Ch. 1911..1920
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1911-It was a heart–stopping moment!
Quintus also wiped himself away from all expressions. It seems that Emmanuel is really pissed off. It’s time to stop playing around!
“Get him up!” Emmanuel strode to the main seat of the hall while ordering Sage. He could have smashed William’s head to pieces with just a slap if he hadn’t planned to let this murderer die so easily.
“Yes, Commander!” Sage single–handedly pulled William to his feet and dragged him before Emmanuel. William’s cheeks were distorted, looking like a strangely shaped cone.
Those who betrayed the Quillens looked at the miserable–looking William as he kneeled on the ground. Each of them trembled in fear, barely able to lift their heads!
“William Verkade, I shall ask the questions and you will answer. The moment I catch you lying, I will rip you to pieces until not even ash remains! Am I clear?” An Unexpected Surprise Emmanuel threatened.
William weakly nodded his head. To him, the torture of being denied not just life but also death was absolutely excruciating!
“Do you understand?!” As Emmanuel’s most trusted confidant, Sage instantly understood his underlying meaning. Without hesitation, he broke one of William’s fingers.
“A–Aaaah!” William screamed in agony.
“Was Mr. Tanner the one who supported you behind the scenes? Was he also the one who sent the four special envoys to aid you in the assassination of the Quillens?” Emmanuel asked coldly.
William weakly nodded. To him, the torture of being denied not just life but also death was absolutely excruciating An Unexpected Surprise “There was also a military force. Who was it?” Emmanuel continued his interrogation.
It was evident that William slightly flinched at the question, but he remained silent.
Crack!
Once again, Sage broke another finger.
“Ah-” This time, William’s cries were barely heard. All he could do was shake his head as if he were on the brink of death, indicating that he too, was unsure.
“What about Old Mr. Quillen? There was no corpse at the crime scene.
dead or alive?” Emmanuel asked his next question, his murderous aura beginning to send chills down the hall.
However, William was already barely clinging on to life. Any kind of pressure against him was useless on him.
An Unexpected Surprise “Emmanuel, I know the answer to that question!” 3 At that moment, the voice of Gautier echoed from the banquet hall’s staircase.
Emmanuel had a serious look in his eye and glanced towards the direction of the voice. The next thing he knew, he was stunned, and his serious gaze gradually turned to surprise.
The reason was that there was an old man behind Gautier, and it was none other than Terence Quillen!
“Grandpa!” Emmanuel quickly got on his feet.
Terence was also overjoyed at the sight of him and walked toward Emmanuel with a smile. “Oh, you finally made it back, you little rascal! If you didn’t, Mackenzie would have given birth by now, right? I’ve been waiting for you for so long!”
An Unexpected Surprise “Grandpa, are you okay?” Emmanuel ignored Terence’s displeasure and held his hands tightly, thoroughly checking his condition from top to bottom.
Besides looking slightly thinner and worn out, there was nothing out of the ordinary!
“Oh, I’m fine. But unfortunately, your mother sacrificed herself while saving me and perished in the fire!” Instantly, Terence began to feel the despair in his heart and tears began to well up in his eyes.
Emmanuel stared at Gautier coldly and asked, “I’ve heard about this tragic news. But how did you escape the tragedy back then? And how did you end up with Gautier?” Before Terence could speak, Gautier took the chance and replied, “I’m not going to lie to you, Emmanuel! I knew about my father’s scheme, but I was powerless to stop him. The only solution was to save the most important figure of the Quillen family!” Emmanuel stared into his eyes. He couldn’t find any cracks in his statement, but stiil kept his courts cocainst him!!
“At that time I wanted to save your matter as well. Unfortunately, the flames were too interse Your Lofer in hopes of sowing your grandfather, sacrificed herself. I coucrit co anything at all? Gauter continued to lament.
To truly sorry for was too weak to be of any help to all of your Despite his sincere condolences Eravel still found it hard to believe him.
He locked at Terence for confirmation. Terence sighed and said, “He’s telling the truth. There was not a word of decet from Wit. Verkade!
Emmanuel nodded but continued to voice out his doubts. Then, where did you take Grandoo? Why did you only reveal him today?” “Because I know my Dad’s scheme. He has always wanted to eradicate the Quillens including anyone who is related to them!
Gautier answered whole–heartedly with a righteous look on his face. have tried to advise him. However, he was blinded by power and thus, sold his soul An Unexpected Surprise to the devil! Persuading proved to be useless, not to mention he held power in his hands. I could only do what I could and that was to save the most important individual in the family!” Mon,
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1912-Emmanuel’s gaze was locked onto Gautier, his tone cold and cutting. “Are you serious?
“As serious as it gets!” Gautier suddenly pulled out a gun, pointing it directly at William.
Shock rippled through the crowd, their disbelief palpable as Gautier, the son, stood ready to defy his father.
“Father, you’re wrong!” Gautier’s voice softened as he spoke. “Loyalty and honor are the cornerstones of our family. The Quillen family helped us in our darkest hour. How can we repay their generosity with betrayal?” For a moment, William stared at his son, stunned, before a twisted grin crept across his disfigured face, turning his expression into something grotesque, like a bloodied specter.
“Gautier, stop!” Winona, who had been missing all night, suddenly appeared, crying out desperately. “That’s your father!”
