Ch. 301..310
Chapter 301
Jesper was furious as he turned to look at Flynn, asking, “What do you think, Flynn?”
Flynn stood upright and solemnly replied, “I think you should uphold your end of the bargain, Mr. Jesper.”
Jesper was stunned, gawking at Flynn. After all, the latter hired the older man, an experienced figure in the world of geodes. Even so, Jesper wondered why Flynn would take Bonnie’s side.
Soon after, a bearded old man dressed in all white stepped forward.
Someone from the crowd exclaimed, “Hey, that’s Mr. Pan from the Gemstone Association!”
“T thought he retired years ago. Also, he stopped caring about what was going on in the circle. What’s he doing here?”
Pan gazed at Bonnie as he walked past her. He approached Jesper and said, “Credibility is essential in our circle. You should deliver on your promise since you made a bet with her.”
Everyone was shocked to hear that. No one expected Pan to come out of retirement after all these years, let alone speak up for Bonnie instead of Jesper. Moreover, Jesper was more seasoned than Bonnie was.
Jesper could just cry, thinking, ‘What rotten luck is this? Why would Mr.
Pan show up just as I make such a bet with Bonnie?’
“M-Mr. Pan, it’s not like I don’t want to uphold my end. How am I supposed to swallow such a huge chunk of rock?”
“Then, why would you claim to do such an outrageous thing if you knew you couldn’t do it? Were you aware you were deceiving her? Your actions are utterly disgraceful!” Pan lectured Jesper harshly.
The latter could feel the onlookers judging him. He wished he could magically disappear to the other end of the world.
“Listen carefully, Jesper. You either do as you said or leave the
association!” Pan exclaimed.
Jesper panicked. Although he was a renowncd figure within the gemstone circle, Pan’s standing and reputation were far greater than Jesper's.
Bonnie approached Pan and stood beside him, saying, “Since the rock is too big for you to swallow, I guess I can be merciful. We can grind it to dust and feed that to you instead.”
Jesper inwardly cursed her and her family. However, he still had to keep his word and swallow the dust. He even considered preemptively calling an ambulance to get his stomach pumped.
Meanwhile , the curious Flynn asked, “Bonnie, how could you tell this humble-looking stone was an ice jadeite with the floating flowers pattem?”
She pointed at her eyes and said, “I saw it with these, of course."
Flynn’s lips twitched , thinking, ‘Is that supposed to be an answer? Of course, she used her eyes. What else would it be?”
The crowd around Pan grew larger. One asked, “Why did you come out of retirement , Mr. Pan? Are you going to rejoin the antique gemstone circle?”
“That would be wonderful, Mr. Pan! With you at the helm again, our
country’s reputation within the circle will be even more glorious!"
Pan grew anxious when he noticed Bonnie leaving the crowd. He said, “ I'd like to have a word with you about what happened earlier, Ms.
Bonnie."
She stopped, turned, and said, “Sure thing."
Later, the two left the venue together. Avril watched as they went and could not help but say, “Why do I get the feeling they know each other?"
She was not the only one who had noticed that. Even Daken, Mairi, and Flynn felt the same way.
Chapter 302
Pan took Bonnie to a place where they could have some privacy. A moment later, he saluted her and said, “Master, when did you come to Jocrovania? You should’ve told me earlier."
“You’re retired now, and I planned to meet with you after the conference. T didn’t expect to run into that mess just now. T had a hunch Jesper would try to weasel his way out of the deal. ‘that’s why | called you. I wanted to play it safc."
‘Jesper is despicable and rotten. His actions only drag us fellow appraisers’ reputations through the mud!” Pan was so upset that he trembled with rage.
“Well, you’re not exactly a young stud. Save your temper for someone more worthy of it. You have to watch your health. Anyway, did you finish the medicines I prescribed last time?"
“They'll last me a couple more days."
“How do you feel?"
“Your medical knowledge is utterly miraculous, Master! I've only taken your medicines and rested briefly , but my health is almost as good as before!"
Not too long ago, there was an auction in Pyralis. The people there spoke highly of a miracle doctor, and Pan could not help but wonder if the doctor was Bonnie.
Bonnie touched Pan’s wrist and said, “Let me check your pulse."
