Chapter 321

Unexpected Suspicions.

Finished

The elevator chimed softly as the doors glided open, prompting nearly twenty assistants and secretaries to promptly stand and bow respectfully.

Fraser, accompanied by Summer, strode directly into his presidential office.

The office was as luxuriously understated as ever..

Massive floor-to-ceiling windows offered a sprawling view of Havenbrook's mirage-like skyline, with the

city's iconic buildings nearby.

A whole row of luxury car models still claimed prominence on the wall, and a new addition was a golf practice area in one corner of the office.

"Why did you bring me to your office?" Summer asked.

Fraser wrapped his arms around her petite frame from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder, his voice deep and seductive, "From now on, you can come in whenever you like."

"I'm not bored enough to check up on you," Summer retorted haughtily.

"Oh, you, Fraser chuckled, pinching her cheek. "Others can't just come here as they please."

"Then go find someone else?"

Fraser's voice was magnetic and tender, casually saying, "Can't help it; my heart's already full, no room for anyone else."

Summer couldn't help but curl her lips slightly.

A bright smile spread across her face like a summer breeze, she leaned back against his broad chest, glancing up at him sideways.

Fraser's profile was chiseled and noble, from the high bridge of his nose to his perfect jawline- his face was irresistibly handsome.

She suddenly remembered the last time she was here to transfer the remaining 500 million dollars to the Stewart Group, and then Fraser had proposed she become his girlfriend.

That was the beginning of their story, she thought, smiling even wider, her fingers lazily tapping

on his arm.

Fraser felt the light, ticklish touch on his arm, and hugged her even tighter, nearly melding her against him.

A smile formed on Summer's lips, "You said you wanted me as your girlfriend; was that premeditated?"

Fraser glanced at her nibbling gently on her delicate earlobe, his voice low and enticing "Looks

Summer blinked slowly, and after a moment, her voice soft. "Fraser, do you really like me?"

Or did he just think I was conveniently there and just good-looking enough?

And she was carrying his child. Was it all just a misunderstanding... "Don't you believe it?"

Summer did believe-believed in Fraser's kindness and everything he did for her.

But she was more afraid.

Afraid that one day he'd wake up and realize he just liked her, that it wasn't true love.

If that happened, she wouldn't have the strength to get back up.

Fraser watched as Summer's long, lush lashes fluttered, her eyes twinkling.

He lifted her up and sat her on the wide office desk, standing right in front of her, face to face.

He lifted her chin, his gaze deep and serious, “Listen carefully, Summer, I fell for you a long time

ago.

And so, she looked into his deep, mysterious eyes, so profound and gentle, captivating her heart.

Summer leaned back slightly.

Accidentally, she knocked over a photo on the desk.

She glanced at it briefly.

it was the "little girl and dog" picture she hadn't seen clearly last time.

Remembering this, Summer knew it was about Fraser's first love.

But right now, she didn't want to hear him speak fondly of another woman.

Reflexively, Summer jumped off the desk.

"I... need to go back."

"Co where?"

"Home."

"Aren't you going to look at the photo?"

Closing her eyes, she said defiantly, "I don't want to! Everyone has a past, and I respect yours."

spreading warmth from his chest.

"Summer, what are you overthinking, hmm?"

"I'm not overthinking anything."

"If you're not overthinking, why are you afraid to look?" Fraser teased her, his

voice low and playful, "Afraid of seeing another woman?"

Caught by his accurate guess, Summer's face flushed with a mix of annoyance and embarrassment. She turned to leave, but Fraser caught her hand from behind.

The next second. Fraser wrapped his arm around her waist, pulling her into his embrace. He picked up the photograph and held it in front of her, his tone leisurely, "What, do I need to introduce you to yourself now?"

Me? How could it be?

Summer couldn't believe it.

"What are you talking about?"

"Take a good look for yourself. If that little girl in the photo isn't you, then who is it?"

If that little girl isn't you, then who is it? Fraser's deep, teasing voice echoed in her ears, over and over again.

Each word resonated clearly and definitively, sending a jolt through her heart.

After a moment, Summer slowly reached out and picked up the frame; the photo of Fraser's first love was now clear before her.

The little girl, her face turned sideways, her features youthful, her eyes bright. She wore a blue and white dress adorned with a pattern of Pudding, squatting and embracing a small dog in play.

