Chapter 391

‘Wh-why would the paper have Bonnie’s name on it?

Is it someone else with the same name? Yeah! That has to be it. Is this a different person who's also named Bonnic?

Natalee’s voice grew weaker towards the end of her sentence when she realized how solemn the university president looked.

Slowly but surely, she looked more and more miserable. Then, she staggered and fell on the floor.

Her mind traveled back to what Bonnie told her.

‘She said she could expel me anytime she saw fit. Then, there’s Trina.

She also picked a fight with Bonnie."

She wasn’t sure if she could cry or laugh about this disaster.

‘Who would've fucking known that Bonnie’s the next university president?! Who in their right mind would even think about something like this?"

She felt she could throw her head back and how! at the sky.

Natalee's classmates had been waiting for her return for a long time, and she was finally back. After all, they were very curious about why the university president summoned an ordinary student like her.

To their surprise, Natalee looked ashen.

“what happened to her? She looked like her mom had just passed away.

“You said it. What in the world happened? Why isn’t she saying anything? The gossiping students kept throwing around guesses, trying to figure out what happened Lo Natalee.

Avril, who knew the truth, felt superior to the others. “What else could it be? She’s expelled, of course. “What nonsense are you talking about, Avril? Why would she be expelled for no good reason? You're just nasty and want bad things to happen to her.” Some of the classmates spoke up for Natalee.

“Why was she expelled? Why, it happened before our very eyes a while ago. Did it slip your mind already? “Hahaha. Are you talking about the deal Bonnie made with Natalee ? “Exactly! All of them couldn’t help but roll their eyes at her.

Everyone was debating over the truth when Natalee came before Bonnie. Taking a deep breath, the former bowed deeply at Bonnie with all eyes on them.

“Pm sorry, Bonnie. I should've known better than to pick a fight with you. I mean, I did do it on purpose. Silence hung over the lecture hall.

Everyone was shocked!

They were so baffled by Natalee’s actions that they began questioning their worldview. It took them several seconds to come to their senses, and started muttering again.

“What fresh hell is this? Are my eyes deceiving me? I think I just saw Natalee apologizing to Bonnie. Moreover, she apologized to her properly, even giving a bow and everything. Wh-what’s going on here? One stunned classmate stiffly said,

“Your eyes are working fine. You're just dreaming. We’re all sharing the same dream about the whole thing. Natalee was sLill bowing to Bonnie. She was biting her lips, and her eyes turned red.

Bonnie glanced at her condescendingly and nonchalantly.

“Did you find out about it? “T did! T know everything now. I’m sorry! I mean it! T can’t be expelled.

My family struggled financially and had to take up jobs to support my tuition fees.

“It wasn’t easy for me to get into Pyralis University. How can I look them in the eyes if I'm expelled? What am I supposed to tell my parents? Natalee was shaken by the thought of it so much that she could just kill herself.

Bonnie merely stared at her calmly.

“You come from a modest family, and you represent their hopes. Maybe you should've spent more time studying instead of always picking fights with your fellow students.

“Did you think you'll have your pick of jobs because you're going to graduate from Pyralis University ? You couldn't be more wrong if you think that’s how it works.

Chapter 392

“Of course, you'd have your pick of specific jobs, but what about the best companies? Have you thought about working in one of the top five hundred companies in the world? For that matter, have you thought about making something of yourself?

“Did you think the university was the end of your academic life? Well, news flash, Natalee. Pyralis University is just the beginning of your life.

You'll have to work harder than you’ re doing now if you want to succeed. Tears flowed down Natalee’s chin, and fell to the floor. She hung her head and said, “I'll hold onto your words dearly, Bonnie. Trust that I’ve seen the error of my ways. I won't do this again. I'll stop wasting my time and my life. Instead, I'll focus on my studies.

Bonnie nodded satisfyingly. “It's important that we learn from our mistakes, and you did just that. Fine. I'l] give you another chance. I hope you’ll cherish it. “Thank you! Thank you!” Natalee was so happy that she shed tears of joy and then cried even harder.

The rest of the classmates were stunned by what they saw.

The way Bonnie talked to her was nothing like when fellow students talked. It was more like a teacher lecturing a student.

Russell was watching the entire thing through the footage. Raising his hand, he stroked his beard.

