Ch. 1341..1350
Chapter 1341 Not Hurt Each Other Anymore
Sally paused for a moment, then said with a clear and crisp voice, "I attended a military academy, so no one dared to pursue me. I have no idea what it feels like to receive love letters and roses."
As for why Armand was angry, she couldn't possibly know.
Genevieve said, "Even if Ethan wasn't by your side back then, with your skills, no one would dare to chase after you. For others, falling in love takes time, but for you, falling in love could cost a life."
Sally couldn't help but laugh.
The staff at the holiday resort brought the barbecue equipment, along with various types of meat and vegetables, to the courtyard where Armand and his friends were staying an hour early.
The courtyard has a natural hot spring, so it's not very cold.
Armand put on his apron, took out the meat from the box, and cut it into pieces before marinating it. Soon, he would skewer the pieces for grilling. Cooper, having nothing else to do, came over to help him.
The two men are busily working over here.
Over there, Amanda wanted to play 'tag'. Genevieve took on the role of the tagger and chased a few kids around, causing Amanda to burst into continuous giggles and shrieks of laughter.
Despite Asel's short legs, she quickly followed behind her sister, holding onto her clothes.
Armand placed a large piece of lamb on the cutting board, and with a few swift strokes, he sliced it into evenly thick pieces. Cooper watched in admiration and remarked, "No wonder you're a man who spends his time in the kitchen; your knife skills are truly impressive."
He had been learning from a renowned chef for quite some time, but all he could do was fry a beef patty and make a sandwich.
"Didn't you hear what others say? To capture a woman's heart, you must first capture her stomach." At a family gathering, Armand didn't hold back and spoke his mind.
Cooper laughed and said, "You really did it, and you've won over the stomachs of both kids too."
"What were you doing with Genev this afternoon?" Cooper asked while cleaning oysters, glancing at the busy Armand. "Did you have another disagreement?"
Armand said casually, "I've encountered her admirer."
After hearing Armand talk about the card room, Cooper raised his eyebrows and said, "Oh, you mean that one? I've seen that crystal ball rose before, and it's indeed quite beautiful."
When Genevieve initially threw the unopened item into the trash, the housekeeper, fearing that Genevieve might have accidentally discarded something important, retrieved it and handed it to her. Genevieve opened the box and took a glance inside, then asked the housekeeper to throw it away again.
"So, you're angry about this?" Cooper asked.
"No," Armand's eyebrows furrowed tightly, "She also thought that the gift her old classmate made by hand was very romantic, and she regretted not opening the box to take a look back then."
Cooper thought that Genevieve wouldn't say such things to Armand, but if it wasn't true, Armand wouldn't get jealous and angry.
"It's not me who's saying this," Cooper placed the washed oysters on the tray as he lectured, "You're a man close to forty years old, and you're getting jealous over your wife's past suitors while she was studying? What's that all about?"
"Where has your maturity and steadiness gone?"
Armand said expressionlessly, "Getting jealous is a natural instinct, regardless of age. And don't laugh at me. Weren't you angry when Sally initially treated you as a substitute for Ethan?"
Cooper looked at him, "How do you know? Did she tell you?"
"Have you never met Ethan, and you think I haven't either?" Armand said, "When you first made a deal with her, I had a rough idea."
Cooper let out a deep sigh, "Let's not hurt each other anymore, it's so pointless."
As the two were chatting, Sally walked over with a cup of watermelon juice in hand, just in time to hear Cooper's question, "How did you two hurt each other?"
"Not a big deal," Cooper said, "Let me have a sip of the watermelon juice, I'm a bit thirsty."
Sally held the cup to Cooper's lips, and he took a few sips of the iced watermelon juice through the straw. Noticing the sweat on his forehead, Sally casually wiped it for him.
For the first time, Armand felt that they were truly annoying.
Sally glanced at Genevieve, who was playing with the children nearby, and then said to the two of them, "Someone is looking for Silas in Kille."
Chapter 1342 Is It Difficult To Take Care
Upon hearing this, Armand paused his work and furrowed his brow, "Who?"
Silas had died long ago, and it was Sally's gun that had taken his life. However, Zephyr was afraid that if the Carlo family found out, chaos would ensue. In Lostaria, the news was tightly sealed.
In Chanaea, it was initially Armand who had sealed the news.
Aside from the deceased Zephyr, only a few of them present knew about Silas' early demise.
Sally crossed her arms, standing there with an icy demeanor. "I asked around and found out that Silas had previously sold a batch of weapons to a certain faction working with Kille. They used those weapons to fight another faction, which almost led to their complete annihilation. Their territory was swallowed up, and they probably hold a grudge against Silas because of this."
However, they knew of Silas's reputation and didn't dare to provoke him. Later on, the Lostaria Mafia was wiped out by the police, and those from the rival factions wanted to take this opportunity to seek revenge on Silas.
