Ch. 661..670
The Final Countdown
"No!" I shook my head in disbelief, my mind rejecting everything I had just heard. "No! Tell me you're lying," I said, trying to laugh it off as a cruel joke.
But her silence, paired with the helpless gloom in her eyes, told me otherwise. She wasn't lying. She had planned the day of my demise even before bringing me into this world.
"How could you do this to me, Mother?" I mumbled, my voice trembling as my lips quivered. A silent sob escaped me. I didn't even know if I should call her 'Mother' anymore-not after hearing how cruelly she had condemned her own child.
"I am sorry, my child," she said in a pleading voice. "I had no other choice but to sacrifice you to save the world.'
A tear escaped my eye as flashes of my life flickered before me like a relentless movie reel. Memories played on repeat, and I wanted so badly to rewind to the part before I met Zander-before I fell in love. Because now, no matter how hard I tried, I couldn't imagine leaving him to bear the unbearable pain of my absence.
And... what about my son, Austin? My unborn baby? It hadn't even been given a chance to come into the world, yet it was fated to end with me all because my mother was selfish enough to sacrifice her own blood.
But I wasn't her.
"Mother... my baby," I sobbed, cradling my stomach protectively. "I can sacrifice my life for the world, but I cannot take my baby with me. I won't kill my child."
"I know, Selena, and I'm not cruel enough to kill my own daughter," she said, her words freezing me in place. Two statements, completely contradictory, and yet both came from the same woman.
"I know you think I'm heartless," she continued, her voice softer now as her eyes darted away, unable to meet mine. "I thought I was strong enough to go through with the process. That's why I left you with your father and kept my distance. No contact, no emotional attachment... I thought it would make things easier -for both of us.
She paused, her confession hanging heavily in the air. For the first time, I saw her vulnerability. I didn't blame her for what she did-if she'd chosen me for sacrifice, distancing herself might have been the only way she could bear the heartbreak. After all, the world still needed the High Priestess.
"But after seeing you," she continued, her voice trembling slightly, "watching you with your family, seeing how happy you were... I became selfish." Her gaze finally found mine, her eyes shimmering with unshed tears. "I couldn't be strong enough to do it. So, I came up with a plan.
My breath caught in my throat as her words sank in. "What plan?" I demanded, my heart pounding.
She exhaled deeply, as if bracing herself. "I made a deal with the God of Destruction. He agreed to save our realm and stop the chaos, but only if you agreed to marry him."
Her hands reached for mine,
trembling as her gaze locked with
mine, her eyes filled with
desperation and guilt. "I did it for you," she said softly, her voice pleading. "I couldn't bear the thought of you going through the sacrifice. This way, the world could still be saved, and you could live." Suddenly, everything clicked. That's why she was so insistent on me marrying the God of Destruction. It all made sense now-why she'd forced me to forget my family and mate, why she'd erased them from my life. She hadn't done it out of cruelty, she'd done it to ensure nothing and no one could stand in the way of the wedding.
"I can't marry God Kaelvor," I said firmly, my tone leaving no room for negotiation. "Zander remembers everything now, and I'm pregnant with his child. I can't betray him by marrying another man." "No, Selena, don't be foolish!" she snapped, her voice sharp with desperation. "Only the God of Destruction can help us. If you marry him, your powers combined with his could save the universe."
I could see her desperation. She was overwhelmed by the situation, clinging to this plan as her last hope.
I couldn't decide whether to feel angry at her for the choices she had made or pity her for the guilt that now consumed her.
"Mother, I don't think this is a good idea," I said, shaking my head in dismissal.
Her hopeful eyes dulled, and sadness settled over her features. "Selena, don't be stubborn now," she pleaded, her tone softer yet urgent. "I know it's possible if we try."
"There has to be another way, Mother," I countered, my mind racing. "Another way to save the world...and me." I couldn't bring myself to accept this path, not when my baby's life was tied to mine.
She shook her head gravely. "There
is no other way, Selena. The day is coming, and when it does, I won't be able to save you, no matter how much I want to. Please, my daughter, agree to marry God Kaelvor. He is the God of Destruction, Selena-he holds the power to control the end. If you become his wife, he could save you. Together, you could rewrite the process and save everything." Her determination seemed unshakable.
Something deep inside me whispered that this plan was futile, that no matter what we tried, we couldn't stop what had been decided before I was even born.
I exhaled a shaky breath, my mind racing. If this process was predestined, could marrying a god truly change it? Or would it only make matters worse? The uncertainty gnawed at me, and I couldn't shake the feeling that there was more to this than my mother was telling me.
Time was slipping away, and I knew I had to find a way to fix everything before it was too late.
Chapter 662
Everything Is Linked
When I returned home, I found Zander waiting for me in our room. His arms were crossed, and his expression was a mixture of relief and concern.
"Where were you, mate? I was worried. I couldn't reach you," he said, his voice gentle but laced with unease as he closed the distance between us in two quick steps, taking my hands in his.
The bond from our mating mark had been restored, reestablishing our connection and allowing us to mind-link once more. The link with the pack had also returned. But when I was in the Lunar Realm, the mind-link didn't work. That made it clear: hiding my visit to the Lunar Realm was a bad idea. He'd know if I lied in a heartbeat.
We had promised each other we wouldn't keep secrets anymore. So, I took a deep breath and told him the truth.
"Zander, I went to see my mother," I admitted.
His eyes sharpened, instantly more attentive. "And?" he prompted, his tone calm but firm, knowing I would have had serious discussion with my mother.
I hesitated, searching for the right words. "She told me..." I trailed off, taking a deep breath before narrating everything my mother had confessed.
Zander listened intently, his expression growing darker with each word. When I finished, his jaw clenched so tightly I feared his teeth might crack.
"How could she call herself your mother and still throw you to the jaws of death?" he growled, the raw anger in his voice making the air feel heavy.
I swallowed, trying to calm the storm brewing between us.
"Zander, she didn't fully realize the severity of what she was doing when she made the decision. At least, that's what she says."
His piercing eyes met mine, unrelenting. "And you believe that?"