Meanwhile, Avril had stolen away and tailed Bonnie. However, Avril stood afar and could not see her godsister properly. The former muttered, “What’s Bonnie doing?"
Flynn gasped, “Oh, dear, she’s holding Mr. Pan’s hands. Is she cheating on Ivor? If so, why would she pick someone so old?"
Avril rolled her eyes at him and grumbled internally, ‘When did he sneak out with me? Also, to say he has a wild imagination is a major understatement."
“How’s that possible , Flynn? From what I see, she learned everything about gemstones from Mr. Pan."
“That makes more sense.” Flynn clapped. “I was trying to figure out why she was so good at appraising gemstones. Now, it’s all clear. Her mentor is the chairman of the Gemstone Association himself!"
“Who's there?!” Bonnie heard his voice and looked in their direction .
Avril and Flynn exchanged embarrassed glances before they came out of hiding.
“Oh, it’s you guys."
Avril scratched her cheek, saying, “I’m sorry, Bonnie. I didn’t mean to eavesdrop on you and Mr. Pan. I just couldn’t contain my curiosity."
“It’s fine. I don’t mind that you guys saw it.” Bonnie did not intend to keep secrets from Avril. The former was concerned about Pan’s identity and preferred not to reveal it unless necessary. After all, this concerns Pan as well.
As for Flynn, he had known the truth about Bonnie’s identity as Bonita, the nation's leading researcher. So, she was unbothered that he had learned about her real identity.
“Whew, that’s a relief. T thought you were going to get mad at me."
Avril patted her chest gently and sighed in relief. Then, her eyes sparkled. “With that said, I didn’t know you guys knew cach other this well."
Bonnie giggled. Although her relationship with Pan was eye opening, no one would believe she was the mentor of the prestigious Pan, the widely respected chairman of the Gemstone Association.
Flynn gave her two thumbs up and exclaimed , “Color me impressed , Bonnie!"
She was adept at appraising gemstones, and her combat skills were some of the finest he had seen. Moreover, she was the Arvandor’s leading researcher . He simply could not believe he had such a badass sister-in-law.
He would eventually brag about her and bask in her glory when the day came.
Bonnie felt a little uneasy by Flynn’s admiring gaze. She was exasperated and turned to look at Pan instead, saying, “You're about to recover fully, but that doesn’t mean you can afford to take things lightly.
“Tl prescribe you a different medicine. It’ll be milder than the previous one. Take it with you and drink it slowly. Remember to take it thrice a day. It’s the same rules as before.”
Chapter 303
“Okay, I’ll remember to take the new medicine according to your instructions.” Pan promised, his tone reminiscent of a child’s.
Avril leaned toward Flynn and whispered, “Do you find anything funny about the way they talk to each other?”
She was unsure if she had misheard , but Pan addressed Bonnie a little too respectfully . Avril even wondered if it were some tradition among the Jocrovanians.
‘Is it possible they're just this well-mannered?’
However , Flynn’s answer had nothing to do with Avril’s question. He whispered back, “Bonnie has medical knowledge ? It sounds like she’s excellent at it, too.”
Avtil rolled her eyes at him again.
‘Of course, she’s excellent at it! She's the fabled miracle doctor. I would tell Flynn about it if 1 hadn’t promised Bonnie T’d keep her identity a secret. I wish I could tell him how badass Bonnie is.’
Although the Antique Jade Appreciation Conference had nearly ended,
Bonnie still had some free time. It had been a long time since she browsed through the antiques show. Now that she was in Jorcrovania, it was a perfect chance for her to do just that.
Bonnie looked at the duo and asked, “Why were you two following me?”
“Hehe... We came to see what you'll buy at the antiques show. You know, curiosity,” Avril said smilingly.
“Y-Yeah, what she said,” Flynn added.
“Fine, then,” Bonnie responded casually. Then, she started browsing through the antiques show.
“Hey, missy!” One of the store owners waved a majolica at Avril and started promoting it. “Take a look at this fine majolica. It was made in one of the five great kilns in ancient Arvandor fifteen centuries ago!
Look, I think fate brought you here for a reason.
“So, how about it? It’s worth half a million, but I’ll give you a fifty percent discount. You know what? Pll make it easier for both of us. Let’s set the price at two hundred thousand dollars and call it a day. What do you say?”