Suddenly, a flash of lightning-like memory struck Summer.

This dress was a gift from Yolanda's nurse friend.

Once, in a fit of anger, Yolanda had yanked at her, tearing the dress.

Summer couldn't bear to throw it away; she had patched it herself, though clumsily.

But Yolanda, disliking anyone being kind to Summer, had thrown it away anyway, leaving Summer in tears...

Thus, those long-buried memories, like a heavily sealed gate, slowly began to creak

open.

When she was very young, she had found a newborn puppy in a corner of the hospital.

The puppy was scarred and as emaciated as she was...

She had secretly fed it for a few days until Yolanda found out.

Yolanda forbade her from keeping the puppy, saying it would die if even she didn't want it.

Summer remembered mustering the courage to ask a young boy for help.

This young boy was handsome but aloof and unkind in speech.

Forgotten Memories Unveiled

But unexpectedly, this young boy agreed to help her take care of the puppy.

Summer thought maybe this young boy just had a bad temper, but a kind heart. She was happy, so she visited him daily at the hospital to play.

It gave her a chance to see the puppy, and the brother had lots of snacks. Gradually, Summer started to think maybe that handsome boy wasn't as bad as she had imagined.

One day she arrived early.

She saw a group of doctors in white coats coming out of the young boy's room. They seemed respectful to him but spoke ill of him as they left.

"Even as an heir to a wealthy family, what does it matter if he's lost his parents and suffers from depression?"

"They say he's cold-blooded and harsh, emotionless, beyond change."

Summer was furious! He had helped me with the puppy and shared his snacks with me, he wasn't the heartless person they described.

Summer felt she was this brother's friend..

So she visited more frequently, started to approach him actively, smiling at him. Although he still wore a blank expression.

His beautiful eyes would shimmer, and his lips would curl into a slight smile. His mood seemed to improve.

Summer was pleased. See, he wasn't some emotionless, cold-hearted boy after

all.

But then, one day, for some reason, Yolanda suddenly decided to resign from the hospital.

She left in a hurry, taking Summer with her the very next day.

Summer pleaded with Yolanda to let her go back to the hospital to say goodbye to her friend.

Of course, Yolanda ignored her.

Later, Summer wondered. Maybe he didn't care about my goodbye either.

But from then on, Summer never kept a dog again, since there was no one to help her take care

of one.

Thinking back on all this, Summer's voice was thick with emotion, "You... you were that young

Her voice choked, "So you... you recognized me a long time ago?"

Fraser's slender fingers gently tapped on Summer's forehead, "That's right, you ungrateful girl."

She thought. No wonder, that explained why Pudding felt so familiar...

After all, Pudding was hers.

Chapter 323

The Tearful Reunion

Pudding still remembered her. They all remembered her. Yet, I had forgotten them...

Summer's heart felt like it was being gently squeezed, heavy and suffocating, even her breath tinged with a sour pain.

Tears gradually welled up in Summer's eyes. I really am so cruel!

After a moment, she sniffed, "How did this photo come about?"

She didn't recall ever having taken such a photo.

Fraser's eyes were deep, staring intently at the photo as if recalling the past, his voice low. "This photo was taken when you were playing with Pudding; I snapped it on the sly."

Memories were like a canvas stained by time; though the colors were no longer vibrant, the bits and pieces of their past were veiled in a thin mist over them.

Summer blinked, struggling to hold back the tears threatening to spill, and feigned nonchalance, deliberately saying, "So, you fell for me back then."

The corners of Fraser's lips curved up, a smile spreading in his eyes, his deep, magnetic voice. sounding, "Mrs. Graham would be disappointed; I'm no pedophile."

Her previously sour mood was lightened a bit by laughter.

Her eyes, moist as if washed over by spring water and tinged red, quietly gazed at Fraser in front of her.

"Why didn't you tell me? Why... didn't you tell me sooner?"

Fraser masked the fleeting gloom in his eyes, maintaining a faint smile that concealed a hint of bitterness, his voice very light after a while, "Back then, you were in someone else's arms."

Guilt and remorse surged like the sea.

Summer's eyelashes trembled more violently, her throat feeling as if choked, her voice hoarse, "I... don't deserve it."

She didn't deserve his kindness.