I sighed, my hands trembling slightly. "When she saw that I had a life... a family... she regretted it. That's why she made the deal with the God of Destruction. She thought it was the only way to save me and the world.'
His brow furrowed, confusion flashing across his face. "The God of Destruction? What kind of deal?"
I swallowed hard, my hands twisting nervously. "She wants me to marry him. She believes it's the only way to stop the process and save everyone. If I don't... she says there's no other way to change what's already set in motion."
Zander's jaw tightened, his expression darkening. "She wants you to marry someone else? To that... god?" His voice was calm but carried an undercurrent of restrained anger.
I nodded, my voice barely above a whisper. "Yes, she thinks it's the only way to save me and the world." "Selena, listen to me. No matter what she says, we'll figure this out. Together. I'm not losing you, and I'm not letting you sacrifice yourself for some ridiculous plan."
Tears stung my eyes as I looked up at him. "But what if she's right, Zander? What if there's no other way? The clock is ticking, and I don't know what to do."
I felt so lost, my mind clouded by
confusion, and even my powers felt useless in the face of everything. I couldn't do anything to save the world, except die. It was as if fate had given me only two options:
sacrifice myself to the universe net
saving everyone else but losing
myself, or live with my family and mate, knowing that the world would eventually fall and destroy us all. The weight of that choice crushed me. If someone had to go, better me than everyone else. At least then, Zander and the kids would have a chance.
Zander seemed to read the turmoil inside me as he cupped my face gently, making me focus on him. His eyes locked with mine, unwavering and filled with determination.
"Then we'll find another way," he said, his voice firm but tender. "I don't care how impossible it seems. You're my mate, and I won't let anyone-god or otherwise-take you away from me."
Even, I didn't want to belong to another man, whether god or mortal. I only belonged to Zander Blake, and
if I had to face death, I'd rather die as his mate. The thought of living without him-of leaving him behind -was unbearable.
I closed my eyes, my heart heavy with guilt as I whispered a silent apology to my unborn baby.
If I had known my end was so close, I never would have thought to bring you into this world.
The pain of the guilt was overwhelming, knowing that because of me, my baby would never get the chance to see the light of day, to feel the warmth of life, or experience the beauty of the world. The thought of it shattered something deep inside me.
"Zander," I spoke, my voice strained
with the weight of everything. "We have very little time. Before the destruction begins, we need to stop Damon and the Dark Alpha from bringing chaos into the world. searched his face for some sign of agreement, hoping he would understand the urgency.
"Because once the destruction starts, there will be no way to stop the process. Not even the God of Destruction can prevent it then." I added, my eyes locking with his, trying to impress the gravity of the situation.
Zander's gaze turned cold, his eyes distant, as if he were lost in his thoughts.
"You think this destruction is part of a larger process?" he asked, his voice low and steady.
I nodded, feeling the weight of the situation settle over me. As far as my knowledge and research went, yes, the destruction was a chained reaction, and it had a starting point. My gut told me that Damon and the Dark Alpha were up to something dangerous, and with the day of destruction fast approaching, there was no other explanation for their actions.
"That's why I met with Jasper-to find Damon, to track him to his hiding place." I informed him, my voice filled with urgency.
Zander took a deep breath, the tension in his shoulders easing as if he was coming to a realization. His eyes met mine, a quiet certainty in his expression. "I think I know where we can find him." "What?" My heart skipped a beat, his revelation catching me completely off guard.
Chapter 663
New Ally
Author's
POV.
In the dim, oppressive air of the dark den, the Dark Alpha's voice echoed with a chilling resonance. "Damon, your army is useless. It didn't help me terrorize Alpha Zander Blake," he sneered, his tone dripping with mockery.
Damon stood amidst the flickering light of a ritual circle, the golden trident in his grasp glowing faintly. He had been channeling its ancient power, weaving warlock incantations to strengthen himself for the inevitable day of destruction. The interruption was unwelcome, his irritation evident in the way his shoulders tensed.
"Don't blame my army for your incompetence!" Damon roared, his deep voice reverberating through the chamber as his concentration shattered. The dark energy around him flickered, momentarily unstable, as his fury took hold.
The Dark Alpha smirked, his hulking figure barely visible in the shadows. "Hah! Then who should I blame?" he retorted, his voice laced with mockery. "Alpha Zander's efficient warriors, perhaps? Or is it his cunning mate who's outmaneuvering you?"
The taunt was deliberate, and Damon's grip on the trident tightened. His eyes burned with a mixture of rage and determination, the golden glow of the artifact reflecting his inner turmoil.
"Careful, Dark Alpha. Your arrogance blinds you to the forces at play," he hissed, his voice low and menacing.
The Dark Alpha chuckled darkly, unfazed by Damon's warning.
"Nah. I know what I am doing. But arrogance or not, you have yet to deliver what you promised. If you fail to tip the scales before the day of destruction, your powers and your plans will mean nothing." Damon's eyes narrowed, his mind racing. He couldn't afford to lose focus now. "The scales will tip," he growled, his tone deadly. "And when they do, the universe will tremble under our combined might." Though Damon had never seen the Dark Alpha's face-just as no one else had-he knew enough. He knew the Dark Alpha's goals were as twisted and ambitious as his own. Their partnership was born out of necessity, not trust, but for now, it served its purpose. The ancient wolf was the key to Damon's ultimate power, and they could only trap her by working together. That was their plan, and they were in cahoots with the God of Destruction. With God Kaelvor on their side, they were confident that no one could stand against them. They were certain their plan would succeed without fail.
"How far along is the plan to trap Selena and bring her ancient wolf under our control?" Damon asked, his tone laced with urgency, betraying the weight of his impatience.
The Dark Alpha let out a frustrated sigh, his shadowy form shifting slightly.
"She's not going to be easily manipulated," he admitted, his tone edged with irritation.