Avril took the majolica and examined it. Then, her eyes sparkled. She loved it very much.
‘Will you take a look at this, Bonnie? Do you think it’s authentic? | think it is.”
Bonnie did not even grace the majolica. She said, “Are you up on your history lessons? The five great kilns of ancient Arvandor weren’t built until Len centuries ago.”
Avril returned the majolica to the store owner and pouted at him. She then took Bonnie’s arm and grumbled, “It’s good I came with you.
Otherwise, that guy would’ve duped me.”
Then, Bonnie noticed Flynn was about to pay for an antique porcelain in another store.
“Really? You’ re paying five million dollars for that sorry excuse of porcelain?”
The store owner was displeased when he heard that. “Hey, watch your mouth, missy! Are you looking down on it because it looks ancient? The archaeologists unearthed this porcelain from an
ancient ruin. Look at its unique, vintage craftwork. It dates back to a millennia, at least."
“That's right, Bonnie. It’s an excavated antique porcelain. I’m sure it’s worth a lot. Grandpa loves this stuff. So, I’m buying it for him,” Flynn said.
She was speechless for a while. Then, she looked at Flynn and said, “You mistook it for an excavated antique porcelain because it looks ancient. I can tell by one glance that it’s a fake.
“It’s easy to make porcelains look older than it is. They only had to rinse it in hydrochloric acid until it turned yellowish and cracked. Then, they’d bury it in the earth and leave it there for three months. ‘rhat’s how they make porcelains look ancient.”
“Is that the truth?” Flynn tumed to the guilty-looking store owner.
Avril said displeasingly , “Sheesh, Flynn! It’s not like you haven't seen how badass Bonnie is. How could you doubt her?”
After some thought, Flynn came to the same conclusion. After all, Bonnie was Pan’s apprentice. Moreover, she saw an invaluable ice jadeite with a floating flower pattern in an unassuming piece of rock.
‘What was I thinking, doubting her skills?’
“Huh?” Bonnie stopped when she passed by another store.
Chapter 304
“What's wrong?” Avril and Flynn asked simultaneously . As far as they were concerned , Bonnie must have seen something exceptionally well for her to react that way. They looked where she pointed and saw nothing more than a dog enjoying its lunch.
Avril and Flynn were stunned.
“Do you want the dog, Bonnie? It’s just a common dog and doesn’t look cute either.” Avril could not understand why Bonnie wanted the dog.
Flynn retorted on Bonnie’s behalf, “What on earth are you thinking ?
She must like it because she wants to eat it. She doesn't care if it’s adorable."
Avril did not know how to respond, while Bonnie thought, ‘These two aren’t making sense at all. What a pair of clowns."
“Excuse me, sir. How much are you willing to sell this bowl for?"
‘The bowl?! Reall?!"
The duo blushed in embarrassment.
The store owner was shocked, too. “Are you joking, miss? It’s just a dog bowl."
“T’ll pay you a hundred grand for it.” Bonnic was determined to purchase the bowl.
The store owner's eyes glinted with a hint of cunning when he realized her sincerity. “Miss, although you look young, you have sharp eyes. ’m impressed."
The man dumped the dog food onto the ground and handed the bowl to Bonnie. He said, “It might look worn out, but this is made in the kiln of Emperor Gearoid Walshington’s palace. He also owned the Primordial Kiln. Are you familiar with the five great kilns in ancient Arvandor?
“There’s the Primordial Kiln, Sovereign Kiln, Luminescent Kiln, Kinship Kiln, Cosmic Kiln. Among them, the Primordial Kiln is the most prominent. They say one would much rather own a piece of the Primordial Kiln than a sea of wealth. That should tell you just how invaluable this bowl is.
“Even a hundred grand won’t reflect its worth. Here’s the deal. I'll sell it to you for half a million dollars. You're so pretty T’m willing to part with it at half its original value."
Avril was flabbergasted, exclaiming, “What the hell?! Has greed clouded your mind? What was that bullshit about a Primordial Kiln? Why would you use it as a dog bow if it's so invaluable ? What are you thinking ?"