Fraser's dark eyes stared deeply at her, his voice gentle and magnetic, word by word, "Whether you deserve it or not, that's for me to decide."

Tears that had gathered in Summer's eyes finally began to fall.

Summer stretched out her arms, wrapping them around his neck and burying her face in his neck, her tears soaking his shirt and trickling down from his chest, "You're going to spoil me this

way."

Fraser's eyes flickered with amusement, smiling, "If I spoil you, it's my responsibility to the end."

Hearing this, Summer hugged him even tighter.

It seemed like this could make up for the fact that she had once forgotten him.

Summer looked up, her clear, watery eyes gazing at the handsome, mature man. Though his features had matured, if she looked closely, she could still see the aloofness of the boy he once was. She tiptoed and kissed his thin lips, the kiss moist and apologetic.

In that instant, a tender current shot straight to Fraser's heart.

Fraser turned the tables, pressing the back of her head and deepening the kiss, savoring her

sweetness.

After a long while.

Summer leaned against him, breathing lightly, and whispered, "What if I hadn't chosen you in the end?"

What if I was still stubborn and hadn't seen him?

Fraser's gaze shifted slightly, he hadn't neglected to prepare for the worst; he just didn't like to think about it

Fraser pinched her nose, his voice low and somewhat domineering. "There are no ifs."

Summer's lips suddenly curled into a sly smile, like a crafty fox.

"I only just realized how domineering Mr. Graham can be."

Fraser raised an eyebrow, "You're only realizing this now?"

Listening to his suggestive tone, Summer looked up into a pair of smiling eyes and couldn't help blushing.

"Heh."

Fraser's relaxed and pleased laughter echoed through the office.

Just then, there was a knock on the door. Mike, hesitant and fearful of entering,

stood at the doorway, not eager to barge in.

But the entire executive board was waiting for Fraser to start the meeting.

The Tearful Reunion

Mike took a deep breath, opened the door, and was met by Fraser's cool

gaze.

Mike felt a chill rise from his feet, awkwardly saying, “Mr. Graham, you have a consortium reporting meeting this afternoon; it was... scheduled in advance."

Fraser appeared slightly annoyed at being interrupted, looking down and glancing at her tenderly, "Wait here for me. If you get tired, go to the rest area and sleep."

Summer noticed an identical colored door on the office wall, realizing this office

also had a rest

arca.

"Okay," Summer replied.

After Fraser left, she was alone in the office.

The marble desk held several contract files. A casual glance showed figures that required counting on fingers to comprehend fully.

Summer's gaze shifted away, even though she and Fraser were dating, she still respected these

boundaries.

She picked up the photo frame and looked at it again. Pudding had been so skinny and dirty as a puppy, even injured.

She hadn't expected it to be raised so well.

Counting the years, Pudding was quite old now.

Summer felt a pang at this thought and decided to talk to Fraser later about bringing Pudding home to live with them.

The spacious, bright conference room.

A nearly 30-foot-long massive conference table stretched across, with high- ranking executives in sharp suits seated neatly around it. On the screen was the Graham Group's financial analysis report for the year, dense with data and charts. The end of the month would bring the annual consortium conference.

The core members of the Graham Group, major shareholders, and esteemed elders were all expected to attend.

And the entire meeting would be recorded in the Graham Group's archives, so everyone took it seriously.

The Vice President wrapped up his presentation, saying, “Ladies and gentlemen, the financial reports clearly show that under Mr. Graham's leadership, the Graham Group has achieved remarkable results over the past year. We've seen a 20% jump in overall profits and an impressive 30% return on investment. However, there is a slight issue; our profits from overseas operations have declined by 15% compared to previous years."

Applause broke out in the conference room following his words.

The Vice President adjusted his glasses and continued, "Perhaps because the consortium conference is approaching, some of the minor shareholders have been making moves behind the scenes, especially after Mr. Graham's marriage announcement today. They might... act against you at the conference. Chapter 324 Boardroom Battles

After speaking, he quickly glanced at the man in the main seat, "Should we take... some precautionary measures?"

The room fell silent at these words.

The Graham Group had once planned a union through marriage with the Lastesh Group, and the two had closely cooperated.

However, the unexpected cancellation of this marriage plan directly led to a decline in overseas market share, which shareholders and elders were already discontent with.

And now, Fraser had suddenly announced his marriage to Summer.

