Ch. 1361..1370
Chapter 1361: Ready to go to Country J in 1360
Tan Rou said, “Hello, King. I am Tan Rou, the owner of TR Company.”
After hearing Tan Rou’s words, the machine translated them just one second later.
Hang Wei, after hearing the translation, repeated the translated sentence, “Hello, King. I am Tan Rou, the owner of TR Company.”
Tan Rou nodded and replied, “The translation is very accurate, but I have only spoken in short sentences. I still need to try a few longer sentences to test it.”
Hang Wei said, “Then have it translate the sentence I just said.”
Tan Rou did not want to spend time thinking of other sentences, so she very disdainfully used the sentence Hang Wei had said, “I think you should seriously listen to me about the simplest way to solve this problem.”
Indeed, the machine could not translate long sentences. It could only translate half of them when it encountered them.
After testing, Tan Rou said, “It looks like there are quite a few things that need improving.”
Hang Wei nodded and said, “Then you should hurry up and improve it. Once it’s improved, bring it back for me to use.”
Tan Rou replied, “I also need to let Shang Jin and the others use it because creating this translator was intended for them. If the translator can’t translate proper nouns, then it would have been created for nothing.”
Hang Wei’s thoughts diverged quickly, “Boss, can you add an extra function to it?”
Tan Rou thought Hang Wei was going to suggest something good, so she asked, “What function do you want to add?”
Hang Wei, with a naive smile, said, “Could it translate pet vocalizations? I have a disobedient Husky at home; it always tears up my sofa. So, I want to talk to it and have it listen to me.”
Tan Rou really wanted to throw the translator at his face. She said, “Solve it yourself,” then walked away with the translator.
Hang Wei kept muttering from behind, “Boss, if you really develop a pet translator, a lot of people will buy it.”
Tan Rou ignored him and took the translator to the development department.
After testing it, Shang Jin and the others couldn’t stop praising the translator, but they also made a suggestion that made Tan Rou roll her eyes.
“Boss, can you make it into a cat language translator?” Shang Jin asked quietly, “There are many stray cats under my building. They meow downstairs every day, and it keeps me from sleeping. If I could communicate with them, I could ask them not to disturb me.”
Tan Rou’s mouth twitched, “Do you think my translator was created to facilitate communication between you and pets?”
Shang Jin was more articulate than Hang Wei and replied, “Boss, this is also for us to work better. If those stray cats keep disturbing me downstairs, then I won’t be able to sleep. If I can’t sleep, it will affect my mental health, and how am I supposed to work then?”
Tan Rou replied, “Oh, your reasoning is quite valid.”
“Hehe, I’m also considering the company,” Shang Jin said.
Tan Rou walked away with the translator, “I’ll take your suggestions seriously. But I can’t confirm when the pet translator will be developed.”
Shang Jin waved goodbye to Tan Rou, “Boss, you should develop the translator soon so we can work better.”
As time passed, Tan Rou’s translator and Shang Jin’s robots made significant progress, allowing the plans for the trip to J country to be arranged.
After arranging a suitable time with J country, Tan Rou prepared to leave. Zhuang Liu did not accompany Tan Rou, nor did he talk about sending someone to protect her, but he told her to be safe, and if she encountered anything interesting in J country, to let him know.
Tan Rou promised him.
The night before leaving for J country, Lin Yu contacted Tan Rou, saying he would accompany them throughout the trip to J country.
Tan Rou was very pleased to accept, as Lin Yu knew multiple languages. Having him as a translator was much more useful than a translating machine, which could only translate two languages and couldn’t be used once it left a specific scene.
“Send me a message when you arrive,” Zhuang Liu told Tan Rou at the airport, “Try not to go out alone; if you do want to go out, make sure several people accompany you.”
Tan Rou, holding his hand, said, “I will be very busy once I arrive in J country; I won’t have time to wander around.”
Chapter 1362: 1361 Exotic Scenery
The plane took off quickly, flying from the Capital to the capital of Country J, a fifteen-hour journey. Midway, the plane would stop in another country for an hour, during which passengers could buy what they needed or use the restroom.
This was Tan Rou’s first flight to a western country, so she also disembarked during the layover. Country J, their destination, was a landlocked nation with no sea on any side, and the climate was rather dry; hence, the closer they flew to Country J, the stronger the sandstorms became.
The airport where they stopped was not within the borders of Country J, but it was also a landlocked nation with a similarly dry climate. Now, being summer in the northern hemisphere, the airport felt like a massive furnace.
Shang Jin followed Tan Rou off the plane, and as soon as she stepped outside, she felt a wave of heat blast her face, so she immediately covered her head with her hat and took out a portable fan to blow at herself.