Flynn agreed. “What a load of crap. There’s no way you'd find anything made in the Primordial Kiln on the market now. You can’t even get anything made in the ancient common kilns nowadays. Do you think we’re gullible?"
“Hey, watch your mouth. I'm using it as a dog bowl because it'd be ill - advised to let people know | own such a prized possession. It’s a perfect example of hiding it in plain sight.” The store owner was furious.
Flynn and Avril stared him down. A while later, Bonnie said, “What are the odds? I plan to use it as a dog bowl, too. I'l] offer you ten grand. I'll leave if you haggle over the price."
“Say what?! You offered me a hundred grand ecarlicr, miss. Why’d you lower it to ten grand?” The store owner grew worried.
Bonnie refused to waste time on him. She looked at the duo and said, “ Come on, let’s check out the other stores."
“That's an excellent idea. Let's go to Sacryment. It’s bigger and has better goods than this dump. We might even find an invaluable antique ware there.” Avril held Bonnie’s arm and left.
The store owner realized they were about to leave for real and hastily called out to them, “Hey, wait! Fine. Ten grand, it is. You guys have gotten a sweet deal. It’s a legacy from ancient Arvandor, after all."
Avril rolled her eyes, saying, “Ugh, forget about it, Bonnie. I know you're rich, but you should consider how you spend your money."
Chapter 305
Bonnie turned and looked at the store owner. “A thousand dollars."
“Listen up, miss. You’re—"
Bonnie cut him off before the store owner could finish, “It'll be a hundred if you keep going. Have you ever seen a dog bowl worth a thousand dollars? I'll keep moving if you haggle over the price."
He realized Bonnie’s patience had worn out and was unhappy about it.
Still, a thousand dollars was a lot for a dogbow/l. So, he was still earning more than he could have bargained for. “Fine, fine. That’s just my luck.
A thousand, it is. Here, take it."
Bonnie paid the store owner, and Avril examined the bowl. The latter could not help but ask, “What do you want this dog bowl for?"
Bonnie was pleased with her purchase, saying, “That bowl was made in Emperor Gearoid Walshington’s Primordial Kiln. It'll be worth at least five million dollars if T put it up for auction."
Avril and Flynn’s eyes widened with surprise.
“I-Is this actually made in the Primordial Kiln? Are you toying with me?"
“She’s right. If this is an invaluable antique bowl from the Primordial Kiln, why would he use it as a dog bowl?"
Bonnie disdainfully looked at the store owner, whose face fell. “He doesn’t recognize its value and thought it was just a cheap bowl. He’s got no one else to blame but himself."
The store owner was beside himself with rage. “The deal’s off. Give it back!"
“We agreed on a price and made the transaction. You can’t take it back once you've sold it. That’s how it works in the antique ware circle.
Moreover, you meant trickle me. If logic prevails, people like you must’ve duped a lot of money from ignorant buyers. Be grateful I paid you a thousand dollars for it."
Bonnie’s words cut so deep that the store owner wanted to tear her head off. However, he could not do it in the antique show, not to mention in broad daylight. Still, that did not mean he could do it later, either.
‘She'll pay for this soon!"
When the trio left, the store owner made a phone call, “Bruno, gather your men. I need you to teach someone a lesson."
Bonnie and the other two browsed the antique show for a while longer before leaving. Avril asked, “Are we going to Sacryment?"
Bonnie rubbed her belly and said, “I’m a little hungry. Let’s grab some food instead. Our flight’s on tomorrow afternoon. We can visit Sacryment tomorrow morning."
“All right, let’s do that."
“Vm pretty familiar with this area. I'll take you guys to a nice restaurant,” Flynn suggested.
“Well, what are we waiting for? Let's go."
The trio walked for a while and turned into an alley. Then, a group of thugs blocked their way. These guys wore Halloween masks, so Bonnie could not recognize them. They were also armed with
machetes and bats, closing in on the trio.
“Who are you guys? Whal are you doing?” Bonnie asked dryly.
“Heh, heh! Do you have to ask? We’re muggers, of course. Cut the crap and give up all of your valuable belongings! Otherwise, we'll take more drastic measures!” The lead thug waved his machete at Bonnie.
Bonnie lowered her gaze and pondered before questioning, “Did the dog bowl store owner send you?"
