Ch. 401..410

Chapter 401

Bonnie remained silent. She might have asked Ivor to go with her if last night did not happen. However, she could no longer do that.

“That settles it. You’ll have a blind date at Zephyr Cafe this Sunday. I need to hang up now. The fields won’t plow themselves.” With that, Welma hung up.

Bonnie looked at her phone. She was unsure when Ivor did it, but he had set his picture as her wallpaper. She fiddled with her phone and changed it back to a random image. Then, she pulled her blanket over her head and prepared to return to sleep.

Buzz, buzz, buzz!

Bonnie’s phone vibrated, and she grew annoyed, wondering who was calling this time.

“Hello?!”

“Are you still sleeping, Bonwick?”

“It’s still so early in the morning, Orpheus. What do you want?”

“It’s about Nancy.”

The mention of Nancy’s name made her open her eyes immediately. “What about her?”

“She’s missing. She usually arrives at the film set earlier than anyone, but we haven’t seen her since last night’s shooting. We can’t even get her on the phone. Since you’re a good friend of hers, I called you to ask if you know what’s happening.”

“She didn’t call me, either.” Bonnie’s brows furrowed, and then her eyes widened. “Did she go home?”

“Home? What do you mean?” Orpheus had no idea what Bonnie was talking about.

“I mean her old home. The Church family’s house.”

“Oh, that house. I’ll see if I can find anything out.”

“Maybe I should do it,” Bonnie said solemnly.

He was stunned. “Huh? I can do it. After all, I can pull some strings using the Knight family’s name.”

“The Knights might be powerful and influential, but I work faster than you guys regarding investigations,” she said confidently.

He was stunned yet again. ‘Bonnie can work faster than the Knights? Is she for real?’

She hung up the phone and called Jim immediately. Then, she told him to track down Nancy’s whereabouts at once. It did not take him long to pinpoint Nancy’s location. “You’re right, Bonnie. Nancy’s at her family’s house now. They locked her in there.”

“They locked her up?” Bonnie’s expression was stern, and her tone was cold.

“The Churches are trying to marry her to a sixty-year-old man to secure a collaboration.”

Bonnie tightened her grip on her phone as Jim said, “I’ll take some men with me and get her out of there.”

“I’ll do it myself.”

“But—”

“Nancy’s one of my best friends,” Bonnie said firmly.

“All right. I’ll standby in the vicinity.”

“Perfect.” Immediately after, Bonnie hung up and headed to the Church family’s house.

Chapter 402

Nancy was teary-eyed as she remained tied to the bed’s headboard. She said, “Let me go, Shiloh! How dare you tie me up!”

Shiloh sat on the sidelines and enjoyed some snacks while holding a whip. She retorted, “Sis, just be a good girl and marry Kael. Otherwise, you’ll know how it feels to get whipped.”

Nancy looked at Shiloh’s hands and noticed they were covered with hangnails. The former said, “I can’t believe you’re using such methods. Aren’t you worried the cops will come after you?”

“Hmph, how absurd. You’re in my house, and there aren’t any cameras in my room. No one will know if I whip you,” Shiloh said, unfazed.

“Your house, huh?” Nancy paled and smiled weakly. “Who do you think you are? I’m the one who was born into this family. You took everything from me, including my status. What more do you want?

“Answer me! You guys kicked me out of my rightful family. What will it take for you to stop?! Do you want me to die before you do?!” Nancy roared from the bottom of her soul, tears streaming down her cheeks. Her eyes were full of despair.

“Don’t worry, Nancy. I won’t kill you. If I did, I’d have to be responsible for it. Getting your pathetic blood on my hands isn’t worth it. All you have to do is marry Kael.”

“Over my dead body! I’ll never be you or your mother’s pawn. You’re better off killing me, Shiloh!”

“Hmph, you’re dreaming if you think I’ll let you off that easily.” Shiloh cracked her whip.

“Gah!” Nancy trembled all over.

“Trying to act tough, are we? I won’t stop whipping you until you agree to marry Kael.” Shiloh whipped her stepsister again.

Nancy bore the pain and raised her gaze at Shiloh. The former scoffed, saying, “Do you think I’m afraid of you? Bring it on!”

“I’ll be happy to, tough guy!” She struck Nancy with the whip yet again.

