Chapter 1061

Since he often received urgent calls like these, Genevieve didn't think much about it.

While packing her stuff up after work, Genevieve felt a slight discomfort in her throat. As she didn't have any plans for the rest of the evening, she decided to drop by the hospital to have her throat examined. The doctor found nothing serious about her condition. He simply prescribed her some oral medication.

The outpatient department was closed after six in the evening, so Genevieve had to collect her medication from the pharmacy at the emergency department instead. Right when she was about to leave, she caught a glimpse of Armand walking past the corridor on her left.

Genevieve then saw him enter a pediatric emergency department and followed him out of curiosity.

Standing at the door that was left ajar, Genevieve saw that the place was huge and divided into two main areas.

One of the areas was for outpatient consultation, and the other was for injections. Armand handed the doctor a tiny bottle of medicine and carried a little girl onto his lap.

The girl had her hair tied into two pigtails with red ribbons.

Genevieve, standing at the door, could only get a side view of the girl's face. Even so, it was enough for her to know the girl was very pretty.

Judging by the bandage wrapped around her head, Genevieve figured she was injured.

Upon noticing the nurse prepare the syringe, Amanda buried her face in Armand's chest and pleaded, "Daddy, can I not get an injection?"

"But you'll get sick if you don't get the injection. You know how much it hurts me to see you sick. I'll make you some doughnuts at home once this injection is over, okay?" Armand coaxed her gently. "Okay..." Amanda decided to put up with the injection for the sake of the doughnuts.

Armand then rolled the sleeve of Amanda's school uniform up so the nurse could administer the injection. He even covered her eyes and chatted with her to keep her distracted throughout the process.

Genevieve was shocked when she saw all of that from the door.

As there weren't a lot of people around at the time, she could clearly hear Amanda calling Armand "Daddy."

What? He has a daughter?

After the injection was over, Armand thanked the nurse and carried Amanda out of there.

Genevieve followed them all the way to the entrance of the emergency department, only to see them get into a Rolls-Royce Phantom.

The door was opened from the inside by a young boy about five or six years old. On top of having a handsome face, the boy had eyes that looked very much like Armand's.

Genevieve was so shocked that she just stood there and watched as the car disappeared from sight.

Armand has more than one child...

It was already eleven at night by the time Genevieve returned to Regality Gardens. She was snapped out of her dazed state when Armand gave her a call.

Upon answering the phone, she heard Armand saying in a deep voice, "Darling, I won't be coming home tonight, so you can take a shower and go straight to bed. Don't stay up late watching TV, okay?" "Okay." Genevieve's gaze fell upon the plate of fruits on the table.

She had wanted to ask Armand about the kids, but the words were stuck in her throat somehow. Oblivious to her unusually cold tone, Armand hung up after saying good night.

Angered by his act of hanging up on her, Genevieve yelled, "What a sc*mbag!"

She had thought that the girl was the daughter of a friend, but seeing the boy who looked similar to him proved that theory wrong.

Genevieve's bad mood then carried over to the next morning.

Armand would usually wake up really early to make her whatever she wanted for breakfast, but that didn't happen as he never came home last night.

Chapter 1063

I can't say that Armand is tricking me into getting married since we're just dating, nor can I accuse him of defrauding me as he seems to have quite a lot of money, and he has always been the one giving me money to spend. He did, however, deceive both my person and my feelings.

Genevieve didn't respond to Charlotte's text, but that did not stop the latter from texting her again: Don't blame me for being curious. I just want to know, is Mr. Faulkner a vigorous man? How many rounds a night?

Genevieve replied: Is it appropriate for you to bring up this subject?

Charlotte: I heard that as guys age, they'll grow tired more quickly. Even though my boyfriend occasionally tires me out, it only happens occasionally. Before I get tired of him, he'll be in his thirties, and suddenly he can't...

Charlotte: I just want to find out from you. If this happens to every man, then I should never find a boyfriend over the age of thirty.

Genevieve was rendered speechless. She sent a few perfunctory replies and ended the conversation.

