Ch. 1301..1310: Chapter 1301-1310
Chapter 1301
Falcon looked regretful. He sighed and said, "Maybe it was both. I also might've been too greedy and wanted my old boss's approval. Whatever it is, I've turned my back on the Nidhoggs. H-Hey, I don't want to talk about it anymore."
Bonnie noticed his sincerity, but it made no difference. After all, he had betrayed her and caused tremendous losses for her organization. Still, she refused to show him mercy, knowing he should have expected her to retaliate when he stole her chip.
Meanwhile, Falcon handed Bonnie the crushed herbs, saying, "Here, cover your wound with this. It'll stop the bleeding."
She quickly took the herbs and thanked him, “I appreciate it."
Falcon was worried she would think he was unwilling to help, so he explained, "I wanted to put it on for you, but I know you're a clean freak and don't like people touching you. Go ahead and tend to your wound. I'll help you if you need it."Chapter
Bonnie had made up an excuse to stop Falcon from tending to her wound earlier. After all, she was only disguised as a man. Falcon would have found something out if she let him help her.
She applied the herbs to her wound, saying, "Your injury is pretty bad, too. You should put some of this on to prevent it from getting infected."
"You're right. I'll go and get myself more herbs.” Falcon quickly left.
Meanwhile, Bonnie massaged the crushed herbs into her wound to stop the bleeding. Although her arm was severely injured, the bullet was not in there. Instead, it merely grazed her.
'Collin's aim has improved. I must admit I have some talented people in my organization.'
Yasmine recalled how Bonnie took the bullet for Falcon and even pulled him with her when they fell off the hill. Yasmine was so shocked that she began to sweat profusely.
She paled, stammering, "Y-You shot Mr. Boyd! Are you sure he'll survive such a fall, especially with a bullet wound?"
Collin also did not expect Bonnie to drag Falcon with her. Even so, Collin knew she would only do something like that if she were confident in succeeding.
'Bonnie must've considered every
།
possibility before doing that. Still, her arm is bleeding, and I can't help but worry. Whatever, I can't do anything about it now.'
Collin looked at Yasmine comfortingly, saying, “Mr. Boyd knows what he's doing. You don't have to worry."
Even so, he felt awful. He did not
want to say anything, but Yasmine looked genuinely concerned for Bonnie. Ultimately, Collin thought he did the right thing by comforting Yasmine.
Chapter 1302
Yasmine was so angry that she was at a loss for words. After some thought, she finally said, "Mr. Boyd is amazing, but accidents can happen. We're in the middle of nowhere, and he has a bullet wound. What if Billy ran to save himself and doesn't return with reinforcements?"Chapter
"Then why don't you tell me what I should do?!" Collin said grimly, "Do you think I'm not worried about my boss? Of course, I am! If we bring him back to treat him, we'll undo everything he's done. All we can do is wait."
Yasmine was surprised that he yelled at her. After some time, she realized Collin was right. She held her head and said anxiously, "Is there nothing we can do to help?"
'I only came to ensure Mr. Boyd's safety.'
Collin noticed how anxious Yasmine looked and knew he had been too harsh. He calmed himself and said, "Just wait, okay? Boyd will text me when he's safe."
Yasmine sighed. "I guess that's all we can do."
Collin patted her shoulder and comforted her, "Don't worry. My boss will be okay."
Then, he ordered his men, "Keep searching the area for ten more minutes. After that, you can pack up and leave."
"Understood," the others responded in unison before resuming the search. However, that did nothing to diminish Yasmine's worries. She occasionally glanced at Collin, intending to say something.
Even so, nothing she could say would make things better.
'Collin's right. I can't undo all of Mr. Boyd's work.'
Collin sensed Yasmine's gaze and felt a headache coming on. He massaged his temples and said, "What is it?"
Yasmine shook her head. "It's nothing."
Collin did not pry. Instead, he comforted her again, "Stop worrying, okay? Mr. Boyd will be fine."
"Okay," Yasmine responded, adding inwardly, 'I hope you're right.'