“Oh my god, I must be crazy; otherwise, I definitely wouldn’t choose to travel to a landlocked country during this season,” Shang Jin said, hand on her brow and eyes gazing into the distant land, a look of agony on her face, “My eyes hurt just seeing that sandstorm, as if the sand has already flown into my eyes.”
Lang Yue was the last one out, and upon hearing Shang Jin’s words, he immediately said, “I just told you, the terrain here is quite flat, and the surroundings are gravelly, so a lot of sand gets blown up by the wind.”
Shang Jin asked, “Did you bring any goggles? Quickly lend me a pair to block the sand; otherwise, my eyes are going to be ruined.”
Lang Yue said, “No, if you want goggles, you can buy a pair on the plane, I just saw a flight attendant selling them.”
Shang Jin, with a grim expression, said, “I’m not buying, everything is too expensive on the plane, I can’t afford it. ”
The outside was incredibly hot, and Tan Rou also felt her head ache from the intense sunshine. Wiping the sweat on her face, she said, “Once we arrive in Country J, everyone should apply a layer of sunscreen to avoid getting sunburned.”
Shang Jin waved her hand weakly and said, “No more, I can’t stand being out in the sun any longer; if I stay in the sun a bit more, I feel like I’ll turn into a mummy from an ancient tomb.”
Lang Yue frowned slightly and said, “Can you not mention something so gruesome?”
Shang Jin said, “Believe me, I’m not talking about a horror movie, I’m stating the facts.”
Hearing her say this, Lang Yue also felt his face stinging from the sun. He quickly put on the hat from his T-shirt and said, “Boss, haven’t you seen enough? I think there is nothing to see here but the plane or the sandstorm. We should head back to the plane early.”
Tan Rou was just feeling a bit stuffy from being on the plane for so long. She initially thought about stepping outside for fresh air, but it was unexpectedly hot outside; if she tried to get some air here, she figured she would be cooked alive before breathing freely.
“Alright, you guys go ahead,” Tan Rou said. “I’ll follow you.”
Just as they were preparing to board the plane, they suddenly heard a fierce shout, “Stop, don’t come any closer!”
Tan Rou and her companions understood the words, so they subconsciously turned back to look.
A skinny child was running towards them, with two men in uniform chasing him, holding sticks about half a meter long, very much resembling police batons.
Shang Jin asked, “Are those two men police officers? Why are they chasing a child?”
Lang Yue caught sight of what the child was holding and then said, “Probably a thief. The public security in this country isn’t very good, and maybe the airport security isn’t effective either. This kid is either a local who sneaked in to steal things or a foreigner abandoned here.”
“Should we help the police catch him?” Shang Jin was reluctant to get involved in others’ affairs.
Tan Rou didn’t want any trouble either. She said, “Let’s head back to the plane. Those two police officers are quite fast; the child won’t be able to outrun them.”
After saying this, she turned to leave.
“Help me!” The frail young boy let out several desperate screams. “Please… save me!”
Although Shang Jin didn’t understand his words, she could tell from his wailing that he was begging for help.
“Poor kid!” Though Shang Jin felt sympathy for him, she did not interfere with the police’s actions, as they were officers from another country handling their duties; they couldn’t interfere.
Chapter 1363: 1362 young thief
Tan Rou did look back at the little boy, not for any particular reason, but simply because he was speaking the language of J country, and she had been researching translators lately, so she was very sensitive to the J country language.
“Tan Rou, what are you looking at?” Shang Jin turned around and saw Tan Rou stop in her tracks, “Do you know that kid?”
“I don’t,” Tan Rou shook her head and said, “He’s speaking the J country language, so he must be J country too. I’ve been studying J country’s language and cultural customs lately, so I’m quite sensitive to it.”
“Well, it seems we have quite the fate with J country people, meeting them everywhere,” Shang Jin said, “Since that’s the case, should we stop and help the kid out? I think he’s at most ten years old, he can’t be that bad, right?”
Lang Yue however, advised her not to meddle, “This isn’t our country, and we don’t know the laws here. It’s better not to interfere. If we get held up here, it will delay our trip. It doesn’t matter for us two, we can just consider it a business trip. But it can’t delay the boss, she has to report back to school in September. If she gets held up by things here, it will affect her classes.”
With Lang Yue saying this, Shang Jin dared not to meddle and hurried Tan Rou, “Tan Rou, let’s get back to the plane, it’s too hot outside, I’m about to melt.”
Tan Rou nodded and replied, “Yeah, let’s go.”
However, they didn’t leave. Just as they were stepping onto the gangway, the little boy suddenly lunged at them. Tan Rou was at the back, so the little boy was trying to tackle her.
Tan Rou sensed the little boy’s approach and quickly sidestepped about a quarter-meter when he was still half a meter away from her. The boy didn’t tackle anyone and could only fall to the ground.