After getting home that night, she stared at her phone in bed for a long time and waited until the early morning. However, Armand did not contact or text her at all.

I'm no longer on his mind after he went to his children's place.

As dawn broke, Genevieve switched off the alarm clock and went to the bathroom to wash up with a yawn. After applying makeup and changing her clothes, she went to a diner near Regality Gardens to get breakfast.

She sat at the table outside the store and waited for more than ten minutes. It was then a black Honda slowly stopped by the side of the road.

Genevieve glanced at the license plate and knew it was a government car. She wiped her hands with a tissue and jogged to the side of the road with her travel bag just as the car door was opened from the inside.

Sean looked extremely attractive in gray sportswear. It highlighted his broad shoulders and long legs.

The Department of Public Information had granted their employees leave in two batches to prevent having no one to cover for them while they were all away.

It just so happened that he and Genevieve were in the same batch.

Since their colleagues had taken up the six seats in the back of the car, Sean helped her with her bag and let her sit beside him.

A colleague sitting behind glanced at Genevieve and joked, "What a coincidence! Sean and Ms. Rachford are both wearing gray sportswear today. They look like matching outfits."

Genevieve cast a glance at Sean and smiled nonchalantly. "I simply pick a set of sportswear since we're going hiking today."

Everyone in the department knew she had a boyfriend before she took over Cali's role, and not long after she was assigned upstairs, they noticed an extra ring on her finger.

They were merely teasing her for wearing a similar outfit to Sean.

As the car headed toward Dopdur Church, everyone conversed and munched on snacks to pass time.

Genevieve, on the other hand, felt very sleepy, probably because she had not slept well the previous night and had gotten up early. She put on an eye mask and leaned against the seat to take a nap after getting in the car.

After an indeterminate time, she felt someone calling her.

Genevieve took off her mask groggily and discovered that she appeared to have slept on Sean's shoulder the entire time. She quickly sat up straight and ruffled her hair.

"Sorry about that. I woke up too early and was too sleepy. Just push me back the next time I fall asleep on you."

"It's fine. It's my honor to lend my shoulder to you, Ms. Rachford," Sean said with a chuckle. Then the two got out of the car one after another.

Dopdur Church was a historic place of worship in Jadeborough. Large ginkgo trees were planted inside, and when they turned yellow in autumn, they made a stunning scene. The location was also said to be extremely auspicious. Wishes made there, be it for marriage or fortune, would come true, which drew a constant stream of tourists.

Surrounding the church was a tourist site, and it would take at least two hours to get to the top of the mountain where the church was from the entrance of the tourist site.

As she wanted to lose weight and was also feeling moody, Genevieve had no qualms about climbing a mountain at all.

Chapter 1064

As everyone made their way up slowly, Genevieve noticed that Sean had a camera hanging around his neck. He would occasionally turn it on to take pictures of the surrounding scenery.

Unable to contain her curiosity, she asked, "Are you simply taking pictures of the scenery, or..."

"Taking pictures of the scenery," Sean answered. "Then I'll choose a few good photos and publish a city news article later."

Genevieve burst out laughing. "You're such a workaholic!"

"It's my love of photography coupled with occupational habit. That's all." Sean laughed as well and put away his camera before walking up slowly next to Genevieve.

Due to their similar ages and shared interests, they soon struck up a conversation.

Genevieve pulled a bottle of mineral water from her bag, opened the cap, and drank a few sips. Suddenly, she turned to Sean and said, "I recognize your voice. You helped me at the bar that night." When he helped her to repair her car, she had already thought that his voice sounded familiar, but she was unable to recall it until just then.

Sean froze momentarily before realization dawned on him. "Was that you? I didn't notice."

After a short pause, he explained to Genevieve, "I think you wore a slip dress that night and looked very pretty. But at work, you always wear a shirt and a long skirt and your hair in a bun, so..." Genevieve merely smiled in response. She did not probe whether he truly did not notice or deliberately said so.

After all, the combination of certain events would not constitute a coincidence.

