their attention towards the butler of the house.

"Master, Mr. Karl has arrived"

Chapter 523: Linda exposed

Both Charles and Linda rushed downstairs and headed to the venue. The moment they saw Karl standing across the aisle, both heaved a sigh of relief.

Linda had almost forgotten to breathe when she couldn’t reach Karl. However, all her worries flew away when she watched him stand in front of her eyes.

Composing herself, she looked at her grandfather who too seemed at ease after witnessing Karl. Reaching out his hand Charles motioned Linda to take it and soon the butler announced the bridge entry.

Everyone’s eyes drew to them as they watched Linda and Charles make their way towards the groom.

Linda was smiling to herself as her happiness had no limits. As soon as she stood in front of Karl, her lips stretched wide when Karl extended his hand to hold hers.

Smiling at him, Charles released Linda’s hand and stepped aside, retreating to his seat on the first row, along with the guest.

Linda was over the moon. She couldn’t believe she was finally getting married to her dream man, however, there was this lingering feeling in her heart that stopped her from fully expressing herself.

With her eyes fixated on Karl, they soon walked a few steps and stood in front of the priest.

Linda wanted to ask Karl why his phone was unreachable and how worried she was because of his unresponsiveness. But she let that thought away and looked forward to the wedding.

For her watching Karl standing in front of her was enough. All they had to do was to say ’ I do’

Linda was busy dreaming while the priest recited the prayers in the background when suddenly Karl stopped him midway

Snapping out of her trance, Linda stared at Karl confusingly.

"Karl, what happened" she asked, scanning her eyes secretly all across the crowd, but the reaction answer she got in return left her speechless.

"Before we continue the wedding, there is something I would like to gift Linda" Linda gaped upon hearing his words but watched the people whisper around her she passed them an awkward smile.

"Karl, you can give it to me later. Let’s finish our wedding vows first" Linda muttered holding onto his hand tightly. Don’t know why Karl’s sudden request made her feel uneasy. However, that didn’t stop him.

Letting go of her hand Karl turned to face the guest and said," I am sorry for the interruption, but there is something I would like to present"

Charles’s face paled and he stood up from his seat, ready to rush to Karl’s side when suddenly a voice stopped him on his steps and his eyes flung into the direction of the projector which stood blank at the corner inside the venue.

Blow drew from her body as Linda stood shocked when a video of hers talking to her doctor played on the white screen grabbing everyone’s attention.

It was the same video that Ryan received the other day. However, the video that played next left Charles stunned.

"Never let Ryan find that his child is dead. You have to keep this truth from everyone, even from Karl until I get those shares from my grandfather. He won’t give me a penny unless I marry someone"

Linda stood there motionless watching her sins getting exposed publicly. It was then she understood the reason behind Karl’s disappearance.

As the reality struck her Linda snapped out of her shock and quickly began to whitewash herself.

"It’s a lie... this video is a lie" Linda yelled in front of everyone, but when nobody paid heed to words, she rushed to Charles.

"Grandpa, trust me. This is all a lie" Linda tried to rectify however Charles didn’t react and remained shocked after whatever he witnessed with his own eyes.

He couldn’t believe whatever he saw. Linda faked everything just to get those shares. She stooped so low that she didn’t care about faking her father’s child.

Charles had thought Linda was still innocent to never realized the difference between good and bad. And the day she decided to marry that useless Ryan, he did everything to separate them.

Charles thought by giving her an ultimatum, she would finally give up. But he was wrong, instead of seeing the truth, she schemed everything.

As the realization drew him Charles understood how foolish he was to trust in someone who was never faithful to him.

"If you still don’t believe this, then we have the doctor and Ryan to confirm the truth. They are here with us" Karl stated pointing in the direction of Ryan and the Doctor before seizing Charles’s attention towards them, however, the old man simply chuckled in dismay.

Charles was betrayed by his own granddaughter, the one who grew up in front of him.

"There is no need for enough proof. I have already seen and heard everything" Charles could now see how much of a fool he has been to get trapped in Linda’s lies blindly.

But now, everything was clear and there was no need for more explanation.