Suddenly, someone kicked down the door.

Bang!

“Who’s there?!” Shiloh turned around and looked behind her.

Nancy was in disbelief when she saw Bonnie at the door. “B-Bonnie, is that you?!”

Shiloh thought the name sounded somewhat familiar. After profound thought, she said, “So, you’re the good-for-nothing that the Shepards disowned. You and Nancy share similar fates. I guess it makes sense. After all, you worthless punks must’ve banded together because no one likes either one of you!”

Bonnie walked past the laughing Shiloh and went to Nancy before freeing her. Nancy was worried about bringing Bonnie into her mess, asking, “Bonnie, what are you doing here.”

“How can I leave one of my best friends alone to suffer?”

“I know that, but you’re in the heart of the Templeton Villa. Shiloh is ruthless, too. You should run while you can, Bonnie!”

Shiloh stood in the duo’s way and said, “It’s too late now.”

Nancy grew apprehensive about Bonnie’s position. “Bonnie has nothing to do with this, Shiloh! Are you going to lock her up, too?”

Shiloh retorted, “She’s the one who entered the belly of the beast herself. Also, she knows I whipped you. I might go to jail if she escapes and tells the cops about it. Do I look like an idiot to you? Of course, I won’t let her go!”

Bonnie glared at Shiloh and said, “If you know your actions are illegal, why are you doing it?”

“You should see the mess you’ve involved yourself in, Bonnie. Instead of begging for mercy, you’re trying to be a hero, not to mention how you ignored me earlier. I’m going to whip you, too!” Shiloh suddenly cracked her whip at Bonnie’s face.

“Bonnie, watch out!” Nancy yelled frantically. She wanted to shield Bonnie from the whip but was too exhausted to move.

Meanwhile, Bonnie remained rooted, fooling the duo into thinking she froze with fear. As the whip was about to hit her, she caught it.

Shiloh’s eyes widened with surprise. “Let it go, now!”

Bonnie yanked the whip away from Shiloh so hard that the latter stumbled forward and fell heavily.

Chapter 403

Shiloh shrieked in pain and fear as her face began to bleed. She glared at Bonnie as if she was about to skin her alive. “Damn you, Bonnie! I’ll show you the meaning of agony!”

Bonnie brandished the whip, saying, “I have the whip now. I’ll throw your words back at you – instead of begging for mercy, you’re acting like a hero. It seems I have to remind you of your position with some lashes.”

‘You wouldn’t dare! I’m a member of a prominent family, while you’re a nobody without a family. You’ll pay if you lay even a finger on me!”

Crack!

Bonnie whipped Shiloh, causing the latter to let out a blood–curdling scream. Bonnie had hit Shiloh far harder than when Shiloh whipped Bonnie. Shiloh could only roll on the floor and curse, “You’ll pay for this, Bonnie! I’ll—”

Whip! Crack, crack! Whoosh!

Bonnie lashed at Shiloh relentlessly, and the last one hit Shiloh’s face. The latter covered her burning face. She knew her face would bear a scar for life. “Fuck you, Bonnie!”

“As far as I can tell, you aimed for my face earlier, too. I’m just giving you a taste of your own medicine. That’s enough of your crap. Now, back to whipping.” Bonnie continued to lash at Shiloh.

Suddenly, a group of bodyguards in black suits barged in and surrounded them. Shiloh screamed when a middle–aged couple emerged from the group, “Mom, Dad, save me!”

“Shiloh!” Julia hastened over and held her daughter. “My poor baby! Who did this to you?!”

“It was her, Mom! That’s Bonnie! She’s the one who did this to me! You must punish her for me. I want her to regret messing with me!” Shiloh roared resentfully.

Julia’s eyes were bloodshot as she glared at Bonnie. “How dare you hurt my daughter?! You’ll pay for this!”

Shiloh’s father, Josiah, gestured at the bodyguards and ordered, “Seize her, now!”

“Right away, sir!” The bodyguards looked at Bonnie viciously and raised their fists before charging at her.

Nancy grew anxious and shouted, “Bonnie, run! Forget about me and leave, now!”

“Don’t worry. I have everything under control.” Bonnie glanced at Nancy comfortingly.

212

However, her eyes turned cold when she shifted her gaze to the bodyguards. Bonnie loosened her fists and dashed at them.