The thugs exchanged glances when they heard that, wondering how she figured it out. It was as if Bonnie could read their minds because the next thing she said was, “Are you guys wondering how | figured it out?"
Avril and Flynn gazed at her, aiso curious about how she figured it out.
Bonnie analyzed the situation leisurely, “It’s simple. You asked for our valuable belongings. We just left an antique store. If you didn’t know we had the bowl made in the Primordial Kiln, why would you decide to mug us now?"
“Hahaha! You’re bright, indeed, but you're still a fool. We don’t know any antique store owner."
“Why are we still wasting our breath with her, chief? Let’s mug them before things get complicated!”
CHAPTER 306
You’re right. Let’s get them, boys! Once we finish this job, I’ll take you out for a good time!
The other thugs grew excited when they heard what their chief said. They raised their weapons and dived at Bonnie and her friends.
Avril and Flynn paled at that moment, both frozen in terror. The latter exclaimed, “D–Don’t do anything rash! I’m from the Knight family, y’know!”
One of the thugs turned and asked his leader, “Chief, he says he’s from the Knight family.”
“What a moron. Are you going to believe everything he says? Stop wasting time and mug”
them!”
“R–Roger!”
“Bonnie, what should we do? There are so many of them. We can’t fight them off,” Avril fearfully said while cowering behind her friend.
Bonnie flashed her a faint smile and said, “Don’t worry. There might be many of them, but
we have more people on our side.”
“Huh?” Avril was puzzled. After all, there were only three of them. Worse, Bonnie was the
only one who knew how to fight.
On the other hand, Flynn understood Bonnie’s implications. Excitement soon replaced hist
anxiety.
Chop–chop–chop!
A moment later, they heard the sound of a helicopter above them. Everyone looked up and saw one helicopter in the air. Soon after, a second helicopter flew in, followed by a third, and a fourth. Eventually, ten helicopters gathered.
Everyone except Bonnie and Flynn gawked at the astounding sight as teams of men in
army uniforms slid down the helicopter ropes. Before they knew it, the men pointed their
rifles and pistols at the thugs surrounding them.
The thugs were so terrified they could almost pass out.
“Ch–chief, what’s happening?!”
“I–I could ask you the same thing!”
There were more than enough men to deal with a riot in an entire city. It looked like the army men were busting an International crime organization, even though the small–time thugs were Just mugging a young lady.
Take them to the brigs!” The squad leader barked.
“Sir, yes, sir!”
His team moved in quickly and subdued the thugs before dragging them away. Soon after, silence hung over the alley, and the trio were the only ones remaining.
Avril’s jaw dropped when the helicopters arrived until now. Finally, she stammered, “Wh- what on earth just happened? Why would a whole squad of army men appear to seize those thugs?”
Flynn would have liked to tell her what happened. However, he could say nothing because he needed to keep Bonnie’s identity a secret. The big commotion reminded him of the days he went against Bonnie. Flynn understood how shocked and helpless the thugs must
have felt.
A sense of joy arose in his chest. Finally, he was not the only one who had suffered a similar traumatic experience.
Bonnie said leisurely, “Maybe the thugs committed serious wicked crimes in the past.”
Flynn could not help but grumble internally, ‘Exactly! Those thugs tried to mug the leading. researcher of Arvandor! If things go wrong, they might even endanger her life.
‘They’ll soon learn what atrocious crime they had just committed. I’m sure they’ll regret it very much because they’re about to rot in prison for the rest of their lives. Fortunately, Grandpa saved Bonnie’s life once.
‘Otherwise, I would’ve suffered the same fate–possibly worse than these thugs back when
I crossed her.”
Meanwhile, the store owner awaited the good news from his group of thugs. However, instead of seeing his henchmen, Jim appeared with a team of policemen.
“What can I do for you, officers?” The store owner thought Jim looked familiar, but the former could not tell why.
CHAPTER 307
Jim said coldly, “We did some digging around and found you responsible for the mugging of Ms. Bonita,
The store owner was so shocked that he stammered, “Wh–what? M–Ms. Bonita?”
Finally, he recognized the man before him, “A–Are you the Master Jim?!”