Armand felt somewhat relieved and said indifferently, "If they're just seeking revenge on Silas, there's no need for us to interfere."
Cooper was also a bit worried, "Could they trace it back to Genev?"
"No, not many people know about Silas and Mia's past." If it weren't for Zephyr using Mia as bait, Silas wouldn't have come to Chanaea in the first place.
After Zephyr's death, the list of core members and assets of the Carlo family were in Armand's hands.
As the child grew up, Armand was to hand over the property to her according to their agreement. He didn't turn over The Dark Crow's people to Frank, fearing that someone who knew about the original situation might reveal it.
All members of the Carlo family knew that betraying The Dark Crow meant certain death.
Upon hearing Armand say this, Cooper felt reassured.
After Sally left, Armand suddenly asked Cooper, "So, you spent the whole afternoon with Sally at the hot springs, just accompanying the kids?"
Cooper nodded and said, "Asel is too young, Sally is worried."
Asel didn't know how short she was until she stepped into the hot spring, and the water completely covered her head. Although she had a little duck float to keep her afloat and play on the water's surface, there were also staff members nearby keeping an eye on her.
Even though Sally was worried, she still decided to take a look herself.
Ever since that incident at North City Hospital, when Amanda was almost in trouble after being left alone, Sally has become more cautious, never letting her child out of her sight.
Armand smiled faintly and asked, "Is it difficult to take care of a one-year-old child?"
"It's quite nice, Asel is well-behaved." Cooper couldn't help but talk more as he thought about the fun experience of going to the hot springs. "You should have seen her, her little legs were like a fish's tail, moving so fast in the water."
"Practice more, learn how to change diapers and prepare formula milk," Armand said. "When you have your own child in the future, doing these tasks will be much easier."
Cooper couldn't help but smile, "Let's leave it to fate."
Ever since his visit to the hospital for a check-up, he has been taking his medication on time. However, he's been suffering from this illness for so long that even without the doctor telling him, he knows it's going to be difficult to recover.
Armand said, "The treatment will take some time before you see any results."
"Well, if we have one, we have one; if not, then we don't." Cooper didn't have a strong obsession with having a child. "Besides, it would save Sally from the pain of childbirth, which is quite nice."
After marinating the meat and skewering it, Armand lit the charcoal in the grill and placed the skewers on top to cook. In no time, the mouthwatering aroma of grilled meat filled the courtyard.
Several little ones were drawn over by the aroma of grilled meat.
Everyone gathered around the barbecue grill, enjoying the incredibly delicious skewers. Amanda also came up with some brain teasers for everyone to answer.
"Uncle Cooper, which do you think would hurt more if it hit your head - a watermelon or a durian?"
Cooper pondered for a moment, "Durian? Because its skin is spiky."
"The answer is wrong!" Amanda pointed to her head with her little finger and said, "Of course, the most painful part is the head!"
She asked Armand again, "Daddy, what kind of road can't we take?"
"Road to Heaven," said Armand.
"Oops, it's actually the circuit," Amanda said seriously, causing everyone to burst into laughter.

In the evening, the holiday resort would set off fireworks at scheduled times, and the children's amusement park was also great fun. After having a barbecue, Amanda couldn't wait to drag a few people out to play.
Armand had some matters to attend to, so he didn't go.
When Genevieve returned around nine o'clock, she was already completely exhausted.
After playing all day, the little ones were completely exhausted. They took a bath and went straight to bed. Cooper and Sally also returned to their bedroom on the other side of the courtyard to sleep.
Genevieve entered the bedroom and saw Armand standing by the table, putting something into a shopping bag.
"Mando, are you going out again?"
"No need to go out." Armand looked at her drooping shoulders from exhaustion and chuckled a bit. "I'll accompany you to the hot spring for a bath, so you can sleep better later."
Genevieve let out a hum, reaching out her hand toward the man. Armand bent down and picked her up.
It was almost ten o'clock, but the courtyard was still very warm, with warm yellow lights lining the path to the hot spring. As it was a private courtyard hot spring, the mist made the surroundings hazy and dreamy.
Genevieve boldly took off all her clothes and comfortably soaked in the water.
Armand brought a no-rinse hair spray with him. As Genevieve leaned in, he pressed some dry-cleaning foam onto her head and gently massaged it into her hair with his fingers.
Genevieve leaned against his chest, almost falling asleep from the incredible massage he was giving her. "Mando, are you still mad?"
"No."
"That night we went out to watch the fireworks, why didn't you come?" Genevieve turned in the man's arms and looked up at him, "You were just angry and avoiding me."
Armand wiped the foam from the corner of her eye and said helplessly, "Really, there isn't any."
"What were you busy with then?"
After asking, Genevieve explained to him again, "Although everyone is praising the love letters and gifts that Zander sent me, I haven't opened a single letter, and I've never liked him."