Behind her, Hubert, whose face was still disfigured from the Ferris Wheel Happiness incident, stood silently. Released early from prison due to the Verkade family’s newfound power, he now observed the scene–a father broken and a brother aiming a gun at him. Where most would be horrified, Hubert found himself smiling.
He always knew his brother was daring, shrewd, and unafraid, but never did he imagine Gautier would contemplate killing their own father.
Emmanuel watched Gautier, his internal shock concealed beneath a stoic exterior.
Angela tensed beside him, the thought crossing her mind, “Is he really going to kill his father?” While surrendering to his destiny, William’s grin twisted into something more demonic than human. “Hehe, Gautier, the land belongs to whoever can rule it.
I’ve nothing more to add. But a true man’s ambition always remains unshaken until the bitter end. My dream was always to see the Verkade family rise to the top in Yeringham… Bloodlines and Betrayals “And I did it! We made it to the top–not just in Yeringham, but all of Nuthana!
Hahaha! Even if it was just for a moment, we achieved it!
“My life was worth it! I regret nothing! But you… you’ve let me down, talking about loyalty and righteousness! The Verkade family will never bow down-” Bang!
The gunshot echoed, freezing William’s manic grin in place. His eyes widened, filled with disbelief as he stared at his son, then slowly crumpled to the ground.
The room fell into an icy silence, as if plunged into a deep, cold cellar.
Only the gun, still smoking in Gautier’s hand, indicated that the shot had just been fired.
“W–William!!” Winona rushed to her husband’s side, desperately shaking his lifeless body.
Realizing he was gone, she turned on Gautier, hitting and scratching him in a Bloodlines and Betrayals fury.
“You ungrateful monster! How could you be so heartless? He was your father, the man who gave you life and nurtured you, and you repay him with this? If I had known, I would’ve let him destroy you thirty years ago!” Despite her attacks and curses, Gautier stood firm, his voice steady and resolute. “I told you, as humans, we must never stoop to deeds that compromise our essential humanity. Father was wrong! I’m suffering too, but I couldn’t follow him down that path!” Tears welled up in his eyes, though whether they were genuine or just crocodile tears was anyone’s guess.
Both Sage and Angela felt a deep unease, realizing just how dangerous this man truly was.
With a deranged laugh, Hubert clapped fervently. “Fantastic job, Gautier!
You’re astounding! I’m cheering for you all the way! Let’s hear it for him!!“, Verkade family’s dark, twisted drama cast a shadow over everyone in the TheBloodlines and Betrayals room.
Even Emmanuel was silent for a long time until Gautier, still holding the gun, approached him.
Angela feared Gautier might turn the gun on Emmanuel, but Sage held her back, signaling her to remain calm.
As if Gautier could ever pose a threat to their commander? He would need another twenty thousand years to even dream of it!
Then, in a surprising move, Gautier flipped the gun in his hand and offered it to Emmanuel.
“What’s this supposed to mean?” Emmanuel frowned, puzzled.
With a calm yet determined voice, Gautier declared, “I didn’t agree with my father’s plans or involve myself in his fight against the Quillen family, yet I’m still his son. If his death isn’t enough to satisfy you, then kill me too. However,
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1913-Emmanuel remained silent, his gaze fixed on Gautier for a long moment before a faint smirk appeared on his lips. “So, you escorted Old Mr. Quillen back today just to meet your end? I honestly can’t see what you stand to gain from this.” Ultimately, everyone has an agenda driven by what they stand to gain; only a fool would act without considering their own interests.
Gautier gestured to his chest and confessed, “For me, the true reward is this- my conscience.” “Conscience?” Emmanuel’s expression remained indifferent as he retorted frostily.
Hubert watched his boss with an unshakable grin, deriving endless satisfaction from the display. It was a source of joy far greater than anything he could have achieved himself.
“Absolutely–it’s all about my conscience!” Gautier proclaimed.
The Vengeful Reckoning He exhaled deeply and continued, “The reason I turned against Hattie was my affection for Mackenzie. Despite the betrayal, she chose to place her trust in me and saved the Verkade family. I owe her a debt of gratitude that I can never repay. Believe it or not, supporting the Verkade family has always been my true intention. Given my father’s alliance with traitors and his heinous acts, my only aim now is to atone for the wrongs done by my family!” Emmanuel’s eyes remained locked on Gautier, his gaze intense and filled with deadly resolve.
Terence finally broke the silence “Emmanuel, this matter has nothing to do with Gautier. Don’t put him in a difficult position.” I understand Emmanuel’s anger, but this isn’t the right course. There’s no evidence linking Gautier to the Quillen family’s tragedy. If Emmanuel turns on him despite his help, it will be seen as a betrayal. That would mark him as a ruthless tyrant, losing the trust and support of his people completely!
When Emmanuel saw Terence pleading for Gautier, he offered a faint, knowing smile. With deliberate calm, he handed the gun back to Terence and Nonetwork available now please check your network No network instructed, “Even if you weren’t involved in the Quillen family’s downfall, you The Vengeful Reckoning likely knew who was, including those who greedily took their wealth through business schemes. Go now and make them pay.” At his command, those in the banquet hall collapsed to the floor, their heads hitting the ground as they cried out for mercy.