She did not hold any punches. All her strikes were precise and drew blood. Her fury was evident at that moment.

“Gah!”

“Ugh!”

Screams filled the room, and everyone was dumbfounded at what they witnessed. Although Bonnie was petite, she possessed tremendous strength. Whenever she landed a punch, she

would break their noses or other bones.

Soon after, the bodyguards lay on the floor. Nancy was thrilled and relieved, thinking, ‘

Bonnie’s such a badass!‘

Bonnie looked at Nancy and said, “Let’s go.”

Suddenly, Josiah pulled out a pistol and pointed it at the back of Bonnie’s head. Nancy gasped and paled at that moment.

Chapter 404

Bonnie remained unfazed as she glanced sideways.

“You’re a fierce fighter,” Josiah praised her wholeheartedly. “Still, your fighting skills are nothing against my gun. Now, be a good girl and get down on your knees. Don’t make me shoot you.”

Suddenly, he heard an imposing voice at the door, “Do it if you dare!”

Josiah whipped around and saw Jim. The former was so terrified that he almost tossed his pistol aside. “Y–You’re Master Jim!”

Even Julia and Shiloh paled, wondering about Jim’s sudden appearance. On the other hand, Nancy guessed what was happening and looked at Bonnie, asking, “Is Master Jim here to help us?”

Bonnie nodded. “Yeah, he’s a friend of mine.”

‘I can’t believe it! Bonnie just said Master Jim is her friend!‘

Everyone was stunned when they heard that. Meanwhile, Jim strode toward Josiah and said, “What’s the matter? Are you still refusing to let your pistol go?”

“I–It was all a misunderstanding, sir!” Jasiah hastily tossed his pistol aside.

Jim squinted at him and then approached Bonnie, looking at her from head to toe and asking, “Are you okay? Did they hurt you?”

Bonnie shook her head. “They don’t have what it takes to hurt me.”

“Are you sure you’re alright?” he asked worriedly.

“Positive.”

“Don’t try to trick me, Bonnie. You got hurt during the race and kept it from me. That’s why you ended up in the hospital, remember? It’s my job to keep you safe, and I can’t botch it. I’m taking you to the hospital for a full checkup now,” Jim spoke firmly, suggesting he

would not take no for an answer.

However, his words confused the others. They did not know what he meant when he said it

was his job to keep Bonnie safe. The family wondered about Bonnie and Jim’s relationship.

“Fine, I’ll visit the hospital later. Are you satisfied now?” Bonnie knew how stubborn Jim could be. She had to do as he said because of what happened after the racing incident.

Otherwise, she would never hear the end of it.

Jim asked, “How do you want to deal with the Church family? Should I take Jostal downtown?”

Cold sweat dripped down josiah’s cheek as fimm added, “Do you want me to deport them?”

shiloh and Julia were so shocked that they trembled all over. They could not understand what was happening.

“What did we do to get thrown out of the country? We just crossed a country bumpkin, yet Master Jim is acting as if we offended God.‘

Bonnie turned and said, “I’ll let Nancy decide since it’s her family. So, what do you want to do?”

Nancy pursed her lips and glanced at her father, she was heartbroken and disappointed as she said, “I’ve cut all ties with my family. I’m ready to move past it if they promise never to harass me again,”

Although she said that, Josiah remained ungrateful to her. On the contrary, he hated her

even more.

‘I wouldn’t suffered such humiliation if I hadn’t conceived such an ungrateful daughter. I won’t forgive Bonnie, either! I don’t care how close she is to Jim, but she almost destroyed my entire family. This is far from over!‘

“All right, we’ll do as you say.” Bonnie nodded at Nancy. The former could relate to her friend’s decision. Even though Nancy used to be a family member, it would benefit her to cut ties with them thoroughly after what happened today.

“Let’s leave.”

“Okay,”

Shiloh started throwing a fit as soon as Bonnie and her gang left. “Are you going to let them go?! Have you seen what Bonnie did to me, Dad?”

Chapter 405

Julia agreed with her daughter, “Shiloh’s right. We can’t just let them go. Also, something’s bothering me. What is Bonnie and Jim’s relationship? Why would he stick his neck out for her like that?”

Josiah said firmly, “The only thing I know is that they’re not a couple.”

“What makes you so sure?”