“1 knew I had the right person in mind. Bonnie is perfect for taking over my position. It wasn’t about Bonnie’s talents so much as it was about her character.

Once their classes ended, Avril pulled Bonnie away and ran toward the entrance.

“Why are you in such a hurry? “How could I not? You promised to take me to the research institute. No one can contain the excitement! Bonnie chuckled and shook her head. “I feel I need to remind you. No photographs. “Geez. Do you think I’m that much of a fool? This is Bonita Research Institute, the most advanced research facility in Arvandor. You guys study the most essential things in the world.

“With that in mind, why would I take pictures? I wouldn’t even dare do something like that.” Avril said as she pulled Bonnie into the car. They had just gotten in when Flynn squeezed into the car as well.

“What are you doing here?” Avril said, exasperated.

“Hehe!” He flashed them a smile and said to Bonnie, “Can you give me a tour of your research institute as well? “What makes you think she should bring you along? Not only are we best fricnds, but my mother is her godmother. Bonnic loves my mother deeply, too.

“My point is that we’re like family. So, it’s okay for me to go. Perhaps you should kill your time somewhere far, far away.” Avril straight up asked him to leave.

That riled him up. “Ivor is my cousin. She’s something of a sister -in- law to me. I’m her family, for real. What makes you think I’m an outsider? “Come on. They aren't even a couple now. Stop pretending to be her family and get out of the car.” Avril gripped his clothes and pulled him out of the car.

“Try repeating what you said in front of Ivor.” He gripped the top of the car and wouldn’t let go.

“Ivor gets jealous at the slightest stuff. Do I look like a fool who'd say it before him? Cut your crap and get out of the car. Tried as she might, but she couldn’t yank him away. Then, she looked at Bonnie angrily.

“Look at him, Bonnie... “Let him come,” Bonnie said casually.

“Thank you, Bonnie!” He yelled out of excitement.

Turning around, she gave her a sidelong glance and said, “T’m not your sister-in-law. “Take her advice , Flynn. Stop saying she’s your sister-in-law!” Avril growled.

Flynn ignored her and flashed Bonnie another smile. “Alright, I'll listen to everything you say, Bonnie. After all, you’re my sister-in-law. Bonnie didn’t know what to say for a second there.

“I notice a common trait among the men in the Knight family. All of you are shameless. “Guilty as charged.” He nodded. “With that said, there’s another scarier common trait you didn’t know. “What's that?” Avril asked, curious.

Bonnie was a little curious, too.

“All men in the Knight family get jealous easily and love their wives to the death!” Flynn said proudly.

Chapter 393

Bonnie and Avril were speechless.

“I'm just at a loss for words. Is this something to be proud of?” Avril said.

‘Why, of course! The fact is that it’s all up to the men if their family is going to have some peace and harmony. The family will be chaotic if the man doesn’t respect his wife.

“However, if the man doted on his better half, his family would be surrounded by peace. This is an old family saying that’s stuck with the Knights for generations. Avril might've felt speechless, but she couldn’t help but think that Flynn made a fine point.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the research institute.

Bonnie had just taken a few steps when she turned around and realized both were rooted to the spot.

“Aren’t you guys here to see the institute? What are you waiting for? “You don’t get it, Bonnie. This is a solemn, almost sacred moment for me. | have to offer up a prayer before I walk inside. Otherwise, | would be disrespecting the research institute. As far as I’m concerned, this is hallowed ground.” With that, Avril brought her hands together and started praying.

Then, she said, “Amen. Her lips twitched a little. “This is a research institute, not a church. “Avril has a point, Bonnie. We have to show this place the respect it deserves.” Looking solemn, he clasped his hands and bowed. Then, he bowed a second and third time.

Bonnie’s lips twitched again. ‘Should I just help them set up an altar or something?"

“Hey, lm going inside now. “Alright. We’re done. Wait for us. Not long after, Avril and Flynn went into the world-renowned research institute. Both of them acted like a couple of bumpkins stepping foot into the city for the first time and swept their eyes across the place, as curious as a cat.

“Dang! Isn’t this the latest scanner? They’ re costly! I can't believe there are so many of them here!” Flynn made a beeline to the scanner he talked about and got all excited.

