Setting The Trap

*Damon*

"Lord Damon, my witches have been captured by Alpha Zander Blake," Cassandra whimpered, her voice trembling with fear. "I fear the ruthless Alpha King will show them no mercy, and I'll lose my most skilled warriors."

Cassandra had always been loyal to me. Even when I wasn't in control of the vampire kingdom, she had stood by me, ready to assist in any way, her army of witches at my disposal for any war I commanded.

"Don't worry, Cassandra," I reassured her, trying to offer comfort. "Their sacrifice won't be in vain. I will take revenge on Alpha Zander Blake. His downfall is only beginning."

She shook her head slowly, her eyes distant, as if grappling with some unsettling thought. "No, Lord Damon," she murmured, her voice softer now, almost a whisper. "I have a feeling... something very bad is coming. I advise you to be cautious when making your move against the Alpha King and his family."

I gritted my teeth. How dare this witch try to offer me advice? I resisted the urge to lash out. I needed her and her witches to achieve my goals, and once I had what I wanted, I would show her and the rest of them their place.

Just as I was about to dismiss her and send her back to the vampire kingdom, the dark Alpha arrived, accompanied by Oliver-Alpha Albert's son.

"What brings you here, Oliver?" I asked, grinning. Every time he came, he brought good news.

"Everything is set according to plan, Damon," he replied, that filthy smirk plastered across his face.

It still amused me how he and Selena shared the same blood. She was an angel -pure, selfless while he was the complete opposite, indulging in nothing but darkness and deceit.

Yes, I remembered everything about Selena the moment the spell was broken- right as I was worshipping the Warlock God.

"That's good," I nodded.

"But there's a problem," he added, his smirk fading slightly. "The witches captured by Alpha Zander-they could spill everything about us." There was a hint of fear in his voice, and it irritated me.

I was sick of hearing my allies tremble at the mention of that so-called Alpha King. He was no match for me, yet somehow, he had managed to instill fear in all of them.

"Cassandra, I need you to deal with this problem," I commanded, turning to the witch.

"Don't worry, Lord Damon," she replied, her voice cold and devoid of emotion. "I have full faith that my witches would rather die than utter a single word against me or you."

"If you say so," I murmured in a dangerously low tone, my gaze locking onto hers. She understood exactly what betrayal meant—and the consequences that came with it.

"What is your next command for us?" she asked.

"We will wait for the right moment, just as planned," I smirked. "Then, we will attack the Moonglow Pack."

With Alpha Albert's help, we had

already infiltrated their security. That was why the Dark Alpha could enter undetected and unleash havoc whenever he pleased. Our plan was nearly complete. We could strike at any time, but we were waiting for the God of Destruction's instructions.

He had assured us that he would remove Selena from the pack before the attack, ensuring she remained unharmed. After all, we needed her alive for her wolf.

The ancient wolf, Arena, was the key to the power we all sought. The only

question was: Who would be strong enough to claim it? Only time would answer

it.

"My father, Alpha Albert, is going to

let the Dark Alpha enter the pack again," Oliver explained, his voice laced with twisted excitement. "He'll wreak havoc, kill more pack members, and then Anne will step in

to create a misunderstanding net

between Zander and Selena. After that, they'll pin the blame on her for the murders. Zander will have no choice but to cast her out of his pack-and his life. Then, she'll have nowhere to go but back to her realm."

He spoke as if he had devised the plan himself, boasting like some cunning mastermind.

Idiot werewolf.

"Alright, now leave and make sure the plan is executed flawlessly," I

commanded, dismissing them with a wave of my hand. Their presence bored me.

I had no patience for their pathetic faces anymore. It was time to focus on

something far more important-honing my powers.

"Understood, Lord Damon,"

Cassandra bowed gracefully, her

dark robes billowing as she gathered the silken end of her cloak over one shoulder. The deep emerald fabri shimmered faintly in the dim torchlight, embroidered with

intricate symbols of ancient

Her jet-black hair cascaded down her back, framing a face that was both ageless and terrifyingly beautiful, her piercing violet eyes glowing with an otherworldly intensity.

Oliver followed her, leaving without a word.

Finally, I was alone.

The time was drawing near. Soon, I would reclaim everything that had been stolen

from me thousands of years ago. Once I seized control of this world, my reign would begin again-stronger, deadlier, and eternal.

Chapter 672

Heartbreak

*Selena*

I didn't know why Zander had texted me to meet him at this hotel, but I hurried over, excitement bubbling inside me. Maybe he had a surprise planned, or maybe he just wanted us to have some intimate time together. Either way, the thought sent a thrill through me.

My heart pounded as I reached the room number he had mentioned. I smoothed down my dress, took a deep breath, and knocked on the door, waiting for him to open it.

A few moments passed before the door finally swung open. But instead of Zander, Anne stood in the doorway-her robe barely tied, revealing far too much skin beneath it.

My stomach dropped.

"Oh, Se... Selena..." she stammered, her voice laced with nervousness. She quickly pulled the robe tighter around herself, but the damage was already done.

A cold dread washed over me. "What... what are you doing here?" My voice came out hoarse, barely above a whisper.

Anne hesitated before forcing an awkward smile. "I... uh... I could ask you the same thing."

I narrowed my eyes. "I thought this was my husband's room."

"Y-yeah, it is," she said, swallowing hard. "He's... he's sleeping right now."

My breath caught in my throat as her words sank in. Anne-half-naked, standing

in my husband's hotel room-telling me he was asleep inside.

I pushed past her, my heart pounding painfully in my chest. The moment my eyes landed on the bed, my worst fears were confirmed.

Two empty whiskey glasses sat on the nightstand. And Zander... he was sprawled across the bed, completely naked, his body tangled in the sheets.

I gasped, my hands flying to cover my mouth. My entire world tilted.

