Ch. 131..140
Chapter 131
Naomi realized that they had reached what looked like an underground room in the Alpha’s mansion.
She looked arounnd, confused. This was the same room the Omegas previously lived in before a compatible Omega quarters was built for them.
Why was she here?
She glared at him, rubbing her wrist that had slightly redened due to how hard he had dragged her, holding tightly onto them.
"You’ll stay here." He ordered, and there was silence as she just looked at him, speechless.
"Is this about me leaving?" When she didn’t get a reply, she glared at him again. "Why do you care?"
"I don’t!" He yelled at her and she stepped back cautiously. "I’ve told you the reason, you are not leaving."
"They will come for me," She was serious, but he only chuckled. "You are putting your pack In danger. Let me go."
"I’ll be putting my pack in danger by letting you go to them. No way."
She looked at the door to the room, it was open, but she had to get through Daniel to get there.
She turned to him.
*
"What’s that... " John said, tilting his head up to a small speck of something that seemed to be growing bigger and bigger as they drove close.
Jephthah tilted his head up too, narrowing his eyes.
"I think it’s a bird." John added.
Jephthah’s eyes suddenly widened.
"Stop the car... Stop the car John!"
The car screeched as he abruptly stopped the car, and the next minute, Jephthah yelled.
"Get out!" And he rolled out of the other side of the car, it was so quick, the twins hit the floor on either side.
The pack warriors behind had stopped their cars too when John did, but seeing them roll out, the clever ones followed suit while most of them remained inside their respective cars, confused.
Not until a huge force dropped on one of the cars, which was the twins’ she was heading for, and the rest of the cars were suddenly rolled away, almost like they were flushed by a huge wave of water from no where.
Many died at once, drowning, especially the ones that were left in the car.
The twins turned to the source of the kills.
"Kitsune." Jephthah said In slight disgust.
This one has short hair and like the one they’ve seen so far, she was very gorgeous.
She smiled cruelly as she floated down, before stalking towards them, keeping her distance.
"I see you’ve met my kind previously. Which element did she control? Fire? Wind?" She had a sneer on her face.
"I’m guessing you guys have something to do with Alpha Drake’s death?" Jephthah asked.
"Guilty as charged~" She drawled seductively before raising her hand, glaring at them all.
"Sorry, but I have to drown you all to death now... "
Before she said anything else, a warrior held her from behind and threw her down to the ground. She was unprepared for the sudden attack and gasped In shock as she felt pain.
Pain.
She smiled, slowly standing.
"It was nice... to at least experience this pain after such a long time," She cracked her neck. "But I wasn’t ready. Come at me again."
*
Sakuarr flew like a missile, her smile not even faltering for a single second as she kept her steady pace forward, fire surrounding her entire body like a shield.
*
Daniel starts leaving, but she held onto him.
"Y- You can’t leave me here."
"Why not?"
"You can take me with you, and leave me anywhere else. But please. don’t leave me here. Aunt Marcy is here... and so are other living beings. You can take me to the fields and hide me there. But don’t leave me here, please."
"Where can I possibly hide you there?"
"You’re going to have to think of a way because you’re not leaving me here."
He was contemplating on this for such a while, that she feared he might just ignore her and leave her locked up here like he planned, but after some time, he gruffly said,
"Make sure that mask stays on. You won’t be sitting in the car, you’ll be at the back, just Incase they can sense your prescence with just your scent."
She was thankful, but didn’t get the chance to because he had already left, she followed behind.
When they got to the car, Dora was in the Passenger’s seat, on her phone, while Barton was standing outside, leaning against the car.
When Dora looked out, her gaze fell on Naomi immediately.
"Is she following us as well?"
"We’re dropping her off somewhere." Daniel gruffly answered before getting into the car, sitting at the back with his hands folded while Barton got into the front seat, turning on the ignition to drive.
He narrowed his eyes when he saw Naomi meekly climbing into the back of the car. Dora didn’t notice and was just on her phone, contended with Daniel’s answer.
’What the f**k Daniel.’ He yelled at him inside his head, not wanting to attract Dora.
’She wants this.’
’You gave her no choice.’ He started the car and zoomed off the mansion, not the slightest, happy.
’Would you rather she stayed back at the mansion?’
The question was all it took for Barton to shut up.
However, the silence in the car was disrupted by Dora’s phone ringing.
No one showed interest even as she picked it up.
"Mum?"
Silence as someone spoke hurriedly on the other line.
"Mum what’s wrong!"
The panic in her voice caused the two men to focus their attention on her.
"No!!!" Dora suddenly starts screaming, it was so loud, Barton had to stop the car. At once, Dora opened the door to the car and stepped out, screaming into the phone.
"You can’t be serious mum! You’re joking right? Right?!" She screamed into the phone again.
Barton stepped out of the car.
"What’s wrong Dora? Could you stop screaming and just tell us what’s wrong."
Dora just screamed again and threw the phone down, it crashed and smashed to pieces, but she didn’t mind.
"What is happening?!" She yelled instead, falling on her knees, and burying her face in her hand.
Daniel stepped out this time and stood beside Barton.
"That was your mum," He started out in a calm voice. "What. Did. She. Say."
"My father ," Dora turned to them "He’s dead," Tears fell down her eyes, Rolling down her cheeks, and for the first time, something pierced their hearts watching her cry painfully and genuinely, like she carried a heavy burden in her heart. "He was killed."
Chapter 132
There was someone standing some distance away, barring their path.
Koan narrowed his eyes just as Raiden did, but Talia was the one who recognized her from afar.
"Nancy? Nancy! It’s Nancy. Stop the car. Stop the car."
The car skidded to a halt along with several others behind them. Talia didn’t waste even a milli second as she burst out of the car, arms outstretched, open wide to hug her.
Koan, Raiden and Liliana slowly stepped out of the car, exchanging similar looks.
Suspicion.
However, their disbelief was confirmed when with a swift punch, her knee bent forward, one leg stretched back, the other hand fisted Infront of her face, Talia was sent flying back into a car.
Liliana gasped, her hands over her mouth at the horrific scene played out before her so suddenly.
"That’s not Nancy." Raiden concluded immediately, stepping forward, behind the pack warriors that immediately moved forward to their new threat.
Nancy glanced down to see the gun that had fallen down From Talia’s hold. With a sneer, she bent down and picked the gun, however, before she could rise, she was hit and sent staggering back.
She turned to the source of whatever had attacked her, unannounced, with a glare, only to see several pack warriors surrounding her, trapping her in a circle. It was like she was in the middle of danger.
Koan’s expression turned grave as he whispered,
"What have they done to her..."
"You mean... that’s Nancy?" Raiden was on disbelief once more.
He didn’t reply immediately, but turned to glare at Talia who Liliana helped on her feet.
"Maybe you’d think twice before running into someone’s arms... "
Seeing she had her mouth open to protest, he added.
"Someone you haven’t seen for several days, who have been in the captivity of the Kitsunes. She could be under some sort of spell... "
"Kitsunes are magical... but it ends there, in controlling elements... could they have a witch in alliance?" Liliana said.
A boom was heard, and they looked ahead, their faces paling as they saw how she singlehandedly wiped half their men in less than minutes.
"Whatever happens," Koan turned to them as he made to move forward. "Don’t hurt her."
He moved with dexterity and speed towards the bloodbath zone, Raiden behind him.
"I’m not stupid." Talia mumbled, annoyed. Her arm hurt from the hit, but not as much as her feelings were hurt when Nancy had punched her away from her like she was an enemy. She could see the emotionless expression in her friend’s eyes.
To them, they were dangerous strangers who must all be wiped out of existence.