On the other hand, Avril saw one of the old professors buried in his work. Her eyes sparkled immediately.

“Is that Professor Jamie Harper? He won a Material Science Award. Hey, that’s Professor Riley Chambers. She won an International Science Award. Professor Charlie Knowles is here, too. He’s awesome. He won a lot of awards, too. Moreover, he skipped grades constantly and made a name for himself when he was twenty. Her voice was too loud and irritated one of the old professors.

“Who's making a ruckus and disrupting us? Shocked, Avril covered her mouth. ‘T’m a dead woman. They’re the world’s greatest scientists, and I’ve offended them."

Jamie turned around and looked at her displeasingly . He was about to say something when he saw Bonnie, who was standing next to her, and he immediately adopted an altogether different attitude.

“Greetings , Ms. Bonita! I’ve finished the task you entrusted me. You'll find the report in your office. “Okay. Good work.” Bonnie nodded in approval.

Jamie was overjoyed to hear it. “Just doing my duty, Ms. Bonita. “I?ll leave you to it.” She waved at him.

“Alright. I'll tend to my experiments at once. Avril watched as Jamie left at Bonnie’s instruction, and she remembered how prominent he was in the science industry. Of course, she knew about

Bonnie’s real identity, but she couldn’t wrap her head around how much of a badass the latter was right now.

The prominent professors respectfully greeted Bonnie while the duo went to Bonnie’s office. Avril was stunned the entire walk.

She had always known Bonita was this remarkably prestigious character who stood at the world's top. So, she had nothing but respect and admiration for the nation's leading researcher, Ever since she found out that Bonnie was, in fact, Bonita, she was all the more surprised. At times, she still couldn’t believe it.

Chapter 394

Avril saw Bonnie doing exceptionally well in her expertise. She also noticed the old, prominent professors' respect toward the latter. ‘That was when she truly understood just how incredible her best fricnd was!

Flynn shared her sentiment. He could feel more of what she was feeling now because he tried to kidnap Bonnie once. The moment when the tanks and helicopters showed up was so traumatic that it was seared into his memories.

“I’m going to buy dinner later, Bonnie. Go ahead and eat anything you want!”

Bonnie turned around and looked at Avril. “Should we take his offer? “Of course! We have to go. We'd be fools if we didn't eat a free meal. Flynn’s parents, Gunnar and Sydney, were chatting with a company CEO in a coffee shop adjacent to the Bonita Research Institute.

“Is your son coming back to Arvandor, Dominick?” She asked.

“That’s right. This son of mine has been wasting his time for a while now. It’s about time he comes back and takes over my company.”

“Does he have a girlfriend?”

It didn’t take a genius to know what she was getting at.

“Are you going to recommend someone to him?”

“1 like that you go straight to business, Dominick. | have a niece who's just twenty - one years old, and she came from a prestigious family, too.

She’s well-versed in music, chess, painting, and more.

“Needless to say, your family, the Shermans, is reputable as well. I think it’s a good match. How about we set up an old-fashioned blind date for the young fellows?”

Dominick rubbed the side of his head, feeling a slight headache.

“7 don’t think TI can make that kind of call. He doesn't like artistic ladies.

He's locking for someone good at cooking, intelligent, and pretty.

Moreover, he loves it when a lady knows her way around a fight and commands an imposing air.”

“Gee...” Sydney parted her lips a little. “I-I’m not sure if you can find such a perfect, all-rounded lady, Dominick. Are you sure such a person exists in the world?”

“Don’t get me started! 1 don’t even know where to begin! My son’s already twenty - five years old and has been single for as long as he has lived. He practically gave me a head full of grey hair. Frankly , he went overseas searching for one such lady.”

His headache grew worse the more he spoke about it.

Suddenly, he saw a young lady from across the road, and his eyes sparkled. “What a beautiful lady! She’s like an angel from heaven. I wonder how’s her cooking?”

Gunnar and Sydney got curious and looked at the lady he was staring at.

At first glance, they discovered that the lady’s beauty was beyond this world. Then, they realized something.

‘Isn’t that Bonnie? Also, why’s Flynn walking behind her?’

Dominick scanned her from head to toe, his eyes full of adoration. "

She’s standing quite far away, but I can sense she's quite a tough lady!