Falcon and Bonnie had just finished tending to their wounds and stopped the bleeding. The latter looked at the tree at the cave entrance and
el.ne
gauged its height. She sighed gloomily and said, "We're hiding somewhere so secluded. I wonder if MD. Billy can find us. Will we die if he can't?"
"We'll be fine." Falcon looked at her comfortingly. "Billy gave me a flare any other. It'll make a
gun. It?
big ruckus once I shoot it, so we can only use it once the Nidhoggs leave."
"All right. I feel better now that you said that Bonnie took her phone and added, "I was trying to call Mr. Billy just now, but I had no signal. My phone's only as good as a flashlight now."
That reminded Falcon of how he snatched Bonnie's phone earlier. He realized he should not have done that, but he could not stop himself then. 'I think I owe Barrett an apology.'
Chapter 1303
Falcon put his thoughts into action, saying, "I'm sorry for snatching away your phone earlier, Barrett. I shouldn't have done that."
Bonnie waved and said forgivingly, "It's nothing. Also, do I look petty to you? I wouldn't have saved you if I got mad over something so trivial." "I guess you're right." Falcon gave her a thumbs up. "That's what I think of you, Barrett."
Bonnie giggled and was about to say something. Suddenly, she heard voices from above, "Did you search here yet? Did you see them?" "I searched this area, but there was no sign of them. They must've died from the fall. I think we should stop searching."
"I hope Falcon's dead! It's a shame the unlucky son of a bitch took a bullet for him, though. Still, I think they both fell off the hill and died." "Let's report back. We'll ask if we can search elsewhere. If we still can't find them, we'll leave. We don't need to waste any more time here." Bonnie waited for the voices to fade before looking at Falcon and saying helplessly, "I told you I wasn't one of them, but you didn't trust me. You have to believe me now, right? If not, why would they leave me here? They even called me an unlucky son of a bitch."
Falcon could not help but apologize, "I take the blame. I was too wary, and that made me misunderstand you."
"It's okay. What matters is that I've proven myself to you." Although Bonnie said that, those words could not be further from the truth. After all, she planned to fall off the hill with Falcon. She needed to raise the stakes to gain his absolute trust.
However, she did not tell Collin about it, and Yasmine was there, too.
'Those two must be worried after watching me fall off the hill. I'll have to find a way to contact Collin soon and tell him I'm okay.'
Falcon did not want to stay there any longer. He said, "Considering what the Nidhoggs said, they'll leave this place soon. I'll fire the flare to signal Billy so he can come and rescue us." Chapter
Bonnie nodded. "Okay, I'll leave that to you."
About ten minutes later, Collin left with his men while Yasmine looked back worriedly. Collin noticed it and said, "You shouldn't have come with us. Then, you wouldn't be so stressed."
'It seems Yasmine loves my boss. I
wonder how she'll react if she discovers her savior is a woman disguised as a man. I already hinted at Yasmine countless times, but she couldn't see it.'
"I didn't expect you guys to do something so reckless!" Yasmine said aggrievedly, “On the contrary, I would've been more anxious if didn't tag along. I'd still find out what happened to Mr. Boyd."
Collin interjected, “We still have to wait for him. There's nothing else we can do besides trust that he's okay."
Although he was concerned about Bonnie, he was responsible for the Nidhoggs during her absence. Hence, he could not afford to wear his heart on his sleeve.
'My men would panic, too, if they see me running around like a headless chicken.'
Chapter 1304
Yasmine could not stop worrying about "Bonnie" as she left the area. The former did not want to go. Instead, she wanted to stay and ensure Bonnie's safety.
If possible, Yasmine even wanted to take her away to get her wound treated. Even so, that was a luxury Yasmine could not afford.
Collin wanted to comfort her again but knew it would not work. Ultimately, he decided against it and continued to walk away. He knew he would only worsen things if he continued to comfort her.
Suddenly, Yasmine thought of something and looked at Collin, saying, "Something's strange about the whole thing."
"What is it?" Collin stopped and turned to look at her.
