Ch. 1921..1930
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1921-Emmanuel and Frederick were at a loss for words, and even Mackenzie thought her sister was being a little too harsh.
“Oh… I’m really leaving now!” Shane, feeling utterly defeated, turned to leave, looking like a wilted flower.
“But if you continue pursuing me, who knows, I might say yes someday!” Beatrix teased, a playful smile on her face.
Shane paused mid–step but didn’t dare get too excited this time. “So… is there a chance?” “Nope!” Beatrix shook her head again.
Brutal. Absolutely brutal, Everyone else thought. This was probably the harshest rejection in history.
Shane’s breathing grew heavier, anger bubbling up inside him as he turned around, fuming.
Playful Teasing and Honest Talks “But even if I don’t agree to be your girlfriend, I might still give you a chance to try,” Beatrix added, her playful smile never leaving her face.
“Is that a possibility?” Shane, though devoid of hope, turned once more to ask.
“Nope!” Beatrix shook her head again.
“Argh! That’s it, I’m done with you!” Shane shouted, completely losing it as he lunged toward her. He was never one to take rejections hard, but this–this was just cruel.
Luckily, Emmanuel stepped in to hold him back, and Mackenzie also gently scolded her mischievous sister, reining her in. “That’s enough, Beatrix. Stop teasing him.” “But it’s fun!” Beatrix laughed. “He’s leaving soon, and I won’t have the chance to mess with him again!” Frederick was at a loss for words. He couldn’t help but wonder if he ever confessed to her, would she toy with him like this too? Just the thought made Playful Teasing and Honest Talks him reconsider any future plans to express his feelings.
Quintus, too, was relieved Mackenzie wasn’t as merciless as her sister. Sure, rejection was painful, but at least Mackenzie wasn’t cruel about it.
After the little scene, Emmanuel helped his wife back to their room to rest.
Mackenzie, having just given birth, was understandably exhausted and quickly fell asleep.
Tia took care of their newborn, allowing Emmanuel to go and check on Claudette.
“Claudette, he’s here. You two should talk,” Laura said before tactfully leaving the room as Emmanuel approached.
Meanwhile, Elizabeth had already returned to her studies and left Eastern Star Mountain earlier.
“How are you feeling?” Emmanuel asked with a gentle smile, keeping a respectful distance, since it was late and also that Claudette was dressed in a light nightgown.
Playful Teasing and Honest Talks “I’m feeling fine physically,” Claudette nodded gently, and the guarded look she once had toward Emmanuel was no longer there. Sitting on the bed with her long hair cascading over her shoulders, she still had a youthful glow despite being in her thirties.
“That’s good to hear,” Emmanuel nodded, momentarily unsure of what to say next. It was Claudette who broke the silence, her soft eyes watching him as she asked, “Are you busy? I heard you’re leaving Yeringham tomorrow for Eldoria.” “Yes,” Emmanuel confirmed. “I need to find my sister, and if all goes well, I’ll head straight to Zovince from there.” “Good luck!” Claudette smiled, looking at him like a fan admiring her hero.
Emmanuel smiled back, finally speaking, “I’m sorry I haven’t been able to help you recover your memories yet. I haven’t had the time to research it or find anyone who might help. But after I finish these urgent tasks, I promise I’ll do my best to help you regain them.” Teasing and Honed Talh Claudette nodded slowly, lowering her head for a moment before raising it again. “But… why are you so determined to help me regain my memories?” Emmanuel froze, surprised by her question.
“Hehe, just joking,” Claudette stuck out her tongue playfully. “Of course, it’s better to regain them–people shouldn’t live without their past, right?” Emmanuel’s smile stiffened, unsure how to respond. In truth, he had started to wonder if helping her regain her memory was even necessary. Claudette seemed happy and content with her life now, and maybe she didn’t need to remember. Besides, if she didn’t regain her memories, it might save Mackenzie from some emotional conflict.
“Thank you, really,” Claudette said, her smile soft and sincere. “Aunt Laura’s been telling me about you–how you’re a 5–Star Battle General with many soldiers under your command. You’re so important, yet you still find time to visit me. I’m really touched.”
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1922-Emmanuel smiled again. “Of course, you’re someone very important to me.” “How important?” Claudette suddenly asked, catching him off guard.
Emmanuel hesitated, momentarily stunned. Before Claudette regained consciousness, he could easily speak his mind. But now, he found himself unsure of what to say.
“Hehe, just kidding. You don’t have to answer if you don’t want to,” Claudette said with a lighthearted smile. “I know you just became a father; you must love your missus dearly. So, you should maintain boundaries and keep your distance from other women.” If anyone else had said those words, Emmanuel wouldn’t have given it much thought. But hearing them from Claudette gave him a strange sense of melancholy, as if the world had changed overnight.
“You should rest,” Emmanuel said after a moment, unsure of how to engage with this version of Claudette. The woman in front of him no longer seemed Shadows in the Woods like the Claudette he once knew.
“Goodnight!” Claudette smiled warmly, her expression soft and endearing. But once Emmanuel left, her smile gradually faded, and she let out a soft sigh.
“Even if I’ve forgotten my past, you’re still my type. Six feet, strong, gentle yet tough, powerful, respected by all–what’s not to like about him?
“Sigh, just go to sleep, Claudette. He’s married with a kid now. Maybe I’ll stop having silly thoughts after we don’t see each other anymore.” At that, Claudette lay down, pulling the covers over her head like a child, trying to push away the lingering feelings.
The next morning, Emmanuel prepared to lead the Blade Battalion toward Eldoria.
“Emmanuel, when you find Roselynn, make sure to let me know right away. I’ll take good care of Caden while you’re gone,” Mackenzie said softly, holding his hand as they said their goodbyes.
