Ch. 86..90: Fatal Kiss Of The Vampire Chapter 86-90

Chapter 86: You Are Really Unreasonable

Kylie also realized that she must find a way to turn things around. Otherwise, she would not only lose her position in the family but in all other areas of her life.

To her surprise, just as she was leaving the studio, she received a phone call from Laurence. He ordered her to return to the company site immediately.

When Kylie returned to the site, even the employees at Garcia Entertainment looked at her with some disdain. It had been proven that the video on Instagram was telling the truth.

She chose to ignore everyone else and went directly to Laurence’s office. He chose to meet her at his company office instead of at home. She could already assume the significance of their meeting.

“President, you asked for me?”

“Sit down.” Laurence looked up from the file in front of him and tried to conceal his anger.

Kylie carelessly flopped down on the sofa. She placed her feet on the coffee table and loudly chewed her gum.

“Kylie, the person in the video is you, right?” Laurence closed the file, then continued, in an angry tone: “I can recognize your back.”

“Are you so sure?” Without looking at him, Kylie bowed her head and glanced at her cellphone.

Her careless attitude disgusted Laurence.

“How could director Julian add a part for you, considering your terrible acting skills? You must have played tricks on him.”

Faced with Laurence’s doubts, Kylie remembered the numerous occasions in which he had protected Khloe… At first, Kylie had thought that Laurence only defended Khloe because she had just started her acting career. For that reason, Kylie had once been willing to endure the unequal treatment of his daughters.

But now she realized that Khloe was the only one he would ever want to protect.

“I was in Connell that day, but I didn’t make out with William in the car.” Kylie pretended to be calm, but her eyes were intently watching every expression on Laurence’s face. “And that day, Khloe was also in Connell.”

“You… you mean, the black girl is Khloe?! What nonsense!” Lauren violently threw the documents to the ground and stared cruelly at the person on the sofa.

“I asked Khloe, and she said that she saw you with William at that time…” Laurence continued.

“What did we do together? Embrace? Or have an intimate moment… Are you saying that she took that video?”

“You are really unreasonable!” Laurence paced around his office. He looked at Kylie and said: “She saw someone recording a video, then she paid that person not to publish it. She wanted to help you, but she hadn’t thought that person had a second copy! Khloe does everything for you, but you defame every chance you get.

“You are an actress at Garcia Entertainment. Your behavior has brought shame to this company… Whether you are willing or not, you must stand up and explain everything to the public, and admit that the person in the video is you. Remember to include that everything has only to do with you and nothing to do with the company.”

Kylie finally looked up and looked into Laurence’s angry and disdainful eyes. She nodded. “I will do as you wish. But I have a request: I want an assistant, and I want to choose her for myself.”

“Behave yourself.” Laurence eased up a bit, but he continued to watch her coldly.

No matter how rebellious, as long as Kylie was still an entertainer for Garcia Entertainment, Laurence was in control of her. But in the last few years, he had not been doing very well.

“The press conference is at eight tonight. There will be a meeting later to prepare a script for you.”

“Ok.” Kylie spat out her gum into the crystal ashtray on the coffee table. She adopted an expression of indifference as soon as she’d left Laurence’s office.

Kylie would not give Laurence another chance to manipulate her life.

It was also time to pay Khloe back, for all the bad things she had done to Kylie.

Kylie stood at the end of the corridor and called Faith. “Laurence wants me to tell the media that the video is all my fault.”

“Kylie, just tell me what to do.” On her first day as Kylie’s assistant, Faith felt full of energy.

“The press conference is at eight tonight. I must acknowledge that the person in the video is me, and then… I want you to upload the things I anonymously send you…”

“Great, it’s a Jedi task! I must give it a bright headline: “The Flower Is Actually A Bitch.”

Kylie was amused. She said: “Faith, I’m warning you; you might get involved in a negative way…”

“Kylie, as long as you decide to fight, I will always stand by your side and help you get back what’s yours. You will be the next Oscar winner, I know it.”

An Oscar winner… Kylie had never thought about it before. She had just been so focused on winning this battle.

First, Laurence and Khloe had to pay the price…

***

After half an hour, Aiden arrived at the company site to pick up Khloe. He heard all about the upcoming press conference and was worried about Kylie.

Kylie was sitting in a restaurant, waiting for Ethan, when Aiden, who had just walked in, invited her to have dinner with him, in an effort to comfort her.

“I ordered your favorite caviar…”

Kylie was stunned and didn’t know what to say. She had been with Aiden for five years, and still, he didn’t even know what her favorite food was.

