Chapter 56
Selena POV:
Turning my head to look at him.
“Thinking about yourself! don’t worry the bond will be broken before you get affected!” I say to him only for him to hold a firm grip on my arm.
“That’s not what I meant!” He says and looks intensely at me. I don’t get what he is implying at. “Then what do you mean?” I say to him, I see him about to open his mouth and say something when Sari calls out that dinner is ready!
He let go of my arm but have his eyes locked with mine. He doesn’t say anything and I give up on this argument. Taking a moment to gather myself before walking out to the kitchen.
I have lost my hunger and right now I want to talk to Emma but I it’s not the time right now she has Cannon by her side.
I hear him walk behind me when I find everyone already sitting at the table. There are two places left beside each other and I figure they have done it on purpose.
Standing and looking at them Kian’s arm comes around my waist before he pulls me with him over to the table.
Emma and Cannon are sitting close to each other and she looks at me, I know she is sad and we will have to talk about it later.
Sitting down beside Kian I have lost my appetite and just pour myself a gla*s of water. Taking it to my mouth and start drinking I see him scope up some food on my plate. O
“Eat first! you need the strength and we will figure it out after!” He says and squeezes my thigh.
Looking at him when he starts to eat I pick up my fork and pop some meat in my mouth while I try to sort my thoughts.
Everyone around the table is quiet and it’s starting to get awkward when it’s this silent. Finishing my meal I sit back in my seat while waiting for the rest. “Sari, have you heard anything more from your sister? When is she back?” I ask her, wanting to know how things are going over there.
“She will be back tonight and give me a call tomorrow!” She says and look at me.
“Heard anything about the missing people?” I say and take a mouth of my water before placing the gla*s down.
“No they are still missing!” She says when I feel Kians gaze on me.
“Who are missing?” He says and I turn my head to look at him. Sari fills him in on everything and I look between them both.
“I want to know where they live! There are people missing from other packs as well and we are trying to get to the bottom of it” Kian says and I rise from my seat. Taking my plate and walk over to place it in the sink.
“Leave the dishes and I will come up to your office with some coffee!” Emma says and I head out of the kitchen. Hearing several other get up and walk after me up to my office.
Coming inside I get over to my bookshelf and get the maps. Placing them on my big table with seats all around it I start to unfold them.
Kian comes and stand by the table with his men.
“Can you point to the places people have been missing and what other information you can remember even the smallest detail!” He says and I look up from the table at him before I turn and look at Jessie. She has a grin on her lips and I can see she has a hard time keeping a straight face.
For months I have gathered information on where the rogues comes from and where they are heading, from the start when we first saw them here. All my notes to every mark I have made on the maps. I have several books with notes and folders with an investigating, something I guess Kian and his men never expect me to have.
Turning around I take down my folders and books from the shelf, and place them all on the table in several stacks before I take a seat beside Jessie. Looking at them I see surprise on their faces when they start to go through some of my notes.
“You have gathered all this information?” Kian says and look at me with some notes in his hands. Sitting back in my seat I raise an eyebrow at him. He didn’t think I could or what?
He keeps his eyes at me for a moment before he turns back his attention to the notes.
“This is going to take a long time to go through!” He says when Emma comes walking inside with some coffee to us.
I take my cup and start sipping on it. I know how much notes I have been making under all this time and it’s easier to tell them most of it.
Jessie sits next to me and sips on her coffee when she mindlinks me.
“Maybe we should just let them read everything themselves since they think they know best, and we can go and chill on the patio with some wine! I bet they would still be standing here in the morning scratching their heads!” I chuckle out loud at her, only to feel Kians gaze on me and I turn my head to look at him.
He stands there for a moment before he place the notes down on the table.
“How about you fill us in on everything instead!” He says and takes a seat with a cup in his hand and Declan takes a seat beside him while Cannon is standing with Emma.
Looking at her I remember her words earlier and maybe this is what I need to do for the vision to change.
Whatever is going on out there we can’t handle it alone!