“It’s a shame, though. She looked so frail and defenseless that a strong wind could’ve blown her away. I don't think my son would’ve liked her, after all.”

Someone charged at Flynn and snatched his phone before bolting.

Bonnie saw it and took off after him at a frightening speed. She quickly caught up to the thief and pinned him to the ground.

“Splendid! She’s both beautiful and powerful! She’s the one. I’ve found my future daughter-in-law!” Dominick said and made to go after Bonnie.

“Hold your horses, Dominick.” Sydney looked a little uneasy. She tried to keep it together, but it was hard for her.

“I have to hurry on over. Otherwise, I’m going to miss out on such a fine daughter-in-law. My ancestors had only ever had one son. I finally

managed to have a couple of them, but my youngest son was stolen from me when he was just born.

“Sigh. Let's drop this sad topic. My eldest son is the only one who could

carry on the Sherman family’s lineage. The universe has finally shown

us mercy and given me such a perfect daughter -in-law. | will miss this golden opportunity if I don’t grasp it right now.”

Chapter 395

Dominick couldn’t wait any longer and dashed out of the coffee shop.

Sydney and Gunnar swapped glances before they took off after them. “

Don’t go over there, Dominick. Sh-she’s Bonnie!”

“Hmm?” Dominick stopped, turned around, and looked at the married couple. “Do you guys know her?”

“She’s a good -for- nothing who got disowned by the Shepards.”

“So, she’s the infamous Bonnie!” Dominick was mildly surprised. Then, his eyes were filled with admiration as he glanced at the young lady.

“Everyone keeps saying she’s a good-for-nothing, but she got into

Pyralis University and won the Best Scholar Award. If my family had one such good -for-nothing , then my ancestors would’ve smiled upon us from heaven.

“Save your breath, guys. She’s immensely talented, beautiful, and a

powerful fighter. This is the chance of a lifetime! The universe must’ve

taken pity on us, Shermans, and granted us a gift in the shape of a perfect lady.”

He had made up his mind. He would dote on his daughter-in-law if she married into his family.

Realizing that Dominick walked away again, Gunnar pulled his arm again. “You've got to listen to me, Dominick. Not only was she disowned by the Shepards, but she was also Ivor's fiancé.”

“What?!” That shocked Dominick to his core. Turning around, he looked at Gunnar with widened eyes. “I-Is she the fiancé Sigmund found for Ivor?”

“That’s right.”

“Oh, so that’s how it is. That settles it, then.” Dominick patted his chest gratefully. Wasn’t their engagement supposed to last for a month? It's been way longer than that now. Moreover, it was called off. So, it'll be fine.”

“The engagement has been called off, but Ivor fell in love with her and doted on her very much.”

Now, this got Dominick rooted to the spot.

“Isn’t it true that your nephew isn’t very interested in ladies? Rumor has it that he was actually into dudes. What made him change his mind?”

“That's something we’re dying to know, too.”

Dominick was stunned for a couple of seconds before he rested his gaze on Bonnie, who had walked far away from him before he glanced at Flynn.

“Eh? A little birdie also told me that your son was kicked out of Pyralis because of her. Shouldn’t he hate her guts? But why does he walk behind her, acting like he was her henchman?”

He had just said it when he saw Bonnie reaching out and knocking Flynn in the head. Then, the latter chuckled, looking as happy as ever.

The sight of it had all three of them stunned.

“I-Is that your son? Tsn’t he quite cocky most of the time?” Dominick thought he no longer knew who Flynn was.

He wasn’t alone because even Gunnar and Sydney thought the same thing.

“I don’t think that’s our son. Let’s just leave.”

Bonnie was having dinner in the hotel when she heard a commotion at the entrance.

“Open your eyes and look at this fine establishment. This is a five-star hotel. How do you figure it’s okay to beg for money at a place like this?

“Ew. Your clothes are downright filthy. Get the heck out of here! You’re

scaring our customers away. I will have you kicked out if you do not

cooperate!” The security guard looked at the beggar fiercely and roared.

The boy was six years old. Holding out a cracked bowl, the boy looked pitiful and said, “Please, sir. Show some kindness. My grandpa’s heavily ill, and he’s about to die.