Shang Jin and Lang Yue heard the commotion behind them and immediately turned to look. When they saw the little boy on the ground, their first reaction was to ask Tan Rou if she was hurt.
“Tan Rou, are you alright?” Shang Jin jumped down from the gangway.
Tan Rou wasn’t scared by the little boy, but she was quite startled by Shang Jin, “What are you doing? That’s so high, what if you fell and got hurt?”
“I…” Shang Jin realized how dangerous her action had been after being scolded, “I was just worried about your safety. If something happened to you here, it would be a great fault.”
“I’m fine,” Tan Rou quickly changed the subject and asked the two policemen in the universal language, “What are you doing? Why are you chasing this child?”
One of the policemen, out of breath, replied, “I’m sorry, ma’am, we are catching a thief. If we’ve disturbed you, please forgive us.”
Tan Rou glanced at the two robust policemen, then looked at the frail child on the ground before asking, “What did he steal?”
The taller policeman scratched his head, “It seems like he stole some food.”
The shorter policeman said, “No, it looks like he stole a valuable gem from a lady.”
The taller policeman insisted on his view, “No, no, no, I’m sure he stole food.”
The other contradicted, “He definitely stole a gem. I couldn’t have heard wrong.”
Tan Rou and the others were at a loss for words at such a spectacle and could only stand by and watch the drama unfold.
Just then, the boy lying on the ground suddenly spoke up, “I’m just hungry, I want to eat some bread…”
The two policemen stopped quarreling and told Tan Rou, “We don’t know which country this kid is from, we can’t understand a word he’s saying. We asked if he stole something, but he only spoke gibberish and doesn’t speak the universal language.”
“He said he’s just hungry and wants some bread,” Tan Rou translated for the boy, “Is that bread in his hand? Is it so valuable that you’ve chased him for so long?”
Tan Rou then said to the boy, “Show them anything you might be hiding. If it’s bread, they might forgive your crime.”
The boy looked at Tan Rou with surprise, “You speak our country’s language?”
Tan Rou looked straight into the boy’s eyes, suddenly feeling that they resembled someone’s.
Laka!
Chapter 1364: 1363 can’t bear it
Tan Rou noticed the little boy’s eyes were very much like Laka’s, gray within the brown, like two beautiful gems.
On closer inspection, Tan Rou found the little boy didn’t seem like the typical thief; his clothes, though old, were clean, and his face was very clean, showing he cared about his appearance.
“Mmm,” Tan Rou nodded and continued to ask him, “What did you steal? Why did you steal?”
The little boy took out a loaf of bread he had been hiding in his arms. Because it had been squished, the once fluffy bread had almost become flatbread.
“I didn’t mean to steal, I was just so hungry, so I wanted to ‘borrow’ something to eat,” the little boy said, rubbing his stomach, “But hardly anyone can understand what I say, so I usually can’t ‘borrow’ food. I haven’t eaten for a day, and today I just couldn’t help it, so I took that lady’s red bread.”
Tan Rou looked blankly at the little boy, thinking that he certainly had a way with words. Stealing was stealing, and robbery was robbery, yet he claimed he was just asking to borrow food. He sure knew how to make excuses for himself.
Having seen Tan Rou’s expression, Shang Jin asked curiously, “Tan Rou, what did he say?”
Tan Rou replied, “He said he didn’t steal. He just asked someone for some food, they didn’t want to lend it to him, so he took a loaf of bread from there.”
“Oh my, this kid is so young, how can he talk like that?” Shang Jin was almost amused by the boy’s eloquence as she squatted down and asked, “Kid, where did you learn to speak like that? How come your speaking skills are so high?”
The little boy could not understand Shang Jin and just stared numbly at her.
Lang Yue handed Shang Jin a black box, “This kid is also from J Country, we can use him to test if this translator works well.”
Shang Jin gave him a thumbs-up, “You’re smarter than I am.”
But the two policemen wouldn’t give them time to test it. Capturing the boy meant they could complete their task, so they went over and dragged the boy to his feet.
“You little rascal can sure run.” The tall policeman slapped the little boy across the face, “Why aren’t you running now, huh? Run again, and I’ll break your legs!”
Although the little boy couldn’t understand what the police said, he still felt the slap on his face, and after being hit, he immediately burst into tears.
“Kind sister, please help me!” the boy cried, “If you help me get back to my country, I will give you lots of money!”
Hearing the translated words from the translation device, Shang Jin then asked, “Tan Rou, is the translation from the device accurate?”
Tan Rou replied indifferently, “Very accurate. But now’s not the time to discuss this, we have other things to deal with.”
Watching Tan Rou head over to the little boy, Shang Jin felt uneasy and asked, “Tan Rou, are you really going to help him?”