Many saw it as a "charity marriage," stirring those already dissatisfied shareholders even more.

Fraser reclined in his chair, legs crossed, lashes slightly lowered, his face expressionless, his fingertips tapping the conference table leisurely, "Then what do you think we should do?"

Noticing Fraser contemplating his advice, the Vice President quickly proposed what he believed was a smart strategy. "Mr. Graham, even though you've announced your engagement, it might be wise to first address the concerns of the shareholders and the senior members. Perhaps... delaying the wedding could help?"

As soon as he finished speaking.

A cold, piercing gaze swept over him, and the Vice President instinctively fell silent.

Fraser smirked, laughing, “You're quite adept at this, aren't you? Why don't you take over as president?"

This emotionless response made the Vice President's skin crawl.

"No... I dare not, Mr. Graham. I... I spoke out of turn... Please don't mind."

These old coots, always grinning when collecting dividends, barely recognize themselves. But when it came to changes or reforms within the group, they had the loudest objections.

Now they even dared to meddle in his marriage. Fraser tossed his pen onto the conference table.

The sound of the pen clinking against the metal echoed in the eerily quiet room, causing all present to shift uncomfortably.

Fraser stood up, his cold gaze sweeping the room, his voice somber, "Get me a list, I want to know exactly who is standing against me, Fraser."

Meanwhile, in the executive office, Summer had been resting on the black leather sofa, accidentally dozing off.

She was awoken by a hurried phone call.

Listening to this barrage of questions, Summer's sleepy eyes gradually cleared. During this time, she had almost forgotten about this matter.

"I don't know how I fell asleep: must be your office sofa is just too comfy."

"Is that so?"

Fraser ran his fingers through Summer's soft hair, casually asking, "What would you like for dinner tonight?"

Leaning against his chest, Summer toyed with his tie. "How about something you make?"

A muffled chuckle came from his chest as Fraser laughed lightly. "Picky eater, huh? If you want me to cook, then what kind of service are you offering in exchange?"

Summer's lips curved more broadly, pretending ignorance, her breath sweet as she asked, "What service?"

"What do you think?"

"I don't know."

Fraser smiled. "How about you help me bathe**

He wrapped his arm around her slender waist, pulling her closer, her delicate scent filling his

Summer remembered something and looked up at him.

"Fraser, I want to bring Pudding back to live with us."

Knowing about Summer's pregnancy, Fraser had kept Pudding away from her, even though the dog was clean and well-behaved. He was just being extra cautious.

Fraser hesitated.

Knowing his concerns, Summer continued, "It's okay, I'm over three months along now, the baby is stable. Plus, Pudding is bathed daily and gets regular check- ups; it won't affect me. I've seen many pregnant women who keep dogs."

After a moment of contemplation, Fraser took out his phone and called the servants to bring Pudding to the Graham Mansion.

After hanging up, he saw Summer's expectant look.

Fraser chuckled and pinched her nose, "Happy now?"

Summer was genuinely delighted.

Even when she couldn't remember Pudding, she loved it so much, realizing Pudding was the puppy she'd once rescued made her eager to see it immediately.

It felt like regaining something precious.

She beamed up at Fraser, "Thank you."

Fraser stood up, a slight smile on his lips, "Let's go, my dear, let's go home."

Summer happily took his clean, long hand, following him out.

Half an hour later, they arrived at the Graham Mansion. The new butler, Taylor, immediately greeted them with several servants.

Fraser, leading Summer inside, was met by Taylor, who respectfully asked, "Mr. Graham, any preferences for dinner tonight?"

"No need, I'll cook."

As he spoke, the servants looked shocked.

Taylor, his jaw dropping then closing slowly in surprise, quickly ordered the servants to hurry.

Summer leaned against the door, arms crossed, watching his silhouette as he cooked. Even from just his back, one could sense his distinguished aura.

A man cooking indeed has a unique charm. Fraser, as if sensing her gaze, his deep, relaxed voice tinged with amusement, "I'm honored you're watching me like this.

Summer's cheeks flushed, and she turned her eyes away.

Just then, the sound of barking came from the doorway.

A smile broke across Summer's face-it was Pudding!

She looked toward the door just in time to see Pudding bounding forward, the butler Taylor being dragged behind by the leash, panting heavily,

It was hard to tell who was walking whom.

