Chapter 121

Feeling the breeze against her body, causing her skin to tingle, she was well aware that her body was half bare to him.

His arm placed securely around waist, he abruptly got up, slamming her down on the desk, getting in-between her legs, ravaging her body with hot kisses.

Her hand left scratches at his back, her head thrown up in ecstacy of the moment, her legs coming to entwine about his slender waist.

She suddenly grabbed his colar and pulled him up so that they were face to face, their mouths slightly opened as they panted in each other’s faces.

"I- If we start now," she stammered, feeling slightly intimidated by the impatient fury in his eyes. "We won’t stop." It was almost like she was warning him.

Still, she felt nervous. She felt she was going to be ready for the day they finally get intimate with each. But now, realizing she was offering herself to him out of the blue, her racing heart was inevitable to control.

Koan’s eyes darkened for a few minutes as he pondered over something for a while, well aware of the warmth emanating from between her legs.

"Koan." She snapped at him with teary eyes when he did nothing but just stare at her, almost like he was looking into a void inexplicable of explanation.

He slowly backed away, his eyes casted down, fist at his sides, not a word from him.

Nancy just sat there on the table, files scattered of the floor, hair roughed, eyes wide, dress in shreds at her feet on the floor, half naked before the Alpha with tears welling up in her eyes.

"Leave my office." He whispered painfully, looking up at her.

He expected her to shout and scream and struggle. He expected her to turn stubborn and remain seated.

But her next actions shocked him. Immediately he said those words to her, she bent down, picked up her clothes and wore it.

Without a word, she left the office, not bothering to look back. Not even a muffled cry was heard after all the tears that welled up in her eyes.

He would be lying to himself if he said he wasn’t surprised. But he was relieved because he needed time to think.

Alpha Joseph wasn’t going to let just mated Alphas Into his meeting. Aside your Luna being late, If you had a mate, you had to mark them before you could make them your Luna.

Which means, if he wanted to attend the meeting, he had to make Nancy his Luna. Which means he has to mark her, whereas the final rights would be completed after they’ve gotten intimate with each other.

*

Nancy had changed and was heading for...

Actually she didn’t know where she was headed to. As long as she was far away from the Alpha’s domain and had time and space to clear her head and think, she didn’t care where she went.

She ended up in what looked like a large garden, and after roaming about, feeling flowers here and there and mumbling to herself, she sat down, leaning back against a tree and finally closing her eyes.

There was complete silence, only the chirping of birds as the first tear rolled down, followed by another and then streams of tears until she couldn’t take it anymore and wailed out loud.

"What’s wrong with me?" She got up and faced the tree, imagining it as Koan. "Is there something wrong with me? Then tell me! I’ve tried... I’ve tried every possible thing to make you like me... t.. to... " She felt tears run down her cheeks again, and she just fell to her knees, hugging her face. "You push me away and make me feel useless... I want to be there by your side... I want to support you all the time. You don’t know just how much I can do for you!! You don’t know the sacrifices I’m willing to take for you. Can you just tell me why you hate me? My father won’t... None of my family members will... and you won’t either? Is there something wrong with me? Am I just destined to... die? To be alone?"

She slumped and pulled out her phone. Tears shielded her vision, but she was able to call Talia.

*

In Foxtune,

The King, Still on the throne, unable to move, sat like a stoic statue, staring ahead with an incomprehensible expression.

He’s been like that for many years, cursed by the previous late Queen of the Kitsunes, Queen Fiona due to an incident.

King Jacob and Queen Fiona had an affair whereby she had a daughter for him, however, a spy informed the King that the Queen had an affair with the enemy, a werewolf and had given birth to a son.

Furious, he had locked her up in a room, and had tortured her to death. She wouldn’t inform him of his daughter’s whereabouts nor where the forbidden son she had given birth to.

However, before she took her last breath, she cursed him with her rare blood, which was the blood of a female leader.

He would become one with the throne and rot on it, unless the two rulers of Foxtune, the daughter and the son, unite together with the blood of a female Alpha.

It was impossible. How would they find the the rightful heirs of Foxtune, and it was almost impossibly rare to find a female ruler of the werewolves!

And thus, the king remained stagnant on the throne for decades, growing angry and angry, his contempt for werewolves getting stronger by every passing minute, his thirst for revenge turning almost unbearable. He has reached his limit.

Two Kitsunes were standing side by side in the air, in the throne room, before the king, a glass ball before them.

In the glass ball, they were watching something.

The King looked away, uninterested, but thinking of his daughter who would be arriving to take her rightful place on the throne

What about his half-son then?

He gritted his teeth. If only he wasn’t this immobile, he could have found them both faster than his so-called subjects.

It took them decades just to find the daughter. Though they had found a female ruler... only the son remained.

Meanwhile in the glassball,

It was Nancy, crying and wailing on the floor, a phone to her ear.

The two women finally exchanged glances.

"She’s alone. Let’s make our move immediately." One said to the other.

With that, they flew like missles towards a particular place, the king staring at the ball with a complicated expression.

Chapter 122

Talia was in tears.

She couldn’t help but always shed a few when it came to Nancy. How can she tell Nancy just how much worth she was?

She hated when her best friend always blamed herself for things that went wrong.

"Nancy," She sniffed. "Nothing is wrong with you." She said for the nth time, wiping her eyes.

"Then why does he hate me?!"

"He just doesn’t know your worth. And you’d be stupid if you keep throwing yourself at him. You’re a queen... you’re a prized gem. A rare female Alpha. He should be the one crawling to you and not the other way round."

"I’ve done everything possible for him to see just how willing I am to be by his side all the time, but he still sees me as a kid."

"How pitiful~." Someone purred behind her, and with a gasp, she fell back, scrambling on her hands and feet as she looked up at the horrific scene before her.

"Kitsunes!?" She was shocked,

But not as shocked as the person on the other line.

"What?! What did you just say? Nancy where are you?!"

A shrill scream from Nancy caused her to abruptly drop her phone.

"Nancy?!" She screamed, picking up her phone again.

However, everything turned silent.

Her heart was in panic. For a full minute, she didn’t have a single idea of what to do but just pace around the room, horrified.

She contemplated on who to call. Daniel? Jephthah?

But she knew that at the end of the day, she had to call him...

Sighing, she texted John to send her someone’s number since she was aware of how John was well conversant with almost everyone in the werewolf territory.

His message came five minutes later and she didn’t hesitate to dial the number.