‘This man is Ms. Bonita’s bodyguard! No wonder why I thought he looked familiar. I’ve seen Jim on TV before!”
“Th–this must be a misunderstanding. I don’t even know what Ms. Bonita looks like. If that’s the case, I couldn’t have ordered my men to mug-”
Realization set in as he put two and two together. He froze as Bonnie’s face appeared in his mind..
‘If memory serves me right, the girl and guy beside that girl called her Bonnie. Come on, is this a joke?! Was that girl the famous Ms. Bonita?”
“How could you not know what she looks like? She bought a bowl made from the Primordial Kiln from you. I saw it myself,” Jim retorted.
The store owner slumped to the floor, pale as cold sweat rolled down his cheeks.
‘My life is over.”
Bonnie and the gang took a flight back to Pyralis on Sunday afternoon.
As a chatterbox, Flynn kept talking to Bonnie all flight long. Worse, even Avril chattered
nonstop, “This is unexpected, but the store owner who tried to dupe us was captured for
crossing Ms. Bonita.”
Bonnie continued to read a medical magazine and did not respond to Avril. The latter
continued, “I guess he had it coming. Still, we owe one to Ms. Bonita. If it weren’t for her,
those thugs would’ve gotten what they wanted last night.”
Flynn looked at Avril as if looking at a simpleton. He thought, “Come on, Ms. Bonita is right beside you. Otherwise, why would the army appear to arrest those thugs?”
When the plane landed in Pyralis, Bonnie saw Ivor waiting from afar. He strode toward her
and glared at Flynn, saying, “She’s my fiancee. Keep your distance.
Uh..
Flynn knew Ivor was Jealous of him, so he hastily explained, “I have nothing but admiration
and respect for Bonnie. I don’t have any funny ideas about her, Ivor. If I do, may the heavens strike me with thunder.”
“Hmm, well said.” Ivor nodded approvingly.
Flynn was surprised and dazed. After all, he had never received a compliment from his cousin until now. Although he was not thrilled about it, it felt strange.
“Let’s go.” Ivor held Bonnie’s hand and pulled her away. His smile grew wider when he realized she did not shake him off. He added, “We’ll have dinner at my place. I told the kitchen staff to make your favorite dishes for you.
“I even picked your favorite bottle of wine from the cellar. That reminds me, I also told Alfred to pick up some desserts from Dessert Oasis.”
Bonnie felt pleasantly surprised. After hearing what he had prepared for her, she was unsure how to turn down his offer. More importantly, it would be unacceptable for her to waste the wine, dishes, and desserts.
“All right, I’ll go with you.”
“Once we finish
dinner, we’ll visit Grandma. I made an appointment with Dr. Fanelli several days ago. He’ll be there tonight. Have you met him before? It doesn’t matter. Tonight’s a wonderful opportunity for you to meet him.”
Bonnie stopped when she heard that. Her eyes widened in shock.
CHAPTER 308
Bonnie had received a text from Ivor before she went to Jocrovania. He stated that he had made an appointment for her to treat his grandmother. Bonnie was so focused on antique gemstones for the past few days that the appointment slipped her mind.
“Um, I won’t be going to the hospital tonight.”
Ivor asked in puzzlement, “Why not? I wanted to introduce you to Dr. Fanelli a while ago, but you turned it down because you had something to attend to. If I remember correctly, you felt bad for missing the chance to meet him. What’s stopping you this time?”
Bonnie felt stumped. She had said that last time because she needed to dispel Ivor’s suspicions about her. She answered, “Nothing special. It’s just that it was a long flight from Jocrovania, and I’m exhausted. I want to sleep as early as possible after dinner.
“Also, it’ll take longer than a few sessions to treat your Grandma’s osteoarthritis. I’ll meet
Dr. Fanelli another time.”
“Sure thing. You should sleep earlier if you’re tired.” Ivor squinted at her, subtly scanning her. He knew how strong she was and that a trip to Jocrovania would not have drained her so much. Bonnie would not feel tired even if Ivor took her on a journey around the world.
He was sure she was trying to keep something from him.
After dinner, Ivor visited his grandmother alone. He told her to take a good rest before leaving. He had also told Floyd to watch over Bonnie at home.