Taking a moment, Charles then turned to face Karl and apologized. " I know it’s useless but forgive me. I am equally involved in her sin and there is no way for me to rectify my mistake" Charles had a change of heart and he realized how wrong he was to think he would use Karl as a weapon against the Knight.

Karl didn’t say a word but when his eyes moved to see Linda, he watched her glare at him furiously.

Linda couldn’t stand what was happening around her. There was no way Karl would expose her like this and she would lose everything she planned for so long.

As her anger reached the limit, she marched towards Karl to slap him for fooling her into his lies, however before she could reach him, Charles stopped her by slapping her right onto her face.

Linda stumbled on her feet, shocked by the slap she received from Charles.

"I should have known a woman like you should never be trusted. So from this day on I disown you. You are nothing to me and the shares you were trying to steal by cheating will be donated to charity" Charles declared leaving everyone shocked.

"No.. no you can’t do this to me, Grandpa. I am your only heir, how can you disown me" Linda snapped out of her madness and approached Charles. He couldn’t just disown her. She wanted the money to live a lavish life. How can he just give her right to anyone else?

Linda tried to pursue Charles but the disgrace in his eyes gave her the answer.

"You are no one to me" Charles declared and left the venue without sparing another glance at Linda as she slumped down on the floor facing the consequences of her sins.

Chapter 524: We got married!

Inside the vast park, Gwen sat on the bench and watched the kids play. It was the same park where Karl had confessed his love for her. The place where their journey as a couple begins.

No doubt this park held an important place in her heart and Gwen wanted to cherish every moment they would start from here.

Recalling the memories Gwen’s eyes moistened and a particular image crossed her mind bringing a million-dollar smile on her face.

The sound of her phone snapped her out of her thoughts and read the message she received from Karl.

The smile on her face broadened and she followed the words soon making Karl a call.

"Where are you?" Gwen asked as soon the moment he answered the phone. The happiness on her face didn’t falter for a second, however, the unsaid words did accelerate her heartbeats.

"Turn around" Gwen instantly looked to the side and watched Karl walk to her wearing his wedding suit.

Gwen stood up and cut the call before making her way to him.

The moment they stood in front of each other unexplainable words were exchanged between the two in silence. Not for a second did they avert their eyes however the happiness was clearly evident within their orbs.

"Are you ready?" Karl asked.

"Yes," Gwen answered and watched him grab her hand as they both left the park.

The members inside the Knight Mansion were enjoying the defeat of Linda Acme. According to the reports, Charles Acme disowned his granddaughter and donated her shares to the charity.

Along with Linda, both Ryan and the doctor who helped were also charged with exploiting medical rules.

Karl made sure Linda wouldn’t get out however in the case of Ryan, he limited his detention. Whereas the doctor lost her license.

"I hope this punishment will be a huge lesson for Linda," Grace said turning off the television and looked at Trevor who agreed the same.

"It’s high time. Karl and Gwen should seriously think about getting married before someone else comes and tries ruining their relationship" Trevor pointed out.

Grace bobbed her head understanding the severity of the situation. It had been a while since they had been seeing each other and after facing so much, she didn’t want them to suffer anymore.

"I’ll talk with the kids soon," Grace said.

She was about to pick up her teacup when her eyes caught the sight of Gavin walking downstairs.

"Are you going somewhere, Gavin?" she asked.

Gavin stopped hearing his mother’s voice and approached his parents.

"Yes, Mom, I am going to meet Jenny" Gavin answered with a smile.

Watching her son finally taking his relationship seriously, Grace couldn’t help but feel proud. She never thought her intention to bring Jenny and Gavin together worked and she couldn’t wait to see them finally getting married.

Grace knew it was too selfish of her to expect something so soon, however just like Tristan she wanted the best for other kids too.

"Then you shouldn’t waste your time. Go and meet her" Grace chirped and watched her son leave.

On his way toward the main door, Gavin suddenly stopped as the door opened on its own and two people stepped inside.

"MOM. DAD!" Gavin screamed jolting his parents into their seats and they quickly turned around seizing their attention towards the main door only to find Gwen and Karl walking in carrying their marriage certificates in their hands

"We got married" Gwen chirped excitedly and ran towards her parents who stood up like a broken robot eyeing their daughter in utter shock.

"Uncle, Aunty" Karl’s voice snapped the two out of their astonishment and they turned their eye towards him, watching him saying.