“Emmanuel, please show us mercy! We were driven to this!” “Yes! I will return all that we took from the Quillen family!” “Please, don’t kill me!” he pleaded. “I’ll return all the Quillen family’s assets and also give away all my own wealth if you spare my life!” Each person seemed more humbled than the last, with every kowtow more desperate than the one before. When faced with death, all other concerns fade into insignificance. In the end, even great piles of gold mean nothing.
Though some might question Emmanuel’s resolve to end the lives of all present, none could doubt his determination. To them, he appeared as a relentless force of vengeance, a spirit of unyielding retribution.
The Vengeful Reckoning To them, he appeared as a figure of darkness, a true devil “Now that you are afraid, what gave you the courage to greedily devour the Quillen family’s wealth while Old Mr. Quillen and Mackenzie were away?” His words struck fear into their hearts, their cries echoing through the hall as if mourning a great loss. Gautier, gripping his gun firmly, moved steadily toward the quaking crowd.
“Hold on a moment!” As Gautier was about to lift his gun, Emmanuel’s authoritative command halted him.
“Since they are willing to return the Quillen family’s belongings, give them a chance. However, if any assets remain unreturned by midnight tonight, you will handle them personally on my behalf.” Otherwise, I’ll ensure that you and your entire family face a grim fate!” Gautier met his steely gaze and gave a silent nod of acknowledgment.
The Vengeful Beckoning Those who had been begging and bowing felt a sudden sense of relist, though their fear and trembling caused some to wet their pants. In their orderly city, they had never witnessed such unrestrained violence. To them, Emmanuel appeared to completely disregard the law and showed no fear of the chaos his actions might unleash.
“Grandpa, it’s time for us to leave, Mackenzie is waiting for you!” With the harsh task completed, he guided Terence away, his menacing demeanor fading as if a mask had been lifted, revealing a gentler side.
“Yes, Mackenzle is probably about to give birth soon.” “Indeed, she is about to give birth any day now.” Emmanuel nodded, a rare warmth touching his featuros.
“That’s such wonderful news! I’m eager to witness the birth of my great–grandchild. It will be something special to share with your mother when I meet her!”
The Vengeful Reckoning For the first time in ages, Terence’s face lit up with a genuine smile, a fleeting moment of joy cutting through the sadness.
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1914-Emmanuel and Terence left, and the heads of the major families from Nuthana’s second floor followed suit. Soon, only the Verkade family and those who had originally intended to submit to them remained on the third floor.
“Gautier, Emmanuel and the others have left. It’s just us here now–are you still going to keep up the act?” Hubert sneered. “You’re doing this because you’re scared, right? You know we don’t have enough strength to take down Emmanuel, so that’s why you didn’t join Dad in wiping out the Quillen family back then. Otherwise, with your planning and strategy, the Quillen family would’ve been wiped out ages ago!” Gautier, however, looked dismissive, feigning oblivion. “I don’t know what you’re talking about. Everything I’m doing now is purely out of redemption and gratitude.” “Huh, you’re something else! I gotta hand it to you!” Hubert gave him a thumbs–up.
Schemes and Shadows Honest, if he hadn’t grown up following his brother around, he might’ve believed his nonsense. But he knew better. Gautier wasn’t that kind of person -he had bigger plans, way beyond what their father had ever imagined.
Their father’s ambition had been too small, too impatient, and it had gotten in Gautier’s way.
Gautier ignored his younger brother. He didn’t do it for glory but to keep Hubert and their mother alive. But Gautier also knew that he was destined to walk a lonely path with no one to share his thoughts or burdens.
Meanwhile, the Great Four Envoys leaped from the Yeringham Prestige Hotel, desperately fleeing, all while being pursued by Sunny’s Blade Battalion. If it hadn’t been for Aora’s otherworldly strength, they might’ve all been killed right there in Yeringham.
Though they managed to escape, all four of them bore injuries of varying degrees.
Hiding deep within the mountains on the outskirts of Yeringham, Azure turned to Aora and asked, “What do we do now Aora? We didn’t kill anyone we were Schemes and Shadows supposed to, especially not Emmanuel. In fact, we almost got killed ourselves.
How are we supposed to face the President?” Aora’s expression was dark, and he slammed his fist into a nearby tree. The tree shattered and fell with a loud crash. “Dmn it! Dmn it all!” he cursed. “To think Emmanuel’s strength improved so quickly! The President should’ve had us take action sooner. Now it’s too late–it’s going to be nearly impossible to kill him!” Aora’s words struck a heavy blow to the morale of his three companions.
They had always carried out the president’s assassinations flawlessly. Whether it was a powerful family, a grandmaster, or a hidden martial artist- even sect leaders–none had ever stood a chance against them. But Emmanuel’s strength was unfathomable. Even the four of them together couldn’t take him down in a short time, and they had barely left him wounded. On top of that, Emmanuel had powerful allies, each stronger than the last. He was unbeatable one–on–one and nearly invincible when outnumbered. They were at a loss for what to do next.
“Forget it,” Aora finally said. “We won’t return to Zovince just yet. Let’s take care Mon, Schemes and Shadows of the president’s second mission.” Amethyst gasped. “Aora, do you mean… the ‘Dragon Tome‘? Have you located it?” “That’s right.” Aora smirked. “It’s hidden in the Ancient Woods of Eldoria.” “The Ancient Woods of Eldoria?” The three of them were visibly shocked.