I sigh before I start to take out my first folder, I have ten different with all important information in them.
“Here! These are numbered from the beginning to where we are now, every mark on the map holds different information and where we have been following them, just look in every folder and you will find the note”
I say and show him the map and the first folder.
He takes it and looks at it closely, Declan takes another map and starts to go through them when Cannon comes over and do the same. I sit back in the chair with Jessie by my side, looking at them when they have their hands full.
Emma leaves us and we take our time drinking our coffee and answering every question they have.
“It’s starting to get late and we need to head out!” Jessie says and she is right. There haven’t been any more activities outside our borders for the rest of the day, but it’s time Jessie and I take our scout and search the area.
“Where are you going!” Kian asks when we get up on our feets.
“Border control! ” I just state and put my cup down before following Jessie out of the room.
“Stop! You are not going out there without me!” He says and I roll my eyes at him but keep walking when I hear him take quick steps and get in front of me.
“Get out of my way!” I growl at him. Tired of him coming here and trying to take over. I have had enough.
“I have been doing this for years without you holding my hand!” I snap at him when he takes a step closer to me and holds my jaw in a firm grip.
Chapter 57
Selena POV:
We have a standoff where no one says a word and no one is ready to give up.
I see Cannon come walking up behind Kian and place a hand on his shoulder.
“My Queen! If I’m allowed I want to come with you and scout the area. I have my agenda and searching for the smallest traces” Cannon says and it breaks our standoffs.
Kian lets go of my jaw but keep his eyes on me.
“I’m not your Queen!” I turn my head and say to Cannon.
“Yes, you are! You’re my Queen and Luna! It would be an honor to follow you outside on your border control,” he says and I get this feeling he is saying this to have Kian calm when he is with me. I don’t have any idea who’s behind it and for all, I know Emma could have suggested it.
I wouldn’t be surprised if that was the case. Looking between them I give up.
“Alright!” I tell him and see Kian turn his head and look at him. Cannon is the best I have met to sniff up any trace and it’s not bad to have him with us.
I see him give Kian a pat on his shoulder before I take a step around him and walk out of the room. Going down the stairs and catching up with Jessie I hear heavy steps behind me and know it’s Cannon.
Reaching the front door Jessie is standing and waiting for me. She looks behind me at Cannon and raises an eyebrow at me but doesn’t say anything else. I keep walking ahead of her and open the door and get outside.
Take off my clothes and quickly shift before I start to run over to the northern borders.
Jessie comes running up beside me and I hear cannon behind.
“We start on this side and go on the right side of the border, mindlink me if you need!” I mindlink Cannon and keep a steady pase out of our barrier. I have some men out by the cave and taking an extra patrol around the last trace of them. We have to do a thorough search of the area before going back. O
Heading to the right we take our patrol, Jessie goes on my left and we know where to start. After a while with nothing alarming, we head the other way when I get a mindlink from Zoey saying everything is calm around the cave.
“Let’s head over to where you buried the bod*ies!” I mindlink Jessie and Cannon before turning in that direction.
Coming closer to the spot Cannon gets in front of us with his nose on the ground.
He stops suddenly and starts sniffing in the air, his ears point up and I get a mind link from him.
“Someone is here!” He says and I stop and start sniffing but can’t smell anything. I don’t find any trace of whatever he is sensing.
“I don’t smell anything!” I mindlink back when I suddenly hear a growl ahead of us.
“They can’t smell us!” Comes Jessie’s mind link and I know she is right. But who are they growling at?
“Let’s get closer!” I mindlink them and start to walk closer without making any sound. Hiding behind some bushes I finally smell a scent and they aren’t just rogue’s scent here. Seeing further ahead five wolves running around where the bod*ies are buried. One of them is bigger than the others and growls
when he looks around. Something doesn’t add up with them when I see Cannon take a large inhale and his eyes glance over.
Maybe he can still mindlink Kian and we aren’t too far away.
Otherwise, I don’t know who he is talking to.
