Chapter 1291

"That's enough!"

That startled Falcon. He turned around and glanced at Billy, feeling puzzled. "What's the matter, Billy?"

Billy looked grim when he nodded gently. He gestured at Falcon and said, "Give Barrett his phone back!" "But..."

Falcon still sensed something off about it. He was about to say something when Billy cut him off.

"What more do you have to say? The three of us are in the same boat now. So, quit doing something that'll tear us apart! Moreover, didn't you turn up empty-handed after looking over Barrett's phone several times?

"Stop questioning Barrett's loyalty. I don't want you making him feel uncomfortable for nothing!"

Bonnie noticed Billy speaking for her and went on to adopt a grateful expression.

"I-I really did pull out my phone because I saw a tunnel ahead. I just wanted to light the way for you... If I've known you distrust me this much, then I would've opted to stay behind and let myself get caught by the Nidhoggs..."

Bonnie emanated helplessness and dissatisfaction when she spoke.

Billy glared at Falcon. Then, he snatched the phone from him and gave it back to her.

"Falcon didn't want to face the Nidhoggs. He got himself worked up so much and did what he did. That's all. He didn't mean anything by it. Don't take it to heart, Barrett."

Bonnie took her phone from Billy and raised her hand to wipe tears from her eyes.

"I'm aware that Falcon turned his back on the Nidhoggs and joined your faction instead. I guess I can understand that he didn't want to face his former allies.

"However, I can not stand it when he continues to suspect me. If you really distrust me, then I'll leave. The last thing I want is to overstay my welcome and make you guys feel uncomfortable."

Billy rubbed his eyebrows fiercely. For a moment there, he didn't know how he was supposed to respond to Bonnie.Chapter

So, he turned his head sideways and said to Falcon coldly, "I want you to explain yourself to Barrett, Falcon! I don't want you and him to have a wedge between you guys before you start working together!" Falcon knew Billy was warning him not to do something like this to Bonnie again.

He took a deep breath and shoved his feelings down deep before he said,

"I'm sorry, Barrett. As Billy said, I'm pretty worked up today. That's why I thought you were alerting our enemies to our location when I saw you pulling out your phone.

"Please forgive me for misunderstanding you. I hope you can look past my behaviors."

'The truth is that I still harbor some suspicion for Barrett's actions, but Billy is throwing his weight now. I have to apologize to Barrett.'

Meanwhile, Bonnie thought to herself. 'I did share with Collin our current location and the route we're taking next. It's just that I got a hunch after I sent the text and hid my texting app with special technology. No one can find it.

'I didn't know Falcon would be this worked up that he'd snatch my phone without any warning. It's a good thing I listened to my hunch. Otherwise, I would've been in big trouble.'

Billy realized Bonnie wasn't saying anything. He thought she was still bugged by Falcon's actions. So, he spoke in a deep voice and warned Falcon solemnly.

"From this point on, I don't want you to suspect Barrett if you don't have any evidence. You've been warned, Falcon. You got that?"

Falcon knew Bonnie was Billy's favorite. So, he wasn't exactly surprised to hear what Billy said.

He lowered his head and responded weakly. "Understood, Billy."

Once Billy was done lecturing Falcon, he turned to look at Bonnie.

"There, Barrett. I let him have it. So, don't overthink it. We have to keep going. Otherwise, we'll all suffer a horrible fate if the Nidhoggs actually catch up to us."

Chapter 1292

"I appreciate you speaking up for me, Billy."

Bonnie tucked her phone away. She pretended to take the higher road and said to Falcon, "I won't take your actions or words to heart, Falcon. After all, we're in the same boat. There's no need to hold you accountable for something so trivial."

A hint of admiration flashed in Billy's eyes.

"Take a look at Barrett. He might be young, but he's way better at dealing with people than you are."

Billy gave Falcon a look. "You have much to learn from Barrett!"

All Falcon could do was gnash his teeth and swallow his anger. "Understood, Billy! I'll learn from him." "Okay," Billy responded dryly.

"Alright. Now that we've resolved this misunderstanding, we shouldn't dwell on this anymore. Let's keep going."

"Roger, Billy."

"You got it, Billy."

Bonnie and Falcon responded simultaneously before walking behind Billy.

Collin read the location Bonnie shared with him, and a mysterious smile appeared on his face.