"Mr. Graham, Ms. Stewart, Pudding... I've brought... him in, Taylor said, drenched

in sweat, hist back nearly thrown out by the dog's strength.

The fluffy white Pudding, seeing Summer, barked even louder.

The barks echoed through the grand hall of the Graham Mansion.

Just as Pudding was about to leap onto Summer.

Fraser, appearing from nowhere, gestured and commanded, "You silly dog, stop."

Pudding, with its little stubby legs, skidded to a halt just a second before jumping on Summer, squatting on the ground instead.

It looked up at Fraser with eyes brimming with tears, the picture of misery.

Summer squatted down and gently stroked Pudding's fur, calling softly, "Pudding."

Pudding responded with enthusiastic barks.

"Pudding."

Again, Pudding barked in reply.

It was clear Pudding wanted to get closer, but Fraser's command held it back. Summer also wanted to hug it, but even before her pregnancy, picking up Pudding had been a struggle, and now it was impossible.

Summer earnestly explained, "I have a baby now, I can't hold you, you know. You might squish the baby. Once the baby is born, I'll lift you up high, okay?"

Fraser, overhearing this, glanced at Summer's delicate figure and was a bit speechless.

Lift it high? She doesn't realize how little she weighs. Not sure if it would be Pudding lifting her or her lifting Pudding.

Pudding seemed to understand, or at least it didn't try to get Summer to hold it anymore.

Fraser rolled his eyes, knowing this dumb dog got overly excited whenever it saw Summer.

He scolded. "No licking, keep your tongue in."

Pudding looked even more wronged, its round eyes turning as it sulkily wagged its tail high.

Seeing Fraser constantly scolding it, Summer got upset and shooed him away. "Aren't you supposed to be cooking? Why keep bothering it?"

"Hmm. Fraser raised an eyebrow, his status clearly dropped since the dog's arrival.

He commanded Pudding. "Behave yourself."

Then he went back to the kitchen to continue cooking.

Summer reassured Pudding, "Don't mind your dad, he's a bad guy."

Pudding barked loudly, agreeing with Summer.

But after being scolded, Pudding behaved well, just resting its head against

Summer's palm, not licking or seeking hugs anymore.

Summer felt the soft touch in her palm and her eyes moistened.

"Pudding, thank you for still remembering me."

In the bedroom, Fraser, smelling of cooking, had to take a shower due to his slight obsession with cleanliness.

When he came out of the shower, he saw Summer and Pudding sitting together

on the couch, a movie-themed song playing on the screen.

Fraser, drying his short hair with a towel, asked, "What are you doing?"

Summer saw Fraser emerge from the bathroom.

He was shirtless, wearing gray lounge pants, a towel around his neck, his black

hair damp, droplets silently falling onto his sculpted chest.

Feeling a bit thirsty, Summer's gaze inadvertently drifted back to the TV, "Watching a movie."

Fraser walked over and looked at Pudding,

He pointed to a spot next to them.

Reluctantly, Pudding moved over and settled down beside them.

Fraser nodded in satisfaction and sat down between the woman and the dog.

Summer's cheeks flushed, realizing this might be the first time she had dried his hair.

"This is to make up for your cooking tonight."

As she was about to set the towel down, Fraser grabbed her wrist and pulled her closer.

Summer found herself suddenly sitting on Fraser's strong thighs. He lifted her chin and gazed deeply into her clear, beautiful eyes, his tone lazy. "Just like this?"

As Summer looked into the handsome face drawing closer, her heart raced and her breathing quickened. At that moment, Pudding, sitting beside them and feeling neglected, let out an untimely bark.

Summer's ears heated up as she came back to her senses.

She tried to get off Fraser's lap, but his hands were firmly around her waist, keeping her in place.

"Stay here and watch the movie with me."

The movie was reaching its climax.

Fraser frowned, "What is this movie?"

The woman in the movie was crying and wailing, giving him a headache.

"It's about childhood friends. The guy confesses at a high school graduation, but the girl rejects him. He goes abroad to study. When he returns, they meet again and can't control their feelings. and get back together, but they still end up parting ways."

Fraser wasn't interested.

Summer added, "Yvette shot this romance drama; she asked me to watch it."

"Oh."

Thinking about how Yvette would surely ask about her thoughts on the movie, Summer looked at him expectantly, "What do you think of the movie?"