"Who?" His deep voice pierced through her ear like a growl.

"It’s Talia," She spat. "Your mate’s friend. Do you have any F**KING idea where she is??"

*

Nancy gasped in pain as she was flung towards a tree again, before falling on her face, her hair ruffled. Her nose and the side of her lips were bleeding profusely.

Excited shrill laughters echoed above her in the air as she slowly got up, holding onto the side of the tree for dear life.

"Alright," One suddenly stopped laughing. "Play time’s over. Let’s go."

"You’re coming with us." The other added in amusement, seeing the confused look on Nancy’s face.

They had few scratches on their faces which were slowly healing, evident that their fight with Nancy wasn’t one sided. However, she was outnumbered, so they still had the upper hand over her.

Before Nancy could make a move, one blew dark smoke particles from her hand and the girl fell to the ground, weak and unconscious.

*

Raiden entered the office.

"The entire pack is surrounded by the pack warriors. Everyone is on the look out for her. If she hasn’t been taken away, that is."

Liliana entered after. She looked furious.

"You two were together! How could she have gotten that far to be accosted by Kitsunes!"

Koan sighed and rubbed the bridge of his nose.

"I really don’t have time to argue with you Liliana. Can we just focus on the matter before us now?"

Liliana was furious. With BOTH men. But she managed to fold her arms across her chest with a smouldering look on her face as she muttered.

"If anything happens to her," She looked at Koan. "I’ll hate you."

With that, she leaves, and he just stared at in disbelief.

Raiden folded his arms.

"What did you do?"

Koan glared at him.

"Why Is everyone assuming I had something to do with her disappearance?"

"She’s usually glued to you, you must have done something to push her away from you."

Koan was about to answer when he saw his phone ringing again.

He sighed at the familiar number before picking up.

"What now?"

"I’m close."

His frown deepened.

"What do you mean?"

Talia looked out the window of the car she was in speeding towards Crescent Moon’s pack boundary.

"I’m close to your pack."

"What?!"

"Do you realize what it means for the Kitsunes to have her under their mercy? Do you know just how important she is to me... at least not you... but to me. Do you know that?"

"There is no need for you to come. We can handle this."

She sneered.

"They took your mate right under your nose, Alpha."

"Y.... "

"You don’t have the rights to tell me not to worry about my best friend. And I can choose to come look for her if I want. If something happens to her, I don’t think I’ll be able to forgive myself."

"Talia..."

"Her father never loved her. Her step mother never did and they’re planning on giving away her rights to a snobbish princess who doesn’t deserve it. And still, all she ever wanted was for her mate to love her and accept her. She never did anything to you Koan! She just wanted the love she never got since childhood. And you... you pushed her away. ... This is all your fault."

She ended the call, and Koan just stared at the phone blankly.

"Who was that?" Raiden asked.

"Talia. She’s coming here. She’s close even. Inform the warriors to let her through."

Raiden surprised, but it didn’t really show if he was or not. The shock of Nancy’s disappearance still left a bad taste on his tongue, so he was still trying to accommodate the shocking news.

"Sure."

Raiden left while Koan collapsed on his seat, his face still in disbelief. He thought about the last time he saw Nancy, the look of hurt and acception in her eyes.

Subconsciously he held his chest and bent low, close to his desk, feeling a slight pang of pain which he had never felt before.

Was it her disappearance that made him feel this way?

After a while, Raiden burst through the doors holding a bracelet.

"Did ... Was Nancy perhaps wearing this today."

Koan caught the bracelet which he threw mid air and stared at it with a complicated expression which remained that way for several minutes.

After some time, he began to tremble as the bracelet fell at his side of the desk as he held his head with two hands.

"Koan!" Raiden was at his side immediately

He had NEVER see him like this before.

Of course Koan had seen the bracelet, she had been wearing it this morning.

But he just had one disturbing question to ask...

"Why the f**k does it have blood stains over it?!"

Chapter 123

A groan was heard past the crackling of fire, in the underground dungeons.

Nancy slowly opened her eyes, and reflexively moved her hand to touch her aching head, but her eyes flew open on hearing the clanging of chains.

She looked about her and gasped, struggling, only to groan painfully at the tight grip the clamp had around her wrists.

Unfortunately, each wrist of hers was chained to the sides of both walls facing each other in the cell room. Her legs were free, but she was so weak, she was on her knees. Her hands hurt, mostly her wrists, her knees felt cold against the floor. Come to think of it, the entire prison cell she was in was so cold, any normal human would have frozen to death since.

Dried blood stains were at the side of her lip and nose, and her eyes were very heavy, thus, it was half closed as she panted, looking around.

Where the f**k was she?

She tried to get up, but the chains bound to her wrists made it quiet impossible, so she fell back to her knees again with a loud gasp, chains jiggling and echoing in the room.

"Easy there," Someone suddenly appeared before her and she scrambled back, chains jiggling nosily. "I doubt struggling will do you good. You’d just keep getting hurt."

Nancy eyed her cautiously. This Kitsune was in her supernatural form. She had short pink hair and dark gold eyes and she had countless tails swishing behind her, emitting a dark aura.

Anyone from afar would think she was nice and vulnerable with her Angelic expression, but Nancy knew better than to fall for it. They were foxes and their kind was cunning, dangerous and deceitful.

"I’m Beth," she suddenly pulled something which she had been holding into view, and Nancy saw it was a glass of water. "What’s your name?"

She subconsciously licked her lips, aware of how parched her throat was. It felt like she had been roaming the deserts and hadn’t felt a single drop of water slide down her throat.

"H... How long have I been out." She asked, ignoring the previous question. However, Beth didn’t mind and just answered nonchalantly.

"For a few hours...."

Nancy was a bit relieved seeing as the water was meant for her since she stooped low to give it to her, but her expression paled when she saw Beth put her finger in the water and stir.

It suddenly turned a blue-crimson color, so bright, it was reflecting off Nancy’s face, to the wall.

"Here, you must be very thirsty."

Nancy looked away, giving Beth a view of her profile as she spat out.

"What’s that?!"

The woman was no longer smiling as she forcefully held Nancy’s chin with the cup hovering at her throat.

However, her frown was suddenly replaced by a tight lipped smile.

"You don’t have to worry about anything anymore. Alpha Nancy."

Just as Nancy was about to express shock of the name reveal, Beth tugged on the chains holding up her left wrist, and as she gasped in pain, the Kitsune poured the entire contents, following up a quick grab on her small nose, leaving her no choice but to swallow everything.