“I will. If anything happens, make sure you tell me right away too,” Emmanuel responded seriously. With his mother gone, his wife and child were now his entire world.
“Don’t worry, the Wolf Warrior Unit you left behind isn’t here just for show, and your wife isn’t helpless either! Once I’ve recovered, I’ll take charge of the Quillen family again, purge Yeringham and all of Nuthana of any remaining threats and turn the Quillen family into an unbreakable fortress!” Mackenzie declared with her usual confidence and authority.
Emmanuel smiled, knowing his wife’s capabilities. Plus, with Rhett ensuring her safety, he felt comfortable leaving for a while.
Meanwhile, deep within the forests of Eldoria, Ashton led the way while Roselynn helped Julian, who lagged behind.
“I can’t go on anymore!” Julian said, panting, but still took the opportunity to snap a photo. The scenery was beautiful, and with his fiancee nearby, he couldn’t resist.
#t “You’re so weak! And you call yourself a man?” Roselynn teased, realizing why Julian hadn’t been able to win a fight even against Jaxton.
“Hehe, sorry! I’ll hit the gym when we get back,” Julian said, chuckling awkwardly. Losing to his police officer sister was one thing, but being outdone by his civilian fiancee? That was embarrassing.
“Let’s rest for a bit,” Ashton said, glancing around the area before throwing her brother a look of disapproval. “It’s pretty embarrassing for a man to be outdone by women.” Julian grinned, unfazed by the criticism. “But Roselynn is Emmanuel’s sister.
It’s normal for me to lose to her, and I heard she’s beaten him 17 times without losing once! Could you do that?” “You!” Ashton huffed, clearly annoyed. “You’re good at nothing but arguing!” “At least it’s better than being completely useless. And I can take photos, can’t I?” Julian grinned as he snapped a shot of his sister’s irritated expression. But after the click, his face turned serious as he stared ahead.
Shadows in the Woods “What’s wrong?” Roselynn noticed the sudden change in his demeanor.
“I think I just caught a shadow of someone in my photo,” Julian said with a frown, quickly checking his camera.
Though no person appeared in the photo, the movement of the tree branches suggested that something–or someone–had indeed been there.
The three of them had ventured into the Ancient Woods of Eldoria to escape being hunted…
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1923-After Julian inherited the Summerton family, he discovered many hidden documents in his father’s study, all related to the reclusive branch of the Summerton family. They had retreated to the Ancient Woods, a vast labyrinth where anyone without a map would undoubtedly get lost.
Because the forest was outside signal coverage, they had lost contact with the outside world, unaware that Emmanuel and Mackenzie had already returned. The last information they had was that the Quillen family had been annihilated, Terence was missing, and powerful forces were hunting them.
Weak and desperate, they sought refuge and revenge through the hidden Summerton family.
After all, they were still part of the Summerton bloodline, and whether for family ties or mutual benefit, the hidden Summerton family wouldn’t leave them to perish.
“Maybe it was just the wind,” Ashton said after examining the photos. While there was a clear difference between the two shots, it didn’t necessarily The Secrets of the Summerton Family Q mean there was a person. If someone had been tracking them, their skills would be beyond exceptional. Such a person could easily eliminate the three of them without breaking a sweat.
“Julian, we should keep moving,” Roselynn urged. She had a bad feeling.
Knowing there were forces out to kill them, resting here in such a dangerous place was like waiting for death.
“Alright, let’s keep going,” Julian agreed, his survival instincts kicking in as he quickened his pace deeper into the forest.
After the trio had left, a well–dressed young man whispered, “Wyatt, you were careless. You almost got us spotted!” “I’m sorry, Sir,” Wyatt apologized immediately. “But why don’t we just capture those three and force them to reveal the hidden Summerton family’s location? Why bother following them in secret?” Before the young man could answer, a middle–aged man nearby, Hank Sheridan, chuckled and tapped his head. “This is why you’ll never match Sir, The Secrets of the Summerton Family Wyatt. You lack the smarts.” Wyatt, feeling a bit offended, asked, “And you understand Sir’s reasoning?” “I know a little more than you,” Hank replied smugly. “First, Mr. Gwain is renowned as one of the strongest men in the world–Lannister of the South, Wolf Warrior of the North. How could someone like him threaten or harm women? It would ruin his reputation. Second, even if we did capture them, what if they led us in circles around the forest? We’d waste our time and energy.” Wyatt glanced at the young man, curious to see if Hank was correct.
The well–dressed man smirked, his pride evident. “Hank got two points right but one wrong.” “One?” Hank was puzzled. He had only made two points.
Wyatt was equally confused.
The young man snorted dismissively. “There is no such thing as ‘Lannister of the South, Wolf Warrior of the North‘ or ‘one of the strongest men in the world.’ There is only one strongest, and that is me, Gwain Lannister!” Hank finally understood, and Wyatt silently sighed at Gwain’s overwhelming arrogance. However, having faced Emmanuel in battle, Wyatt had to admit that if Emmanuel truly was the Wolf Warrior, he had indeed been weaker than Gwain.
“Let’s move,” Gwain suddenly leaped forward, disappearing into the forest like a gust of wind.
Hank and Wyatt scrambled to keep up with him.
The ‘dense forest blurred past Gwain’s sharp eyes like a speeding train, his gaze as focused as a star piercing the night. He knew his mission well.
Among the younger generation, he was undoubtedly the strongest, but to become truly invincible, he had to retrieve the Lannister family’s long–lost “Dragon Tome.” The Secrets of the Summerton Family Decades ago, the tome had been stolen from the Lannister family, and 66%8 shortly afterward, the Summerton family of Zovince had mysteriously gone into hiding. Based on various clues and rumors, it was widely believed that the “Dragon Tome” had been stolen by the head of the Summerton family.