Bonnie glanced at Floyd, standing guard by her door. She concluded that Ivor was indeed suspicious of her. She said, “Go and rest, Floyd. I’m going to bed now.”
“I’m okay, Ms. Bonnie. You should get some sleep. I’ll continue to guard your room.”
“I’m not used to having someone standing by the door. I can’t sleep if you don’t leave. If you keep standing here, I might as well return to Lenfield Resort.”
“Well, I-” Floyd was stumped. “Let me call Mr. Ivor.”
“Suit yourself.” Bonnie closed the door and returned to her room.
If Ivor had not insisted that she spend the night here, she would have returned to Lenfield
Resort. That way, Floyd would not have guarded the door and blocked her exit. Even so,
she could not blame Ivor entirely. After all, Bonnie had a soft spot for him.
Even so, she just could not stand it when Ivor Insisted on her staying.
There was a reason Bonnle stayed. At least she would know Floyd was around to monitor
If she had returned to Lenfield Resort, he would have stalked her without her
knowledge.
Bonnie played some music on her phone and raised the volume. She then locked the door and slid open the window before leaping out.
In the hospital, Ivor stared at Bonnie, who disguised herself as Dr. Fanelli. The former could not explain his thoughts. Although the doctor looked nothing like Bonnie, there was
something familiar about the doctor’s eyes.
“What took you so long, Dr. Fanelli?”
“I apologize, but the traffic is terrible tonight.” Bonnie had thought of that excuse before
coming.
“There’s no need to apologize, Doc. My grandma’s waiting for you in there. Please begin the treatment.” Ivor gestured for her to enter.
“Of course.” Bonnie entered and greeted Winnie before treating her.
Meanwhile, Ivor gazed at the doctor and noticed the piercing in the doctor’s ears. The former lowered his gaze and asked in puzzlement, “Why do you have an ear piercing, Doc?”
Bonnie’s heart sank, but she seemed unfazed on the outside. She said, “You’re pretty conservative, Mr. Ivor. We’re not living in ancient times. It’s normal for guys to have a piercing or two these days.”
Ivor kept his suspicions in check while monitoring the doctor’s expression. He said, “Yeah, it’s quite common for a guy to have a piercing, but not two.”
CHAPTER 309
Oh, Bonnie responded briefly and did not bother to explain herself.
That’s enough, Ivor. Why are you hounding Dr. Fanelli with these mundane questions? Mind how you carry yourself.” Winnie did not understand why her grandson was uncharacteristically drilling the doctor’s private life.
There’s something off about him today.”
“Hmm, you have a point, Grandma.” With that, he stopped questioning the doctor. He did not say a word until Bonnie finished the treatment, and he brought her out of the ward.
Ivor said, “I have a friend whose grandfather’s health is deteriorating. None of the prominent doctors he hired knew where to begin. He asked me for a favor. Will you check on his grandfather for me?”
Bonnie looked at him and said, “If that’s the case, why didn’t your friend attend the auction
for the miracle doctor’s service?”
Ivor explained, “Where do I even begin? My friend’s grandfather is pretty stubborn. He feels bad that his family worked so hard to find countless doctors for his condition. It has been over a decade, but they still aren’t close to finding him a cure..
“So, he’s beginning to think there’s no cure for his condition. He thinks his family is just wasting their time and money for him. That’s why he told them to give up on him.”
Bonnie was confused, asking, “So, why is your friend looking for a doctor for his grandfather now?”
Ivor’s brows furrowed as he stared at her. “He’s so ill that he’s bedridden. He practically has one foot in a grave. He won’t last until New Year if the family doesn’t do anything now. I know you have protocols for how you do things, Doc. I’m asking you to do me a favor this time. I’ll owe you one afterward and will do everything I can to repay you.”
Bonnie would have helped him even if he did not mention the latter part. After all, Ivor had helped her numerous times, even though she did not need his help.
“No problem.”
Ivor’s eyes widened in surprise. He did not expect to succeed so quickly. He had even devised several ideas to convince the doctor if he turned him down.
Thanks, Doo. No words could describe Ivor’s gratefulness besides this brief response
When can I drop by your friend’s place?” She asked.
It’s your call.”
After some thought, she said, “We’ll do it tomorrow night.”