As Beth stands up, floating back, a satisfactory smile on her lips, Nancy coughed and spluttered, grimacing at the slight bitter taste in her mouth.

She couldn’t help but burst into tears the next minute as she bowed her head down, feeling helpless.

The Kitsune vanished without a word and Nancy stopped crying after, breathing hard, her legs placed in a criss cross pose, her chest slowly rising and falling.

As she looked up, several shades of pink were swirling in her eyes. They swirled around in quick rotational movements, that they suddenly began to glow softly, her hands fisted as she growled, forcing herself to smash out of the chains, but something repelled the chains against her, and the clamps around her wrists tightened, causing a scream to escape her lips which echoed in the dungeon; up to the throne room.

The soft glow in her eyes died down, and her head fell back in helplessness once again. Her heart cleanched as she remembered Koan.

Had he figured out she was missing?

Did he care?

Would he come to find her?

What about Talia?

What was her next move going to be?

All these thoughts roamed around her like annoying buzzing flies, and she could only but fall asleep, tear marks drying up on her face.

Meanwhile, in the throne room, The king’s royal warriors, Tina and Trixie were standing side by side on the air, several glowing glass bulbs around them.

Meanwhile, at the side of the throne room were two witches stirring something simultaneously in a cauldron. They had pained looks on their faces, and each of their legs were being chained to the wall, leaving no room for protest or escape.

Whatever they were stirring in the cauldron was emitting the same blue-crimson glow as the one Nancy was being forced to drink earlier.

But the two were ignored, especially by the King who was more interested in staring at the glass ball which Tina had brought closer to him.

"My daughter." His voice was shaky and croaked as he held the ball, bringing it close. For a milli-second, there was a softness, just for a short while as he stared at Naomi.

However, his expression turned back to normal, with a hint of darkness when he saw her sitting beside someone, picking on something while shyly talking to him.

"Who is this?" He asked with a snort.

"He’s the reason she’s not yet willing to follow us here your majesty," Trixie replied with folded arms. "He’s her mate... Alpha Daniel."

The man’s eyes suddenly showed pure hate as he glared at Daniel.

"Kill him."

The two Kitsunes exchanged crude smiles before Tina spoke.

"May I suggest something your majesty?"

The King waved his hand, suggesting they take the ball away from his sight, before waving his hand to Tina to continue.

"What if she kills him instead?"

Chapter 124

The King paused for a while, his fingers slowly tapping at the arm of his throne.

He looked over at the witches with disinterest before looking away,

"We’ll need to brainwash her if that’s going to be possible," he snorted. "She seems to have feelings for the dog." His voice was full of so much hate and disgust.

"That’s not a problem~" Tina drawled. "We’ll capture more witches. But they’re so impossible to persuade," she waved her arms nonchalantly. "From 340 Witches we kidnapped, only these two morons were sensible enough to help us with our plan."

"Then kidnap more witches! We need enough of that .... that... " He waved towards the cauldron emitting a blue-crimson glow

"Brain-washing Potion." Trixie meekly said, and hid a smile when the king glared at her .

"So many things to do... We already have the female Alpha." Tina softly mumbled.

"I need the heads of three mated Alphas to conclude the ritual when I’m free from here... "

"And you’ll get your three mated Alphas your majesty." Tina assured him.

With that, Tina opened her palm and three smaller glass orbs stood apart, above her open palm, showing three mated Alphas destinied to be killed.

Alpha Justin of Moon Howler’s pack

Alpha Drake of Crimson moon’s pack

and

Alpha Henry of Ruby Stone’s pack

The King looked disinterested as he said,

"That man... Alpha Koan... kill him too. I feel he might disturb us while trying to save his pathetic mate in the dungeon." He sneered.

"Yes... your majesty." They bowed before leaving his prescence, flying out of the throne room like missiles.

*

Daniel sat on the picnic blanket laid out with one leg stretched and the other, knee bent up with his arm astride it as he watched Naomi make a peanut butter sandwich with interest.

Once in a while, their eyes would meet and she would coyly look down, ignoring him his mock smile.

"Stop doing that." She snapped, glancing up to lock eyes with him.

His lips finally moved and he smirked audaciously. "Doing what?"

She ignored his question, well aware he would do anything to make her crack and watch her break into tiny pieces.

"Where are the others?" She sort of enjoyed the priceless peace of being on her own without Dora hovering around Daniel like she did when they first sat down to eat. That was an unbearable moment she would never want to be in again.

But Barton and Dora has been missing for a while now, and she was uneasy. What if Barton had ...

No... he wouldn’t. He hated her, but he wouldn’t, right?

But Daniel shrugged, uninterested.

Naomi pursed her lips as she dropped the peanut butter sandwich on a paper plate before stretching it out to him.

Daniel ignored her outstretched hand.

"Did Barton pack any liquor in there?"

"There’s Lemon juice. You were suffering a hangover this morning and you still want to drink?"

"If I’m drunk, I sort of forget everything that revolves around me. It’s just me, and my drink."

"What’s there to forget," She starts to make another peanut butter sandwich, a small smile glinting in her eyes when Daniel starts to eat his own sandwich. She was well aware of Daniel’s favorite sandwich, and she knew he couldn’t resist peanut butter. "You don’t have any problems," He looked herr away, stopping mid-way on munching his food.

Naomi stiffened under his gaze, feeling his eyes bore holes through her mask.

"Why do you say so?"

"Because..."

"I’m the Alpha? Is that want you think."

"Not just that. I mean... you don’t have to look In the mirror everyday and be like ’For more than two decades of my life, it’s been all based on a lie.’ You know who your parents are, and you know what you are."

Daniel finished his sandwich just as she finished hers.

"How old are you?"

Naomi paused, she was about pouring a glass of lemon juice for him.

"What?"

He wiped his hand on a napkin before tossing it aside.

"How old are you?"

"T- twenty five... I’ll be twenty five soon."

He suddenly smirked and looked down, pulling out his phone without a word.

Naomi just stared at him In disbelief.

*

Dora folded her arms as she walked behind Barton, glaring at him.

"You promised if I help you with searching for the gun apple tree, you’d do my math classes homework and write my exam, and now you’re telling me we’re lost?!" She screamed at him.

She didn’t see him roll his eyes before he turned.

"The gun tree is in a really complicated location, so you don’t expect me to find it like a pro."