The men were strong, they tried to subdue her to her knees, but their effort combined could not hold a candle light to her extraordinary strenght.
She handled them like playthings, tossing them left and right like rag dolls, shredding them into pieces like paper.
And to top it all off, there was a sinister smile on her face, coupled with a mad glint in her eyes as if she enjoyed what she as doing, Killing her kind like nothing.
More men came at her, but Alpha Koan coldly ordered using the mind link.
’You all are being wiped out by a single woman like flies. The rest of you should leave, drive down to Ruby Stone’s pack immediately. We’ll handle things from here.’
Under his heavily emanating aura, the men trembled, before running towards the few cars left, which hadn’t been destroyed from Nancy’s rampage.
Nancy tore off the head from one of the warriors before glancing up, the smile on her face falling on seeing cars screeching as they sped away.
"Huh?" With a confused Expression, she sauntered forward, but stepped back, almost jerked back when she narrowly missed a bullet shot at her.
She glared up to see Liliana and Talia, each holding guns, aiming it at her.
"Nancy, we honestly don’t want to hurt you" Liliana started, and the two armed women exchanged glances as Nancy sneered. "We need you to follow us."
"Tsk. Boring." She almost yawned. However, someone wrapped arms around her waist before she could move another muscle.
The familiar scent, the familiar tightness of his arm about her waist caused her to stiffen in his arms for a few moments, before she finally acted, moving her elbows back to hit him.
However, he had predicted her move, and with a graceful movement of his hand, her chest was quickly against his, her face an inch away from his.
Her gaze darkened as she stared up at his face in disgust.
As they exchanged breaths, panting in each other’s faces, he felt a twig of pain in his chest, seeing the look of indifference and hate in her eyes.
Her eyes were glinting with a slight sneer and madness, so full of bloodlust and a murderous intent.
She struggled out of his grip but he held her wrists, and pulled her closer.
"What have they done to you?" He asked again, his eyes spamming in hers, looking for that pink bright color that suited her personality. Looking for the genuine smile she always had on...
She suddenly moved to kick him, but he stepped back, so she missed. The next moment, she came at him with her fist but he dodged it, tilting his head to the side. She came at him again with her other fist, but he dodged it by tilting his head the other way.
Growling, she punched forward, harder and faster with both fists for so long, Liliana wasn’t sure Koan was going to keep up tilting his head side by side without actually having to fight her.
She shot at the area behind Nancy, and Talia shot an area beside Nancy as well.
Like they planned, Nancy turned to them with a murderous look, completely forgetting about the Alpha behind her.
However, before Koan could grab her from behind, she sped towards Liliana and Talia, catching the two girls by the throats and lifting them up!
The girls’ legs were dangling, and their throats turned white as they each held Nancy’s grip on them, trying to peel her hands off.
"Nancy!!!" Koan growled and charged towards her. He didn’t want to hurt her. She had killed his men, and had wounded many. He didn’t want to touch her, because he knew they did something to her. She wasn’t in her right senses, but he wasn’t going to stand and watch her hurt his cousin.
Chapter 133
On hearing his furious voice, Nancy finally smiled, almost like she had been waiting for that tone in his voice.
Anger.
"Ready to fight me now?" She asked without turning back.
"Put them down." He ordered
"I will. AFTER I must have ripped their heads off their body."
Raiden suddenly flung himself at her such that Talia and Liliana rolled on their sides while he was pinning Nancy to the ground, holding her wrist down.
She tried to move, but she was pinned down unexpectedly, thus, with Raiden being ontop, he had the upper hand.
"Who sent you here?" Koan asked, coming to stoop low so that he was staring her In the face, watching her struggle.
"Why don’t I take you there... then you can ask your questions." Nancy sneeringly offered.
"Take me where?"
Nancy didn’t reply, and only thrust out both legs, kicking Raiden off her. He didn’t fall, but rolled on the ground till he was on his knees and fist.
Before she could move, Koan brought down his hand to pin her down, but she rolled to the left. He brought down the other hand and she rolled right before grabbing his neck between her ankles and throwing him to the ground.
However, he wasn’t going down alone, he grabbed her ankle as she fell, slamming her down onto the ground; on her face.
"Ugh!" Nancy spat as she got dirt in her mouth. She rolled over on her back, only to see Talia, Liliana, Raiden and Koan looming over her.
"Tsk! You four against me," She crossed her legs on the floor, leaning back with a seductive smile which caught Koan off guard for a full minute as he stared at her exposed thighs and cleavage. "It’s not fair now, is it?"
"Nancy. We’re not going to hurt you... we’re your friends. I’m your best friend, Nancy" Talia softly said, feeling her eyes get heavy as she stared at this stranger before her who looked so much like her best friend.
They all saw it. Something flickered, almost like a spec of azalea pink before it returned to the normal blue-crimson glow color.
"Every single one of your deaths will be so worthy to watch." She just said in-between chuckles.
As she made to get up, Koan and Raiden advanced towards her, but Talia stood in-between the men and Nancy.
"You said you wanted a mate, didn’t you?" Everyone stiffened under her words, especially Nancy. She was just staring at Talia like she was a stranger. "You said you wanted someone who’d love you. You wanted People to love you Nancy," She pulled Koan to stand beside her and Koan stiffened as Nancy’s gaze locked with his. "We’re all here for you. We want you back Nancy. Please... "
For a minute, there was a stand still silence. No one moved, yet their hearts were unexplainably beating like they were going to fall off their mouths.
Suddenly she staggered back, her head between her hands, her waist bending forward as she began whispering incoherent words to herself.
They all exchanged glances before Liliana went close, her hand mid-way, about to touch her.
"Nancy... what... what’s wrong."
Once her hand rested on her shoulder, Nancy slowly raised her head after a while.
"Liliana!" Koan moved to grab her, but Nancy already had her grip around the hand on her shoulder.
"Don’t... touch. Me." With that, she flung Liliana up before jumping up, spinning round to land a kick which sent Liliana flying backwards.
Before she hit a car, just like she learnt in training, she wounded her hands around her head, curling up like a ball before slamming onto the sides of a car, minimizing the pain before passing out.
Talia’s eyes widened on seeing the fall, while Raiden held Koan back, seeing the anger In his eyes. If he let Koan close to her, he would kill her without hesitation.
Nancy had other ideas though. She grabbed Talia by her hair and dragged her close to throw her like a rag doll, just like she had done to Nancy, but Talia was quick to hold onto her hair too, flinging her up instead.
Before Nancy could drop, Talia caught her and pinned her to the ground, throwing dirt into her eyes immediately.
A scream echoed in the entire forest as Talia got off her body, staggering back, finally falling on her legs and hands, scrambling backwards with tears running down her eyes as she watched Nancy force herself back on her feet, rubbing her eyes, pain etched on her face.
Koan finally moved out of Raiden’s grip before holding onto Nancy’s head. Nancy was so preoccupied with the dirt stinging her eyes that she didn’t bother to escape Koan’s grip.
The next minute, he whispered into her ear.
"I’m sorry, Nancy."
And boom!
He slammed her head onto the ground- hard, and she saw black before falling into unconsciousness.
There was grave silence as Raiden came back with Liliana in his arms, unconscious as well, Talia beside him. They all looked with grave faces, stained with dirt, Liliana’s face concealed with blood, as Koan picked Nancy from the floor, holding her princess-style in his arms
The look on his face... no one was willing to say a word as he quietly got into a car. The keys were still In the ignition. He helped Nancy in the car, but not without tying her up with some vines, just Incase she woke up mid-way.
Before he shut the door, his brows creased with pain, his eyes sadnening by the second as he stared at her peaceful face which had dirt stains.