No. No, this couldn't be real. The Goddess wouldn't be this cruel.

But the scent of Anne was everywhere on the sheets, in the air, on him. There was no denying what had happened in this room.

Tears burned behind my eyes as I stumbled back, my mind screaming for this to be a terrible misunderstanding. But the evidence was right in front of me. My mate... my husband... had betrayed me.

Without thinking, I shouted my mate's name.

"Zander Blake!" My voice shook with rage as I screamed. "Get up! Now!"

But he didn't move a muscle. He was still fast asleep, completely unaware of the storm raging inside me.

My fists clenched as I stared at him, lying there so peacefully. Did he enjoy his night with my half-sister so much that he was too exhausted to even wake up? The thought made my blood boil. My anger burned hotter than my heartbreak.

I grabbed the nearest pillow and swung it at his face-hard.

"Wake up and answer me!" I yelled, my voice cracking as tears streamed down my cheeks.

Zander groaned and shifted slightly before finally opening his eyes. He blinked sluggishly, as if waking from the deepest sleep.

Great. He had never been this exhausted after spending the night with me—even on the nights we made love multiple times.

A sharp pang of betrayal stabbed through my chest. Was my half-sister better than me?

"Babe?" he murmured groggily, rubbing his eyes. He squinted at me in confusion. "Why are you shouting? And why the fuck are you crying?"

He frowned and sat up, not bothered by his nakedness.

My breath hitched. Was he serious?

"Are you serious, Zander?" I sobbed, my voice thick with hurt. "You're asking me why I'm crying while you're lying here naked in a hotel room-with my half-sister-who is alse naked?"

My voice cracked as I bellowed again, my chest heaving. "What other reason could there be, Zander?! You betrayed me!"

Anne, who had been silent until now, suddenly mumbled, "Wait... half-sister?"

I didn't even look at her. I didn't care. She was nothing to me. I had long accepted that my family never loved me.

But him? The man who vowed to cherish me for eternity? The father of my child- the child I was carrying for the second time?

He was the one who truly shattered me.

Zander's face twisted in confusion before he turned to Anne. His eyes widened in horror as he finally took in her state.

"What the hell are you doing here? And why are you not wearing proper clothes?" he demanded, his voice laced with anger.

Anne, unfazed by his reaction,

crossed her arms over her barely covered chest and smirked. "Zander, stop pretending. We're engaged. It's perfectly fine for us to sleep together." en

Zander's expression darkened, his jaw tightening. "We are not engaged, Anne," he growled. "Our engagement was off the moment I found Selena again. When will you finally accept that?"

Anne's smirk faltered for a split second before she masked it with feigned innocence.

I clenched my fists, my nails digging into my palms as I fought back the storm of emotions threatening to consume me.

"Drop the act, Zander. You two can have each other now. Let me do you a favor and remove myself from the picture." My voice dripped with bitterness as I took a step back.

Was this what he wanted all along? To string me along, just to break me into pieces?

“Wait, baby—it's a misunderstanding! I have nothing to do with Anne!" Zander scrambled off the bed, reaching for me.

But I stepped away before he could touch me.

"Who should I believe, Zander? You? Or my own damn eyes?" My voice cracked, my heart shattering all over again.

His mouth opened, but I didn't wait for an answer. "I'm done with you, Alpha King." The words tasted like poison on my tongue as I spat them out.

Without looking back, I turned on my heels and stormed out of the room.

The moment I stepped out of the hotel, the weight of my heartbreak threatened to crush me. The pain was unbearable, suffocating.

So I ran.

I ran through the streets, past the towering buildings, past everything that reminded me of him-of us.

By the time I reached the packhouse, my legs burned, and my chest ached, but I

didn't stop.

I packed my things with trembling hands, shoving clothes into a bag without

caring.

This was the end of everything.

Chapter 673

Explanation

Just as I was about to step out, Maddox appeared at the doorway, blocking my path.

"Luna, wait! Where are you going?" he asked, confusion etched across his face.

I clenched my jaw, unwilling to explain.

"Luna, I have Alpha's orders. He told me to stop you-he's coming home to talk to you," he said, his tone firm, obeying his Alpha like the loyal Beta he was.

I let out a bitter laugh. "Tell him to go to hell. I don't care what he has to say-I'm leaving, and that's final."

Maddox exhaled heavily, his expression torn. "Please, Luna,” he pleaded. "Don't leave without talking to him first."

I glared at him, my eyes burning with the pain I was barely holding in. "Do you even know what he did to me?" I spat, my voice trembling.

Maddox hesitated before answering. "Luna, I don't know what you saw or what you think happened," he admitted, sincerity clear in his voice. "But I do know one thing-Alpha loves you more than anything. He wouldn't do something like this to you."

I shook my head, scoffing bitterly. "You expect me to just give him a chance to explain?"

His eyes softened. "Yes. Please, Luna."

The desperation in his voice made me falter. With an exhausted sigh, I turned back into the room, throwing my bags onto the bed before collapsing onto it.

Tears spilled freely as I buried my face into the pillow, letting the ache in my heart

consume me.

"Mom!" Austin's sweet voice cut through the heaviness in my chest, soothing me like a balm on an open wound.

I quickly wiped my tears before he could see them, but his curious eyes blinked up at me in confusion as he ran to the bed and climbed up beside me.

I pulled him into my arms, holding him close. "It's nothing, baby boy," I murmured, forcing a smile. "I was just watching a sad movie, and it made me emotional."

Austin sighed dramatically. "Oh, Mom!" he groaned, making me giggle at his adorable expression while my eyes were still wet. "Movies aren't real. You shouldn't cry over them."

"Alright, wise one," I chuckled, kissing his cheek.

Just then, the door opened again. My body tensed the moment Zander stepped inside.