“What’s wrong? No appetite?”

When Kylie was about to speak, she saw a chef in a black suit coming over, carrying a silver plate. He arrived at the table, lifted the lid from the silver dish, and smiled at her. “Madame, we specially prepared foie gras for you. We wish you a good victory.”

The expression on Aiden’s face was one of embarrassment, but he couldn’t express his feelings to Kylie. He picked up a bit of caviar, and asked: “Since when do you like foie gras?”

“Thank you,” Kylie said to the chef. “I will not let you down.” Kylie did not look at Aiden.

The chef politely nodded and walked away.

“Kylie… Sorry, I know that I wasn’t very good before…” Aiden whispered, blaming himself.

“It doesn’t matter, and you just need to learn about Khloe,” Kylie thought but did not say. Instead, she calmly took up her spoon.

Chapter 87: I Know Everything

At that moment, her mobile phone suddenly lit up, indicating that she had received a text message.

“I ordered goose liver sauce for you. Come on,” Aiden probed.

Kylie’s lips instinctively went down in disgust. She bowed her head and replied: “How did you know I would be in this restaurant?”

“I know everything,” he replied coolly.

Kylie anxiously looked around the restaurant, but could not find Ethan.

Although she was not sure whether he really knew everything, Kylie could be certain that he was always keeping an eye on her.

“Who are you looking for?” Aiden interrupted her search. His handsome face was puzzled.

“I was just looking to see if there’s any paparazzi…” Kylie smiled and asked: “You having dinner with me… won’t Khloe be jealous?”

“She knows… and she asked me to persuade you. Kylie, this scandal has had a great impact on you and the company. You should endure it first, but I will help you get back on your feet once these things are over.”

“Don’t you believe that I’m not guilty?” Kylie smiled, and the dimples on her cheeks made her look more attractive.

“I believe you… but…” Aiden put down his knife and fork. “Grandfather is very angry… If you really want to have a better position in the Parker family. I suggest you change your job.”

“Oh? Grandpa also browses Instagram?” Kylie scooped a spoonful of foie gras into her mouth, then, realizing her mistake, she suddenly became elegant. Aiden didn’t know what to make of her.

He bowed his head and said: “Khloe came home that day, and updated her Instagram, just…”

“Just tell the other members of the family.” Kylie nodded, her eyes mocking.

“Kylie, don’t misunderstand Khloe, she didn’t mean to ruin you. At that time, she cried when she browsed Instagram. I forced her to tell me. I didn’t know that Grandpa and Dad were drinking coffee in the living room.”

“You don’t have to explain it to me.” Kylie shrugged. Her smile was as sweet as spring.

***

At eight that night, the conference hall at Garcia Entertainment was filled with people from various media sources.

They were not particularly interested in the private life of a small artist such as herself; they came because the incident’s hero was William.

If the video was true, it would also prove fatal for William.

At 8:05, Kylie appeared at the door to the conference room. She bowed and took a step forward.

“Kylie, are you the woman in the video?”

“Kylie, are you really relying on a male star to become famous?”

“Kylie, you have been a part of Garcia for five years now, and you have never made a difference. Do you hope to increase your popularity with this incident?”

The scene was suddenly a mess, and the public relations team had to try to maintain order. Finally, the people calmed down and gave Kylie the opportunity to explain:

“First of all, I apologize for the trouble and injury caused by this scandal. Moreover, I recorded the video, and the black girl in the video is me. But the man is not a film star; he just looks a lot like someone we know. It was purely my decision, and has nothing to do with the company, or The Tea Maiden crew.”

When Kylie finished, the crowd was immediately noisy again.

They had never seen anyone like Kylie take the initiative to admit their mistakes. Other artists had always defended themselves to the very end, even when the evidence was conclusive.

Kylie was relieved and thought that it was all over. She didn’t expect that Laurence would have more planned for her.

He asked the department manager, who was responsible for Kylie, to go on stage, and say in front of everyone: “I hope this is the last time. I hope that you can improve. From here on out, behave yourself.”

The implication was that Kylie was always doing this kind of thing.

Laurence, as a father, was very cold and aloof.

Kylie did not respond, but she respectfully bowed to the media, then turned on her heel, and walked out the back door.

All of a sudden, the Internet was filled with condemning comments.

Originally, Kylie’s style had not been particularly well-regarded. In this case, those who only looked at the surface of things were even angrier. Even Peaking Pictures thought how ridiculous it was to smash the opponent in this way.