"Mr. Boyd alienated Billy and Falcon from everyone else, right? Why didn't you just catch them and bring them to your base? Then, you could torture them into revealing the chip's location.
"You had such a perfect opportunity but had to let them go and put my savior at risk instead. Don't you think you'll lose more that way?" Yasmine had thought about that earlier but could not put it into words. Finally, she asked Collin about it.
He replied, "My boss and I thought about that long ago."
At that moment, Collin did not know how Yasmine would react. He continued, "Falcon was one of us for over a decade, so we know him better than anyone. Since he stole the chip, he would've hidden it well. We could beat and torture him to death, but he'd never tell us where the chip is."
"Oh, I get it." Yasmine nodded in understanding. "That explains why Boyd had to do so much just to gain Falcon's trust."
"Mhm," Collin responded dryly, "My boss is wise and can see things no one else can. That's why you should trust him."Chapter
Yasmine blinked, saying, "I never
doubted Mr. Boyd's tactics. I'm just
noveret
worried you didn't think of everything, putting him in a dangerous situation."
Collin's lips twitched when he heard that. He realized Yasmine was only worried he would fail to carry out "Bonnie's tactics to a tee and put
the latter in danger.
'Yeah, Bonnie was in danger briefly, but doesn't Yasmine realize I thought it through, too? Why does Yasmine have so little confidence in me?'
Collin did not voice his thoughts.
'Forget it. Yasmine always throws logic out the window concerning Bonnie. I don't have time to argue. know the truth about Bonnie, and that's good enough for me. I don't have to tell Yasmine anything. It's not like she'll understand me.'
Yasmine sighed again and asked, "When do you think Mr. Boyd will get out of this pinch?"
After some thought, Collin replied, "He'll be safe once we're gone, and Billy takes his men to rescue my boss and Falcon."
Chapter 1305
Yasmine felt helpless, saying, "The most dangerous place is the safest place for Mr. Boyd, huh?"
Collin responded, "Given his current circumstances, yes."
Then, he picked up his pace and added, "That's why we need to leave now. If we stay longer, it'll only delay my boss's rescue."
Yasmine caught up to him. "Yeah, let's go."
Suddenly, she recalled something and said, "If your boss contacts you when we're back, please tell me how he's doing. Otherwise, I won't be able to sleep."
"You got it," Collin responded, thinking, 'She's so demanding. If I didn't know better, I would've thought she was Bonnie's wife.'
"Perfect." Yasmine looked at him approvingly, causing his lips to twitch again.
'Yasmine keeps talking about Bonnie. I should stop responding to her, or she'll never stop.'
...
Falcon propped himself up and limped toward the cave's entrance. He stood there and listened briefly before returning to "Bonnie's" side. He said excitedly, "I think the
е
Nidhoggs are gone. I'll use the flare
gun to signal Billy now." Chapter
Bonnie looked at him and calmly said, "We should wait a little longer. The Nidhoggs might still be around waiting for us to fire that thing. That'll make it easier for them to catch us."
She was not worried about that. After all, Coll had completed the task she had given him. It did not
matter if the Nidhoggs heard the et
flare gun because Collin would not return for her anyway. Moreover, he might just be excited to see the ffare.
That would be proof that Bonnie was safe. That said, Falcon would think she had his best interests and trust her more. As expected, he looked at her gratefully. "You think of everything, Barrett. I almost made a huge mistake!"
Bonnie chuckled. "You don't have to say that. We're on the same boat."
Falcon scratched his head, saying, "No wonder Billy always speaks highly of you. You see things others don't. Although I might be older than you, I must rely on your intelligence. Otherwise, I would've made a mistake."
Chapter 1306
Bonnie waved. "You're pretty smart yourself."
Falcon grinned and chuckled, saying, "I wouldn't have gotten us into this miserable situation if I were."
Bonnie was about to say something when Billy's voice echoed from above, "Did you guys search this area yet? Did you see anyone?"
"There's no one here, Mr. Billy."