"Dad! You're back!" Austin's face lit up with excitement. "How about we go to the laser light show by the lake? It's been so long since we had a family outing!" he complained, pouting slightly.

I ran my fingers lovingly through his soft hair.

Zander, however, remained serious. "We'll go another time, Austin," he said firmly. "Right now, I need to talk to your mom about something important."

Austin's face fell with disappointment, and he turned to me with hopeful eyes. My heart squeezed at his expression.

I cupped his face gently. "You go play with Aunt Blair for a bit, and I'll come join

you soon. Then we'll go to the lake, okay?" I promised.

His small shoulders relaxed, and he nodded. "Okay, Mom."

Sliding off my lap, he ran out the door toward Blair's room.

As soon as we were alone, Zander turned back and locked the door behind him.

But my resolve remained firm-I wasn't going to forgive him so easily.

*Zander*

"Selena, baby, trust me," I took a step closer, but she held up a hand, stopping

me.

"Don't come any closer," she snapped. "Just finish whatever you have to say quickly." Her glare burned with fury, and even Lyon looked at me with anger. How could I have made such a stupid mistake?

That afternoon, I had received a message from Anne, claiming she needed to discuss something urgent about her pack. I wanted to avoid meeting her, but she insisted it wouldn't take much time and that she genuinely needed my help. She demanded privacy, and when I went to see her at the hotel, I drank only one glass of whiskey-and suddenly,

I lost consciousness.

But I knew, deep in my soul, that nothing could have happened between Anne and me. Even in my unconscious state, I could never betray my mate.

"Baby, I had Maddox test the whiskey, and they found traces of silver in it. That's what made me black out. But believe me, I didn't sleep with Anne," I pleaded, my voice desperate.

Selena's jaw clenched. "You were unconscious. How do you know nothing happened between you and Anne?" she challenged, her voice sharp with accusation.

I exhaled, raking a hand through my hair. "I had to be hard on Anne, and she finally confessed," I admitted, hesitating before finishing. "She did

it because... because she loves me and wanted me to marry her

"Did she really confess?" Selena's eyes widened, but I could still see the disbelief

lingering in them.

"Yes, I have my own ways," I nodded.

Th

Anne had initially insisted that I had

to take responsibility for her after supposedly sleeping with her. But when I demanded a medical examination, she turned pale. Nervous and cornered, she finally spilled her true intentions-she had orchestrated everything to create a misunderstanding between Selena and me. It was only when I used my Alpha tone that she broke completely.

Selena stared at me for a long moment before finally speaking. "Why should I believe you?"

I sighed, meeting her gaze. "Do you want me to make Anne confess in front of you?" I offered with confidence. I had nothing to hide, and if that's what it took to prove my innocence, I was more than willing.

"No need," she shook her head.

I stepped closer, searching her face. "Then what do you want, mate?" I asked, tilting my head slightly.

She lifted her chin defiantly. "Tell me everything," she demanded. "Everything— including the truth about the Dark Alpha."

Chapter 674

Unexpected Visit

"What do you want to know, baby?" I tried to coax her, my voice gentle. "I've already told you everything about the Dark Alpha."

But the fire in her eyes reignited, and I knew I was in deep trouble even before she bellowed-

"Alpha King, you better stop giving me lame excuses because I know that's not true." She gritted her teeth, her frustration palpable. "So, you better start talking!"

I sighed, knowing there was no way out of this. "Okay, my Luna," I bowed my head in surrender. "But please, promise me that after knowing the truth, you won't hate me."

Her eyes softened, and the sharp edges of her anger dulled. "I will never hate you, Zander," she whispered with such sincerity that it made my chest tighten. "But I need you to open up to me."

Her words struck deep inside my heart, and in that moment, I wanted to bare my soul to her, to tell her everything I hadn't told anyone.

"I was born with the blessing to be the invincible Alpha and rule the werewolf community. But every gift comes with its curse." I took a deep breath, my voice heavy with the weight of my past. "I got Lyon as my blessing... and the Dark Alpha as my curse."

Her eyes widened in shock, but she didn't interrupt. The expression on her face told me she wanted to hear more, so I told her everything.

"Oh, Goddess! That's why I noticed the similarities between you two," she gasped, the realization hitting her.

I nodded. "But still, you didn't fall for his tricks. You saw through him." My voice held pride, admiration for the woman standing before me.

"Of course," she stepped closer, her fingers wrapping around mine. "How could I ever mistake a devil for you? You're kind and strong, full of light. He might look like you, but he is nothing like you. And he can never be invincible the way you are."

I wished I could share her certainty, but the weight of reality crushed me.

"But there's no way to defeat him, baby," I sighed, despair creeping into my voice. "But there has to be a way, Zander," Selena insisted, her voice firm despite the worry in her eyes. "How can you just accept defeat?"

I let out a heavy sigh, running a hand through my hair as frustration gnawed at me. "If there were a way, I would have killed him long ago and protected my people. But I'm helpless, Selena." My voice dropped, thick with the weight of the truth. "I can't kill my own shadow without killing myself."

Her face paled, her lips parting in shock. This was why I never wanted to tell her. To tell anyone.

I took a step back, my heart twisting painfully. "Selena... if you don't want to stay with me after this, I understand." The words tasted bitter on my tongue, but I meant them.

Before I could say more, she pressed her small palm against my lips, silencing me. Her touch was warm, grounding me in a way nothing else could.

"Shut up, hubby," she scolded softly, her tone sweet yet unyielding. "Don't you dare think for a second that don't want to be with you. We find a way. Together. No matter what it takes, we'll save this world

Her unwavering faith in me should have comforted me, but instead, it made the weight on my shoulders heavier. I nodded, though deep inside, the odds felt impossibly stacked against us.