The Summertons‘ sudden seclusion likely stemmed from their guilt. Their head likely sought to master the “Dragon Tome” in secret before re–emerging with grand ambitions. Yet, thirty years had passed, and the once–great Summerton family still remained hidden in the Ancient Woods, proof that the thief, though in possession of the Lannister family’s most treasured martial manual, lacked the skill to master it.
Today, Gwain was determined to reclaim the Lannister family’s legacy. Once he mastered the “Dragon Tome,” he would become the true, unrivaled champion of the martial world!
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1924-On a remote mountain path, where the whispering winds and rustling leaves spoke secrets of old, two figures made their way through the dense foliage. A man and a woman, moving with purpose and quiet determination.
“Xarri, the Ancient Woods is a boundless expanse,” Quell voiced her concern, her eyes scanning the looming trees and tangled underbrush. “If we continue wandering, we might lose our way and perish in its depths.” In the vast and unforgiving embrace of nature, human strength seemed but a flicker in the grand scheme of things.
Even the most skilled martial artists, who had mastered their art to perfection, found themselves dwarfed by nature’s might. The Ancient Woods was so immense that traversing its entire length could take over a century on foot.
Yet Xarri remained unshakably confident. “We will find that hidden family,” he declared with unwavering resolve, his gaze fixed ahead as he searched for The Search for the Hidden Family signs of their elusive quarry.
She, though puzzled by her brother’s boundless confidence, trusted him implicitly. She had always believed that Xarri possessed an extraordinary vision–one that could discern what was hidden from ordinary sight.
She was convinced that Xarri’s prowess was unparalleled–greater even than the famed Gwain of the Lannister family “Xarri, are you certain the Dragon Tome was taken by the Summerton family?” Quell asked, her voice tinged with both hope and apprehension.
“Ninety percent sure,” Xarri affirmed, his nod slow and deliberate. His years spent on Dark Night Islands had been shrouded in secrecy, and he had never shared the murky affairs of the Lannister family with his sister.
The isolation of the Dark Night Islands had made it impossible to consider anything beyond survival. Now that they had escaped its confines, Xarri was ready to divulge the truths he had kept hidden.
The Search for the Hidden Family “Fifteen years ago, it was widely known that the Dragon Tome was not in our dad’s possession. Those treacherous individuals used this pretext to drive him to his death and obliterate his bloodline, seizing control of the Lannister family’s power and its vast repository of martial secrets.” Quell’s expression hardened as she clenched her teeth, a storm of anger brewing within her. At that tender age of eight, she had been blissfully unaware of such grim realities. Now, the revelation fueled a deeper rage against the Lannister family.
“Dad once confided that the Dragon Tome was in the hands of the Summerton family and that it was tied to a monumental transaction,” Xarri continued, his tone grave.
Quell’s curiosity piqued. “What kind of transaction?” His face fell into a pained smile. “Dad never provided full details. He hoped I would remain uninvolved. Yet now, it seems we have no choice but to delve into it.” The Grand to the Midgutamey Her eyes nomowed, her resolve stealing the perpetratos of Cots munte will pay dearly. We must uncover the whereabouts of the Dragon TomE expose the truth behind his death, and see to it that justice is served for the murder,” Xarri offered a faint, reassuring smile. “Do not let vergeance cloud your judgment. We must first unearth the truth and carefully plot our next steps.” Although Quell struggled to grasp how her brother maintained his composure or the full meaning of his advice, she nodded in agreement “I’ve found something!” Xarri exclaimed suddenly, his eyes sporting with excitement as he examined the footprints etched into the ground.
“Has someone recently ventured into the Ancient Woods? Quell inquired, still baffled. Her skills were a far cry from her brother’s keen abilities.
“Upon returning to Chanaea, I saw headlines detailing the massacre of the Quillen family and the subsequent flight of the Summerton family from Onza to Nuthana,” Xarri explained. “You were young and might not recall this, but Wed, The Search for the Hidden Family after the Summerton family vanished from Zovince, they resettled in Onza, Nuthana.
“With the Onza Summerton family now fleeing, they are likely seeking the reclusive Summerton family. If I can trace them, there is a significant chance we will locate the hidden branch.” Quell marveled at her brother’s ingenuity. His ability to connect the dots she had missed left her in awe.
Still intrigued, she asked, “Xarri, how did you track down the Onza Summerton family?” “I conversed with Emmanuel during our ocean voyage,” Xarri replied with a knowing smile. “I was aware of his sister’s connections to the Onza Summerton family. A few days ago, I called to check on his wife’s condition and, in our conversation, inquired about his sister’s whereabouts. That’s how learned she was in Eldoria, the same city we’re heading to. It was a fortunate coincidence.” The Search for the Hidden Family Her admiration for her brother deepened.
Meanwhile, on a separate journey, Ashton, her brother, and sister–in–law continued their trek through the wilderness. For two more days and nights, they pressed on, untroubled by signs of pursuit but equally isolated, having yet to encounter another soul.
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1925-Just as doubt began to creep in, Julian’s eyes lit up, and he suddenly pointed toward the horizon, his voice sharp with excitement. “Look! There’s smoke ahead!” Roselynn and Ashton whipped their heads in the direction he was pointing, and sure enough, wisps of white smoke curled lazily into the dusky sky. It was undeniable proof that someone–or something–was there.
“Let’s go check it out,” Ashton said firmly, her tone leaving no room for hesitation. As a seasoned police officer, bravery came naturally to her.
Roselynn, though not easily rattled, maintained her composure, yet the only man in their trio, Julian, was visibly shaken. His heart raced, fear clinging to him like a shadow. If it weren’t for the relentless pursuit that had driven them into these deep, ominous woods, no sane person would have ventured into this desolate wilderness.