I wait for him to say something while I keep my eyes locked on the wolves. I see them running around a bit before they suddenly take off in the opposite direction from where we are. We have to follow them and I’m about to go after them when I get a push in my side from Cannon and lose my footing.
Quickly get up on my feet when I see his eyes glance over and he looks at me.
“We need to go back!” He says and I ignore him and turn my head to go after them instead. There is no way I will let them get away without finding where they come from.
“You come back here this instant or I will come and drag you back in two seconds!” Comes Kian’s voice in my head and I’m surprised he can mindlink me when others outside my pack try to mindlink I feel the connection before I pick the mind link up. Right now he just mind-linked me!
“One!” his voice comes again
“You think you have any say in that? And I will be far away from here before you have reached this spot!” I mindlink back and start to walk when I find myself lifted in the air by Cannon.
“Sorry, my Queen but the King’s orders!” He says and sounds troubled, who do they think they are!? it’s good for him that he is big or he wouldn’t be able to lift me up.
Trying to wiggle out of his grip I see Jessie about to follow the wolves and I can’t have her running after them alone. Shifting in his arms he lets me go and I’ m quick and open a portal in front of Jessie and then us.
Coming out the other side to my office and an angry Kian pacing around in my office. When he sees us he is quick in front of me and pulls his shirt over his head before placing it on me. I roll my eyes at him when he makes sure I’m covered up down to my thighs.
“How hard is it for you to listen for once at me!” He barks at me and I have the same anger as him.
” I didn’t need you to hold my hand before and I certainly don’t need it now! Don’t come and tell me what to do!” I bark back at him. His chest is rising heavily and if smoke could come out of his nose it would.
“Those wolves you were about you follow are enemies to the crown. They want to take over the kingdom and If they find out about you then your life is on the line here!” He yells and takes a step closer.
“You don’t think I can take care of myself?!” I bark out and look angry at him. I hear the others leave the room and close the door after them. If I could leave myself I would instead of standing here and arguing with him.
” you don’t know what army you would be facing,” he says and his stern gaze doesn’t scare me.
“Then tell me what I need to know instead of arguing!” I say and take his face in. Seeing how he thinks for a long moment and doesn’t say anything before he sighs and takes a step back.
“Come,” he says and places his hand on my waist, and walks with me over to the table. I follow him over and come to stand right in front of a map.
“Here are my lands!” He shows me on the map and I already know this. I have knowledge of most of the packs.
“Here are the ones on my side and over here are my enemy. They have a large piece of land over here and for months we have been getting threats on our borders, several K*lled people by them have been found outside of our land. We don’t have much information about them, just that they are after the crown” he says and points to the map. I take his words in and try to fit the puzzle in my head, the wolves I saw in the forest I got a strange feeling about. I can’t put my finger on it yet.
“Are you sure they are after the crown?” I ask him while looking at the map, it doesn’t quite add up. Between the king’s land and what he says is his enemy’s lies several smaller packs. If they aren’t after those too I don’t see why they would come after his land.
“There have been some written letters with threats from them what we can find!” He says and picks up a folder.
I have this nagging feeling in the back of my head, something just doesn’t add up.
Taking one of my older notebooks I get up and walk over to my couch I have in my office to sit down and go through it. I know there were some traces we followed in the beginning and I’m certain I wrote them down.
This has been the longest day for ages and when I have been sitting down for a while my eyelids feel so heavy I have a hard time keeping them open. I would guess it’s close to midnight soon and with everything happening today I’m exhausted. Resting my head against my hand while I hold the book with my other and try to read my notes.
I don’t know when I fell asleep, only woke up when Kian lifted me up in his arms and I try to lift my head and get down.
“Go back to sleep!” He says and I give up and rest my head against his n@ked warm chest when he carries me out of the room and over to my bedroom. I’m exhausted.
Chapter 58
Selena POV:
Hearing his steady heartbeat when he carries me out of my office and into the hallway. We don’t meet anyone on the way. Coming to my bedroom he opens the door. Walking inside he shove the door closed with his foot before he walks over and lay me down on the bed.
