Chapter 51
Selena POV:
I feel a hand drawing circles on my back and try to figure out where I am. My memory is in a fog!
Kian’s scent is all around me and I open my eyes and see I’m in my room and laying on his chest.
Tingles play on my skin and I feel different! Stronger and at the same time I want to taste his body, feel every bit of his body under my hands. A wave of arousal courses through my body and I have to shut my legs close to each other.

I am an alpha with my own pack and we have a lot of rogue activity here can you please send some help?!” I spit at him and toss the blanket off me before I get out of bed.
Looking down at me I feel dirty and need to take a shower.
“You know there are laws you need to follow as a pack!” He barks at me and I turn around and look at him. The tension in the room starts to rise!
“And I have been following every law there is! It’s not my problem you swallowed my bait” I bark back at him. I see him thinking for a moment before he figures out what I mean. He pinches the bridge of his nose before he gets up and stalks closer to me. I stand my ground and wait for his wrath. He stops walking right in front of me, his naked body on display for me to take in and I can’t stop ogling him. I hear him clear his throat and I snap my head up to look at him only to be met by his stern gaze. Shaking my head I need to get a grip. Don’t understand why he is affecting me this way now.
“Smart move!” He says and grips my chin in a hard grip.
“But it was stupid to run after the rogues just the three of you! Almost got yourself killed!” He says and leans his face closer to mine. Anger boil in my body from his words. We had it all covered if they just had stayed in place like they were told to do!
“We wouldn’t be having any problem since we have our scent masked if it wasn’t for you and your men who can’t listen to someone else orders!” I scream at him and the tension between us lies heavy in the room. None of us is ready to give up. He looks intense at me but doesn’t say anything.
Pushing his hand away from me I start walking over to my bathroom. I hear him come after me!
“Come back here! I’m not done with you” I hear him say but ignore him completely. I’ve had enough of his shit for one day! Opening my door to my bathroom I get inside when he comes right behind me.
“You should have told me what’s going on in the first place, instead of just running after them!” He says and grip for my arm and I snap it out of his grip.
Take off the shirt and toss it on the floor before stepping inside my shower and turning the water on. I don’t care if the water is cold at first, I’m angry and if I don’t calm down there is no say what will happen.
I hear the shower door open and Kian comes inside when I am washing my body.
“Now you listen to me!” He barks at me and turns me around so I’m facing him. I take two steps back to get some distance between us.
“What you did was reckless and stupid!” He keeps shouting at me and now I’m about to boil over with anger! I have been running this pack for year1 s and we are doing fine without him coming here and telling me how to do it!
“I have a pack to protect! Everything is your fault and I wouldn’t be here in the first place if it wasn’t for you!” I scream at him and toss the bottle of shampoo I’m holding in my hand at him in pure anger. Want to hit him with something hard. He is quick and takes the bottle when it comes flying at him.
We both breathe heavily from our anger and the tension is heavy between us, water is pouring down my body and that’s the only sound in the room besides our heavy breathing. We stand like that for what feels like an eternity before I see him quickly close the distance between us and push me back against

Selena POV:

“You took your chance to mark me only to make yourself stronger! Not once have my will crossed your mind. Don’t you dare come and say you did this for me when you don’t even know if I would rather be dead than bonded to you!” His silence speaks numbers and I know everything I said is the truth!
“You came here with your men and try to take over when I have been running this pack for years and surviving on my own. The second you interfered with what we do it went to shit because you can’t pull your head out of your a*s and let me do what I have been doing. I gave you the order to stay inside the
barrier for everyone’s sake since you don’t know half of it!” He just looks intense at me and I’ m tired of this. Turning around I grab some clothes and walk by him out to my room again. Quickly taking them on when I see him put on his briefs and walk over to where I stand and blocking my way when I’m about to head out of the room.
“Not everything you said is the truth!” He says and I try to walk past him when he grabs my arm. I glance at him before snatching my arm away from him.