“Heh, heh, it’s been ages since anyone dared to come this far. Who might you be?” A chilling voice echoed from somewhere in the distance, followed by Hidden in the Mountains 11 more voices that seemed to come from all directions.
“Oh, what a treat–two beauties with bodies to die for!” another voice jeered, dripping with malice.
“Cackle, cackle, we’ve truly hit the jackpot today!” Suddenly, disembodied voices filled the air around them, sinister and mocking. It was immediately clear that they weren’t dealing with just one person.
The trio’s eyes darted around the dimly lit landscape, but in the rapidly descending twilight, not a soul was in sight. The eerie disembodied laughter only heightened the terror. Julian’s terror got the better of him; his trembling hand clutched Roselynn’s arm so tightly it hurt. Yet, in a brave yet utterly unconvincing attempt to sound reassuring, he stammered, “Roselynn, don’t be scared. I’ll protect you!” Roselynn had to bite her tongue to keep from rolling her eyes. Protect her? He could barely protect himself.
Hidden in the Mountains “We’re from the Onza Summerton family!” Ashton declared, her voice ringing with authority. “We’re here in search of the hidden Summerton clan.” A sudden, oppressive silence followed her words, thick as fog. The air hung heavy, and the three of them exchanged anxious glances, swallowing nervously. Had they just walked straight into the lair of bandits?
“Oh, the Onza Summerton family, you say?” one of the voices returned, dripping with skepticism. “How do you plan to prove that?” Julian fumbled desperately in his pockets until he retrieved a jade pendant, its surface glinting faintly in the waning light. Etched into it was a single character: ‘Summerton.‘ “This is our proof!” Julian called out, his voice edged with desperation. “I’m the heir of the Onza Summerton family. Someone here is bound to recognize me!” Suddenly, in a blink, a dark shadow shot past, and before Julian could even register what had happened, the pendant had been snatched right from his Hidden in the Mountains hand.
Ashton, her senses sharpened by years of martial training, reacted instantly.
She reached out to grab the figure, but her efforts were in vain–the shadow moved with a speed and precision far beyond her abilities.
“Return that pendant, or I’ll shoot!” Ashton growled, drawing her gun and pointing it toward where the shadow had disappeared.
“Heh, heh,” a voice sneered from the darkness. “You think a gun scares us?
That’s a child’s toy to us.” Then, as if speaking to someone else, the voice muttered, “But it seems this is the Summerton family’s pendant. After all these years, someone from the Onza branch has finally come to find us.” “Family, eh? We’re all family.” The voices snickered once more, sending a chill through the air.
Just then, a figure emerged from the shadows–a man with long braids that Hidden in the Mountains swung from his oversized head, his small, squat body casting an oddly grotesque silhouette. His appearance was so unsettling that the three couldn’t help but flinch.
“What are you doing here instead of making money out in the world? You should be providing us with supplies and weapons, not skulking around in these woods,” the large–headed man barked, his tone filled with suspicion.
“To tell the truth,” Julian stammered, struggling to compose himself, “we’re being hunted down. We’ve come here seeking sanctuary.” “Hunted down? By whom? Who would dare?” The large–headed man’s voice boomed, fury crackling in his words.
Though the hidden Summerton family had sent out people to establish contact with the Onza branch, those guarding the mountain were largely ignorant of current events and remained out of touch with the world beyon “It’s probably Teddy from Zovince,” Julian spat out, his voice tinged with hatred. He didn’t care about pointing fingers–there was no doubt in his mind Hidden in the Mountains who was responsible. Teddy was the only one with the means and motive to try to erase their existence.
For years, the Summerton family’s arms business had clashed with Teddy’s, and Julian was convinced this was the reason behind Teddy’s ruthless pursuit–a calculated move to kill two birds with one stone.
“Teddy, huh?” The large–headed man sneered. “I’ve heard of him–a wolf in sheep’s clothing. And now he wants to snuff out the last spark of the Summerton family? Despicable.” His anger flared as he ranted, but after a moment, he turned his attention back to Julian. “Since you’re family, come with us. We’ll take you to meet the Patriarch of the Summerton clan.” The Patriarch?
Roselynn and Ashton exchanged uneasy glances. The more they heard, the more the hidden Summerton family seemed like a group of mountain kings ruling over this secluded region with an iron fist.
Hidden in the Mountains Julian, too, wasn’t sure.
to expect. He had never wanted to inherit the his father had ventured into this remote family’s legacy, and not even enclave. Who knew what awaited them in the depths of the hidden Summerton family?
Still, there was no turning back now. They had to go forward and uncover the truth, no matter what it might be.
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1926-The big–headed man clapped his hands sharply, and from the shadows of the thick bushes, a swarm of figures suddenly leaped out, their abrupt appearance sending a fresh wave of terror rippling through the already tense group. These newcomers were like creatures pulled from the ancient past, their appearances wild and untamed, as though they had been cut off from civilization for eons, their mannerisms more like that of savage beasts than modern men.
Julian’s mind raced, his thoughts swirling in disbelief. What kind of godforsaken place is this? he wondered as he glanced around. The world was vast and full of strange and terrible things, but this? This defied all logic.
A man with an unnaturally large nose, nostrils flaring as if he were sniffing the air like a hunting hound, suddenly turned to the big–headed man. “Gary, I smell something… there are others nearby.” Gary’s eyes darkened with suspicion as he rounded on Julian, his voice sharp and accusing. “Did you bring more people? What’s with all the sneaking.