“All he wants is to have some nice food before he moves on to a better place. That’s why I’m here. I beg you. I'll take whatever leftover you have.”

“I said, get the heck out of here. Do you hear me?!” The security guard shoved the young boy hard. The boy staggered and fell to the ground.

‘What do you think you’ re doing?!” Bonnie angrily dashed to the

entrance and helped the boy up.

“Are you okay? Did he hurt you?”

Raising his arm, he noticed it was scraped on the ground. There was

some blood seeping out from the wound, too.

Bonnie’s face grew grim. Shooting the security guard with a cold, brutal glare, she said, “He’s just a kid. It’s bad enough that you lack any sort of sympathy and refuse to give him some food, but you made it worse by shoving him so savagely.

“I take it back—a lack of sympathy isn’t your issue. You downright lack what makes us human.”

The security guard was embarrassed. “I-It's part of the job description.

I have no choice but to oblige it.”

“Job description? Alright. Tell me, then. Does your hotel have a rule saying you must shove a kid?” She was gripped with an intense rage.

Chapter 395

Dominick couldn’t wait any longer and dashed out of the coffee shop.

Chapter 396

Chapter 396 “U-Um...”

Flynn walked over and said, “Why are you stuttering?! I'll tell the hotel to fire you immediately.”

The security guard recognized him. He fell on his knees at once. “I'm sorry, Mr. Flynn. Please, have mercy on me!”

Flynn didn’t even bat an eye at him. Instead, he looked at the hotel manager and said, “Tell the hotel owner 1’m firing this security guard on his behalf.”

“That’s not necessary, Mr. Flynn. You can fire whoever you sec fit.” The manager said, trying to gain favor with him.

The security guard slumped onto the floor. He had lost his job in the blink of an eye.

“I'm fine, miss. This is just some minor bleeding. I’ve survived worse wounds than this one.” Holding up his cracked bowl, he looked at her with reddened eyes.

“My grandpa’s dying, miss. His last wish is to have some nice food. Can I please have some of your leftovers?”

Turning her head sideways, she looked at the hotel manager. “Prepare several Lakeouts and give it to him. Put it on my tab.”

“Alright. I'll relay your orders to the kitchen right away.”

“T-Thank you, miss! Allow me to get down on my knees to thank you properly.” The young boy was about to knock when she pulled him up.

“You’re a man. You shouldn’t get down on your knee unless it’s an emergency.”

“Okay. Roger that, miss! I'll keep that in mind.”

Avril stepped forward and took her arms. “Let’s go back to our dinner.

The dishes are going cold.”

“Sure.”

“Buzz buzz buzz...” She was getting a phone call.

Tt was Ivor.

“Have you had dinner?”

“Pm in the middle of it. How about you?”

He was somewhat disappointed when he heard her response. “I had just finished my work and was about to invite you for dinner.”

“Oh, you’re welcome to join us. It just so happens that Avril and Flynn

are here, too. Flynn almost dropped his utensils at that. A moment later, he raised his voice and looked at her phone fearfully.

“Do you want to talk to him? Sure. I’ll pass him the phone.” She said

and handed it over to Flynn.

He looked at the phone the way he would a live grenade.

“H-Hello? Is there anything I can do for you, Ivor?”

“You seem to be quite close to her now. I keep noticing you showing up

beside her.”

‘Holy hell...’ Flynn took a sharp breath internally. Then, he had an idea

and said hastily, “I’m just worried that someone might kidnap Bonnie.

So, I'm keeping her safe on your behalf.”

“acceptable. Good work, Flynn.” Ivor nodded in approval.

He hadn’t hung up his phone for over a few seconds before Ged dashed into his office.

“Dinner tonight?”

“That’s ano. I’m going to look for her.”

Ged’s lips twitched immediately. ‘Will he give me a break? Did he have to make me fecl bad about being single when he sees me?’

“It looks like things are going well between the two of you. Come on, give me a straight answer. What have you guys been doing now?”

“We got to first base,” Ivor responded proudly.

“Uh... Damn it! Did it take you this long just to hold her hand? How long will it take before you guys get to home base?!”

Chapter 397

Ged was at a loss for words.

Then, he said, “Bonnie’s such an extraordinary lady, Ivor. There’s going to be countless guys trying to win her heart. I think there’s a good chance she has as many guys hitting on her as you do from ladies.