Sighing, he shut the door, and went to the other side to sit.
"Let’s go." He ordered without looking at anyone.
Talia and Raiden along with Liliana got into the car without any hesitation before it zoomed off.
*
The witch was seated in Shadow Slayer’s pack with the glass orb in her hands. She was staring intently at it while Luna Luan paced up and down, her heart beating frantically, her nails in her hand, her other hand holding up a frail child wrapped in blankets.
Suddenly, her eyes opened, and the Luna walked forward to seat before her, the glass ball in-between them.
"Alpha Henry is still alive," She began. "But I see bloodshed Luna. So many people are being killed and ripped to shreds like nothing. We are losing our people, and I fear we haven’t even lost Enough. The Kitsunes are out, and they have a plan which is progressing smoothly. However, their plan will only be disrupted, if we are able to keep these two with us. These are the long lost heirs of Foxtune, and they’re on the search for them. If they find them, we’re all in trouble."
"Who are they then? Are they... Have they been in our territory all these while? Are they werewolves? Hybrids?"
The witch turned the glass ball so she could see the two people standing side by side .
The woman’s eyes narrowed at Naomi. She couldn’t recognize her, but on seeing the male before her, her eyes widened.
"A... Alpha Koan?"
Chapter 134
The car screeched to a halt, the tyres rolling on the grass for the last few seconds before it stopped.
A few seconds, and a pair of legs stepped down before moving to the back, opening it .
Another pair of legs joined him at the back, crawling out from the boot.
Soon Barton and Dora joined them, and they stood there staring at Daniel and Naomi, Dora with disinterest, Barton, curiosity.
Dora’s eyes looked bloodshot and dark, almost like she had crying recently- which she had. There was a lifeless look in her eyes, and she didn’t even mind that Barton was glancing at her from his side.
"Where the hell do we even start? We haven’t got time and Ruby Stone’s pack is still some miles away... " he stopped mid way before turning to Dora. "Or do we make a stop at ... "
"No," her voice was croaky, and Naomi couldn’t help but stare at her, for the first time not with a sour expression or a forced neutral expression but a surprised look. She looked at Barton, probably for an explanation, but he just shook his head, implying he couldn’t tell her- at least not now, not here.
"Let’s just... go to Ruby Stone’s." Her voice was stiff, and she folded her arms looking down.
Suddenly there was a call. Daniel hurriedly picked up, because all day today all his calls had been either urgent or very important with grave news.
What was the worst he could hear now.
"Daniel!" It was his aunt. Aunt Marcy
"Aunt?" He noted the panic in her voice, and his expression couldn’t help but turn dark. He heard screams in the background and something like an explosion.
"Aunt!" He heard a huger explosion, and the next minute, another shrill scream again. It wasn’t his aunt, but she didn’t say a word after uttering his name. A growl was heard, low and deep, and intimidating. It made his toes curl involuntarily and his hands turned sweaty.
The line went dead before he could say anymore word.
He reluctantly turned to the others who had been staring at him In expectancy, including Dora, waiting for an explanation from him.
His gaze moved to Naomi before moving somewhere as he reluctantly said in a low voice,
"I think Dark Risers’s is under attack."
Naomi turned away to the car and buried her face in her hands, her shoulders trembling in fear.
"That was my mum who called. We have to go back... " Barton sounded as serious as ever, not a hint of of the usual quirky smirk or amusement on his face.
Daniel turned to Naomi. His face was grim and grave as he walked towards her, only to spin around and see the red teary eyes. He sighed and leaned back.
"I don’t know why you’re crying!" Dora started, walking forward, moving Daniel aside so she could stand before Naomi.
"Your tears roll down your cheeks and you feel satisfied that we’re watching you cry? Do you want us to feel pity for you? My father was f**king killed minutes ago!!!"
"Dora." Barton reached forward but she slapped his hand away only to look back up at Naomi.
She wasn’t even listening to the two men anymore and was only focused on pouring out her sorrows to the terrified woman before her.
"You don’t cry... You shouldn’t cry because this is what you wanted. The Kitsunes are all over the pack causing havoc and Killing people, wasting innocent lives!!! And you’re crying??!" She grabbed Naomi by her hand and pulled her so that she wasn’t leaning against the car anymore but facing Dora squarely.
Naomi grabbed onto Dora’s wrist, trying to shake her hand off her grip, but Dora punched her when her nails pierced into her wrist in the struggle and she fell backwards, her hair down, covering her face.
"Dora that’s enough," Barton grabbed her wrists and pulled her so that she was involuntarily in his embrace, no way to move.
Daniel just stared at Naomi on the floor, unsure of how to feel about Dora’s words, but yet her actions in the end.
His phone rings and his face grimaced as he picks it up.
"Where are you?"
It was Alpha Joseph.
"Still at Dark Risers’s pack." Daniel replied, running his hand through his hair, nervous and frustrated.
"The f**k. What’s going on? I tried calling Alpha Koan but he isn’t picking up, I called the Silver Moon’s pack twin’s but they weren’t picking up as well, even Alpha Cardin isn’t picking up. Alpha Henry’s already been informed about the attack and has pack warriors around the area. I’m yet to arrive at his pack, I had to stop at Moon Howler’s pack, but he said you all have arrived yet. What the f**k is actually happening?"
Daniel put the pieces together easily. Usually, he’d be the one to arrive late at such meetings or important gatherings, but if Alpha Koan was late, and the rest happened to also not be available to pick up, it only means one thing...
"I think we’re being watched."
"What?"
"It only makes sense. The Kitsunes are watching us. Why do you think they killed the Alphas easily enough without having to even defend themselves. They are watching the Alphas. They know what we’re doing right now as I speak. They also know we’re all heading to Alpha Henry’s domain, so they’re trying to stop us. There’s a Kitsune rampaging in my pack, and I’m sure it’s the same for the rest."
Alpha Joseph through about this for a moment before he sighed.
"I’ll try to reach them again. I’ll be heading to Ruby Stone’s pack. Come when you’re ready. No rush, okay son?"
"Yes Alpha Joseph."
The line went dead, and he turned to see Naomi slowly standing. She would have stood up earlier, but Dora’s angry gaze, fixated on her face caused her legs to turn to jelly, so she was on the floor the entire time he was on he phone.
"Somehow, the Kitsunes have managed to surround the entire werewolf territory."
"How?" It was Dora who asked, forgetting Barton had his arms around her.
"Well," He starts to explain, grabbing Naomi’s hand to pull her up, and casually turned to her, only to freeze.
Barton wondered why he suddenly froze up like that, and looked past him to see Naomi also staring up at him in horror, hand dangling in the air- without her mask on!
"Oh f**k." He whispered.
Chapter 135
Daniel didn’t even help her up, he just turned away, fisting his hands in his hair, walking away like he was exasperated about something- frustrated.
Dora had seen Naomi without her mask on, so it wasn’t a big deal for her. But why was Daniel... overreacting.
Naomi stood. Nervous wasn’t even a word to use for how she felt now. She turned to Barton with huge pleading eyes, and Barton came to stand Infront of her, causing Dora to realize the warmth she had felt all these while was from him.
"Daniel... can you... can you just calm down."
"Calm down?" Daniel chuckled and grimaced his face like he had never heard the word ’calm down’ before. "You want me to calm down?"
Dora just stared at everything in confusion, making no attempt to move or say anything, but just watch.
Right now, Naomi was leaning back against the car, cowering, Barton before her who was acting as a shield since it looked like Daniel wanted to rip her to pieces.