Tan Rou answered, “No matter what, adults shouldn’t strike a child who is at a disadvantage. If the child’s weak appearance is an act, then all I can do is admire his acting abilities. But if this child is truly weak, I don’t know what kind of torment he would go through if taken away by these policemen.”
Shang Jin also felt a twinge of pity and, pressing her lips together, said very seriously, “Let’s help him together!”
Lang Yue shook his head helplessly but eventually followed them.
Tan Rou, however, said, “Most of our layover has already passed. If I am going to intervene in this, I will definitely miss the boarding time. Don’t follow me; just get on the plane. Then please take my luggage off, and I will rebook the next flight out.”
Shang Jin disagreed, “We can’t let you be out here alone.”
Lang Yue also said, “If we’re going to rebook, then we’re doing it together. There’s no way we’re leaving our boss behind.”
Tan Rou looked at her two loyal employees and sighed, “Alright, you two rebook with me. Let the rest of the team take the flight to J Country’s airport; arrangements have already been made to receive them there. We need to notify Lin Yu to help us explain the reason for the delay.”
Chapter 1365: 1364 block
Lang Yue went to manage the issue of changing plane tickets, while Shang Jin followed Tan Rou. They stopped the police, intending to meddle in some affair.
The two policemen were a bit puzzled and asked, “Ladies, do you need any help?”
Tan Rou answered, “Thank you, but I don’t need help right now, though I can’t be sure whether I’ll need help later.”
The policemen were confused by her words and asked, “Ma’am, do you really need help or not?”
Tan Rou did not directly answer them; she pointed to the little boy the police were dragging and said, “Officer, what do you plan to do with this child?”
The taller policeman said coldly, “He stole someone else’s property, so he definitely needs to make restitution. Moreover, he damaged a lot of the airport’s public facilities during his escape, and he needs to pay for those damages as well.”
Shang Jin spoke out, “He’s resorted to stealing food, where is he supposed to get the money to pay the airport? Moreover, he hasn’t stolen anything valuable, just took a piece of bread. Is there any need to be so harsh?”
The shorter policeman waved them off impatiently, “This is a police matter and has nothing to do with you. You’d better not interfere, or I might take you away as well.”
Shang Jin, not one to take things lightly, seeing such poor attitude from the police of this country, immediately yelled, “If the police in our country were like you, they would have been condemned by the public long ago. Our police would never hit a child, let alone hit him for stealing a piece of bread at such a young age.”
The taller policeman scoffed, “If your country is so great, why did you even come to ours?”
Shang Jin was infuriated, “Do you think I want to be in your country? If it weren’t for the airplane stopping here for supplies, we wouldn’t even be here!”
Tan Rou tried to stop Shang Jin from arguing with them, “Senior, don’t argue with them. This is their turf, and if they take a dislike to us, they might call a bunch of policemen over.”
Shang Jin retorted, “Let them call the police; I don’t believe they can be that powerful.”
Tan Rou held back Shang Jin, who was ready to jump up and scold the police, and then said to the two policemen, “Officer, the child only stole a piece of bread and didn’t commit a grave mistake. Could we possibly discuss this with the stakeholder and let the child go? As for the compensation for the public facilities he damaged, I will pay the airport.”
The policemen were caught off guard, and they asked very curiously, “May I ask what relation you two have with this child? Are you his mother?”
“No,” Tan Rou replied. “I just feel that this child is so pitiful, I want to help him.”
The policemen fell silent for a moment, then said, “Well… how do you intend to help him? We need to clarify; if the reason you provide is unreasonable, we can still refuse.”
Tan Rou said, “First, please let him walk on the ground rather than grabbing his arm. Second, we want to find the person who accused him of theft, have him return the bread and apologize. If the accuser wants the bread, he can buy another new one to give to them.”
“This isn’t something we can resolve. You should go talk to the victim,” said the taller policeman before letting go of the little boy’s hand. However, he immediately cuffed the boy’s hands as if afraid he would run away.
Shang Jin muttered, “They are too brutal. Anyone who didn’t know better would think this young kid committed murder.”
The little boy, looking at Tan Rou with gratitude, said, “Kind big sister, thank you for speaking up for me. If I can return to my own country, I will definitely give you a lot of money.”
Tan Rou smiled and asked, “You don’t understand our language, so how do you know we are definitely helping you? Maybe we lost something and needed the police’s help.”
The little boy tried hard to show a smile and said, “My mom taught me to look into people’s eyes to know who has good intentions and who has bad intentions toward me. I could tell right away. Both of you sisters have beautiful eyes and nice voices, you are definitely good people.”
Chapter 1366: 1365 mom is a princess
Shang Jin was still using the translator when she heard the little boy praise her eyes and call her a kind person, which made her very happy. “Little guy, don’t worry, we will definitely help you,” she assured.