As I stood there, staring into the eyes of the woman who had

become my anchor, I knew one thing for certa-time was running out My people, my family, the love of my life.. their lives were all at stake. And as their protector, I had to make a choice.

"Baby, I will always protect you and our babies, vowed, my voice firm with unwavering determination. I cupped her face gently, my thumbs brushing her soft cheeks. "No matter what, I will always keep you safe."

Selena looked up at me, her gaze searching mine. "Zander..." she whispered, but

her voice was firm and resolute. "I believe you."

I pulled her into my arms, holding her close, feeling the steady rhythm of her heartbeat against my chest. I took a deep breath, inhaling her heavenly scent- my mate's scent.

I had to find a way. No matter the cost.

Suddenly, a loud bang echoed against the door, making me tense instantly. Selena furrowed her brows, glancing up at me before pulling away to unlock it.

I wasn't surprised to see the High Priestess standing before our room. She always had a way of interrupting our private moments.

"Now what?" I scoffed, exhaling sharply. "What is so urgent that you came here unannounced?"

Her sharp gaze flickered to me briefly before she turned to Selena. There was an urgency in her voice, one that made my muscles coil with unease.

"Selena, it's time to return to the Lunar Realm."

Chapter 675

A Race Against Time

*Selena*

My heart sank at my mother's sudden appearance. A wave of unease settled in my chest as I took in the solemn expression on her face.

"What's wrong, Mother?" I mumbled, dread creeping into my voice. "Why did you come so urgently to take me back to the Lunar Realm?"

She hesitated, her lips pressing together as if choosing her words carefully. "Selena, the day is coming... in three days," she finally said. "We need to find a way to save the world and to save-" She halted, stepping closer, her warm hand gently clasping mine. There was a softness in her gaze, a deep motherly affection that made my chest tighten. When she spoke again, her voice was barely above a whisper.

"You."

A sharp breath left my lips. Three days?! My mind raced, panic clawing at my chest. My hands instinctively moved to my belly, cradling the life growing inside me. Could my baby feel the storm raging inside me? The fear? The uncertainty? I swallowed hard, forcing myself to stay strong.

I needed time.

"What's going on?" Zander frowned, his sharp gaze shifting between me and my mother. He moved to step into our conversation, but I placed a gentle hand on his chest, silently pleading with him to let me handle this.

"I told you about the day... and now, it's coming." My voice was steady, but the weight of those words pressed heavily on my chest.

Zander's brows furrowed in concern. "What?"

I forced a reassuring smile, reaching for his hand. "Don't worry, hubby. Let me talk to my mother. We will find a way."

Turning back to my mother, I took a deep breath and met her gaze with determination. "Okay, Mother," I said. "Give me one day. Let me finish what I started here, and then... I'll return to the Lunar Realm."

Her expression darkened, and she shook her head firmly. "I don't think that's a good idea, my dear." Her voice was heavy with urgency. "We've already lost too much time. We cannot afford to delay any longer."

I opened my mouth to protest, but her next words sent a chill down my spine.

"I have spoken to the God of Destruction. He has agreed to marry you, Selena. He will save the Lunar Realm."

The air seemed to leave my lungs. "What?" I whispered, my mind reeling.

Seeing the confusion in my eyes, she added quickly, "He promised, Selena. And gods never go back on their word."

Who knows? This was my first time truly understanding what it meant to be a half- goddess, the descendant of the Moon Goddess. I had never dealt with gods and goddesses before, and now... marriage to the God of Destruction?

"That's not going to happen," Zander interjected, his voice laced with frustration. His jaw tightened, and I could feel the tension radiating from him.

I placed a gentle hand on his chest, my touch a silent plea for understanding.

"Please, Zander," I whispered, looking up into his stormy eyes. "Trust me on this."

He exhaled sharply, his chest rising

and falling with the weight of his emotions. His jaw clenched, and I could see the reluctance in his eyes,

the silent war raging within him. But

the silent

after a long moment, he finally

nodded, though every fiber of his being seemed to resist it

But then, an idea struck me like lightning. A spark of hope ignited in my chest.

I turned to Zander, excitement filling my voice. "Zander, I have a plan." My heart pounded as the words tumbled out. "And if it works, trust me... all our problems will be solved in one shot."

"I'm listening," Zander said, his gaze steady as he waited for me to explain.

I took a deep breath. "I have a feeling

that Anne didn't act alone. Someone must have instructed her." My mind raced as pieced everything together. "If we play along with their game pretend they were

venet

successful in breaking us apart-we might be able to lure out the real culprit. And maybe... Oliver will show up as well."

Zander's jaw tightened, his expression darkening.

"I don't know why, but I have a strong suspicion that Damon is involved," I continued. "He was always after me and my powers. His sudden silence... it doesn't sit right with me."

Zander's eyes flashed with understanding. "As you say, mate."

A slow, dangerous smile spread

across his lips. "Let's make our enemies believe they've won. Let them bask in their false victory-until their doom is right upon them. By then it'll be too late for them to regret their mistakes."

I matched his smile, a newfound determination settling in my heart.

A quiet sigh pulled our attention back to my mother. She gave a solemn nod, her expression unreadable.

"Then prepare to leave for the Lunar Realm,” she said firmly.

My heart clenched. The reality of what this meant hit me hard-I would have to be separated from my mate and our son. Even if it was temporary, a heavy unease settled in my chest, one I couldn't shake off.

Chapter 676

Significant Clue

*Zander*

Selena had left with the High Priestess, and now the world believed we had broken up. To them, she thought I had betrayed her and wanted nothing to do with me. The deception was working as planned, yet the weight of it settled heavily on my chest.

I had instructed my Gamma, Ethan, to keep a close watch on Alpha Albert and Anne, tracking their every move. If our suspicions were right, they wouldn't be able to hide for long. But for now, all I could do was wait.