“My truth is that you forced me out of my home without even the opportunity to say goodbye to my family! I get it that you mourned her but I was left with nothing. Couldn’t even keep my clothes I had on me when I shifted under your command. Scared and alone without a home to return to or ask someone for help I had to find a way out here to survive.” I have to take a breath before I continue
“You didn’t even have a bad conscience to come and look for me under all these years. To even see if I was still alive. So, whatever you think justifies that I’ m not interested to hear. I don’t have time to stand here and keep arguing with you! I have a pack to look after and make sure they are safe. You and your men are free to leave our grounds whenever you are ready!” I say before walking out of my room and leaving him inside.
Chapter 53
Selena POV:
The moment I step out of my room I already regret saying some of the harsh words I said. I don’t want a mate but I am grateful he saved me!
I can’t tell him that though, it would mean I have to let a wall down and admit it and there is nothing good coming out of that.
We are better off without each other and I just have to find a way to break the bond. There has to be a way without K*lling him if the bond is broken.
Making my way down the stairs and over to the kitchen I’m trying to sort my thoughts. I hear my bedroom door open and his heavy steps coming down the stairs.
Reaching the kitchen I find Emma stirring in a pot on the stove and she immediately rushes over to me and wraps me up in her arms.
“I’m so sorry Selena! I f0rced Kian to mark you, we couldn’t lose you, it’s all my fault! Don’t be angry at him” She says and my stomach drops at her words.
So now he didn’t even want to save me! Just did it because Emma f0rced him to. Well, it’s just getting better by the minute. I hear Kian behind me in the kitchen but don’t want to look at him. O
“Here I have made you a potion to keep you from going into heat!” She says and releases me before walking over to the stove. She gives me the bottle and I look at it, the thought hasn’t crossed my mind yet but there is no way I want to go into heat! I take it in one go and swallow the potion, feeling the liquid running down my throat I try to calm down.
Going into heat is the last thing I need right now!
Placing the bottle down when I feel his presence behind me but I ignore him.
A mindlink opens up and it comes from Jessie!
Telling everyone to stay inside. That can only mean one thing and I turn around and rush out of the kitchen without saying anything when I mindlink back and wonder where she is.
Kian is right after me and when she tells me they are on the south side I rush in their direction.
I know Jessie has it all under control but I need to know what has happened these hours I have been out.
Turning around a corner I see her standing with Zoey and Jacob by the barrier, Kian’s men are there beside them and when I reach where they stand
Jessie turns around and wraps me up in her arms. “I’m so sorry I didn’t protect you better,” she says and my heart goes out to her. Holding her tighter to me I’m blessed to have them all by my side.
“You did everything you could and I know you are a reason I’m still here,” I say before releasing her and Zoey comes up to hug me from behind.
“You also Zoey!’ I say to her while looking out of the barrier.
” Now tell me what’s going on!” I say to them.
“We got rid of the bod*ies but there wasn’t enough time to have every trace erased, we have seen at least a dozen rogues running around after!” Jessie says when I see a rogue in the tree line.
“Are everyone inside and where are they coming from?” I ask them.
“Five of our best scouts are outside, they have reported most of the rogues came from the king’s land!” Zoey says when there is a furious growl behind me. I already know who it is and roll my eyes at him.
I feel his presence before his hand comes and swirls me around. Coming to stare right into his angry eyes.
“You’re telling me these rogues comes from my land!” He says with anger in his voice. I sigh at him. “Yes, they are coming from the woods outside your borders! We haven’t had time to scout all the area before but it’s something I’m going to do now!” I say and take a step to the side before he grabs my arm and pulls me close to him.
“You are not going without me!” He says and I try to snatch my arm out of his grip but he only holds me tighter.
“I’m coming with you and that’ s final!” Hi says with dominance in his voice.
“We have our scent masked and you don’t! I think it ‘s time for you to go back to where you came from” I just say and snatch my arm out of his grip. If he thinks I will back down and have the same mistake made twice by him he can forget it. Turning around I start to go back to the pack house.
I hear steps behind me before Jessie and Zoey reach me and I hear the others come after. I curse to myself, how hard can it be for him to leave me alone and do my business?
Reaching our pack house I open the door and we get inside. Before we head out on longer runs we always take a fill of the potion to make sure we are without a scent.
Walking over to the kitchen where I guess Emma still is, and I was right.