He had tried to manipulate her in countless ways, and appearing before her as Zander Blake had been his ace trick. Yet, despite his similarity in appearance with Zander, Selena had recognized the
deception instantly. The Dark Alpha couldn't fathom how she had seen through him. It was as if she
possessed an innate ability to discern the truth, a strength that set her apart. Such a strong-willed woman she was, and it couldn't simply be the power of the mate bond. No, it couldn't be that strong. He refused to believe such a ridiculous notion, especially since he, too, shared a bond with her. So why was Zander the only one who mattered to her, the only one she held precious? The thought festered within him, fueling his growing frustration.
"She saw through every illusion," the Dark Alpha continued through gritted teeth, his frustration palpable.
"I even played my ace trick-but it didn't work on her."
Damon's expression darkened, the golden trident in his hand pulsating faintly. "There's always a way. If we can't manipulate her mind, then we'll have to break her spirit."
The Dark Alpha tilted his head, intrigued but wary. "And how do you propose we do that?"
Damon's smile was cold and calculating. "By attacking what she holds most dear. Zander Blake is her anchor, her greatest strength. If we sever that bond, her power will crumble and so will her resistance."
"Oh, come on! We've tried that
before and failed miserably," the Dark Alpha growled in frustration. “That's a terrible idea.” He was visibly irritated, remembering how his last attempt to break Zander and Selena had failed. That foolish
vampire was planning to repeat the same mistake. It was reckless. Even Selena's refusal to marry God
Kaelvor proved how unshakable her connection to Zander Blake was. Their bond was far stronger than either of them could fathom.
Damon's grip on the trident tightened, his knuckles whitening as his confidence remained unshaken. "This time, my plan won't fail," he said with venomous certainty, his voice a dangerous whisper. "She will fall, and when she does, the ancient wolf will be ours."
"What do you have in mind?" the Dark Alpha asked, his voice laced with intrigue, his brows furrowed as he leaned in closer.
"We have a new ally," Damon replied, a dark smirk playing on his lips. His tone was dripping with anticipation.
As he spoke, a shadow emerged
from the far corner of the room, and the moment the figure stepped into the dim light, the Dark Alpha's
expression twisted into a wickedet
grin. His eyes gleamed with malicious satisfaction. Now there was no way Selena and Zander could escape the fate that awaited them. Their resistance was about to shatter, and this new weapon was the final nail in their coffin.
Chapter 664
*Selena*
I was still confused, trying to piece together what was going on in Zander's mind.
"Baby, just sit and relax," he said, his tone calm but firm. "Leave the rest to me."
Easier said than done. How could I possibly relax when I knew our lives-and the fate of so many others -hung by a thread?
"Zander, I still don't get it," I pressed, suspicion creeping into my voice. "How is it that you've found Damon but still haven't caught him? What are you not telling me?"
His jaw tightened slightly, but he met my gaze with steady resolve. "I haven't pinpointed his exact location yet, but I'm close," he replied, his voice laced with determination.
Before I could question him further, Maddox entered the room.
"Alpha," he greeted, touching his heart and bowing respectfully. Then his eyes shifted to me. "Luna." He repeated the gesture with the same reverence.
I gave him a soft smile and a nod in acknowledgment, though my mind was already racing.
"What's the update, Maddox?" Zander asked, cutting straight to the point.
"Alpha, as you instructed, our people have been keeping a close watch on Alpha Albert..." Maddox began.
That caught my attention instantly. My curiosity spiked, and I leaned forward.
"And?" I asked, unable to hold back, my voice urging him to continue.
Maddox turned to meet my gaze briefly before continuing.
"Alpha was right. We managed to follow him up to a certain point, but then..." He hesitated, his
expression clouding. "It was as if magic happened-he vanished without a trace."
"Where is he now?" Zander asked sharply, his tone commanding.
"He returned about an hour later. He's back at the pack house now," Maddox informed, his words deliberate.
Zander hummed, a deep, contemplative sound, as his eyes darkened with thought.
"The place where he disappeared," I interjected, unable to contain myself. "Take me there. I want to investigate it myself."
"No, Selena," Zander responded immediately, his voice firm and resolute. "Not you."
I frowned, my frustration rising, but he caught my expression and softened, his eyes pleading for my understanding.
"You can't go there, Selena," he said, his tone gentler now but no less determined. "We don't know how dangerous it could be, and I won't risk it. Not when you're pregnant."
"But Zander," I tried to protest, but he didn't even let me finish.
"Selena, just leave it to me," he said firmly. "Trust me, I've got the best investigators on it." His confidence was reassuring, but I still sighed, knowing how stubborn and domineering my alpha mate could be.
"What's the plan now?" I asked, curiosity getting the better of me. I doubted Zander would let my father, Alpha Albert, off the hook so easily after his suspicious behavior.
Zander turned to Maddox, who was standing silently but alert, watching his alpha closely.
"I've always been suspicious of Alpha Albert's strange behavior after the fall of his pack," Zander said, his voice sharp and decisive. "Keep a close eye on him and track all his movements. If you find anything remotely threatening, take him into custody immediately-don't wait for my orders."
Oh, now it all made sense. That's why Zander had kept my father around without openly questioning him. He already suspected something was off but was playing it cool to figure out my father's true intentions. And now, thanks to my father's arrogance-or stupidity-we were close to uncovering Damon Shadowborne's location and maybe even the Dark Alpha's as well.
"I agreed to the marriage proposal just to keep them close. Even when I'd forgotten everything, I still didn't trust him," Zander admitted. I narrowed my eyes at him. Did he even realize he was going to marry my sister?
Sensing my glare, Zander quickly raised his hands in surrender, his voice tinged with desperation as he explained, "I had no intention of marrying your half-sister, my mate."
His earnest tone and the panic in his eyes made me smile, even during this tense discussion.
Maddox looked at his alpha with deeply confused eyes, clearly struggling to piece everything together.
He had no idea what more was happening or how they had all been made to forget the past. We hadn't had time to explain it all to him.
"I'll explain everything to you, Maddox," Zander assured, noticing the puzzled expression on his beta's face.
It was a mark of a good alpha to
never hide the truth from his right hand, his beta. But Zander and Maddox's bond went deeper than just the typical relationship between an alpha and beta of the Moonglow Pack. They had been childhood friends, and their connection was one of unshakable trust and loyalty. They were more like brothers than just leader and second-in-command.