Hearing the sound of a notification bell from her earphone, Genevieve took out her phone and saw Armand's message. He asked if she had arrived at Dopdur Church and whether she had put on sunscreen. This man didn't care much about me yesterday. He didn't even say good night to me. But now he's showing me concern again.

Genevieve was a little angry. She was going to ignore it, but her eyes flashed when she noticed the young man standing next to her.

"This scenery is quite nice, Sean. Let's take a few pictures." As she spoke, she turned on her front camera and turned around with her back facing him. "Sure." Because of his height, Sean had to bend down to get into the frame.

Genevieve took a few steps back to get closer to him. She found a suitable angle, then snapped a few photos before sending them all to a certain man. After she sent the message, she was in a great mood. She pulled out a can of coffee from her bag and threw it to Sean. "It's my treat."

Sean caught the coffee and happened to glance at the ring on her finger when he lowered his head. "Did Mr. Faulkner give you this ring?" he asked nosily. Genevieve hummed in response.

Sean opened the can of coffee and said with a smile, "I guess you must've quarreled with Mr. Faulkner. That's why you called me to take a photo with you."

"We didn't quarrel," she responded. "But some things he did made me furious, so I wanted to make him angry too."

"You're pushing me into a pit of fire, Ms. Rachford. What if Mr. Faulkner gets angry and fires me?" Sean joked.

"Don't worry. If he does fire you, I'll arrange for you to work in Specter Corporation," Genevieve replied. "The benefits there are no less than the government, and I'll let you work there until you retire." "Well, then. I'll play along with whatever you want to do later, Ms. Rachford."

Genevieve flashed a faint smile. "Great."

They continued talking and taking pictures of the scenery as they walked up. Although they were far behind the other colleagues, they had good stamina, so it did not take long for them to catch up with the rest of their group.

After they arrived at Dopdur Church, the sound of prayers and the subtle scent of candles gradually dispelled the restlessness in Genevieve's mind.

She walked away from her colleagues and Sean and wandered around slowly in Dopdur Church. Despite being a non-believer, she would still bow her head and say a short prayer.

As she turned around to leave after praying, she bumped into a benevolent-looking old friar clad in a robe.

The old friar gave her a slight bow before stepping aside as a gesture for her to go first. However, when Genevieve was about to go down the stairs, he suddenly stopped her.

Chapter 1065

"Miss," the old friar called out.

Genevieve turned around to face the benevolent-looking old friar. "I didn't bring any cash, and I couldn't find a place to withdraw some when I looked around," she said hesitantly.

She wanted to give some donation money, but she had to swipe Armand's card or scan a code for payment as there was no cash in her wallet.

The old friar smiled gently as his gaze fell on her wrist. "I recognize this string of rosary beads."

It was a gift from Armand to cover the scar on Genevieve's wrist. Since he did not allow her to take it off, she even wore it in the shower.

He had told her that he made the bracelet of rosary beads himself.

However, after hearing what the old friar said, Genevieve felt that Armand was somewhat dishonest. "My boyfriend gave me this string of rosary beads. Did he buy it at your church?"

"No," the old friar answered with a shake of his head. "Some time ago, a man came here to pray. He knelt in front of the church altar for a long time, holding a string of rosary beads in his hand and murmuring a prayer as he carved some symbols onto the beads. He was already kneeling there when I came to get something in the morning, but when I came back as it was getting dark in the evening, he was still there. He didn't move from that spot for several hours. I noticed that his fingers were covered in blisters from carving the symbols. He said that he had never believed in religion since childhood, but he hoped that his lover would have a lifetime of peace." The old friar's gaze fell on her wrist again. "I blessed this string of beads for him, and it's also unique, so I have a deep impression of it."

Genevieve had assumed that the old friar wanted donation money from her or that Armand had bought the rosary beads from him.

She had never thought that Armand would spend the entire day that day kneeling before the church altar and carving religious symbols onto the rosary beads while praying that she would be safe and worry- free.

For some reason, she was overwhelmed with emotion, and she began tearing up.