"I know," Armand chuckled, "I didn't accompany you to watch the fireworks because I was preparing a gift for you."
Genevieve's eyes lit up, "What gift?"
After wrapping her hair with a towel, Armand picked up the shopping bag by the hot spring and handed it to Genevieve.
Genevieve hurriedly took it and flipped open a velvet box from inside. In the box, there was a round crystal ball, and within the ball was a freshly bloomed green rose.
Genevieve couldn't help but exclaim, "Wow, this is just too beautiful!"
Her amazed expression made all the displeasure that had been building up in Armand's heart since the afternoon vanish. "It's just a rose quartz ball, I can make one too, and even more beautiful than his."
"I can write love letters with roses too." Armand took out a light green envelope from the shopping bag, "And I can write them better than him."
To Genevieve's surprise, the "something to do" that Armand mentioned was actually preparing a gift for her.
She opened the light green envelope and unfolded the paper inside. Just by looking at the beautiful calligraphy in each line, Genevieve felt a sense of delight and pleasure.
Genevieve praised, "Not only is Mando handsome, but he also has great handwriting!"
Armand's love letter was unlike those of a sixteen or seventeen-year-old boy, whose passion is often explicit. Instead, he wrote with restraint, hiding his deep emotions beneath the words. Yet, it was this subtlety that made the reader become immersed in the letter, unable to put it down.
Genevieve wrapped her arms around the man's neck and planted a kiss on the corner of his lips, "Mando, I really love your love letter!"
Armand asked, "So, you don't like me anymore?"
"Of course I like it," Genevieve said with a smile, her forehead touching his. "I've changed my lucky number now, it's fifty-seven. One love letter isn't enough."
"Mmm." Armand held her waist, pulling her close to his embrace, "Then I'll write you fifty seven love letters with roses."
Genevieve smiled faintly, then leaned in and kissed him deeply.
As the atmosphere grew more intense, Genevieve's face was flushed and covered in sweat. Her moist, affectionate eyes gazed at the man as she teased, "Sir, what are you doing? Why don't you find the hot spring water dirty now?"
Armand said in a hushed tone, "This is a private hot spring, there are too many people in the public one outside. All right, don't talk anymore."
Chapter 1344 The Heartbreaking Struggle
The next morning, Armand and his companions took the children to a strawberry farm near the hot spring village.
Rows of strawberry greenhouses are situated near the highway and close to the hot spring holiday resort. Coupled with the large, juicy, and sweet strawberries, and the fact that it's the weekend, there are quite a few tourists coming to pick strawberries.
A few little ones each carried a small red basket, happily hopping and skipping into the greenhouse.
Amanda picked a huge strawberry, wiped it on her clothes, and then took it to Genevieve and the others.
Picking one here and there, running back and forth, like a busy little bee.
Armand was originally a bit of a neat freak.
Genevieve tends to let the children be more carefree, allowing them to do whatever they want, which leaves him feeling quite exasperated.
"Mando, don't make that face," Genevieve couldn't stand seeing him so worried about the children's hygiene. "The boss already said the strawberries haven't been sprayed with any chemicals, so they're safe to eat even without washing."
She handed the freshly picked strawberries to the man, "Try these, they're incredibly sweet."
Armand, feeling helpless, lowered his head and ate the strawberry.
Genevieve licked the juice off her finger and looked up at him, asking, "How is it? Isn't it really sweet?"
"Mmm." However, he felt that the strawberry was not as sweet as the taste on Genevieve's lips. In a deep voice, he said, "There's a strawberry cocktail that's really delicious. I'll make it for you when we go back."
Caught off guard, Genevieve suddenly thought of that time with the cherry wine and playfully kicked him, exclaiming, "Old rascal!"
She also wanted to experience the joy of picking strawberries, so she found a greenhouse with fewer people. Whenever she saw a big, red strawberry, she would cut it off and place it in the small basket that Armand was carrying.
The two of them strolled through the sweet-scented strawberry fields, finding it quite delightful.
Armand asked Genevieve about Xenia.
Genevieve crouched down to look for strawberries while answering, "She wants to personally deal with Joshua's wife, but I haven't seen her make any moves lately. Maybe it takes time for Joshua's wife to have a mental breakdown."
"After all, she's the kind of person who felt no guilt after killing her own son," she added.
Armand pondered for a moment, "There's something that's not really related to Johanna, but I'm not sure if I should tell you."
"What's the matter?" Genevieve looked up at him.
Armand said, "Xenia is Yorick's sister, but she was expelled from the Joule family by her father years ago because of Joshua's incident. Since then, she has never been in touch with her brother Yorick."
Genevieve gasped, clearly shocked by the news, "Xenia is Johanna's... aunt?”
"Um."
That day, when Armand requested information about Joshua's case from the court, he also had someone look into Xenia's background. Later, he learned about Xenia's connection to the Joule family.