"What about over there? Search every inch of this place! We're only looking for two guys. How hard can it be?!"
Bonnie and Falcon swapped glances. Then, the latter smiled for the first time since they started running for their lives. He said, "Billy brought backup to save us! I don't even have to shoot the flare!"
Bonnie acted moved, saying, "Yeah, he must've come to rescue us immediately after gathering more men. It looks like he's pretty loyal, too. I thought he'd leave us here to die."
Falcon spoke bluntly and honestly, "That's one thing you won't have to worry about. I have something Billy wants, so he won't abandon us."
Since Billy was the leader of his organization, he was naturally selfish. If Falcon had not had something beneficial to Billy, the latter would not have risked returning to save Falcon and Bonnie.
'Barrett keeps mentioning how loyal Billy is, but that's because Barrett's too inexperienced and naive."
"What do you have that's important to Mr. Billy?" Bonnie feigned curiosity. "Is it the chip you guys talked about?"
If she had asked this question too soon, Falcon would have avoided answering it. However, he began to think of Bonnie" as a friend after what they had gone through
е
together. That was why he no longer
cared about keeping secrets.
Instead, he answered honestly, "Yeah, that's it. I bet Billy will let you work on the chip soon enough. I'll tell you the details then."
Bonnie squinted with a hint of
playfulness. She knew Billy had to ask for Falcon's opinion regarding the chip. Now that the latter had said she could work on the chip soon, it would surely happen.
"All right, I look forward to it," Bonnie said as she propped herself up on the wall of the cave, "Quick, callout to MD. Billy to get us. Otherwise, our injuries will only worsen over time."
Then, she had an idea and deliberately made fun of the situation, saying, “If that happens, you'll lose a leg, and I'll lose a hand. Then, we'll be buddies for life."
Falcon was stunned. He chuckled and said, "How can you joke at a time like this?"
"It's good to lighten the mood." Bonnie smiled. “You're smiling, aren't you? That means my joke was pretty entertaining."Chapter
"I guess you're right," Falcon said as he felt his cheek.
'Barrett's right. I feel more relaxed after hearing that joke. I'm not as stiff and grim as I was a minute ago.'
With that in mind, Falcon faced the entrance and took a deep breath before shouting, "Billy! We're in the cave below you!"
Billy was about to leave the area when he heard Falcon's voice.
Chapter 1307
Billy glanced at Francesco and asked, "Did you hear that?"
Francesco responded confidently, "I did, sir! Falcon said he's at the cave below us!"
Billy ran over to the hill and looked but could not see the cave. "Guys, lower your ropes!"
Francesco panicked and quickly pulled him back, saying, "Don't stand there, sir! It's dangerous. What if you fall? Here, I'll take two men with me, and we'll climb down to check the area."
"Okay, go." Billy stepped back and kept a safe distance from the hill.
Meanwhile, Francesco lowered a rope and climbed down. He had only reached halfway down when he saw Falcon and Bonnie. Francesco was startled, shouting, "Jeez!"
Billy heard his voice and leaned over. "What's wrong?! Did something happen? Do you see them?"
Francesco gathered himself before responding, "Y-Yeah, I see them. Nothing happened. I just got scared, that's all.”
He jumped off the rope and stood at the cave's entrance. Then, he saw the severe injuries Falcon and Bonnie had sustained. Francesco quickly gave the rope to Falcon, saying, "You're hurt. Can you tie the rope to yourself for them to pull you up?"
However, Falcon tied the rope around "Bonnie" and said, "Here, you go first. I'll be right behind you."
She thought he would have been
eager to leave first and did not ĕ expect him to prioritize her instead. Although surprised, she hid her feelings and said, "I appreciate it. I'll see you up there."
Billy felt better after seeing Bonnie. Then, he looked down again and asked, "Where's Falcon? Is he okay?"
"We're both hurt," Bonnie said as she showed Billy her arm. "My arm's injured, and Falcon has an injury on his leg."