When Ethan emerged from his office, he heard some of the news. He looked to Elliot for information. Elliot told him the story, then asked: “Lord Ethan, do we need to help Madame?”

“No hurry,” Ethan replied in a low voice. He added that he believed in Kylie.

He had to get permission from her if he wanted to help. Besides, she had vowed that she could handle it, and he wanted to see what she would do.

Of course, he had a responsibility to protect his woman, but she wasn’t weak, and he knew that no one could bully her.

Because of the scandal, Garcia Entertainment was once again in the limelight. Although this wasn’t helping their reputation, it was better than being forgotten.

Laurence was now getting the popularity he wanted, while Khloe was also achieving her goal of crushing Kylie.

Director Johnson called Kylie on the phone, to inform her that the extra part he had originally added for her was now canceled, due to the fact that the scandal was affecting their ratings.

Almost all the headlines on the Internet were about Kylie. Comments flew from everywhere: “Her performance is shit,” “Her character is shameful,” “That unrepentant woman…”

At the Parkers, old Mr. Parker was furious after watching the live broadcast and resultantly broke an antique vase from the Qing Dynasty. He also threatened to break both her legs if she ever dared to step into the Parker house.

Kylie, relatively quiet about the whole affair, stood in the bathroom, and carefully did her hair. She was calm because she knew without a doubt that what she had bear would soon be over.

But for now, she would have to be as inconspicuous as a street mouse…

“Excuse me. You are in my way.” The cleaning lady moped the floor around where she stood several times, then even wiped Kylie’s feet.

“You’re really disgusting, so there’s no need to put on makeup. No one will invite you to their set. You only know how to lure a man. Bitch.”

Chapter 88: Hire Support For Positive Comment

Kylie’s eyes were cold. Sure, she was scum, but that didn’t mean that someone could just insult her. She took out her cell phone and called Laurence. “Laurence, did you know that even a cleaning lady can humiliate me now?”

“I’ll notify the personnel department, and get her fired.” He disliked Kylie, but only he was allowed to treat her that way.

It was well known that Kylie was not a person who was willing to suffer a loss. She was capable of anything if anyone dared to challenge her limits.

Kylie had talked with him on speaker. Then she hung up the phone and looked at the cleaner with a cold, hard face. “Before you insult others, think about your position. Even if I’m nothing, I can easily get you fired.”

The cleaner was shocked. Cold sweat dripped from the tip of the nose. How could she not have assumed that this failed woman still had the power to get her fired?

“Sorry, Miss Flinch, I am so sorry. I will never dare to say such things again… Please give me another chance.”

“Life is full of ups and downs. You can never know another’s life. How dare you laugh at people when they’re at their lowest?”

Kylie didn’t really allow her to be fired; she simply wanted this woman to understand that no matter the circumstances, she should be kind to others.

As soon as she left Garcia Entertainment, Kylie made a phone call to Faith. “I am going home. You should upload the picture first, then the video a little later. There should be some time between them.”

“I see. So that she’ll think that everything’s been solved before we fight back, and teach her a lesson.” Faith was very excited. “Khloe will be forced to pay for all the things she’s taken from you… Kylie, I just saw that there’s still a support group for you on Instagram. You still have some loyal followers.”

“Faith, be careful.”

Kylie hung up the phone, and her lips gradually stretched into a smile.

***

At Parker’s house, Khloe sat on the sofa and cried. A bunch of tissues was strewn in front of her, almost covering the whole coffee table.

Taylor’s hand was bandaged. She was in a bad mood, but she held back her temper in an effort to comfort Khloe. “She wasn’t even ashamed. What are you crying about?”

“I… I didn’t expect… my sister would…” Khloe covered her face with a tissue. Her voice cracked as though she was in pain. However, no one could see how she truly felt; she was smiling inside.

Kylie, you will never get the chance to defeat me, she thought.

Noticing that her shoulders were shaking, Taylor patted her on the back. “I knew she wasn’t a nice person the first time I met her…”

Taylor turned to look at Aiden, and asked: “What does your uncle love her for? Maybe for her attractive looks or seductive manners…?”

“Mom, she is not that kind of person.” Sitting off to the side, Aiden’s furrowed his brow, smoking one cigarette after another.

“You…” Taylor glanced at him, then pointed at Khloe. She was angry but continued: “Khloe is still there. What are you talking about?”

Khloe tossed a tissue onto the table. She sobbed and said: “Auntie, I don’t mind. After all, she was his ex-girlfriend.”