Ash spoke up, “But isn’t that place rumored to be a living labyrinth? No one who’s entered has ever come out alive. How did anyone learn that the ‘Dragon Tome‘ is there?” “Huh, we have that Summerton guy to thank for that information!” Aora said smugly.
“The Summerton family?” Amethyst asked, surprised. “Do you mean the Summertons from Zovince?” “Exactly. The Summertons were one of the Four Great Aristocratic Families in Zovince back then, and they had incredible influence. But they suddenly Schemes and Shadows S D chose to go into hiding. I suspect it had something to do with the ‘Dragon Tome. Once we get our hands on it and master its techniques, killing Emmanuel will be as easy as crushing an ant,” he said icily.
tt Anyone familiar with Chanaea’s martial arts world knew that two martial arts were hailed as the strongest in the land. One was the most powerful.
technique: the Northern Region’s Reverse Dragon Palm. The other was the most powerful internal method: the ‘Dragon Tome.‘ It was said that mastering either one would allow someone to dominate the world but mastering both would elevate them to a godlike existence, transcending humanity.
“Alright, let’s head to the Ancient Woods of Eldoria immediately!” After reaching their decision, the Great Four Envoys vanished northw.
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1915-On the other side, Emmanuel returned to the Eastern Star Mountain base with Terence.
“Grandpa!” “Thank goodness you’re alive, Grandpa!” Seeing Terence, Mackenzie’s eyes welled up with tears, and Beatrix broke down sobbing on the spot.
“Mackenzie, thank the heavens you and your baby are safe!” Terence was nearly moved to tears himself. He had once longed for a male heir to carry on the Quillen family name, but after all they had been through, that obsession had faded. Whether Mackenzie had a boy or a girl, whether they took the Lowe or Quillen name, none of it mattered anymore. All that mattered was that they were alive and well.
After exchanging warm greetings with the family, Mackenzie turned to Emmanuel, urging him to explain everything that had happened that day.
The Arrival of New Life “Do you really trust Gautier?” Mackenzie’s opinion aligned perfectly with Emmanuel’s. She didn’t buy into Gautier’s talk of redemption or repaying debts.
“He hasn’t slipped up yet, so let him keep acting,” Emmanuel said firmly. “If he wants to play the part, it saves us some effort, especially now when we have almost no one left to rely on in the business world.” Mackenzie agreed with Emmanuel. They couldn’t kill without reason–what separated them from murderers otherwise? There was no proof Gautier had been involved in the Quillen family annihilation. And whatever his true motives were, he had ultimately saved her grandfather’s life. Killing him based on suspicion alone would be repaying kindness with cruelty and would- likely earn them a bad reputation.
“Let’s have him start by returning the Quillen family’s assets,” Mackenzie suggested, then turned to Terence. “Grandpa, I’m about to give birth soon.
You’ll need to hold down the fort for a while longer. Beatrix, Lexi, please do your best to assist Grandpa.”
The Arrival of New Life “Don’t worry, sis! I got it!” “Of course, Ms. Quillen, I’ll do my best!” Beatrix and Lexi both promised.
Terence reassured Mackenzie as well, “Relax, Mackenzie. I may be old, but I’m not down yet. And I’ve noticed a few young talents recently–they’ve got good character and can be groomed for bigger roles. You just focus on delivering a healthy baby.” “Yes, give us a strong, healthy baby.” Beatrix chimed in excitedly. “With you and Emmanuel’s bloodline, he’ll surely grow up to be someone extraordinary!” Mackenzie smiled and nodded but suddenly clutched her stomach in pain.
Talk about timing!
“Mackenzie, are you okay?” Emmanuel’s voice was full of concern as he rushed to support her.
The Amal of New Life Move! Clear the way!”
Before anyone else could react, Laura stepped forward, pushing aside the clueless men and women who hadn’t experienced childbirth. “Get some hot water and towels ready–Mackenzie’s going into labor!” Everyone was stunned, their faces a mix of excitement and shock.
Everyone’s expressions shifted to excitement and surprise. Terence exclaimed in excitement, even more so, “Perfect timing! Just in time!” If he’d been a day late, he would’ve missed this monumental moment–he wouldn’t have seen his great–grandchild born firsthand!
“What are you all standing around for? Help me get Mackenzie to the delivery S room!” Laura barked, giving orders like a seasoned pro.
At that moment, even the Wolf Warrior himself had to obey her. He immediately scooped up his wife and carried her to the prepared delivery room.
The Arrival of New Life “Hurry! Get the hot water!”
“What are you standing around for? The women should be helping Mackenzie with the delivery!” Terence, now bursting with energy, started barking orders, looking like he was 30 years younger.
“Oh, right! Got it!” Felicity Lenoir, Lexi, and Beatrix had no idea what to do, as none of them had ever given birth before. Luckily, Laura was there to take charge, and Eve had already arranged for professional doctors and nurses to deliver, so there was no need for them to panic.
Aside from Laura, the rest were pushed out of the room.