The Power of Hidden forces around? Are you plotting something?” “No! We didn’t!” Julian protested, his face pale with fear, his hands shooting up defensively. “We only came as three swear it! If I’m lying, let the heavens strike me down!” Gary’s brow furrowed deeply. Even with his formidable skills, it wasn’t until the large–nosed man had mentioned it that he had sensed the disturbance. He narrowed his eyes and, without warning, hurled a stone weapon toward the dense foliage, his bellow echoing through the darkening forest, “Who’s hiding back there? Show yourself!” The force behind his attack was terrifying. The stones tore through the air with the velocity of cannonballs, aimed straight at the mysterious presence lurking in the shadows.
Wyatt’s breath caught in his throat as he watched. The sheer strength that Gary possessed–could it truly rival his own? The Ancient Woods were steeped in dark legend, and standing here now amidst its deadly silence, it was clear why people whispered of this place as the gate to hell, where no The Power of Hidden Forces living soul returned once they crossed its threshold.
Then, something impossible happened. The stones, instead of finding their mark, were caught mid–flight and, with equal force, sent hurtling back toward their original trajectory.
Gary’s eyes widened in disbelief as he threw himself to the ground, narrowly avoiding the rebounding projectiles.
“Get down!” Ashton screamed, throwing herself over her brother and Roselynn, shielding them as best she could.
The stones crashed into the ground behind them with a thunderous impact, exploding into shards like detonated bombs. The earth seemed to shudder under the blast, fragments flying through the air as if the very land itself had been torn apart.
Julian blinked, stunned. Is this some sort of movie? his mind screamed. How could such monstrous power exist in the real world?
The Power of Hidden Forces “Ashton! Are you alright? Ashton!” Roselynn’s frantic voice broke through the haze of confusion, jolting Julian from his stupor.
His heart nearly stopped when he saw Ashton lying on the ground, blood soaking the dirt beneath her. She had been struck by one of the stones, and crimson was spreading fast.
“I’m… I’ll manage,” Ashton groaned through gritted teeth, struggling to stay conscious. “Just… bandage me up, quickly.” They were lucky–no vital areas had been hit. But the sheer power behind those stones, the brutal force–it was beyond anything Julian had ever witnessed. It was as though the mountains themselves had come alive to attack them. Could anything be stronger than Emmanuel?
“D*mn it! Who the hell is attacking us?” Gary roared, fury blazing in his eyes.
“Men! Kill them all!” His voice rang with authority, and as soon as the words left his lips, the very ground beneath them began to tremble. The mountain itself seemed to The Power of Hidden Forces groan and shift as if responding to his command, Roselynn and Julian, caught off guard by the sudden quake, were thrown to the ground, powerless to stand. Even Wyatt, strong as he was, felt his balance.
waver as the earth beneath his feet trembled. His scalp prickled with unease.
How many warriors were hidden on this mountain? The weight of the mystery pressed down on him, suffocating.
Hank’s face twisted into an odd mixture of excitement and terror, his voice shaking as he muttered, “The Summerton family of Zovince–one of Chanaea’s most powerful martial arts clans, once rivals of the Lannisters. I’d heard they had gathered geniuses from across the world, but to see it… it’s more than I could have ever imagined.” Ahead of them, the refined young master struggled to maintain his footing, his face a mask of cool composure, though he said nothing. The whole mountaintop, now crawling with shadowed figures, was a hi of activity.
In the growing twilight, it was impossible to make out their faces, but there had to be over a hundred warriors gathered there. The sound of their The Power of Hidden Forces movements alone was enough to rival the noise of a thousand ordinary men.
Finally, the young master stepped forward, bowing slightly to Gary with a graceful smile. “Gary, I am Gwain of Zovince. I have come here to pay my respects to the head of the Summerton family. I mean no harm.”
Gary’s lips curled into a sneer as he took a single step forward, though he still kept a cautious distance. Gwain’s earlier display of power had shaken him more than he cared to admit. Circling the young master, Gary barked a mocking laugh, “So, you’re the so–called ‘Southern Lannister,’ huh? You look like some pretty boy, and you’re supposed to be one of the top martial artists in the world?” Gwain’s response was calm, his smile sly as he spoke, “Not one of the top. I am the strongest martial artist alive today.” “What the hell! Such arrogance!” Gary spat. The surrounding martial artists gasped, their eyes wide in disbelief.
To them, martial arts was life–a battle of dominance where only The Power of Hidden Forces strongest could prevail. And now, here stood a man who claimed that title for himself.
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1927-As soon as Gwain’s arrogant words left his lips, a figure immediately stepped forward, bellowing, “I am Linden, the Cutter Blade! Let’s see how strong this so–called number one from the outside world truly is!” Without another word, Linden brandished a massive pair of shears and charged headlong toward Gwain. Everything in the wake of those shears was cleaved in two, leaving a trail of destruction in his path.
The sheer force of Linden’s attack made even Wyatt inwardly gasp, realizing that Linden’s internal strength was likely on par with his own.
Ashton, too, couldn’t help but click her tongue in astonishment. What sort of treacherous tair had they wandered into, where every individual seemed not only immensely powerful but bizarrely strange?
Linden himself looked as peculiar as his name sounded. His twisted and distorted features instantly marked him as a grotesque figure, reminding one of Gary. There was an unsettling quality about him that would have made Beneath the Rising Shadows most people shudder in fear, especially given his terrifying strength.
Yet, Gwain stood tall, showing not even the slightest hint of fear. His gaze suddenly turned as sharp as a blade, and with a single swift kick, he sent Linden’s giant shears flying through the air. In the same heartbeat, Gwain struck with his palm, sending Linden crashing violently to the ground.
Thud!
Linden lay sprawled, motionless, blood spurting from his mouth.
The crowd was paralyzed with shock, their scalps tingling with disbelief. No one could have predicted that someone as strong as Linden would be felled in just a single blow.