"Well, I didn’t expect you to get us lost! Why did we even need to find the stupid ttree anyway."

Barton shrugged and replied honestly. "My mum needs them. The tree grows these type of special apples ... I don’t know... you can ask her more questions when we get home."

"I could have been spending time with Daniel right now! You could have asked me to do anything in return for doing my homework. Why didn’t you ask Naomi instead," When she didn’t get a reply, her eyes narrowed. "Did you want to leave them alone? With each other?"

When she still didn’t get a reply, she quickened her pace and with gritted teeth, grabbed his wrist to spin him around, but Barton surprised her.

With an annoyed growl, he turned and grabbed her shoulders instead, pushing her backwards till she was pressed hard against the tree, sandwiched between him and the bark.

"You’re so f**king annoying, huh? Do you know that?!"

She panted hard in his face with an angry expression, her eyes twitching.

"I don’t know what you think you’re doing, playing cupid, but we both know," a painful smirk crawled on her lips. "Who he’s going to mark."

"Not you obviously."

"How are you so sure? Will you kill me?"

He smirked and released his shoulders from her grip before pushing his hands to flatten on the bark of the tree at either sides of her head.

She glanced down at her own lips when she felt his hot breath fan them. She half closed her eyes and involuntarily parted her lips.

"Oh, There are many other ways Dora..." she grabbed his wrist just as he caressed her chin with his fingers, but he pushed her hand aside and leaned in close, so close their lips was only half-inch apart.

".... pleasurable ways... "

"Barton." She softly moaned, as he lips went past hers to latch onto the area at the side of her neck.

Chapter 125

She pushed him aside, such that he stepped three paces back before she escaped from his grip, running away.

Barton just stood there with a complicated expression, before a small smile rose up on his face. After a short while, he followed her, stiffling a soft chuckle.

Soon, he caught up with her. She had stopped long ago, and was staring in shock at the apple gun tree before her, not noticing his prescence for a few minutes, her mouth parted open in shock .

"T- This is the gun tree?" She stuttered, subconsciously moving close to put her hand on the bark, going round and feeling the rough bark against her palm.

Barton simply moved close and stretched his hand up without any effort, reaching up to grab an apple. Once he brought it down to her face level, he showed her the apple and she came close to peer at it.

"It’s just a normal apple," she said as she stole a glance at him, but he was already looking at her, so their gazes locked for a few seconds. She looked back down, avoiding his eyes brimming of something unfathomable. "What makes it special from any other apple from a normal apple tree."

"Witches usually use these apples to make all of their potions. It’s quite rare, yet very mandatory in all their potion’s formula. Like water. We can’t do without it while cooking."

Dora’s eyes suddenly gleamed in interest as she stared intently at the apple before glancing up at Barton again, this time with curiosity.

"Can I eat it... "

He handed it to her.

"Of course you can, it’s an apple."

She rolled her eyes at his sarcarstic comment before sinking her teeth into it, taking a bite and chewing it, closing her eyes while relishing the sweet unique taste of the fruit.

Barton didn’t hesitate, the next minute, he had pulled out a polythene nylon folded into his pockets, and soon he was moving around the tree, filling the bag with the apples.

Dora watched him, lazily chewing on the apple in her grasp.

*

Daniel had his knees hunched up to his chin, his arms folded around them as he looked at her.

He wasn’t concentrating on the third peanut butter sandwich she was making for him, but on her.

Her eyes were cast low, and her brows were knotted in concerntration. From all her visible features so far, she looked like she was hellbent on what she was doing.

She was so engrossed in making the sandwich, she didn’t realize that Daniel had lowered his eyes to watch the way she smeared the peanut butter all over the bread.

For a while, there was silence until she glanced up innocently,

"Here- "

He slowly took it without a word.

"Did you know Naomi?"

"What?" She couldn’t help but gasp.

He narrowed his eyes at her, not even eating immediately as before.

"She had ... She had the same name as you, but I was wondering if maybe you met her? Since you worked at the mansion as a child. She did to. She was... "

Not wanting to sound suspicious, she asked.

"No I... didn’t, what do you mean by ’She had the same name as me?’"

His sandwich finally slipped from his hand and fell to the paper plate, and he looked away.

"She’s dead."

There was silence for a while, until she finally found the guts to speak,

"Why did you ask?"

"The way you smear the peanut butter over the bread... it’s similar to how she does mine when I was little," he suddenly chuckled softly, and she just silently watched him. "She would make one for me everyday, even when I would go to school hungry because I was mad at my dad, she would always bring me a peanut butter sandwich at school. I once asked her how she did it, and she showed me, and that’s when I derived some sort of fun watching her smear it over the bread like that."

Naomi didn’t say anything, but quietly took her own sandwich to eat. She would slip it into her mouth from her mask and chew on it. She had been doing this since the picnic begun, and despite all the weird looks she got from Daniel, she was scared, anticipating when he would question her about her mask again.

"I miss her." She suddenly heard him whisper, and she froze.

After another round of uncomfortable silence passed, she asked.

"Just... how special was she to you?"

"She was as special as my peanut butter sandwiches." He replied. It a way, it hurt her heart, that she was this special to him, but she couldn’t help but smile just as he did at the joke.

"She’s gone... but that doesn’t mean you won’t find anyone special to you. Someone you’d cherish more than her?" She said, but regretted it the next Minute when he looked at her with a complicated expression.

"Like Dora?" A crude, mock smirk appeared on his lips.

She didn’t reply, but glanced down to pull off a blue berry and slip it into her mouth.

"Or maybe you?"

She froze, a blue berry mid way close to her face when she felt him approach her. She stiffened and looked up, only to scrambled back, before he finally stopped crawling towards her, not wanting to tease her anymore for fear that she should run away and get lost herself.

However, there was still that mock smirk on his face which infuriated her.

"Well to answer your question," her face fell at his next words. "I don’t think I’d find anyone as special as her."

She felt her heart swell, at the same time clench. She feigned nonchalance as she snuck a blue berry Into her mouth, before asking,

"What If she’s not dead... "

On seeing the look he gave her, she blushed, quickly reconstructing her words.

"I mean... what if she was just in another pack, and didn’t want you to know she was alive."

He suddenly frowned, and his gaze turned suspicious. She felt that her question was a bit too direct, and she regretted asking it as the last minute, but she really wanted to know his answer.

What would he do if he found out she was still alive, after all these years?