“I have business relations with the Shepards, and I overheard them saying Bonnie has a sugar daddy. He’s an old man, too.”

“I heard about that, too, but I can’t believe it’s true. Damn it!” Julia roared, “She’s nothing but a despicable homewrecker! How dare she act so cocky in our territory! Honey, why don’t

we hire some henchmen to kill her?

“That way, Master Jim can’t track it back to us. Even if he does suspect us, he won’t have evidence to prove it. I doubt he’ll come after us for a dead woman.”

“That’s a splendid idea! Let’s do it!”

Bonnie sent Nancy to the hospital before going home. Bonnie looked at her phone and realized Ivor had yet to text or call her. She thought it was funny since he constantly contacted her so much that she sometimes ignored him.

However, she found herself missing his constant texts a little.

In the blink of an eye, it was the day of Bonnie’s blind date. She put on the first outfit she found and went to Zephyr Cafe. Meanwhile, her aunt, Laurent Shepard, chatted with a young man and his mother.

The middle–aged woman, Aya, had prominent cheekbones and delicate lips. She had on smokey makeup, too. She asked, “What did you say her name was again? Was it Bonnie?”

“That’s right. My niece is gorgeous. She’s the prettiest girl in the countryside.”

The young man, Tatum, pursed his lips and said, “I must say, the bar is pretty low if she comes from the countryside. I don’t think anyone from there is pretty. Most have to do farm work under the sun. That means tanned skin and calluses, not to mention brawny arms.”

“Oh, please, Tatum. I thought I showed you pictures of her. You said she looked cute.”

“Although she looked cute in the pictures, she could’ve edited them. Such software is magical these days. People can even swap faces,” Tatum raised his chin and added, “My point is, I’ll leave if she isn’t pretty.

“My family’s wealthy, and I’m handsome. Why would I settle for someone who isn’t attractive? After all, I can get any woman I want. I only agreed to this blind date because of

Mom. I wouldn’t have come if you two weren’t college friends.”

you,

“Well, I—” Laurent felt embarrassed when she suddenly saw Bonnie. “There she is!”

Tatum looked toward the door halfheartedly. A moment later, his eyes sparkled, and he instinctively stood up to stare at her.

Meanwhile, Lauren felt proud and triumphant when she saw his reaction.

‘He just complained about how unattractive Bonnie could be. Look at him now.‘ “Hello, everyone,” Bonnie greeted Aya and Tatum courteously.

Chapter 406

“What a beauty,” Tanum said as he pulled out a chair for Bonnie, “Have a seat. Would you like something to drink? It’s pretty hot outside, huh? Do you want my seat instead? The air conditioner is right above it.”

“Ahem!” Aya cleared her throat and glanced at her son sidelong.

‘Jeez, Tanum wouldn’t help me with anything even if I asked. Look at him now. He’s already showering Bonnie with care. They’re not even married yet. Who’s to say she won’t disrespect me once they get married?‘

“Can I directly address you by your first name?”

Bonnie nodded. “Of course you can.

“Let’s not waste precious time and cut to the chase. You consider yourself lucky since my son likes you this much,” Aya said arrogantly.

Bonnie’s brow twitched a little as she looked at Lauren.

Lauren chuckled awkwardly. “That’s not the right way to put it, Aya.”

“What’s wrong with what I said? We own this cafe, and Tanum will inherit it. Do you know how much we make monthly? We rake in hundreds of thousands of dollars if you remove the

overhead cost.”

Lauren was so envious that she could just cry.

‘Aya earns hundreds of thousands monthly! My family only managed to get that much after working our butts off for decades. We still spend our money very carefully.‘

With that in mind, Lauren took a different approach and held Bonnie’s hands.

“Bonnie, we’re countryfolk who don’t have a surefire way to succeed. You only get an opportunity like this because you’re pretty. Once you marry Tanum, you must love your inlaws like your own and listen to everything Tanum says.”

Bonnie frowned and retorted, “I don’t intend on marrying him, Aunt Lauren.”

Aya was displeased, saying, “Are you worried we won’t give you a handsome wedding gift, or if the wedding won’t be luxurious enough? You don’t have to worry about such things. We’re loaded, after all. We’ll host the grandest wedding ceremony you’ve ever seen.