"Now it's our turn to take the shot," Zander suddenly announced, his eyes gleaming with determination as
if he'd read my mind. "And this time, we'll play our best game."
I could only hope he was right. This time, we had to hit the bullseye.
Chapter 665
My World
I agreed to his plan; it seemed foolproof. But my only worry lingered-there was still no sign of Oliver, my half-brother. If the rest of my family was alive, then surely Oliver must be alive as well. The thought sent a shiver through me as I remembered what Zander had told me about him and the depths of my family's darkness.
I struggled to accept that my entire family could be so corrupt, so deeply involved in criminal activities... except my mother. How could I have come from such a twisted lineage?
"What's wrong, mate?" Zander asked, his voice gentle yet concerned, as if sensing the storm brewing inside me.
I hesitated, unsure of how to express the turmoil in my heart. What would he think of me-his mate- coming from such a wicked family?
"Umm... Zander, I was thinking about Oliver," I said, my voice barely above a whisper. "There's still no trace of him."
Zander nodded knowingly. "I've thought about that too. Don't worry," he assured me, his tone steady. "My people are already looking into it."
He glanced at Maddox, who gave a subtle nod of confirmation, further easing the tension in the room. There was a knock at the door, and Maddox groaned, his frown deepening as he stood. The look on his face said it all-his mate was here.
"What's wrong?" I asked, amused by his odd reaction.
"Please don't tell Blair anything about this," he implored, turning to Zander with a pleading expression. "But why?" I protested, my brows furrowing. "She's your mate, after all. She deserves to know everything that's going on, especially as the Beta's mate."
Zander remained silent, his expression unreadable. He didn't intervene, perhaps torn between favoring his sister and respecting his Beta's wishes.
"I know, Luna," Maddox admitted with a sigh, "but she's stubborn. If she finds out, she'll insist on getting involved, and I can't let her. I don't want her walking into something dangerous."
I couldn't help but roll my eyes. These alphas and betas were ridiculously overprotective when it came to their mates, acting as if we were made of glass and would shatter at the first sign of risk.
"That's ridiculous," I said flatly.
Blair was just as strong as I was. I knew because we she-wolves had more strength in our minds than in our hearts, and that's what matters most in a war.
"Yes, Beta maddox," Zander supported me as he stood beside me and wrapped his arms around my shoulder. "My Luna is right. "And he gestured toward the door. "Go and call her in."
Maddox sighed, knowing he couldn't defy his Alpha's orders. Reluctantly, he walked to the door and cracked it open, revealing Blair's beautiful face. Her curious eyes studied him, a playful smile already forming on her lips.
"Come inside," Maddox whispered softly, and Blair's grin widened in triumph as she stepped through the doorway.
"So, what's going on, guys?" she asked in her usual playful tone, her gaze flitting between Zander and me. Zander and I exchanged amused smiles, while Maddox's expression remained unreadable.
"Blair, have a seat," Zander said, gesturing to a chair nearby.
Blair glanced at Maddox, who avoided her gaze, his face a mask of hesitation. Sensing the tension, she didn't argue and settled into the chair without a word.
"It's time," I said softly, my tone laced with encouragement.
Zander nodded, inhaling deeply as if steeling himself for the weight of what we were about to share.
We needed to tell them everything. The secrets, the dangers, the battle looming ahead. This war wasn't just ours anymore-it was going to be all of us against fate.
"Oh my God, I can't believe this," Blair exclaimed, her voice filled with shock. "You mean to say the world is going to end?"
"Calm down, Blair," Zander said, his tone steady and reassuring. "We're here to discuss whether the
prophecy is true and, if it is, how we can stop it. So don't panic. We're in this together." en
Blair exhaled loudly, clearly trying to process everything. "But still... I haven't even started planning a family, and Maddox and I haven't even celebrated our first anniversary,” she said, her pretty face falling with disappointment. "There's so much I haven't done yet
in this life."
I stood and walked over to her, placing a comforting hand on her shoulder. "Don't worry, Blair," I said gently, meeting her eyes. "Nothing will happen to the world-my world."
My vow was more than just words; it was a promise etched into my very soul. As a descendant of the Moon Goddess and Queen of the Lunar Realm, I bore the responsibility for protecting this world. And I would do whatever it took to save it, even if the ultimate sacrifice was my own.
"You are not alone in this, Selena," Zander said, stepping up beside me. His presence was steady and comforting, and I smiled, knowing my alpha mate was my pillar of strength.
"Yes, Luna, we're all with you in this," Maddox added, his tone firm, while Blair nodded in determined agreement.
Suddenly, Maddox fell silent, his expression shifting as if receiving a mind-link.
"Alpha, we've detected some mysterious activity near the western border," he informed Zander, his voice serious.
Zander stiffened immediately. "Let's go, then," he commanded without hesitation.
"Let me come with you," I said urgently, stepping toward him.
"No, Selena," Zander insisted, his
tone firm but gentle. “Let me handle this. I'll update you once I know more. Without waiting for further discussion, he left the room with
Maddox in tow.
I sighed, watching them go.
"So, what are we going to do?" Blair asked, turning to me. The spark in her eyes mirrored my thoughts.
Clearly, she was on the same wavelength, ready to act despite the alpha's instructions.
Chapter 666
Desperate Prayer
"Blair, I'm telling you, this is a bad idea," I said, following her reluctantly as she led me down an unknown path along the outskirts, carefully avoiding the main routes where guards patrolled.
"Trust me, Selena, I've done this plenty of times," Blair replied confidently, pushing aside a low-hanging branch. "Back when my father was the alpha, I used to sneak out all the time to escape his dictatorship."
I rolled my eyes. "That was years ago, Blair. The pack's security isn't the same now."
She glanced back at me, realizing I had stopped in my tracks and sat down in the middle of the narrow trail, exasperated.
"What's wrong?" she asked, her voice softening with concern. "Are you tired? If you need to rest, we can, but we don't have much time if we want to help our mates."