Chapter 126

Naomi uncomfortably shifted where she sat up, busying herself with picking the fruits. This time, she didn’t have the appetite to eat anymore, so she just plucked them off and kept them on a laid out paper plate, not wanting to meet with his eyes again.

When he didn’t look like he’d reply, she added,

"Won’t you be happy? To see her after all these years?"

"Happy?" he laughed. It was bitter and painful, so painful, she stopped the small smile threatening to crawl up on her lips.

"Won’t you? You said you miss her."

"Yeah. I missed her when she died and left me all alone when she promised she’d be by my side forever. She didn’t do anything, she didn’t offend a single person, she didn’t even live long, we didn’t spend as much time as I wanted us to, and she died," he faced her squarely and explained to her, almost like he was talking to the Naomi he knew previously. "If I find out that she’s been alive all these years, with no memory loss, and she realized just how miserable and sadistic I’d be without her, thinking that she was actually dead, for all these years... "

Her heart thumped hard and loud against her rib cage as she waited for the rest of his sentence,

"I’ll kill her." He said, with no single iota of emotion on his face, almost seemingly expressionless.

He didn’t even notice as Naomi’s face paled, the way she leaned back into her sitting position, the way her eyes widened as he solemnly bent to eat his sandwich.

*

~Days later~

Alpha Joseph had a grave expression on his face as he sat side by side with his mate, Luna Luan watching as the witch sat before a glass orb, twisting her hands above it, muttering strange words they couldn’t comprehend.

The couple would exchange glances once in a while, but they would later still fix their gaze on the witch.

The witch had been living amongst them for some days after pleading that their kind was in danger.

In danger of the Kitsunes.

The Kitsunes have been almost extinct for many years, how come they suddenly existed and were already causing havoc amongst the witches?

The witch who had managed to escape the clutches of the foxes could only reveal that they were in some sort of plan which would cause an even greater havoc, this time, on the werewolf territory if they didn’t act quick.

This was the reason the Alpha wanted to have a meeting in his pack as soon as possible. But with the prophecy the witch was about to make today, it seemed the meeting had to be called in much sooner .

Finally, once the witch removed her hands, the couple peered close to see three people standing side by side In different geographical areas.

They recognized them immediately.

Alpha Justin of Moon Howler’s pack

Alpha Drake of Crimson moon’s pack

and Alpha Henry of Ruby Stone’s pack

They turned to the witch in confusion, but she was also confused as well,

"My powers are weak, and this is the farthest I could see. These three men... should be protected at all cost... "

"I don’t understand, is it something you witches know amongst yourselves? Do you suddenly want people to protect whoever you see In your vision? Honey... I suggest we get a Shaman." Luan was uncomfortable about the whole idea of this witch being let into their territory in the first place.

Joseph only had a grave expression on his face, but it suddenly turned shades darker when he noticed what the two other women in the room had noticed,

Alpha Drake’s figure in the glass orb was slowly fading, and before their very eyes, it faded away, almost immediately.

"N- No," the witch looked at them with horror in her eyes, as she stepped back, away from her glass orb like it was a disgusting animal. "It can’t be! They couldn’t have seen the vision that fast! They just have had the help of my sisters and brothers!"

"Speak witch!" Joseph thundered while Luan was already irritated enough. "What’s happening."

She looked from Luan who had an indifferent look to Alpha Joseph.

"Alpha Drake of Crimson moon’s pack has been killed," Her expression was cold, but not sad. After all, she shared no deep connection with the Alpha. She only feared that the Kitsunes weren’t even hesitating in completing steps to their plans. "Alpha Justin and Alpha Henry are left, we have to ensure that... "

"You are joking! Is this some kind of trick?!" Joseph roared at her.

"No, it’s not!"

"My brother can’t be dead!" Luan yelled, her heart beating hard, despite trying to ensure herself that the witch didn’t have an idea of what she was saying. "We just spoke on the phone last night about the future meeting. He was fine! He was alive!" She turned to the witch. "He can’t be dead!"

Joseph had pulled out his phone and have been trying to call the Alpha, but he was not picking up. He decided to call Beta Samuel, Alpha Drake’s Beta, but he wasn’t picking up as well,

His fears began to come true, and his disbeliefs were cleared up as he stared at the witch in horror. Luan who was still confidently waiting for her brother to pick up, hoping that this was a joke, was jaw dropped when her husband walked past her, leaving her alone In the living room as he strides outside, not a hint of amusement or smile on his face.

"Joseph?" She glanced at the witch whose gaze was fixed on the orb. Alpha Drake’s figure was completely wiped out, Alpha Justin and Alpha Henry were left standing side by side on the orb. "Joseph!" She growled and ran out, leaving the witch alone.

Suddenly the picture on the orb starts changing. The witch got close, and it showed two people on the orb this time. One was Naomi, but since she was an Omega in her pack, the witch didn’t recognize her, but her eyes widened when she saw the woman had similar features to Queen Moana, late Queen of the Kitsunes.

This was probably her daughter!

She was all grown up. Where could she be? Why was she in her vision ?

As if being shocked at her similar features wasn’t enough, the male standing beside Naomi on the orb was so familiar, she almost coughed on her own saliva on seeing him, standing side by side with Naomi with several Kitsunes bowing before them.

She knew this man so well.

And this wasn’t just an Omega werewolf.

Chapter 127

Talia’s arms were folded as she sat on the floor, her back against the bark of a tree, while Liliana was seated beside her, her head leaning on her shoulder as they stared at Koan who was standing side by side with Raiden, a large group of pack warriors behind them.

There was silence, not a single trace of smiles or amusement on anyone’s faces as he made a call. His face turned grave at each second over the phone until he finally placed the phone away, placing a gun at the other side of his pocket.

"Well," Talia got up. "Who called?"

Koan turned to Raiden before glaring at the women who were standing side by side with similar probing expressions.

"It was Alpha Joseph."

Silence; as they waited still for the explanation of the grave expression on his face.

"Alpha Drake of Crimson Moon’s pack is dead."

There was a traditional full minute silence as they all bowed their heads down, including Koan.

Liliana spoke first when Koan raised his hand, tiredly running his hand through his hair.

"How did he die?"

"He was killed... so far that’s all I heard. But right now, we have to go to head to Ruby Stone’s pack."

Talia frowned.

"Why? Does this have anything to do with Nancy?"

"Look, I don’t know okay?"