She grew up in a wealthy family with her parents who loved her and Cooper doting on her. Never had she suffered, nor had she ever imagined meeting a man who would love her so much when she grew up. The old friar said to Genevieve, "Even if there may be misunderstandings between you, you two truly love one another. You're an essential part of each other's lives no matter what occurs or how time passes." Genevieve brushed away the tears that were flowing uncontrollably with her fingers, and she could not help but remark, "I didn't expect you to say such a thing."

To her, the old friar was like an otherworldly, immaculate being.

"I'm also human and understand feelings." The old friar smiled gently. "You two are the rare kind who love each other so deeply. It was also the first time I'd met a non-believer who could kneel in front of the church altar for so long."

The old friar still had something to do, so he left after a short chat with her.

Genevieve looked down at the rosary beads on her wrist. She could picture Armand kneeling before the church altar and praying sincerely with blistered fingers as he carved symbols onto the beads.

It wasn't long from the time we met until we got together. But why can he love me so deeply?

She went back into the church, straightened her back, and bowed her head, praying sincerely with her hands clasped in front of her chest.

After she left the church, she asked a passing young friar for directions and followed him to a side chapel, which was the place to donate money or large amounts of candles to Dopdur Church.

When the friar in charge of the records heard that she wanted to donate five point two million, he was momentarily stunned. "Miss, are you sure it's five point two million?" Genevieve hummed in response.

The names of those who donated more than ten thousand to the church would be engraved on a plaque, so Genevieve told the friar her name as well as Armand's.

While she was busy with that, several of her colleagues had finished visiting Dopdur Church. They sent a group message on WhatsApp, stating where to gather and take a group photo before heading down the mountain.

Since going down the mountain was usually faster than heading up, the group reached the foot of the mountain after three in the afternoon.

Later on, Genevieve's colleagues discussed who was the better cook and who would cook later, and she honestly wanted to complain.

The government had subsidized a lot for their team-building event. Apart from the cab fare and subsidies, they had more than two thousand for meal expenses, so they could have a lavish dinner. However, several of her colleagues agreed that they should cook for themselves since they were on vacation. They suggested going to a farmhouse and splitting the rest of the money evenly between them.

Anyway, I don't know how to cook and don't even think about making me help out and cut vegetables. Whoever wants my share of several hundred can take it.

Chapter 1066

Genevieve glanced at her phone.

It had been hours since she had sent the picture of her and Sean, yet Armand had not replied.

Even so, she was not mad at him anymore. In fact, she missed him.

Genevieve sent a text before putting on the eye mask. The farmhouse was not far away, but she was tired from walking around the mountain for almost the whole day.

Half an hour later, they finally arrived at the farmhouse.

The farmhouse was near the Dopdur Church tourist site and was the best-known farmhouse in the vicinity. It had a large land with apple trees and pear trees planted in the courtyard.

The weather there was humid. Not only that, it was the perfect season to enjoy pears. All the tourists were allowed to pick fruits from the trees and enjoy them on the spot. Along the way, Sean picked two pears from the trees and washed them before giving Genevieve one. She thanked him and took a bite out of it. It was rather sweet. "Mr. Faulkner, what are you doing here?"

Genevieve looked up when she heard her colleague's voice, and she spotted Armand standing in front of some of her colleagues.

He was wearing a casual gray shirt underneath his suit, yet he emanated a dignified aura.

Armand smiled politely. "I was dealing with some matters not far from here, so I decided to join you guys when I heard you're having dinner at this farmhouse." As he said that, he looked past the colleagues and fixed his gaze on Genevieve.

Genevieve found his gaze oddly cold. After swallowing the fruit with much difficulty, she took a few steps forward to place some distance between her and Sean.

The owner of the farmhouse brought them to the stove under the pergola, informed them where they could find the cooking ingredients, and left.

The editor-in-chief, Macy Green, began assigning tasks to everyone. Genevieve was assigned to gather the vegetables.

After asking what vegetables everyone preferred, Genevieve got ready to leave when Macy piped up, "Hey, Sean. Tag along with Ms. Rachford and get a bottle of cooking oil if there's one. I bet she can't carry it."