Genevieve said, "When Leila mentioned her name, I thought she had the same last name as Jojo."
However, I never expected this aspect.
Genevieve sneered, "She's been in Jadeborough all these years, so there's no way she doesn't know about Johanna's father going bankrupt from gambling. Even if she doesn't help her brother, she doesn't care about her brother's daughter at all, yet she worries every day for her lover who was wrongfully imprisoned."
Genevieve knew that people were inherently selfish, and after all, it was the Joule family who had driven Xenia away in the first place.
But if Xenia had lent a hand back then, Johanna wouldn't have been thrown abroad by her own mother for several years, with no home to return to during the holidays.
However, Xenia is indeed exceptionally talented, and she is considered one of the top masters in the traditional gown industry.
While Genevieve and Armand were chatting, they had already walked around the greenhouse, picking a basketful of strawberries. The little ones also had quite a fruitful harvest.
Around eleven o'clock, the group returned to the hot spring holiday resort.
As soon as the car arrived at the holiday resort, Armand's phone rang. He glanced at the caller ID and walked over to a corner by the flower bed to answer the call.
Chapter 1345 One Of Her Many
Genevieve asked Cooper to take the children to eat first.
She had just unscrewed the cap of the mineral water and taken two sips when Armand's call ended. Genevieve curiously asked, "Was that a call from your boss?"
"No," Armand replied, taking the water bottle. The two of them headed to the dining room together.
In the afternoon, as everyone packed up their belongings and ended their delightful weekend, they returned to Swallow Garden. Armand asked Genevieve, "Do you remember that time we met Scarlette at the restaurant?"
"Remember," Genevieve leaned against the kitchen counter, teasing with a smile, "your childhood friend!"
Armand said, "She studied performing arts at Bellridge University and wanted to enter the entertainment industry after returning to her country. However, the resources in Xedells' entertainment industry are too limited."
Genevieve understood, "So she wants to enter the mainland's entertainment industry?"
"Mhm." Armand looked down at Genevieve. "She called me this morning, hoping to join Genevieve Orsi Productions."
"Let's go," Genevieve answered crisply.
After waiting for a while and noticing that she didn't ask anything else, Armand raised his eyebrows and said, "Don't you have any questions for me?"
"Since you agreed to help her, you either owe her a favor or have some deal with her," Genevieve took a sip of her black tea and then looked at him. "Should I be suspicious that you two are having an affair?”
"Besides, Scarlette has a charming appearance that the audience really likes. If she can make money for me, why wouldn't I sign her?"
Armand kissed Genevieve's forehead, "My wife is getting smarter and smarter."
And they trust him so much.
"Wrong, it's the mayor's wife." Genevieve playfully poked the man's chest, correcting him. "As an official's wife, I must be patient and intelligent. Imagine if one day during a gathering of your big bosses, I don't bring you honor but instead embarrass you. That would be terrible, wouldn't it?"
Armand chuckled softly, then took her hand and gently kissed it. "Thank you, Madam Mayor, for taking the trouble to learn about human nature and worldly affairs for my sake."
"Sure, you're welcome," Genevieve said generously.
At 7:30 in the evening, Charlotte arrived punctually at the Imperial Club.
On such a cold day, she still exudes stunning beauty.
Wearing a sweater and a black vest, the vest's back seam cinches in, revealing a slender waist that can be grasped with one hand. Beneath the jeans, long legs are straight and shapely.
The once faded yellow hair was given a six-figure treatment at the beauty salon yesterday, dyed a mermaid red, with slightly curled ends lazily draped over her shoulders. The not-so-intense red hair made her face appear even more fair, and the slight upward tilt at the corners of her eyes added an indescribable charm.
Charlotte exudes a powerful presence, as if emanating an aura that says, "I'm expensive, don't come near me."
She used to visit the Imperial Club often, so she was quite familiar with it.
After entering the club, Charlotte waved her hand to let the waiter go about their business. She headed straight to the entertainment room on the second floor and politely knocked on the door before entering.
The door was quickly pulled open, revealing a slightly plump man standing inside. Upon seeing Charlotte, his eyes lit up.
"Who are you looking for?"
"Zander." Normally, Charlotte wouldn't bother talking to these people. She would just go straight in and find the person she was looking for. But today was different from usual.
And today, she came to get things done, not to mess things up.
Soon after, Charlotte followed the man into the entertainment room, where she saw a few men holding cue sticks and standing in front of a snooker table. One of them was Zander, dressed in casual attire, exuding an elegant and easygoing demeanor.
Charlotte thought about the private behavior of this man and then thought about Cooper. She couldn't help but wonder why there was such a huge contrast between the refined appearance and the actual character of these seemingly elegant people.
Jerry is really great, always consistent whether in public or private, and always ready to help when called upon.
Charlotte realized she had been lost in thought and quickly shook her head to clear her mind. She headed toward the snooker table, and as she approached, the people there recognized her.