"Well, we just stop looking for my best friend? Is that it?"

"Well, the Kitsunes took her, right?!" He suddenly yelled back, finally loosing control after all these while of holding back. The restraints. He was slowly loosing his mind. Everyone assumed that he didn’t care but he did. They’ve been on the search for Nancy for days, but how could they find Foxtune? Did they even have a clue of where they could have taken her?

"We head to Ruby Stone’s pack like he said." He wanted to say more before that, but he just bluntly gave the order, and without a word, hopped into the car, Raiden following suit, while Talia and Liliana simultaneously got in after exchanging reluctant glances.

There were Eleven other cars behind them as Raiden drove off, occupying more that five pack warriors in each.

*

Alpha Kris of Silver Moon’s pack was in a meeting on the OTHER SIDE. Aside being an Alpha, he also had duties there, so on hearing the news about Alpha Drake’s sudden death, the white sheet of paper he was holding in the meeting couldn’t hold a candle to how he paled on hearing the news.

He excused himself and stepped out, pulling his phone and dialling his son’s number before waiting, hearing it ring continuously, just like his pounding heart.

What the f**k was actually going on? He was obviously killed, but Drake wasn’t one to give up in a fight. Whoever had killed him must have been very strong. Why would they kill an Alpha? All these questions rampaged in his head for a while, he thought of coming back, but realizing he had two grown up sons back home, he didn’t bother himself.

"Hey Dad." He heard Jephthah speak, but was also aware John was at the other side, they had probably heard the news.

"Did Alpha Joseph call?" He simply asked with a grave expression.

A woman suddenly stepped out of the office to beckon him in but he brought up two of his fingers, which insinuated, he needed two more minutes to round up the call.

Once the woman entered back inside, he turned to his phone.

"Yes he did... We informed him you weren’t around, so now John and I are about heading to Ruby Stone’s pack. Your Beta will handle things from here."

"Make sure to take the pack warriors with you. I’m busy now, but I just wanted to tell you two to be careful... especially that brother of yours. He forgets I love him just as much as I love you. He shouldn’t go around, risking his life carelessly... he has an Alpha’s blood running through him no matter what."

He heard a snort from the other line. Even the moon goddess didn’t need to tell him who had done that. However, he was currently needed In the meeting and had to leave.

After confirming from Jephthah that they would be careful, he ended the call, and proceeded into the office.

According to Alpha Joseph’s orders, he, Alpha of Shadow Slayer’s pack and Alpha Cardin of Blood Moon’s pack would head down to Moon Howler’s pack, While Alpha Koan of Crescent Moon’s pack, along with whoever will represent him, Aloha Kris from Silver Moon’s pack, will head down to Ruby Stone’s pack.

Note, we have,

Alpha Daniel of Dark Risers’s pack

Alpha Justin of Moon Howler’s pack

Alpha Koan of Crescent Moon’s pack

Late Alpha Drake of Crimson Moon’s pack

Alpha Cardin of Blood Moon’s pack

Alpha Kris of Silver Moon’s pack

Alpha Joseph of Shadow Slayer’s pack

and Alpha Henry of Ruby Stone’s pack.

Currently in Dark Risers’s pack, the news of Alpha Drake’s death had been spread, such that everyone was now on their toes, aware that something dangerous was on the loose. Killing an Alpha was hard... almost impossible. But only one creature could easily finish them off, and the older ones feared they might be in existence once again.

After Alpha Joseph and Alpha Cardin must have successfully helped Alpha Justin sneak out of his pack, they would arrive at Ruby Stone’s pack, thus all the Alphas of the werewolf territory pack would be present there, so Daniel was ordered to head to Ruby Stone’s pack with several of his pack warriors. Luckily, Daniel and Barton had found the time to train with them during their spare time sessions, so Daniel knew a couple few hundred they could take Along with him. He had sent them to Ruby Stone’s pack ahead of them.

In Moon Howler’s pack, Alpha Justin was also well aware of the news, but didn’t know he was about to have visitors very soon, Ciara however was persistent about him calling out his pack warriors to guard the area.

"What? Are you suggesting that a particular assassin is Killing Alphas or something?" He snorted at Ciara’s grave expression before coaxing her, slowly running his hand through her hair before bringing down his fingers to caress her face. "Maybe, Alpha Drake had some unfinished business with someone... there could be several explanations for what happened earlier, but you don’t expect me to start panicking just because of that."

Chapter 128

Ciara grabbed the hand caressing her face, looking up at him with stern eyes.

"I know what I’m talking about Justin. Call the pack warriors and have them guard the place, call Lebanon... he can be your personal guard so... "

"Ciara," he called, impatience laced in his voice, yet not wanting to yell at her. "You’re overreacting."

"I swear I have a bad feeling, but why would I expect more from you. Why would I expect you to listen to me." With that, she left his prescence, visibly furious.

A pretty girl with back length brown hair and huge round chocolate brown eyes, stepped into the room, holding textbooks.

"Dad, why’s step mum angry?"

"It’s nothing sweetie, please go back to your room." He managed a smile as she said, but his smile threatened to crack when his son Dimitri, just 15 walked in.

"Why’s mum mad?"

"Can you two get into your respective rooms, I have to make a very important call now." He lied.

Once they leave, he fell back against his bed, exhausted.

Alpha Koan of Crescent Moon’s pack was already on the way to Alpha Henry’s pack alone with his Beta, cousin, and Talia... who hated him. It was obvious from the scowls and glance of disgust.

There was a grave silence in the car as they drove down there, each other anticipating what would happen if they arrive there, Nancy on everyone’s mind as well.

She has been missing for several days now... was it possible she could be dead?

"Do you think the Kitsunes killed Alpha Drake?" Liliana broke through the silence.

"Who else could have?" Koan snorted.

Talia ignored him, but added still,

"What if it’s part of their plan or something," She was holding her phone. "My Alpha just called to inform me they were heading to Moon Howler’s pack. What if, Alpha Joseph knows what is happening? What if he knows the Kitsunes are going to kill more Alphas... "

Raiden suddenly realizes what she meant and finishes up for her,

"... and he’s asking us to join another Alphas at a pack so that we could join forces and fight back if the need arises."

"Guys, Alpha Henry’s still alive, but isn’t Nancy still alive... doesn’t she have the blood of an Alpha," Everyone turned grave. "and since she’s rare... a female ruler... she... "

"Don’t say it," Koan glared at her, despite the uneasy feeling in his chest. "She’s alive."