"Give us your blessings"

"WHAT! You are pregnant!!" Grace gaped in shock watching the two kids who not only decided to marry on their own but also hid such a piece of big news from them.

Trevor rubbed his temple, sitting next to his wife, and sighed.

After stunning the entire house with their marriage, Gwen and Karl left them speechless with the news of Gwen’s pregnancy.

Tristan and Ashley who were summoned home were also surprised at how Karl and Gwen reacted to this situation so fast.

"Mom, Dad I know it’s too sudden but we had no other choice and-" Gwen spoke but shut her mouth when Grace shot her a deadly glare.

Karl who sat quietly the entire time noticed the small exchange of stares between Grace and Gwen and quickly stepped in their defense.

"Aunty, It’s not Gwen’s fault. I am the one-"

"Stop!" Grace stopped Karl from speaking and the latter instantly sealed his mouth.

Eyeing the two with a deadpan glare, Grace sighed in defeat.

"I had dreamed of a lavish wedding for you two, however, you both ruined it for me" Grace expressed her wish helplessly, as she watched the two sigh after a much-heated interrogation.

Gwen was expecting her parents to squeal with happiness after learning that she married Karl, however, their reaction surprised her.

Gwen didn’t want to let her parents down by taking such a huge step without consulting them, however, when they found out about her pregnancy, all they could think was to get hitched as soon as possible.

They knew it was a selfish decision but Karl didn’t want to stay away from her and their child anymore. However, now that they understood how much their decision upset their family, Karl decided to seek an apology.

"Uncle, Aunty I know we both disappointed you, but I promised to marry Gwen as soon as Linda was been taken care of. However the pregnancy came as a surprise to us too and knowing how much Gwen would need me by her side, I couldn’t wait to get married to her" Karl’s genuine words seeped into Grace’s heart and the frown on her face vanished.

Grace had always believed Karl and she knew his every word was sincere and clear like water. There was no doubt that he loved Gwen more than anything else which was why she could stay upset with them anymore.

"I know who must’ve been eager to get laid. You don’t have to cover up for her always" Shooting a glare at Gwen she watched her gasp.

"Mom... you are being mean" Gwen complained and turned to her father, "Dad, Mom is bullying me"

Trevor was about to console but watching his wife looking his way, he sealed his parted mouth leaving Gwen speechless.

"Anyways, have you both realized it’s not just the two of you anymore? There’s a life growing within you" Tristan who had been watching the entire scene spoke, seizing everyone’s attention.

Both Gwen and Karl nod their head simultaneously. "And we are ready for it" Their response came in unison sending a wave of relief in Tristan’s face.

With a satisfied smile appearing on his face Tristan declared," Okay then, we aren’t upset with you two anymore, right Mom"

Tristan turned towards his mother and watched her agree with him.

After settling everything and spending some time with their parents Tristan and Ashley headed to their room.

Gwen pregnancy news took the entire family by surprise however they were happy for the couple. After going through so much they finally found their happiness.

"Gwen is pregnant!!! My little sister is going to become a mother. I still can’t believe it" Tristan murmured to himself, still absorbing the piece of news that left him contemplating.

Ashley smiled watching Tristan’s unbelievable expression. She knew how much he adored his siblings and watching him embrace the happy news recalled the time when she disclosed the news of her pregnancy.

He had the same smile lingering on his face.

For a moment she missed her child as her hand unknowingly caressed her flat stomach. The feeling of watching a new life grow within you was incredible and she wished to embrace motherhood once again.

The thought of her child-directed her mind toward Sandra. "Any news about Sandra?" she asked changing the topic as the smile on her face disappeared at the mention of her name.

Tristan snapped out of thoughts and looked at her with surprise. However, the sullenness on her face hinted to him something and he answered, "Gabriel and Gavin are working on finding the lead. I am sure he will come with a positive update soon"

"Gavin?!" Ashley asked cocking her brows in confusion.

"Ah, I forgot to tell you, Gavin would also be helping us find Sandra’s whereabouts" Tristan disclosed everything from how Gavin was assigned a task to find Bianca Peterson, who was the daughter of his General and also the doctor who treated Sandra after getting shot by his men.