"Isn't this Ms. Benson? What brings you here?"
The man who opened the door to let Charlotte in said, "She's looking for Zander."
"Zander, you're really something," someone laughed. "Not only did you run into your first love at the holiday resort yesterday, but today Ms. Benson even came looking for you. Is there something going on between you two?"
Zander glanced at Charlotte and candidly said, "I'm one of her many ex-boyfriends."
Chapter 1346 Never Going Back To The Past
There are many male players in the circle.
When it comes to female players, no one can surpass Charlotte. She possesses wealth, intelligence, and beauty, and is especially skilled at charming and flirting with others.
Even though she changed boyfriends like changing clothes, she was always wholeheartedly devoted to each one during their relationship, never playing with two at the same time. That's why none of her exes ever badmouthed her after breaking up, and many of them still couldn't forget her.
Others were taken aback, their expressions seemed to say, "I can't believe you two used to be in a relationship."
Indeed, Zander was her ex-boyfriend, and Charlotte had no reason to deny it. She placed her Birkin bag on the nearby sofa and tied up her red hair with a hairband.
As she lifted her hand, the loose sweater sleeve slid up, revealing a beautifully slender wrist.
Charlotte placed one hand on her hip, her gaze arrogantly sweeping over the people before settling on Zander. "Pick someone who can actually fight. If I win, we'll go to the private room next door and talk for ten minutes."
Zander had no choice but to call out his friends with the best soccer skills among the group.
Charlotte started mingling in social circles when she was just a teenager, and when it came to having fun, there were few who could outdo her. She was proficient in everything, be it card games, snooker, or drinking games.
In less than three minutes, she ended this snooker game with an absolutely victorious attitude.
That friend of mine had won the title of being among the top ten snooker players in the country. But today, he was unexpectedly defeated by a woman within just a few minutes, leaving him utterly devastated. His pride took quite a hit.
However, Charlotte didn't have time to care about his feelings. Holding her purse, she went to the private room next door with Zander.
After the waiter had prepared their coffee and left, Charlotte raised her coffee cup and clinked it with Zander's, "Congratulations, Mr. Foxx, on becoming the new General Manager of Ingenuity Entertainment."
Zander said, "You didn't bring me here alone just to have this cup of coffee with me, did you?"
"Is that not allowed?" Charlotte crossed her legs and leaned back on the sofa. She was so beautiful that even her casual gestures were pleasing to the eye. "Just catching up with my ex-boyfriend."
"If you're willing, I can become your current boyfriend."
Charlotte's expression changed instantly. If it weren't for the upcoming discussion, she would have shown a look of disgust. "No, you know my rules."
"Understood," Zander said with a refined and gentle smile, "I never go back to where I once was."
Late at night, Charlotte didn't want to sit there and engage in boring small talk with him. She got straight to the point and said, "I recently signed a contract with Genevieve Orsi Productions and became their company's manager."
Zander's eyes sparkled for a moment, "Since you're looking for a job, why not come to our company? Did Genevieve Orsi pull some strings for you?"
"I got in through my own abilities," Charlotte said, clearly annoyed.
Zander didn't ask any more questions and took a sip of his rich espresso. "So, as Genevieve Orsi's manager, what brings you to me?"
Charlotte said, "Isn't Yvonne's contract with your company about to expire?"
"What do you want, Yvonne?"
"I'm a manager, and I want all the beautiful artists," Charlotte said with a playful smile on her gorgeous red lips. "Besides, Yvonne is about to terminate her contract with Ingenuity Entertainment. Isn't it normal for me to try and sign her?"
Zander said, "If you want her, just wait until her contract expires."
Charlotte leaned in slightly and looked at Zander, "Yvonne doesn't want to renew her contract with Ingenuity Entertainment, and you guys are deliberately smearing her reputation with negative articles. Isn't that low enough? And now you won't even let her terminate the contract?"
"Mr. Foxx, everyone is in the same circle, and we're bound to cross paths. It's not good to go too far."
Zander looked at her and asked, "So tell me, which entertainment company has integrity? Ingenuity Entertainment has put so much effort into nurturing her, pouring their heart and soul into her development. Yet, when her contract expires, she just leaves. No boss could tolerate that."
Chapter 1347 She Is So Astute
Charlotte said, "Eighty percent of Ingenuity Entertainment's performance in the past two years was contributed by Yvonne."
"But all the company's best resources were invested in her alone."
"Zander, let's stop trash-talking," Charlotte leaned back and sneered coldly. "You think I can't find out? A shareholder from Ingenuity Entertainment took a liking to Yvonne, but she wasn't interested."
She also knew that she had offended the director, and there would be no opportunities for her to shine later on. That's why she didn't renew her contract with Ingenuity Entertainment.
Yvonne is the cash cow of Ingenuity Entertainment.