I sighed and got back to my feet. "Blair, I still think this is a terrible idea. If Zander finds out we took this route, he'll be furious."
Her lips curved into a confident smirk. "If he finds out," she said, her tone teasing. "Don't worry. Nothing like that will happen." She spun back around, walking ahead without a hint of doubt. "Now, come on, unless you're too tired to keep up."
I muttered under my breath but followed her anyway. Deep down, I hoped she was right and that this would turn out okay.
But then, without warning, the air grew thick and foul, a nauseating stench filling my lungs. A dark, smoky haze began to creep through the trees, choking the atmosphere with its sinister energy.
Dark magic.
'Selena, be ready!' Arena screamed in my mind, snapping me into action.
Before I could shift, two witches materialized in the air, their forms cloaked in shadow and malice.
"Blair, get behind me!" I shouted, yanking her back as I whispered a spell under my breath. My hands tingled with power as I released the first strike, a glowing wave of magic aimed at the witches.
It seemed they had come prepared. Both witches struck simultaneously, their combined power shattering the protective circle I had hastily cast around Blair and me in mere seconds.
Before I could react, a gleaming, enchanted rope shot out, coiling around us tightly, binding us in its unyielding grip.
Arena writhed within me, her energy surging as she tried to break free. 'Give me a few moments, Selena,' she assured, her voice strained but determined. 'I'm close to breaking this magic.'
But my immediate concern wasn't just the ropes-it was Blair.
The witches began dragging her away from me, her frightened eyes meeting mine as she struggled against their hold.
"Wait! Leave her alone!" I screamed, desperation lacing my voice.
One of the witches, the one with dark, matted hair, turned to me with a sinister smirk. "Who do you think you are to command us?" she sneered. "This girl is a lapha's
daughter, and her blood will make us stronger."

Her voice dripped with malice, and my heart pounded at the filth of her confession. My mind raced, the implications of her words twisting in my gut.
"Who sent you?" I demanded, shouting to stall them, praying to buy enough time for Arena to unravel their magic.
The witch chuckled darkly. "You think we'll answer your petty questions, wolf?" she mocked. “Your friend will die, and then you'll be next."
Blair let out a defiant growl, her bravery shining even in the face of danger, but it only enraged the witches further.
'Hurry, Arena!' I pleaded silently, straining against the magical bonds with all my might.
'Almost there,' Arena assured, her voice steady despite the chaos. But before her magic could shatter their binding spell, my heart nearly stopped.
My blood ran cold as I saw the other witch grab Blair's hair, yanking her head to one side with brutal force. Blair screamed, struggling against
her captor, but it was no use. The witch's canines elongated, sharp and deadly, and my eyes widened in horror.
Realization hit me like a bolt of lightning-they weren't ordinary witches. They were vampire hybrids.
Oh, Goddess. Panic surged through
me as I realized there was no time left. The witch was going to bite Blair and once she did, everything would be over.
I thrashed against the enchanted ropes, desperation clawing at my chest. "No! Stop!" I shouted, my voice raw with urgency.
But just as all hope seemed lost, a prayer formed on my lips, silent but desperate. Goddess, Help us, please.
As if the Goddess herself had heard my plea, two thunderous growls tore through the air, shaking the ground beneath us.
A massive black wolf and a powerful brown wolf charged into the clearing, their presence commanding and ferocious. My heart leaped with recognition.
Chapter 667
Countless Rounds
Lyon and Micah's presence alone was enough to strike terror into the witches' eyes. Before anyone could blink, the wicked witch was ripped away from Blair with savage force as Micah's massive paw slammed into her, sending her flying through the air. She crashed to the ground with a loud impact, a pained hiss escaping her lips.
Before Blair could hit the hard ground, Micah was already beneath her, his soft fur providing a cushion to break her fall. He let out a low, reassuring growl before gently nudging her to safety.
Then, without hesitation, Micah sprang to his feet and joined Lyon. Both wolves prowled toward the witches, their deep, menacing growls vibrating through the air —a deadly warning of the storm about to come.
The two witches staggered back, fear flickering across their faces, but they hadn't accepted defeat just yet. Their expressions hardened, and I could see the determination to fight still burning in their eyes.
Lyon and Micah prowled around them, circling like predators closing in on their prey. The air crackled with crazy tension.
The witches began chanting, their voices weaving a dark enchantment as they raised their hands, ready to strike. But before they could finish, their bodies stiffened, their hands frozen mid-air.
Confusion flashed through me. What just happened?
The sound of approaching footsteps made me turn, and my breath hitched as I spotted Freya emerging from the shadows, the pack warriors flanking her on both sides. With a single sweep of her hand, the witches' spell shattered.
A rush of energy surged through me as the bindings on Blair and me dissolved into nothing.
We were free.
Blair and I exchanged a look.
"Blair, you were told to stay at the pack house, but it seems you still haven't learned to follow instructions," Maddox growled, his voice thick with frustration. Shifting into his human form, he stormed toward Blair, completely unbothered by his nakedness. Blair stood frozen, her wide eyes blinking in shock as she stared at her furious mate.
“I... I—” she stammered, but Maddox shook his head slowly, dangerously. "Save it, little mate," he snarled.
Before she could utter another word, he grabbed her by the hips and hoisted her over his shoulder effortlessly.
"Alpha, I'm taking my mate to drill the danger protocol into her naïve mind," he declared, his tone sharp with frustration and anger mixed simultaneously.
Without waiting for a response, he strode off, leaving no doubt about what was in store for Blair. The raw intensity of his fear and fury lingered in the air-she had disobeyed him and nearly cost him his sanity. Now, she would face the consequences.
"Who sent you here to harm my mate and my sister? Tell me!" Zander demanded, his voice thunderous with rage.
Now in his human form, he stood before the captured witches, his piercing gaze locked onto them. One of his warriors swiftly handed him a pair of pants, which he pulled on without taking his eyes off the prisoners.
The witches refused to answer, their faces twisted in fury as they hissed defiantly. But they were powerless-Freya's enchantment had them completely under her control.