"How do you know?" Liliana shot back at him.

"I know because she’s my mate. If she does die," He breathed in and out slowly, "I will know."

"You haven’t marked her." Raiden pointed out.

"That’s why I couldn’t find her easily. There are advantages to having your mate and greater advantages to giving her the mark."

"Which if you had, we wouldn’t take days to find her." Talia announced.

Koan didn’t reply but simply looked out the window, not wanting to look at anyone or talk to them.

There was Chaos in Crimson’s Moon pack. Everyone was confused, everyone was mourning as to how they lost their Alpha in just one day... just like that.

Luna Tessa didn’t want to speak to anyone, and had remained in her room in grave silence which everyone perfectly understood.

Loosing a mate was one thing, it was painful. It would feel as though, your heart was being ripped out of your chest and was held beating and dripping with blood right Infront of your face.

No one dared disturb her.

It was even more grave that he did not have a child. Alpha Drake was just in his early thirties, he didn’t expect that he would come to an end this way, thus Luna Tessa wasn’t even pregnant, talk more of having a child.

Alpha Cardin was already on the move with Beta Royce and some pack warriors, heading for Moon Howler’s pack. Brittany remained to handle some issues in the pack.

"Where did you say your sister is again?" Alpha Cardin said with a sigh, leaning back into his chair.

Royce tiredly rubbed his hand across his face.

"She said she was heading to Crescent Moon’s pack."

"For what exactly?"

"Said something about Nancy... I don’t know."

"I thought she said Nancy was back at Ruby Stone’s," he rolled his eyes in annoyance. "Expected her to be in Silver Moon’s pack with that boyfriend of hers."

Royce just gave him a look, but he said nothing. He was aware of Cardin’s feelings for his sister, but even as his best friend, he couldn’t advice him to express his feelings for her, well aware of the mutual connection she and Jephthah shared.

It wasn’t something for him to ruin or poke his nose into.

He wanted to tell Cardin it was to late to make any further moves to his sister, but he hoped he was smart enough to figure it out himself.

He sighed as he saw the necklace dangling from the car’s mirror, bearing a pendant, B.

He already missed Brittany. He wanted her to join them, but he still insisted her to stay back since he wasn’t so sure what they were going to face there.

In Silver Moon’s pack, As John drove the car with several others behind theirs, Jephthah who was seated on the Passenger’s seat was contemplating on calling Talia. Her flight back to Paris would be next Tomorrow, and with what was happening, he wasn’t sure if he’d make it.

His thumb danced over the screen of his phone as he contemplated whether to call her or not, but after a while, he just kept it aside with a sigh. He’ll have to do everything possible to ensure he was the one who dropped her off at the airport that day.

It was the most special day for her considering it will be the last time they would see each other for a while.

"Would you stop doing that." Jephthah said with another irritated sigh as John kept rubbing the back of his head with one hand, leaving his one hand on the steering wheel. John wasn’t one to expertly drive with one hand.

"It felt like I was knocked out unconscious at the back of my head."

"When you were getting sucked off by Amelie just before hearing the news, you should have hit your head across a blade of knife and not some bed head board."

Chapter 129

"If you’ve had a real blowjob and not a single rub on session with Talia, you’d understand what I mean by I was literally floating."

Jephthah blushed as he glanced at the other side, Talia on his mind again, this time doing something else... something lewd.

"So... you and Amelia are just... what? Friends?" He tried to change the subject. That’s what he thought they were though, until he caught them... caught her with her mouth on... he blushed angrily at the thought.

"More like friends with benefits."

"Not to pry, but, I really thought you and Amelie would eventually develop a mutual relationship between each other."

John laughed for so long, his twin ended up frowning at him.

"I’m. Sorry." He said in-between laughs, before he finally added, "Did you say ’mutual’? Between us? Like me and Amelie"

"What’s wrong with that?"

John just waved him off.

"She’s not my type."

"That’s what you always say, and you end up... sleeping with them, or letting them suck you off in the middle of a serious situation."

"Right. But I never see them as my potential mate."

"So who’s your type?"

John smirked, ready to tease him.

"Someone like Talia."

He didn’t even turn to see his expression change as he mentioned her name, still, he continued.

"Maybe, we might eventually end up being mated to her, like the twin bond thing I was telling you about."

He finally turned to Jephthah who had a blank expression on his face.

"What do you think?"

It was all jokes and teasing, but he wanted to know what Jephthah thought about it. About them eventually getting mated to Talia. What would happen then?

"Nothing."

John almost coughed up blood, but managed to hold onto the steering wheel as the car skidded left, almost out of track.

"What?!"

Jephthah turned to him with that same blank expression.

"If you’re her mate too... what more can I do? Kill you? I would be depriving you of your mate, and would be hurting Talia. I can’t do that."

"But you want her all to yourself don’t you? You look like the possessive type, even your wolf won’t like the idea."

"I won’t mind." Jephthah quietly said, before rolling the window down and glancing out, a silent expression which meant that the conversation was over.

*

"Bring forth the female Alpha." The King ordered, and two Kitsunes, Beth and another with sunshine yellow hair disappeared from his prescence.

Still at the corner of the throne room, something like a hole was made at the exact place where two witches were stirring something in a cauldron days ago.

From the hole, there was a soft color of blue-crimson glow emitting from it. If you looked down, you’d see more witches inside.

Some were peeling the back off the gun apples, sitting down on the cold floors, while some were stirring something in the cauldron, the rest were mixing things inside.

A single Kitsune was on the watch, Incase they tried anything funny, or they wanted her to get something for the potion they were cooking up.

Every single witch in the room, aside been from the same specie had one thing in common. Each one of their legs was chained, pinned to the wall. It allowed them easy movement around the underground dug up, but it will be impossible for them to escape.

Beth and her partner, Deborah, the sunshine colored hair beauty appeared before Nancy.

She wasn’t chained up anymore, but she was seated at the corner of the cell with her head down to the ground, her legs awkwardly crossed underneath her.

Her hands were placed weakly at her sides, and she showed no sign of even moving as they floated towards her.

There were several empty cups around the cell, countless. They were empty, but you could see a soft fading flow of blue-crimson off them.

They held her up, arm by arm before vanishing and appearing before the king. Just as they did, they let her down to fall on her knees and head before him, floating in the air, backing away from them.