Emmanuel and Terence were beyond anxious, nervously pacing as time dragged on. But it was Beatrix who couldn’t handle the waiting. After hours had passed, from day to night, she finally broke down in tears outside the delivery room. “Why’s it taking so long? Isn’t having a baby supposed to be like going to the bathroom?” Holy cow! What a thing to say! Everyone around her was stunned. Even The Arrival of New Life Felicity and Lexi, who had never given birth, were dumbfounded. Having a baby was a far cry from having a decade–long constipation!
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1916-“Hey, I saw on TV that when the female lead is giving birth, the family cheers her on. Should we shout words of encouragement for Mackenzie too?” Beatrix’s out–of–the–box thinking left Emmanuel and Terence completely stumped.
“Come on, let’s all do it together!” Beatrix insisted, trying her best to rally everyone outside the delivery room.
“If you won’t, I will!” Suddenly, Quintus appeared, having rushed over as soon as he learned Mackenzie was in labor. He shouted loudly, “Mackenzie, you got this! Once your baby is born, I’ll treat him like my own!” What the heck?! This guy has to be out of his mind.
If it weren’t for the fact that the birth of his child was such a joyous occasion, Emmanuel would have already punched Quintus.
Thankfully, Laura poked her head out of the delivery room just then, coldly A New Heir Is Bom scolding. “The woman in labor hasn’t made a peep, and here you all are yelling? Don’t any of you have a shred of common sense? Quiet down!”
Quintus and Beatrix instantly lowered their heads, looking like children caught misbehaving.
Moments later, the sound of a baby’s cries filled the air. Emmanuel, who had been holding his breath the entire time, finally let out a sigh of relief. It had been about ten hours, but it felt like an eternity–more nerve–wracking than any battle he’d ever fought.
Everyone around him also breathed easier. Even Rhett, who had been stationed outside, cracked a small smile. Has the Saintess given birth to an heir, or does the Commander–in–Chief now have a successor? he wondered.
Only Quintus seemed completely oblivious to the tension, laughing heartily. “Ha! The baby’s here! My goddess had a child; I’ve got to see him!” “Stop right there!” Eve blocked his path at the door.
A New Heir Is Born Even Felicity couldn’t hold back from scolding him. “Quintus, what’s wrong with you? The baby’s birth father is standing right here. What are you so worked up about? Wait your turn!” Quintus, undeterred, grinned. “I love Mackenzie more than he does, so of course, I’m more anxious than him!” Lexi rolled her eyes. Compared to Quintus‘ wild words, Beatrix’s earlier comment didn’t seem all that outlandish anymore.
“Congratulations, it’s a boy!” Laura emerged holding a newborn baby. His hair was still damp, his face flushed, but he was undeniably adorable.
Emmanuel immediately took the baby into his arms.
“Congratulations, sir, on your new son!” “Emmanuel, you’re a dad now! How does it feel? Come on, tell us!” “Congrats, the love between you and Ms. Quillen has finally produced this little one!”
Everyone offered their congratulations. Emmanuel couldn’t hide his emotions, his heart brimming with joy. He immediately brought the baby over to Terence Quillen, saying, “Grandpa, look! I’ve completed my mission.
Mackenzie gave birth to a boy!” “Yes, I knew it!” Terence was already in tears, his hands trembling as he hesitated to touch the baby, afraid his old hands might hurt the delicate skin.
“I knew Mackenzie would break the Quillen family curse and give us a son! He may have been born a bit early, but he looks healthy. This is wonderful!” He then turned to Emmanuel with approval in his eyes. “I knew I didn’t misjudge you. You may be a little spineless, but you still accomplished the task I gave you!” Emmanuel chuckled awkwardly.
Eve glared at Terence. How dare you call the Wolf Warrior spineless?!
“Why doesn’t he look like me at all? He’s totally Emmanuel’s kid!” Quintus lamented, clutching his head in disappointment.
A New Heir Is Born “Get him out of here, now!” Felicity finally lost her patience and barked the order.
Eve quickly summoned Rhett and Sunny to escort Quintus away before he said anything more ridiculous. Emmanuel’s baby should look like him, not some buffoon like Quintus!
“Grandpa, have you thought of a name for him?” Emmanuel asked respectfully, wanting Terence’s input.
Terence let out a long sigh. Though he had imagined this moment countless times over the years, he simply smiled and said, “No, the baby’s name is for you and Mackenzie to decide.” “Should he take the Quillen name or the Lowe name?” Felicity, being Mackenzie’s mother in name, asked with curiosity.
Beatrix’s big eyes blinked expectantly at Terence, knowing this was a question that concerned both the Lowe and Quillen families.
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1917-“I’ve said it before, Emmanuel, you and Mackenzie should decide,” Terence said with a bittersweet smile. “There was a time when I wanted nothing more than for this child to bear the Quillen name, but these past two years have changed my perspective. I’ve let go of many old obsessions.
“As long as he’s alive and healthy, that’s all that matters. The name doesn’t define the person or the bloodline. It’s just a label. Besides, the Quillen family has already fallen once, and it’s only thanks to you, Emmanuel, that we’ve rebuilt. The one leading the family now should be you, so let the child take the Lowe name. This is also in line with your mother’s last wish–to see the Lowe family continue.” Everyone felt a pang of emotion after hearing Terence’s words, and Emmanuel nodded solemnly, feeling the weight of responsibility.
