Vicky stood in front of the window, feeling glad that she had returned home in time.

She had been out the whole day and was feeling exhausted. She closed the curtains and went for a quick shower, before hurrying to bed to rest.

She listened to the sound of raindrops falling outside her window and soon drifted off to sleep.

She took some time to process what was happening, and that was when she finally realized something was wrong.

Someone was forcefully kissing her.

It was as if all the oxygen was being sucked out of her; she was suffocating under the weight of it all.

In an instant, Vicky snapped back to reality and forcefully pushed the man off her. "Tyler, I thought you left?!" she exclaimed.

He halted his movements.

In the dark, they could not see each other's expressions, but Vicky could feel the intense gaze that was upon her, alongside a daunting oppressiveness.

"I waited for you to bring the clothes to me, but instead of delivering them, you went back to sleep instead..." His voice sounded hoarse and unnatural.

Vicky immediately tried to explain herself, "I looked for you in the living room and the study but you weren't there. I thought you left..."

"I waited for you in the guest room until midnight, but you never showed up," he said. "Vicky, you've achieved your goal.

Before Vicky could ask what he meant by that, he lowered his head and kissed her once again.

Vicky wanted to explain herself, but no words could escape her lips; her struggles and resistance were slowly subdued one by one.

Although they've slept together before, Vicky still felt incredibly uneasy and was on the verge of giving up on everything.

When Vicky woke up, the sun had already risen a few hours ago. The rain outside had stopped, but the sky remained gloomy and overcast.

Vicky glanced at the empty spot beside her on the bed and noticed that Tyler was gone.

Tyler shrugged and leisurely laid on the sofa. All this while, he maintained a relaxed and elegant posture, as if he were in his own home. "I just want you to give me an explanation, Ms. Shaw."

"What kind of explanation?"

"When you needed me, you did everything to grab my attention. You even used Aurora to get closer to me. Now that you no longer need me, you want to cast me aside?" He gazed at her with a half-smile. "Vicky Shaw, do you take me for some guy from a nightclub that you can cast aside whenever you feel like it?"

Looking at the screen, she realized that it was a call from Aurora.

She stared at her phone while it vibrated for a while before answering the call. Vicky could not bring herself to act like close friends with Aurora and said, "Miss Starling."

"Vicky..." Aurora called out weakly. "I'm outside your door... Can you come outside for a moment?" 1

Startled, Vicky said, "What?!"

"It's been raining all day and it's dark out here. I'm really scared..."

Vicky gazed outside the window and spotted a slim figure outside the main door.

Suddenly, she heard a faint sound of the front door closing coming from the direction of the mansion’s entrance. Vicky thought the sound was made by Aurora, so she hurriedly walked out of the kitchen.

However, when she saw a tall figure confidently walking in, Vicky froze.

"Tyler Hart, why are you here? And... How did you know the password for my door lock?"

Tyler glanced at her and took out a bunch of keys. "Does it look like the door is only accessible with a password?"

Smart locks usually came with a set of keys for emergency purposes. After divorcing Tyler, Vicky changed the password but did not replace the lock.

She thought that since it was Tyler who proposed the divorce, he would not think to use such a method to come back. Therefore, she thought that changing the password would be more than enough to keep him out. She did not expect him to shamelessly use the keys to access what was now her house.

She gripped the knife with all her might and stabbed Tyler in the chest.

Blood trickled down the knife and slowly tainted his white shirt.

The hospital corridor was illuminated by harsh white lights and the Operating Room's logo stood out like blood.

Vicky lowered her head, stood motionless at the entrance of the operating room, and had a vacant expression.

Footsteps echoed from the other side of the corridor, indicating that Aurora had returned after signing the papers and paying the fees.

Seeing Vicky's numb expression, Aurora hesitated for a moment, before approaching Vicky. "The doctor told me that Tyler's stab wound didn't hit any vital organs. You have nothing to worry about." She whispered.

Upon hearing Aurora's words, Vicky's eyelashes fluttered, and she lifted her gaze. "I..." She tried to speak, but her voice came out hoarse and barely recognizable.

Aurora interrupted her before she could finish. "Vicky, this isn't your fault. It's all my fault..."

Vicky looked at Aurora. "How is this your fault?"

Aurora lowered her head in guilt. "Before I came to you, I had an argument with Tyler. You know how I'm afraid I can become when I'm alone... So I wanted Tyler to stay with me,

Vicky thought back to what Tyler did to her when she lost her memories; how he pushed her buttons and challenged her limits repeatedly.

However, as much as she resented him for it, she could not kill him for it; and he knew all of this.

"Is this one of your ways of getting revenge?" Vicky stared at him. "What do you want from me?"

"Aurora begged for mercy on your behalf and asked me to forgive you," he whispered into her ear. "Out of respect for her, I will forget that this ever happened, but..."

Loving You In Secret Chapter 1039-He continued in a low voice, "You should take responsibility for what you did to me. From today onward, you will have to take care of me until my wound recovers."

She snapped her head around to gape at him. "That's ridiculous! Why would you-"

"Aurora and I will be staying here until I get better," he answered.

Aurora did not buy it and chuckled. "I know you two don't get along. Why else would you get a divorce? If something really was going on between you two, you wouldn't dare keep it from me. It's settled, then. Leave taking care of Tyler to me. You can get on with your life and we won't cause you any trouble." She tapped Vicky on the shoulder and said, "I should go and check on Tyler. It's getting late, so you should get some sleep."

With that, Aurora left the room, and Vicky remained frozen in place.