And waiting was excruciating.

Hours had passed, and I still hadn't heard from Selena. The silence gnawed at me like a slow-burning fire. Lyon paced inside me, restless and agitated. Something felt wrong. We both knew the danger lurking in the shadows was closer than ever, and the longer we remained disconnected, the more unbearable the uncertainty became.

A sudden mind link broke through my thoughts.

'Austin finally fell asleep,' Blair's voice came through, laced with exhaustion. 'He cried himself to sleep after missing Selena all day.'

I closed my eyes, my jaw tightening. My son.

Selena had been devastated when she was forced to leave him behind. I had seen the pain in her eyes, the silent tears she tried to hide as she walked away from our crying child. And now, Austin had spent hours sobbing in her absence. He had his family around him, but Selena was alone in the Lunar Realm, surrounded by uncertainty and potential danger.

The thought sent a fresh wave of frustration crashing through me. I should have been able to protect her, to be by her side. But all I could do was wait-wait and hope she was safe.

I exhaled sharply, running a hand through my hair. My feet moved on their own, pacing the room in a desperate attempt to manage the unbearable weight pressing down on my chest. The silence was suffocating, each second stretching longer than it should.

Then, again, a mind link broke through my thoughts.

'Alpha, Vampire King Jasper has come to see you,' it was Maddox this time. Jasper?

I halted mid-step, my eyes narrowing. Why was he here now?

"Send him to my study," I commanded through the link, my voice sharp with intrigue.

'Okay, Alpha!' Maddox responded before the link faded.

Minutes later, a knock echoed through the room, followed by the door swinging open. Maddox stepped inside, leading the imposing figure of King Jasper.

The Vampire King carried his usual air of authority, his crimson eyes sharp as they met mine. Without wasting a second, he asked, "Where is Queen Selena?"

"She returned to the Lunar Realm," I replied evenly.

Jasper's expression darkened with surprise. "She went back? But why?"

"She had her reasons." My voice was firm, offering nothing more. I wasn't sure I trusted him enough to reveal our plan. "But what

Jasper studied me for a moment before speaking again. "Selena told me to track Damon's location. And I believe I am very close to finally finding him."

My body tensed at his words, my heartbeat quickening. "Really?" My brows lifted

in surprise, though deep inside, a wave of relief washed over me.

Finally, some good news.

"Where?" I asked, my voice sharper now, the promise of finally ending this looming conflict beginning to feel real.

Jasper smiled, a rare flicker of satisfaction crossing his features. "I'll show you,

Alpha. It's just a matter of time before we catch him."

He reached into his coat and pulled

out a sleek tablet, tapping the screen before turning it toward me. The video played, and I leaned in, watching closely. A shadowy figure moved swiftly through a dimly lit corridor, her cloak billowing behind her as she glanced around cautiously.

I smirked slightly, a surge of pride swelling in my chest. Selena had ensured that technology reached even the farthest regions of our world, seamlessly connecting the shifter and supernatural realms. Now, that innovation was playing a crucial role in our war.

Jasper pointed at the screen. "She's my royal witch, Cassandra. I've been suspicious of her for a few days. Now, I finally have proof that she's been secretly helping someone t planted a tracker in her staff, and I'm

close to finding out exactly where

she's going."

I narrowed my eyes, studying the video. "You think it's Damon she's helping?"

Jasper's expression hardened. "I'm

sure of it. Cassandra was fiercely

loyal to him. Even though she now

serves me

as king, she's never truly

accepted my rule. I've caught glimpses of resentment in her eyes, and always suspected she was

waiting for his return. This just confirms it."

His reasoning made sense. Damon had lived far longer than he deserved, evading justice time and again. If Cassandra was indeed helping him, then this could be the breakthrough we needed.

"Then what are we waiting for?" I said, urgency lacing my words. If Jasper's suspicions were correct, we were finally one step closer to ending this.

Chapter 677

The Hunt

We followed the signal through the dense forest near the vampire kingdom. The eerie silence of the woods, broken only by the rustling of leaves underfoot, heightened the tension in the air. Suddenly, the signal flickered and then disappeared completely.

"What's going on?" I frowned, glancing at Jasper.

His expression darkened as he tapped the tablet screen, trying to revive the lost signal.

"She might have entered a magical zone—an area where all technology and external energies become useless."

I exhaled sharply, scanning the surroundings. "Then how do we track her now?"

Jasper's jaw tightened. "That's exactly why Damon has remained hidden for so long." He turned to me, his crimson eyes filled with steely determination. "But I'll figure it out-I have to."

I could sense the weight of his words. Jasper knew as well as I did that Damon wasn't just in hiding-he was planning something. He would definitely be desperate enough to reclaim a throne that had never rightfully been his.

Suddenly, a mindlink from Ethan cut through my thoughts, and I was surprised that he could connect with me even though I was deep in the vampire kingdom.

'Alpha!' His voice carried urgency, laced with relief.

'Yes, Ethan,' I responded immediately.

'Thank the goddess, Alpha! I wasn't sure if this would work, but I needed to get this crucial information to you as soon as possible.' His words came in rushed, his breathing uneven. 'We've been tracking Alpha Albert, and he just entered a forest near the vampire kingdom.'

I stiffened at his revelation. So, Albert was here too. That explained how Ethan was able to connect with me-his proximity must have overlapped with the range of our mindlink.

'I'm already in the area,' I informed him. 'Send me your exact location.'

A moment later, Ethan shared his coordinates through the link, and my wolf, Lyon, immediately picked up the signal. His presence stirred in my mind, his deep growl vibrating through my consciousness.

'Let's go and get the traitor,' Lyon howled, the thrill of the hunt coursing through us.

Without wasting another second, I turned to Jasper. "We have a lead. Let's move."