"Maybe I didn’t see clearly... maybe I’m seeing things." He pushed Barton aside and grabbed Naomi’s chin, roughly titling it up to stare down, taking in her full features for the first time.
In a long time.
The huge blue eyes, the angelic features, the slight chubby fat on her face, her small sensuous full, lips...
She had matured... but he’d recognize her in a crowd of millions.
"Naomi." The name he’d been calling her for days rolled off his tongue, but her heart pulstaued quickly, realizing he wasn’t just calling her Naomi... he had recognized her.
A flashback of their encounter in the picnic crossed her mind, and her face paled.
Flashback*
"Won’t you be happy? To see her after all these years?"
"Happy?" he laughed. It was bitter and painful, so painful, she stopped the small smile threatening to crawl up on her lips.
"Won’t you? You said you miss her."
"Yeah. I missed her when she died and left me all alone when she promised she’d be by my side forever. She didn’t do anything, she didn’t offend a single person, she didn’t even live long, we didn’t spend as much time as I wanted us to, and she died," he faced her squarely and explained to her, almost like he was talking to the Naomi he knew previously. "If I find out that she’s been alive all these years, with no memory loss, and she realized just how miserable and sadistic I’d be without her, thinking that she was actually dead, for all these years... "
Her heart thumped hard and loud against her rib cage as she waited for the rest of his sentence,
"I’ll kill her." He said, with no single iota of emotion on his face, almost seemingly expressionless*
End of flashback.
Reflexively, from the shock of what he might do to her, she bolted out of his grip, but he grabbed her wrist and pinned her to the car again, this time, roughly.
"Don’t touch me Barton." Daniel snapped when noticed Barton reached out to grab his shoulder. Just like Brittany, Barton also knew about this. The hurt, the pain of being betrayed by almost everyone he knew... tears welled up In his eyes.
"For 12 years!!!" He growled and Naomi whimpered under him, feeling her eyes sting with tears. "You ... You promised."
Dora’s brows rose, but she said nothing still. Did Naomi’s mask have something to do with this? Had she been wearing that mask to conceal her identity from Daniel?
If so, then who was she really?
Who was she to him, to cause Daniel this much pain and anger all at once.
"I had... "
He didn’t let her finish before slamming his hand at the side of her head, her head snapping to the area he had forcefully placed his hand. There was a huge crack around it, and the glass had shattered, his hand bleeding from the shards of glass.
She cautiously stared at his face and her heart swelled in pain. She had never felt this so much pain before. She held her chest and cast her eyes down, tears falling down her eyes, rolling down her cheeks to her jaws.
"I became miserable. I couldn’t trust anyone. I couldn’t be happy. I shut myself out from people," As he kept shouting at her, her tears kept falling in waves and it increased further when she saw the tears falling down his cheeks. Yes. Daniel was crying too.
Dora’s jaw dropped. She couldn’t believe this. Barton stood at the side, worried for Naomi, yet he felt this conversation was bound to happen someday. This confrontation. Yet, why now?
"I wanted to die! I missed you. I f**king missed you! Everything about you... for 12 years!!! I couldn’t stop thinking about the promises you made... to stay by my side no matter what! M- My heart... " He forcefully grabbed her wrist with his free hand and forced it to lay flat on his left breast where her eyes widened at how fast his heart beat. "It hurt. And it still does... I- I - I was abandoned by my father, I didn’t have a mother, and the one person I cherished more than anyone in the world was dead. Who should I have trusted Naomi?" He was screaming at her. Her head hurt from his screams and she wanted to just faint, fall unconscious to the ground and forget about everything happening now, but she couldn’t, not when the guilt she’s been suppressing all these years finally emerged like old scars reopening.
She stared up at him, watching his expression change from sadness to anger, but all in all, the tears were still rolling down his cheeks like they’d never stop, like an endless river flow.
Without thinking, she sandwiched his face between her hands and forced his head down, crashing his lips against hers .
It was a reflex, she wanted to sooth him, and that was all she could think off. Her heart quickened as she felt the lips of another against hers for the first time, and she stiffened, realizing this was as far as she could go. Would he push her away? Would he get madder? Oh-no.
However, Daniel had other plans. Slowly pulling her hands away from his cheek, he brought one hand down and cupped it on her cheek, and the other still bleeding, at the side of her head, tilting his head to the other side to kiss her deeply, his eyes shut tight.
To the two, it was just the two of them, no one else around them, just them. Just as it’s always been.
Her mouth slightly opened as she gasped, feeling his hand cupping her cheek, trace down to hold her face by the back of her neck in place.
He didn’t hesitate to thrust his tongue in before groaning, thrusting his hips forward, against hers to hold her in place.
His kiss was rough and his jaw was subtle against her chin, but she could feel the undying firy passion ignited in his kiss... the saltiness of his tears in her mouth, and she was sure he could taste hers too.
Chapter 136
How long had they been in that position, kissing, running their hands through each other’s hair, muttering incoherent words to each other before reuniting their lips again?
She couldn’t tell, but did she feel angry? Jealous? Pain?
Actually, no. She only felt uncomfortable, especially when Barton turned to look at her at that moment. She looked back at him, and they looked away In unision.
Why did she think about them kissing... like the couple Infront of her just now. No way. She and Barton. No way!!
She had come to accept that from the beginning, Daniel and she had been friends and that was all it was going to be between them. She couldn’t force love from someone who didn’t love her like that. She knew Daniel loved her, but not in the way she wanted him to, and with all her immaturity and obsessiveness, decisions with irrational thoughts, she had made herself an enemy to him.
She just wished things were back to the way they were. Before that night when her father had convinced her to drug the drink with that aphrodisiac drug. She wasn’t too keen on taking their relationship as best friends to the next level, well aware of Daniel’s reputation at that time, but her father, he had subdued her with his tongue and words, telling her all she could benefit from being his Luna. After all, when he died, she had no place in his pack since Dimitri was going to be ruling anyways.
Her eyes grew cold, and she cast her eyes down as she remembered the bad news she just received earlier. He was really dead. She knew a time like this would come, but she didn’t think now. She didn’t think in this way.
Looking at the two... lovers Infront of her, she was surprised, shocked, but definitely the rest of her emotions was numb, only sadness as she thought about her father.
Previously, she wasn’t in the least keen on the rampage that was happening, but after what ensued, she would ensure she trample upon the Kitsunes, even if she died while doing it, she’d make sure to take one down with her.
A soft pop sound was heard as Daniel drew back from her lips. He had forgetten about the other two behind them who had their backs turned the whole time, trying unsuccessfully to talk to each other, which was better than just standing and staring at the couple, eating dog food.
And even if he remembered them, he didn’t care. All his attention was on her.
Their faces was just an inch apart, still, it took him several seconds to raise his hand to her face, tracing her features with trembling fingers and welled up eyes, almost like he was scared she was not real and he was probably dreaming again like those times he would play with Naomi in his room at Moon Howler’s pack, only for her to vanish, reality striking him hard that he was only imagining her and she was gone.
Naomi’s eyes were locked in his eyes, however her lips parted slightly as his fingers trailed from the side of her head to her nose, rubbing his thumb across her red swollen lips.
The sparks- they both felt it from their first kiss together just now. The mate bond was pulling them closer than they’ve ever been.
Was this it? Was he going to accept her? Were they fully reunited?
"Nana." He groaned, and her heart tingled at her special nickname rolling off his tongue like a melodious tune. How long had she heard it? 12 years!
She released a shaky, exasperated sigh.
"Danny... "
The tears were still there, but her brows furrowed as she saw the clouds begin to hover in his eyes like a heavy storm was coming.