“She might have more people hitting on her than you do. If you keep moving at a snail's pace, someone else might win her heart. I heard that Dominick’s eldest son is relurning from overseas soon. I think you know him better than I do.

“After all, you guys used to be the closest friends back in the day.

Although he’s completely different from you in terms of character, and he’s a bit of an airhead, he likes the same thing you do.

“You guys are practically the same regarding tastes and preferences! To make matters worse, he’s exceptionally stunning and is very good at making pcople like him. What will you do if he rcturms and falls in love with her? Ivor’s hands, which were holding a ballpen, clutched it tighter instinctively.

“Bonnie doesn’t like guys like that. “You can’t be sure about that! Bonnie might’ve been a mature lady, much like you are, but what do they say about people loving their opposites? She just might have a thing for men like Thaddeus Sherman. “Crack!” Ivor snapped the ballpen in half.

Ged stopped speaking immediately. Clearing his throat, he said, “Ahem.

Well. You did spend a longer time with Bonnie, after all. You do have that in your cards. You probably stand a bigger chance of winning her heart.

“How about this? | will show you a move to help you get to home base tonight. Ivor relaxed a little when he heard it.

“What is it? “You'll seduce her. She won’t know what hit her. Ask her out for a swim tonight. If memory serves me right, you have a villa with a pool. Take her there, strip yourself naked, and throw yourself to her. Ged found his idea thrilling, but Ivor was frowning when he tumed and looked at him.

‘What's the matter? Don't you think it’s a swell idea? I think it’s the perfect plan! Pursing his lips, Ivor said, “What you said reminded me of what Bonnie told me. “What do you mean? “We've just gotten our certificates then. I told her not to intervene in my personal life or even try to seduce me. Then, she told me I could stuff it because she wouldn’t bat an eye at me even if I got naked. For a second there, Ged wasn’t sure what to say.

“This is your fault. Why do you have to be this nasty back then? Great job, Ivor. You could've won her heart with my amazing plan. “Are you forgetting something? You were ten times harsher than T was back then.” Ivor retorted and said.

Ged parted her lips. Every bad thing he said about Bonnie was flashing in his mind now. How he wished he could slap himself now.

The night rolled on.

Bonnie and Ivor arrived at his villa in a car.

‘Just what kind of a surprise did you prepare for me? Half an hour ago, Ivor took her away abruptly and said he had a surprise for her.

“You'll find out,” he said, trying to lure her in. Then, he opened the car door for her.

Bewildered, she walked into the villa.

The first thing she saw was the pool when she got inside. It was brimming with rose petals. She was at a loss for words.

“I-Is this the surprise you got for me? “I noticed you loved swimming the last time we went to the beach. So, I made some arrangements. This was all Ged's ideas.

Crouching, she reached into the pool and scooped up a handful of rose petals. “The pool is so huge. How many roses did you use for this? “Oh, it’s nothing. | bought all the roses from every florist in ten blocks. She didn’t know what to say to that.

“Come on. I prepared a swimsuit for you. Go ahead and change into it. Then, he realized she was still frozen to the spot. So, he reached out, gave her a gentle shove, and led her to the fitting room.

“Relax. I picked normal swimsuits for you. She felt helpless as she was led into the fitting room, and once she went inside, she was stunned yet again.

There were swimsuits as far as the eyes could see. There had got to be at least eight hundred pieces of swimsuits here.

Chapter 398

No one was in the pool when she got changed and came out.

‘Where’s Ivor? Is he still changing? I thought he was just putting on his swimming trunks. I’ll just dive into the pool. I can’t take the rose petals, but 1’d be lying if I said I hated flowers. If this is what he prepared for me, | might as well see how it feels so the roses won’t go to waste."

After she got into the pool, she scooped some water and rose petals and poured them on herself.

‘Woah. This is something else."

“Huh? It’s been such a long time. Why isn’t he here yet? That was when she heard a loud splash. The next moment, a head full of rose petals broke the water's surface.

Out of pure instinct, she clenched her fist and pounded it like she would a whac-a-mole.

“Argh...” The painful grunt sounded familiar.

Her eyes widened in response. However, he was already whacked back into the water and sank to the bottom by the time she knew what was happening.