Jasper met my gaze, his eyes flashing with determination. "Then what are we waiting for?"

With a silent nod, we sprinted into the darkness, our inhuman speed slicing through the still night air. The scent of treachery thickened with every step, a bitter taste lingering in my throat. We halted when we spotted Ethan, standing with one of his most trusted warriors from the Moonglow pack. Both of them immediately bowed upon seeing me.

'Where is he?' I asked still through the mindlink.

"He went inside that cave,' Ethan responded, his gaze fixed on the dark, gaping entrance ahead.

A cold breeze whispered from within, carrying an eerie silence that unsettled me.

The cave seemed abandoned, yet instinct warned me otherwise.

'And I saw a witch enter right after Alpha Albert,' Ethan added grimly.

Cassandra.

I exchanged a knowing glance with Jasper and gestured toward the cave's entrance. He gave a sharp nod, understanding without words.

"Let's go and catch them all," Jasper said in a low, determined voice, stepping forward from our concealed position.

I caught his arm before he could move. "Wait." My eyes scanned the

surroundings. “This place looks abandoned, but something feels off. If this is truly

a magical zone, there could be traps—or worse, invisible guards."

Jasper hesitated before nodding. "Then what do you suggest?"

"I have the ability to blend into shadows," I told him. My shadow was a demon, and though he had left me, I still carried some of the powers. "I'll go first, using the shadows of the trees and bushes to hide my presence. Once I confirm the path is clear, I'll signal you."

Jasper and Ethan exchanged glances before nodding.

"Be careful," Jasper murmured.

Without another word, I sank into the darkness, letting it swallow me whole as I advanced toward the cave.

As I stepped closer to the cave, I

sensed something strange. My suspicions were true. Demonic guards stood watch at the entrance, hiddenwell enough to be

ve

undetectable by the naked eye. But I could see their movements in the air-disturbances in the atmosphere,

faint ripples betraying their presence. I knew what I had to do.

Without hesitation, I let Lyon take over. As soon as the demonic guards spotted him, they shifted their physical forms, preparing to attack But Lyon was faster. In an instant, he tore through them with a brutal force, ripping them apart with ease. The sound of flesh being shredded filled the air, a reminder of the raw power he wielded. Once the last of them was dealt with, I sent a mindlink to Ethan, letting him know we were sticking to the plan. I would move ahead inside the cave.

A hesitant, but obedient, ‘Okay,' came from him in reply.

I returned to my human form and cautiously stepped into the cave. The darkness seemed endless, swallowing everything around me. My every step echoed in the hollow emptiness, a constant reminder of how alone I felt. But as I walked deeper into the cave, a mocking voice suddenly cut through the silence.

"I expected you to come here, but I didn't expect you to be so late!"

The cave lit up abruptly, casting eerie shadows against the walls. And there he was-Damon-standing before me with that smug smirk as if he'd been waiting for me all along.

Chapter 678

Power Hungry Vampire

I looked around, my gaze sweeping over Alpha Albert, Cassandra, and Oliver. They stood beside Damon, their expressions unreadable—but not surprised. So Selena was right. They had been waiting for us to split up, hoping to take advantage and defeat us separately.

I let out a low chuckle, my eyes locking onto Damon. "I also didn't expect you to be hiding like a coward," I taunted, a smirk curling at my lips. "The great ancient Warlock King-turns out he's nothing but a weakling."

Damon's eyes flared with fury as he slammed his golden trident against the cave floor, the impact sending a faint tremor through the ground. "Shut up!" he snarled. "I'm not a coward! I was waiting for the right moment."

"Whatever!" I snorted, my gaze flicking to his so-called army. "Yet here I am, alone, standing right in front of you in your own little domain-and you still need your pathetic lackeys to face me."

"We'll see who's pathetic," Damon sneered, lifting his trident, ready to strike. But when I didn't move when my smirk remained unshaken-his confidence wavered for a brief moment.

His hesitation didn't last long. A golden beam of magic shot toward me, crackling with raw power. But before it could reach me, another blast—this one a brilliant blue-collided with it midair. The impact sent shockwaves through the cave, the explosion ringing in our ears.

Everyone turned, stunned-everyone except me.

Jasper stepped forward, flanked by Ethan and my warrior, his expression smug. "Long time no see, brother," he taunted. His gaze flicked to Cassandra, who visibly stiffened under his scrutiny. "Oh, and look at that my royal witch is here too," he sneered.

Cassandra's face paled, guilt flickering in her eyes. She had been caught red- handed.

"It's good you also came," Damon said, his voice unwavering. "Now, I can finish all my enemies in one shot." He lifted his trident once more, determination blazing in his eyes.

"In your dreams," Jasper bellowed, gripping his staff. It elongated instantly, responding to his power, and he struck first.

I shifted into my wolf form without hesitation, allowing Lyon to take over. Across the battlefield, Cassandra launched her attack, her magic crackling through the air. But Lyon was unshaken. With a swift, brutal lunge, he caught her neck between his powerful jaws. A savage tug-and her head was torn clean from her body.

Albert and Oliver froze, terror flashing in their eyes, but fear alone wouldn't save them. Ethan and the warrior surged forward, taking them down with swift, merciless efficiency.

Meanwhile, I joined Jasper in battling Damon.

Jasper countered all of Damon's brutal attacks with equal efficiency, his movements swift and precise. I had to admit—his strength and resilience were remarkable. He truly deserved to be the Vampire King.

Damon, on the other hand, was nothing without the trident. All his power came from the ancient Warlock King.

Lyon let out a deep, guttural growl, and a pulse of magic shot from him, striking a distracted Damon square in the chest. He was thrown backward, his trident slipping from his grasp.