Then, he raised his head and ordered a few of his men standing in front of him, "You guys are coming with me. We'll take the opposite direction."

"Roger." They nodded respectfully and followed Collin.

Yasmine had been walking next to him all the time. She looked at him and couldn't help but ask curiously, "Why are you taking the opposite direction all of a sudden? Did Mr. Boyd send you a text?"

"Exactly." Collin didn't deny it. "Billy and Falcon are with him, too. All we have to do now is wait for them at the end of their escape route."

Yasmine asked again, "Do you know where that is?"

"According to the location he sent me, the path they're on will lead to another path. We should be able to catch them in time if we box them in from the other path now." Collin spoke. He lowered his head and looked at the red blip on his phone. Then, he picked up the pace.Chapter

Yasmine heard what he said and gave him a thumbs up.

"You're truly Mr. Boyd's protege. I think you're almost as one-tenth awesome as he is."

"One-tenth?" Collin couldn't decide if he should laugh or cry. "Are you complimenting me or taking a dig at me, I wonder?"

"I'm complimenting you, of course!" Yasmine responded without a second thought. "Mr. Boyd is a perfect man who can do everything. Don't you realize you would've been incredible if you could do half the things he does? I don't think I'm even two-tenths as awesome as he is."

"I guess you're right." Collin nodded. "Boyd is straight-up awesome. If we're being serious about it, I'm not even one-tenth as awesome as he is."

Yasmine heard what he said and sighed helplessly.

"Sigh... It's a shame that he's married. It isn't my fate to be with him."

Collin's lips twitched in response.

'She has been saying the same thing over and over again the entire journey. I'm going out of my mind.

'I'm all the smarter for it now. So, I'm not going to respond to her about it. Otherwise, she'd continue to grumble about it until the end of time.'

Yasmine realized that Collin didn't say anything. She couldn't help but purse her lips.

'Forget it, I'm not going to talk about it anymore. Obviously, he doesn't want to listen to it anymore. If I keep going on, then I'll only embarrass myself!'

Chapter 1293

Collin and his gang continued to make their way to the destination.

Several minutes later, they arrived at the end of the path that Collin talked about.

He pulled out his phone again and double-checked. The red blip on his phone was still moving, inching closer to them by the second.

Collin saw it and his eyes were sparkling with excitement.

"They're almost here! I'll be able to personally teach Falcon a lesson very soon!"

"Teach him a lesson?" Yasmine asked, feeling confused, "But that's not the task assigned to you."

"That might be true, but all I have to do is keep Falcon alive," Collin said as a thick sense of coldness flashed in his eyes. "It's not every day that I get the chance to teach him a lesson. I'm not going to let the opportunity pass me by!"

"You say that, but that will mean you're going against Mr. Boyd's orders. Take my advice and forget about it." Yasmine frowned.

Collin reached out and stopped her.

"That's enough. There's no need for you to say anything further. I know where the line is. I won't put him in a difficult position."

"Fine, then... That's what matters, after all."

Both of them were still talking to each other when Yasmine spotted Billy, who walked in front of the group. Then, she looked more carefully and saw Falcon as well as Boyd.

Boyd might've camouflaged himself and taken on another appearance, but it did nothing to diminish his good looks. Her heart skipped a beat!Chapter

Yasmine was still watching him when a hint of daze flashed in her eyes. "How could Boyd be that

stunning? Everything pales in comparison to him."

Collin frowned. "Did you see Boyd?"

"He's there."

Yasmine pointed at the figure not far from them.

Bonnie might've disguised herself, but Collin had just said that she sent him her location. There was just a stranger with Billy and Falcon. So, it was easy for her to spot Bonnie out of the group.

"He's right there. How could you not see him?"

Collin followed her gaze and looked over. As expected, he saw the trio with Billy in the lead.

At that very moment, the only person he could see was the traitor, Falcon!

Collin's eyes were brimming with fury. He didn't even think about it when he started walking toward Falcon's location.

Yasmine saw it and yanked him back swiftly.

"Hey. What are you doing? Will you keep a cool head?"

"Huh? Needless to say, I'm going to carry out the plan and teach the traitor a lesson!"

He didn't get why Yasmine was holding him back and getting in his way.

"You're such a moron! Don't you think they're going to suspect that something's off if you just march over to them? What if they suspect Boyd has something to do with this? You have to surprise them when you make an entrance!"