“Ivor! She yelled out his name but received no response. She knew how strong her fists were. Without a moment’s delay, she took a breath and dived into the water.

He had already sunk to the bottom when she reached him.

It was a life-or-death situation. So, she did mouth-to-mouth breathing the moment she wrapped her hands around him. Then, she brought him up to the surface.

Pulling him out of the pool, she realized he was in a comatose state.

“Ivor! Wake up, Ivor! Nothing she did could rouse him from his coma. She was very panicked now. Running her hand across his head, she realized it was swollen.

‘T have to save him now. If I let this drag on for too long, he might lose his memories or become a blabbering fool, even if I managed to save him."

Reaching out, she pressed on his chest with her fingers rhythmically .

Not long after, he threw up a mouthful of pool water and came to.

She sighed in relief and asked, “How are you feeling? “Cough cough... He coughed a little and sat up.

She saw it and immediately helped him up. “Why aren’t you responding to me? How do you feel? The next moment, she realized he looked at her as if he didn’t recognize her.

Her heart skipped a beat.

“Are you... “Who are you? As soon as he said it, she was dumbfounded. Then, she scanned him from head to toe. ‘Did he lose his memory for real?"

“Do you not remember me? Raising his hand, he rubbed his forehead. Then, his brows knitted tightly. He looked like someone doing his best to recall his memories but couldn’t.

“Take it easy. I think you lost your memories as a result of a blunt force, but it’s just temporary. You’ll get them back in a few days.” She would take him to the hospital and do a full scan.

‘After all, this is his brain we’re talking about here. 1 couldn’t check it just by looking at it. Pll need the equipment in the hospital."

“Okay.” He nodded slightly.

“Here. Let me help you get back to your room.” She guided him back.

Not long after, she was tucking him into bed. “Get some sleep. ‘Man, I feel so guilty. However, I'm not the only one to be blamed here.

I thought a thug snuck into the place and was about to sneak up on me."

She was in her thoughts when Ivor suddenly pulled her to the bed. The next thing she knew, he had her pinned beneath him.

Chapter 399

At the next moment, Bonnie’s eyes widened with rage.

She asked coldly, “Are you tricking me? Ivor panicked when he saw her reaction.

“I was just trying to spook you. Bonnie huffed and balled her fists. After a couple of seconds of silence, she shoved him aside aggressively. “I can’t stand it when people lie to my face.

“I'm sorry. I was just—"

“That’s enough. I don’t want to hear it. Do you think it’s funny trying to play me for a fool? Well, I think it’s childish! Slipping out of bed, she straightened up her swimsuit and left without glancing at him.

“Bonnie!” He panted lightly, took off after her, and held her waist.

“1 know I’m childish. I shouldn’t have resorted to getting your love and concer this way. Now that | think about it, I realize it’s childish and something I’d never have done normally. I’ve no idea why I did something like this. Perhaps being in love does mean acting like a fool. “Let me go.”

She said with a blank expression.

Instead of doing what she said, he wrapped his arms around her waist tighter.

“I would’ve been pissed off if I were you too. After all, I shouldn’t toy with something like this. Isn’t it true that what matters is that we learn from our mistakes? Please forgive me, Bonnie. Give me one more chance. I swear, I won’t do something like this ever again. However, she was pissed off right now. So, all she wanted was some privacy and silence.

“I won’t repeat myself. Let me go. Otherwise, you won’t see me again. It felt as if someone had stabbed him in the heart, and the blood in his veins was frozen. Even his breaths grew weakcr.

‘Is this how it feels to break up with the lady you love?"

“1’m going to count to three. One! He let go of her immediately, not willing to risk it.

Then, she left the villa without so much as a glance at him. He watched as she went and couldn't help but feel disheartened.

“Buzz buzz buzz...” Ged was calling him.

Ged hit him with a barrage of questions when he answered the phone.

“How did it go, Ivor? Did you manage to win her heart? Hahaha! I know I’m right! If you want to win a lady’s heart, you’ll have to sleep with her. She'll give it to you after that. You don’t even have to ask.

“Don’t you think you owe me a big one? How about some reward for your matchmaker? He said a lot. Then, he realized Ivor was eerily quiet.

“Ivor? Why aren’t you saying anything?