“We’ll give you what you want, but you can’t afford to be lazy once you marry into my family. You’ll wake up before five every morning and prepare breakfast for everyone. Oh,

that includes lunch and dinner.

“If there’s one thing good about us, we treat our daughters–in–law fairly and justly. That’s why you won’t need a job. All you have to do is be a housewife. Don’t forget to clean the garden and porch.

“We also have a vegetable patch in the backyard but never had time to plant anything. Since you’re a country girl, you’ll come in handy.”

Bonnie chuckled. “May I know how much you plan to pay me monthly?”

“What? Pay?” Aya grew exasperated. “Like I said, you won’t need a job. You’ll be eating our food, too. Are you seriously asking for wages?”

Bonnie retorted, “You intend on pushing me around and asking me to be a chef, servant, and gardener. Don’t forget that you even want me to manage your vegetable patch. So, I’ll be doing all that for free meals?

“Were you serious about not paying me? If that’s true, Your Highness, I don’t think anyone would want to marry your son.”

“How dare you speak to me that way? Also, what did you mean by that last part? I expect those things from you if you’re going to be my daughter–in–law! You’re obligated to do those things!” Aya was furious.

‘I’ve never seen anyone as shameless as her! She has a chance to marry into a wealthy family like mine, yet she dared to ask me to pay her for doing the chores!‘

Bonnie’s eyes were full of mockery as she said, “Honestly, I’m getting paid quite handsomely already. You can even say financial freedom is within my grasp. So, I don’t have to be your servant. Perhaps you should find someone else.”

As she got up to leave, Tanum hastily stopped her and said, “Come on, Bonnie! Don’t leave! Mom, what the hell are you doing? You don’t have to make her do so many things. You’re scaring her off.”

Aya was enraged when her son defended Bonnie.

Chapter 407

“What else will she do after marrying into our family? I won’t just take in a freeloader.”

“Mom, I love her and refuse to marry anyone else!” Tanum roared.

Meanwhile, Ivor stared at his documents in his office, unable to stop thinking about Bonnie.

Ged said, “You’ve been staring at that document for over an hour. I know what you’re thinking, but please take my advice. You must be patient if you want things to go smoothly between you and Bonnie.”

Ivor put down the document and said, “I haven’t texted or called her for several days, but it

feels like centuries.”

At that moment, a panicked Floyd knocked on the door and entered. “I just got a call from Mr. Flynn. He told me Ms. Bonnie has just-”

Before he could finish, Ged said, “Hush! Don’t say anything about Bonnie. Ivor can’t afford to listen to anything about her now.”

“B–But-”

“Nope! You’ll ruin my plans if you continue. Then, you’ll ruin Ivor’s one shot at a lifetime of happiness.” Ged shoved Floyd out of the office.

“Um-”

“I said quiet!”

“Wait a minute-”

“Get out!”

Floyd’s eyes widened when he realized Ged was pushing him out of the office. The former grabbed the door and yelled, “Mr. Ivor! Ms. Bonnie is on a blind date!”

Ivor bolted from his seat while Ged stopped pushing Floyd. Ged said embarrassedly, “Ahem. That’s vital news. Why didn’t you say that earlier?”

Floyd glanced at Ged sidelong while the latter feigned ignorance.

Ivor pursed his lips and asked coldly, “What happened?”

Floyd could not afford to waste time on Ged and quickly explained, “Mr. Flynn called me

earlier. He went to Zephyr Cafe and saw Ms. Bonnie on a blind date with the owner’s son. He said they sounded like they were talking about getting married.”

“What?! Did Bonnie agree to marry the guy?!” Ivor’s demeanor sent shivers down Ged and Floyd’s spines.

Floyd gulped and added, “That’s what Mr. Flynn told me. He saw Bonnie and the guy smiling, which indicated that the blind date was going well. Also, he said the guy had proclaimed his love for Ms. Bonnie.”

After a moment of deadly silence, Ivor left the office, not bothering to take his jacket.

Floyd thought about the upcoming appointment and shouted after his boss, “Mr. Ivor! The CEO of Zenith Innovations is on his way. You’re supposed to handle collaboration details collaboration.”

Ivor continued walking as he said, “You can handle it.”

“Huh? Are you sure? I’m just an assistant. I don’t think he will be too pleased about it,” Floyd said miserably.