Before Genevieve could even refuse, another colleague who had not left said, "Didn't you assign Sean to get a few bottles of mineral water just now?"

Right then, Armand offered, "I'll go with Ms. Rachford."

Of course, Macy did not dare to make their boss work, but Armand had already left with Genevieve before she could say anything.

The colleague who had spoken earlier scooted over to Macy and whispered, "Ms. Green, don't you think Mr. Faulkner and Ms. Rachford look like a married couple?"

Unfortunately, Macy was oblivious to that. "Doesn't Ms. Rachford have a boyfriend?"

"But no one knows who the boyfriend is. None of us met him before." The colleague shrugged. Suddenly, a ridiculous thought came to her mind. "Say, do you think her boyfriend... is Mr. Faulkner?" Macy was taken aback. "No way. Ms. Rachford looked a bit reluctant when Mr. Faulkner offered to go with her."

After contemplating for a while, the colleague realized Macy's words made sense.

We can't hide the look in our eyes when we like someone. There's no way outsiders can't tell if they're really dating each other.

Genevieve heaved a sigh of relief after they were a distance away from the main area. She asked, "I bet you came here because you had nothing to do. Why didn't you reply to my text, anyway?"

"What do you want me to say when you sent me pictures like that? Am I supposed to praise you for taking an excellent picture?"

Suddenly realizing something, Genevieve turned around and continued walking backward while facing Armand, her eyes twinkling as she asked, "Oh... So you came here looking for me because you're mad, right?"

Armand mumbled, "Shouldn't I be mad?"

Genevieve's lips curled into a smirk. She then pretended to trip on something, causing Armand to rush forward and pull her into his embrace.

Genevieve hurriedly seized the opportunity to hug him. His wide chest and pleasant scent made her want to kiss him badly.

Nonetheless, she suppressed her urge and pulled away from him, placing some distance between them. "Just stay like this. We'll talk more when we return to our accommodation after the meal."

She feared the keen-eyed colleagues would realize something if Armand treated her a little better.

Chapter 1067

Upon entering the storage room for vegetables, Genevieve picked up a basket and unlocked her phone to check her notes on the vegetables her colleagues wanted to eat. Although she did not know how to cook, she recognized a fair amount of vegetables.

Just as she was picking some vegetables, Armand walked over and glanced at her phone. Following that, he took out some from her basket and returned them to the shelf. Genevieve glanced sideways at him, clearly looking displeased. "I had a hard time finding them. Why are you putting them back?"

"You're looking for potatoes, aren't you? Why did you get sweet potatoes instead?" asked Armand, exasperated.

Genevieve did not think she had made a mistake. "The ones I took were potatoes. I even looked up pictures of potatoes on the internet. That's how they look like." "They were all round, weren't they?" asked Armand.

Genevieve was the type who could somehow whip up something using anything the housekeeper stored in the refrigerator.

However, she would be at a total loss if she were to buy the vegetables herself.

Armand could not help but feel thankful that Genevieve had not simply seasoned the dishes in the past, or he could have had health problems by then.

Genevieve was about to say yes when she saw the twinkle in Armand's eyes. Realizing something, she pouted. "Are you teasing me?"

"No. I just think you're not suited to do this kind of work. Here, let me do it," Armand offered.

Since he offered his help, Genevieve did not refuse. Instead, she helped to name the vegetables according to the list while he found the right ones speedily.

Suddenly, Genevieve felt a pang of jealousy at the thought of Armand preparing food for her colleagues with his fantastic cooking skills.

As they were walking back with the vegetables, Genevieve could not help but stop in front of Armand. "You once told me you'd be my personal chef, and you'll only cook for me."

Armand raised his brow at her words. "I did?"

Hearing that, Genevieve cursed him in her heart and stomped off with the bottle of oil, ignoring him for the rest of the journey.

When they returned to the main area, the others, too, had returned with firewood, mineral water, and other materials. The mineral water was for cooking and drinking, and there was a specific station for washing the vegetables.

Genevieve was assigned to wash the vegetables.