Placing my head on the pillow I snuggle with it and close my eyes again. Hearing him walking around in my room and using my bathroom before he comes back inside and turns off the lights. I’m too tired to move right now.
The bed dips on the side of me when he lay down beside me, I don’t have any energy left to argue with him about it or that there are several guestrooms in this pack house ready for any guest. It feels nice and warm when he pulls me close to him and drapes the quilt over us.
I can’t help it but snuggle closer to him and take a large inhale of his scent.
Hearing a soft chuckle before his hand comes down to my jaw and tilt my head up toward him.
Opening my eyes I stare right into his and see him look me all over before he slowly leans forward.

Feeling someone patting my hand I slowly open my eyes and look to the side. Finding Emma sitting on the side of my bed with my hand in hers.

Rolling my eyes at her I place my feet on the floor and start to walk over to the closet.

I just shake my head at her and turn back to my closet and walk inside.

We walk together for a bit in the hallway before she goes down to the kitchen instead. I somehow feel nervous to meet him again after I lost it.

There is a knock on the door before Declan and Cannon come walking inside.
“They are ready to head back!” Cannon says and I guess he means their drivers and guards.
“Alright, tell them we will be down shortly,” Kian says while he keeps his eyes on me.
“I want you to come with us!” He says and I look at him.
“I won’t leave my pack! So I’m not coming with you” I say in a firm tone. There is no way I will be leaving them to go with Kian to his kingdom. I have to stay here and look after my pack. I see him take a big breath and sigh
“Alright, I won’t f0rce you! But I’m coming back when I can” He says in a firm tone without any chance to argue with him. Looking all over his face before I give him a response.
“You know I can always portal and you can mindlink me wherever you are!” I tell him when he grabs me and pulls my body close to him.
“Don’t go and do anything rash before I’m back. Stay inside your borders” he says with a dominant voice.
When I don’t answer he places one of his hands behind my head and f0rce my head up to look at him.
“Do you hear what I’m saying!? Stay inside your borders” I just give him a light nod, if he believes I would stay under any command from him or anyone else for that matter he is mistaken.
“Good girl!” He says and gives me a peck on my lips before letting me go. He turns around and is about to leave when I open a portal in front of them and take a seat at my big table. Looking at their surprised faces when they look between the portal and me.
“The expressway to your castle!” I say and give them a wink. Declan chuckle and is the first one to step inside before Cannon follows after. Kian looks at me for a long moment before he takes determined steps and gets inside. Closing the portal after them I sigh.
“Couldn’t you have sent at least Declan to a pond or something! Just getting him a little wet” I hear Jessie’s voice and start to laugh at the thought.
“You would have loved it wouldn’t you!” I say between laughs and get down from the table.
“Yes! You have no idea how much he has gotten on my nerves these days” she says and sighs. I see a dreamy expression on her face for a quick moment.
“it looks like he has gotten on some other nerves also!” I say and wiggle my eyebrows at her before I start to gather my notes and maps on the table and walk over and place them back where I store them on the shelf.
“No, he is still annoying!” She says and helps me get the last one back.
“I have some work to catch up on, everything alright with the borders?” I ask her while walking over to my desk and taking a seat behind my computer. There are a few things from work I have to take a closer look at.
“Right now there aren’t any new activity and Jacob are out scouting with five more. He just reported they were on their way back here!” She says and sits down in front of me when I hear some fast steps in the hallway before Sari comes rushing inside. with a frightened expression on her face and tears streaming down her cheeks. Whatever has happened it’s serious!
“I need you to portal me over to my sisters right away! I only heard screaming on the phone!” She shouts out and I get up from my seat when Emma and Zoey come running inside.
“Alright! But I’m not letting you go alone. I’m coming with you” I say and open a portal to her sister and step over to the portal before Sari makes it there. I will be the first one out of the portal and if we are stepping into any fight I have a chance to save her.
“I’m coming too!” I hear several voices when we rush inside the portal and I don’t have time to think about who is following after us over there.