Many among the gathered onlookers could see that if Gwain hadn’t shown restraint, that palm strike could have easily ended Linden’s life.
Even Wyatt drew a sharp breath, feeling a surge of resignation–he knew he could never hope to catch up to Gwain. This man was growing stronger with Beneath the Rising Shadows each passing day.
“Thank you for the match,” Gwain said proudly, cupping his hands toward the crowd. His expression was haughty as he declared, “Let me make myself clear once more. I’ve come here to meet with the head of the Summerton family and to reclaim what rightfully belongs to the Lannister family. I have no desire to fight, but if you continue to stand in our way, we’ll be forced to retaliate.*
The crowd fell into an uneasy silence, with no one daring to speak.
The night began to creep in.
This wasn’t the city; there were no lights to push back the encroaching darkness. Soon, the entire area would be engulfed in pitch–black night.
After a long pause, Gary finally broke the silence with a booming laugh.
“Gwain, you’ve said all the right words, haven’t you? You come here to take what you want, and now you’re making it sound like any resistance is just asking for death? Do you think we won’t kill you?” Beneath the Rising Shadows Gary’s power was nothing to scoff at. As soon as he finished speaking, he stomped his foot into the ground, creating a massive crater beneath him.
Ashton clicked her tongue again, eyes wide with envy. How she wished she could one day wield that kind of internal strength.
Despite the overwhelming power that left the others in awe, Gwain remained unfazed. He even sneered, the corner of his mouth curling in disdain. “It’s not that you won’t kill me,” he said coolly, “It’s that you simply can’t.” “D*mn him!” Suddenly, the odd assortment of fighters scattered around the mountainside erupted in outrage.
“That Lannister kid is too full of himself!” “D*mn it! Even an uncle could endure this, but an aunt wouldn’t!” “Catch him! Cut off his tongue, chop off his hands and feet, and let’s see how arrogant he’ll be then!” Beneath the Rising Shadows Suddenly, a grotesque figure holding a short blode shot up from the ground The ambush was perfectly timed, shrouded by the darkness of the night, making it nearly impossible to detect.
Even Wyatt broke into a cold sweat at the sight of the sneck cock leoped But Gwain, as if sensing the danger with eyes on the back of his feet, leaped into the air just in time.
The grotesque figure attempted to stab him but found himself unable to keep up.
Gwain flipped gracefully in midair, his height and long legs giving him a distinct advantage. With perfect precision, he kicked the figure’s arm.
Crack!
The sound of the grotesque attacker’s arm snapping was unmistakable, his body was sent crashing into the ground with such force that it left a deep crater in its wake.
Beneath the Rising Shadows “D*mn, that was incredible!” Even Julian couldn’t help but express his awe.
Ashton and Roselynn, the two women, watched in wide–eyed fascination, not even daring to blink. Gwain wasn’t just powerful; his movements were elegant and poised, like a deadly dance.
But before Gwain could land, warriors from all directions swarmed toward him like ants drawn to an elephant.
Hank and Wyatt, who had initially planned to stay out of the fight, had no choice but to leap into action when they were dragged into the assault.
Together, they joined forces with Gwain, battling against the hundreds of skilled fighters that surrounded them.
The chaotic melee continued to rage, the night growing darker with each passing moment.
In the dense forest behind the mountaintop, four figures stood out, their Beneath the Rising Shadows brightly colored garments oddly conspicuous in the gloom. And yet, no one seemed to notice their presence.
“Aora, it looks like the three great experts from the Lannister family are getting swarmed. Shouldn’t we help them?” Azure asked.
Aora’s lips curled into a sly smirk. “Why should we?” he replied coldly. “Let Gwain retrieve the Dragon Tome first. Then, we’ll swoop in and take it from him. Isn’t that much easier?”
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1928-Amethyst sneered, voice dripping with icy disdain. “Aora’s plan, lying in wait like the mantis stalking the cicada, only to be preyed upon by the oriole… Brilliant.” The sarcasm in the tone was unmistakable, a mix of amusement and derision.
Azure, however, sounded more hesitant. “But I’m not sure Gwain will be easy to handle. The Southern Lannister and Northern Wolf Warrior–ranked alongside Emmanuel. If we provoke that one, who knows what chaos might follow?” Aora chuckled lightly, brimming with arrogance. “Heh, from my point of view, there’s nothing special about Gwain. Just someone skilled at taking down weaker opponents.”
The boastful tone was undeniable, yet beneath it lingered a flicker of uncertainty.
Azure was silently startled. Was Aora truly confident enough to take on Gwain, or was this just empty bravado? After all, Aora had suffered defeat at The Standoff in the Ancient Woods Emmanuel’s hands twice before, wounds to both pride and skill.
Amethyst joined in, their laughter soft but cutting. “Indeed. No matter how strong Gwain may be, dealing with their trio will surely be easier than facing those strange, skilled individuals from the Summerton family when they resurfaced. And if they manage to weaken each other in the process, we can swoop in and reap the benefits without lifting a finger.” The four of them continued their scheming, unwilling to move forward. They knew all too well that should they be discovered, they too might get caught up in the maelstrom of the battle that was brewing.
Meanwhile, Julian, Ashton, and Roselynn were gripped by fear, hearts pounding as they stood frozen in place. Any one of the masters surrounding them could end their lives with ease, a thought that gnawed at their nerves.
Luckily for them, none of the fighters spared a glance in their direction.
Curiosity burned within them–who was truly the stronger one? Gwain or Emmanuel? But as mere novices, they had no means of understanding the The Standoff in the Ancient Woods depth of these warriors‘ strength. How could they possibly judge the prowess of such titans?