Just then, Mackenzie’s weak voice came from the delivery room. “Emmanuel, can you bring our baby to me? I want to see him.” A Name of Legacy “Of course!” Emmanuel, still excited, carefully carried the baby into the room, with the rest of the group following behind him, their faces lit up with joy.
Mackenzie lay in bed, her face still covered in sweat and her hair disheveled, but when she saw her son, a tired yet content smile spread across her face.
“Mackenzie, have you thought of a name for our son?” Emmanuel asked gently. Despite being a 5–star Battle General, he showed no sign of arrogance when it came to his wife.
“Hmm, a boy, huh?” Mackenzie said with a hint of disappointment. “I was planning to name him Clara, but that’s too feminine for a boy.” “Clara?” Everyone looked at her in surprise.
Only Emmanuel understood perfectly the meaning behind the name. They had only made it this far, with their child safely in their arms, thanks to Claudette and Sarah. The name was meant to honor the sacrifices those two women had made for them.
A Name of Legacy “Emmanuel, how about we name our son Caden? If we have a daughter next, we’ll name her Clara.” Mackenzie suggested, valuing her husband’s input. As the head of the household, she wanted him to have the final say.
“Caden?” Emmanuel asked, intrigued.
Mackenzie smiled and nodded. “Yes. The name means ‘pure‘ or ‘spirit,‘ and it reminds me of the strength and grace Sarah always had. I want our son to carry that same sense of peace and purity, to honor her in a way that suits him.” It was clear she wanted their son to carry on Sarah’s legacy, even if it was in a more subtle way. Emmanuel understood completely and smiled in return.
“That sounds perfect. Our son will be named Caden Lowe, and if we have a daughter, we’ll name her Clara Quillen, after you and Sarah.” Everyone around them nodded in agreement, thinking the names were fitting and meaningful.
“What do you think, Grandpa?” Mackenzie asked, looking toward Terence.
A Name of Legacy “Haha, I think it’s perfect! Caden Lowe–purity and strength combined. I hope 計 he lives a free and joyful life, just like his name suggests!” Terence responded with a bright smile.
With the name decided, the room filled with a brief moment of joy and peace.
The next morning, however, Eve brought word from Sage, and Emmanuel had to tear himself away from his newborn son.
“Commander, we’ve lost contact with Ashton, Julian, and your sister. No one’s been able to reach them.” Emmanuel’s heart sank. His sister was his only remaining family, and if anything happened to her, he couldn’t fathom the grief he would feel.
“Have we found any information about their whereabouts in Eldoria?” “Yes,” Sage quickly replied. “I contacted Ashton’s colleagues in Onza. They said Ashton mentioned heading to the Ancient Woods of Eldoria for refuge.”
A Name of Legacy “The Ancient Woods?” Emmanuel frowned. It wasn’t the first time he’d heard of the place, but he had never been there.
“That’s right. After a full investigation, we learned that the Summerton family of Zovince went into hiding years ago, taking control of the Ancient Woods.
They sent one branch to Onza to handle their business affairs, providing them with money and weapons,” Sage continued.
Emmanuel nodded, recalling the stories Julian had told him and his sister about the Summerton family. He hadn’t known, though, that their hidden base was in Eldoria.
“Could it be that Ashton knew someone powerful was targeting them, and to save her life, she took Julian and my sister to the Ancient Woods for protection?”
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1918-“That seems to be the case,” Sage continued. “We tracked their spending records, and Ashton made a purchase in Eldoria three days ago. It’s highly likely the three of them were together.” “A transaction three days ago, but now they’ve gone silent?” Emmanuel couldn’t help but feel uneasy.
“It’s said that the Ancient Woods are vast and dangerous, full of complex terrain,” Sage speculated. “Many who enter never come out alive. Judging by their spending patterns, it’s highly likely they ventured into the woods.” Emmanuel sighed quietly, trusting Sage’s analysis. He immediately issued orders, “Send word to the Blade Battalion to move to Eldoria tomorrow. The other two battalions will remain stationed in Yeringham to protect the Quillen family. We can’t afford any mishaps!” “Understood, sir!” Sage promptly went to make the necessary arrangements.
A Journey to Hero’s Village The Quillen family catastrophe had only been possible through the collaboration between William and the higher powers, which was meticulously planned over time. But now, the Verkade family had been eliminated, and the remnants were being purged. With the Wolf Warrior Unit officially formed and ready to strike at any moment, even if someone like Teddy tried to stage another attack, success was impossible.
“Roselynn, please, don’t let anything happen to you,” Emmanuel whispered to himself, hoping his sister was safe.
The day before his departure, Emmanuel discussed plans with Mackenzie, telling her he wanted to bury Sarah’s body in Hero’s Village, next to his mother, and pay his respects.
They both knew Sarah’s dying wish was to marry Emmanuel. Although he couldn’t fulfill that wish, Emmanuel understood that Sarah didn’t want to be buried in the Quillen family’s cemetery–she wanted to rest with the Lowe family.
“Let me go with you, Emmanuel!” Mackenzie insisted.
A Journey to Hero’s Village “Mackenzie, you just gave birth. You need to rest.”
“It’ll be fine. It wasn’t a C–section, and some mothers can already get out of bed after a day’s rest. Besides, with you by my side, what’s there to worry about?” she said, her resolve unwavering.