He leaned back, shards of glass from the car coming to break into smaller pieces on the ground, his wounded hand slowly healing, his eyes still fixated in hers, something dark, unfathomable and dangerous rearing within.
"Da- " Her words got stuck in her throat as she saw his hands turn to fists.
At the sound of shards of glass breaking, Barton and Dora turned.
It was just one word he uttered, but he used almost all his willpower— she was sure of it.
"Run."
Darkness concealed the entire light she had seen previously, shades of blue were swirling like hot lava in his eyes. Bloodlust, a murderous intent emenanting from there, that was all she could see.
She moved away from him, In fear almost staggering to the ground. Just when she thought... her heart clenched in pain as she turned away from him before running.
"I don’t want to see your face!" He screamed louder, after her. "I’ll kill you if I do! I swear by it Naomi!"
"F**k!" She heard him scream from afar, followed by a loud crash.
Daniel had kicked the car so hard it toppled over and fell, crashing and smashing to pieces.
Her breath turned ragged, and her heart, heavy as she increased her steps.
"I’ll kill you."
"I’ll kill you."
"I’ll kill you."
... these three simply put but lethal words echoed in her head as she ran further, almost running out of air.
Daniel turned to Barton.
"You knew," He was slowly approaching him, but Barton stood his ground. "You f**king knew all these while, you and Brittany... a... and pretty much everyone else except me!" He grabbed Barton’s shirt and squeezed the colar tightly, his cannines producting from his gums. They looked sharper than ever, straining to kill.
"Why?"
"It wasn’t my secret to tell, and you wouldn’t understand anyway." Barton calmly replied.
"Why did she run?" Dora asked, wondering what happened next. One minute, they were kissing, and now she just ran away from him like he was a wild beast.
"I told her to." Daniel snapped at her.
"Why?" Barton asked this time, forcing Daniel back, moving his hand which had grabbed the front of his shirt so tightly, it was stained with blood and all rumpled up.
"Because if she had stayed a minute longer, I would have killed her. I don’t want to set my eyss on her- ever!"
"You’re saying that because you’re mad. You’re not in your right senses, so you’re making stupid irrational decisions." Dora yelled at him.
Barton stepped out of the way as Daniel approached her, yet he was close enough Incase he tried anything funny with Dora. For some reason, he felt protective around her
"How would you f**king know?! Why don’t you mind your business! I’m sure you’ve got a lot of things on your mind now, so you shouldn’t bother me, okay?"
She pushed at his chest so hard and unexpectedly that he almost fell back. He looked at her in shock.
"I would know because I’ve made terrible decisions in my life. I wasn’t in my right senses!! I was mad... I... I was angry.. and now I regret it okay," she hesitated before she rolled her eyes. This was going to be difficult for her to say, but she had to. He deserved it. "I... I’m sorry."
The darkness clouded in his eyes evaporated, blowing away like a mist gathered over a land. He just looked surprised. Not more surprised than the other man standing behind her, but he was definitely surprised.
"I... I didn’t want this- well not at first," She sighed and cleaned the edge of her eyes before folding her arms and looking away. "I wanted us to remain friends. I liked the way we were... Not until you wanted to leave Moon Howler’s. I was scared you were going to forget me because... you made it clear that you didn’t trust anyone because of Naomi’s death, and I was sure you’d forget me because we weren’t really attached, so I went to my dad for help, and he planned it. The drugging and everything..." her tears fell in waves, and she couldn’t even look him in the eyes. "I messed up, and I’m sorry okay? I was immature and stupid, stupid for ever believing we’d be a couple, and for blackmailing you. I’m so sorry Daniel."
She was expecting him to turn away and look for Naomi or just...
She wasn’t expecting to feel his arms around her as she cried, but she was happy, she was ecstatic. Her cries softened, and a small genuine smile curled up on her lips as she hugged him back.
After what seemed like seconds, he drew back, and wiped her face with his hand before sighing.
"I wasn’t planning on ever forgetting you Dora... well not until... you know."
She smiled.
"Yeah."
"Let’s... start all over?"
She looked down, feeling uncomfortable. She wasn’t used to this emotional stuff.
"I’d like that."
They hugged again, before Barton said,
"Okay guys, wrap it up. Naomi?"
He was happy for their reunion, but Naomi had been gone for more than five minutes and he had begun to worry.
Daniel’s gaze darkened again as he slowly pulled away from Dora’s embrace, his hand holding hers, as if it was the only thing keeping him sane.
He glared at Barton, and Barton rolled his eyes, turning away before turning back to glare at his little cousin.
"What!? She’s your long time best friend! You see her after such a while, and you kiss her, and you tell her to run. Are you psychopathic?"
"Naomi," Dora softly spoke up before staring at Daniel in shock, as the pieces fell together like a finished puzzle.
She suddenly released his hand, and stepped back, staring in shock, slight excitement in her eyes at Daniel.
"Naomi!" She called again in a hushed whisper, staring at Barton before turning to Daniel again.
"She’s not just your mate, she’s your best friend. Your long time friend... the one you said that was dead?"
"Yes," Danile replied before glaring at Barton. "And that’s how it should be."
Chapter 137
A tree branch snapped far off and landed with a thud on the ground. Dead bodies everywhere, the smell of blood nauseating yet a sight to behold for Deborah as she flew around the blood bath arena searching- searching for them.
The side of her lips were bleeding, and there was a scary, mad glint spamming in her eyes, as she fugutively glanced around, swaying past trees, flying above bodies.
"Ha!" She screamed in shock when something launched at her from below, and she was sent flying down.
She grunted as she rolled on the ground, her once snow white tails which had been matted with dust, rolling alongside her body, picking up more dirt than previously.
Hearing a snarl, accompanied by a deep throaty growl, she opened her eyes, before sitting up in a flash, snapping her head to and fro.
There were several werewolves, counting to 12 or more surrounded around her like a large circle. One had a scar stretched out from his predatory eyes down to his lips. They had all shifted— the ones she hadn’t ripped to pieces yet.
Before she could move, they pounced on her all at once. Shrill screams and gnarls echoed into the night. After the sounds of breaking bones and ripping noises had died down , Alpha Cardin stepped in on cue, using the sharp edge of the car which had smashed earlier to tear the unconscious Fox’s tails off her body.
Beta Royce reappeared. There was a large cut at the side of his neck which was slowly healing, evident that he had almost lost his head in a fight, but he persistent still despite Cardin’s protest to help him cut the tails.
They had killed the Kitsune.
"What do we do now." Asked a pack warrior, who hadn’t shifted yet, but had a smouldering bloody hole in his chest.
The smell of blood was so unbearable that Alpha Cardin didn’t reply at once, and beckoned the rest to follow him. There were a few men, but most of them were in their wolf form, some of them... too wounded to have shifted.
Soon Alpha Cardin was surrounded as he explained.
"I lost my phone during the sudden attack, but we’re all heading to Ruby Stone’s pack. All of us," he stared at everyone with narrowed eyes "Will shift."
There were murmurs of protest, but Royce shut them up with a glare.
"Every single car’s been turned to a pile of rubble, so except you want to keep walking like a person, and probably run into another fox, then be my guest." He didn’t wait before he shifted into a glorious 3 feet black wolf with red patches around the lower region and head, his eyes, crimson red soaked in yellow.
He began to run in a particular direction, not waiting for Royce who shfited as well before running after him.
His men followed after him— after shifting themselves.
*
At Ruby Stone’s, Koan was walking down cold stone steps with Alpha Henry by his side and Nancy in his arms.