“She had a thing for Aiden, but Aiden never responded to her advances, right?” Aiden didn’t say anything. Taylor kicked his leg.

Aiden nodded mournfully.

“Moreover, in my eyes, you’re my only daughter-in-law.” Taylor looked at Khloe’s flat belly. “The sooner you give birth to a baby, the better…”

Khloe’s face became red, and she looked at Aiden with a shy look. She whispered: “Auntie…”

“Don’t be so shy,” Taylor said with a kind smile. “It’s late. Please stay over here tonight. I am hoping to be a grandma soon…” Then she winked at Khloe.

Aiden was trapped in his own mind and didn’t hear what they were talking about.

“So…” Khloe bit her lip, hesitated, then turned to look at Aiden.

But Aiden kept silent. Khloe was a little embarrassed, so she picked up her bag and said: “Sorry, Auntie, but I’d better go home. Aiden is not feeling great today. Maybe I should leave him alone for now.”

“Aiden doesn’t care about that bitch.” Taylor took Khloe’s hand and led her upstairs. As they were walking, she told her some jokes about Aiden: “He sleeps uneasily. Sometimes, when he was young, he would even fall out of bed…”

Khloe responded with a smile, but she still couldn’t help but look back at Aiden, who continued to sit in the living room like a statue.

Since the news conference, he had been silent. He had chain-smoked the whole time.

The living room was very quiet.

Aiden exhaled the smoke with a deep breath. He kept imagining Kylie’s familiar yet strange face, from when they had had dinner together that day.

He didn’t know why, but every time he pictured her smile, his heart ached.

Suddenly, he stubbed out his cigarette and picked up the phone and dialed.

“Hire supporters to post positive comments for Kylie.”

When Kylie returned to Toprak Mansion, Ethan was sitting on the sofa with papers laid all around him. He looked like an absolute God. Kylie thickly swallowed as she took a look. Like an obedient dog, Pupu was silently resting beside his master’s feet but immediately bounded forward as he smelled Kylie.

“Aww, Pupu, did you miss me?” Kylie spoke in a baby voice, patting his far. She laughed as she received two loud barks in response. After a few seconds, Pupu grabbed her purse, which she had dropped on the floor and carried it to the sofa, placing it beside Ethan as if telling Kylie to come to sit.

Kylie raised her eyebrows and smiled, “Wow, Pupu, you’re as smart as your master,” she whispered to herself.

Ethan was watching the exchange with no expressions on his face, but his warm, bright eyes showed a different story. Shaking himself, Ethan spoke up, “Thanks for your compliment.” Kylie walked behind Ethan, encircled his neck, and leaned down seductively, brushing her lips against his cold cheek.

Ethan leaned back, savoring her touch before speaking, “Sit,” he said simply in a cold voice, but his expression full of tenderness. Kylie walked forward from behind the sofa and slid down beside him, brushing the papers away, knowing he was probably cringing at the mess she was making, but he did not say a word.

Chapter 89: Why Are You Still Up?

Leaning her head again his shoulders, Kylie spoke up, “So, I’ve got an assistant.”

“Who?”

“Faith Cruz. I don’t think you know her. She had been very famous before, but then suddenly disappeared for a period of time.”

Ethan slightly lowered his head and asked with a heavy tone, “Is she reliable?”

“The battle has just begun, it’s a test for me, and also for her!”

“How! What!? This is too risky!” Ethan sometimes struggled at the risks Kylie took being a man who liked order and control.

“Don’t worry, I’ve got a strong patron, right? Uncle Ethan?” Kylie smirked. “If there’s anything unexpected that I have to face, I could always turn to you for help!”

A trace of displeasure appeared on Ethan’s face, “How dare you call me Uncle? Do I look like an Uncle to you?”

Kylie was immensely enjoying pissing Ethan off; the man was too easy! “Of course not! Though I have to admit if there were more uncles like you in the world… I sure would not mind…” she trailed off.

“Don’t even fucking finish that sentence!” Ethan growled as he captured her lips in a searing hot kiss.

That night, both Kylie and Ethan were relaxing in their bed, with him reading his documents as usual and Kylie browsing Instagram on her tablet. Even though the two were focused on their own activities, to an outsider, it would seem like they were very close and intimate. Kylie was snuggled up against Ethan’s shoulders while Ethan would lovingly stroke Kylie’s hair in between his reading.

There was an understood and unspoken understanding and love between Kylie and Ethan, something that was seldom seen between couples nowadays.