Tan Rou’s conversation with him irritated two policemen, who said fiercely, “Stop talking nonsense and don’t think about planning an escape. As long as the two of us are here, you will not be able to run away.”
Shang Jin disliked the way they were speaking, so she reminded them, “I’m terribly sorry, but we are not criminals; we are just passersby walking with you, and without a valid reason, you can’t just arrest us.”
The two officers didn’t want to create a diplomatic incident, so they chose to stay silent.
Shang Jin, however, was not about to let them off the hook, mumbling in her native language, “A couple of cowards, only know how to bully a weak child. Why don’t they try bullying those male passengers? Just today, a big and burly man stole something, would they dare to slap him?”
Tan Rou silently listened to Shang Jin complaining and did not stop her. The policemen in front couldn’t understand Shang Jin and didn’t dare to interrupt her rashly; thus, they had no idea they were being scolded all along the way.
The little boy was smart; hearing Shang Jin speaking loudly, he asked, “Is this big sister speaking up for me? Thank you!”
Tan Rou found the child extremely intelligent and noted his strong observational skills, sensing their intention to help him solely from their behavior and tone. Such keen observation was not something ordinary people possessed.
“I want to help him,” Tan Rou said to Shang Jin. “If I don’t help this child today, I might regret it for the rest of my life.”
Shang Jin stopped her grumbling and asked, “Why do you feel that way?”
“He’s very smart,” Tan Rou said. “If he can’t find his parents, I might consider taking him back to our country, sponsor his education, and give him the best schooling.”
“Huh?” Shang Jin didn’t understand why Tan Rou would think that far. “Tan Rou, you’re not confused by anger, are you? We still have to go to work, how can we take this child with us?”
“He must be from J country, let’s try to take him to J country first, then help him look for his family,” Tan Rou suggested. “If he can’t find his family, then I will take him to our country and do my best to educate him, so he can achieve something great in the future.”
“Anyway, you have money, you decide,” Shang Jin reminded. “But before you take this child back, you need to discuss it with Mr. Zhuang and see if he agrees.”
Tan Rou nodded, “Yes, I will discuss it with him.”
After crossing most of the airport, Tan Rou and her group finally met the lady who had lost her items in the waiting room. The lady was somewhat plump. Next to her were many boxes of desserts, and a kind of red bread that looked very much like the bread the boy had stolen—except hers was fluffy, while the one in the boy’s arms was flat.
“Oh, you’ve caught this little thief, that’s really great!” the chubby lady exclaimed, clapping her hands dramatically. “This child is too bad; he actually stole my most beloved ruby, and it ruined my afternoon tea, which is just too hateful!”
Since she was using a global language, Shang Jin could understand her, and after she mentioned her afternoon tea, Shang Jin couldn’t help but sneer, “You’re already so fat, can’t you eat less dessert?”
Tan Rou looked at Shang Jin, then cautioned, “Don’t use our native language here to avoid being understood by others.”
Shang Jin immediately covered her mouth and nodded, “You’re right, when speaking ill of someone, never use your own country’s language.”
“What’s your name? Where are you from? And where are your parents?” the chubby lady fired off a series of questions.
However, the little boy didn’t understand her, so he didn’t respond.
The lady was very annoyed, “I’m talking to you, can’t you hear me?”
Tan Rou intervened, “Young friend, she’s asking your name. Where are you from? Where are your parents?”
Understanding the question, the little boy replied, “My name is Agila, I come from J country, my mother is Princess Samiyi of J country.”
Chapter 1367: 1366 must bring him along
After listening to the little boy’s words, Tan Rou fell silent for a long time. She wondered if she had offended someone from the J country royal family in her past life. Could it be that she owed them a lot of money? Why did it seem that wherever she went, she would run into members of the J country’s royal family?
Shang Jin had turned off the translator to save battery, so she had no idea what the little boy had just said, but looking at Tan Rou’s expression, she knew that the boy’s words must have been shocking.
“What did he just say?” Shang Jin asked while turning on her own translator, “Did he say where he lives? And how did he get here?”
Tan Rou replied, “He didn’t tell me where he lives, but he told me who he is, and he also mentioned which country he’s from.”
Shang Jin pressed on, “He must be from J country too, couldn’t be that he’s also a Prince, could he? Speaking of which, his eyes are quite nice to look at, and they look a bit familiar too. It’s as if I’ve seen those eyes somewhere before.”
Tan Rou helped her recall, “Do you remember? Prince Alaka from J country has eyes just like that.”
Now it was Shang Jin’s turn to be shocked, “This little boy can’t really be a Prince, can he? Could he be Alaka’s son?”
“No, his mother is a princess of the royal family,” Tan Rou said, “Besides, Alaka is not that old, how could he have a son this big?”