Fortunately, it was just washing the vegetables, unlike another colleague who had to dirty her hands while cleaning the meat. The latter task was something Genevieve could not bear with.

Armand said apologetically to Macy, "I'm sorry I can't be of much help since I don't know how to cook. I can be in charge of the fire, though."

Macy said hurriedly, "Don't worry about it. We have three people here who can cook."

Soon, everyone was assigned a task. They worked and chatted away happily. The atmosphere was pleasant, especially when Armand did not put on an arrogant front when he was their boss. Having nothing to do after washing the vegetables, Genevieve instinctively strolled over to Armand.

As if afraid the others might notice something, she asked casually, "Why are we using something like this to cook? Isn't it more efficient to use a gas stove?"

Macy replied, "You're obviously someone born with a silver spoon. Earthen stoves make the best food."

Another colleague standing in front of the earthen stove chuckled. "Ms. Rachford's family is rich. I heard that Specter Corporation belongs to her family, and Mr. Sutton is her brother. Do you know that massive shopping mall in Jadeborough? If I'm not wrong, Specter Corporation owns it, too."

Hearing that, Genevieve said generously, "My parents and my brother are talented at making money, so I don't have to worry about anything. In fact, I can just laze around and do nothing. If you guys frequent that mall, I can get a few membership cards made for you. Their VIP card can give you a ninety-three percent discount at all the stores there."

"Sure. We'll gratefully accept it." Her colleagues would not miss the opportunity of receiving such a great offer.

Armand smiled to himself, thinking that she was smart to change the topic easily with a few simple sentences.

Chapter 1068

Using a pair of tongs, Armand took out a sweet potato from the stove and placed it on a stainless steel plate.

When Genevieve caught the aroma, she squatted beside Armand and said softly, "Sweet potatoes can be roasted, too? Oh my goodness, it smells so good."

"Are you sure it's a sweet potato? It's a potato," said Armand nonchalantly.

After making sure the colleagues were not looking, Genevieve landed a punch on his shoulder while huffing, "I can recognize the smell of potatoes and sweet potatoes."

What a jerk. He's still teasing me for mistaking sweet potatoes for regular potatoes.

When the sweet potato had cooled down, Armand carefully removed the skin, which came off easily. Immediately, its dark orange and juicy flesh came into view, and its aroma filled the air.

After wrapping it with a piece of tissue paper, he handed it to Genevieve, who hurriedly took a bite and exhaled the hot air.

The sweet potato melted in her mouth as the faint sweetness lingered.

Thankfully, none of her colleagues noticed she was eating, for they were too busy preparing the food. Moreover, the smell of the sweet potato was covered by the aroma of the food around the stove. Peering at her colleagues, Genevieve inched over to Armand and whispered, "It's delicious."

Suddenly, Armand leaned over and licked the leftover sweet potato from the corner of her lips. "Indeed."

Genevieve had never expected him to do such a thing in public that she almost fell in shock. Thankfully, no one noticed it, and she scooted away from him.

After they worked hard for over two hours, the sun had set, and a scrumptious dinner was finally prepared.

Everyone gathered around the table and drank to their hearts' content.

Although Armand was dropped off by his driver, he did not drink. According to him, he wanted to keep at least one person sober, which was him, so that he could send them back to their accommodation later. While they were eating and chatting, a colleague, noticing the ring on Genevieve's finger, asked, "Ms. Rachford, are you engaged?"

Glancing at her ring, Genevieve answered with a smile, "Not yet, but he insisted I wear one in case I ran away."

Macy joked, "I bet. You're so pretty, after all. I'd be worried too if I were your boyfriend. What does your boyfriend work as, anyway?"

"Is he an executive at your family's company?" asked another colleague.

Sean, who was sitting opposite Genevieve, merely glanced at her and continued eating his vegetables.

He was not a tattletale, so he told no one about Genevieve's relationship with Armand despite knowing the truth.

Genevieve's colleagues believed that no one other than someone as rich as Cooper was more suitable for her. After all, she was pretty and came from an extremely rich family.

Worried her colleagues might find out if she said anything, Genevieve merely hummed in response, silently agreeing to their deductions.