Collin listened to what she said and thought that she made a fine point.

He stopped himself. Then, he took a deep breath, trying to suppress his burning hatred for Falcon.

He looked at Yasmine and asked, "What do you think we should do?"

"Here's an idea." She leaned over and whispered in his ear.

Collin's eyes sparkled. "What a splendid idea."

Yasmine lifted her chin proudly. "Why, of course. You're talking to me, after all!"

Collin chuckled lightly before growing solemn and putting the idea into motion. He brought several of his men and pretended to be searching for someone in the vicinity.

"Some of Billy's men ran this way. Search the area carefully. We have to capture them and interrogate them at our base. We have to find out where's the chip!"

Chapter 1294

Falcon heard Collin's voice. It was as familiar as it was blood-chilling.

He was shocked. Gulping, he said, "H-Hold on. That's Collin. He's Boyd's most trusted henchman. We can't keep going down this path!"

"How did they find their way here?" Billy's face was dark.

'I intentionally chose the least known escape route to avoid being captured by the Nidhoggs. Aside from myself and some of the men I trusted the most, no one in my organization knows about it.

'That's why I didn't bring anyone else with me to this escape route, except Barrett and Falcon. Just as I thought we were out of danger, we bumped into the Nidhoggs the moment we came out of the tunnel.

'What are the odds?!'

Bonnie interrupted his thoughts and said, "This is not the time to think about this, Billy. We have to focus on getting out of here safely."

Falcon went along with her. "Barrett's right, Billy. What matters most now is to get out of here. We can think about everything else once we're safe and out of the Nidhoggs' reach."

"The thing is, this escape route only leads back to my base! So, where are we supposed to go now? We'll just get captured if we turn back!" The veins on the side of Billy's head twitched.

A strong sense of powerlessness rose within his chest. He had no idea what he could do to get out of this pickle.

Bonnie saw it and pretended to be in deep contemplation. Then, she made it look like she had made a decision and said to Billy,

"Hide, Billy. Falcon and I will draw their attention and make sure you're safe. We'll think about the rest later."

This was the last thing Billy and Falcon expected her to say. So, they were both stunned.

Falcon was the first one to come to his senses. He rejected her suggestion without a second thought.

"The Nidhoggs are after me. I'm all but guaranteed to put myself in danger if I draw their attention. No way. I can't do it! I won't!"

Bonnie frowned. "It'll be worse if Billy is caught instead. The only way to let him escape is if both of them divert their attention! Furthermore, it's not like they're going to catch us. What are you getting your panties in a bunch for?"

"Well-" Falcon was about to say something, but Bonnie cut him off.

"Didn't you say that both of us need to work for Billy, even if it means putting our lives on the line? So, what's the meaning of this?

"Are you seriously not willing to draw the enemy's attention away from Billy now? This is such a small matter, too. If that's the case, then, pray tell, what kind of future do we have?"

Bonnie looked so determined, as if she'd go to the bowels of hell for Billy's sake.

Meanwhile, Billy couldn't remember the last time someone made him feel this moved. Bonnie was the only person who touched his heart deeply for the first time in a long time.Chapter

"Y-You're risking a lot to protect me, Barrett... Aren't you worried that things might end terribly for you?"

"Not at all!" Bonnie lifted her chin and said confidently, "You saved my mom, Billy. That means I'm indebted to you greatly. You need me now, so I'm not going to shy away from the danger!"

"Wonderful!" Billy's voice was brimming with admiration.

"I knew I was right about you! It turns out you don't disappoint me at all!"

With that, he looked at Falcon. He couldn't help but grow solemn. "What about you, Falcon? Are you willing to do it?"

"Um..." Falcon looked vexed, and his eyes were filled with reluctance.

Chapter 1295

"You know better than anyone else that I turned my back on the Nidhoggs and threw in my lot with you, Billy. You also knew how hard it was for me to pull it off!

"On top of that, you're aware just how much they hate me! As luck would have it, the man outside is none other than Collin. He's fiercely loyal to Boyd.

"Given what I've done to them, there's a good chance he might blow my head off if I draw their attention away from you..."

The more Falcon pondered it, the more he thought he couldn't do it.

He shook his head fiercely. "No way. I'm not going out there. I can't."