Effortlessly allowing her to terminate the contract and join another company was not something Ingenuity Entertainment was willing to do. That's why they later imposed sanctions on Yvonne.
Before Zander could speak, Charlotte said, "I figured your company was planning to take advantage of this time to have Yvonne shoot those sleazy ads, completely ruining her reputation, so that by the end of the year, she'd have nowhere to go even if she wanted to leave Ingenuity Entertainment."
However, Yvonne is not just a pretty face; she is incredibly talented in acting and also quite beautiful.
"You know, entertainment news changes every day. Today's big event will be overshadowed by another scandal tomorrow."
Zander's gaze shifted as he looked at Charlotte, "Are you still the Charlotte I know?"
He knew Charlotte as a stunning beauty, who could easily spend hundreds of thousands or even a million with just a wave of her hand. She was well-versed in all aspects of wining, dining, and having fun, completely immersed in the world of men and entertainment.
Nowadays, she is so astute.
Not only does he think of utilizing the connections at hand, but his speech is also smooth and much more ruthless.
Charlotte said, "Genuine quality."
"All right, let's get down to business. I didn't ask for Yvonne for nothing," Charlotte said. She took a sip of her espresso, found it too bitter, and frowned as she put the coffee cup back down.
Zander propped up his chin with one hand and asked, "Oh, what do you have to trade with me?"
"Brian, who previously asked Jerry and Bruce to film a spy movie, is going to shoot another film," said Charlotte. "I have a good relationship with the main investor of this movie."
"Which ex-boyfriend is it this time?"
Hearing his teasing, Charlotte rolled her eyes, "I can get him to add a significant supporting role into the play. You give me Yvonne, and I'll give this spot to an artist from your company."
“It's been so long since Yvonne's scandal broke out, and you've been keeping her on the sidelines. Yet, the company hasn't found anyone competent enough to take her place.”
"You know, all of Brian's films are high-quality. Jerry won the Golden Horse Award for Best Actor for his role in that spy thriller, and another actress in the movie won Best Supporting Actress."
Charlotte looked at the man and said, "We'll pay the penalty for Yvonne's breach of contract as long as it's reasonable. You won't lose out on this deal."
"What's your relationship with Genevieve?" Zander suddenly asked. As Charlotte was taken aback, he continued, "Did Genevieve open this back door for you?"
Zander said, "I heard some rich girls in the circle talking about you, saying you have no taste."
Charlotte instantly understood, guessing that someone must have recorded a video of them eating dessert at Ladym that day and shared it.
Zander is in the same circle as her, so it's not surprising that he saw the video.
Charlotte brushed the loose strands of hair behind her ear and said lazily, "Genevieve Orsi is part of Specter Corporation, so of course she's my boss."
"Did the boss give you all these jewelry and bags?"
"What's the big deal?" Charlotte said unabashedly. "Half of the male celebrities in the entertainment industry are my ex-boyfriends. By utilizing these connections, I can offer her much more than these mere jewels."
Zander chuckled and agreed, saying, "That's true."
She indeed had many ex-boyfriends.
Zander set down his coffee cup, his gentle eyes looking at Charlotte. "Although I am the General Manager of Ingenuity Entertainment, responsible for artist management, helping Yvonne terminate her contract is quite troublesome."
Charlotte swung her leg, the white tasseled boot shimmering under the light. "So, are you in for this deal or not?"
"All right, but I have an additional condition..."
Zander stood up and walked over to Charlotte. He crouched down in front of her, looking harmless and affectionate. "Play with me just once," he said.
Chapter 1348 Pushing Your Luck
Charlotte instantly understood what he meant, and the words "Are you sick?" almost burst out of her mouth.
Zander emphasized to her, "Don't worry. I just want to have some fun for half an hour, all right? I'll have someone bring the contract over, and Yvonne can be released from it tonight."
"Other than coming to me, you won't be able to get Yvonne's contract termination from any other Ingenuity Entertainment executives."
Although Charlotte said that entertainment news changes every day, the news that has happened cannot be erased. If the people at Ingenuity Entertainment tarnish Yvonne's reputation, it would take a lot of effort for them to build her back up.
Charlotte had been a receptionist before, so her pride had long since worn away. In order to achieve her goals, what did a little self-sacrifice matter!
In the end, she agreed, but emphasized, "If I say it's not okay, you can't use it."
"Great!" Zander's eyes sparkled with excitement.
Not long after, the waiter came in carrying a small wooden box. Zander opened the box and took out a bundle of hemp rope, using it to bind Charlotte's hands behind her back.
The hemp rope passed around Charlotte's neck and chest, the rough texture of the rope gently rubbing against her delicate skin, causing it to turn slightly red.
Zander pushed Charlotte into the leather sofa and had just put a blindfold on her when the door was suddenly flung open. The person who entered saw the intimate scene on the sofa, and their eyes instantly darkened, pupils turning crimson.