"I think Damon is behind this," I blurted out, my voice cutting through the tense silence.
Every gaze shifted to me at once.
Zander's expression darkened, his jaw tightening as his hands curled into fists.
"Take them to the dungeon. Torture them until they spill everything about their master," he ordered coldly.
At his command, the warriors dragged the struggling witches away while Freya reinforced their restraints with enchanted bindings, ensuring they wouldn't escape.
"Now, what should I do with you, mate?" Zander hissed, stalking toward me.
I bit my lip nervously. I had told Blair it was a bad idea. But if I blamed her now, she would be in even more trouble than she already was.
"What happened? Cat got your tongue?" he taunted, gripping my wrist and pulling me closer.
I glanced around, but there was no one left to come to my aid. My Alpha mate was furious, and I wasn't sure if he would listen to reason.
"Alpha, have mercy on your pregnant mate," I batted my eyes at him innocently.
He narrowed his eyes, a low growl reverberating from his chest. “Don't try to play games with me, Selena," he whispered. "For this grave mistake, I should lock you in our room and chain you to our bed so you never leave again and put yourself in danger."
I smiled shyly, knowing the effect I had on him.
"You love me that much?" I gasped dramatically, trying to make it seem real.
He was silent for a long moment before he finally chuckled. "You have no idea, mate, how much I love you."
"My ruthless alpha has a heart too," I murmured, wrapping my arms around his neck and letting my body fall against his strong, towering form.
"Don't change the topic, mate," Zander growled, his grip on my wrist like iron. "I'm not falling for it."
Oh, but he already had. His eyes had darkened, his breathing had deepened, and I knew exactly where this was heading.
"Alpha," I moaned, rising on my toes, inching closer to his mouth, my voice dripping with need. "Then what do you want me to do?" I ran my lips against his, teasing him, daring him to snap.
His fingers clamped around my chin, rough, possessive, tilting my head up so I had no choice but to look into his blazing eyes. "Beware of your actions when your Alpha is angry," he warned, his voice low, lethal.
But I didn't care. He was never hotter than when he was like this-furious, dangerous, on the edge of losing control. My back arched, my breasts pressing into his chest as I nipped at his lower lip, dragging my nails down his arms.
He snapped.
In a blink, I was slammed against the rough bark of a tree, my breath hitching as he caged me in, his body pressed hard against mine. His growl vibrated through
me as he gripped my thighs, yanking them apart.
"You think you can get away with this shit?" he snarled, his teeth grazing my jaw before he bit down just hard enough to make me gasp. "You're mine, Selena. And I'm about to remind you who the fuck you belong to. You are Alpha Zander Blake's mate and you need to understand this."
A sharp rip filled the air as my panties were torn away like they were nothing. His
hand wrapped around my wrists, pinning them above my head in a single grip. My head spun, my pulse racing as I realized he had already undone his pants.
Then, without warning, he thrust into me.
I cried out, my body arching against his, but he didn't relent-he drove deeper, harder, his grip unyielding. His breath scorched my ear as he growled, "Do you even realize how fucking worried I was, thinking if I was late, something would happen to you? Do you realize it?
I knew I was guilty for making him worry, even though it hadn't been my intention.
I wanted to make it up to him, so I let him pour his anger and desire for me into
this passionate connection, taking everything he gave with gratitude.
I stretched my neck, my lips meeting his in a deep kiss, trying to calm the storm raging inside him. And just like that, he melted into me, his anger fading as he lost himself in the kiss.
He kept pounding into me relentlessly, his grip bruising, his thrusts punishing. I clung to him, my legs locked around his hips, keeping him buried deep inside me, where he belonged-where I needed him.
"Oh, my mate,” I moaned, my nails raking down his back. "I love it when you fuck
me angrily." I admitted mindlessly.
A guttural groan tore from his throat.
"Oh yeah?" His voice was pure sin, rough and edged with dark amusement. “I
didn't know my mate loved it rough and hard."
His movements turned brutal, each thrust stealing my breath, sending me spiraling higher. My cries of pleasure echoed through the forest loud enough for the entire pack hell, even the border sex with
guards-to hear me havingel.ne
their Alpha. But I didn't care. Nothing mattered except the raw unyielding pleasure this beast of a man was dragging out of me.
My climax hit me like a tidal wave, my body locking around him as I screamed his name. He followed with a savage growl, spilling deep inside my desperate, greedy heat, his body trembling against mine.
As I came down from my high, panting and spent, I found him still staring at me
with that same fiery intensity. I chewed my lip nervously, knowing that look all too
well.
"I'm not done with you, mate," he whispered darkly against my ear, his teeth
grazing my throat in warning.
A shiver ran down my spine.
I knew I was in for another long, merciless and passionate round.
Or perhaps... countless rounds.
Chapter 668
My Naughty Mate
*Maddox*
I was already worried to death, and my naïve little mate seemed to love driving me insane by constantly throwing herself into danger. Was it so damn difficult for her to understand how much I loved her? We werewolves, especially Alpha and Beta males, were instinctively protective of their mates-we treasured the goddess's gift more than our own lives. And for me, Blair was my heart, my reason to breathe. Seeing her in trouble made me want to set the world on fire just to keep her safe.
"Little mate!" I growled, throwing her onto our bed. "You should know better than to put yourself in danger. Or do you need me to remind you just how brutal your punishment can be, huh?"
Her doe-like eyes blinked up at me innocently, and for a moment, I nearly abandoned my plan to teach her a lesson.
"But I just wanted to help you, honey," she pouted, and damn it, I wanted to devour those red lips right then and there.
I shook my head, forcing myself to resist the temptation she was stirring within me. I knew all her tricks-she was well aware of how easily she could affect me.
"Baby, it would be more helpful if you don't distract me while I'm doing my duty," I drawled, my voice edged with warning. "When Zander and I sensed that you and Selena were in danger, we abandoned a crucial lead on the unusual activity at the border to come find you. That wasn't helping at all."