Fraser glanced at the screen again and didn't mince words, "The acting is mediocre, and the plot. is cliche."

Summer fell silent. Well, no need to be that straightforward.

At a celebration event somewhere, Yvette sneezed several times. Who's talking about me?

Suddenly, Fraser asked nonchalantly, "Why did they break up again at the end?"

After the movie, Pudding was still banished to the bedroom doorway.

Pudding sat obediently, sighing, resigned to its fate.

Fraser stared intently at her blushing face, his Adam's apple moving harshly as he spoke each word, "Say it, tell me you love me."

As they chatted, Yvette asked, "Summer, what did you think of my drama?"

Summer, eyes closed, opted for a simple facial hydration treatment. Just cleaning her skin and applying a hydrating mask.

The cool, moist mask made her already fair skin look even more delicate.

Hearing Yvette's question and remembering Fraser's "cliché plot, mediocre acting" comment, Summer coughed and replied, "It's okay."

Love Checks

Summer glanced over unintentionally and saw the bruised marks around Yvette's waist. Having had her share of similar experiences, Summer recognized the marks and teased, "Yvette, got a new boyfriend?"

A rare blush crept onto Yvette's face. "What boyfriend?"

"Don't change the subject. Who is it? He's pretty wild, not even sparing your waist. Could it be that he's also...?"

Yvette, a bit embarrassed, retorted, "Summer, you've turned naughty! Mr. Graham really corrupted you!"

Come on, spill it. Which model from the entertainment industry this time?"

Though Yvette's last boyfriend was a jerk, he was undeniably handsome, with his alluring, peach- blossom eyes that seemed to emit waves even through the TV

screen.

Having spent years in the entertainment industry, Yvette had clear priorities when it came to men. Good looks were her top priority, followed by a great physique, and lastly, obedience.

"Guess?"

Yvette played coy.

"Are you making me guess? Could it be Bobby?"

Summer was so excited she almost sat up in bed, "Did he manage to charm you?"

"Ugh! That man, even if he stripped naked, I wouldn't bat an eyelid!"

"Then...?"

Yvette said, "Xavier!"

Hearing that name, Summer was also startled and took a moment to respond, "Are you serious with him?"

"What's serious or not?"

Xavier was Fraser's good friend. Although they had only interacted a few times, Summer had a decent impression of him..

The Sation swirled in Summer's mouth before she somberly said, "Just don't play games with

"What! Aren't you my best friend? How can you side with a man, saying I shouldn't play with him? What about him playing me?"

Love Checks

Yvette seemed to recall something, her face brightening with a mischievous smile,

"Men are just about balancing hormones; he looked good enough to try"

Summer sensed from her tone that their relationship was perhaps more significant.

Yvette then changed the subject, "Let's not talk about me. You know how I am with relationships, free and easy. The CEO of the Graham Group's marriage announcement is out, Thinking that you'll be married next month feels like a dream."

Summer chuckled. "I feel the same."

“Mr. Graham making it global at least proves one thing, he's serious. How many men these days have girlfriends and yet parade around on social media like they're single?"

Yvette kept talking, noticing Summer's lack of response.

Turning her head, she saw Summer's gaze lowered, her eyes dim and thoughtful, as if pondering something deep.

"Summer, what's wrong? You're about to be a bride, don't tell me you doubt Mr. Graham's sincerity?"

Summer pursed her lips, "It's not that. I just feel guilty because I know he's sincere, Yvette. Your know I had planned to go abroad."

"You can't go if you're marrying Mr. Graham," Yvette puzzled, "Why would you still want to leave Havenbrook?"

"No, it's not that; I'm not going. But I haven't told my mom yet. She's already set everything up in Oblistan, and she's really looking forward to our new life there," Summer stated firmly

Yvette felt a headache coming on, "That's indeed troublesome."

Summer's smile was bittersweet, "What's more important is that I've never told Fraser about these things, and initially, I used him in a deal. Every time I look at him and want to tell him, I'm afraid he might ignore me if he knew."

Yvette watched Summer's confused expression.

After a pause, she said, "Summer, if he truly loves you, he'll forgive you. I think you should be bold and tell Fraser. Plus, would you have even done this if that nagging old lady hadn't kept pressuring you? It's not like you to just take hits without fighting back."