Upstairs, Alpha Henry’s family had been put in a room, heavily guarded. Heavily as in, the pack warriors from Dark Risers’s pack, Silver Moon’s pack, Ruby Stone’s pack, Shadow Slayer’s pack and Crescent Moon’s pack had surrounded the entire Alpha’s domain, some warriors stretching out to protect the pack members by standing guard at the boundaries between Ruby Stone’s and other packs.
There were still some pack warriors left in their respective packs just Incase their people were in danger, since most Alphas weren’t present in their domain presently.
Some wounded ones were healing, being tended to by the pack doctors.
Blood moon was yet to arrive, and Dark Risers’s Alpha was yet to be present as well, but Alpha Joseph clearly understood and didn’t bother calling to confront him about his tardiness.
Koan had seen Luna Angela and her snobbish daughter and had hated them at first sight. He was usually grouchy, and didn’t like a lot of people, but Koan wasn’t one to hate someone at first sight.
This was the first time.
It so happens that he was mad at them. They were the reason Nancy was this way. He was also partly at fault, but Nancy wouldn’t have grown in such a terrible home if Alpha Henry hadn’t remarried such a bitch.
She wouldn’t have had a mentality break down if Alpha Henry hadn’t expected more from her even though she had been giving it her all.
He glanced down at the sleeping beauty before him.
They did this. They ruined his mate.
His face turned pale and his eyes softened. He hadn’t even realized that they were standing before a dungeon cell, and Henry had been looking at the two with a curious gaze, shock evdient in his eyes, wondering at the soft spot Koan had for his daughter.
Koan sighed, and glanced away, feeling guilty.
He had let his pride take over. He hadn’t listened to her, he hadn’t accepted in the first place. He made her like this too. And now his Nancy was gone— he just hoped it wasn’t forever.
When he realized they had reached their destination, he glanced up, his soft expression earlier hardening, the glaciers in his eyes returning like a brewing storm.
"This is the errr... the most reliable cell we have in our dungeon so far... " He explained, rubbing the back of his beck awkwardly. He had Koan had met a few times, and he knew his reputation. He was a loner, and he didn’t socialize. But why did it feel like he hated him?
They had come down here because Koan had made it know that Nancy had been in the Kitsunes captivity in a while, and well... she had tried to kill them, so she wasn’t in her right senses anymore.
She was unconscious now, but they knew she’d try something stupid when she was conscious, so Alpha Joseph suggested they’d lock her up, at least until they get to the bottom of whatever chaos the Kitsunes had created.
So here they were, 7 feet underground with Koan getting into the dungeon, his hot gaze fixed on Alpha Henry as he locked them in solemnly.
Chapter 138
"You sure you want to be locked up with her in there... " He asked as he turned the lock.
"I don’t reckon you’d want to, so I’d better." Koan snorted his reply before placing Nancy down on the cold stone ground, making sure she was properly leaning against the wall.
Henry pursed his lips.
"The Kitsunes want to kill me for a reason. Just like Alpha Drake, and Justin... I didn’t ask to be the centre of attraction Koan. I don’t f**king want to be killed. I didn’t force you to come here."
Koan laughed before turning so that they were faced off squarely, the cell gate, the only barrier between them, and the space they kept between themselves and it.
"Is that what you think... is that why you think I hate you?"
"Oh so you so hate me? Please do enlighten me as to why." Henry’s tone was now brittle.
"I don’t think you’d care to know. I mean if you don’t even care about your daughter... "
"I love Nancy very much. She’s not your daughter... you don’t know just how much I’ve sacrificed for her."
"The only thing you sacrificed for her was your care and love. You never for once even saw her as your daughter. You see her just as you see anyone else in your pack as an Alpha. The only person who sacrificed much was her," He didn’t let Alpha Henry say a word as he spat out at him. "She did everything you ever asked of her... she was there when you needed her, wasn’t she? She trained past her limits, studied past her limits. She did everything to make you happy because you always wanted her to do what you wanted! She did it without hesitation. And what happens when she gets a mental break down, what happens when she needs you at the crucial moment of her life? You f**King abandon her! You get married to some whore that can’t even treat your daughter right, and just like that Alpha, you deem it suitable enough to take away her title, and hand it over to a snobbish kid who doesn’t look like she can rule a pack for day!!!"
Alpha Henry was sure that the cell gates was the only thing preventing Koan from punching him across the jaw right now.
Every word he spoke shattered something inside of him, until he held the bars of the cell gates, closing his eyes as he tried to steady himself.
Koan backed away, feeling disgusted and angry as Alpha Henry left without a word.
As he leaned back from the cage, something grabbed onto his ankle and pulled him down. He grunted as he fell on the stone cold ground, but his eyes widened on seeing Nancy straddling him, locking his hand at his sides by curling her small hands around his wrists, pinning them down.
Her eyes were drowsy, and it looked like she had just regained consciousness, but the blue-red glow emanating from her eyes, made it clear that she was mad with anger.
Koan almost face palmed himself. This was a very crucial situation right now, and this was a woman who wouldn’t hesitate to kill him, yet her body pressed against his was a complete turn on. He could feel his insides turn hot with raw desire as she straddled over him sexily, her furious eyes raking over his face.
His hunger for her which he had been suppressing from the time he saw her dancing at that night party, emanated like a lava bursting out from a volcano, and in the next second, the tables turned, and he was straddling her this time, pinning her hands above her head.
"What do you think you’re doing." He smirked cruelly as he whispered.
"Get your filthy hands away from me. Where am I?" She growled in anger. If looks could kill, Koan would have been a dead man already.
Koan’s mind started running with several answers to tell her.
"Um... we were locked in here... together... the Kitsunes found us. "
She glared at the gate before narrowing her eyes at him.
"You’re lying."
He suddenly rolled off her, leaving her stunned on the floor, before she got up in a flash.
"About us being locked in here? Or about the Kitsunes betraying you?"
He sat on the floor, casually leaning against the wall, watching In amusement as she ran to the gates, struggling to open it .
"Save it. It’s useless trying."
He starts getting up while saying, but she didn’t seem to hear him.
"Don’t come any close, or I’ll kill you." She threatened with a small shaky voice, feeling his hot breath on her neck as she tried to force the gate open. Her legs quaked with desire, and her grip on the bars were slowly trembling as an electric feeling courses through her entire being.
"Why don’t you kill me now," she gasped and her grip on the bars tightened as she felt him press into her from behind. "That’s what you wanted previously... or... " She shuddered at the hot breath fanning the area below her ear lobes. "Have you changed your mind about me?"
Heat emanates from the pad of his fingers against her neck as he glides it down to her shoulder, down the sides of her body, making sensual predatory trails down her body, the other hand, protectively around her waist.
"Um... " She couldn’t say anything for a few seconds, only gulping in air and panting like a dying woman in the dessert as his hot fingers found their way to her thigh which wasn’t hard since the slit at the sides of the gown was quite high. "W- What are you... s... top. Stop it now. Um... " She tried to be stern, but another muffled soft moan left her lips as he moved his fingers into her inner thigh.
Her lower region felt hot, almost unbearably hot, earning to be satiated by his touch. She could feel her core tremble and clench In anticipation.
In desperation, she rubbed her thighs against each other, feeling his fingers brush against her down there.
Realizing what was happening, on feeling his lips suck her neck, just close to her ear, her eyes flew open and she pushed him back.
Before Koan regained his composure, trying not to fall from the sudden push, she went inside the cell, aiming to break down one of the walls and escape, her ears red, her face flushed from what just happened.
However, Koan had other ideas. Just as she was ready to break down the walls, something— or someone grabbed her from behind and pushed her back so that this time she was sandwiched between the wall and Koan, this time, their faces were just inches apart, his breath teasing her lips.