“Hello? Can you hear me?

“Ivor... “She broke up with me.” It was a brief response , but it was enough to silence Ged.

He didn’t find his voice until after a long time. “Break up? Are you sure that’s the right word? You guys weren’t even a couple in the first place. He intended it as a joke to liven up the conversation. The next thing he knew, he felt Ivor’s signature coldness through the phone.

“Ahem! ‘That was just a joke. Let’s get serious now. What on earth happened? Did you do everything like I said? It should've worked. How did it backfire on you? Ivor took a deep breath. His face was grim, and his eyes were filled with misery.

“Stay put. I'll be there in a minute.” Ged hung up the phone and rushed over to his friend’s side.

Chapter 400

“So, that’s the whole story. “Uh... It took Ged a long time to process everything Ivor told him.

“All I can say is that Bonnie is a tough lady. She knows what she wants and won’t compromise her vision and settle for anything less. Frankly, you're one lucky bastard if you manage to marry her. No, I take it back!

You'll be the luckiest bastard alive if you end up marrying her. “That’s a given.” He gave Ged a sidelong glance. “I know better than you just how precious she is. “There's no necd to wallow in sadness or despair. If you look at it from another angle, it's a good thing.” Ged said analytically.

“What do you mean? “Can't you figure out something this simple? They say we do foolish things when we’re in love, bul why do I get the feeling that you've become a fool yourself?

“Bonnie is this mad at you because she cares a lot about you! Think about it. If someone she deemed worthless threw a fit in front of her, she would've remained indifferent and ignored that person, which, in turn, drives the person crazy. Ivor nodded in approval.

“Keep going. “

Here’s a question for you. Have you seen Bonnie this mad in your life? He pondered on the question for a couple of seconds.

Then, his eyes sparkled. He sounded jovial when he spoke. “Are you trying to say that she loves me?

“I won’t say that it’s necessarily love. She has feelings for you, at most.”

Ged said truthfully.

At the next moment, Ivor glared at him.

“Don’t give me that look! I’m telling you the truth. You need a dose of reality right now. Judging by your current situation , you should leave her alone for a couple of days. Give her some peace. Frowning, he asked, “A couple of days? Are you trying to kill me? Ged remained quiet. ‘That decides it. Ivor is smitten."

“It’s up to you, I guess. By all means, pester her as you will. That'll end things between the two of you immediately. Ivor fell silent at once.

Bonnie went back to her villa and lay on the bed. She tossed and turned, but she just couldn’t fall asleep. She couldn’t explain it, but she was still angry until] this moment.

She had never been like this.

Then, she got to thinking about Ivor’s swollen head. He might’ve pretended to have lost his memories, but she did pound him very hard in the pool.

She was kept awake until three in the morning before she finally fell asleep.

She fully intended to sleep in the next day. Little did she know that she’d receive a call early in the morning.

It was Welma on the other end of the phone. So, she shoved her frustration deep down before she said, “Hello? What is it, Mom? “Are you still sleeping? Didn’t you usually wake up early? Did you pull an all-nighter yesterday?” Welma asked concerningly.

“Yeah. I stayed up quite late last night. “T know you’re young, but you can’t pull an all-nighter like that! Oh, I know. Did you hang out with Ivor last night? Is that why you stayed up so late? Bonnie couldn’t help but frown when she heard his name.

“Hello? Are you still there? Bonnie? “Oh, uh... Is there any reason you're calling me Mom?” She came back to her senses and changed the topic immediately.

“Oh! It’s about your aunt, who lives in Pyralis. She insisted on recommending a hotel owner to you. “Is she setting up a blind date for me?” She was surprised a little.

“Exactly! I told her that you’ ve got a boyfriend, but she wouldn’t believe me. She even said that this sort of excuse was overused and tired.

“She told me thal the hotel owner was young but accomplished. He managed to run a successful coffee shop at twenty-eight. “Just tum it down, Mom.” She rubbed the side of her head. She needed to catch some sleep now.

“I tried, but I think you know how that aunt of yours is. She's not going to believe you’re in a couple unless she sees how lovey-dovey you and Ivor are with her own eyes.

“Here’s an idea. How about you and Ivor show up together to the blind date? That's going To solve our dilemma!”