We find her standing in the kitchen stirring in several pots and I have no idea what she is making now.
“We need the potion!” I tell her when she looks at me, she already knows what I’m talking about when I see she has placed several plastic mugs on the table. Kian and his men come inside the kitchen and even if it’s a large kitchen with room for about fifteen people it starts to feel crowded with these big bulky men here too.
Looking at the mugs and back at Emma I try to figure out if she knows something she is not telling me. Tilting my head to the side while I look intensely at her I see she start to feel uncomfortable under my gaze.
“Tell me!” I say to her and see she takes a big breath before looking at me.
“It’s nothing, Selena! I don’t trust myself right now whit him here, it feels better if they are by your side and protects you all” she says and blushes on her cheeks before she averts her gaze.
“You have told him what you are?” I mindlink her, want to have this conversation private with her.
“Yes, I have!” She says and looks at me.
“Have you told him about your daughter and what happened!” I see her start to fiddle with her apron.
“No just that I have had a child since before! He took it well” She answers and I sigh, she already blame herself for not seeing the vision before it was too late. I can’t do this to her!
“Alright! Give it to them” I say and walk ahead to grab my mug and take the potion in one go before throwing it in the trash bin.
My men follow behind and take their potion and get out in the hallway while they wait. Kian and his men walk over and Emma hands them their mugs, when her mate comes forward I see her blush when he hooks a finger under her jaw and tilts her head up to look at him.
He places a kiss on her cheek before he lets her go and takes a step back.
I just smile at the sight. When she turns around and looks at me I wiggle my eyebrows at her and she rolls her eyes in response.
On my way out of the kitchen I stop and turn to Emma, Kian is right behind me.
“I need you to find a way for us to break the bond without having anyone of us K*lled!” I say when I hear a low growl and Kian grabs my arm and f0rces me around to face him. His eyes look intense at me when his hand comes up and grabs the hair on the back of my head, tilting my head up before he leans his face closer to mine.
“I won’t let you!” He says and his breath is fanning my face, anger is radiating out of him.
“I thought it would make you happy since you didn’ t even want to save me, to begin with! Just did it because Emma forced you.” I spit at him and look at him with the same anger.
Chapter 54
Kian POV:
I hold her for a moment taking in what she said, before releasing my grip on her hair and letting her go. Seeing her looking angry at me before she turns on her heel and walks out of the kitchen.
Declan walks up to me and stands by my side.
“Why don’t you tell her the truth?” He says and I start to walk out of the kitchen with him beside me. He is my best friend and I know he is going to lecture me. But I’m not up for it with all these rogues running around and Selena who won’t share what she knows.
“What truth?” I say and try to sound unbothered when we come out in the hall and no one is around. “You marked her because you wanted and can’t lose her! And you could tell her how sorry you are for making a mistake or several in fact!” He states before he gets ahead and stands in my way. The others have left the house and I stop right in front of him.
“It doesn’t matter! She hates me anyway for what I did” I just state to him and look sternly at him, wanting him to get out of my way right now.
He crosses his arms over his chest and looks seriously at me.
“Yes! But it doesn’t help that you are going at her with f0rce. Get a grip Kian and man up before you lose her for good!” He states before he turns around and heads for the door.
“Because that’s working so well for you!111 just bark at him, I’m not the only one having trouble with his mate here.
He turns around and looks at me angrily.
“Well, at least I’m trying my best and not forcing her!” He spits before going out the door and leaving me alone in the hall. I know he is right but how could I ever get her to forgive me for what I did to her? She is a far better leader than I am with the way she cares for her pack and would even sacrifice her own life for them. All I have done through the years is f0rce my pack to do as I say and bring order and routine. To me, the king’s business has always been to have total control over everything.
Nothing happens, in my kingdom without me knowing it first!
“You know he has a point!” Comes a voice from behind and I know Emma heard it all. I don’t answer and start to head for the door instead.
“She needs a mate that stands by her side! Not someone who will f0rce her to submit” she says and I take the handle and stand there a moment, taking in what she said.
“I know!” I say before opening the door and getting outside. I know what a mistake I did those years back, and I can’t change it.