“Then, let Ged handle it. You’ll back him up.” With that, Ivor disappeared around the corner.

Floyd looked at Ged, who smacked himself on the forehead, saying, “I think I owe him one. After all, I told him to follow my plan. Fine, I’ll do it.”

Chapter 408

an graduate from college and will still work for someone. How much can she earn? She should quit college and marry my son as soon as possible. We’ll provide

your niece with food and housing.”

“Wait a minute. Laura said. The more Ayd Yard, the more Lauren felt something was amiss.

Bonnie chuckled and said, “They’re such lovely people, Aunt Lauren. Don’t you have a daughter? Perhaps you should introduce her to Tanum. I don’t want to involve myself with them. After all, I have a boyfriend-

I mean, fiance.”

She said fiance because it was more convincing than a boyfriend

Aya raised her voice and pried, “Wait, why do you have a fiance? What is the meaning of this, Lauren ?!”

“She’s making it up. Her mom told me about it. Young people just love using such tactics to turn down blind dates. When Lauren said that, Aya and Tanum seemed relieved.

Bonnie stood up and exclaimed, “Why don’t you belleve I’m engaged?

Laurent pulled Bonnie down and said, “Stop It. You don’t have a fiance. Sit down so we can talk this out

Birtido have a tender Bonnie retorted.

Chapte 409

“Fine, I’ll play along. Where is your fiance, then? I want to see him now!”

A moment later, a charming voice sounded, “I’m sorry I’m late, Bonnie.”

Thump, thump!

Bonnie’s heart raced. The voice and scent were familiar, causing something to arise within her. However, she could not explain what it was. As she slowly turned toward the voice, his handsome face appeared.

‘It’s been a while, Bonnie thought.

Suddenly, an off–putting voice ruined the moment, “I–Is he your fiance, Bonnie?”

Before she could answer, Ivor held her waist and said, “That’s right. We’re engaged.”

Bonnie’s eye twitched as she thought, ‘I guess he technically isn’t lying. He’s pretty good with words.”

“You’re staging this whole thing! How could you do such a thing, Bonnie? How much did you pay him to

come here?! Tell me the truth!”

Chapter 409

From Lauren’s perspective, young people liked throwing money at problems and fooling their parents.

Flynn chuckled as he approached and said, “Did you just say Bonnie hired him? Do you even know who he is? No amount of money can make him show up unless he wants to be here.”

Aya bolted from her seat and stammered, “M–Mr. Flynn! H–How long have you been there?”

Unlike Ivor, Flynn disliked keeping a low profile. The latter enjoyed flaunting his status as a Knight family member. Moreover, Flynn was a regular at the cafe, and Aya naturally knew who he was.

“I’ve been here since the blind date started. Just so you know, Ivor is my cousin, and Bonnie’s his fiancee.” Flynn purposely glanced at Bonnie as he spoke.

Aya was shocked, thinking, “That means the man sitting beside Bonnie is the CEO of the Knight Group!”

Meanwhile, Lauren was clueless about what was happening. She pointed at Flynn and asked, “Aya, who is

he?”

“H–He’s Gunnar Knight’s son–Flynn Knight.” Aya was still trying to process this huge revelation.

Even Lauren was dumbfounded as she gawked at Flynn. Then, something occurred to her, and she looked at Bonnie and Ivor. A moment later, she regained her thoughts and said, “B–Bonnie, is he the head of the

Knight family?”

Since the situation had escalated to this point, hiding things was useless. Hence, Bonnie nodded and

said, “Yeah, that’s right.”

Lauren gasped and slumped into her seat as she pinched herself to see if she was dreaming.

She thought, ‘I never thought Bonnie would be the fiancee to the wealthiest man in all of Pyralis! She has elevated herself to an entirely different level now. I’ll have to butter Welma up when I return to the

countryside!”

Ivor looked at Bonnie affectionately and said, we should get going.”

“Okay.” Bonnie nodded.

Suddenly, Tatum yelled, “Wait a minute!”

Bonnie turned and asked, “What is it?”

“1–I would like to…” He wanted to fight for her however he could.

‘I’ve never seen anyone as beautiful and elegant as Bonnie. It will be my biggest regret if I miss out on her today‘

He gritted his teeth and decided to confess his love to her, “I love-”

As he uttered those two words, Ivor glared at him. Tanum continued, “I–I love the idea that you’ll have adorable babies together.”