Their eyes eventually turned to Wyatt. After all, Emmanuel had once fought Wyatt and emerged victorious, though not without difficulty.
As they watched, it became clear that among the trio, Wyatt was indeed the weakest. Handling three or four opponents at once seemed to push him to the brink, and on more than one occasion, death loomed close.
Meanwhile, Gwain continued to fend off multiple foes, all while managing to save Wyatt’s life. The contrast between the two could not have been starker.
As the night deepened, shadows lengthened, and the growing darkness tipped the balance further against those with fewer numbers.
Finally, Gwain’s voice rang out, sharp and cold, slicing through the tension.
“We hold no personal grudges. But if you’re determined to fight to the death, don’t blame me for showing no mercy!” The Standoff in the Ancient Woods In one fluid motion, Gwain unsheathed a sword, its gleaming blade reflecting the cold light of the moon. The air around them seemed to grow heavier, the temperature plunging as a palpable chill swept across the field.
No one dared to advance. The terrifying, bone–chilling intent emanating from Gwain was too much for even the bravest to withstand.
“So… So powerful…” Ashton whispered in awe, voice barely audible. It was undeniable now–Gwain was stronger than Emmanuel, who had once claimed the title of Grandmaster of Nuthana. It was not just stronger; Gwain’s strength seemed overwhelming.
A sudden shout shattered the silence. “Stop!” Gary, realizing that even their overwhelming numbers would not be enough to bring Gwain down without immense losses, made a quick decision. Even if they could kill Hank and Wyatt, too many would fall to Gwain.
“Gwain, we do not quarrel with you. If you’re determined to enter the Ancient Woods Hall, so be it! But mark my words–if you die in there, don’t turn around and claim we did not warn you! Let’s go!” The Standoff in the Ancient Woods With a single order from Gary, over a hundred experts vanished into the night leaving no trace, even the wounded disappearing into the shadows as if they had never been.
Julian and Roselynn hurried to help Ashton to their feet, quickly retreating deeper into the mountains alongside Gary and the others.
Gwain and the companions no longer bothered with stealth, their steps bald as they pressed forward.
“Move out,” Gwain commanded with quiet authority.
Behind them, the four emissaries continued to trail at a distance, their curiosity unquenched. What exactly was hidden within the Ancient Woods?
Why had modern technology failed to detect any structures, while the place teemed with so many people?
Emmanuel’s curiosity was just as intense, if not more. By this time, they had arrived at the entrance to the Ancient Woods, Sage by their side.
The Standoff in the Ancient Winds The forest loomed ahead, dark and dense, its depths shrouded in an impenetrable blackness. Even the most advanced military–grade lights could barely carve a path through the heavy veil of night.
“Commander, this forest is a barren wilderness, tangled and overgrown like a living maze. Legends say that none who enter ever return. It’s not wise to proceed at night,” Sage cautioned, fully aware of the commander’s strength but still concerned about the danger ahead.
Emmanuel, however, was resolute. “My sister might be inside. Other than y son, she’s the only family I have left. I can’t wait.” Sage had no choice but to comply, leading a small team equipped with tracking devices and lighting gear as they carefully ventured into the pitch–black forest, navigating through the thick, oppressive air.
In the shadowy heart of the Ancient Woods, four distinct groups pressed forward, each on their path, driven by personal motives. Some moved quickly, others with caution, but all were headed toward the same unknown.
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1929-After a two–hour trek, Gary eventually guided them to a sizable mountain, at which point Julian’s endurance had finally given out and he could hardly move.
The big mountain was encircled by dense woods. Finding people there would be difficult once they were inside. Even a satellite was unable to locate them.
“We are in this location. Enter now!” Gary declared. When he turned a rock in a secret location, a wonderful scene appeared.
A stone entrance unexpectedly opened in the mountain in front of them.
Suddenly, all the outsiders discovered that within the thick mountain forest lay a secret paradise. As they followed Gary through the stone door, their bewilderment only intensified as there was an artificially built palace inside the mountain.
“Is this… Is this a hoax?” Ashton found it unbelievable.
Julian and Roselynn had the same thoughts. They believed that only books Summerton Palace and television series could have such a massive and terrifying undertaking Naturally, they had never visited the Dark Night Islands, or else they would not have realized how large this undertaking was.
Gwain and the two individuals behind them were equally taken aback.
Although they were aware of the Zovince Summerton family’s enormous and potent influence, they had no idea that they would embark on a project of this magnitude.
“This is Summerton Palace. Hurry up!” Impatient, Gary pushed Julian and t others into the palace.
Gwain and the other two followed behind, but for a little while they were unable to keep up. Gary disappeared from view as he guided the others onto a fork in the path.
“Mr. Gwain, what do we do now?” With a nervous and almost terrified expression, Wyatt asked.
But Gwain was far more composed and self–assured than Wyatt was, and he Summerton Palace scornfully declared, “Of course, we follow them and find the representative of the Summerton family, and retrieve what belongs to our Lannister family!” They were all three accomplished martial artists. But they lost sight of Ashton and the others because the palace was so large and intricate, complete with traps.
As Julian and his friends followed Gary across bridges and mountains, they marveled at the palace’s many curves. The palace was a real work of art. It happened both outside and inside the mountains at different periods. Mar enigmatic constructions would undoubtedly be seen when viewed from the outside via a satellite, but in actuality, they were all components of the mountain.
The three of them were escorted to a stone hall after trekking for around two hours.
“You’re welcome to wait outside. Great Master is sleeping and won’t be able to meet you until tomorrow morning.” Gary gave them instructions and left.
Summerton Palace They were in no rush to see the alleged Great Master because the three of them were mostly looking for safety there. After walking nonstop, one by one, they dozed out on the stone benches and were only awakened the following day by a gentle foot kick.