Coming outside I see Declan and Cannon talking while they get undressed, in front of us is Selena in her white wolf with her men beside her.
Pulling my shirt over my head I place it on a chair before I take off my pants and briefs before quickly shifting.
Telling my wolf to keep some distance from her we slowly start to walk forward, stopping a bit behind with Declan and Cannon. Seeing her looking me all over I wait for her to move so we can follow.
“Ready?” Comes a voice in my head, which I wasn’t ready for.
“You can mindlink without being a pack?” I mindlink back in surprise. She looks at me before her wolf turns on her heel and starts running.
“Yes!” Comes a mindlink and we start to run after her, through her pack and out of her barrier. It’s the third time I’m crossing through it and I’m stunned at how it’s even possible.
I have so many questions if she would answer them. “Jacob and Zoey you know the way and take to the left! Jessie takes to the right while I’m going straight ahead. The rest follow what way you want! ” Comes Selena’s voice in a mindlink to us all at the same time. My choice is easy and I follow after her, cannon runs up beside me and sniffs in the air and ground. I’m just waiting for him to find a trace after rogues and it doesn’t take long before he gets a trace.
He takes the lead and we follow behind him, taking our surroundings in while he follows the trace.
“He is good!” Comes a mindlink from Selena after a long time, we have been running for at least two hours and we are just outside my borders.
“Yes! He’s my best tracker” I mindlink back when he turns and starts to head over to another pack grounds and we follow him. The trace goes right between my pack grounds and another one!
I know the Alpha well in that pack and need to have a conversation with him. This is a problem we have missed and I need to get to the bottom of this.
“Is it always from here the rogues come from?” I mindlink Selena.
“No there are from other places too!” She says and I sigh
“Can you show me on a map?” I ask her and hope she will at least show me this. It takes a moment before she answers.
“Yes!” Turning to look at her when her men come running up behind us.
“I will portal us back!” She says and shifts in front of us before she opens a portal and her men start to walk inside and mine after. I shift in front of her when we are the last ones left and she closes the portal when I don’t move.
“I have several maps on the area and around back in my office! I think it’s better to go there” I tell her and hope she will take us there. She sighs before she opened a portal and stops right in front of it.
“And you think I don’t!” She says and walks inside. Looking at the portal for a moment and wait for her to close it right in front of me, but she doesn’t. I walk over to it before taking a big step and find myself right in her bedroom and hear the shower on before the portal closes.
I’m too stunned and just stand there and looking at the space the portal was in when I hear the shower turns off and her footstep walks out to where I stand n@ked.
Her scent is prominent in this room and with the hot water it’s even stronger and I feel how my d*ck jerks where I stand. Placing my hands over it to try and cover my raising boner when she walks out of the bathroom in just a towel wrapped around her. Chapter 55
Selena POV:
Kian just stands there n@ked and looks at me, I let my eyes travel over his perfectly sculpted body. I stop my traveling eyes when I hear him clear his throat and I avert my eyes when I have reached his abs.
“You can use the shower if you want!” I say and walk past him over to my closet. Coming inside I hear him walk over to the bathroom and I take a deep breath. His presence affects me and I almost lost my mind there for a moment, we can’t have a repeat of the moment in the shower again.
Pulling out new underwear and clothes I start to get dressed. When I’m done I hear a knock on my bedroom door and head over to open it up. Declan stands there with Kian’s clothes in his hands and gives them to me without saying anything.
Taking them from him I give him a nod before closing the door and turning around.
Hearing the bathroom door opens up and his scent hits my nose like a slap in my face and I can’t move! Have to lean my body against the wall to prevent my legs from going out under me.
Kian comes walking out with a low-hanging towel and water playing on his skin. My eyes roam over his body and the urge to let my hands travel over his chest becomes strong. Biting my bottom lip hard to prevent myself from giving in to these desires.
I don’t manage to move just standing there looking at him when he starts to take long strides over to where I stand.
His scent is all around me and I can’t help but take a large inhale when he stops right in front of me and I close my eyes for a second before tilting my head up to look at him.
Meeting his gorgeous amber eyes that are looking all over my face before his hand comes up and cups my cheek.