Bonnie deliberately paused before sighing heavily. "Billy has wasted his efforts and time on you, Falcon!"

Billy looked at Falcon with a somewhat peculiar expression.

Falcon met his gaze and knew that Billy was dissatisfied with him. He parted his lips and was about to explain himself but he heard a voice not far from him.Chapter

"Look over there, Collin! I think I see someone!"

Billy and Falcon heard it. Both their faces fell.

Bonnie went along with them and wore a troubled expression. She urged Falcon, "Hurry up and make up your mind, Falcon. Otherwise, none of us will make it out of here."

Before Falcon could say anything, he heard Collin's cold, unfeeling voice.

"Is that you, Falcon? Oh, wow. It is you! Die, traitor!"

Falcon went into full panic mode in a matter of a second. His face turned so pale that it was devoid of color.

Bonnie seized the opportunity and demonstrated her "loyalty" by shoving Billy into a mound of dirt next to them.

"The Nidhoggs have only seen Falcon, Billy. They have yet to find out about you. So, hurry up and hide yourself. Falcon and I are going to draw their attention.

"Run away if you can. You can also find an opportunity to bring reinforcement here to save us."

Billy stared at Bonnie with unblinking eyes, which were laced with inexplicable emotions.

"You're willing to put your life on the line for me, Barrett. I won't forget the loyalty you demonstrated today! I'll reward you handsomely if you make it back alive, Barrett. You have my word."

"I'll hold you to your promise, Billy." Bonnie pretended to be moved deeply and said, "I also hope that I'll survive the danger and go back to your side safely!"

A hint of subtle playfulness flashed in her eyes.

'My priority is to dispel Billy and Falcon's suspicions.

'I'm telling Billy all of this because I needed him to think of me as a henchman who has an unwavering loyalty for him. Only then will he trust me with all his heart and soul.

'Judging by his looks, I've got Billy in the palm of my hand.

'Now, it's Falcon's turn.'

Bonnie was still in the middle of her thoughts when Collin darted over with his men in tow. Before she could say anything, Falcon had already sprinted out of there the moment he saw it.

Then, she took off in another direction. That was how they "drew the enemies' attention."

Meanwhile, Collin had targeted Falcon. He watched as the latter ran like a madman. His face was as gloomy as it was frightening.

"Hold it right there, Falcon!"

The more Collin shouted at him, the faster Falcon ran.

'This isn't a joke. Collin would skin me alive if I let him capture me. That is if he didn't kill me.

"That's why I have to get away. I have to run as far as my feet can carry me. Under no circumstances am I going to let Collin capture me."

Chapter 1296

Billy hid behind the mound of dirt and watched as Bonnie and Falcon drew attention away from him.

He snuck back to the path he came from when no one was watching and retraced his steps.

'Now that Falcon and Barrett are here, the Nidhoggs won't know that I'm going back the way I came from. I have to secure some reinforcements and come back to save both of them. After all, both of them are extremely adept at computers.

'It's true. Falcon's behaviors were rather unsatisfying, but I can't afford to lose both of them. That's why I have to get reinforcements as fast as I can. After all, the sooner I come back with backup, the bigger the possibility I can save both of them.'

Bonnie noticed what Billy was doing and ignored him.

'I have to let Billy get out of here so I can move on to the next phase of my plan! Otherwise, Billy's presence would be another uncertainty. It's just going to mess things up.'

The Nidhoggs were split into two groups, giving chase to Bonnie and Falcon.

Bonnie was observing what Falcon was doing while she ran ahead of her pursuers.Chapter

'I have to make sure I'm in the right position so I can move in on Falcon at the right time.'

She was in the middle of her thoughts when she heard a soft voice that was filled with joy.

"Hi, savior! I finally get to see you. How are you doing in Billy's organization? Is everything alright?"

'Wait a minute. Is that Yasmine's voice?'

Bonnie was so shocked that she couldn't help but turn her head sideways to look at Yasmine. The person closest to her was wearing a flat cap, which obscured most of her face.

Just as she turned her gaze over, the person raised her head. That was when Bonnie saw the extremely familiar face. It was really Yasmine. Bonnie was stunned for a brief moment before she knitted her brows tightly.

"What are you doing here?"

'Isn't this supposed to be our operation? Aren't we on the same page? So, why did Collin bring Yasmine here? This is just making things worse.' Meanwhile, Yasmine saw the displeasure in Bonnie's eyes. She couldn't help but speak timidly when she spoke again.