Billy frowned as he looked at Bonnie's blood-stained shirt. "How'd you get hurt so badly?"Chapter
He was grateful that Bonnie and Floyd had escaped from the Nidhoggs, even though they had sustained severe injuries.
'At least they're competent,' Billy thought.
Bonnie was about to say something when the others pulled Falcon up. The latter heard Billy's question and replied, "Barrett got hurt protecting me." "He protected you?" Billy looked at Bonnie in surprise.
The latter then briefly explained everything to Billy. The more he listened, the more surprised he felt He admired Bonnie even more after hearing about what had happened. He said, "I can't believe you're so courageous despite your age."
Then, he turned to Falcon and said. crudely, "Barrett put his life on line for you. I don't know

if you're still suspicious of the et
Chapter 1308
"You don't need to tell me that, Billy." Considering how Falcon looked at "Bonnie," he no longer kept up his guard around her. "Barrett and I just survived a life-threatening situation. I'll never be suspicious of him again.”
"I'm glad you finally see it that way." Billy realized things were going well between Bonnie and Falcon, so he planned his next step.
'They're much closer now, meaning they can work better together. Falcon and Barrett are computer geniuses, so I believe we'll hack the chip in no time, especially with their combined strength. It won't be long before I can rule over all international organizations.'
Billy was excited and could not stop smiling. Falcon noticed it and asked curiously, "Why do you look so happy?"
The former stopped smiling and said, "I'm pleased to see you and Barrett safe. Why else would I be smiling?"
Then, he waved and ordered his men, "Let's return to our base. Remember to stay quiet. We don't want those Nidhoggs coming back."
Bonnie's eyes sparkled subtly when she heard that. She feigned concern and asked, "The Nidhoggs have already found our base's perimeters, right? I don't think it's safe for us to go back now."
Billy raised his chin and said triumphantly, "It's only the perimeters. I built some secret areas at the heart of my base. Otherwise, they would've invaded the place entirely. How else could I have gathered my men to come and rescue you two?"
The secret areas were his trump card. Initially, he did not want Falcon and Bonnie to know about them, but Falcon made a fine point. Billy and his organization had survived a dangerous situation.Chapter
'We've become closer and know each other more deeply now. I guess I can tell them such secrets.'
"You mean you have secret tunnels and stuff?" Bonnie was surprised. She thought Billy had revealed everything he had in his base and did not expect him to have such a trump card. Bonnie realized how cautious he was.
That said, she thought there was nothing spectacular about Billy. After all, he was about to show her the deepest secret about his base.
'I only needed to let a bullet graze my skin to get such valuable information. That was worth it, all right.'
"Yeah," Billy was about to say something but realized he could not explain everything to the duo yet. So, he waved and said, "You'll see when we get there. I don't know how to explain it properly."
"You got it, Mr. Billy." Bonnie gestured. "Please lead the way."
Billy nodded and took his men to the secret tunnels. While Bonnie and Falcon followed leisurely, the latter grumbled, "I've been in this organization for a while now and didn't even know about these secret areas. Billy's such a secretive guy."
Bonnie wanted to show her understanding because she did not want to offend either of them. She said, "Mr Billy's running a massive organization. It's only natural for him to be cautious. He also didn't abandon us. All we have to do now is follow his lead and forget about the rest."
Falcon was surprised she could see things so clearly despite her young age.
Chapter 1309
Falcon gave "Bonnie" a thumbs-up and said, "You have a sharp mind, Barrett. I have much to learn from you."
"What's there to learn? You'll know more once you've gathered enough life experiences, right?" Bonnie said in surprise. She did not think Falcon would praise her over something so trivial. That proved he genuinely considered her a close friend.
Falcon was curious, saying genuinely, "You look so much younger than me, so why do you like you have more life experience? Is it because of your upbringing?"Chapter
He thought "Bonnie" had two contradicting sides to her character. Sometimes, she would seem naive and inexperienced, and other times, he could see things most could not. Falcon did not know how to put his thoughts into words at that moment.
Nheless, he was not suspicious of Bonnie but was only curious.