***

Aiden did not know that Khloe was going to stay overnight. When he had arranged everything, he walked inside the bedroom to find Khloe lying, posing seductively on his king-sized bed.

“Khloe?” Aiden asked confusedly. “What are you doing here?”

“I…” Khloe sat up, with her delicate shoulders half exposed. She said, somewhat embarrassed and shy, “Aunt Taylor invited me to stay. If…if you don’t like it, I can go now…” Khloe covered her shoulders and moved to get off from the bed with a sad and longing expression on her face.

Aiden immediately sighed and walked forward, “No love, that’s not…I’m sorry, that came out wrong,” he said and grabbed her arms, pulling her closer to him. Khloe hesitated, playing the part perfectly, and just as she suspected, Aiden walked her towards the bed and sat down, pulling her on his lap.

“I want you to stay. I missed you so much, God, I want you now.” Aiden breathed in her scent and leaned in, kissing that sweet spot behind her ear.

Although Khloe was dying to marry Aiden, she did not want to get pregnant accidentally before her wedding. Her career was on the rise if the future was as promising as it seemed, she did not want to drown everything due to having a child out of wedlock. She would not let anything become the barrier to achieve what she wanted most in this world, not even Aiden.

Aiden was a man; after all, a man with certain needs. And what Khloe was NOT giving him was literally driving him crazy! As soon as Aiden had leaned over, Khloe had responded vaguely and moved her head the other way. Why was she giving him mixed signals like this? Feeling frustrated, he got up and started unbuttoning his clothes while walking to the bathroom.

Khloe discreetly smiled as she saw Aiden walking away, whew, she was saved from making an excuse this time, though it bothered her a little. Shrugging her shoulders and reminding herself of her end goal, Khloe walked to one side of the bed and laid down, quickly falling asleep in the silky soft covers.

After showering, Aiden walked out, frowning when he did not see Khloe. Thinking she must be downstairs, Aiden grabbed his shirt and was about to open the door when his eyes fell upon her sleeping figure on his bed.

“Really?” He muttered to himself. Was she here to just fall asleep on his bed? There were other things they could do other than intimacy. Aiden shook his head and turned towards the other side though sleep was the furthest thing from his mind.

Khloe did not know what time it was when her eyes opened. Judging from the dark windows, she assumed it still to be in the middle of the night. Cozying in further into the warm duvet, she turned and switched her side when something caught her bleary eyes. Aiden! He was up! Aiden was up and browsing his tablet quietly with his bedside lamp turned on.

“Aiden! Why are you still up?” Khloe asked as she reached out her hands toward him. Aiden looked up, surprised, and smiled, “Just not sleepy. You’ve had a long day, I’m sure. Go to sleep.” He grabbed her hands and kissed them while rubbing her hair to lull her back to sleep. A surge of guilt went through Khloe as she saw Aiden being so tender towards her. At that moment, she felt like an absolute bitch for not giving him what he wanted. She was lucky that she had someone like Aiden in her life. She thought to herself as she drifted off into a peaceful sleep.

Little did she know that her happiness would go down the drain pretty soon.

***

There was nothing like the blissful feeling of waking up naturally on a Saturday morning. Khloe’s eyes opened up to bright sunlight streaming through the blinds casting a warm halo right beside her side of the bed, which made her smile. She turned over, wanting to see Aiden but frowned when again, she saw he was already up and sitting on the loveseat. However, what alarmed her was the way he was sitting.

“Aiden? What’s wrong?” Khloe asked in a soft tone with dread filling her heart, and she hoped it was nothing bad.

Aiden looked up, and Khloe gasped at his disheveled appearance. His skin was pale, and he had dark circles under his eyes. His hair was a mess as if he had been running his fingers through, tugging at the ends. He looked at Khloe with a dead expression in his eyes and simply tossed her his tablet.

Chapter 90: It’s Not True

Khloe slowly tugged the tablet toward her, wallowing in fear. What was this all about? She glanced at the screen that was already open. It was an article, an article about her titled ‘Family Drama: The Case of the Horrible Step-family?’

“What the hell is this?” Khloe whispered loudly.

The article started off with telling about the Finch family and Garcia Entertainment, before Khloe and her mother had become part of it. It talked about Kylie and her mother, who had been a lady in every sense of the word. Then it talked about her death and how that had affected Kylie so negatively only propagated by her father’s new wife and daughter.

The article also depicted several pictures of Kylie’s rebellious phase alongside pictures of her and Alice attending exclusive parties wearing expensive clothes. Beneath them, the caption read: ‘Cinderella and the evil stepmother?” The article went on and on telling the story of how poor Kylie was ostracized by her own father. However, what the next paragraph stated made her blood cold as ice.