Sparks shoot out from under his hand and course right through my body, I have to bite myself harder on my lip and draw blood to prevent myself from M0@ning out from the feeling.
His eyes move to my lips when I feel his thumb pull my bottom lip out of my mouth and he caresses over it.
I see him taking his thumb up to his mouth and licking some blood off it before his eyes become pitch black and I hear a low growl that makes my core throb. I can’t help the bond running havoc in my body when he swallows loudly and leans forward. He places a hand beside my head on the wall before his face comes down to my shoulder and I hear him take a large inhale. I shiver in anticipation when his hot breath touches my shoulder. I phant out and want to feel his hands on my body!
But he doesn’t touch me, standing there for a moment before he pushes off the wall.
I turn my head up to look at him when he takes his clothes out of my hands and holds my eyes captivated for a moment. I even forgot I was holding them when he steps away and walks back inside the bathroom. The muscle on his back plays for every step he takes and a big part of me wants to follow after him, have his body close to mine. Shaking my head I know it’s just the bond messing with my mind and I need to get a grip on this situation before it gets out of hand completely.
I sigh and push off the wall to get out of the room and his intoxic scent. Opening the door I stop and call out to him.
“Going down to the kitchen!” I say and step outside. Don’t wait for him to answer when I leave and head down to the kitchen.
Coming inside I find Emma and Sari making dinner and my stomach start to rumble, I have forgotten to eat, and right now I’m starving.
Emma turns her head and looks at me.
“Hi, Selena! Food is ready in just a moment” she says and I walk over to where they are standing. Need to have a talk with her before anyone else comes inside the kitchen.
“I need some help!” I say and she takes my arm and drags me over to their herb room. She closes the door after her and looks at me.
“What’s the problem?” She says and I sigh.
“I need something more to help push the bond away, I’m too affected by his presence. It’s getting to my mind!” I say and drag a hand down my face when she starts to chuckle.
“No, I won’t help you! ” she says and cross her arms over her chest. I look at her with a frown on my face.
“Why not?” I ask her and look sternly at her.
“Oh you can try and be angry at me but I won’t help you anyway! I’m giving you the option to prevent you from going into heat since the choice of being marked was taken from you. But I won’t help you fight the bond! You will have to handle it like the rest of us” she says and I’m about to burst when she takes a step closer and place her hand on my shoulder.
“He is not as terrible as you think Selena! You just had a bad start” she says and anger rises in my body from her words I thought she was on my side!
“So now you are defending him! You think it’s right what he has done!” I bark out and I guess whoever is in the kitchen would have heard it. She takes a step back from me.
“Calm down Selena! And no I don’t, but I believe he has changed and wants to do what’s right for you! I’ m not saying you should forgive him for
everything, just give him a chance to prove himself to you! Look outside your hurt and see there is a bigger problem out there to solve and you can’t do this on your own and fight off the rogues” she barks back at me and I’m surprised she has this strong opinion. Looking at her I scan her face and it suddenly dawns on me, she has seen a vision.
The door behind her opens and I see Kian and Cannon coming inside behind her.
“What have you seen?” I ask her and need to know, don’t care if they will hear it too. I see Emma take a big inhale before she raises her eyes from the floor and looks right at me.
“All I have seen is that you will lay dead on the forest floor with me, Zoey and Jessie by your side with a large number of rogues around us if you don1 t have Kian by your side! Because every one of us will stand by your side even to death!” She says with pain in her voice and I see her eyes tear up before she turns on her heel and rushes out of the room.
Looking at the door I see Cannon follow after her, leaving only me and Kian in the room. Turning my head I look right at him but no one says a word.
My eyes are locked on his while I try to take in what Emma just told me.
I know her visions can change through time and what she sees now won’t have to be what’s going to happen in the future.
The closer in time we come to her visions the more accurate they will be and I can’t see a time when Emma would ever be outside in a fight with us, she could never fight with us but the thought of my sisters dying beside me on the forest floor have tears to well up in my eyes and run down my cheeks.
Wiping tears from my cheeks I start to walk over to the door when Kian grabs my arm in a firm grip, stopping me from walking out.
“I won’t let you d*ie!” Comes his voice.