Since she needed to treat Harold in the Shepards‘ house tomorrow afternoon, she could finish everything in one day.
The following day, Bonnie visited the Shepards‘ house to treat Harold. A while later,
Hadwin and his mother arrived. Demetria told her son, “I heard the miracle doctor will treat
Harold this afternoon. We must establish a good relationship with the doctor.”
“You can count on me, Mom. I came prepared.” Hadwin waved the expensive gifts he had
brought. Rhodes spent plenty of money on these gifts to make a good impression on the
miracle doctor.
“Come on, let’s head in.”
“Okay.”
When Trina heard Hadwin and Demetria had arrived, she paled and hastened over to stop.
them. “Hi, Hadwin and Demetria. What brings you here?”
“We heard that the miracle doctor is here. We prepared some gifts for them.” Hadwin
could not wait to meet the doctor.
However, Trina was worried, thinking ‘I knew they’d come to meet the miracle doctor! I won’t let that happen. I must stop them no matter what. They must never know who the
miracle doctor really is!”
“Say, where did you hear that from?”
“Are you telling me the doctor isn’t here?” Demetria was startled, asking, “How can that
be?”
CHAPTER 310
You must’ve misheard. The miracle doctor Isn’t here today, I swear.”
Demetria looked at Trina suspiciously. The former was confident she had gotten the right news. “If the doctor isn’t here today, when will they drop by?”
“I–I’m not sure about that.”
“Is that so?” Demetria smiled and added, “That’s okay. Since we’re here, we might as well stick around. It’s almost lunchtime, so why don’t we join you?”
“Um…” Trina grew worried again.
Demetria knew something seemed unusual about her future daughter–in–law. Trina was undoubtedly hiding something. If not, she would not behave so strangely.
Demetria questioned, “What’s wrong? Is this how your family treats their guests? Don’t be cheapskates and refuse to cook a meal for us.”
“No, no, that’s not it. It’s just-”
“Just what? I’ve had enough of you. If the doctor isn’t around, I’ll just talk to your mom,” Demetria said as she walked past Trina.
The latter realized her future mother–in–law was about to enter the house and tried to block
her. However, Hadwin stopped Trina and said, “What’s wrong, Trina? Why do I feel you don’t want us to go inside? Are you hiding something?”
He also noticed something amiss with Trina.
“That’s preposterous. What do I have to hide?”
“All right, I believe you. Come on, let’s go inside together.” Hadwin chased after his mother.

Meanwhile, cold sweat covered Trina’s forehead.
‘Oh, no! What do I do now?”
When Demetria and Hadwin reached the living room, no one was around to greet them.
The latter asked, “Where is everyone?”
Demetria gazed upstairs at Harold’s room and said, “If my assumptions are correct, the
doctor should be treating Harold now. The whole family should be in his room.”
thought Trina said the doctor isn’t here today.
After some thought, Demetria responded, “Trina’s trying to hide something from us.”
What do you think she’s trying to hide?”
guess we’ll find out.”
When Trina entered the living room, the mother and son were upstairs. They opened Harold’s room door, and Hadwin’s eyes widened in disbelief. “How is that possible?! Wait,
what?”
At that moment, Bonnie was administering acupuncture to Harold while the rest of the Shepards huddled around his bed. Suddenly, Hadwin remembered calling off his engagement to Bonnie. He
also remembered the countless times he looked down on her.
Demetria covered her mouth and gasped, exclaiming, “I–I can’t believe Bonnie’s the world- renowned miracle doctor! That’s impossible!”
Simultaneously, the older woman understood why Trina tried to stop her and her son from entering. The latter did not want them to learn about Bonnie’s identity as the miracle doctor. Trina feared Hadwin would ditch her and choose to marry Bonnie instead.
Gresham and Vera also felt concerned when they saw the mother and son’s expressions. The former duo felt uneasy for Trina.
When Bonnie finished the treatment, she stood up and prepared to leave. However, Hadwin stood before her and questioned, “Hold it, Bonnie! Are you really the miracle
doctor?”
Bonnie looked at him and responded casually, “What do you think?”
“Y–You are the miracle doctor! Why didn’t you tell me earlier ?!” Hadwin was
immense regret.