Emmanuel relented, and together with their newborn son, they made the journey to Hero’s Village.
After a few hours of driving, they arrived and laid Sarah’s body to rest beside Alessandra’s grave.
As Emmanuel placed the headstone inscribed with “Sarah Quillen, Sister–in–Law” onto the ground, his eyes reddened. “I’m sorry I failed you in this life. But your energy now flows within me, so you will live on in my heart forever.” Mackenzie added sincerely, “Thank you for giving Emmanuel to me. I promise to take good care of him.” Mon, A Journey to Hero’s Village Behind them, Frederick and Shane wept openly. They had once believed the world to be peaceful and beautiful, but now, it felt so cruel and tragic. Too many lives have been lost recently.
“Manny, Master said to find him at Peach Blossom House once you’ve finished paying your respects. He has something important to tell you,” Shane said as soon as Emmanuel stood up.
Emmanuel nodded, then knelt once more at his mother’s grave. “Mom, Mackenzie has given birth to a child for the Lowe family. Our bloodline continues. You can rest in peace now.” After paying his respects, Mackenzie stayed behind to speak quietly to the departed while Emmanuel made his way to Peach Blossom House to find Santiago.
As he approached the house, the scent of alcohol hit him, accompanied by the sound of a spear being swung. He heard the whistle of the weapon cutting through the air, strong enough to make the peach blossoms shudder. Emmanuel hurried inside and saw Santiago drenched in sweat, practicing A Journey to Hero’s Village intensely.
ii In his memories, Santiago was always a naturally gifted fighter; he had never seen him train so hard. The signs around the yard suggested that Santiago had been practicing like this for days.
الم “Master!” Emmanuel called out.
Santiago’s sharp gaze locked onto him, but instead of stopping, he hurled his spear directly at Emmanuel, the weapon slicing through the air like a silver bullet.
Emmanuel’s heart skipped a beat.
The spear moved like a silver dragon, too fast and too powerful. Emmanuel had no choice but to use his Eight Trigrams Rotating Hand Technique, spinning and retreating until he had no room left. Only then did he manage to catch the spear, though his hands tingled from the impact.
Santiago’s strength was truly astounding.
A Journey to Hero’s Village D “Ha! My prized disciple is as sharp as ever!” Santiago grinned, casually flipping a long staff from the ground into his hands. With a quick motion, he launched into a “Dragon Splash,” the staff thrusting toward Emmanuel with blinding speed.
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1919-You motherf*cker! It finally dawned on Emmanuel that Santiago was challenging him to a sparring session.
Forced to engage, Emmanuel countered Santiago’s “Dragon Splash” with a skillful parry, deflecting the powerful attack.
“Haha, again!” Santiago roared with laughter as his staff spun violently. He unleashed a flurry of strikes with the “Thousand Leaves Whirlwind Staff” technique, raining down blows on Emmanuel.
Emmanuel felt his scalp tingle. What had he done to deserve this? Why was he being attacked with such mastery? Reluctantly, he activated his shapelessness mode.
Fortunately, he wielded the Blazing Silver Dragon Spear, ranked seventh on the list of Chanaea’s finest weapons. Without it, he doubted he could withstand Santiago’s relentless barrage of strikes.
The Savage Martial Saint 3 After a few exchanges, Santiago grew more enthusiastic, continuing his attacks without hesitation.
“Santiago, if you keep this up, your house will be destroyed!” Emmanuel shouted while blocking and retreating, sounding like a bullied disciple.
“Hahaha…” Santiago finally stopped after a dozen more strikes, laughing heartily. “Let it be destroyed! I’m leaving this place anyway!”
“What?” Emmanuel paused, barely catching his breath, and asked in surprise, “You’re leaving? Why?” “Because that guy is finally reemerging! Santiago replied, sitting down and taking a swig from his flask.
“That guy?” Emmanuel was stunned. “You mean the villain who disappeared twenty years ago?” Everyone in Hero’s Village knew that two people haunted Santiago’s thoughts.
One was his late wife, and the other was the infamous villain who had killed Mon, The Savage Martial Saint her.
“Yeah, he went to Shoiya to seek enlightenment. It took him twenty years, and he’s now swept through their martial arts world. Now, he’s coming back to Chanaea, claiming he’ll defeat all its fighters!” Santiago said between gulps of wine.
“He’s representing Shoiya to challenge Chanaea’s fighters? Why would he do that?” Emmanuel asked, perplexed.
“How should I know? If you want answers, ask him yourself!” Santiago responded agitatedly, then smirked. “If I had to guess, it’s probably tied to the presidential election.” “The presidential election?” Emmanuel’s expression turned serious, realizing there might be a bigger plot behind this “Yeah, if I’m not mistaken, he’s a high–ranking figure in the Airspace Group, someone who stands on equal footing with the Big Three!”
Emmanuel was taken aback. “On equal footing with the Big Three? Who exactly is he?” “He was once known as one of Chanaea’s Seven Saints–the Savage Martial Saint!” Santiago said, his eyes dark with a rare combination of hatred and determination as he stared into the distance.