Shang Jin also felt her speculation was too far-fetched, so she said, “Oh, he’s not Alaka’s son, then never mind.” But as soon as she realized what she said, her eyes widened in surprise again, “What? You said his mother is a Princess, so doesn’t that make him a little Prince too?”
The son of a Princess, how could he not be a Prince?
“Yes,” Tan Rou nodded, “If what he’s saying is true, then he is a Prince.”
“Hey, what is this kid talking about?” Two police officers who couldn’t understand Alaka’s language asked Tan Rou, “Can you communicate with him? Then could you translate for us what he just said?”
Tan Rou wasn’t fond of their attitude towards the boy just now, so she said with a smile, “I can indeed help you translate, but my translation isn’t free. If I’m going to help you translate, you’ll need to give me something in return.”
After all, Tan Rou wasn’t from this country, and there was no need for her to always do good deeds, especially since the two officers’ behavior was quite appalling. She didn’t want to help them translate for free.
The taller police officer glared at her and asked, “What kind of benefits do you want?”
Tan Rou patted the shoulder of Alaka, “I just realized, this kid is the child of a friend of mine who went missing. So, I plan to take him with me. Could you tell me what procedures are needed?”
“Ah?” The two police officers looked at each other with a guarded expression and said, “You’re not a child trafficker, are you?”
Tan Rou chuckled and then said, “Do I look like someone who traffics children? I know you don’t trust me, so that’s why I’m asking you to take me to process the paperwork. I want to take this child away.”
Whether or not Alaka was telling the truth, Tan Rou couldn’t possibly leave him here alone. She had to take Alaka back to J country to find his family.
She asked Alaka, “You say you’re the son of a J country Princess, do you recognize Prince Alaka?”
The little boy’s eyes widened, “You know Brother Alaka? No, wait, Brother Alaka is a public figure, so it’s normal for you to know him.”
Tan Rou said, “Maybe your Brother Alaka is famous in your country, but in other countries, not many people know him. Let me mention another person, do you know Mr. Lin Yu?”
If Alaka really was from the J country royal family, he would at least have heard the name Lin Yu, and he might even have met Lin Yu.
Upon hearing the name Lin Yu, Alaka had a bigger reaction than when he heard Alaka’s name. He asked excitedly, “Are you friends with Mr.Lin? Is it him who asked you to come find me?”
“We really are friends with Mr. Lin, but it wasn’t he who asked us to come find you,” Tan Rou said honestly, “We were invited by him to go to J country for a matter. Just happened to pass through here and met you, so we thought we might help you out.”
Chapter 1368: 1367 unreasonable demands
“If you’re not willing to leave with us, then we will go,” Tan Rou said coldly. “After all, taking you away from here is quite troublesome, and I don’t want to waste too much time here.”
Lajila hesitated, he indeed wanted to leave this place, but he was unsure whether he could trust this woman. His instincts told him she genuinely wanted to help him, but his days of wandering had made him realize there were many bad people in the world, and he couldn’t just trust anyone easily.
If Tan Rou knew what he was thinking, she would definitely leave without hesitation. It was this kid who had stopped them, and now it was also this kid who did not trust them. Given that, there was simply no need to waste more time on a stranger child.
If he was truly the princess’s son, and the princess still wanted to recognize this son, then Tan Rou would help him reunite with his parents. But if he was a scammer, once she took him to Country J, Tan Rou would send him into a juvenile facility to be reformed.
Shang Jin had already turned on the translator device, and she had heard all of Tan Rou’s conversation with the little boy, “You know Mr. Lin too? Are you really the Prince then?”
What she said was immediately translated into the language of Country J by the translator device. Lajila, hearing the familiar voice of his country’s language coming from the small black box, asked curiously, “Why can this black box speak our country’s language?”
Just as Shang Jin was about to answer him, the chubby lady next to them cut in first, “What are you discussing? Can’t you use a common language to discuss?”
The chubby lady had been there for quite a while; her flight was delayed, and her most cherished bread had also been taken by someone, which made her quite irritable, and her tone of speaking very aggressive.
“My ruby is very expensive, and this kid stole my stuff, he must pay!” the chubby lady pointed her finger at Tan Rou, “To me, taking a piece of bread is like taking half my life. Your actions are murderous, I will call the police on you!”
From the chubby lady’s words, Tan Rou concluded that what Lajila had stolen was indeed a “ruby”, but it was not an actual stone, rather the name of the red bread called “Ruby”.
Tan Rou didn’t have a sweet tooth, so she didn’t yet know how much this “Ruby” bread was worth, but it must have been expensive, or else the two policemen wouldn’t be after a kid for a piece of bread.