Jerry's fist clenched with a creaking sound, and he swiftly walked in, grabbed Zander, and landed a fierce punch on his face.
He wore a platinum ring on his ring finger, and his fist was incredibly heavy.
Zander, not being a martial artist, felt his mouth go numb from a single punch. It seemed as if half of his face had become completely numb.
Jerry landed another punch, his voice dark and menacing, "Are you f*cking asking for death?!"
Charlotte suddenly relaxed and, hearing a familiar voice, immediately sat up from the sofa. "Jerry? Did you hit him?"
Charlotte's hands were tied, so she could only press her forehead against her knees, trying hard to rub off whatever was on her eyes.
After removing her blindfold, she saw Jerry pinning Zander to the ground and carrying him away. Zander didn't even have the strength to fight back, his face and the corners of his mouth covered in blood.
Seeing Zander in that 'either dead or injured' state, Charlotte's heart chilled halfway.
She was terrified that Yvonne's contract termination would be messed up. She walked over, wanting to kick Jerry away, but she couldn't move her hands. All she could do was yell, “Jerry, let go! Look at his face, it's covered in blood! You're going to beat him to death!"
Jerry stopped what he was doing and looked up at Charlotte. "Do you know what he was just about to do?"
"I know, I allowed it. I'm playing games with him," Charlotte said, taking the opportunity to push Jerry away. She crouched down and called out to Zander a few times, but there was no response.
She trembled with anger and yelled at Jerry, "Are you out of your mind? Who gave you permission to hit him? What gives you the courage to do that?"
Jerry asked, "Are you with him?"
"What does it matter to you whether we're together or not!" Charlotte was furious at Zander's pathetic look. "You were just my boy toy in the past, what right do you have to meddle in my personal affairs?"
"Is it because you think the breakup fee I gave you is too little? You're really pushing your luck! Just look at how expensive the birthday gift I gave you was!"
Jerry knows about Charlotte's temper, and sometimes her words can be unpleasant to hear.
However, even now, her words still stung him, causing his pupils to constrict slightly and a suffocating pain in his heart.
After a while, he loosened his bloodied fist and sneered coldly, "Fine, it's none of my business who you get involved with. I was just pushing my luck!"
After he finished speaking, he turned around and left, walking at an incredibly fast pace, his back exuding an air of proud indifference.
Chapter 1349 Someone Is Truly Fortunate
Charlotte couldn't care less about anything else, as she was worried about Zander's life and death. Fortunately, a waiter came over to check on the situation. She asked them to call 911 and help untie the rope on her hands.
After taking the person to the hospital for a check-up, the doctor said that two teeth had fallen out, but there was no damage to the face.
As soon as Zander woke up, Charlotte immediately apologized to him.
Zander lay in the hospital bed, struggling to speak. "If I weren't your ex-boyfriend, I'd think you hired someone to beat me up like this. Are you dating Jerry?"
"Charlotte said, "We broke up a while ago. He just came to make a fuss because he thinks the breakup fee was too low."
Charlotte promised Zander that once he gets better, she would play with him again.
Zander didn't hold her back, and had someone bring Yvonne's contract over. This time, the penalty for breach of contract was reasonable. Charlotte immediately had someone take it to Yvonne's residence for her to sign.
There are many managers at Ingenuity Entertainment, and among them, two are considered top-tier in the industry. As a result, Sienna's contract termination with Ingenuity Entertainment went smoothly.
Charlotte took care of Zander until he was discharged from the hospital. She compensated him with more than two million in cash for his emotional distress and medical expenses.
After he returned home, she finally let out a sigh of relief.
Charlotte stared at her empty WhatsApp balance, feeling a painful sting in her heart. She couldn't help but blame Jerry, whose two punches had wiped out all her savings.
However, she also belatedly realized that she had spoken too harshly to Jerry that day in the private room.
At the time, Jerry thought she was being bullied, so he fiercely beat up Zander, only to end up being scolded by her and leaving...
Charlotte suddenly felt regret and guilt, wanting to send Jerry a message. Upon opening the chat interface and searching, she realized that she had blocked him some time ago.
It was his own fault that they broke up, so why should he be the one apologizing to her?
His mistake, she paid the price.
Thinking about the two million dollars she had lost, Charlotte no longer felt guilty. After freshening up, she directly drove her supercar to Twilight Tower.
Today, Genevieve also came to the company. Upon learning that Charlotte had arrived, she went straight to the office to find her.
Genevieve saw Charlotte sitting busily behind the desk in the small, independent office. She knocked on the door to get Charlotte's attention.
"How do you feel about the office?"
Charlotte saw Genevieve come in, put down her work, and took a bottle of mineral water from the small refrigerator for her. "Before, we could only stand at the front desk and had to greet the visiting guests with a smile. Now we can sit in the office. It's like the difference between heaven and hell."