“Hey, are you all descendants of the Summerton family?” a man in a servant’s uniform inquired.
With haste, Julian sprang to his feet and said, “My name is Julian Summerton.
This is Roselynn Lowe, my wife, and this is Ashton Summerton, my sister.” When Roselynn heard him refer to her as his wife for the first time, she felt conflicted. She did not resist, even though she believed he was fairly weak, and found him to be quite trustworthy.
“Come in!” An energetic yet elderly voice emerged from the stone hall.
Julian got up immediately, as did the other two, and headed for the stone gate that was slowly opening.
Summerton Palace They noticed an elderly man with a white bead and eq they entered the stone hall. His face wos retient red, buks old. His strength was very apparent “Are you the descendants of Zoiden Summerton the old room with the white beard asked, his eyes partly open, “Indeed! We are his offspring. Are you a summertonterity excess o talked in a tone that was slightly respectu rather than targty & cxces Ultimately, he harbored neither animosity nor fondness for the fidden Summerton family, He thought Teddy’s men had slain his parents, not the hidden Summerton family, “No, I’m not,” the elderly man with the white beard said negatively. Then, he studied him and Ashton for a long moment before grinning a little. You indeed look like the Summerton family, but it would be better if you spoke with a little more decency later. The Great Master cherishes seniority and is a highly serious individual.”
Love At The Wrong Table Chapter 1930-“Uh?” After a brief period of shock, Julian bowed and said, “Thank you.” “Mm.” The elderly man with the white beard was nonetheless fairly amiable.
The stone door behind him opened with a sudden wave from him.
The thrée young people were in disbelief, not understanding the underlying idea.
Only Ashton seemed to have some understanding. To open the door from the outside, one had to have a strong internal strength. If it were up to them, they would most likely push until they ran out of energy and still be unable to open this stone door.
“Go in.” The white–bearded old man waved, and the three of them boldly entered the place.
Behind the stone door was a picture–perfect rural setting, with a light mist underneath the artificial pavilions, ponds, tables, and chairs. They were all in to her their natural surroundings. It appeared to be a utopia.
Great Master Salem With the help of a young, stunning woman, an elderly man emerged carrying a cane with a head shaped like a dragon. He had an intimidating, serious appearance.
However, Roselynn and Ashton could not suppress their contempt. The man was significantly older than the woman. As expected, all men were alike. They questioned inwardly whether all males were attracted to young women in the eighteen to twenty–four age range.
“Are you my grandson and granddaughter who have been wandering outside?” the young woman asked.
The trio exchanged glances with one another. In response to the elderly man’s gentle reminder, Julian bowed appropriately and introduced himself as Julian Summerton. These two are my sister and wife, respectively,” he said. “May I inquire about your names?” He feared making the same error twice. In addition, he had no desire to be the grandchild of a woman like that.
Nobody knew who was older between the two.
*Humph, Julian Summerton? Not a bad name! The young woman Great Master Salem introduced, “The person next to me is your ancestor, Great Master Salem! I’m his twenty–eighth wife. You can call me Great–Grandma.” Immediately, Ashton and Roselynn expressed their displeasure with murmured complaints. “His twenty–eighth wife? He’s quite elderly. Is he able to have sex with his wife?” “Exactly! I don’t appear older than her. Yet she’s aspiring to be our Great–Grandma? Is she kidding?” Boom!
The mountain shook tremendously when Salem Summerton suddenly slammed his cane.
“Ah!” Taken by surprise, Julian collapsed to the ground.
“Absurd! Unfaithful offspring! Now, get on your knees! I’m going to kill you all if you talk rudely again!” Salem gave a fierce yell.
Although Julian had no fear of dying, he was terrified that Salem would Great Master Salem murder Ashton and Roselynn. In a moment, he dropped to his knees and said, “Great–Grandpa, my wife and sister are used to speaking their minds.
Please pardon them.
“Humph, would you like us to pardon them? Then why aren’t they pleading for forgiveness on their knees?” Salem’s twenty–eighth wife sneered in response.
Ashton gritted her teeth and refused to kneel.
“We only get down on our knees before our parents,” Roselynn said icily, “We won’t bow down and ask for forgiveness!” Though utterly powerless, Julian was unable to convince Roselynn either.
Roselynn’s character was the reason he fell in love with her. When he saw Salem’s hostile gaze, he quickly stood up, stood in front of Roselynn, and shouted, “Great–Grandpa, I’ll get down on my knees if you wish for that! If you want to kill someone, kill me! Leave my wife alone.” Salem replied, “You do have some of the Summerton family’s spirit.” At the same time, the malicious glare in his eyes began to fade. “Are you not Great Master Salem terrified of dying?” “Who isn’t afraid of death?” “Of course, it’s good to be alive, but if the person I love is not living, then I don’t want to live either,” Julian calmly retorted, “You’ll have to find someone else if you’re seeking someone to manage your business outside and supply weapons.” He finally moved Salem. The serious man smirked and said, “I didn’t expect our Summerton family to give birth to such a romantic and loyal person!” “Due to your assertive nature, even though you’re not my direct descendant, I will not linger on these insignificant issues. Tell me, then, what you need from me.” “Great–Grandpa, none of the members of my Summerton family have been spared!” Julian shouted. He had no time to figure out the relationship between Salem and himself. He decided to address Salem as his great–grandpa, given the introduction given by Salem’s wife. After all, Salem Great Master Salem looked like he was truly close to a century old, so calling him that would not hurt.
“I’m aware of this, but who dares to lay a hand on the people of ox Summerton family?” With a deep voice, Salem spoke, There had to have been individuals observing and sharing information because he had left the Onza Summerton family outside to conduct business,