She didn't seem to understand that she was my greatest weakness. My enemies could use her to break me-capture her, hold her hostage, and force me to my knees. And if they ever demanded my life in exchange for hers, I wouldn't hesitate.
Regret flickered in her eyes, and she looked like she was on the verge of tears as she whispered, "I'm sorry, honey. From now on, I'll always let you know before doing something like that."
Oh, darling, I know you too well to believe your words.
My mate was too stubborn to listen to reason. She made me follow her around day and night just to ensure her safety. Whenever I was on duty or had to travel across the world for business or any other pack matters, I assigned her a bodyguard but she was too headstrong to let anyone stop her from doing whatever she pleased.
"Let's see how long you actually keep this promise, baby," I smirked, knowing exactly what was on her mind when she bit her lip.
I leaned back into the lounge chair in the corner of our room, my voice turning commanding. “Now, come here and sit on my lap."
She rose slowly, deliberately, her hips swaying as she made her way toward me.
Stopping just in front of me, she gazed at me with those alluring eyes, as if I were her favorite treat and she was about to devour me.
I patted my lap, a silent reminder of my command. Her cheeks flushed a soft pink before she finally obeyed, settling onto my lap. Her arms looped around my neck as she
leaned in, her intoxicating scam net
wrapping around me like a drug. Instinctively, I took a deep inhale, my Wolf, Micah, stirring with excitement. He wanted me to forget everything else-to claim our mate, to mark her, to make sure our scent was all over her, inside her.
But I had other plans.
The way Blair looked at me, I knew she was thinking the same thing as Micah.
Oh, my little mate, it's been far too long since your last punishment. Time to refresh your memory.
I grabbed her wrists, tearing them
from around my neck as I flipped her over in one swift motion. She landed stomach-down across my thighs
with a surprised gasp. Her long set
dress, slit at the thigh, slid up as I lifted it higher, exposing smooth skin. In a single snap, her panties were gone, ripped apart like they were nothing.
My mouth watered at the sight of her bare, plump ass. I covered one cheek with my palm, feeling the warmth and softness seep into my skin. Slowly, I kneaded the flesh, savoring the way she trembled beneath my touch. A quiet moan escaped her lips, and I smirked.
She was enjoying this. But I had only just begun-she had a long way to go.
Then, without warning, I brought my hand down in a sharp slap.
She yelped, her body jerking as her ass bounced under my palm, the skin
blooming red with the imprint of my fingers.
Fuck! The sight of her was so fucking alluring, so downright sinful, that I nearly came in my pants. My breathing quickened. My heart began pounding like a war drum and every drop of blood rushed south.
Oh, Goddess, help me I was losing control far too fast.
Chapter 669
Seducing My Mate
I felt like my breath had stopped. A sharp gasp left me as I realized just how hard
and thick she had made me beneath these fucking trousers.
Micah purred and whined in my head, restless, demanding.
I swallowed hard, my sanity warring with my instincts, but there was no resisting the fire consuming me from the inside out.
"Beautiful," I groaned, my eyes locked onto her round, plump ass.
My rough palm traced over the softness of her skin, savoring the contrast. She moaned, pressing into my touch, her body trembling beneath my hand. That sound-it drove me mad.
Then, my jaw clenched, muscles tightening as my hand lifted-and came down hard against her supple skin.
Smack!
"Ahh!" she cried out.
Fuck. That sound. That reaction. She was doing this on purpose, pulling me deeper into the abyss of need.
I immediately soothed the sting with slow, deliberate caresses, massaging her warm flesh. I couldn't get enough of touching her. She was my drug-my addiction.
"Count," I ordered, my voice deep, dangerously low. "Or I won't stop until you reach ten."
She lifted her head slightly, looking over her shoulder, her lips caught between her teeth as she nodded.
Smack!
Another sharp spank landed, this time on her right cheek, the sound echoing in the room.
Her breath hitched, her voice shaky as she whispered, "Two."
I caressed her burning skin again. Before she could recover, I spanked her left ass cheek so hard that she squirmed, and I could feel her cum flowing down her legs. She had just climaxed so hard on my knees, her wetness soaking through my pants.
I waited longer this time for her to recover as waves of orgasm kept hitting her deep in her core. Her body trembled as she gasped and moaned continuously. I kept massaging her back, caressing and soothing my mate.
She counted again when she was finally able to speak.
"Three."
"Good girl," I said, massaging and kneading her burning ass cheek. Then, I spanked her hard again. She moaned and cried, completely at my mercy.
By the time I was done punishing her, taking turns on each of her ass cheeks, she was left panting hard, almost breathless. I could feel her wetness flooding between her legs. I was sure it had left a wide, damp spot on my pants, soaked with her juices.
My hands were still on her cheeks. I kneaded and massaged them in turn with both hands, trying to ease the pain from my punishment. By the reaction her body gave me, I knew she loved this punishment.
My hand crawled down, parting her thighs and reaching toward her wet pussy. She gasped when I ran my finger over the edge of her vagina, parting her folds and swiping my finger through her wetness.
"Oh, Maddox!" she moaned, her eyes closed, and her heartbeat quickened-I could hear it. She pushed herself onto my finger, and I knew exactly what she needed. So I gave it to her.
I groaned as I pushed my thick finger into her tight hole.
"Maddox," she cried again, making me proud that I was the one pleasuring her.
"Yes, baby girl, moan my name when you come on my fingers and mouth," I groaned. "You're so beautiful and so wet. I can't wait to taste you."
She was so fucking wet, clenching around my finger so tightly. My eyes zeroed in on her pink, glistening flesh, my mouth watered. I needed to taste her.
I pulled out my finger, and she whimpered in protest.
"Have patience, princess," I chuckled as I helped her to her feet. I could feel her shivering, her legs trembling beneath her. Then, with a slight push, guided her onto the bed She fell onto her elbows, breathless and waiting.
"Remove your dress," I ordered her.
SV
She obeyed quickly, pulled her dress over her head, and threw it aside. I groaned when her white lacy bra covering her full plump breast came into sight.
She was looking up into my eyes, panting heavily.
I walked closer to her and hovered over her, brushing my lips against hers.