She carefully looked up, after subconsciously bracing her two hands against his chest, staring at the broad masculinity before her, trailing it up to his gorgeous face, her gaze lingering on his hot jawline which could smash through walls.
Hot blue eyes greeted hers when she looked up before he groaned, almost painfully as he said, coming to bite her ear.
"My patience have run out with you Nancy. I can’t hold it back anymore, I swear."
Chapter 139
Nancy gasped, throwing her face down, her hands bracing against his chest, pushing back forcefully. However, his hands were braced on the wall at the sides of her face, trapping her, pressing his body against his, so that Nancy had no choice but to helplessly glare up at him.
"I don’t like this," a frown was etched on her flushed face as she avoided his burning gaze. "I feel," her legs slowly rub against each other. "uncomfortable."
He trailed his eyes down to where her legs were tightly squeezed shut, rubbing against each other sensually.
"Let me help you." He offered naughtily, and she glared at him again, unlike the first time though, there was another glint of emotion in her eyes which seemed to be slowly overriding all other emotions she felt.
Desire.
"Don’t touch me." Her palm against his shirt pressed further, yet her effort was useless; seeing as he didn’t even budge but kept staring down at her in amusement.
"I don’t need to touch you." He stated.
Her face was hot. There were tingles racing up her spine. Her pulse quickened abnormally, as she leaned her head back into the wall, his hot breath teasing her ear again.
They were so engrossed in their carnal desires, the two failed to notice the blue-red crimson glow emanating off her body and traveling into his.
The more time they spent this close, the more his body absorbed the negative energy off her.
Her eyes blinkered for a few seconds, changing from blue-crimson to azalea as Koan placed a kiss on the sensitive spot below her ear.
"Um... " She moaned softly, unaware of that her hands had turned to fist, bunching his shirt in them, and pulling him close as he glided his tongue over her colarbone, kissing and sucking hard.
If it weren’t for his body pressed against hers on the wall, she swore she would have have fallen limply to the ground, because her legs had turned to jellied legs.
"Koan." She whimpered painfully, and Koan froze before hurriedly looking at her face, eyes darting left and right, checking for anything that might have caused her to whimper like she was in pain.
He released a hand from the wall, cupping her cheek and carefully titling her head up so their gazes were deeply locked, such that he could see her eyes flickering from blue-crimson to pink.
She looked like she was in so much pain— like she was battling within herself, trying to find herself, struggling to break free from whatever bondage was holding her back— was holding the real Nancy.
Tears dropped from her eyes, down her cheeks in thin streams of water.
"Nancy." Koan’s heart clenched in pain seeing her tears. His eyes narrowed in worry as he grabbed the other side of her face, sandwiching her face between his two hands.
Her eyes completely turned blue-crimson, and with gritted teeth and furrowed brows, she grabbed his wrists.
"I’m not Nancy." She hissed at him.
Before he could say a word, the color of her eyes began fading back to pink, tears running down her eyes again. She was in so much pain.
"Koan... " her voice was like a strangled whisper as she meekly looked up at him, her eyes, glassy, due to the tears welling up in them. "I’m... scared K- Koan."
She closed her eyes, her brows slowly furrowing, her chest rising and falling heavily, her lips trembling.
Koan’s eyes searched her face in worry and fear, not having a single idea of what to do. He could only panic, and he hated it. He hated the fact that his mate was in pain, and he couldn’t do anything but watch.
Just when Nancy’s eyes were about opening, he swooped his head in, taking her lips in his. A soft moan was shared between them, as his tongue snaked into her mouth, uniting with hers, lapping and rolling against it, tilting his head to penetrate deeper.
A tingle of pleasure explodes somewhere deep in the confinement of her chest, and she found herself parting her lips wider to let him access every single part of her.
Her small grip around his wrists slowly crept down to bundle fists of his shirt again, pulling him close, and tilting her head.
He leaned back, and just for a milli-second, they lock gazes, before he captured her lips again, this time with a raw hunger, a yearning passion, and she shut her eyes tight, standing high on her toes to meet with his firy lips pressed against hers.
For a minute, they melted into each other, molding their lips together as one, basking in the heat of their suppressed desires.
When he noticed her toes straining at their tip to match with his kiss, he suddenly grabbed her a*s, lifting her up, her legs reflexively wrapping around his waist as she gasped into the kiss from the unexpected move.
Still, he didn’t detach his lips, angling his head the other way to push his tongue in— resuming their previous game of tag. Her hands crept up, over his muscular contours before snaking up to attach her fingers up, curling then around his hair, fisting his hair in her hands, pulling him to merge their lips closer, both, not yet having enough of each other.
After a while, he pulled back, and she shyly avoided his eyes when he wouldn’t stop staring at her.
"I missed you." He whispered, seeing her beautiful azalea colored eyes close up for the first time, and admiring it.
She hiccuped, clearly shocked, yet a fluttering feeling settled in her chest, refusing to go, even though she tried to assure herself that this was a dream, and this wasn’t Koan straddling her, kissing her with such a raw passion and hunger that left her breathless, and telling her that he missed her.
"I... " She blushed when his eyes wouldn’t leave her face. "I want to... stand on my own."
He reluctantly let her down, aware of how uncomfortable she felt.
"I’m sorry." She apologized softly.
"Sorry for what?"
She cast her eyes down, curling her fingers against each other.
"I shouldn’t have gone off to such a far place, only to get abducted... I shouldn’t have made you go through that trouble of finding me. I watched as I hurt my friends," she glanced up at Koan, there were tears running down her cheeks, and her eyes were red and puffy from crying so much. "I watched as I killed a lot of people— as I tried to kill you. All these happened because of me... and I’m sorry Koan."
"No... you... "
"Maybe you’re right. Maybe I’m just a weak, immature... "
"No!" He suddenly yelled, and sighed when she shrinked back, under his voice. He stepped closer, and she backed away from him. "Don’t do that, dammit! Don’t back away from me Nancy."
He stepped closer again, and she released a shaky breath as she braced herself for what was to come, her back against the wall.
Her eyes suddenly widened when he kissed her again. It was a simple kiss on the lips, but it was searing hot, and left her breathless when he pulled back.
"I don’t deserve you." He whispered painfully, and her eyes widened again at his confession.
"It’s not your fault Nancy. If anyone’s the immature person here, it’s me. I never listened to you, I never considered anything you said, I never accepted you, I always thought I was too good for you. Turns out, you were actually too good for me. I was just too blind to see that."
"Why are you saying all these?"
"I want to apologize Nancy," his voice came out strained, hurt by the disbelief in her eyes. She had been hurt so much in the past, she was finding it difficult to take him seriously now.
"I want to say I’m sorry. I’m so sorry. You have every right to reject me, to hate me, to leave me," her lips trembled again, and her eyes welled up as they locked gazes. "I... just want one more chance. Just give me one more chance Nancy. Loosing you previously made me realize just how much I feel incomplete without you around in my life. I don’t want to loose you again." he held her hand against the wall, entwining his fingers in hers, holding the other other and doing the same.
"I love you, I swear I do because... without you, I don’t think anything will make sense to me anymore." He finally said, and it was like the world stilled for a moment, before she finally leaned back, releasing her hand from his grasp to hold her cheeks, to be sure this wasn’t a dream.
Koan stood back, watching her in confusion, a slight amusement dancing in his eyes as she cutely pinched her cheeks.
"It’s... really not a dream." He heard her whisper before dropping to the floor like a log of wood.
"Nancy!" He worriedly yelled, and fell to his knees, pulling her in his embrace and staring down at her face. Her heart beat was steady, which meant she was alive.
This girl... she fainted in the middle of his confession!