Summer glanced at her, "Isn't that what your movie said? The male lead left without hesitation after finding out!"

Yvette coughed awkwardly, "Well, movies are movies, life is life."

"You don't know; sometimes life is more melodramatic than movies."

Love Checks

Summer sighed, catching Yvette's rare serious tone, "Summer, just be brave for him once?

At the Graham Mansion, Xavier was led by a servant through the corridors and into the vast back garden.

The garden was a riot of colors, with all kinds of precious plants everywhere. In the center was a delicately crafted fountain, its clear waters flowing gently from the stone sculpture.

Fraser, dressed casually, was squatting down, tossing a plastic ball for the fluffy Pudding. Each time Fraser raised his hand, he threw the ball far into the distance.

The ball ended up in some forgotten corner, but after a while, Pudding always managed to return. precisely, ball in mouth.

From the corner of his eye, Fraser saw Xavier approaching and casually stood up, walking over to sit on a garden chair.

As Pudding came back with the ball,

Xavier, carrying a toolkit, opened it and pulled out a stethoscope. He crouched down and. expertly began a basic check-up on Pudding.

Seeing this. Pudding dropped the plastic ball on the lawn and obediently stayed still for Xavier's examination.

Once Xavier finished, Pudding immediately ran back and settled next to Fraser's leg.

"He's healthy, just his stomach's a bit weak; he's getting old after all. You might want to ease up on the intense activities."

Pudding seemed to understand and barked loudly, as if to deny his age.

Xavier clicked his tongue, "Can you believe it? I've known Pudding this long, and he's still like this.

with me?"

After all, he was the hospital director and had been moonlighting as a vet for nearly ten years. This ungrateful dog really didn't know how good he had it.

Fraser's thin lips curled slightly, "Maybe it's because you're not exactly charming." Me, not charming? In Havenbrook, who doesn't know I am the most likable? Not to mention this Pudding. who only has eyes for its master. That really hurts!

Fraser lounged back in the chair, casually propping up a leg and reached down to pet Pudding at

his feet.

"Did you hear that? You're old, buddy. Tone it down a bit, will you? Don't always snatch up the ball expecting me to play."

Pudding lifted his proud head and turned away. Xavier couldn't help but laugh.

"I have to say, he's a lot like you; just as proud.”

The two men sat on one side of the garden, against a backdrop of colorful flower bouquets, looking every bit the part of handsome figures in a portrait.

Proposals Gone Wild

Xavier picked a grape. "Did you call me over just to check on Pudding?"

That dog, Pudding, was Fraser's pampered pet.

Not one, but two dedicated dog nannies, and no less than three vets just for him.

Fraser sipped his coffee, gazing at the fluffy Pudding playing in the distance, and said. deliberately, "I'm going to propose to Summer."

Xavier was stunned for a moment. Then he asked, "Aren't you guys already planning to get married? How come you haven't proposed yet?"

That comment earned him a chilling look from Fraser.

Xavier chuckled nervously, taking a sip of his coffee, "I was just curious, that's all, haha."

Fraser's eyes were deep, his fingers slowly rubbing the coffee cup, "You've had quite a few girlfriends. What's a proposal supposed to be like?"

Xavier, who had just taken a sip of coffee, choked upon hearing this.

"What do you mean I've had quite a few girlfriends?"

Fraser gave him a sharp look, "Isn't that the case?"

Xavier straightened up, "I might have had one or two, but I've never proposed!" Finished

He was a committed bachelor, and any marriage would be an arranged one by his family; why would he need to propose?

Fraser, ever so serious, said, "You must at least know something about it. I'm giving you this chance to offer me a suggestion."

Xavier was speechless. Giving me a chance? Wasn't it just that Fraser, the privileged bachelor, was out of ideas? Right! He, this naive boy, had only ever been with Summer.

Xavier adjusted his tie, "Then I'll just have to force myself to use my clever and romantic brain."

"Underwater proposals are all the rage these days. They involve diving down, the guy pulling a ring from the coral reefs, and holding up a sign that reads 'Marry me?' in a romantic setting. Picture the enchanting underwater scene, a once-in- a-lifetime thrill; Summer would definitely

say yes."

Xavier got so carried away talking about it, he almost wanted to stage a proposal himself.