"Are you mad? I'm sorry. I'm just too worried about you. That's why I came up with the idea to sneak into your organization and come here with Collin. "He didn't have a choice, but to bring me along. Don't blame this on him."

'Collin allowed me to tag along because he understood what I was going through. He decided to help me, and the last thing I want is for him to get punished for it.

Bonnie felt a headache coming on. She rubbed her eyebrows and said, "This is a serious operation. Why did you butt your head in? Does Vic know that you're here?"

"H-He does." A hint of guilt flashed in Yasmine's eyes.

It took Bonnie a glance to know that Yasmine wasn't being truthful.

'This is not the time for chit-chatting or questioning. My priority is to take care of Falcon.'

"You said you're here because you're worried about me. Well, as you can see, I'm swell. There's nothing for you to worry about.

"You shouldn't talk to me anymore. Just go along with my men and capture me. Don't make Falcon suspicious."

'I've run this plan for a long time just

so I could dispel Falcon's suspicion of me. Yasmine is a wild card. Although she's doing this because she's concerned about my well-being, I don't want her toruin my plan.'

"You got it, Mr. Boyd. Relax. I won't create any trouble for you." Yasmine raised her hand and made a promise.

'I got so excited earlier because I

was finally able to see my savior after such a long time. That

าวน์

why couldn't control man

and

after him while calling out to him.'

Chapter 1297

Now that Yasmine had seen that Boyd was safe, she had nothing more to worry about.

"Okay," Bonnie responded dryly. She needed to make sure Yasmine wouldn't throw a wrench in her plans. So, she reminded the latter again.

"From here on out, you can't talk to me. You also can't act as if you know me, alright?"

Yasmine made a gesture that shut her mouth before nodding aggressively.

Bonnie knew that Yasmine understood what she meant. So, she dropped the matter and started running again.

On the other hand, Yasmine "did her duty" and started chasing Bonnie without a single word.

Both Bonnie and Falcon were being pursued, but the latter was in a real deal.

Collin was wielding a gun and unleashing a barrage of bullets at Falcon. Needless to say, he intentionally missed his target. He wanted to see the latter scampering about frantically like a sewer rat.

Given his marksmanship, it was a piece of cake for him to shoot and hit Falcon. However, he was still waiting for the right time. Once the time came, he wouldn't miss the shot.

Falcon heard the relentless gunshot and covered his ears. He was falling apart, ever fearful that a bullet would bury itself into his brain at any given second.

"I'll consider sparing you if you stop running this instant, Falcon. If you don't work with me, however, I might shoot somewhere you won't like." "Heh..." Falcon couldn't help but sneer. "What makes you think I'll stop running just because you said so? Do you think I'm a fool?"

At the next moment, he heard a loud bang.

Collin shot Falcon in the calf.

"Ahh!"

The pain was so intense that Falcon couldn't resist screaming in agony. Blood streamed out of his calf, but he didn't dare to stop running Instead, he dragged his injured foot and limped deeper into the forest.

Collin saw it, his eyes laced with a grim coldness.

"Are you sure you're not going to stop, Falcon? I'm going to count to three. One... Two..."

He intentionally paused before he counted the last number.

"I just might blow your head off if you're not stopping."

Falcon heard what he said and trembled all over. Nevertheless, he didn't slow down at all.

'Collin clearly hates my guts. If I stop running, then I'll suffer a fate worse than death. Hell would look likeza freaking resort compared to what he'll do to me.

'I stand a chance to live if I keep running. If I stop now, then all hope will be lost.' Collin realized that Falcon merely kept running and the coldness in his eyes grew chillier.

Then, Collin counted the last number coldly.

"One."

A click could be heard as Collin aimed his gun at Falcon and pulled the trigger.

Falcon felt a chill at the back of his head. It meant death was coming for him.

'Everything will be over in the next second. I'm going to die soon.'

The more Falcon thought about it, the more his body trembled.Chapter

Bonnie saw

She

f ready and mot

a certain spot. Then, she gave Collin a look and gestured for him to do it.

Bu xat was happening.

Chapter 1298

Collin nodded at Bonnie subtly, letting her know that he knew what she meant. Then, he tore his gaze away from her and pulled the trigger. Falcon heard a click, which was followed by the sound of a bullet being fired from its barrel.