"Now, I need to taste you, my little mate," I confessed before pressing my lips harder against hers, kissing her senseless.
She wrapped her arms around my neck, her fingers digging into the hair at my nape as she moaned into my mouth. I left her lips only to let my mouth trail lower, kissing her chin, neck, and collarbone.
Sucking on her nipples, I left sloppy, wet kisses down her tiny waist and stomach. nibbled near her belly button before finally reaching my destination-her weeping, soaked core, waiting for my mouth to pleasure it.
Chapter 670
Pleasuring My Mate
I ran the tip of my tongue over her inner thighs, licking her soft, silky skin. She closed her eyes, her head rolling back on the pillow.
"Ah... Oh..." she began moaning.
"Oh, baby, I haven't even started yet. Tell me you want me." Though I already knew the answer, I asked her anyway.
"Y-Yes! Oh yes, I want you, hubby. I need you!" she gasped.
I smiled at her desperate response. She was all mine-only mine.
I parted her folds with my tongue, licking her clit, and was rewarded with a sweet moan.
Capturing her sensitive bud between my teeth, I flicked it ever so slightly.
"Oh, goddess! You're killing me, Maddox," she cried.
I smirked at the sound of my name falling from her sweet, intoxicating lips.
Catching her clit between my lips, I sucked hard while she rubbed herself against my face—an intoxicating sight that sent pleasure surging through me.
I licked along her soft edges before sliding my tongue inside her tight, needy hole. She became a moaning mess beneath me, and I reveled in the way she surrendered to my touch.
She was at my mercy, and I would make her come on my tongue, in my mouth, and all over my face.
I sucked hard on her core while my tongue explored inside her. I felt her clenching around me I knew she was close.
Her back arched off the mattress, her weight supported by her hands as she watched me devour her.
Her legs trembled as I gripped them tighter, throwing them over my shoulders. Her entire body shook with anticipation. She was right on the edge.
I trailed my hands up her thighs, gliding over her flat stomach before reaching her breasts. Pinching her nipple hard, I felt her tense beneath my touch. She groaned, her body quivering, and then she cummed-shattering completely-coating my mouth with her sweet honey.
I drank her in like a man starved, savoring her sweetness as if it were the only thing that could ever satisfy me. She tasted addictive, intoxicating-I could never get enough of it.
She panted, breathless and trembling, but I didn't stop. I kept lapping at her, taking in every last drop of her essence.
Grabbing her ass, I lifted her slightly, making her sit up as I rose to my feet.
Gripping the nape of her neck, I pulled her closer, crushing my lips against hers.
I kissed her deeply, letting her taste herself on my lips. She responded with urgency, her passion igniting once more.
As I plunged my tongue into her mouth, she moaned, her desire reigniting as she tasted herself on my tongue.
I felt her breathing steady as her strength slowly returned after our intense moments together. She pulled away, causing a moment of confusion to stir within me, but the mischievous smirk on her lips quickly erased any doubt. Without warning, she pushed me back, and I lay flat against the bed, anticipating whatever came next.
"Now it's my turn to pleasure you, hubby," she whispered with a sultry tone. My lips curled into a grin as I relaxed, folding my hands behind my head, my eyes never leaving her as she gracefully knelt before me.
Her fingers slid down the zipper of my pants, and watched, every muscle in my body tense with anticipation: Her movements were deliberate, almost teasing, as she pulled my pants down slowly, Ker teasing pace making my breath catch. My gaze never left her as I became acutely aware of her every
action, my body betraying my desire.
When she removed my boxers, a smile played on her lips as my body responded instinctively, proud and fully erect, the sensation of the air around me making the tension unbearable.
Her fingers traced my length, a contrast between her small hands and my thick girth. She licked her lips, her gaze fixed on me, and I could feel the pull of her desire as she leaned closer. Her tongue flicked out, brushing lightly against nay skin, sending a wave of pleasure through me.
"Fuck!" I groaned, unable to hold back the rush of sensation. The feel of her touch, so deliberate, so intense, made it hard to think straight. My head spun as my body demanded release, and I knew it wouldn't take long before I lost control.
The next moment, her mouth was on me, and I gasped at the warmth of her touch. She moved slowly at first, her lips caressing me with soft precision. I couldn't help but groan, my hands instinctively threading through her hair as she continued, deepening the rhythm. I thrust into her mouth, and she took me deeper, her hands guiding me as I could hear her breaths hitch.
"God, you feel incredible," I muttered, closing my eyes as the sensation overwhelmed me.
She smiled, a wicked glint in her eyes. "I'm not done yet," she teased, her movements becoming more urgent. My hips jerked and I thrust deeper, down her throat, and heard her gagging.
Oh goddess! Those sexy sounds she made only drove me to the edge.
I could feel the tension building, my hips instinctively thrusting forward, unable to hold back.
"Wait," I groaned, needing more. "Let me have you..."
I pulled her gently away, watching her with hooded eyes as I laid her down on the bed, hovering over her.
"You're mine," I whispered, my hands gripping her thighs. "Let me show you what you do to me."
Her chest rose and fell with quick breaths as I entered her with a hard and urgent thrust, feeling the heat of her body enveloping mine.
"Yes, hubby, I want you," she moaned, her hands clawing at my back, urging me deeper. "Give me a baby!"
"Oh, yeah?! You want to get pregnant with my pup?" I grunted as I thrust harder. Goddess, imagining her pregnant and carrying my pup was driving an insane primal urge in me to do everything to fulfill her wish tonight.
I moved with urgency, every thrust a mixture of need and desire, and her voice echoed in the room. "Don't stop. Please..."
The heat between us intensified, and I could feel the tension building to an unbearable peak. "I can't... I'm—"
"Give it to me," she whispered, her voice a desperate plea. "I want all of you." Her words shattered me, and with one final thrust, we both let go, our bodies trembling in the aftermath as we collapsed into each other's arms.
"I love you, little mate," I murmured, my hand resting gently on her cheek.
She smiled softly, tracing her fingers along my jaw. "I love you too, always."