"So Jenny and Bianca are friends" she asked and Tristan nodded his head in agreement.

"Such a small world we are living in. I never thought things would become so easy for us" Ashley expressed her thoughts.

"Yes and now with Bianca’s help, we will soon find them"

Gabriel had already played his first move and now that Martin had already seen Bianca they were sure Sandra would take some kind of action to come after her once again.

Jenny had finished checking a few patients when she received a call from Gavin. It had become a habit of receiving a call from him that would eventually bring a smile to her face.

After changing their morning plan and pushing it into the afternoon, Gavin soon reached Jenny’s workplace. Making sure to park his car away from the hospital, Gavin patiently waited for her.

There was a sheer sense of happiness on his face and he couldn’t wait to share it with Jenny.

"Gavin?!" watching the man smile to himself surprised Jenny and she called his name out.

Turning around Gavin watched Jenny walking towards him but before she could reach him, Gavin sprinted to her and hugged her tightly.

"Jenny... I am so happy today" Gavin expressed his happiness forgetting about the girl who stood stunned by his hug.

Jenny wasn’t telling Gavin to hug her in the middle of the road, however realizing how happy he was, her hands unconsciously wrapped around him as she hugged him back.

Jenny was surprised but the warmth of his embrace gave her a sense of protectiveness, making her feel his emotions.

As they stood embracing each other, Gavin suddenly realized their position and the smile on his face faltered. Standing still for a moment, he then slowly released her.

"I-I am sorry... I shouldn’t have-" Gavin felt embarrassed and tried to apologize for his action but Jenny cut him.

"It’s okay Gavin. I get it that you are happy, but, will you tell me the reason for your happiness" Jenny smiled ignoring the awkwardness. She genuinely wanted to know what made him so happy that he couldn’t contain his excitement and hugged her.

Gavin took a moment to read her face and when he saw the genuine curiosity in her eyes without a trace of uneasiness the heaviness inside his chest weathered.

"Gwen is expecting. I am soon going to become Uncle" Gavin declared as the smile on his face returned and he watched Jenny joining him.

"That’s great news, Gavin. I wish I could congrats her personally" Jenny expressed but soon regretted letting out her thoughts.

Gavin and Jenny were in a fake relationship, however getting to know his family excited her. But now she regrets asking too much.

Gavin watched the smile on her face falter but before she could utter a word to decline that request he answered," Sure why not? I will take you home in the evening. You can meet Gwen and my family there"

Jenny was taken aback by his generous words. As if Gavin read her thoughts and quickly came to agree to her request without letting her withdraw her words, Jenny’s heart skipped a beat. She was overwhelmed by his thoughtfulness without letting notice what he actually did.

Jenny and Gavin stood there awkwardly before their eyes fell on their interwind hands.

"OOPS! I am sorry" Gavin quickly let go of her hand and cleared his throat. He had been so excited that he failed to notice his gestures towards Jenny.

"So! Is there anything you want to talk" Jenny was embarrassed at how comfortable they both had started to get with each other and quickly changed the topic, brushing away the awkward air between them.

"Ah! Yes, there is something I want to tell you but-"Looking around Gavin grabbed her wrist and dragged her to his car.

"Let’s talk inside," he said opening the door and watched Jenny hop in without uttering a word.

Unknown to them, a person monitored their every move by clicking a few pictures of them and sending them to the owner.

Claudie waited for the informer’s update and the moment her phone buzzed, her eyes sparkled with delight.

"See, didn’t I tell you they weren’t faking? Don’t you see the love in their eyes" Marcus Han pointed glancing at his daughter’s photo with Gavin.

After Claudie refused to accept that Jenny had finally moved on, she hired an informer to follow the couple and update everything little details about them.

Till now she couldn’t come to find any evidence against them that would prove to them that the couple was faking their relationship.

The sparkle in Claudie’s eyes dimmed, slowly moistening her eyes watching the pictures.

"I only wish the best for her Marcus" Claudie muttered and turned to look at her husband who gave her an assuring smile.

"Gavin is the one for her. Don’t you see how happy our daughter is?? I am sure he will make her forget her past so please stop worrying yourself" Marcus assured patting his wife’s shoulder before pulling her for a side hug.