"Maybe it was my upbringing. My mom has a severe condition, so I have to keep my family together. That must be why I seem more mature than everyone else," Bonnie shamelessly and calmly lied. After all, she knew Falcon would not try to verify what she said.
Falcon chuckled and asked, "Is that so? We both had the short end of life's stick, I guess. We share the same background. No wonder we're so close now."
Bonnie laughed along. “Yeah, it must be fate.”
The duo chatted as Billy led them through a complex tunnel. They had to make many twists and turns before reaching their destination. Meanwhile, Bonnie paid close attention to the paths they took.
Once they reached the secret area, she noticed it had far fewer buildings compared to the old base. Also, there were only about a dozen organization members there.
'These must be the people Billy trusts most. Otherwise, he wouldn't allow them to be here,' Bonnie thought as she looked around, 'This must be his actual base of operations.'
Although the previous base was secluded, it was nothing compared to this place. Bonnie had risked her life to save Billy and had even drawn his enemies away from him. If she had not done that, he would not have brought her here.
Falcon said, "This place is so hidden, Billy. No one could've ever found it."
"Of course it is. Do you know who you're talking to? I designed this place. No one will find this place. unless I want them to," Billy said triumphantly. It was apparent how prouid he was of this area.
Then, he thought of something and said solemnly, "Since it's a secret area, it means not many people know about it. I'll know if anyone leaks its location."
Billy glared at Falcon and Bonnie, adding, "Do you know what I'm getting at?"
Falcon immediately responded,
"Loud and clear. Barrett and I have to thank the Nidhoggs for our injuries. There's no way we'll leak this location. Don't worry abouta thing Barrett and I won't betray you. You trust us, right?"
Chapter 1310
Billy gazed sharply at Falcon and "Bonnie," but they looked calm. Billy could sense nothing suspicious about them and became more relaxed. Then, he smiled and said, "You two have been with me for quite some time. Of course, I trust you."Chapter
He turned and looked at a nearby shipping container. Then, he pointed at it and said, "There's a doctor in there. Go and get your wounds treated. We don't want any long-term damage, do we?"
"Thanks, boss," Falcon thanked him and then looked at Bonnie with concern. "Your hand injury matters more than my leg injury, Barrett. You go ahead. I'll wait until you're done before I tend to my wound."
"Don't mind if I do." Bonnie approached the shipping container.
Billy and Falcon watched as she visited the doctor. Then, the former looked at Falcon and asked, "Did you notice anything unusual when you were with Barrett? Did he mention the Nidhoggs or anything?"
Falcon responded solemnly, "You said it yourself, Billy. He put his life on the line to save us. That means he checks out. You even told me to stop probing him, or I might worsen things between us. Don't you trust Barrett?"
"That's not it." Billy waved. "It was just a casual question. I want to be as safe as possible."
"If that's the case, you have nothing to worry about. Barrett is trustworthy. You can doubt anyone else, but not him." Falcon genuinely trusted "Bonnie" now. Otherwise, he would not have said that.
"Mhm," Billy responded dryly, "I trust you know what you're doing.”
About ten minutes later, Billy saw
Bonnie exiting the shipping containment and ordered
Francesco, "Show Barrett to his
room so he can rest."
"Right away, sir." Francesco nodded and led Bonnie away. "This way please, Mr. Barrett."
"Okay." She nodded before turning to look at Falcon. "Get treated, Falcon."
Then, she told Billy, "I'll go and rest now. It's been a long day, and I can barely keep my eyes open.”
“Go ahead. You did well today." Billy waved.
As Bonnie turned to leave, she heard Falcon saying, "Billy, get me a room beside Barrett's. It'll make it easier for me to chat with him when I'm bored."
Billy had a slightly strange feeling in his gut when he heard that. After some thought, he said, "Okay, I'll see to it. Stop wasting time and get your leg checked, or the doctor might have to amputate it."
"You got it." Falcon smiled and then glanced at Bonnie, saying, "I'll be out soon.”
She did not respond, but her lips twitched.