Jasper was faster. In a blink, he

seized the golden trident, holding it firmly. Damon's face twisted in realization-his power was tied to that weapon, and now, in Jasper's possession, he was utterly helpless.

I shifted back into my human form, stepping toward him. "We'll give you one last chance," I said coldly. "Tell us your true motive-and who else is helping you."

Damon sneered. “Even if I told you, you wouldn't be able to stop them. They are going to get what they want."

I clenched my jaw, my patience running thin.

"Don't push me, Damon," I warned. "Tell me everything, and maybe I'll consider letting you live."

He met my gaze and smirked. “Our goal is simple-wipe you and your pack out, turn all shifters into slaves, and role the world like kings." His grin widened. "And you can't do a damn thing to stop it."

Anger flared inside me. Without thinking, grabbed him by the throat. "That's never going to happen," growled. "You're going straight to hell, and soon, everyone who stood with you will join you there.

Lyon surged forward, taking partial control. My claws extended, fur spread across

my arms and chest, and without hesitation, I slashed Damon's chest wide open. His breath hitched-then stopped.

I exhaled sharply, turning to Ethan. He and the warrior had Albert and Oliver

restrained. The father and son were shaking like leaves.

"What should we do with them, Alpha?" Ethan asked.

I scoffed. "What do we do to traitors?"

Ethan gave a knowing nod before signaling to the warrior. In a swift move, they ended the two without hesitation.

As their bodies fell, I turned to Jasper. He held the trident tightly, and it pulsed with energy, glowing in his grip.

I narrowed my eyes at him, suspicion creeping in. Power could corrupt even the strongest. The last thing I needed was another power-hungry vampire bringing chaos into my world.

Chapter 679

Three Moons

"King Jasper," I murmured, keeping my gaze steady. "What are you going to do with the golden trident?" I asked, trying to read his expression.

His face remained unreadable, but his grip on the trident tightened. "This weapon holds immense power," he said. "It can also possess whoever wields it, turning them into its slave. Keeping it in my possession would be too dangerous."

I frowned. "Then what do you plan to do?"

"I can't just leave it behind for another power-hungry monster to find," Jasper continued. "So I've decided to destroy it, rendering it useless. That way, its power will be absorbed back into the universe, never to be claimed again."

Hearing his decision, I finally felt at ease. It reassured me that Jasper truly wanted peace among shifters and the entire paranormal world.

Jasper placed the trident on the ground and instructed, "Take a few steps back."

We did as he said.

He then chanted something in a hushed voice before raising his staff. A beam of light shot out, colliding with the trident, breaking it in two. A loud explosion followed, and a brilliant light burst from the shattered pieces, piercing through the cave's roof, creating a gaping hole before vanishing into the sky.

Then, silence. A sense of calm and tranquility settled over us.

"It's done," Jasper exhaled.

"Thank you," I nodded in gratitude.

He shook his head. "No need. This was for everyone's safety."

I nodded. "We should now return to the Moonglow Pack," I announced.

"Okay. Let me know if you need my help finding the Dark Alpha," he said, catching me off guard.

I turned to him, surprised.

"I know he's been destroying werewolf packs, and his next target will likely be us vampires. It's better to stop him before it's too late," he explained.

"Don't worry," I assured him. "I'll handle him. But thanks for offering your help. I truly appreciate it."

"No problem," he said before teleporting away.

Ethan, the warriors, and I shifted and sprinted toward the Moonglow Pack. But then, suddenly, the sky became unstable. A strange energy pulsed through the air, sending a shiver down my spine.

Then, the impossible happened.

Three red moons appeared in the sky, glowing ominously. The wind howled, and the ground beneath us trembled as if the earth itself was reacting to this unnatural event.

I skidded to a stop, shifting back into my human form, my eyes locked on the eerie sight above. "What the hell is going on?" I muttered.

Ethan and the others stood frozen, staring at the sky in disbelief. "This... this shouldn't be possible," Ethan whispered. "Three red moons? That only happens in legends."

A deep sense of unease settled over me. If the stories were true, this was a sign -one that spelled disaster.

*Selena*

Mother and the God of Destruction stood before me, waiting for me to proceed with the wedding rituals.

"Selena, we don't have time," Mother urged, her voice laced with urgency and fear.

I licked my dry lips, my heart pounding. "Mother, I can't do this," I whispered. "I can't betray Zander."

"You're not betraying the Alpha King—you're saving your people,” Kaelvor reasoned. His words made sense, yet something about this situation unsettled me. The eerie calm felt unnatural, as if a storm lurked just beyond it.

I clenched my fists. "But if destiny is already decided, how can you stop it?" I

questioned, watching as a flicker of hesitation crossed Kaelvor's eyes.

"I am the God of Destruction," he said, his voice deep and resolute. "Together,

with our combined power, I can stop doomsday."

I wasn't convinced that marrying

him was the right choice. No, I couldn't marry anyone who wasn't Zander Btake. I was his, and only his.

There had to be another way to

combine the power without O

marrying someone who wasn't my

mate, Zander Blake.

Kaelvor narrowed his eyes, his voice sharp. "You're not going to proceed with the wedding rituals?"

"No!" I declared, my determination unwavering. "But I believe there must be another way to combine our powers."

"Oh, Selena, that's pure foolishness," Mother whined, but I wasn't backing down. I couldn't marry a god.

Kaelvor exhaled, seeming to calm himself. "Then come with me to my realm, and we will combine the power there."

"Is that possible?" Mother asked, her tone more enthusiastic now.

"Yes!" Kaelvor nodded, his eyes gleaming with contentment.

"Then, Selena, go with him and stop the day from coming before it's too late," Mother implored. I could see the urgency in her eyes. I knew I had to do something-there was no time to waste.

"Okay, I'll go to the Dark Realm," I agreed reluctantly, but I knew it was the only

choice to save my people, my family, and my world.