A picture of Khloe with William Woolf was posted with their faces enlarged. The article explained how Khloe was worried that the scandal would be known by her fiancé and his family, so she forced Kylie to bear the blame with the help of her father. The article ended by sympathizing with Kylie and calling Alice and Khloe the ‘step-family from hell!’

Khloe scrolled down further to see comments had been popping up as she read. The article was by TMZ, and despite the name, it was still considered a reputable source of information. Every single comment that her eyes landed on was calling her and her mother an insane bitch while they felt sorry for Kylie for living with such people. Many were bashing her father as well for not taking care of his daughter.

Khloe was numb, absolutely numb after reading all this. How the hell did this happen?

“Khloe, is this true?” Aiden spoke up huskily, his voice shaky and low.

Khloe scrambled off the bed and ran towards Aiden, falling at his feet. She gasped at his hands and spluttered out, “No, no, it’s not true!”

Aiden scoffed, “Then how do you explain that picture? How do you explain kissing Woolf? Or is that another person that just so happens to look exactly like you?”

“That is… that…” Khloe stuttered with cold sweat forming all over her forehead. How the hell should she explain this? How COULD she explain this? She could blame it on Kylie, but her face was too clear in the picture, and Aiden was not stupid. As she was thinking this, her cell phone went off. Glancing at Aiden, Khloe picked up her phone.

It was a notification from Instagram; apparently, the original poster of the article had posted more photos. There were photos of when Kylie and Aiden were together, then immediately below, were photos of Khloe and Aiden at their engagement party. There were thousands of comments below calling her a ‘bitch,’ ‘house-wrecker,’ and on and on.

The worst thing out of all was Khloe could not think of a single excuse to get herself out this shithole she had found herself in.

Her cell phone was ringing nonstop, so was Aiden’s. She chose not to pick up, but messages were also pouring in, messages she could not help but read.

‘So, Ms. Finch, are you pretending to be aggrieved while forcing Kylie to take the blame for you?

‘The time in the photos tells everything, you still want to deny it?’

She could not help but reply back to this one message, ‘No! No! These are all Kylie Finch’s conspiracies! I have done nothing wrong!” Before she had pressed send on the message, her phone started ringing again. Frustrated, Khloe threw her phone on the bed screaming in anger. Trembling in rage and fear, Khloe turned around and faced Aiden, tears slipping down her face.

“Aiden, you gotta trust me…but I…I have to go. I don’t feel well. I gotta go home. I’ll explain everything to you later.”

Aiden simply stared at her, not saying a word in response. Somehow, even her tears seemed fake to him now.

Khloe grabbed her stuff as quickly as she could and ran downstairs. As soon as she got inside the car, she made a call to her dad, “Daddy, have you seen the news on the Internet? What should I do?” She burst out crying.

“Honey, it’s just fake news, no big deal! The company will handle it…” However, Laurence was not as calm as his voice sounded.

The scandal would not only affect Khloe’s future; more importantly, it implied that Kylie, his first-born daughter, was declaring war on him. He did not care about losing Kylie, but he was afraid of losing 50% shares of Garcia Entertainment.

“Daddy! I know she did it! This must be posted by Kylie! She deliberately tried to smear me!”

Laurence was quiet for a few seconds before he spoke, “Khloe, tell your daddy the truth, was that indecent video of Kylie…was that scheme planned by you?”

“Daddy… I… I…” Khloe was at a loss for words. But that was all Laurence needed to know the answer to his question, and he hung his phone up in anger.

Laurence then immediately dialed Kylie’s number. The bell rang and rang no answer. “Not even picking your father’s calls, you ungrateful brat!” Laurence muttered to himself.

Kylie was browsing on her tablet on one hand while her cellphone laid beside her. She could guess who it was and why that certain person was calling her nonstop, which made her smile. But no matter how much he called, Kylie simply did not intend to answer the phone. The action made her sad; at one point, this little girl had yearned to be noticed by her father, the only man she had ever known in her life.

Hearing the sound of the vibrating cell, Ethan tilted his head to look at Kylie. His one arm encircled Kylie’s shoulder, slightly pulling her to his side. The sound was now getting annoying, so she turned her phone on silent and placed it upside down on her bedside table. She then stretched and turned to Ethan, cuddling into his warm embrace.

Her head clung to his chest, listening to his powerful heartbeats, making sense of loss in her heart gradually disappear.