Tanum burst into tears as he thought, ‘Mom, I know I’m a coward, but it’s not my fault! That man is too scary, and I think he might kill me if I confess my love to Bonnie in his presence!*

Soon after, Ivor, Bonnie, and Flynn left and went to their car. Flynn could not help but laugh, saying, Hahaha! I bet Tanum wanted to confess his love for you, Bonnie. That was hilarious!”

“Ivor’s such a badass. He only needed to glare at Tanum to scare him.”

Meanwhile, Ivor did not care about Tanum. Bonnie was the only thing Ivor cared about. Even so, he did not know what to say as he stared at her. He feared she would tell him to shut up as soon as he opened

his mouth.

Bonnie and Ivor’s silence made Flynn feel suffocated as they sat in the car. Flynn, who offered to drive earlier, regretted his decision. A moment later, Bonnie looked at Ivor’s head and asked, “Has the swelling

lessened?”

Finally, someone broke the silence. Moreover, Bonnie took the initiative, which made Ivor feel joyful. He

said, “I don’t think so.”

“Here, let me take a look.”

Chapter 410

1.1.2

“Sure.” Ivor leaned toward Bonnie and lowered his head to let her see it better. Although it startled her a little, she felt that inexplicable feeling again. She could do nothing to get rid of it, either.

Bonnie felt cround his head and found the swelling in less than a second. She asked, “Why didn’t it go away? Didn’t you apply any ointment?”

“It was a memento you left me, and I didn’t want to use anything to make it go away.”

“You must have a screw loose or something.” Bonnie rolled her eyes at him,

“Not really! Something is wrong with my head, and it’s pretty severe. It’s worsened over the past few days because of your absence. I couldn’t eat or sleep, so I drowned myself in work. Still, I couldn’t stop

thinking about you.

“Since you’re the miracle doctor, what do you think is wrong with me?” Ivor stared at Bonnie with so much affection that they seemed to have enveloped her.

Bonnie could tell Ivor only had eyes for her. Her reflection in his eyes was so apparent that she thought he had burned her appearance into his soul. Bonnie had always been calm and collected, but she could not

help but feel her heart stir.

It took her a long while to return to her senses before she finally said, “That sounds serious. I’ll take you to the hospital and get you checked.”

“Okay.”

I’ll massage your head for now.”

“Sure, thanks.” Ivor leaned closer to make her job more manageable. Simultaneously, it gave him an

excuse to get even closer to her.

Flynn looked at the rearview mirror. He could not explain it, but Ivor looked like a little puppy, making

Flynn envious. “Ivor, you two can do that ey dovey nonsense when you’re home. Please don’t do that

‘while I’m around.”

Ivor squinted at him and asked, “What are you doing here again?”

Flynn felt speechless. Who else is going to drive you home, genius?”

“Has he been here the whole time?” Bonnie asked. Evidently, she did not notice Flynn, either.

The latter did not know what else to say.

I see how it is. I’m just a third–wheeler.”

“It’s okay, you two. We’ll pretend we’re in a smart car that drives itself.” Flynn realized the duo was not listening to him at all.

Bonnie asked Ivor, “Does it hurt when I do this?”

Chapte 410

It hurts a little. Be gentle, Bonnie.”

“Okay.”

Flynn wanted nothing more to do with them. Suddenly, he had an idea and smirked as he turned the steering wheel.

Screech!

Due to the force, Bonnie fell into Ivor’s embrace. The latter noticed it and held her tightly as Flynn said, Damn! I think I saw a wild cat or something in front of the car. Thank goodness I’m an excellent driver! Otherwise, I might’ve hit that thing.”

Flynn looked back and saw how tightly Ivor held Bonnie.

“Hehe, I’ll ask him for a big reward when they get married.”

“Watch it!” Ivor barked and then looked in the rearview mirror, nodding in approval. At that moment, Bonnie could feel Ivor holding the back of her head. He pressed her head against his chest so firmly that she could feel his heartbeat.

“You can let go of me now.”

“Oh, right,” Ivor responded but remained motionless.

“I can’t breathe if you keep holding me like this,” Bonnie said, exasperated.

Ivor could only let her go, but he did it longingly.

Screech!

The car swerved fiercely again.