The King stared at the rare gem before him with slight interest, but just as usual, it was gone in a flicker of light, and all that ever remained was boredom and slight disgust, aware of the specie she identified with.

"Rise." He ordered, and like a feather, she floated off the floor, her legs measureble inches off the ground, her head thrown back with an expressionless face, her eyes closed.

With a wave of his mind, he constructed a glass ball, with another careless wave, he moved the glass ball towards her.

Nancy slowly opened her eyes. There were dark circles under them, and they were drowsy, but In the glass ball, she was able to see Koan in the passenger seat of a car, along with Raiden, Liliana and Talia.

Her eyes brimmed with tears before she slowly blinked them away, a painful expression on her face.

"Like I predicted, they’re on their way to disrupting my plan," He tone became lethal. "Kill them... all of them."

Nancy closed her eyes painfully and held the side of her head.

"N- No. N- No." She kept chanting to herself, curling up into a tight ball in the air, holding her head tight. "No. No. I won’t... I can’t. I won’t do it. I can’t."

The King arched a brow and looked at the two Kitsunes.

"I thought you gave her enough potion for these past few days..."

The two women also looked at Nancy In disbelief.

"W... We did your majesty. It’s not impossible, but she’s fighting your orders."

He waved his hand nonchalantly.

"Well, give her more potions then."

"It isn’t ready your majesty." Deborah finally said, bowing her low.

"Impudence!" He roared and the two creatures floated back in fear. He glared at Nancy before yelling at the top of his voice.

"You will arise, go to them and kill every single one of them, and you will return with the Alpha, dead or alive. Whichever, I need proof that he’s dead!"

Chapter 130

There was a stand still silence as the two women stared at the girl who slowly removed her hands from her head, before falling to bow before him, her head down.

"Yes... Your majesty."

With that, she looked up, and he could see the blue-crimson glow in her eyes, not a trace of pink in them.

As if she had been prepared for this, they had clad her in their warrior clothes which consisted of a long gown with slits at the sides, exposing her fair thighs down to her ankle.

She was barefoot, and her hair was let down In waves to match the firy blue-crimson glow in her eyes. There were iron bracelets on both wrists. This what what Beth, Deborah, Trixie, Tina and every Kitsune warrior wore.

And now, she was ready to leave. To follow the king’s orders flawlessly. Her emotionless eyes, void of anything stared blankly at the people in the glass ball, before she left the prescence of the king.

"What if she snaps out of it. You saw that she was struggling at first and that... " Beth was cut off by a glare from the king and she floated beside Deborah, keeping her head down like she did.

"Make sure," With that, he waved his hand twice, reconstructing two more glass balls and making it float towards the women. "They don’t reach their destination."

Beth glanced into her glass ball and could see two young guys with almost similar physical qualities driving down somewhere with cars trailing after them.

These were John and Jephthah, sons of Alpha Kris of Silver Moon’s pack.

Deborah glanced into hers to see two men with completely different physical qualities, driving down somewhere, with cars trailing after them as well.

These were Alpha Cardin and Beta Royce of Blood Moon’s pack.

They held the glass ball underneath their arms before bowing.

"Yes- your majesty."

With that, they bowed and flew out of the room.

As they did, the king reconstructed a bigger glass ball,

Just like the last time, his daughter was standing side by side with someone who was evidently the half-son he had been searching for all these years. They were standing side by side while Kitsunes, hundreds of them were bowing before the two.

Funny enough, Naomi’s features were clearly seen, but his half-son’s wasn’t. Why was fate this cruel? He ganshed his teeth in anger, however his lips fell apart as the features began clearing up, slowly, slowly

It was quite slow, so he assumed he might be able to see the features clearly before tomorrow or next tomorrow.

Missing seeing his daughter, his hardened expression softened as he reconstructed another glass ball along side the other one he just created earlier.

The small smile threatening to crawl up on his lips slowly died down on seeing what transpired in the glass ball.

His daughter was thrashing and struggling as Alpha Daniel dragged her to a particular place.

There was a car packed in the distance, two people were in the car and were unaware of what was happening, but Daniel was dragging her off to somewhere, and his daughter....

Eyes brimming in anger, he held the ball and it cracked and broke under his tight grip.

"Sakuarr!!!" He yelled In such a thunderous voice that the witches below trembled in fear, their hands shivering as they turned the potion in the cauldron, also aware of the dark haze the Kitsune shot at them.

There was silence for a while, but the King seemed to be smiling cruelly at something in the distance.

Silence

Silence

And boom!!!

A loud crack was made, and a huge smothering hole was created in the throne room as a speed of fire suddenly appeared in the throne room, before the king.

Her smile was scary, and there a glint of madness in her eyes. Her skin was the color of caramel and her hair, brows, and eye lashes were a firy red color to match her skin.

She was clad in the same warriors clothes, and her tails were swishing enthusiastically behind her. There was so many of them, it was uncountable.

She was Incredulously beautiful and had a hot firy aura surrounding her such that if any thing or anybody get even close to her, they could get burnt up badly.

"You called your graciousness." She did a slight bow In the throne room, her gaze not leaving the king’s.

This woman was Queen Moana’s sister. After her sister had died by his hand, Sakuarr turned crazy and tried to kill her brother in-law, king Jacob, but he had fed her the same potion as Nancy, infact he had fed her plenty of it, so much that she turned more crazy than any person.

Thus, he was forced to keep her locked up. She could escape from the prison cell, but due to the potion, under his voice, she was ordered not to leave.

And yet, he couldn’t but admit that if this woman wanted to kill him right now, she could, with a her hand tied behind her back. That was how powerful she was.

However, she won’t. Because she was under his control. Her eyes shone with enthusiasm and excitement as she waited for his next orders. Her once bright yellow eyes was a blue-crimson color, glowing so ever brightly.

He reconstructed a big ball and caused it to float before her which she caught, almost trembling In excitement.

However, her expression broadened scarily on seeing Naomi, but just like the king, it fell and darkened on seeing Daniel dragging her away.

Simple Explanation, she thought Naomi was Queen Moana, her sister, due to the similarity between them.

She did not like this Daniel one bit.

"I will kill him." She growled In anger.

"Better yet," the king sneered, ’I want you to rain fire on the pack. Kill everyone! But do not touch her."

The woman giggled excitedly at the thought of ending so many lives before she managed to bow.

"Your wish is my command, your graciousness." With that, she flew upwards in a speed of fire, leaving another smouldering black hole on the ceiling this time.