“How much is this bread?” Tan Rou asked, “I will compensate you. This boy’s parents are not with him, even if you catch him, he has no way to pay you.”
The chubby lady glanced at Tan Rou, then said with a sour tone, “Looking at your frail stature, I can tell you’re a pauper. My bread is very expensive, you can’t afford it.”
Upon hearing her words, Tan Rou just gave a faint smile and did not argue with the chubby lady. But Shang Jin was not someone to be trifled with; upon hearing the chubby woman calling Tan Rou a pauper, she immediately jumped out to argue with the chubby lady.
“Are your two eyes just for show? How can you tell that we are paupers? Let me tell you, we are very wealthy. Not just a piece of broken bread, I could even buy the whole bakery!” Shang Jin shouted at the chubby lady.
The chubby lady was not to be messed with either. She heard another skinny woman in front of her talking back, and she immediately started yelling, “Oh my God, what’s with this airport? How can they allow such rude people here?” She pointed at the two policemen and said loudly, “You do something about them quickly, don’t let them appear before me.”
Shang Jin really admired this woman. The airport waiting area was a public space; why should they have to leave? Just as Shang Jin was about to argue with the chubby lady, the two policemen made a move.
The two policemen made a “please” gesture, indicating that Tan Rou and her party should leave.
Shang Jin wondered, “What are you doing?”
The taller policeman said, “Sorry, but this lady has asked you to leave, so you must leave.”
“Why should we leave?” Tan Rou inquired, “Don’t you think this demand is unreasonable?”
Spreading his hands, the taller policeman said, “This lady is a VIP member of our airport, so she has the right to ask you to leave.”
Chapter 1369: Airport quarrel in 1368
Shang Jin had lived for over twenty years, but it was the first time she heard that airports also had a VIP system. She only knew about the split between first class and economy on the plane, but she didn’t know that even the waiting halls were divided into member and non-member areas.
So, Shang Jin said, “If she’s your VIP member, then why don’t you arrange a separate place for her? Staying in the hall isn’t great, is it? One moment, her stuff might get stolen; another, she’s bothered by the noise—how unpleasant!”
“I am a VIP member—who are you to care where I stay?” The fat lady rolled her eyes and said arrogantly, “I just love staying here, watching all you poor ghosts come and go—it’s much more entertaining than watching a performance in an opera house.”
If it weren’t for fear of causing a bad impression, Shang Jin really wanted to punch this woman in the face. She clenched her fists, extremely angry, and said, “Can you stop calling us ‘poor ghosts’? We are not poor ghosts! And even if we were, it’s not your place to insult us like this!”
“You’re from Country C, aren’t you?” the fat lady mocked. “The quality of people from Country C is really low. I didn’t believe it before, but after meeting you, I’m certain that all people from Country C are unreasonable.”
Shang Jin could not accept others insulting her, let alone allow someone to insult her country. Upon hearing the fat lady say that all people from Country C were arrogant and rude, Shang Jin could no longer hold back her rage. She swung her fist, ready to hit the fat lady.
The fat lady sensed her intention and hurriedly shouted, “Help, help! A rude person from Country C is going to hit me!”
However, Shang Jin’s fist did not land on the fat lady’s face, because her arm was grabbed by another hand.
“Tan Rou, why are you stopping me? I must teach her a lesson today!” Shang Jin blurted out in her hometown dialect, too agitated to help it.

Tan Rou shook her head slightly and said, “This is an airport, not your home. You can’t hit people in a public place. Besides, we still have other things to do; we can’t waste too much time here.”
What a hassle, she had wanted to help Agila, but before they could sort out Agila’s issue, they had gotten themselves into new trouble.
Lang Yue had gone to change the flight schedule. She hoped that he could choose a much later time; otherwise, they really might not manage to resolve everything before the plane took off.
The fat lady covered her face, still screaming, “Help, someone is going to hit me!”
“Are you blind?” Tan Rou couldn’t help but rebuke, “When did we ever hit you? You’re not tall, but you sure have a loud voice. Can you do anything other than shout? Besides calling others ‘poor ghosts’ and causing a scene in public, what else can you do? What kind of lousy VIP member are you? So, getting a membership makes you a deity?”
A series of questions left the fat lady dumbfounded. She pointed at Tan Rou with her finger, “You, you, you…”
“Are you a fucking idiot?” Tan Rou cursed, “We’ve already said we would pay you, can’t you just calculate how much we owe you? If your math is that bad, I can hire a teacher to educate you—maybe for a few more years, so you won’t embarrass yourself with your poor counting skills in the future!”
“I… I…” The fat lady seemed to suddenly lose the ability to speak and couldn’t complete a single sentence.
Instead, Tan Rou was the one who kept talking. Her pronunciation was impeccable, and she spoke very fast. Before everyone could even grasp what she had just said, she had already moved on to the next sentence.