Bang!

Falcon thought he was going to die. So, he covered his head with both hands and screamed.

"Eeek!"

To his surprise, he heard a voice at this critical moment. "Watch out, Falcon!"

'Is that Barrett?'

Falcon was just about to turn around and look. Before he could do anything, however, someone rammed hard into him.

At the next second, a figure flashed in front of him and dragged him along while they tumbled down the hill.

They had rolled down half the hill when someone yanked at his arm out of nowhere, halting their descent abruptly.

Falcon was hanging over the slope. He was in an extremely perilous position.

He gave himself a second to find his footing before he raised his head and looked. What he saw was Bonnie's white shirt, which was stained with blood.

Obviously, she took a bullet for him and got injured in the process. If she hadn't done that, then Collin might've blown his head off.

"Barrett..... I..." Falcon was washed over by a myriad of emotions.

'The last thing I expected was for Barrett to put his life on the line for my sake. He saved my life.'

"Not now, Falcon." Bonnie's face

turned pale. She had lost too much blood. There's a cave up there Use the rocks and try to climb up Then, you'll pull me up."

"Okay." Falcon brushed his thoughts aside and responded. Then, he did as she told him and climbed up the ledge with the rocks.Chapter

He was very nimble. So, he pushed himself to climb up, despite his injured foot. About two seconds later, he leaned out and extended his hand to Bonnie.

"Here, Barrett!"

"You got it." Bonnie reached out and started climbing up the ledge with Falcon's help.

He thought it'd be quite taxing to pull

her up. To his surprise, she was surprisingly light. On top of that, they well with each other. So, he

Waged to pull her up in no time.

Once Bonnie was on the ledge, she leaned on the walls of the cave and rested. Then, something popped into her mind and she flashed a smile at Falcon.

"That was a close one. We were almost caught by the Nidhoggs."

Falcon looked at her arm. Blood was still streaming out of her bullet wound. Then, he looked at the smile on her face.

His brows knitted tightly as all sorts of emotions washed over him.

"Why did you save me, Barrett? Aren't you worried that you might die for it?"

'I've harbored suspicion for Barrett

on countless occasions and put him through numerous tests. What's

worse, I haven't exactly been

treating him nicely.

'Never have I thought he'd risk himself to save me. Not only did he save my life, but he was also heavily wounded in the process.'

Chapter 1299

"Why, of course, I'm afraid. Why wouldn't I be?" Bonnie shrugged and responded casually, "Aren't we on the same boat? Moreover, you were forced out of hiding and drew the enemy's attention away from Billy because of what I said.

"That's why I have to make sure no danger befalls you. Your safety is my responsibility."

"Well..." For a moment there, Falcon didn't know what to say.

'When Barrett suggested for me to work with him and lure the enemies away from Billy, I thought he only did it to gain favor with Billy.

'I have no qualms for him to do that, but why did he have to drag me into it? I was brimming with hatred for him when I was running away from Collin's pursuit. I swear, I was thinking about teaching Barrett a lesson when we got back!

'Now I realized I've been judging him wrongly. Barrett might've dragged me down with him, but the fact is that the Nidhoggs are hunting for me. Even if I hadn't come out of my hiding, they would've figured out a way to suss me out.

'If that had happened, then all three of us wouldn't have survived the pursuit.

'Simply said, Barrett was forced to make such a decision. What's more, he kept an eye out on my situation in order to keep me safe. I would be a monster if I still blamed him for what happened!

Meanwhile, Bonnie noticed Falcon wasn't saying anything. She pretended to look dispirited and said, "I know you blame me for what happened. You think that I dragged you into this mess. You're right. It is my fault. I have a duty to save you. So, don't think too much about it, Falcon."

"That's not it," Falcon responded.

For a moment there, Bonnie didn't exactly know what he meant.

"Huh?"

"I'm saying that I'm not blaming you. It's not just that, either. I'm actually very thankful because you saved my life. Otherwise, Collin would've shot me dead." Falcon rubbed the back of his head.

е

"This makes us buddies, Barrett. We can confidently entrust our lives to each other now! You can count on my help for anything in the future. I'll do my very best to help you out."

Falcon had always played his cards close. Few souls could touch his heart and gain his trust on such a deep level.