Chapter 680

Deceit

God Kaelvor took me to the Dark Realm with him, and the journey itself was an experience beyond imagination. His realm-traveling ship was unlike anything I had ever seen-crafted from gleaming obsidian and etched with silver runes that pulsed with a faint, rhythmic glow. The air inside was thick with power, a hum of energy that sent shivers down my spine.

As we entered the dark realm, I braced myself for an endless void, for a world without light. But instead, we were greeted by a strange sight-there was illumination here, a soft glow from the swirling skies above that bathed the land in hues of violet and deep red. The terrain was rich with bizarre, otherworldly flora that seemed to thrive in the strange light. It wasn't a barren wasteland, as I'd imagined, but a place that seemed... too alive.

The people who walked the cobblestone streets looked anything but normal. They moved with mechanical precision, eyes fixed forward, faces cold and emotionless, as though bound by some unseen force. It was as if the life had been drained from them. Forced servitude, I realized. They were prisoners of this world, whether they knew it or not. Perhaps that was why the realm was also known as the realm of death.

We approached a castle made entirely of black stone-so dark it absorbed the light around it, giving it an ethereal, almost terrifying presence. The walls seemed to pulse as if breathing in sync with the land itself.

As the ship slowed to a stop, two figures emerged from the shadows of the castle. They were draped in elaborate royal black robes, their silhouettes striking against the glow of the dark realm.

Kaelvor stepped forward, his deep voice breaking the silence.

"This is Vaelrik, my right hand," he said, gesturing to the man on the left. His features were sharp, his dark eyes piercing like daggers. There was no need for embellishments or titles-his very presence screamed authority.

"And this is Eryndor, one of my most loyal men." Kaelvor's gaze shifted to the second figure, whose demeanor was just as unnerving. Eryndor's expression remained unreadable, but something about him felt even more dangerous-like a blade hidden beneath a velvet sheath.

They both bowed their heads slightly in acknowledgment, their eyes studying me with quiet intensity.

"Welcome to the Dark Realm, Queen Selena!" Vaelrik said, his voice smooth yet carrying an edge of something unreadable.

I gave a slight nod. "Thank you," I replied, though the air here felt heavier than I had anticipated, thick with an unseen force pressing down on me.

Turning to God Kaelvor, I asked, "So when will we start the process?"

"Now," he declared without hesitation, his tone absolute. Without another word, he strode forward, his black robes flowing behind him like living shadows.

I followed as he led me inside the grand castle. But instead of being taken to a guest chamber or any kind of formal space, Kaelvor led me straight through a narrow underground passage. The deeper we went, the colder the air became. A dim glow flickered from torches embedded in the walls, casting long, eerie shadows that danced like wraiths.

Arena, my wolf, stirred uneasily in my mind.

'Something isn't right,' she warned, her voice a low growl.

I felt it too. A gnawing sense of unease crept over me. But we had come this far. There was no turning back now. Whatever fate awaited me, I had no choice but to see it through.

Then, without warning, a thick, swirling smoke burst from the left, curling around me like a living entity. It wrapped around my body before I could react, seeping into my lungs and clouding my vision. A sharp sensation of vertigo overtook me, and when my sight cleared, I found myself bound in the far corner of a massive, dimly lit hall.

"What the hell is going on?" I snarled, struggling against the restraints. The bindings pulsed with dark energy, tightening the more I fought.

Across the hall, Kaelvor stood in the center of an ancient ritual circle, strange symbols glowing beneath his feet. His men were positioned around him, chanting in a language I didn't recognize. A black mist swirled around them, thickening by the second.

Arena fought alongside me, trying to break free, but we couldn't. The magic was too strong, too unnatural.

'Selena... this is demonic magic fused with godly power!' Arena's voice was panicked, her usual strength dimmed by fear.

I clenched my teeth.

What?!

"Kaelvor," I commanded, my voice laced with fury. "Release me instantly!"

He let out a low, wicked chuckle, his dark eyes gleaming with amusement. "And

who do you think you are, that I should obey your command?"

My rage burned hotter. I had expected treachery from many, but not from a god. "I never thought a deity could be this filthy," I snarled.

Kaelvor smirked

as he rose from his

seated position, his movements

slow and arrogant. The power

radiating from him made the very air around us crackle with energy. He approached me, his smirk widening ast She studied my helpless form. Cóntent belongs to

"After all," he mused, "a god can crave power just as much as mortals do."

I glared at him with disgust, my stomach twisting with revulsion. "So you lied

about helping my realm?" It wasn't even a question anymore-his intentions were crystal clear now.

"Ah," he exhaled in pleasure, "I do love watching people crumble into desperation before they fall straight into my traps." He tilted his head mockingly. "That's how I've used countless others like you over the ages-to fuel my power. And it will all end with me acquiring the strength of the Ancient Wolf."

His filthy grin sent ice-cold dread through my veins.

No, not Arena! My wolf. My other half. I couldn't let her suffer because of my mistake.

Desperation surged through me, and

I called upon every ounce of power granted to me by the goddess. The dark magic binding me pulsed violently as I pushed against it, the pain searing through my wrists like molten iron. But I refused to stop. With a final, agonizing surge, the ties snapped, the force of my release sending a shockwave across the room.

Kaelvor barely reacted. He watched me with mild amusement, completely unfazed. "Impressive," he remarked, as if observing an entertaining trick.

Before I could move, his men rushed forward, their hands moving in a synchronized motion as they chanted in an ancient tongue. A fine, glittering powder rained over me, the scent bitter and metallic.

My body seized.

A horrifying sensation spread through my core, an unnatural force severing something vital within me.

'What the hell is happening?!' Arena howled in agony.

Our bond our sacred connection-was weakening.

I was losing her.