Shang Jin was stupefied. She knew their leader was an excellent debater on the debate team but had no idea Tan Rou could talk so much in another language without repeating herself and without using many swear words when cursing someone.
She silently turned on the recorder, planning to record Tan Rou’s words and then listen to them over and over, hoping to train herself to be just as articulate.
“I’ll tell you this—you either take the money and let us go, or we will continue to argue here. We poor ghosts have all the time in the world. It’s just a matter of whether your precious time is worth wasting here or not,” Tan Rou said.
The fat lady listened and suddenly started to wail, “Someone is bullying me, I want my mommy!”
Tan Rou shouted at her impatiently, “Shut up, or I’ll sew your mouth shut if you keep this up!”
Chapter 1370: Take him along in 1369.
The plump lady was frightened by her, really dared not cry anymore, only murmured, “You’re bullying me, I’m going to tell my mom.”
Shang Jin mocked, “You’re so old, why do you always go to your mom when something happens? This kid didn’t even look for his mom, did he?”
Tan Rou’s eyes turned icy as she asked, “Have you figured out the amount? If you have, send me the payment code quickly, and I’ll transfer the money to you directly.”
“What payment code?” the plump lady asked confusedly, “Are you compensating me?”
Tan Rou almost forgot, not all countries use payment codes; some are accustomed to cash, others to bank cards, and domestically, QR codes are still more prevalent.
“Cash,” Tan Rou said. “Figure out how much you want, and I’ll immediately exchange it into your country’s currency for you.”
The plump lady said rudely, “This piece of bread costs one hundred dollars, hurry up and give it to me!”
Shang Jin was shocked by her words. “A hundred dollars? You might as well rob a bank, it’s faster that way!”
The plump lady still insisted, “That’s the amount, you have to give it whether you want to or not.”

Shang Jin didn’t want to give her that much money because she felt the red bread wasn’t worth that much.
But Tan Rou agreed to give her one hundred dollars. Tan Rou smiled and said, “I thought it was a lot of money, but it’s only a hundred dollars. I usually spend more than that on a bottle of water. However, I didn’t bring any dollars with me, and this airport should have a currency exchange. I’ll go and get a hundred for you right away.”
The plump lady didn’t believe Tan Rou had money, as Tan Rou looked thin and frail and wore very ordinary clothes, didn’t wear expensive jewelry, and only had a broken necklace. She certainly couldn’t be wealthy.
Tan Rou wore only one necklace, which Zhuang Liu had given her. He had made it by hand, not from an expensive luxury brand, and it was quite crudely made, but it meant a lot, so Tan Rou had never taken it off.
In fact, Tan Rou didn’t show off her wealth because she had put away her luxurious items; after all, she was traveling far and to a country with not very good public safety, so it was better to keep a low profile.
“You’re not planning to run away, are you?” the plump lady speculated. “Could it be that you can’t afford a hundred dollars and you want to run away while exchanging the money?”
“Ha!” Shang Jin said, “Who cares about that hundred dollars? If you think we will run away, we can leave someone here with you, how about that?”
The plump lady agreed to this, but she insisted that Tan Rou go to exchange the money while Shang Jin stayed with her.
Tan Rou could almost understand why the plump lady arranged it this way because she had been fierce to her earlier. The plump lady was definitely afraid, so she didn’t dare let her stay.
“Hmm.” Tan Rou told Shang Jin, “I’ll go exchange the money and also look for the airport manager. This airport is privately owned, and things would be a lot easier if I could contact the manager.”
Shang Jin nodded and said, “Okay, go exchange the money. I’ll contact Lang Yue to see where he’s gone, and ask him to process the transfer procedures. Why hasn’t he come back yet?”
Tan Rou glanced at Agila and said, “Keep an eye on this little boy, don’t let him get lost.”
Shang Jin felt Tan Rou was a bit too compassionate, “Tan Rou, all the trouble today was caused by him, and you still want to keep him?”
“Yes.” Tan Rou’s tone was very firm, “He reminds me of my little brother when I was young.”
The first time she met Tao Qi, he was only ten years old, about the same age as Agila. So Tan Rou couldn’t bear to see such a young child wandering around the airport. An orphanage or a juvenile detention center would be better, where there’s food, drink, and schooling, and no need to steal.
“Alright, since you insist on bringing him along, I’ll keep an eye on him,” Shang Jin said. “Don’t worry, I won’t let anyone bully him.”
After Tan Rou left, Agila kept looking toward where Tan Rou had gone, his look filled with reluctance.
Shang Jin saw his expression and thus said to the translator, “Stop looking, she’s gone to exchange money to pay the compensation to you.”
The translator relayed her words to Agila, who nodded and said, “Thank you.”