Genevieve laughed and said, "See, I told you you're amazing! In just a few days, you managed to get Yvonne out of her contract with Ingenuity Entertainment. I was worried about that for so long."
"Not at all," Charlotte said modestly, waving her hand.
Genevieve handed two documents to Charlotte, "Yvonne's manager Sienna from Ingenuity Entertainment has also come to Genevieve Orsi. I've asked Sienna to continue managing her and to guide your two artists as well."
Charlotte was worried about not having any artists under her wing, wondering where to find them, when Genevieve brought the opportunity right to her doorstep.
Charlotte flipped open the file, which also contained photos of the artist. Her eyes seemed to be glued to the picture, "Wow! This woman has really big breasts."
Upon hearing this, Genevieve looked over at her and asked, "Really?"
"Yeah, they must be at least an E cup." Charlotte pulled open her sweater and glanced at her own chest, saying with a hint of envy, "Not only are they big, but she's also really pretty."
"Her stunning appearance, even if just in a three-second shot in a movie, would leave men longing for more."
Genevieve took the photo from her hand and looked at it carefully, feeling a bit envious. "Someone is really lucky, with each woman around him being more beautiful than the last."
Chapter 1350 He Does Not Want You
Genevieve considered herself more beautiful than Scarlette, but she had to admit that her figure was not as good as hers.
Charlotte said, "It couldn't be Mr. Faulkner, could it?"
Genevieve hummed and handed the photo back to her, "This woman is Mando's childhood friend, and I heard her family has a deep connection with the Faulkner family."
Charlotte's face was full of shock, "Then why did you sign her?"
"Mando asked me to sign it."
Charlotte looked at Genevieve with a puzzled expression, seemingly not understanding her mysterious actions.
Genevieve leaned back in her chair, casually saying, "Didn't you mention that men are into this type? She should be able to make a name for herself in the entertainment industry pretty quickly. As long as she can make money for me, that's all that matters."
"Genevieve, you're so open-minded." Charlotte gave Genevieve a thumbs up. "If it were my boyfriend's childhood friend, I would tear her apart."
How could she possibly help her love rival succeed in the entertainment industry? That's just ridiculous!
Charlotte opened another file and was stunned by the photo she saw. She looked at Genevieve and asked, "Is Jerry an artist at Genevieve Orsi Productions?"
"Isn't that right?" Genevieve asked in return.
Charlotte suddenly remembered that when Jerry's contract with his previous entertainment company was about to expire, Genevieve had poached him for Genevieve Orsi Productions. Jerry had mentioned this to her before, but she had quickly forgotten about it.
Charlotte broke up with her ex-boyfriend in an open and honest manner. When they met again, they were still friends and could chat and laugh together.
Just thinking about becoming Jerry's agent and meeting him every now and then made her feel uneasy and a bit embarrassed.
Charlotte pushed the documents back, "You can take them to the other agents."
Genevieve lifted her eyes to look at her, with a playful smile, she said, "Didn't you say you broke up with Jerry? He's your ex-boyfriend now, are you still afraid of being around him?"
"What am I afraid of!" Charlotte retorted stubbornly.
"Well, that's it," Genevieve said. "You two are familiar with each other, and he doesn't need you to worry about anything. If he gets a top-level film and television resource or a luxury brand endorsement, you'll also get a share of the profits."
"If you deliberately avoid him, it means you do care about his past," Genevieve added leisurely.
Charlotte's face changed as if her words had struck her heart.
After Jerry won the Best Actor trophy, all the good opportunities were handed to him. Directors and producers constantly invited him to work on their projects, and as his agent, Charlotte could make a fortune from these deals. There was no reason for her to refuse such a great opportunity.
Not long after Genevieve left, Jerry's former agent sent Charlotte a bunch of people's contact information and schedules.
Jerry has an A-level contract with Genevieve Orsi Productions, which offers him a lot of freedom. However, the company assigns specific tasks for Jerry to complete each year.
Previously, Jerry had postponed his tasks again and again to accompany Charlotte, pushing them all to November and December. As a result, Charlotte now saw his schedule completely packed.
Charlotte flipped through the schedule and found out that Jerry couldn't get more than five hours of sleep a day. She couldn't help but feel a little heartache for him.
Before, she never worried about Jerry's work. Whenever she needed him, she would just make a phone call, and the two of them would travel the world together.
If the production team calls, Charlotte impatiently tells him to stop acting, and she'll pay him the film remuneration herself.
Charlotte tried to put herself in the shoes of someone who worked hard and earned a high salary, only to be constantly harassed by their boyfriend, who showed no respect for their job. She imagined that she would be quite annoyed in such a situation.
Was she always this mean, treating Jerry like a little dog, ordering him around?
She felt heartbroken for less than two seconds before Genevieve called, "Sorry, Jerry doesn't want you to be his agent. He specifically asked for Camilla Burton."