However, that was what Bonnie did today. She managed to make him feel moved deeply.

'That's it. I've made up my mind. From this point on, Barrett is my family, as far as I'm concerned.'

Bonnie saw Falcon's expression and knew what was on his mind.

'I did it. I've won Falcon's trust. It looks like I didn't take the bullet for nothing!'

Bonnie didn't let her thoughts show on her face. Instead, she flashed him a relieved smile.

"I appreciate that, but I don't need your help. I'm thankful enough that you're not holding me responsible for this mess."

"Sigh... What are you talking about?"

Falcon leaned on the wall of thenoveldrama

n

cave, standing not far from Bonnie "I might not have done anything extraordinary, but I do know I have to repay my debt of gratitude. The point is, we're family now. So, don't feel shy to ask for help."

'Repay a debt of gratitude? It sounded nothing but ironic when he said it. I've almost taught him everything I knew when I took him in. What did he do to repay me?

Bonnie was still in the middle of her thoughts when she heard Falcon's voice again.

"Why aren't you saying anything? Is it because you're doubting if I can live up to my words?"

Bonnie came back to her senses

and responded to him with a smile, "That's not it. I've always thought you're a swell guy. That's why I'm willing to trust everything you say. Actually, I don't have any family here. It'd be wonderful to have a brother Who's willing to back me up."

Chapter 1300

All Falcon knew was that he was happy with what Bonnie said. He couldn't help but smile and say, "That's right. We won't be able to make it far if we don't support each other."

Then, he realized her face grew paler by the second. Even her lips were turning pale. He couldn't help but worry about her.

"Your arm might be worse off than my calf is, Barrett. We have to stop the bleeding. Otherwise, your life might be in danger."

What Falcon didn't know was that Bonnie merely made her injury look worse than it really was.

She used her extensive medical knowledge and her expertise in human vital points to make herself look weak. Aside from that, she also made the wound on her arm look more deadly.

'How else am I supposed to make Falcon feel moved and win his complete trust?'

Bonnie brushed her thoughts aside and pretended to be brave. She said weakly, "I-I'm fine. I can keep going."

"I want you to wait for me here while I search for herbs around the cave entrance," he said, limping forward.

Bonnie stopped him. "The Nidhoggs are still lurking outside. You should stay put for now. We went through a lot of trouble to find this hiding spot. What if they saw you?

"There aren't a lot of options around here. If they find us, they'll catch us and bring us to their base for torturing!"

"You have a point, but I must tend to your wound." Falcon frowned, genuinely worried about Bonnie. "Let me think. Maybe I can figure something out." Bonnie didn't stop him. Instead, she let him dwell on his thoughts.

'Back then, I taught him a lot of skills, including medical knowledge. However, he wasn't gifted in this area and merely picked up the run-of-the-mill stuff. That said, what he did learn from me is more than enough to handle most medical situations.

'As for me, I've revealed too much about myself. I can't let him know that I have extensive medical knowledge. Otherwise, it'll make him suspicious of me again. That'd defeat the purpose of everything I've done.'

Falcon checked the surroundings from time to time. He almost excitedly yelped when he saw herbs growing along the cave's edge. These herbs would stop the bleeding.

However, he knew he couldn't make any loud noises, so he had to control his excitement and lower his voice to tell Bonnie the good news. "I noticed some herbs growing along the cave. They'll stop the bleeding. I'll pluck a few and tend to your wound."

Bonnie feigned surprise and asked, "You can recognize such herbs?"

"Yeah, I learned about them a little." Falcon limped over to the cave's edge for the herbs.Chapter

She questioned, "Is that another thing your old boss taught you?"

Falcon stopped when he heard that. Then, he nodded and admitted it. "Yeah."

Bonnie rested her chin on her hands and pretended to be puzzled. "Given what your told me, he must've treated you well. He taught you everything he knew. So, what prompted you to leave the Nidhoggs

and change your allegiance to Billy?"

"I guess we wanted different things in life. I didn't get what I wanted from the Nidhoggs. Things worked differently from my expectations, too."

Falcon plucked the herbs. He found two rocks and proceeded to crush the herbs.

"Is it because you aren't satisfied with the level of power and wealth they gave you?" Bonnie knew Falcon had let down his guard around her, so she chose to be direct.

Falcon treated her like family. He was willing to answer anything she asked.