Thinking of whom he would propose to, a certain woman's image flashed through his mind.

That's just spooky!

The next second, he looked up to see Fraser's icy gaze on him, his voice somber, "You want my

Xavier smacked his forehead, "Oh, I forgot Summer's pregnant! Sorry, didn't think about that; next idea."

Xavier kept racking his brain for those elusive romantic ideas.

Fraser, stone-faced, rejected each proposal one after another, despite each being incredibly

romantic.

No matter what, Fraser found something wrong with each of Xavier's ideas, all the while giving him a look that seemed to imply he could do better.

By the end, Xavier started to doubt his own creativity

"There's one last idea. In Frostland, while waiting for the aurora to appear, you could kneel on one knee, with a reindeer bringing the ring, and make your vows under the northern lights. Any woman would agree to that!"

Fraser narrowed his eyes, deep in thought.

"A reindeer could be swapped for Pudding. Pudding can't go to Frostland, but changing the location could work."

It seemed they finally had a workable proposal idea, and Xavier let out a sigh of relief.

"You could probably just casually mention to Summer in the Graham Mansion, 'Marry me, and I bet she'd agree."

Fraser's eyes darkened, his voice tinged with bitterness, "I overheard her phone call; she's planning to leave Havenbrook."

He had heard her talking with Julia by the office door and had wanted to confront her directly.

But in the end, he didn't have the courage. Ridiculous, as the CEO of the Graham Group, I was scared.

Afraid of hearing her confirm she wanted to leave Havenbrook. Later, he had tentatively asked Summer if she was hiding anything.

She said no. He couldn't quite describe how he felt at that moment; Fraser felt a sting in his heart.

"What? Are you sure you heard right?"

Xavier looked at Fraser's somber expression, "And you still want to propose?"

"Since she chose not to tell me, she must have her reasons. On the day I propose, I'll transfer 20% of the Graham Group's shares into her name."

Xavier's mouth dropped open in shock.

"Fraser! Are you serious? Are you insane? Do you realize what 20% of the shares mean? If Summer has any ulterior motives, those shares could be enough to bring you down."

"I know."

Xavier couldn't help but try to knock some sense into this love-struck fool. Fraser's eyes were intense, his voice earnest, I'll go the extra mile for her. That's what I want to give her.

From afar, a servant approached respectfully,

"Mr. Graham, Ms. Stewart has returned."

Summer walked into the Graham Mansion and, hearing from the servants that Fraser was in the backyard with Pudding, headed straight there.

As she strolled down the long corridor, she didn't expect to see Xavier there too.

Xavier greeted her with a smile, "Hey Summer, long time no see."

Thinking about him being Yvette's boyfriend,

Summer's curious gaze lingered on him for a few seconds longer, "You're here today too?"

"Yeah, just checking up on Pudding"

Speaking of Pudding, the thought of the old dog worried her.

"Pudding's okay, right?"

"Don't worry, it was just a routine check-up. Pudding is still lively, has a few good years left.

Summer nodded, "That's good to hear."

Meanwhile, Fraser, feeling neglected since Summer had been chatting with Xavier since she entered the garden, frowned and gave Xavier a cold look, his tone impatient, "Aren't you leaving?

Xavier was stunned. Not even inviting me for dinner, and he's rushing me out? Observing Fraser's dark mood,

Xavier internally scoffed at his friend's fickleness. Well, gets a wife and forgets me...

Xavier awkwardly explained to Summer, "Summer, I've got some stuff to handle, I'll take off now. See you around."

After saying this, Xavier quickly made his exit.

Summer watched as Fraser lounged in his chair, leg propped up in a relaxed

pose, yet his face was expressionless as he stared at his phone.

The backyard was bright and cheery like the sunny weather, yet a chill seemed to hang in the air.

Summer walked up to him, "Hey."

Fraser didn't resnond- the flickering light from his phone screen cast shadows on his sharnly

Having been with him for so long, Summer could tell he was in a sour mood.

She playfully tested the waters, "Ignoring me? Then I'll just head back to my room."

Seeing no reaction from him, Summer turned to leave...

But just as she did, her wrist was caught by Fraser's firm grip from behind.

With a gentle pull, Summer found herself sitting on his muscular thigh. Summer's face heated up, "The servants are right here."

The garden had four gates, each diligently guarded by two servants.