“The Savage Martial Saint?” Emmanuel was bewildered. “Why would someone of that caliber work for the Holy Trinity?” “How should I know? Either they share a common goal, have the same beliefs, or maybe it’s just personal loyalty,” Santiago said before taking another gulp of wine. “What I do know is that he was part of the Airspace Group even back then. His return to Chanaea at this time is almost certainly tied to the presidential election–perhaps even an assassination plot against the other two candidates.” Emmanuel’s face grew grim. “You have a point, but what if he’s here to assassinate the candidates; why be so high–profile about it?”
The Savage Martial Saint “Hahaha…” Santiago suddenly burst into laughter. “Why not? He’s a Martial Saint! His pursuit is the pinnacle of martial arts! The fame, the glory–it’s all part of the allure. Besides, that’s how he won her heart back then.” “Her? Do you mean your wife?” Emmanuel finally asked the question that had been on his mind.
Not only Emmanuel but most people in the village, save for the elders, knew little about Santiago’s past. All they knew was that after his wife’s untimely death, he’d drowned himself in alcohol, becoming a shadow of his former self. As for how she died and her identity, no one knew. Rumor had it she was a stunningly beautiful heiress from a wealthy family, someone with quite a background.
Sigh….
Santiago let out a long sigh. “Forget it. The past is better left buried. Starting today, I’m leaving the village to get back into shape. In three months, I’ll face him in a battle to the death!”
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1920-Boom!
As soon as Santiago finished speaking, he grabbed the staff from the ground and, with a powerful “Dragon Splash,” pierced straight through the wall. The force of his strike was so intense that it didn’t just break the wall of Peach Blossom House–it also left gaping holes in the walls of several neighboring houses.
“Oh, sh*t!” Santiago realized he’d gotten carried away and jumped up, snatching the Silver Dragon Spear before making a run for it. As he dashed off, he shouted, “Emmanuel, cover for me! Consider it a favor to your old master! I’m out of here!” Emmanuel stood speechless.
Sure enough, moments later, the angry voices of the village women could be heard shouting from nearby.
“Santiago, was that you again?” Farewell and Teasing “Drunk and causing trouble again? Pay up!” Dmn it! You’ve damaged our houses again–I’m gonna kill you!”
Hearing the scolding, Emmanuel shook his head in speechlessness.
Fortunately, he wasn’t short on money. Sigh, I guess I’m paying my way out of this.
After taking a verbal lashing from a few elderly women, Emmanuel returned to the hillside, feeling rather defeated.
Mackenzie was still by Alessandra and Sarah’s graves, quietly speaking to the departed. When she saw Emmanuel returning, she greeted him with a radiant smile.
“Manny, I heard from Mackenzie that you’re heading to Eldoria. Mind taking me with you?” Shane eagerly asked.
“What’s the matter? You’re not staying in Yeringham to chase after Ms. Beatrix anymore?” Emmanuel teased with a knowing grin.
Farewell and Teasing “Nah, Beatrix isn’t interested in me. Why stay dead set on a pool when there’s a sea of fish out there? Who knows, maybe my true love’s waiting out there!” Shane replied, ever the pragmatist.
He had read in a dating guide that if one couldn’t win a girl over in three months, it was probably a lost cause. He’d been chasing Beatrix for much longer than that, and with no sign of her reciprocating his feelings, it was time to move on.
Emmanuel chuckled, then turned to Frederick. “What about you?” “Me? I’ll stay in Yeringham. The Quillen family is rebuilding, and Ms. Quillen just gave birth. I’m sure Ms. Beatrix has a lot of pressure at work, so I’ll do my best to help,” Frederick replied.
L Unlike Shane, Frederick wasn’t one to give up easily. Even though he was already 30 and his family was pressuring him to settle down, he wasn’t willing to abandon his feelings. For him, love wasn’t about tactics or compatibility–it me was about staying true to his heart. If he couldn’t win Beatrix’s affection, he was content to remain single and enjoy his freedom.
“Alright, let’s head back Emmanuel said, respecting their choices as they prepared to leave.
Back at the base, Beatrix was surprised to hear that Shane was leaving with Emmanuel to resoue Roselynn. After all, Shane had been persistently hanging around her, and now that he was suddenly giving up, she couldn’t help but wonder if her charm had faded.
“Shane, are you really leaving me? Beatrix asked, wanting to hear it straight from him.
“Yeah,” Shane responded, his spirits lifting when Beatrix addressed him directly. With renewed boldness, he added, “Are you reluctant to see me go, Ms. Beatrix? If you agree to be my girlfriend, fll stay and protect your” Before he could finish his excited speech, Beatrix shook her head with a smile. “Oh, but I already have someone I ke Shane’s face fell instantly, and he lowered his head in disappointment, ready to walk away. Emmanuel, Frederick, and Quintus watched, thinking Shane Farewell and Teasing was walking right into embarrassment again. But then, Beatrix added, “Aren’t you curious if the person I like is you?” Shane’s head snapped back up in surprise. “Wait, are you saying… the person you like is me?” “Nope!” Beatrix shook her head again.
Shane stood there, speechless. The others could barely hold back their laughter–Beatrix wasn’t just rejecting him, she was toying with him!
“Well… I guess I’ll be going now,” Shane sighed, turning to leave once more. But Beatrix followed after him, teasing again. “Don’t you want to know if I was lying to you just now?” Shane spun around, his face lighting up with hope. “Were you lying earlier? I knew it-” “Nope!” Before he could finish, Beatrix shook her head yet again.