A colleague sighed in awe. "He must be really young and handsome, then. I doubt a woman as pretty as Ms. Rachford would fall for an old dude."

Someone in the crowd grew expressionless.

The more they talked about it, the more heated the discussion was. One of the colleagues even dragged Armand into the conversation, asking, "Mr. Faulkner, there are rumors of you dating Ms. Gaudette. Is that true?"

Genevieve was on the verge of strangling the colleague who asked that question. Her anger spiked even more when she glanced at Armand.

Just say you're not dating each other. Do you really need to think of an answer?

Genevieve flashed Armand a smile before piping up, "Mr. Faulkner, she's asking you a question. Why would there be rumors of you guys dating if there was nothing going on between you two?"

There was a momentary silence before Armand smiled and uttered slowly, "Ms. Gaudette is quite beautiful."

Chapter 1069

Armand did not give a direct answer, but it gave everyone the idea that he was interested in Eurydice.

Looks like the rumors aren't fake. There's indeed something going on between them.

Genevieve's face fell. She bit her lip and glared at Armand across the wooden table before lowering her head to eat her food, poking at them furiously to vent her anger.

The meal lasted until nine at night, and Armand sent everyone back to their accommodation.

The accommodation for the team building this time was booked after Genevieve had asked everyone for their opinion. It was a mansion in the natural hot spring area. The scenery was gorgeous.

After arriving at the mansion, Macy assigned everyone to their rooms before grabbing her swimsuit and heading off to the hot spring with the others.

Genevieve, who was still sulking, told them she was unwell and stayed back.

When everyone was gone, Genevieve took out her makeup remover and began cleaning her face. Just then, the doorbell rang. Genevieve had no choice but to open the door with the makeup remover still plastered on her face. The moment she saw who the person was, she hurriedly closed the door.

Alas, Armand was faster, and he caught hold of the handle. However, he did not use much force for fear of making Genevieve fall.

Glaring at him through the gap, Genevieve sneered, "Mr. Faulkner, shouldn't you be calling Ms. Gaudette now to ask her how she is?"

"I'm not close to her. I don't even have her number." When Genevieve was distracted, Armand seized the opportunity and slipped past the door, shutting it immediately.

Genevieve fumed, "Oh, is that so? You two seem quite close, though! They asked if you were dating Eurydice, and you didn't deny it. You even complimented her for being pretty. Fine! She's the prettiest!" Noting her brows were knitted together in fury, Armand murmured, "What you're feeling now is exactly what I felt this morning when I saw your picture with that man. I just wanted to annoy you because you made a mistake."

"I didn't even do anything wrong. What gives you the right to annoy me by using another woman? Besides, I texted you after I'd calmed down, didn't I?"

"Well, I didn't see it. I rushed here to see you as soon as I saw the two pictures."

He had no clue what Genevieve was mad about. However, her anger dissipated as quickly as it came, so he figured it was probably nothing major. Hence, he did not dwell on it.

Armand led her into the bathroom and helped her wash off the makeup remover.

Her face was finally clean. Looking at her slender eyebrows and moist eyes that crinkled at the corners, Armand felt something burning in him.

Unable to control himself, he leaned down and kissed her.

Just as Genevieve realized she was being lifted onto the basin, she pushed him, hissing, "What on earth are you thinking? I share this room with another colleague. What if she suddenly comes back?" "Then so be it." Armand continued kissing her without a care in the world.

As Genevieve was indulging at the moment, she suddenly recalled her conversation with Charlotte and chuckled.

Puzzled, Armand gave her a final kiss before asking, "What are you laughing at?"

"It's nothing." Genevieve tilted her head and bit his neck gently. "Be quick. Let's go downstairs and talk after we take our shower. I don't feel safe in the room."

"Do you know you shouldn't tell a man to be quick?" Armand narrowed his eyes at her.

Genevieve arched a brow and countered, "Should I do it, then?"

Her words had succeeded in provoking Armand. In the end, he made love to her so intensely at the basin that she was out of breath and her eyes bloodshot at the end of it.