Chapter 140
"Stop moving so much or I can’t... John stop!" Talia sternly yelled when he wouldn’t let her clean his wound— more so touch him.
"John, stop wriggling like a child." Jephthah managed to say. He was on the bed, his knee drawn up, his other leg stretched out Infront of him. His face was shielded with the back of his palm, while his other hand was lying across his bare stomach where a bandage was wrapped around to enable him heal faster
His voice was strained and croaky, he was too weak so he didn’t bother raising his head .
"I want that chic with the gorgeous lips to tend to my wounds." John wined, politely refusing Talia’s attempt to clean his wound and bandage it.
Talia’s brows furrowed.
"Ugh! You’re such a conceited whore. We’re in the middle of a serious situation, and all you care about is hitting on her."
Liliana came in at that moment.
"I brought extra bandages." She said as she walked in, sitting on the space beside John.
His eyes shimmered as he moved close to her while Talia rolled her eyes, giving up on him already.
"Hey," Liliana turned to him and spotted the blistering wound on his chest; Almost like a dagger had gone through it. "Do you mind helping me with this."
"Oh my goodness," She gasped, running her hands over the wound while John bit his lip, staring at her. She turned to Talia. "Why haven’t you cleaned his wounds yet? It could be infected!"
Talia just sighed frustratingly.
"Can you help me?" John asked innocently, winking at her.
Liliana blushed, and Talia rolled her eyes again, focusing her attention on Jephthah.
As she crawled close to him on the bed, she heard John said,
"We’ll be back guys. Figured out you’d need privacy."
"Huh?" Talia turned in time to see John leading a confused Liliana out the door holding the iodine and bandages.
Her eyebrows twitched, but she made no move to go after them. After all, they had limited time to rest before the Kitsunes strike again, and she was sure this time, they needed to give it their all if they wanted to live.
Jephthah slowly removed his arm, wincing slightly as Talia crawled in the sheets with him, snaking her leg into the blankets and placing her head on his chest, her hand braced against his stomach.
"What’s wrong?" He softly asked, spooning her, after placing a deep kiss on her hair, just close to her forehead.
Talia sighed and looked down, staring at the bandage wrapped around him.
"Nothing’s wrong."
He could hear the muffled cry as she mumbled. Cupping her cheek, he titled her head up so that they were staring into each other’s eyes.
"You know it’s just me and you here, right?"
She nodded, and he saw the tears welling up in her eyes.
"Let it all out Talia. I’m here for you, you know that, right?"
She nodded again before collapsing on his chest, her tears rolling down her cheeks in several streams of water, wetting his chest and her colar.
His hand soothingly stroked her hair.
"It’s just... everything’s not the same anymore. I want everything to go back to normal, but I know I’m asking much... I know it’s not going to be easy, but we’ve lost a lot of lives... I don’t know where Royce is, I don’t even know ... I’ve called Brittany, and she said they left hours ago, but they’re yet to arrive, and I’m just scared they didn’t make it. Daniel hasn’t arrived either, and Nancy," she wailed again, burying her face In the crook of his chest. "She doesn’t even know who I am anymore... she tried to kill me Jephthah. And now everyone’s wounded including you, and the Kitsunes, and the attacks, and Alpha Henry... " She became so tired, her upper lids began to droop until her words turned slurred, and her tears stopped dropping.
Jephthah lay there, patiently listening to her, feeling his heart clench at tears, wanting to stop her, yet bore the pain and listened to her until she slept off.
Once she did, he leaned down to see her sleeping face stained with tears, nestled on his chest.
*
Standing at the edge of the cliff, she stopped to rest from the run, her hands on her knee, the other cupped around her chest, breathing hard with fresh tears running down her eyes.
Just when she was taking her last breaths before dropping on the floor to ponder on her life, she felt a prescence behind and turned. Her face paled, and her throat ran dry of saliva as she stared into his cold blue eyes, glaring at her with so much hate and anger.
"Daniel." She uttered, before the unexpected happened. He pushed her.
Time slowed down to a maximum, moving at an incredibly slow motion as her hand sprawled at her sides, tears slowly running down her eyes, sprawling at her sides and not down her cheeks due to the fall. Her eyes were lifted up, trying to assure herself that this was a dream, and she was not just being pushed off a cliff by Daniel.
But even as she landed on the cold ground, the pain on her back numb due to the pain of betrayal she felt, those cold blue eyes were still up there, staring right down at her, not even blinking as she fell to her death.
The last few tears fell across her eyes, down the side of her face, as her eyes closed painfully.

Back at Dark Risers’s pack, Daniel was talking with one of the pack warriors he had left in charge of the pack.
Almost everything in the pack had been burnt to the ground, leaving only ashes, blood and darkness, a trail of bloodlust lingering on the air.
No one was In sight except the two men.
"I’ll be heading back to the fields. I have an important meeting to attend," the warrior nodded In understanding. "Thank you for your consistency in protecting my pack members. You’ll be duly rewarded when this is all over."
With that, he turned away and left.
The warrior went back to the Alpha’s mansion which was still standing strong and untouched amongst the rubbles, However the Interior of the house had been damaged beyond repair. Going downstairs, underground where the Omegas’ quarters were situated previously, he shut the door behind him, only to join the rest down.
There, all the surviving pack members, including Marcy, and people from Daniel’s school were huddled up In the room which had kept them safe during the attack.
Once the warrior entered, they all stared up at him with different emotions in their eyes.
Feat, apprehensiveness, Fierceness, but they almost breathed a sigh of relief when they recognized him as one of them.
Marcy ran to him. She had a burning mark at the side of her face, yet a Fierce look in her eyes as she questioned him.
"Where is he?"
"He left Beta Marcy."
Marcy sighed, breathing out in relief. A child began crying in the room, and she dutifully went over to help the she-wolf mother.
A while later, the warriors who had been escorted by Daniel previously, returned with new clothes, food and water which could serve the entire pack members for some days.
Marcy hurriedly found a napkin amongst the pile and changed the baby’s clothes after wiping her. As she did so, her lip drew up into a painful smile as she remembered how she cleaned her babies when they messed up themselves.
She wished there was a phone reliable enough to call Brittany.

Daniel returned to the fields to see Barton And Dora standing side by side with grave looks on their faces.
"What?" He asked, a bit anxious, his gaze not leaving theirs as he dusted something off his hair.
"We couldn’t find her."
"What do you mean? She couldn’t have gone that far!" Daniel suddenly lost control and yelled.
"Hey!" Barton yelled back. "We searched every f**king nook and cranny. You don’t dare to raise your voice at us, because it’s your f**king fault this happened."
They exchanged cold glances at each other, before Dora hurriedly said, Hoping they won’t start fighting again.
"The Kitsunes have her."
Like she wanted, they turned to her, stepping away from each other.
"What do you mean? How do you know that?"
"A Kitsune was raining fire on your pack, but just before you arrived, it suddenly disappeared, didn’t it?"
"Yeah, so?"
"It disappeared at the same time Naomi did... Can’t you tell?"
As she said that, the god of silence seemed to reign amongst them as Daniel stepped back In realization.
"No... " he whispered, more to himself than them, but they heard him.
"I... I... " he stared up at the two, and hated the sympathy in their eyes. It was his fault, but they could only sympathize with him. "I lost her before, and I admit it was my fault... I..
I can’t loose Naomi again... No!" He yelled and fell to the ground, fisting his hand in his hair.
"We’ll head to Ruby Stone’s pack. So far everyone’s there, including Alpha Henry. The Kitsunes are bound to come there." Barton added.
Daniel stared at something unseen on the grass before fisting his hand on the ground.
"I’ll tear everyone of them apart."
